The monograph reveals the content of the concept of "social regulators". The difference between the sociological approach based on the fact that social regulation is carried out consciously is shown. Two forms of consciousness are considered — rational and attractive. It is also proved that attractive thinking is being formed in the Russian socio-cultural community. The classification of social regulators is given. The theory of social regulators is designed to explain why the work motives and, in general, the work ethic of one culture are inapplicable to another. For specialists who study the behavior of an individual.

The monograph identifies trends in changes in the field of employment and problems associated with the expansion of employment in new forms in Russia and in the world under the influence of modern factors of transformation of the sphere of labor; summarizes international, foreign and domestic approaches to the identification and systematization of new forms of employment; provides a statistical assessment of the scale and features of the development of new forms of employment in the Russian Federation The risks of new forms of employment for employees, employers (and platform owners) and the state are considered; a systematic review of foreign experience in state regulation of new forms of employment is presented and a set of proposals for the development of flexible regulatory regulation of new forms of employment in Russia to achieve a balance of interests of the state, business and employees is substantiated. It is addressed to researchers, university teachers, graduate students and students studying the labor market and the sphere of social and labor relations, as well as representatives of legislative and executive authorities, state employment service bodies, trade unions and public organizations.

The textbook examines the basics of managing the social development of personnel in modern Russia: the concept of social management, the state of the labor market, forms of state regulation, social relationships of employees, the structure of the workforce and its development. Based on the analysis of domestic and foreign experience, national peculiarities of social management, sociological methods of personnel research, formation of personnel policy, corporate culture and business ethics are revealed. A methodology for developing a social development plan based on the theory of planning and social standards, the formation of a personnel management and social development service for the organization of small, medium and large businesses is proposed. The fundamentals of the theory of the effectiveness of social development are presented, and for the first time a method of integral assessment of the organization's social development plan is proposed. It is recommended for students, postgraduates, as well as managers and specialists in the field of management and personnel management.

The monograph was prepared by a team of authors based on the results of a study conducted in 2019-2022 on the topic "Transformation of the foundations of criminal proceedings in the context of the development of digital technologies: concepts of social technology, evidence and ensuring the rights of participants in the process" within the framework of the RFBR grant on the basis of the contract dated 04.10.2018 No. 18-29-16041.MK. The research is based on modern philosophical approaches to the development of science, the theory of cognition and epistemology, the understanding of social technologies that affect the development of criminal procedure science. An innovative analysis of a number of theoretical provisions, norms of law and practice of modern Russian criminal proceedings from the standpoint of social technology, compatibility of procedural and legal regulation and technological approach with the process of digitalization of procedural activity is carried out. The institutional-legal and socio-technological determinants of the transformation of ideas about the foundations of criminal proceedings, its modern goals and values, the subjects of the process and their role in the conditions of digitalization, about the types of procedural activities subject to digitalization, about certain aspects and possibilities of digitalization of evidence, record keeping, international cooperation in criminal proceedings are considered. For researchers and practicing lawyers.

The monograph presents an extensive study of new forms of labor organization in the context of the development of technical, technological, financial, economic and socio-cultural factors. The distinctive features of digital labor platforms, their classification, as well as the strategies of key players in the global and Russian-speaking distance labor markets are given. Based on the analysis of current international analytical reviews, foreign and domestic scientific publications, current legislation and court decisions, the author gives approaches and methods of regulatory regulation of platform labor. The author does not ignore such controversial issues as: direct and indirect methods of state influence on the activities of digital labor platforms, problems of social responsibility, as well as prospects for the development of platform cooperativism in the world and Russia as an alternative to labor platforms focused on the global level. Affective experiences are part of our everyday life, but do they influence health-related decisions and behaviors in a systematic way? Temporal self-regulation theory (TST) posits that health behaviors are a joint function of neurobiologically rooted executive control processes, prepotency, and intentions. The relative weights of these in turn depend largely on the ecological context in which the behaviors are being performed. On the surface, then, TST is a model of health behavior that relies predominantly on social-cognitive and neurocognitive constructs to explain health behavior trajectories. For this reason, it appears to not deal directly with the topic of affect in general, and emotion more specifically. However, there are several facets of the TST model that involve these processes, or are heavily influenced by them. This chapter discusses each of the primary points of intersection between affective processes and constructs within TST.

This article examines corporate social responsibility (CSR) from the angle of critical theory. It begins by arguing that values shape corporate decisions in three general ways: managerial choices, routines, and reasoning processes; governmental regulation, incentives, tax structures, and oversight; and consumption choices within market systems. It shows that, alone and jointly, these ‘sites’ are fundamentally weak in their capacity to produce greater CSR in the sense of more diverse values and reasoning processes. Institutionalized power relations, various forms of systematically distorted communication, and ideology provide insight into different weaknesses and pitfalls. This article treats ideology as the presence of values embedded in language, routines, practices, and positions that privilege dominant groups which are difficult to identify, discuss, and assess owing to various covering mechanisms. Following this, it turns to exploring communication systems and practices that can provide for a more sustainable, and democratic, CSR.

This chapter is about normative justifications for regulating markets. In leading handbooks as well as in the academic literature, a split is often made between economic justifications (based on the theory of market failure) and social justifications (mainly around considerations of paternalism and distributive justice). The chapter questions this dichotomy and calls for the development of an ethically coherent framework for market regulation. To do so, the chapter proposes to build on the capability approach, first developed by economist Amartya Sen and philosopher Martha Nussbaum. A capability approach to regulation would hold that markets should be regulated to the extent necessary for realizing a set of basic capabilities. The chapter discusses existing applications to property law and contract law and extends them into the outlines of a general theory of regulation. The final part illustrates the promises of such an approach with respect to the regulation of financial markets.

This chapter explores the relationship between freedom, regulation, and public policy. Adopting a “non-ideal” approach, it argues that there is no necessary connection between different conceptions of liberty and any particular sort of regulatory/public policy framework. Both negative and positive conceptions of freedom require a role for “regulation,” but whether this “regulation” arises from public policy or is best left to emerge through private agency in a competitive environment is a matter that can only be resolved by theoretical speculation and empirical inquiry. Many disputes about the freedom-enhancing capacities of regulatory regimes ought to be addressed within a framework that combines social scientific theory and evidence to understand the “compliance problems” arising under alternative institutional arrangements.

Social scientists have theorized the rise of transnational private authority, but knowledge about its consequences remains sparse and fragmented. This chapter builds from a critique of “empty spaces” imagery in several leading paradigms to a new theory of transnational governance. Rules and assurances are increasingly flowing through global production networks, but these flows are channeled and reconfigured by domestic governance in a variety of ways. Abstracting from the case studies in this book, a series of theoretical propositions specify the likely outcomes of private regulation, the influence of domestic governance, the special significance of territory and rights, and several ways in which the content of rules shapes their implementation. As such, this theory proposes an explanation for differences across places, fields, and issues, including the differential performance of labor and environmental standards.

This chapter discusses the domain of traditional morality that represents the first level of the two-level contractarian theory. To this end, the chapter presents, in the form of Hume’s moral conventionalism and Gaus’ moral theory, two accounts of morality that, from the perspective of the two-level contractarian theory, help clarify the origin and general features of traditional first-level morality as understood in this book. Further, the chapter clarifies the reasons that the two-level contractarian theory is a two-level theory and not a two-stage theory, and that traditional first-level morality takes priority in regulating morally relevant types of social interaction. Finally, the chapter addresses some practical concerns that may arise in the application of the two-level contractarian theory, especially the application of the weak principle of universalization.

This chapter focuses on the fact that every natural resource-abundant country needs to regulate the extractives sector in the public interest, given its significant social, economic, and environmental impact. This is a daunting challenge, requiring not only the design and enactment of the necessary laws and regulations but also the assignment of responsibilities for implementation across ministries and often numerous government agencies. The regulatory system must be comprehensive, transparent, and implemented to a high standard. Production never starts immediately and even when it does start there is always a further lengthy lag before government revenues begin to rise. Consequently, governments are often pressured into poorly devised policies, pandering to populist sentiments. The reality is that high-quality strategic decision-making needs long-term and carefully built institutional arrangements.
