Abstract (sommario):
The article deals with letters from children and adolescents of the city of Samara and the Samara region in the 1920s and 1930s addressed to M. Gorky and preserved in the Archive of A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The geographical principle of material selection made it possible to significantly narrow down the extensive topic of Gorky's correspondence with children. Using the example of several epistolary texts, typical images of the writer's children's correspondents are identified and considered. The literary, sociological and local history aspects of correspondence are investigated. Letters from children and teenagers clearly demonstrated the changes in society. The letter of D.F. Shaposhnikov and its appendix are the documentary evidence of the serious work of educational and cultural institutions of the country aimed at forming a thoughtful reader, organizing purposeful reading, as well as guiding readers' interests in the 1930s. The presented research is interdisciplinary in nature and will be interesting to a wide variety of specialists. The letters of the young Samara correspondents are being introduced into scientific circulation for the first time.

Abstract (sommario):
The subject of this research is the structural components of hypergenre “personal file”. The object of this research is business letters. Analysis is conducted on the basis of archived personal filed of the students of Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute for the period from 1930’s – 1940s. The goal consist in introducing new texts of business correspondence into the scientific discourse. In the course of this study, the author solves the following tasks: extraction of documents from the personal files that genre-wise belong to correspondence; determination of genre distinctness of the extracted documents; description of stylistic and functional characteristic of letters and notes. The discursive-communicative analysis of the texts of business correspondence proves that the addresser and the addressee are based on the general social presuppositions. The genre analysis allowed studying the specificity of the genre of business letter and note. For examination of linguistic units of business texts, the author uses the methods of semantic, stylistic and discursive analysis. It is claimed that the hypergenre “personal file” includes a special genre group – business letter or note that manifests as the structural elements of personal file. The author highlights the documents comprising the group of letters/notes based on the formal criterion, i.e. presence of addressee; from the perspective of functional criterion, namely the purpose of document and intention of the addresser; according to discursive-compositional markers, such as form of address or etiquette formula. The article demonstrates the specificity of indicated genres in the particular historical period within the framework of a hypergenre, which is an important addition to the overall picture of the development of business writing, as well as a source for determining normative and stylistic peculiarities of the document on the various language levels.

Abstract (sommario):
The material for this article is the letters and diaries of a student of the Philological Faculty of the Leningrad State Pedagogical Institute named after A. I. Herzen (1945-1949), addressed to her mother in Veliky Ustyug, Vologda region. Some elements of dialect speech found in these documents are of scientific interest. The aim of the research is to study the linguistic dynamics of letters that has developed under the influence of the linguistic environment of Leningrad. The analysis revealed that 1) the most frequent in the texts are lexical dialectisms; 2) morphological deviations from the literary norm can be regarded as vernaculars; 3) syntactic dialectal features are reflected in the specific models of sentence construction and non-traditional principles of connecting homogeneous sentence members. The letters of 1945-49 reveal the dynamics of their author's speech, which demonstrates a gradual assimilation of the literary norm. In the diaries, the literary norm of speech is formed earlier. This indicates that the texts of the letters are oriented to the addressee, who is a speaker of urban half-dialect, and the texts of the diaries - to the person who knows literary speech.

Abstract (sommario):
This study is dedicated to the Austrian physicist Edmund Weiss (1884–1932) and his time as assistant at the Institute of Physics of the German University in Prague in 1906–1914. Particular attention is paid to his 1911 habilitation work on the elementary quantum of electricity, which he measured in experiments with ultramicroscopic silver particles. In this work, Weiss repeated the measurements of Vienna physicist Felix Ehrenhaft. Unlike he, Weiss managed to confirm – with the help of Einstein’s 1905 formula for Brownian molecular motion – the value of elementary quantum of electricity, which had first been established by R. A. Millikan in his ‘oil drop’ experiments. Albert Einstein, at that time (in 1911–1912) professor of theoretical physics at the German University in Prague, praised Edmund Weiss and his work at the First Solvay Conference on Physics in Brussels in autumn 1911. Details of Weiss’s habilitation work at the Institute of Physics in Prague were described in letters written by Anton Lampa, professor and director of the institute, and addressed to the doyen of Viennese physics Viktor von Lang. Full texts of six of Lampa’s letters (in German) are appended to the study.

Abstract (sommario):
The conference 'Writing the Lives of the Poor' arose out of a joint Anglo-German research project, “Pauper Letters and Petitions for Poor Relief in Germany and Great Britain,1770–1914”, funded by the UK’s Arts & Humanities Research Council, and directed by Prof. Steven King (University of Leicester) and Prof.Dr. Andreas Gestrich (Director, German Historical Institute London. These narratives comprise letters and petitions written by paupers seeking some form of relief. In describing the circumstances which led them to appeal for help, the authors construct autobiographical vignettes. The project aims to construct an online, edited corpus of such texts, which survive in considerable numbers in British and German archives.

Abstract (sommario):
The article reviews four scientific works on the work of M.A. Sholokhov, prepared by scientists of A.M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Taking into account all the principles of textual science of the XXI century, a new textual preparation of the texts of the two main novels by M.A. Sholokhov “And Quiet Flows the Don” and “The Soil Upturned”. The choice of the main source of the text was made on the basis of a frontal comparison of all existing manuscript and printed sources of the work and takes into account the last creative will of the author. This made it possible to correct errors and misprints, make reasoned corrections, restore censorship exceptions, the author's spelling and punctuation. An innovative approach has been taken regarding the choice of the main source of the text. Each of the books of novels is printed not from one source common to the entire novel, but from different ones. The textual preambles explain how, out of more than 4,000 discrepancies in the text of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, 500 documented and substantiated amendments were made, and the Appendix to the novel contains 11 pages of text seized in 1933 for ideological and other reasons, with which I am not familiar modern reader. Two works-satellites of scientific publications of literary texts by M.A. Sholokhov: “Creative heritage of M.A. Sholokhov at the beginning of the XXI century” and “Soviet reader with a letter to you… Letters from readers M.A. Sholokhov. 1955–1984”, which show the current level of study of the writer’s work, textual criticism, investigative work in our country, as well as India, China and Europe and introduce archival materials, letters from readers, transcripts of speeches by M.A. Sholokhov.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractIt is known that the Qajars had their supporters in Dagestan during the Russo-Persian Wars in the early 19th century. This fact is well documented in Persian chronicles and royal decrees (firmāns), as well as in the materials from the Russian archives. However, the number of historical documents originating from the region itself is drastically few. This paper presents three letters in Arabic, without dates, but definitely from the same period, illustrating the political situation of the time in the mountains of Dagestan and the geographical extent of the Qajar influence in the area. The letters were discovered recently in the Archives of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography, Dagestan Centre, Russian Academy of Sciences in Makhachkala. The English translation is accompanied by the facsimile reproduction of the original texts, and commentaries.

Abstract (sommario):
A Latvian learner corpus “LaVA” is being built in the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Latvia. The corpus includes texts written by beginner learners in the first two semesters of learning Latvian as a foreign language. The texts are written by hand and digitized afterwards in order to reduce the issues that could be caused by the necessity to learn not only writing itself but also using a foreign keyboard. One of the features that cannot be digitized is the new letters created by adding diacritical marks which are not used that way in the standard Latvian alphabet. Since one of the essential steps in learning to write in a language is learning the letters and diacritical marks of that language, this study aims to find instances of such newly made letters and to discuss the basic quantitative measures in order to define hypotheses and areas of interest for further research of such usage. Altogether 322 texts were searched, and 175 examples were found. The amount of examples found in 2nd semester texts was less than half the amount of examples found in the 1st semester texts, but the percentage of texts containing examples was higher than expected – more than 33 % in the 1st semester and almost 20 % in the 2nd semester. It leads to a conclusion that this is quite a common occurrence but also prone to reduction in the second semester. The corpus does not provide any data on later semesters so it cannot be predicted when such instances should become a rare, individual feature rather than a common one. The average amount of examples in a text is not high, though. Counting only the texts where at least one example was found, the average amount of examples per text is 2.136 in the 1st semester and 1.690 in the 2nd semester. Considering that the absolute lowest possible value here is 1, it should not be considered as a high value. Therefore, using diacritical marks to make new letters, while a common feature of the Latvian interlanguage, could be characterized as casual rather than systemic. However, that does not exclude the possibility of certain patterns in usage. The currently collected data already shows that there are some words – such as garšo, viņš, ļoti, četri – where examples were found in more than one author’s text. Examples of using unsuitable diacritical marks are also sometimes found next to letters for which said diacritical marks would be suitable. This should be explored more thoroughly using qualitative methods. The size of the corpus keeps growing; the expected size upon completion is 1000 texts. When it is reached, it would be useful to repeat the study and check whether the larger amount of data still confirms the same assumptions. The larger sample size would also allow for more detailed quantitative analysis discussing each letter, diacritical mark, placement of the diacritical mark, and metadata collected for the corpus, such as gender, native language and other spoken languages by the authors of the texts.

Abstract (sommario):
Over the past few decades, the archival heritage of Russian thinkers abroad has become an area of particular interest for specialists in the history of Russian philosophy. Each new discovery, be it an unpublished scientific text, drafts, lecture texts, business correspondence or private letters, allows us not only to slightly lift the “veil of mystery” of the philosopher’s creative workshop, but also to immerse ourselves in the world of his existential experiences, revealing character traits and habits, way of living. The first part of letters being published is from N.O. Lossky to G.V. Florovsky, that come from the archives of Princeton University (Princeton, USA), covering the period from 1933 to 1946 before N.O. Lossky’s moving to America, the letters indicate not only that N.O. Lossky and his family had warm and friendly feelings towards G.V. Florovsky and staid in contact with him for many years, but also the intersection of the destinies of these two thinkers, first in Prague (teaching at the Russian Faculty of Law, N.O. Lossky’s opposition to G.V. Florovsky’s dissertation, participation in the activities of the Brotherhood of Saint Sophia, involvement in the “dispute about Sophia”, etc.), then in Paris (pedagogical activity at the St. Sergius Theological Institute). These letters very clearly show how communication with Florovsky influenced (albeit in a rather indirect form) the formation of Lossky’s interest in anthropological issues.

Abstract (sommario):
The article presents autographs of Nazarii Petrovich, Iakov Nazar’evich and Ivan Nazar’evich Melnitskii kept in the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academmy of Science, in the Ancient Storage (Drevlekhranilishche) named after V. I. Malyshev: their letters to their close relative Gavrila Alexandrovich Melnitskii and the Latin-Russian dictionary, the Latin part of which was written by Iakov Nazar’evich Melnitskii. The letters of Iakov and Ivan Melnitskii relate to the different circumstances of the Crimean campaigns of the late 17th century, in the first of which Nazarii Petrovich Melnitski was involved (he was responsible for escorting to Azov suppliers of provisions caught in embezzlement), while his sons Nikita and Semen participated in the second (Nikita served under the command of Patrick Gordon). A letter from Nazarii Melnitski tells about the circumstances of his dispatch to serve in the conquered Tavan’ and Kazykermen’. Letters date back to 1695, 1696, and 1698/99. They were sent from Moscow, presumably, to the estate of G. A. Melnitskii. The Latin-Russian dictionary, in the creation of which Iakov Nazar’evich Melnitskii played the main role, is not only of lexicographic interest. On the one hand, it allows us to evaluate the education of the Petrine generation of service people; on the other hand, — to make some observations regarding the organization of scribal work in creating such books. Iakov Melnitskii not only wrote the Latin part of the dictionary, but also organized people who filled out its Russian part, and paid for their work. Despite the fact that the Russian part of the dictionary was not completed, the book was bound. Iakov Melnitskii gave it a complete look, writing the chapters and placingthe output note on the binding sheets. The article suggests a paleographic analysis of the manuscripts under consideration and demonstrates both the general features characteristic of the manuscript culture of the beginning of the Petrine era and the individual features of each scribe. The article is supplemented by the publication of samples of the handwriting of stolniks Melnitskii and the texts of three their letters.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Now in the British Library, MS Harley 5402 is a collection of astrological treatises from different sources. It consists of two groups of texts, with the first, penned by a 12th-century professional Italian scribe, covering folios 1r-69r, and the second, added in the 14th century, running from folio 70r to 104v. Acting as a watershed between the two parts, folio 69 contains three short texts added by non-professional hands in a deplorable Latin, strongly influenced by the vernacular (Italian and Occitan). – A fourth text, in a variety of Old Italian, was inserted by yet another non-professional hand, with all elements pointing to the city of Pisa in the second half of the 12th century: this conclusion is supported by the palaeographic analysis carried out in this article. The Old Italian text, La rasione dele littere Julii inperator, discovered by professor Charles Burnett of the Warburg Institute in London, has resisted every attempt at interpretation until the present day: for instance, efforts to link this “method for calculating the letters of Emperor Julius” to the Julian calendar with its Dominical letters have proved fruitless. What is clear, however, is that we are looking at the oldest known specimen of Italian scientific prose.

Abstract (sommario):
The article reveals the degree of influence of the Great Terror policy on the formation of behavioral practices in the scientific, pedagogical, and student environment of the Kazan State Pedagogical Institute (KSPI). The author analyzes letters addressed to the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks and party organizations of the KSPI. The letters, dated April 1938, were written by Khairi Gimadi, one of the leading historians of the TASSR, who stood at the origins of the Soviet historiography of the national republic. The article is to show the source studies significance of epistolary heritage in study of the Soviet humanities development in the context of ideological campaigns. Besides principles of historicism, objectivity, and integrated approach, the study uses hermeneutic method to interpret the texts content, taking into account the author’s age, marital and social status, his attitude to power, and also state’s ideological pressure on society. Having survived the days of repression, Kh. Gimadi became a candidate of historical sciences, senior researcher at the Academy of Sciences of the USSR with a degree in history of Tatarstan. He was engaged in research activities until his death in 1961. After his death, his wife carefully collected notes that he had torn, grouped them according to their content, and filed into two separate notebooks. One of these contains Kh. Gimadi's letters of application. They reflect a form of corporate ethics developed during the Great Terror and relationship between teachers and students. The study shows politically unstable living conditions of the humanitarian intelligentsia, enduring fear for the fate of loved ones. In order to survive, Soviet people often had to overstep moral boundaries and comply with the system. This inevitably led to the destruction of traditional foundations of the society and the breakdown of social ties. This led to the false notion that the only source of justice was the party. This is the reason why H. Gimadi's letters of application were written. The significance of these historical documents lies in the fact that, in addition to highlighting moral and political atmosphere in the days of mass repression, they make it possible to understand the reason behind conciliatory behavior and even complicity in mass arrests. The presented study may be of interest to specialists studying the development of Soviet historical science in the national republics and everyday life in the era of Stalinism.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to the textual reconstruction of the poem The Painter by M. N. Muravyov. It was published in “Academic News” in 1779. In the Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library (Moscow), we have found the earliest manuscript of this work, which we date 1775. This variant differs greatly from the final one – both in terms of volume and style. In the Manuscript Department of the Institute of Russian Literature (St. Petersburg), we found the second version of The Painter, written, as we claim, in 1778. It was stored with Muravyov’s letters to Dmitry Khvostov. Such close attention of the author to this poem could be explained by the fact that he expressed in it some crucial ideas about the nature of creativity and about the principles of interaction with the authorities. From our point of view, The Painter is one of Muravyov’s key texts, in which he acclaimed his loyalty to the cultural policy of Catherine II.

Abstract (sommario):
In the article, the author studies the correspondence of F. Ernst and A. Artiukhova. The found complex of letters covers the chronological period from 28.09.1927 to 01.12.1929 and belongs to the time of their joint work in Taras Shevchenko All-Ukrainian Historical Museum. F. Ernst was a head of art department of the museum then, and A. Artiukhova worked as an assistant from 1927. Simultaneously with working in the museum, from 1926 F. Ernst worked as Kyiv krai inspector for protection of cultural heritage, and from 1929 he was the member of Parity Commission for Cultural Valuables Exchange between RSFSR and Ukrainian SSR. The letters, found in Central State Archives of Public Organizations in Ukraine in fund 263 “Individuals repressed by GPU-NKVD-KGB during the 1920–1950s in Kyiv and Kyiv region” in the archival investigative case No. 64684 FP, and were the evidence in the case of accusation of Adelaida Artiukhova of “counter-revolutionary nationalist activity”. All the charges were reduced to a personal acquaintance with F. Ernst, who was already deported at that time. The found archival sources allow to reconstruct in more detail the biography of Adelaida Volodymyrivna Artiukhova and her personal contribution to the replenishment of the art collection of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Historical Museum. A. Artiukhova was born in 1902 in the city of Kyiv. In 1920–1923, she studied at the Kyiv Institute of Public Education and the Kyiv Archaeological Institute. In 1924, she began working at the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Historical Museum (UHM) in Kyiv as a laboratory assistant of the art department. During 1927-1929, together with F. Ernst, she was returning cultural values from the museums of the Russian Federation, replenishing the UHM collection, and for this purpose often visited the museums of Moscow and Leningrad, studying their collections and museum work in general. The texts of the letters are published without any reductions. Phonetic and orthographic features of the document language are preserved. The letters give an opportunity to immerse in the historical context of the museum life of one of the leading museums of Ukraine, to study into inter-museum cooperation, etc. F. Ernst’s epistolary reveals the contact points of the researchers, shows their friendly style of communication and the topics they discussed. Throughout the correspondence, there are three main topics: the activity of the art department of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Historical Museum (exhibitions and collections), cooperation and return of paintings from Russian museums, and everyday life (rest of the scholars in the Crimea and Odessa). All letters are very informative; they show the internal activities of the art department of the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Historical Museum: replenishment of the collection, exhibiting activity, scholarly contacts. The letters reveal the complex inter-museum relations of UHM with Russian museums and the role of personal contacts of scholars. It was found out that A. Artiukhova, who used F. Ernst’s personal connections and acquaintances for the benefit of the museum, had a significant influence on the implementation of the large replenishment of UHM.

Abstract (sommario):
The work is a commentary on the publication of several letters, which obviously constituted the regular correspondence that existed in the 1840–1880s between the owners of two estates in the Kirsanovsky County of the Tambov Governorate – G.F. and N.A. Petrovo-Solovovo, whose estate was in the Karay-Saltykovo Village, and S.A. and S.M. Baratynsky, who lived in the Mara (Vyazhli). Several letters preserved in the Baratynsky Foundation at the Institute of Russian Lite-rature (Pushkin House), Russian Academy of Sciences (IRLI RAS) represent friendly correspon-dence in Russian and French, covering a large number of topics of everyday life in a country es-tate. The fact of this correspondence is interesting in the historical and literary aspect. First of all, letters are bilingual texts, the choice of language in which gives rise to reflection on the nature of the relationship in the nobility of the neighboring community that developed in one of the central Russian counties in the middle of the 19th century. This acquires special significance in cases when documents not only reveal the fact of existing social connections in general, but also, based on observation of the language, style, and emotional mode of letters, make it possible to judge the nature and duration of such connections in the community. Being one of the main historical sources, correspondence materials supplement the evidence of other documents about the past of two noble estates. In particular, this applies to historical information about the estates’ owners. And if there was always a steady interest in Mara (Vyazhli) in connection with the large-scale fig-ure of E.A. Baratynsky, then the history of the Karay-Saltykovsky estate and several generations of its inhabitants today suffers from incompleteness, contradictions in the structure of local history narrative, extreme limited archival material and the absence of introducing new sources into the research field. The publication of letters from the first generation of the inhabitants of the estate in Karay-Saltykovo partly fills this gap. We use textual methods, classical historical study principles of external and internal criticism of the source.

Abstract (sommario):
GRAFIX is an educational game developed by a multidisciplinary team from the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Maranhão (IFMA) in partnership with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI) and the State Department of Education of Maranhão (SEDUC), with the aim of assisting in the treatment of people with dysorthography. The game is based on the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) methodology and is grouped into tasks to teach the correct spelling of letters, words and phrases with their respective sound, setting grammatical rules, punctuation and accentuation, containing positive reinforcements and without negative interactions, its theoretical foundation was based on literary reviews and literacies of the main multidisciplinary databases indexed in the CAPES portal, such as ASTM, Scopus and Web of Science. GRAFIX uses mobile devices to exercise, developing the users' neurocognitive stimuli, gradually increasing their spelling accuracy, organization, structuring and composition of written texts, as well as improving sentence construction. The game has become a differentiated tool for the treatment of dysorthography, since the disorder can have a negative impact on the self-esteem and school performance of the affected people, and it can be used in the classroom as an active methodology, complementing the grammar teaching, offering a pleasant, playful and interactive approach.

Abstract (sommario):
The article explores the scientific work of historians of the Institute of History of the USSR Academy of Sciences who were in evacuation in 1941-1943. The author employed a wide range of historical sources in the study: letters, memories, scientists' diaries, materials of scientific journals, office documents, scientific works. The author used traditional methods of historical analysis: historical-genetic and comparative-historical. At the first stage of the study, the author considered the circumstances of the evacuation of the Institute of History and identified the main centers where historians were sent from Moscow. These cities were Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Almaty, Tomsk, and other cities. Tashkent was the main center of the Institute of History during the evacuation. At the second stage, the author studied scientists' living conditions during the evacuation (in Tashkent and Almaty). At the third stage, the author analyzed the main directions of historians' work during the evacuation. Historians of the Institute of History worked in two main directions during the evacuation: solving the tasks set by the battlefront and the host republics, and continuing their own research. During the war, historians gave pop-science lectures in hospitals, factories, and prepared pop-science works that told about the past wars of the Russian people. In Tashkent and Almaty, evacuated historians began writing works on the history of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. During the war, historians of the Institute of History paid much attention to the teaching of historical subjects. Groups of historians of the Institute in Tashkent and Almaty prepared handbooks for secondary school teachers and gave lectures for teachers. During the evacuation, Moscow historians sought to return to their collective and individual research projects. However, since they could not take all their materials with them, they could not fully implement their plans. For example, S.B. Veselovsky in Tashkent asked his colleagues who remained in Moscow to help him get books from his personal library. Despite this, many employees of the Institute of History in Tashkent or Almaty wrote some articles and monographs, finished working on the texts of candidate and doctoral dissertations and even defended them. The evacuation affected Moscow historians and local scientific schools. Strong contacts were established between them. In addition, the evacuation had a serious impact on the structure of the Soviet academic science. The evacuation ensured the status of the main center of the Soviet academic science for Moscow.

Abstract (sommario):
The article considers the process of transformation of framing of science from a researcher (6 letters, 5 versions of the text with corrections) through the news in corporate mass media (press release, 1 text) to other mass media (8 texts in English, 1 text in German, 59 texts in Russian). Three frames were identified in the original text: “narrative of the progress of the study”, “catastrophizing the results of the study”, and “the need for additional observations for more accurate research results”. The media exploited the “catastrophizing” frame most actively: 6 texts in English, 1 text in German, 42 texts in Russian. Also, journalists implemented one more frame – “verification of results by external experts” (1 time in English and 1 time in Russian). In the texts in Russian has appeared another source of information – a press-release by the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, which can be singled out in a separate frame “refutation of the results obtained by external experts” (15 texts). There has been a convergence of the format of news and a press release about scientific results since journalists used texts prepared by press services without verification and external comments. As a result, the frames of the original text are duplicated in mass media. If the frame is based on sensation, the emphasis on sensation increases in further replication when information about the research (its methodology, problems, and development) decreases.

Abstract (sommario):
In the Leningrad of 1932–1933, two events took place in the academic world that would play an important role in the history of Soviet ethnography, museum construction and religious studies: the opening of the Museum of the History of Religion and the reorganization of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences. At that time, the Academy of Sciences considered it a priority to establish research institutes on the basis of academic museums. If a small collective of the new Museum of the History of Religion, headed by its director Vladimir Bogoras, welcomed such an undertaking, then the reform of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, its merger with the Institute for the Study of the Peoples of the USSR and the creation of the Institute of Ethnography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR on their basis was quite painful for many MAE staff and led to the layoff or change in the status of the employees. The article publishes drawings and texts found in the Photo Library of the State Museum of the History of Religion, in the St Petersburg branch of the RAS Archive, and in the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian National Library, reflecting these events in a satirical form. The author presents cartoons from the wall newspaper of the Museum of the History of Religion (1932–1933), depicting Vladimir Bogoras, an ironic note by Bogoras himself about the participation of scientific workers in the exhibition work, as well as a poem by Eugeny Kagarov’s “The Revised Iliad”, which satirically presents personnel changes at the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography in 1933. The author of the article notes the importance of the discovered satirical works as a source that, like memoirs and letters, reflects subjective impressions and demonstrates a personal attitude to what is happening. In the article, these documents are commented on in detail, showing their importance for the study of the history of the Leningrad community of ethnographers and historians of religion in the early 1930s.

Abstract (sommario):
In this article, we intend to show how critical editing of texts has changed over time and how philologist-editors have taken different critique, politic and social attitudes in the task of editing texts, taking into account their interests regarding the editorial project to be developed, the idiosyncrasies of the materials that make up the archive corpus, the commitment to the text and the reading that will circulate at another point in our history (literary and dramaturgical), among other aspects arising from the examined textual situations. We briefly discuss editorial theories and methodologies, seeking to show how the ecdotic method was transformed from the 19th to the 21st century, outlining contemporary philological practice in two aspects: platonic (teleological) and pragmatic (sociological) in paper and electronic support. To illustrate and comment on the editorial practice of 20th-century texts, poems, short stories, and above all censored theatrical texts, we bring a synthesis of the work developed within the Institute of Letters from Federal University of Bahia, in the research group that I coordinate, considering the editorial models adopted (digital facsimile, synoptic-critique, interpretive, critique, genetics, critical-genetics, electronic/digital [hypertextual archive or hyperEditing]), according to the critical, philological, genetic and sociological approaches. Also, we consider that critical-philological studies point to a particular theme selected by the philologist for weave comments and criticism.

Abstract (sommario):
This article is devoted to two opera projects conceived by Anton Rubinstein in late 1850s — early 1860s: “Ein Steinwurf oder Opfer um Opfer” and “Roswitha”, the librettos for which were commissioned to F. Hebbel and M. Hartmann, respectively. Our research is based on unpublished letters by Rubinstein and draft manuscripts of the libretto for “Roswitha” from Vienna Rathaus library (Wienbibliothek im Rathaus) and Manuscript Cabinet of Russian Art History Institute (Saint-Petersburg). In the article, we show how Rubinstein worked on operas’ texts and why both operas were never actually composed, as well as what role the two unrealized projects played in the artist’s evolution as an opera composer.

Abstract (sommario):
The article investigates the most important trends in the formation of business papers by Oleksa Vlyzko (1908–1934). This Ukrainian writer belonged to the literary groups “Nova Heneratsiya” (“The New Generation”), “Molodnyak” (“The Offspring”), Ukrainian Union of Proletarian Writers and combined the elements of Vanguardistic and Neo-Romantic poetics into one. The aim of proposed work is determination of the standards of Ukrainian legal (official-business) style that are represented in the documents of the man of letters who gravitates to experiments in imaginative texts. The topicality of the research consists in the analysis of the manifestations of the author’s individuality in such style which is often treated as the kind of unemotional and even bureaucratic discourse. At the same time the conciousness of the follower of the play in the belles-lettres may be ‘programmed’ to expressive account in another spheres. Vlyzko’s vision of a document is interpreted in purely linguistic, biographical and textological aspects. The first of them lets to discern the emotional lexical and phraseological means, methapors, Russisms with some connotations in business papers (халтура ‘potboiler’; <...> хочу щоб <...> не махали перед моїм носом, як перед носом осла оберемком сіна “I want that <...> anyone shouldn’t wave in front of my nose like he should wave with a bottle of hay in front of a nose of a donkey”; єрунда ‘rubbish’ (Russian)). As biographical materials show, Oleksa Vlyzko liked various provocations and pranks. Those ways of behaviour were the notable factors of his linguistic communication with editors and state institutions. Finally, the rough copies of writer’s documents contain many corrections, especially fixed components and words that are crossed out. This peculiarity also testifies to the evolution of Vlyzko’s special communicative etiquette and significant idiostyle in Ukrainian legal (official-business) style. The innovatory material of the research includes the sources from Manuscript Institute at Volodymyr Ivanovych Vernadsky Ukrainian National Library.

Abstract (sommario):
The article analyzes the monumental avant-garde work by A. M. Remizov based on materials from the archive of his wife, Serafima Pavlovna Remizova-Dovgello († 1943). Her initials form the title of the new book, entitled “S. P. R.-D.” (1945). Her manuscript has been preserved in Remizov’s archive at Vladimir Dahl State Museum of the History of Russian Literature and is currently published at the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkinskiy Dom) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In this work, various documents belonging to S. P. (her diaries, memoirs, letters, dream notes, business papers, etc.) are interspersed by Remizov’s own texts: his extensive comments on S. P.'s notes, memoirs, essays, excerpts from unpublished works. In the book, through the conventional outline of the biography of S. P. (in her youth, she was a member of the revolutionary movement, a follower of the traditions of the populists) Remizov examines and judges not only the bygone era of the Silver Age, but the Russian Revolution of 1917. The era of the Silver Age represented by its leaders (Dmitry Merezhkovsky, Zinaida Gippius, Alexander Blok, Andrey Bely) is characterized by him as an era of decadence, is subjected to harsh criticism for the departure of its masters from the moral, and above all, the Orthodox traditions of Russian literature. In his assessment of the revolution of 1917, Remizov emphasizes its anti-Christian character. According to the writer, Russia, having stepped on the revolutionary path, has moved away from its historical path — the path of its natural development, which is inseparably linked with Christian values.

Abstract (sommario):
The article investigates documents, memoirs, letters as intellectual / social capital of world Ukrainians of political (post-war) Ukrainian emigration, which are promising areas for information and analytical activities of modern government officials, political scientists, diplomats, historians, information and communication specialists, artists and, in general, all those interested in the state-building process, the implementation of strategic communications. Emphasis is placed on understanding them as precedent texts of the epoch, which contain programmatic, semantic resources for the formation of civil society, the "successful case" of the creation of the state in conditions of absolute self-organization, and so on. Among the examples of high-quality information-analytical activity in the documentary-communication process of forming the information space of modern Ukraine are the projects of the Institute of National Memory, most of which are aimed at debunking historical, ideological, political myths. the basis for the transformation of memory policy in the state. The powerful document resource on the marker "documents" in the electronic library "Diasporiana" (https://diasporiana.org.ua/) is highlighted, the possibility of isolating available precedent texts of documentary communications through thematic selections as a type of analytical documents of the electronic library as an information intermediary is analyzed. stores and provides access to electronic documents, bibliographic review and review of the status of the issue. It is noted that the analyzed cases of documents of the Ukrainian emigration community of anti-Soviet discourse contributed to the modern legislative process of decommunization and de-Sovietization. Not only the semantic cases accumulated in the documentary communication of the world Ukrainians, but also the traditions of office work, recorded in various organizational documents of congresses, conferences, etc. The analyzed fragments of documentary resources of the electronic library "Diasporiana" are an integral part of the strategic document-communication process of cognitive-information society, and the implementation of their powerful intellectual capital in information-analytical activities contribute to their transformation into an information resource of modern society to combine the documentary resources of Ukrainians in mainland Ukraine and abroad.

Abstract (sommario):
Patients, predominantly the elderly, with Herpes Zoster (HZ) not only suffer symptoms of the disease but also bear considerable expenses. This study systematically reviewed the acceptability of and willingness to pay for the HZ vaccine. This review was registered in PROSPERO 2023 (CRD42023403062). We used “acceptance”, “willing to pay”, and “HZ vaccine” (and variations thereof) as keywords in a systematic search for original English research articles published up to April 7, 2023. The search was conducted over Scopus, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, and Google Scholar in accordance with PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The inclusion criteria were as follows: studies (1) that mentioned HZ vaccination, (2) related to acceptability or willingness to pay, and (3) with full texts available and peer-reviewed prior to final publication. Grey literature, letters to editors, commentaries, case reports or series, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, articles of poor quality, and articles with ambiguously defined and measured outcome variables were excluded. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal checklist was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the studies. Finally, the search yielded 24 studies, of which 9 were conducted in Asia, 8 in Europe, and 7 in America. General adults or patients aged 50 or older were often the target populations, for whom treatments were accompanied by healthcare providers’ recommendations. The willingness to pay and willingness to accept the vaccine ranged from $8 to $150 and 16.6% to 85.8%, respectively. Compared to the US, Asia and Europe had higher acceptance rates for HZ immunization. The most frequent excuses given for not being vaccinated are side effects, cost, lack of recommendations, anti-vaccination views, ignorance about the HZ vaccine, and the belief that one is not at risk for the disease. National campaigns should be developed to increase public awareness of HZ, and more international research should be conducted to understand the WTA and WTP for HZ immunizations.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is devoted to the study of the linguistic expression of the phenomenon of pain in the texts of F.M. Dostoevsky. The material of the analysis is the texts of works of fiction, journalism and letters of the Great Russian writer. The study of Dostoevskys texts is preceded by an analysis of entries in explanatory and specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias, including articles in the Dictionary of Dostoevskys Language. The relevance of the study is determined by the approaching bicentennial of F.M. Dostoevsky, in whose works the phenomenon of pain has become one of the important subjects of the image. The specificity of this work lies in the reliance on linguistic methods of studying the phenomenon of pain while maintaining the interdisciplinary focus of the research as a whole. Various associative connections of the word pain and its derivatives in the contexts of the writers works of different genres are being studied. At the initial stage, the selection of material is carried out by the method of continuous sampling using the DiaWin software system of the Department of Experimental Lexicography of the V.V. Vinogradov Russian Language Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The material thus obtained, is subjected to a multilevel analysis, in course of which the specificity of the conceptualization of pain in language and culture is revealed and the features of the depiction and interpretation of the phenomenon of pain in the discourse of Dostoevsky and his characters are revealed. Conclusions are formulated about the stable associative connections of the lexeme pain, the specificity of the linguistic depiction of various states of pain in the writers texts is revealed, the original interpretations of the concept of pain in the discourses of heroes-ideologists are analyzed. As a result, the analyzed phenomenon appears in multidimensional illumination. The general structure of the frame is established. The relationship between external symptoms and internal sensations of physical and mental pain is revealed. It is postulated that the explication of the concept of pain by a native speaker is fraught with significant difficulties, since pain is introspective and subjectively experienced. This special state is experienced and lived on. The contextual combinations of meanings of the word pain in Dostoevskys texts are highlighted. The specificity of the figurative representation of pain situations in the writers works is revealed. The increments of meaning characteristic of Dostoevskys contexts are analyzed. As a result, pain is interpreted as a complex phenomenon of language and culture and an important concept in the discourse of F.M. Dostoevsky.

Boschee, Pam. "Comments: Global CCS Projects’ CO2 Capture Capacity Grows Nearly 50% in 2022". Journal of Petroleum Technology 74, n. 11 (1 novembre 2022): 8–9. http://dx.doi.org/10.2118/1122-0008-jpt.

Abstract (sommario):
CCS projects “accelerated” in 2022 with the CO2 capture capacity of all CCS facilities under development growing 44% over the past 12 months, bringing the total capacity of those projects to 244 mtpa of CO2. In a report released in mid-October, the Global CCS Institute said 61 new facilities were added to the project pipeline in 2022 for a current tally of 30 projects in operation, 11 under construction, and 153 in development. The Americas, especially North America, lead the world in CCS deployment. Recent US and Canadian governmental incentives were cited by the Institute in a regional overview. The US Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 includes enhancements to Internal Revenue Service Section 45Q and $369 billion in funding for climate and energy. The legislation extends the start of construction timing to the end of 2032; lowers capture thresholds, including direct pay; and expands transferability. The US Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes more than $12 billion to be spent on CCS over the next 5 years. Canada’s 2022 federal budget includes an investment tax credit: the credit rate is 60% for direct air capture projects, 50% for all other carbon capture projects, and 37.5% for transportation, storage, and use from 2022 to 2030. From 2031 to 2040, the tax rates drop to 30%, 25%, and 18.75%.The boost in activity is reflected in recent CCS‑related updates reported in JPT: - ExxonMobil joined CF Industries and EnLink in a blue ammonia project in Louisiana that could capture and store 2 million metric tons of CO2 starting in 2025. - Technip Energies signed a letter of intent to design and build a large-scale floating storage and injection hub offshore Australia. It would be the world’s first, since to date, offshore carbon capture and storage projects use pipelines to transport CO2 to injection sites. - Equinor and Wintershall Dea have agreed to develop a comprehensive CCS supply chain system connecting Germany with CSS storage on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. - Texas and Louisiana are stepping up efforts to assume regulatory authority for an emerging wave of CCS projects.- In October, Canada released draft guidelines on how new oil and gas projects should demonstrate “best-in-class” greenhouse gas emissions performance. SPE’s CO2 Storage Resources Committee, under the SPE Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization, and Storage Technical Section, published Storage Resources Management System (SRMS) Guidelines to support the commercialization of CO2 storage. Released in September, the guidelines include suggestions for the application of the SRMS with the intent of including details of the processes of quantification, categorization, and classification of storable quantities so that the subjective nature of subsurface assessments can be consistent between storage resource assessors. The role of petroleum engineers in achieving technically sound results in energy transition projects of all kinds was highlighted during a presentation at the SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition by Josh Etkind, global upstream deepwater digital transformation manager for Shell, and Rita Esuru Okoroafor, assistant professor, Texas A&M University, Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering. In their presentation in the SPE Pavilion, “Transferable Skills: Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience Skills Are Shaping the Low-Emission Energy Transition,” they shared a chart showing the core oil and gas-related technical skill sets required for low-emission energy technologies. Etkind and Okoroafor emphasized the opportunities offered by the technologies shown in the chart below for upstream petroleum engineers and young engineers entering the industry. Looking only at CCS, the Global CCS Institute’s call for the growth of global CO2 storage to “billions of tons per year to meet climate targets” from the current 40 mtpa also points to a growing need for the relevant skills and technical knowledge.

Abstract (sommario):
The article presents epistolary sources in Persian from the Dagestan collection of firmans of Persian shahs in the name of the Kaitag utsmis. At the Institute of history, archaeology and Ethnography of DFRC RAS stored microfilms of these firmans received from the National library of France, where utsmic collection hit in the second half of the ХΙХ century. Copies of the firmans of Persian shahs in the name of Kaitag utsmis exist in the libraries of Georgia. They are published by the Georgian scientists with the typed texts and translation in Georgian and Russian languages. A comparative analysis of the documents revealed that the Georgian collection is fuller than the Paris collection, there are copies made by different katibs in the collections, and there are textual discrepancies and discrepancies in the Dating of firmans. We present in this article a facsimile of the firmans of Nadir Shah addressed to one of the most influential Dagestani rulers of the XVΙΙΙ century Kaitag utsmiy Ahmad-khan, and provide their contents with appropriate comments. Firmans have informative value, serve as a good source base for studying the complex, contradictory historical period, containing a lot of white spots in the history of the Nadir Shah wars in Dagestan. The documents have high scientific value and shed light on the policy of Nadir Shah in the territories under his control, on historical events related to the struggle of the Dagestani peoples for liberation from vassalage, and the policy of the Dagestani rulers. For several years, there was a struggle between the Dagestani highlanders and the Shah of Iran. The final victory over Nadir Shah was won only when the combined forces of the Avars, Kaitag people, akushins, kumukhs, Tabasarans, and all Dagestani peoples took part in the fight against the enemy in Andalal. Firmans convey the atmosphere of historical events, threats against recalcitrant mountaineers are heard more often, the tone of Nadir's letters, promising endless Shah's favors in exchange for submission, is replaced by a menacing, sometimes offensive one.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Objective This study attempts to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to analyze personality types among current and recent ophthalmology residents. We aimed to evaluate the prevalence rates of each specific personality type in ophthalmology, and whether these changed by level of training, training program, or fellowship selection. The study aimed to evaluate whether certain personality types are more prevalent in ophthalmology as a unique medical specialty. This can help understand specialty choice and potentially predict trends in specialty selection. Study Design After obtaining institutional review board approval from Howard University Hospital, an electronic version of the MBTI questionnaire, form M, was sent to participants. In addition to the questionnaire, participants responded to four questions inquiring about home program, postgraduate training level, subspecialty interest, and work environment (if applicable). The anonymous responses of the surveys were automatically scored on google forms, and the results were analyzed by using StatView statistical analysis. Setting This study was conducted at Howard University, Georgetown University, George Washington University, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, and Kresge Eye Institute. Participants A total of 66 current residents and recent graduates of five residency programs were involved in this study. Main Outcomes and Measures This study evaluated four-letter personality type from each participant. Results Ophthalmology residents were statistically more likely to be identified in the categories of extroversion (E) than introversion (I) (p = 0.049), thinking (T) than feeling (F) (p = 0.027), and judging (J) than perceiving (P) (p = 0.007), with no statistically significant difference between sensing (S) and intuition (N). ENTP, ESTJ, and ISTJ were the most common personality types, each comprising 13.6% of the sample population. The ratio of J:P was found to increase as training level increased, beginning with postgraduate 2nd year until graduate level. Conclusion Certain personality types are more common among ophthalmology residents in our cohort from five different training programs. It is possible that individual types change over the course of residency training and career. Understanding that these findings exist can be used as a baseline for future research in terms of potential predictors for applicants, of resident knowledge base, and personality changes over the course of one's training.

Abstract (sommario):
This article aims to present the relatively unknown personality of Bohumir (Gottfried) Menzel (1798–1879) and connect his writings to the beginning of the Czech mass immigration to Texas. Adopting the thematic and discourse analyses, we can observe that his letters contain positive information on Texas that coincides with the main concerns of Czech society in the 1840s and early 1850s. Therefore, we can assume that his letters were published by the general Czech press and served as an influence for immigration to Texas. Furthermore, the passenger lists also show us that he probably led one of the first groups of migrants to Texas. The main finding of this article is that Menzel was wrongfully omitted by Czech and American historiography and should be put alongside other persons who influenced Czech mass immigration to Texas, Josef Arnošt Bergmann or Josef Lidumil Lešikar.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction. The article deals with Tibetan/Mongolian-to-Buryat translation (adaptation, Cyrillic) of Buddhist canonical texts. Goals. The study of causes and essence of the process is relevant enough, since the research problem relates to actual changes in the traditional book culture of Buryats, and issues of preserving the Buryat language in modern conditions. Materials. The work analyzes archaeographic works stored at the Institute of Mongolian, Buddhist and Tibetan Studies SB RAS (2006-2015) as well as a set of Buddhist canonical texts published in Buryatia in the pre-revolutionary period and after 1991. Conclusions. Translation (adaptation) of Buddhist canonical texts from Tibetan and Mongolian into Buryat arose from changes in everyday religious practices of ordinary Buryat Buddhists. The three forms of Tibetan/Mongolian-to-Buryat translation make it possible to conclude on the level of works aimed at the preservation of the Buryat language in the structure of religious culture, as well as the level of Buddhist revival in Buryatia. Various forms of translation (adaptation) of Buddhist canonical texts show a competition between two directions of everyday religious reading (spelling) patterns: the Mongolian letter-by-letter one, and that close to literary Buryat. These forms mirror the modern discussion that arose in the 1990s about the correspondence between Mongolian and Buryat languages for further development of Buryat culture.
