Electronic Thesis or Diss., Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas, 2023. http://www.theses.fr/2023ASSA0078.
Testo completoCombining contributions from the semiotics of images, the anthropology of the written word and media studies, this research focuses on a corpus of several hundred drawings produced in response to the Islamist terrorist attacks of January 2015 in the Île-de-France region. It establishes the extent to which the drawing, as an auxiliary and subject of discourse of popular mobilisations, constitutes a vector of cohesion between French people. The first part of the thesis shows how the attacks of January 2015 constitute a pivotal moment in remembrance practices in France and explains the connections and originality of this doctoral research. Following on from work on the sociology of the attacks, this thesis focuses primarily on the visual dimension of the messages, an aspect that has been little explored until now. The second part examines the media treatment of the attacks, looking at how the framing of an attack on freedom of expression affects the ways in which the French press and television engage the public. The third part analyses a large amount of empirical material from a number of French public and private archives. It takes account of the plurality of graphic practices and forms of politicization in three specific communication devices: ephemeral memorials in three provincial towns, walls in the capital and letters sent to the editorial staff of Charlie Hebdo
Ferro, Coline. "L'image des services de renseignement et de sécurité : France, Royaume-Uni, Allemagne et Belgique". Thesis, Paris 2, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA020109/document.
Testo completoSince the 9/11 attacks, the national intelligence communities have been considerably strengthened in many states, for example in France, in the United Kingdom, in Germany or in Belgium. These also have been reorganised. Furthermore, the intelligence services have been provided with additional means and a larger legal framework following the adoption of the antiterrorism legislation. This exposed the services to the media. Moreover, the information and transparency requirements made by citizens and parliamentarians increased in the last years. This made the intelligence services emerge from the shadows. The question about the services' image then arose. This image is a product of history and culture, but now it also evolves in function ofthe media, the news and the visibility of some actions. However, the failures are more mediatised than the successes. This image has become a challenge for the intelligence and security services because, whether positive or negative, it has consequences on political, organizational and legislative issues. Therefore, most of the French, British, German and Belgian services developed a communication policy and a real strategy: the publication of reports, websites, exhibitions,merchandising... The intelligence services use a wide range of tools. However, their communication efforts are disparate. The UK and Germany have a head start in the field. France is more shy, and Belgium even more
Traore, Bakary. "Conflit au nord du Mali : traitement médiatique par les hebdomadaires français de 1990 à 2010". Thesis, Paris 2, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014PA020015.
Testo completoSince independence, in 1960, Mali, in its Northern part, (the three administrative regions: Timbuktu, Gao and Kidal), has faced on going insecurity, across the vast Sahara desert. The Tuareg community, deeply rooted in their nomadic culture, have long dreamt of forming an independent state in the border area between Mali, Niger and Algeria. The Malian state has always opposed their irredentist claim, which counters national unityand territorial integrity. From 1990 to 2010, the process to implement peace agreements was punctuated by actions of rebels. From abroad, the French weeklies provide incomplete and biased information about this security phenomenon. Most of the time, this media coverage ignores daily realities, peace and development actions, and favourssecurity developments, attacks and reprisals between rebels and regular army. In such circumstances, it is of utmost importance for the medias to give all available information. Through my research, I thus intend to high light the gap between the coverage by the French weeklies of the conflict in the North of Mali and the ground realities, from 1990 and 2010

Testo completoThis typescript contributes to research in political communication concerning environmental issues in France. We focus in our study on the case of the "Grenelle de l'environnement" announced by Nicolas Sarkozy in 2007. It seems interesting to identify two main areas in this research. The first is the strategy of the government policy, investigating the method of the Grenelle and the reasons that led to its organization and the second axis is the media and our question concerns the relationship between both media and political fields. The later leads us to deeply study the reasons why the journalists were interested in the GDE, and analyze media coverage of the Grenelle. To test our hypotheses the research was based on a number of empirical investigations
Mansour, Dana. "Pour une culture de la participation des publics : les stratégies médiatiques d’Al Jazeera. Étude sémiotique des vidéos promotionnelles et du site web participatif Sharek : Al Jazeera face à la guerre de Gaza (2009) et aux révolutions arabes (2011)". Thesis, Paris 2, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018PA020028/document.
Testo completoThe co-production of information with the Arab viewer has always been the directive editorial line that distinguished the Qatari channel Al Jazeera since its creation in 1996. Over the years, the recipe has paid off, making Al Jazeera the most watched international news channel in the Arab world. The strategic choice of the channel to make the Arab spectator, long marginalized in the media, an ally is explained by a desire for legitimacy by the emir Hamad ben Khalifa al-Thani especially after the coup against his father in 1995. Nevertheless, cutting off from the old regime imposes substantial changes. With the first political debates on Al Jazeera, the status of the Arab viewer changes dramatically. They become actors and participate with their questions and comments at the cost of a simple phone call. But at the same time, Al Jazeera becomes the enemy of the Arab regimes. Over the years, the Qatari channel won the trust of many viewers, especially during its coverage of major crises in the Arab world, like the second Intifada in 2000 and the American invasion of Iraq in 2003. Through its media coverage from the ground in hot zones, it differentiates itself from other news channels. The year of 2011 was a major turning point in the history of the channel. From day one, Al Jazeera covered the rising demonstrations in the Arab countries. The declared war of autocratic regimes against Al Jazeera does not prevent it from covering stories. Aware of the contributions of digital media, the channel gives spectators the means to participate in the creation and circulation of information. The promotional videos of Al Jazeera are a concrete example. Throuh their short form which enables them to travel from one medium to another; they become an object of media activism. As for the digital platform Sharek, it shows how the channel involves the Arab spectator in the process of spreading and archiving information
Caillat, Domitille. "Le discours rapporté dans les débats politiques télévisés : formes et fonctions des recours au discours autre : le cas des débats de l'entre-deux-tours des présidentielles françaises (1974-2012)". Doctoral thesis, Universite Libre de Bruxelles, 2016. http://hdl.handle.net/2013/ULB-DIPOT:oai:dipot.ulb.ac.be:2013/247536.
Testo completoGrounded in the framework of the discourse-in-interaction analysis, this work analyses the forms and functions of reported speech within the six second-round debates of the French presidential election taking place in France between 1974 and 2012. Its object is to precisely determine the purpose of reported speech (which one might think that it is not truly constitutive of the genre) within these interactions in which candidates’main aims are self-promotion and the opponent depreciation.By analysing in details the almost four hundreds extracts recorded in the corpus, our work shows that reported speeches aim, depending on their place within the exchanges, their source (the opponent, a third party or the speaker) and their propositional content, three different purposes we can consider as self-promotion, defence and argument — these purposes can be furthermore supported by some para- and non-verbal elements (voice movements, facial expression, posture, eye expression and gesture deployed at the same time).Following an initial intuition, this study reveals that not only reported speeches serve the candidates’ main goals during debates, but also, depending on their source, they assure different and complementary functions (functions serving the dynamic within the exchanges and the construction of a speech in confrontation, functions exclusively argumentative, or also functions relating to the debates global purpose).

Buduchev, Vitaly. "La fabrique médiatique des élections biélorusses : la lecture nationale de l’événement et les représentations transnationales à l’épreuve des dynamiques coopératives". Thesis, Sorbonne université, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019SORUL018.
Testo completoThis work focuses on the journalists from Russian and French daily newspapers who cover political events on the Belarussian territory. Their own national and transnational representations, are at the center of our questioning. The way their cooperative interactions elaborate the Russian and French audience's perception of the Belarusian elections is another aspect of this work. Their narrative, framed by each newspaper's editorial project for which they work is the third aspect this thesis explores. Our goal is to identify the common values that tie together the different actors of the world of information in Minsk, which is motivated by foreign reporters. Furthermore, we shed light on inner dynamics within the groups that take part in the mutual production of information, which create distinct communities that make up this world and are united around their own objectives, their own identities, and their own narrative. This is where the matter of borders between these communities lies and allows us to reveal the foreign reporters' team and the Belarusian dissident community. This work also interrogates the structures of both communities, the relationships between their respective members, their inner conventions, the relations between colleagues and individuals outside of the group. Finally, we explore the results of such cooperation, which are in line with the editorial projects of the Russian and French newspapers. Thus we analyze the expression of professional logistics on an editorial scale that transpires through the enunciation of the different press titles
