Abstract (sommario):
According to the document spirit of the Ministry of Education's "Regulations on the construction of counselors in colleges and universities", college counselors are the organizers, implementors, guides and guides of ideological and political education of college students. College counselors shoulder the responsibility of teaching and educating people, teaching students to deal with people, training students to endure hardships, experience students' perseverance, shape noble moral sentiments, guide them to establish a correct world outlook, outlook on life and values, and promote students' all-round development. Lead students to learn new ideas, new thoughts and new strategies, guide students to practice core socialist values, and help students strengthen their confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Counselors should grasp students' ideological dynamics, behavioral conditions, public opinion management and supervision, and guide students to deal with specific problems in ideological understanding, career planning, value orientation, study and life, career selection and friends. This paper takes Guangzhou Huashang Vocational College as an example to explore the effective way to realize the relevant construction.

Abstract (sommario):
College students often face a variety of psychological problems due to the transition to higher education, academic pressure, social challenges, and lifestyle changes. Common psychological issues among college students include stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, and adjustment difficulties. These problems can significantly impact students' academic performance, overall well-being, and quality of life. Factors such as academic workload, financial stress, relationship issues, and homesickness can exacerbate psychological distress among college students. This paper presents an innovative approach to addressing college student mental health challenges through the integration of a Recommender System with Psychometric Data Analytics (RC-PDA). With rising concerns about the psychological well-being of college students, there is a growing need for personalized and targeted interventions to support their mental health needs. RC-PDA offers a novel solution by harnessing psychometric data and decision tree algorithms to provide personalized assessments and interventions tailored to individual student profiles. Through the analysis of psychometric data, RC-PDA accurately predicts student well-being levels and guides the implementation of interventions aimed at alleviating stress and promoting mental health. This paper discusses the methodology and findings of a study that evaluates the effectiveness of RC-PDA in supporting college student mental health. Through the analysis of psychometric data, RC-PDA accurately predicts student well-being levels with an average accuracy of 85% and guides the implementation of interventions aimed at alleviating stress and promoting mental health. This paper discusses the methodology and findings of a study that evaluates the effectiveness of RC-PDA in supporting college student mental health. Results demonstrate the utility of RC-PDA in predicting student well-being levels and reducing stress levels by an average of 20% through targeted interventions.

Abstract (sommario):
The process of choosing a career requires not only familiarity but a certain amount of vision about what one finds meaningful. Decision-making at its core is the process we use to reach important choices after completing higher studies. The main idea of our project is to guide the students who are completing their schooling and getting into their college education. It is vital to take time and consider exactly what one wants. Choosing the right institution to start our career includes parameters like Perspective, Internship opportunities, Safety, Academic support, Campus life, Placement records, Location, cost, and so on. After a survey on determining career satisfaction and identifying factors that are most significant in choosing colleges, we have planned to guide the students by developing an application using Spring BootJSP, MySQL, and JVM, where everyone would get answers to their questions. This application includes college details (placement details, number of seats available during counselling) separated by the respective district. The additional advantage is that we have also provided an option to generate feedback about each college by the alumni, which will be more helpful. This application suits all branches of students (Medical students, Engineering, and Arts students). Users can sort the college by their respective district and provide the required Branch. After giving the necessary details, one can get the information regarding the desired college.

Abstract (sommario):
This phenomenological study investigated community leaders’ perceptions of the small, rural community college contributing to quality of life. Guided by the Community Capitals Framework (Flora & Flora, 2013), six focus group interviews were conducted across three communities in the Midwest that included 39 participants selected through key informant sampling. The study found that community leaders perceive the small rural community college contributing to quality of life through three major themes: a) providing access and opportunity, b) economic and workforce development, and c) partnerships. Findings suggest that small, rural community colleges contribute to quality of life by increasing human and social capital through the themes. Implications for practice include increasing student support services resources at community colleges, increasing service learning through partnerships, and developing a framework for self-assessment to further develop the small, rural community college understanding of its impact on developing human capital and social capitals.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – The reviewed literature emphasized that the student loan debt issues have a lot of connections to the economy. This conclusion is in support with broader evidence that high student debt levels are a drag on economic growth. Additionally, disadvantaged and other vulnerable groups, including students, are more likely to be excluded from the formal, regulated financial sector and not be able to take advantage of mainstream financial service providers (e.g. lack access to credit, insurance, and other formal financial services). Among the primary reasons cited for this financial exclusion has to do with a lack of understanding or familiarity with traditional financial services. The aim of this paper is to look at alternate approaches in promoting financial literacy to manage the huge private debt burden facing this important segment of the population. The purpose of this paper is to advance a model of college students’ financial capabilities enhancement to partially alleviate some of the problems related to deficits in financial knowledge among this population. The integrative model provides a framework to be operationalized by institutional decision-makers and policymakers at all levels. The model can be adapted to fit unique institutional circumstances and culture. Successful implementation of the model has the potential to enhance the quality of financial health among college students and young adults. Design/methodology/approach – The manuscript’s aim is to advance a model of college students’ financial capabilities in an effort to prevent their financial exclusion. The proposed model provides a framework to be operationalized by institutional decision-making processes. The model offers six distinct, but inter-related components – antecedent variables, program design and implementation, delivery modalities, program content, behavioral outcomes, and measurement and assessment. Findings – The underlying raison d’etre for the model is to offer a comprehensive, inclusive, across-the-board roadmap to guide universities, and other organizations in conceptualizing, planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing financial education-related systems and processes designed to enhance the long-term financial choices and behaviors of students. Through careful consideration of each of the phases of the model, decision-makers at all levels and all types of organizations should have a stronger grasp of the depth and breadth of actions required to effect the desired changes in students’ financial behavior. Research limitations/implications – As with any paper there are limitations. The paper is conceptual and lacks data to test some of the linkages. Future research efforts should posit specific propositions to be tested based on the linkages offered in the model. Given the nature of the research theme, there is considerable benefit from taking a case-based approach to future research to offer more in-depth analyses of student financial literacy deficits across different situations and types, student markets, and educational institutions. The current research could also benefit from a stronger cross-cultural focus. While huge college student debt is probably more burdensome in the USA, it is helpful to get input from students in countries that lack a tradition of heavy borrowing to pay for college costs. Researching debt management trends across cultures should provide useful micro- and macro-economic data for policymakers and others. Practical implications – The paper introduces a model of college students’ financial capabilities enhancement and financial exclusion’s prevention that offers one avenue to partially remedy the direct and indirect ills perpetrated and perpetuated by insufficient financial knowledge among young adults, especially the college segment (i.e. to promote financial inclusion and financial exclusion’s prevention). The model provides a comprehensive and integrative path for college administrators and others to consider when designing programs to enhance the overall financial knowledge acumen and savvy of college students. Specifically, the model discusses antecedent variables, program design and implementation, delivery modalities, program content, behavioral outcomes, and measure and evaluation options. Social implications – There is considerable concern among students, parents, marketers, and public policymakers regarding deficiencies in financial knowledge and capabilities among the young adult population. Students have massive student loan debt, collectively, and there is a multifaceted clarion call to develop integrative solutions to this daunting scenario. The paper discusses the gravity and consequences of financial literacy deficits among college students and some associated solutions. Originality/value – The model offers six distinct, but inter-related components – antecedent variables, program design and implementation, delivery modalities, program content, behavioral outcomes, and measurement and assessment. The model is posited as an “intervention strategy” capable of strengthening the capacity of young college adults to make informed financial decisions, thus impacting their quality of life over the long run. In particular the model offers a form of empowerment to this consumer segment. As stated, the underlying raison d’etre for the model is to offer a comprehensive, inclusive, across-the-board roadmap to guide universities and other organizations in conceptualizing, planning, organizing, implementing, and assessing financial education-related systems and processes designed to enhance the long-term financial choices and behaviors of students. Through careful consideration of each of the phases of the model, decision-makers at all levels and all types of organizations should have a stronger grasp of the depth and breadth of actions required to effect the desired changes in students’ financial behavior.

Abstract (sommario):
Inherent challenges affect first-generation students’ persistence from as early as the first college year. Using cultural capital as a guide, this study is unique in that it investigates the contribution of first-year policies and programs to the success of first-generation students in 57 bachelor’s degree–granting institutions across five states (California, Florida, Iowa, Texas, and Pennsylvania). We identified at least three policies that seem to hold promise toward improving the experience and outcomes for first-year first-generation college students. These policies were (a) residential life or campus support staff who are available and knowledgeable, (b) faculty who attend faculty orientation that includes information about first-year student experiences, and (c) faculty who attend first-year student orientation or attend first-year conferences or workshops. However, policies we might naturally expect to have been useful (e.g., information dissemination to parents, early alert intervention initiatives) showed no statistical significance. The article concludes with implications and recommendations.

Abstract (sommario):
There has been a growing interest in student debt research in recent years among researchers and graduate students. Student loan has become a popular means of financing the increasing cost of higher education among millennia, thus spurring the rising interest of researchers in this area. However, the availability of established theories related to the student debt topic is limited. The purpose of this study is to add to the limited literature of theories in student debt scholarship. This study links two economic theories, four finance theories, and two education theories to student debt literature. The economic theories (human capital theory and life cycle Model) emphasize the role of student loans in fostering investment in human capital and its impact on future consumption. This study also examines four debt repayment models (the debt snowball model, the balance-matching model, the debt avalanche model, and the debt consolidation model) suggested by various financial advisors on debt repayments, which postulate four distinct strategies on how debtors can settle their loans. The education theories (Tinto student departure model and John Bean’s explanatory theory of student retention model) highlight the importance of student retention at colleges to ensure college completion, which in turn increases the chances of getting a job; thus, guaranteeing loan repayment. These theories will serve as a theoretical framework guide to researchers, especially graduate students who are working on their thesis or dissertation on the student loan debt topic.

Abstract (sommario):
We developed the Blooming Biology Tool (BBT), an assessment tool based on Bloom's Taxonomy, to assist science faculty in better aligning their assessments with their teaching activities and to help students enhance their study skills and metacognition. The work presented here shows how assessment tools, such as the BBT, can be used to guide and enhance teaching and student learning in a discipline-specific manner in postsecondary education. The BBT was first designed and extensively tested for a study in which we ranked almost 600 science questions from college life science exams and standardized tests. The BBT was then implemented in three different collegiate settings. Implementation of the BBT helped us to adjust our teaching to better enhance our students' current mastery of the material, design questions at higher cognitive skills levels, and assist students in studying for college-level exams and in writing study questions at higher levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. From this work we also created a suite of complementary tools that can assist biology faculty in creating classroom materials and exams at the appropriate level of Bloom's Taxonomy and students to successfully develop and answer questions that require higher-order cognitive skills.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose Minority female students are increasingly faced with issues such as financial instability, work-family imbalance, and few growth opportunities in their careers. Within the context of community colleges, the presence of minority female administrators may serve as a venue for the empowerment and attainment of academic and professional goals for minority female students through administrators’ mentoring practices. The purpose of this paper is to explore the lived experience of community college minority female administrators in their role as informal mentors to community college minority female students. Design/methodology/approach The author used a qualitative phenomenological approach to explore community college minority female administrators’ experiences as mentors of female minority students. Mullen’s (2009) alternative mentoring model guided the study as well as a feminist lens. The purposive sample included six minority female administrators from two Florida community colleges, with individual interviews based on 18 open-ended questions. Data were analyzed with Atlas.ti™ qualitative software. Findings The findings uncovered four common themes and seven subthemes regarding the experience of informal mentoring as a minority female administrator: facilitating empowerment with two subthemes – modeling and coaching; administrator-student relationship with three subthemes – encouragement, life experiences, and past mentors; personal growth; and formalized mentoring with two subthemes – create a support system and access to information. Research limitations/implications In any study, phenomenological or otherwise, the researcher’s biases may cloud the data analysis process, and the researcher may code the data incorrectly or leave out crucial information during the transcription of the interview. It was essential for the author to understand the concept of epochè to bracket the author’s own experiences as a minority female (Bloomberg and Volpe, 2012). The purposeful sample was small and only focused on one region in the US, and the study’s findings may not be transferable to other contexts. Originality/value Minority female administrators’ experiences mentoring minority female students have not been comprehensively explored in the scholarly realm; hence, their mentoring journey is unknown. The study sought to shatter that silence and create a dialogue that will hopefully continue in the field of mentoring.

Abstract Mandatory military service has been an inescapable fact of life for young men in South Korea from the time of the Korean War. It continues to this day, despite the country’s neoliberal transformation that began following the Asian financial crisis of 1997 and the extension of the neoliberal values of market competition, individual freedom, and meritocracy into all facets of contemporary South Korean life; and despite the contradiction between an ideology of freedom and rational choices and an institution that obligates men to serve in the military or face imprisonment. Based on interviews with forty-five South Korean college students who had recently completed their military service, this study examines how the neoliberal ethos instilled in Korean millennials as they grew up in the twenty-first century guides their decisions and strategies regarding military service.

Abstract (sommario):
Life science professional societies play important roles for undergraduates in their fields and increasingly offer membership, fellowships, and awards for undergraduate students. However, the overall impacts of society-student interactions have not been well studied. Here, we sought to develop and test a pilot survey of undergraduate students to determine how they got involved in research and in presenting at the Experimental Biology (EB) meeting, what they gained from the scientific and career development sessions at the meeting, and how the American Physiological Society (APS) can best support and engage undergraduate students. This survey was administered in 2014 and 2015 to undergraduate students who submitted physiology abstracts for and attended EB. More than 150 students responded (38% response rate). Respondents were demographically representative of undergraduate students majoring in life sciences in the United States. Most students (72%) became involved in research through a summer research program or college course. They attended a variety of EB sessions, including poster sessions and symposia, and found them useful. Undergraduate students interacted with established researchers at multiple venues. Students recommended that APS provide more research fellowships (25%) and keep in touch with students via both e-mail (46%) and social media (37%). Our results indicate that APS’ EB undergraduate activities are valued by students and are effective in helping them have a positive scientific meeting experience. These results also guided the development of a more streamlined survey for use in future years.

Abstract (sommario):
This article examines spiritual struggle in bereft Christian evangelical students and how struggle might potentiate spiritual growth. The death loss of a close person can result in shattered assumptions about the world that trigger spiritual questions and struggle and spiritual struggle can be a catalyst for growth. To our knowledge, spiritual growth has not been measured utilizing the actual voices of those struggling with the loss, nor has it been measured in Christian evangelical populations who may find it more threatening to yield to spiritual questioning. The Spirit-centered Change Model guides our conceptualization of spiritual growth from a Christian evangelical perspective. Utilizing a mixed methods design, bereft college students (n=161) at a Christian evangelical university answered questionnaires about religious coping, daily spiritual experiences, meaning in life, and open-ended questions about their spiritual growth and how students’ beliefs about God had changed after the loss. Compared to non-bereft peers, bereft students reported higher daily spiritual experiences, but bereft students who struggled spiritually reported less meaning and daily spiritual experiences than bereft students who did not struggle. Narrative responses indicated that spiritual struggle simultaneously tended to reflect more expansive beliefs around God and a deepened spirituality, according to the Spirit-centered Change Model. Results reflect a first empirical step toward measuring spiritual growth as epistemological change.

Abstract (sommario):
This article discusses how Extensive Reading (ER) activities promote English as a Foreign Language (EFL) college students’ entrepreneurship enthusiasm by giving the chance to the individual student to select the topic to be read based on the most interesting one in his/her life. As ER is defined as pleasure reading, most of the previous research reports promoting ER activities for EFL students deal mostly with reading literary texts. For EFL college students, however, ER should not focus on reading literary texts, but also on the academic and popular ones. They need to be able to read a wide range of academic and popular texts for school task demands and for their prospective work purpose. They should be encouraged to read other types of texts other than literary one—which can improve their entrepreneurship enthusiasm. The method used in this study is classroom action research by implementing Project Based Learning (PBL) in two cycles. The results of this study showed that in the first cycle the students were able to read everything about the most interesting thing in their life guided by the mind map usage, made papers of reading reports based on both printed and digital resources, made the slides of oral report contained project plan of entrepreneurship products or services. In the second cycle the students were able to complete the project in form of portfolio contained the complete plan of entrepreneurship products and/or services. It is concluded that the implementing of PBL can promote EFL students’ entrepreneurship enthusiasm.

Abstract (sommario):
User-centered developmental processes are critical to ensuring acceptability of e-health behavioral interventions, and yet physical activity research continues to be inundated with top-down developmental approaches. The IDEAS (Integrate, Design, Assess, and Share) framework outlines a user-centered process for development of e-health interventions. The purpose of this manuscript is to describe the application of the IDEAS framework in adapting a web-based physical activity intervention for young adult college students. Steps 1–3 emphasized integrating insights from users and theory and Steps 4–7 focused on iterative and rapid design with user feedback. Data were collected via repeat qualitative interviews with young adult college students (N = 7). Resulting qualitative metathemes were engagement, accountability, and cultural fit. Therefore, intervention modifications focused on strategies to foster ongoing engagement with the program (e.g., increase interactivity), support personal and social accountability (e.g., private social media group), and provide a cultural fit within the college lifestyle (e.g., images relevant to student life). The resulting web-based intervention included eight weekly lessons, an expanded resource library, “how-to” videos, step and goal trackers, and a private social media group to be led by a wellness coach. In conclusion, the IDEAS framework guided an efficient, user-centered adaptation process that integrated empirical evidence and behavior change theory with user preferences and feedback. Furthermore, the process allowed us to address barriers to acceptability during the design and build stages rather than at later stages of pilot and efficacy testing.

Abstract (sommario):
This research aims to investigate the level of awareness and readiness of final year Christian students in adopting a biblical-based exile lifestyle model. Two research questions and two hypotheses were proposed to guide this study. A descriptive survey research design was employed. The sampling technique used proportional multistage stratified random sampling method to obtain a sample size of 340 final year Christian students in State-owned colleges in Imo Province. The researcher-developed assessment scale titled "Christian Students' Awareness and Readiness Scale for Facing Life Challenges in Exile (CAPLCERS)" was utilized for data collection. This assessment scale comprises two clusters, A and B, with internal consistency reliabilities measured using Cronbach's Alpha of 0.78 and 0.82 respectively. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer research questions, while z-test was employed to test hypotheses at a significance level of 0.05. The research findings indicate that the level of awareness among final year Christian students regarding life challenges in exile during the one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program is significantly below the expected average. Meanwhile, their readiness level to adopt biblical models for survival and growth in exile is significantly above the expected average. Based on these findings, the research recommends several actions: college authorities need to equip final year students with awareness of potential life challenges they may face during the one-year NYSC program; campus Christian fellowships also need to help prepare their members with biblical models and principles that can assist Christians in surviving and thriving in exile situations; and Christian fellowships or organizations in NYSC training camps need to assist Christian Corps members in integrating and striving for welfare in their placement areas while learning to love and contribute to the growth of communities that may differ in beliefs and cultures.

Abstract (sommario):
Critical thinking skills are one of the important elements that must be possessed by students. In learning, critical thinking skills have been applied in learning environments to address student challenges in the 21st century. This study aims to explore students' critical thinking skills during the learning process using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the probing prompting technique. The method used in this study was a literature review, by analyzing and synthesizing several Physics education journals published in 2017-2022 which discussed critical thinking skills, Problem-Based Learning (PBL) models, and probing prompting techniques with the research sample being students at elaboration of junior, high school, and college students who have different levels of understanding. Based on the results of the 40 journals in this study, it was found that the PBL model assisted by the probing prompting technique is an innovative learning model that can be applied in active learning to improve critical thinking skills, which is one of the dimensions in the Pancasila student profile. This is because this model displays various problems that occur in everyday life, through a series of questions as a guide so that it can stimulate students to seek and find solutions to a problem. The results of this study can be used as recommendations for teachers in classroom learning activities to improve students’ critical thinking skills.

Abstract (sommario):
Indian Knowledge Tradition believes that education is not just the beginning of the spiritual life of mankind, but it is also the training of human soul. It aims at all round development of an individual. Education plays an important role in shaping a country’s socio-economic growth. India is one of the fastest growing economies with a huge human resource. With such vast human capital, the scope of higher education is very much wider in comparison to the other countries. We, in India have the tradition of believing and recognizing “Maa Saraswati” as the goddess of knowledge. We have Vedas, Upanishads, puranas in our core value system. The Bhagwad Gita enlightens and guides mankind in the gravest of life’s problems and awakens not just human mind but also enlightens human soul. The role of women scholars in the Vedic era in developing and enriching Indian tradition cannot be undermined. Takshashila is regarded as the oldest university in the world. While Nalanda, Vikramshila in Bihar are the examples of many distinguished centers of higher education centers in India, which were way ahead of times. The main aim of such higher education institution was to impart Vedic knowledge which leads to spiritual growth. The glory can be traced from the writings of many of the foreign travelers who came to visit Bharat during those times in order to not just see the prevailing higher education system but also to attain knowledge. Our modern education system is largely based on colonial legacy and English education pattern. The foreign invasion and the British rule destroyed traditional Indian educational system in a planned way. According to UNESCO, there are around 235 million students enrolled in different universities around the world. If India is willing to become a super power someday it will only be through knowledge-based society. In this paper we will be discussing the issues and challenges before the higher education system in Bihar. There are 17 state Universities in Bihar, each university has broadly two types of colleges- namely Constituent college and Affiliated college. Constituent Colleges are more or less like Government College and Affiliated colleges are like Private college. This research is primarily focused on the constituent colleges. Present paper seeks to highlight different issues and hindrances before the higher education system in Bihar e.g. Low Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), inadequate Pupil-Teacher ratio, delayed session, poor attendance of students in college, absence of proper laboratory facility, NAAC accreditation, implementation of National Education policy 2020 etc. This is an empirical research based on observational methodology. Higher education has experienced expansion both in terms of institutions and enrolment over the period of time, but it has not been sufficient. Present higher education system has total disconnect from our great ancient tradition. Innovative and transformative strategies need to be implemented on priority basis at the higher education level.

Abstract (sommario):
During the early 2010s, undocumented youth activists were leading the charge to gain congressional support for the federal Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act, which sought to provide a pathway to citizenship for eligible undocumented youth in the United States. Led primarily by Latino college students and graduates, this movement became very attentive to and inclusive of the concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer members. Drawing on semi-structured interviews of Latino lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer undocumented youth and other documentary evidence, this article demonstrates how activists can deploy intersectionality as a collective action frame that serves multiple purposes. Specifically, intersectionality can function as: (1) a diagnostic frame to help activists make sense of their own multiply-marginalized identities; (2) a motivational frame to inspire action; and (3) a prognostic frame that guides how activists build inclusive organizations and bridge social movements. We show how this frame guided the ways in which lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer and other undocumented activists interpreted their own life experiences, prompted them to build inclusive organizations, and broadened the scope of their movement. We conclude by arguing that activists have the potential to adopt intersectionality as a master frame that strengthens ties among various movements mobilizing marginalized populations.

Abstract (sommario):
Colleges of agriculture in the US have been challenged to produce candidates prepared with the knowledge, skills, and disposition to engage in a global agricultural industry. Studies show that one of the most influential factors in secondary student perceptions and outlook is their secondary teachers. The adult learning theory of transformative learning by Mezirow indicates a process of making a new or revised interpretation of the meaning of an experience, which guides subsequent understanding, appreciation, and action that is anchored in life experience. To have the most impact, experiences should be grounded in a context that students can relate. Nineteen teacher candidates participated in a course with a short term study abroad component that was grounded in global school-based agricultural education. Students were administered a researcher-developed instrument measuring knowledge, skills and dispositions of global competency three times: round I -prior to the course, round II -after the course prior to the travel experience, and round III after the travel experience. Findings indicated substantial, sustained change in the candidate knowledge, candidate perceptions of knowledge, candidate perceptions of skills, and candidate perceptions of dispositions related to global competency. Further research is recommended to measure impact on practice in the secondary agriscience classroom.

Abstract (sommario):
The article illustrates the life and creative activity of German pianist and pedagogue Karl Eduard Weber in Russia. Weber received his education at the Leipzig Conservatory. In 1854 he went to Russia, where musicians of high professional level were on demand, and taught for over 20 years at the Tambov Music College. However, having engaged in pedagogical activity in various Russian cities, Weber frequently experienced discontent. Having observed the unsatisfactory level of musical education, he began creating methodological works. Among them, those which became famous and were disseminated were “Rukovodstvo k sistematicheskomu obucheniyu igre na fortepiano” [“A Manual for the Systematic Instruction of Playing the Piano”] (1866), and “Putevoditel' pri obuchenii igre na fortepiano” [“A Guide to Instruction of Piano Playing”] (1876). In 1881 Karl Eduard Weber received the position of an instructor at the Tambov Alexandrinsky Institute for Noble Girls. In 1889 he switched to working at the Tambov Musical Classes (since 1900 — the Tambov Music College), where he worked until the end of his life (1913).Weber brought up the talented student Anna Gravert-Lavdovskaya (1881 – 1888). She provided initial instruction to the future outstanding pianist Victor Merzhanov. Therein, undoubtedly, lies a great merit of the Weber school. Many of the foundational traits of piano pedagogy of Karl Eduard Weber are inherent to the pedagogy of Victor K. Merzhanov.

Abstract (sommario):
Patient satisfaction and quality of life are integral to assessing oral health care quality. For many Americans still using conventional complete dentures (CDs) or implant-retained mandibular overdentures (IODs), it remains essential to consider improving their oral health outcomes and quality of life. Due to inexperienced student dentists providing dental care to dental school patients, patient grievances are generally considered a problem. Patient feedback and satisfaction have proven valuable resources for monitoring and improving patient safety. While CDs and IODs are the 2 leading treatment options for edentulism, more comparative studies in the literature need to compare their outcomes in a school setting. The research question that guided this comparative analysis was, “Is patient satisfaction and quality of life affected by the type of prostheses and provider?” A validated questionnaire was mailed to 520 individuals selected from records of patients who had received treatment for edentulous mandible at a student prosthodontic clinic at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry from 2014 to 2016 with at least 1 year of follow-up time. A validated questionnaire for edentulous patients based on the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP-19) was used. In addition, information on patients’ oral health-related quality of life, including questions related to the edentulous patients’ satisfaction with their dentures, was collected. The response rate was 33% (N = 171). The study’s findings confirm previous findings, suggesting that IODs may significantly impact oral health-related quality of life. Data show that 76% of the IOD group reported improvement in experience when using the implants to retain the mandibular denture. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the OHIP scores between overall CD and IOD patient groups. Males with IODs had lower physical pain, limitations, and disability scores than males with CD. However, females with IODs reported more significant concerns associated with a social disability and handicap domains. Comparing users who had experiences with both treatment options, this study discerned essential characteristics that contribute to increased patient satisfaction with IODs and identified significance in outcomes by gender. These findings guide prosthodontic practitioners’ patient care practices and identify a continuing need to discuss CD and IOD treatment protocols within dental school curricula.

Abstract (sommario):
This research offers a gugak class plan designed for teaching gugak (Korean traditional music) in a higher level of lifelong education linking remote and face-to-face classes. By examining educational goal and the request of both the program provider and the middle-aged and elderly student group, this study aims to scrutinize conceptional expansion of gugak education, and to suggest theoretical ground with a concrete example that can elevate the quality of lifelong education. The gugak class, as a part of college liberal arts program, is designed to raise a culturally creative person and to help them understand rapidly changing contemporary society. It is supposed to provide students with some aspects of sentimental relief, social interaction, and access to musical practice. Students are expected to listen to gugak from a critical perspective on the basis of understanding its aesthetic values. All the class works as well as academic discussions are planned to deal with contemporary social issues in relation to gugak. Along with the knowledge, the gugak class should be able to guide the students with how to take advantage of gugak infrastructure, such as local concert venues and free performances, so the middle-aged and elderly students, by themselves, can enjoy and understand the music for the rest of their life, not to mention the inspiration for further academic or professional challenge.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Background Freshman adaptation has always been one of the important topics in academic research. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of introductory courses on Freshmen's college adaptation and the related aspects of emotion regulation. Subjects and Methods 404 freshmen in a university in Zhejiang Province were investigated by using the psychological survey based on Student Adaptability Scale (sacq) and the survey method of introduction course quality. The anxiety scale designed by Kim was used as the measurement scale, and the scale was evaluated by Likert scoring method. Pearson correlation, standard deviation and statistical significance are combined to illustrate the correlation. T-test of independent samples was used to verify the difference between high anxiety group and low anxiety group. 397 copies have been returned, of which 384 are valid. SPSS 22.0 and Amos 21.0 were used for statistical analysis. In addition, according to the statistical value of anxiety, Adelmann (1989) regarded the emotional function as a whole according to Hochschild's definition of emotional function, and compiled a one-dimensional emotional labor scale composed of five items, with low internal consistency coefficient. The scale compiled by brotheridge and Lee (1998) is divided into two dimensions: surface play and deep play, which is composed of six items. Surface acting projects, in your daily work, you inhibit the frequency of expressing real emotions every day. Deep acting projects, how often you try to experience the emotions you have to express. The emotional labor scale compiled by brotheridge (2002) consists of 40 items. Through confirmatory factor analysis, the items with low factor load were deleted, and the scale used in the formal test was composed of 15 items. The scale includes six dimensions; The frequency, intensity, diversity, continuity of communication, surface play and deep play of emotional performance. Results “The quality of introduction course” and “research and academic atmosphere” jointly explained the difference of “overall university adaptation” of 61% of freshmen, among which the quality of introduction course had the greatest impact. The most powerful predictor of Freshmen's academic adaptation is the quality of introductory courses (β =0.48). Academic research atmosphere has the greatest impact on interpersonal adaptation (β =0.36). The biggest impact on psychological adjustment is the teaching quality of introductory courses (β =0.26), followed by academic research atmosphere (β =0.19). Academic research atmosphere has the greatest impact on life adaptation (β =0.21). (β =0.19). The most influential factor on life adaptation is the academic research atmosphere (β=0.21). Generally speaking, freshmen have a higher degree of adaptation to interpersonal relationships and campus life, a lower degree of adaptation to psychological adjustment, and the lowest degree of adaptation to university learning. In addition, the study also found that the adaptation problems of college students are mainly anxiety, and anxiety is negatively correlated with achievement. Similarly, there is a significant negative correlation between anxiety and self-efficacy. State anxiety, trait anxiety and learning anxiety are all positively correlated. The “anxiety” component of personality characteristics plays a great role in the generation of anxiety. The correlation coefficient between LCAS and trait anxiety was 0.408, while the correlation coefficient between LCAS and state anxiety was 0.395. Both reached a significant level (P < 0.01). There was a positive correlation between self-efficacy and achievement. Research shows that anxiety, gender and self-efficacy can be used as comprehensive variables to measure academic achievement. Conclusion The following conclusions are drawn: (1) universities should pay attention to improving the quality of introduction course and creating a good academic research environment, because it directly affects the freshmen's University adaptability. Freshmen's college adaptation is not just the responsibility of counselors and logistics personnel. Although these tasks are also important, their impact on Freshmen's university adaptation is far less than that of direct academic services. (2) In order to better adapt to university study and adjust their mentality, universities should pay attention to improving the quality of introductory courses. At the same time, in order to promote freshmen to better adapt to interpersonal relationships and life, universities should pay attention to creating a good academic research atmosphere. (3) We should pay attention to the college adaptation and psychological adaptation of freshmen, the learning adaptation of Engineering Freshmen, and the interpersonal adaptation of Engineering Freshmen and boys. In short, we should give full play to the important influence of Discipline Distribution on students' adaptability, actively pay attention to the changes of their psychology, emotion and behavior, and their impact on positive and active behavior, and strive to become the builder, manager, coordinator and collaborator of the environment. According to the psychological characteristics of this part of the group, flexibly organize rich activities, strive to build a relaxed and harmonious living atmosphere, create a friendly and mutual aid relationship, encourage and guide this part of the group, adjust their psychology to the best state, and promote their good cognition and healthy development of life.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report the training of college librarians, academic and management staff, IT managers and students on how to organise, manage and use a user-friendly library. In Uganda, as in many countries, the problem is that school and/or college libraries are managed by librarians who may have good cataloguing and management skills, but who do not have the pedagogic skills and knowledge of the school curricula that are necessary for librarians to be able to guide and mentor both teachers and students or organise curriculum-related activities or facilitate research. The development of user-friendly libraries contributes in improving education quality through nurturing the interest of students and teachers in literacy activities and active search for knowledge. Under the stewardship of the Belgium Technical Cooperation and the Ministry of Education in Uganda, library stakeholders were trained on how to put users – rather than themselves – in the centre of the library’s operations and introduced to active teaching and learning methodologies and activities with emphasis on getting engaged in transforming spaces, services, outreach to users and collections. Several measures, short and long term were taken to address the gaps limiting the performance of the librarians. Given the disparities in the trainees’ education level and work experience, the training was delivered in seven modules divided into three units for over eight months in 2015. By the end of the training, trainees developed unique library strategic plan, library policies and procedures, capacity to use library systems, physical design and maintenance systems, partnerships, library structure and staff job descriptions. Design/methodology/approach To effectively engage the participants each topic was conducted using active teaching and learning (ATL) methodologies, including: lecture with slides and hands-on practice – each topic was introduced in a lecture form with slides and hands-on exercises. The main goal was to introduce the participants to the concepts discussed, offer opportunities to explore alternative approaches, as well define boundaries for discussion through brainstorming. The question-answer approach kept the participants alert and to start thinking critically on the topic discussed – brainstorming sessions allowed thinking beyond the presentation room, drawing from personal experiences to provide alternatives to anticipated challenges. The goal here was for the participants to provide individual choices and approaches for real life problems; group discussions: case study/ scenario and participant presentations – participants were provided with a scenario and asked to provide alternative approaches that could solve the problem based on their personal experience at their colleges. By the end of the group discussion, participants presented a draft of the deliverable as per the topic under discussion. More so, group discussions were an excellent approach to test participant’s teamwork skills and ability to compromise, as well as respecting team decisions. It was an opportunity to see how librarians will work with the library committees. Group discussions further initiated and cemented the much-needed librarian–academic staff – college management relationship. During the group discussion, librarians, teaching staff, ICT staff and college management staff, specifically the Principals and Deputy Principals interacted freely thus starting and cultivating a new era of work relationship between them. Individual presentation: prior to the workshop, participants were sent instructions to prepare a presentation on a topic. For example, participants were asked to provide their views of what a “user-friendly library” would look like or what would constitute a “user-friendly library”; the college library of HTC-Mulago was asked to talk about their experience working with book reserves, challenges faced and plans they have to address the challenges, while the college librarian from NTC-Kaliro was asked to describe a situation where they were able to assist a patron, the limitations they faced and how they addressed them. Doing so did not only assist to emotionally prepare the participants for the training but also helped to make them start thinking about the training in relation to their libraries and work. Take-home assignment: at the end of each session, participants were given home assignments to not only revise the training material but also prepare for the next day training. Further the take-home assignments provided time for the participants to discuss with their colleagues outside of the training room so as to have a common ground/ understanding on some of the very sensitive issues. Most interesting assignment was when participants were asked to review an article and to make a presentation in relation to their library experiences. Participant reports: participant reports resulted from the take-home assignments and participants were asked to make submission on a given topic. For example, participants were asked to review IFLA section on library management and write a two-page report on how such information provided supported their own work, as well as a participant report came from their own observation after a library visit. Invited talks with library expert: two invited talks by library experts from Consortium of Uganda University Libraries and Uganda Library and Information Science Association with the goal to share their experience, motivate the participants to strive higher and achieve great things for their libraries. Library visitation: there were two library visits conducted on three separate days – International Hospital Kampala (IHK) Library, Makerere University Library and Aga Khan University Hospital Library. Each of these library visits provided unique opportunities for the participants to explore best practices and implement similar practices in their libraries. Visual aids – videos, building plans and still photos: these were visual learning aids to supplement text during the lectures because they carried lot of information while initiating different thoughts best on the participants’ past experience and expertise. The training advocated for the use of ATL methodologies and likewise similar methodologies were used to encourage participants do so in their classrooms. Findings Addressing Key Concerns: Several measures, both long and short term, were taken to address the gaps limiting the performance of the librarians. The measures taken included: selected representative sample of participants including all college stakeholders as discussed above; active teaching and learning methodologies applied in the training and blended in the content of the training materials; initiated and formulated approaches to collaborations, networks and partnerships; visited different libraries to benchmark library practices and encourage future job shadowing opportunities; and encouraged participants to relate freely, understand and value each other’s work to change their mindsets. College librarians were encouraged to ensure library priorities remain on the agenda through advocacy campaigns. Short-term measures: The UFL training was designed as a practical and hands-on training blended with individual and group tasks, discussions, take-home assignments and presentations by participants. This allowed participates to engage with the material and take responsibility for their own work. Further, the training material was prepared with a view that librarians support the academic life of teaching staff and students. Participants were tasked to develop and later fine-tune materials designed to support their work. For example, developing a subject bibliography and posting it on the library website designed using open source tools such as Google website, Wikis, blogs. The developed library manual includes user-friendly policies and procedures referred to as “dos and don’ts in the library” that promote equitable open access to information; drafting book selection memos; new book arrivals lists; subscribing to open access journals; current awareness services and selective dissemination of information service displays and electronic bulletins. Based on their library needs and semester calendar, participants developed action points and timelines to implement tasks in their libraries at the end of each unit training. Librarians were encouraged to share their experiences through library websites, Facebook page, group e-mail/listserv and Instagram; however, they were challenged with intimate internet access. College libraries were rewarded for their extraordinary job. Given their pivotal role in the management and administration of financial and material resources, on top of librarians, the participants in this training were college administrators/ management, teaching and ICT staff, researchers and student leadership. Participants were selected to address the current and future needs of the college library. These are individuals that are perceived to have a great impact towards furthering the college library agenda. The practical nature of this training warranted conducting the workshops from developed but similar library spaces, for example, Aga Khan University Library and Kampala Capital City, Makerere University Library, International Hospital Kampala Library and Uganda Christian University Library. Participants observed orientation sessions, reference desk management and interviews, collection management practices, preservation and conservation, secretarial bureau management, etc. Long-term measures: Changing the mindset of librarians, college administrators and teaching staff is a long-term commitment which continues to demand for innovative interventions. For example: job shadowing allowed college librarian short-term attachments to Makerere University Library, Uganda Christian University Library, Aga Khan Hospital University Library and International Hospital Kampala Library – these libraries were selected because of their comparable practices and size. The mentorship programme lasted between two-three weeks; on-spot supervision and follow-up visits to assess progress with the action plan by the librarians and college administration and college library committee; ensuring that all library documents – library strategic plan, library manual, library organogram, etc are approved by the College Governing Council and are part of the college wide governing documents; and establishing the library committee with a job description for each member – this has strengthened the library most especially as an advocacy tool, planning and budgeting mechanism, awareness channel for library practices, while bringing the library to the agenda – reemphasizing the library’s agenda. To bridge the widened gap between librarians and the rest of the stakeholders, i.e. teaching staff, ICT staff, college administration and students, a college library committee structure and its mandate were established comprising: Library Committee Chairperson – member of the teaching staff; Library Committee Secretary – College Librarian; Student Representative – must be a member of the student Guild with library work experience; and Representative from each college academic department. A library consortium was formed involving all the four project supported colleges to participate in resource sharing practices, shared work practices like shared cataloguing, information literacy training, reference interview and referral services as well a platform for sharing experiences. A library consortium further demanded for automating library functions to facilitate collaboration and shared work. Plans are in place to install Koha integrated library system that will cultivate a strong working relationship between librarians and students, academic staff, college administration and IT managers. This was achieved by ensuring that librarians innovatively implement library practices and skills acquired from the workshop as well as show their relevance to the academic life of the academic staff. Cultivating relationships takes a great deal of time, thus college librarians were coached on: creating inclusive library committees, timely response to user needs, design library programmes that address user needs, keeping with changing technology to suite changing user needs, seeking customer feedback and collecting user statistics to support their requests, strengthening the library’s financial based by starting a secretarial bureau and conducting user surveys to understand users’ information-seeking behaviour. To improve the awareness of new developments in the library world, college librarians were introduced to library networks at national, regional and international levels, as a result they participated in conferences, workshops, seminars at local, regional and international level. For example, for the first time and with funding from Belgium Technical Cooperation, college librarians attended 81st IFLA World Library and Information Congress in South African in 2015. College libraries are now members of the Consortium of Uganda University Libraries and Uganda Library and Information Science Association and have attended meetings of these two very important library organisations in Uganda’s LIS profession. The college librarians have attended meetings and workshops organized by these two organisations. Originality/value At the end of the three units training, participants were able to develop: a strategic plan for their libraries; an organogram with staffing needs and job description matching staff functions; a Library Committee for each library and with a structure unifying all the four project-support Colleges; a library action plan with due dates including deliverables and responsibilities for implementation; workflow plan and organisation of key sections of the library such as reserved and public spaces; furniture and equipment inventory (assets); a library manual and collection development policy; partnerships with KCCA Library and Consortium of Uganda University Libraries; skills to use Koha ILMS for performing library functions including: cataloguing, circulation, acquisitions, serials management, reporting and statistics; skills in searching library databases and information literacy skills; skills in designing simple and intuitive websites using Google Sites tools; and improved working relationship between the stakeholders was visible. To further the user-friendly libraries principle of putting users in the centre of the library’s operations, support ATL methodologies and activities with emphasis on getting engaged in transforming spaces, services, outreach to users and collections the following initiatives are currently implemented in the colleges: getting approval of all library policy documents by College Governing Council, initiating job shadowing opportunities, conducting on-spot supervision, guide libraries to set up college library committees and their job description, design library websites, develop dissemination sessions for all library policies, incorporate user-friendly language in all library documents, initiate income generation activities for libraries, set terms of reference for library staff and staffing as per college organogram, procurement of library tools like DDC and library of congress subject headings (LCSH), encourage attendance to webinars and space planning for the new libraries.

Abstract (sommario):
The processes of teaching and learning the English language have reached a globalized turn to the extent that educators and learners became highly exposed to teaching materials and classroom strategies to ensure long-life, independent, and self-guided learning. Ultimately, in a language class, learners may confront difficulty in understanding a literary text which can derive from the limited language proficiency, and presiding over lack of linguistic, cultural, and academic competence. In order to affirm this hypothesis and answer the question of the extent to which can self-directed learning be achieved and improved through metacognitive competence in performing a task in literature, this study aims at highlighting the effectiveness of incorporating certain innovative teaching activities and management practices, notably self-cognition and self-reflection on pursuing learners’ metacognition in understanding a literary text. By adopting a quasi-experimental methodological design, this study uses a participant observation with twenty- six subjects at Higher College of Teachers of Laghouat, they are assigned into two groups to measure their level of meta-cognitive competence and self-regulation, and prove their impact on achieving independent learning in studying a literary text. Results assured learners’ enthusiasm, high competence, and positive responses upon compiling metacognition and self-reflection which are not only learning strategies, but also learning paradigms for increasing learners’ self-directed learning and performance in class. Further studies may include engaging in improving independent learning and self-regulation of post-graduated learners through compensation and memory-related strategies.

Abstract (sommario):
With the development of modern society, people are increasingly pursuing quality of life and paying more attention to mental health education. Mental health education in colleges and universities should also conform to the development of the times, constantly reform the education mode, and help college students establish a healthy psychological environment, so as to better promote the growth of college students. From the perspective of positive psychology, a new idea of mental health education for college students has gradually emerged, that is, from the traditional negative intervention on college students’ psychological problems to positive mental health education. Strengthening the mental health education of college students is an important measure to fully implement the Party’s educational policy and implement quality education under the new situation, an important way and means to promote the all-round development of college students, and an important part of moral education in colleges and universities. College students’ mental health education should be guided by the theory of positive psychology, start with family, society, school, and other aspects to build a brand-new mental health education guarantee system, and finally achieve the purpose of improving college students’ psychological quality.

Abstract (sommario):
Robert Hooke's intellectual life was steadfastly dedicated to the pursuit of natural philosophy and the formulation of an appropriate method for studying nature, His daily life, however, was seemingly fragmented—an energetic rush in and around the city of London, with him acting now as curator (and later secretary) of the Royal Society, now as Cutlerian Lecturer in the History of Nature and Art, now as Geometry Professor at Gresham College, now as architect and surveyor of postfire London, and forever as a member of a number of intersecting social, intellectual, and professional circles that made up London's coffeehouse culture. Such a range of activities was perhaps wider than that of many of his contemporaries, though other diarists, most notably Samuel Pepys, recorded similarly crammed lives. Yet despite the apparently unsystematic nature of his daily round he was, also like Pepys, a methodical man who hated to waste time, and for long periods he kept a diary that helped him account for how he spent it.I argue here that his diary keeping was an integral part of his scientific vision reflecting the epistemological and methodological practices that guided him as a student of nature. The diary should be read, I propose, not as an “after-hours” incidental activity removed from his professional and intellectual life; both its form and its content suggest that he chose to record a self that was as subject to scientific scrutiny as the rest of nature and that he thought that such a record could be applied to producing, in the end, a fully objective “history” with himself as the datum.

Abstract (sommario):
Local communities can challenge the successful development of onshore oil and gas operations; for this reason, it is important to develop meaningful relationships with communities, where possible. As oil and gas companies establish more onshore operations it is necessary to find ways to build and sustain effective community relations. Rio Tinto-Alcan (RTA) Weipa and Energy Resources Australia (ERA) are two significant resources operations in Australia that operate in sensitive remote environments. Positive, enduring and collaborative community relations are essential for the success of both operations. A partnership between each company and the schools within their respective local operating environment has created positive student outcomes and increased workforce stability, resulting in overall success for education and industry in the region. This paper describes the long-term community partnership strategy that has been implemented to achieve mutually beneficial arrangements. It identifies how this experience can be used as a model to guide the oil and gas industry to establish sustained community relationships with its onshore operations, including CSG activities, in the future. RTA and ERA have worked with Nous to create partnerships between the operations and their respective local schools. RTA and Western Cape College have partnered since 2005, and ERA has partnered with West Arnhem College since 2009. The starting point was identification of the school education and workforce needs of each partner, then aligning them through a partnership based around achieving mutual goals. Nous found RTA and ERA’s needs were to: attract and retain staff;recruit local staff;improve Indigenous education and employment; and, support communities for a bright future and healthy young people. The schools needed to ensure: graduates have life choices and the capability to make decisions themselves;post-school pathways exist for students;students have diversified learning opportunities (both in the classroom and on the job); and, strong Indigenous communities are maintained, supported by leaders and young people. Quality local school education is important to achieve these goals. The partnerships have established a broad program of activities to encourage young people to complete their schooling and forge pathways post-school. The development and maintenance of collaborative arrangements requires planning, action, leadership, coordination, and sustained commitment to achieve successful outcomes. This paper describes the approach, program initiatives and outcomes achieved, and how the approach can be adapted for onshore oil and gas operations.

Abstract (sommario):
In recent years, China has comprehensively carried out and implemented the “national fitness campaign.” Sports have been integrated into everyone’s daily life. As a place for cultivating talents, colleges and universities have also begun to reform the physical education teaching mode and cultivate a number of talents with strong competition ability, teaching ability, and adaptability to the society. With the deepening of the reform of physical education teaching mode in colleges and universities, some colleges and universities have introduced the theory of multiple intelligences. By analyzing the concept and content of the theory of multiple intelligences and comparing it with the traditional physical education teaching mode, it fully reflects the advantages of the theory of multiple intelligences in physical education teaching. This paper uses fuzzy mathematics and fuzzy set algorithm to build a teaching model based on the theory of multiple intelligences. Moreover, we study the innovative methods of college physical education teaching, take college physical basketball teaching as the research object, and analyze the students’ sports technology, students’ teaching practice ability, and students’ thinking ability based on the theory of multiple intelligences. Experimental outcomes show that the teaching method guided by the theory of multiple intelligences was designed for the intelligent characteristics of the students in the experimental group, and the teachers and students communicated with each other during the teaching period, which significantly improved the students’ thinking ability.

Abstract (sommario):
The journey towards higher education is a pivotal chapter in a student's life, often marked by uncertainty and high stakes. In the context of engineering admissions in Maharashtra, where over 400 colleges are governed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), the process can be labyrinthine. The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) involving multiple rounds further amplifies the complexity, leaving students perplexed about selecting the ideal college for their academic aspirations. The College Admission Prediction System is an innovative web application designed to address these challenges and bring clarity to the admission process. Leveraging the power of machine learning, the system employs the Adaboost algorithm and data analysis techniques to empower students with accurate and data-driven insights. By considering factors like rank, state domicile, category, preferred branches, preferred districts, and preferred colleges, the system generates a preference list based on a thorough analysis of three years' historical cutoff data. This prediction model is a valuable tool, enabling students to make well-informed decisions prior to seat allotment in both the first and second CAP rounds. The project is driven by a vision to alleviate the stress and insecurity associated with college admissions. By offering students transparent and reliable predictions, it transforms the admission process into a more navigable and data-guided journey. The College Admission Prediction System not only benefits students by aiding in college selection but also supports educational institutions in optimising seat allocation. This project signifies a significant step towards data-driven decision- making in the education sector and promises to enhance the overall experience of students pursuing engineering education in Maharashtra. Keywords: Admission, prediction model, adaboost algorithm, data analysis.

Abstract (sommario):
Oral English competence is crucial for the learners’ life and potential professional success. Numerous studies on communicative language teaching were conducted; however, there is a dearth of literature on the application of CLT strategies in Chinese vocational colleges. The objective of this study was to identify CLT techniques that can improve the oral English skills of vocational college students in China. Specifically, it sought to answer the following: (1) What CLT strategies can be adapted for improving the oral proficiency of Chinese vocational college students? (2) What activities can be designed integrating adapted CLT strategies to help enhance Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency? The study made use of a developmental research design using systematic document analysis as the method. Findings showed that group-oriented CLT strategies like role-play, pair and group work, interviews, information gap activities, etc., and individual-oriented CLT tactics like storytelling, picture description, and opinion-sharing activities can be adapted to improve Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency. To help enhance Chinese vocational college students’ oral proficiency, communicative language activities that integrate these identified CLT strategies were designed as instructors’ guide in implementing CLT. Teachers are the primary change agents in educational practice, only by being more aware of what is truly going on in their classrooms can they assist students to achieve their learning goals. In the hands of a well-balanced instructor, CLT can breathe new life and enthusiasm into the classroom and truly make a difference in enhancing student’s oral proficiency.
