Abstract (sommario):
Forming a portfolio of projects is a key task of managing an organization. Analysis of the life cycle of the project portfolio shows that the phase of project portfolio selection is the most important. Until now, the problems of this phase have not found an optimal solution. Therefore, the authors propose a methodology for the step-by-step design of a portfolio of investment projects. The first stage is the formation of a portfolio of projects based on mathematical programming and modeling methods. The second stage is the evaluation of the effectiveness of the selected projects by the method of analysis of hierar-chies. The third stage is the distribution of investors' funds between the projects of the project portfolio on the basis of playing with nature. The evaluation of the effectiveness of three projects was carried out using the method of hierarchy analysis. The criteria are indicators of efficiency: indicator of scientific and technical efficiency, economic indica-tor, social indicator and indicator of ensuring information security. Each criterion has 4 subcriteria. The results of the calculation determined the following efficiency of the pro-jects: the first (44.36%), the second (22.95%) and the third (32.70%). Therefore, it is nec-essary to distribute resources between projects in such proportions. It has been proven that the design of a portfolio of investment projects is a complex process, and it must be carried out in stages, using modern mathematical decision-making methods and tech-nologies for each of them.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of the study: to develop recommendations for the comprehensive improvement of the practice of concluding and implementing a PPP agreement. Research methods: analysis, synthesis, logical modeling. In the article the authors substantiate the analysis of the characteristic features of PPP agreements and identified four stages of this process: The first step. The process of initiation (start) of the project; Second step. The processes of execution (implementation) of the project; Third step. Monitoring processes (monitoring) of the project; Fourth step. The process of closing (completion) of the project. There are at least two participants in this process: a "public" partner (state) and a "private partner " - a business with different legal status and resources, as well as having different goals. Each of the four selected stages presents "inputs" (initial action) and "outputs" (final action) separately for each of the participants. In the paper the authors reveal the content of each stage of the process and give step-by-step recommendations to improve efficiency. From the point of view of the authors, consistent implementation of the recommendations presented in the practice of PPP will allow you to get away from the formalism and, in general, to increase the percentage of effective PPP projects.

Abstract (sommario):
Thesis (MScEng (Civil Engineering))--University of Stellenbosch, 2008.
Thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch.
ENGLISH ABSTRACT: The logical scheduling of activities in an engineering project currently relies heavily on the experience and intuition of the persons responsible for the schedule. In large projects the complexity of the schedule far exceeds the capacity of human intuition, and systematic techniques are required to compute a consistent sequence of activities. In this study a simple model of the engineering process is described. Based on certain specified relationships between components of the model, a consistent sequence of activities is determined in the form of a logical step schedule. The problem of resource constraints receives special attention. Engineering projects are often executed with limited resources and determining the impact of such restrictions on the logical step schedule is important. This study investigates activityshifting strategies to find a near-optimal sequence of activities that guarantees consistent evolution of deliverables while resolving resource conflicts within the context of logical step schedules.

Abstract (sommario):
The World Wide Web contains a vast amount of information. This feature makes it a very useful part of our everyday activities but the information contained within is made up of an exponentially increasing repository of semantically unstructured data. The semantic web movement involves the evolution of the existing World Wide web in order to enable computers make meaning of and understand the data they process and consequently increase their processing capabilities. Over the past decade a number of new projects implementing the semantic web technology have been developed albeit still in their infancy. These projects are based on semantic data models and one such is the Wikidata project. The Wikidata project is targeted at providing a more semantic platform for editing and sharing data throughout the Wikipedia and Wikimedia communities. This project studies how the Wikidata project facilitates such a semantic platform for the Wikimedia communities and includes the development of an application utilizing the semantic capabilities of Wikidata. The objective of the project is to develop an application capable of retrieving and presenting statistical data and also be able to make missing or invalid data on Wikidata detectable. The result is an application currently aimed at researchers and students who require a convenient tool for statistical data collection and data mining projects. Usability and performance tests of the application are also conducted with the results presented in the report. Keywords: Semantic web, World Wide Web, Semantic data model, Wikidata, data mining.

Abstract (sommario):
All big and important decisions come through analysis. The main aim of the analysis is to examine or investigate more complicated problems by decomposing them into simpler ones whereas we come to certain conclusions on the basis of a detailed recognition of particularities. This diploma thesis is dedicated to analytic tasks solving techniques in Business Intelligence which would describe and support the whole process of analysis, its needs and premises in real surrounding environment. During the project I cooperated with Clever Decision company and took part in the real project. This company deals with Business Intelligence solutions/applications development and this project is meant to set the method of how to treat the development of the solutions. My work consists in designing a template of BI analysis method which is a part of a complex technique. The aim of this diploma thesis is to introduce my own method of Business Intelligence solution analysis, to introduce its basic components and common work instructions for this method. I reached my aim by analyzing documents and reports provided by Clever Decision company and other methods and suggestions. The main contribution of my diploma thesis is that the method works as a draft for assistance and standardizing the process of Business Intelligence solution analysis in Clever Decision company. This draft can nevertheless work as a basis for creating a wholly new method. My work consists of three parts. The first part, a theoretical one, deals with recapitulation of basic terms and methods I worked with. The second part represents properties, components and general working instructions for this method. It moreover presents main outputs, more precisely documents that are practical attachments to the method itself. The third part introduces the method itself including presentation of outputs/document drafts designed by me.

Abstract (sommario):
Different theories have been applied at the interface of entrepreneurship and family business research to explore the entrepreneurial behaviors of families. The STEP project, in particular, has related entrepreneurship and family business research to investigate and realize the determinants of successful transfers of entrepreneurial spirit across generations. Within this perspective, Transgenerational entrepreneurship refers to sustained family-based entrepreneurship that generates a systematic stream of family-influenced social and economic wealth across many generations. The aim of this research is to have a better comprehension of continuous entrepreneurship in family firms in Tunisia. We followed a mixed methodology : qualitative and quantitative through the data collection from family firms. The results of our work has led to important understandings about interactions of the family and family firm, new insights into survival and demise of firms.Accordingly, we go forward entrepreneurship theory and practice by assessing the fundamentals of business model construction within the family business context, thus expediting stronger theoretical perspectives of transgenerational entrepreneurship

Abstract (sommario):
Studies in recent years have revealed the challenges involved in deploying ERP solutions due to its complexity. Before attempting to implement ERP systems, it is essential to study various aspects such as project management, training, and change management in detail to manage the associated risks. When an ERP project is undertaken with insufficient planning, it may result in failure to integrate business processes and in substantial financial loss. Research has been pursued to identify critical risk/failure factors that may arise during implementation and the measures that should be taken to manage them. However, there is lack of research in identifying the management of critical risk/failure factor using a structured methodology. This raises a question of ‘can a structured methodology identify and manage critical risk/failure factors and support deploying ERP solutions with a better quality?’ A study of Microsoft Sure Step Methodology is performed to identify critical risk/failure factors that frequently occur during ERP implementation. These factors are derived from 8 articles. On determining critical risk/failure factors, we investigated if Sure Step methodology likely contains procedures that approach these factors.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe purpose of the Business Model Template (BMT) is to help you turn your idea into a viable project or organization. To illustrate this, two real-life case studies are offered in this chapter. Firstly, the KipCaravan project, which is a mobile home—a caravan—for chickens. It involves low-scale egg production in several locations. Secondly, the Sun at School NSV2 project in the city of Nijmegen. For both projects you will find a step-by-step description of the different routes followed. As you will see, the interpretation of the building blocks is different for every project and there is no best order in which to stack the building blocks. Bear in mind that both projects are still up and running successfully at the time of writing. These examples are shown in simplified versions and with the benefit of hindsight, of course. Perhaps the essence of doing business is having the courage to start without a ready-made recipe.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Project professionals place great value in accurately predicting project outcomes. Itis therefore unsurprising that there has been a rapid acceptance of a new suite of tools promising to forecastproject outcomes better than ever before. Within a few years the use of project data analytics has become widespread throughout project delivery organisations; they have become the norm. Most closely associated with dashboards, project data analytics is transforming projects’ ability to see problems sooner and act quicker. Project data analytics however has not yet been ‘professionalised’. No single organisation has yet solved how to holistically get the very best out of analytics to deliver more predictable projects, but many are trying across multiple industries. Some organisations have great solutions and ideas, but itis not yet encoded in how the profession delivers. Petrofac as part of the Project Data Analytics Task Force [1&2], a cross industry working group, have collaborated with the Association of Project Management (APM) [3] to publish a ground-breaking guide[4] designed to help project delivery organisations get started in project data analytics. In addition, a five step framework*is offered which is designed for project delivery organisations who are further long their journey with analytics. This framework recommends the steps organisations can take to improve their project predictability from basic systems, through to dashboards and onto machine learning and artificial intelligence. It also references the capabilities organisations need to consider forthe benefits to become embedded. The paper explores how superior project performance is best achieved when project data analytics is blended with the insights and actions our people bring to delivering projects; to improve resultsthis blend of data and people is noted as being essential. The paper highlights this as the most significant factor as to why data analytics programmesmay not bring the value organisations expect and why step 4 (automated performance) of the model is seen as the pivot to success. On realisation of step 5 (intelligent performance), an organisation would be expected to have embraced the market leading approaches to maximising project performance and be well placed to achieve market leading returns on investment and margin. The paper advocates that organisations should: Adopt a 3-click rule to project informationSend the right action, to the right person, at the right timeBlend human and data insights by quantifying perceptions and makinginsights actionableAutomate Project Data Analytics into the working rhythm of project delivery This paper is deliberately aimed at the project professional and not the data science community. It simplifiesthe typical technical jargon around analytics and provides a wide variety of examples, tips and graphics that the project professional can easily relate to.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This paper addresses the data modeling aspect of an ongoing research project which is aimed at developing an integrated product data-sharing environment (IPDE) based on the international standard STEP. The data model involves multiple design and analysis applications including: Product Design, Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and feature based manufacturability evaluation. The model makes use of multiple STEP Application Protocols (AP203, 209, 214, 224) and integrated resources from different parts of STEP. Extensions beyond STEP were necessary for CFD analysis, parametric geometry and constraints. The latter were imported from the ENGEN* Data Model and a new STEP-compliant model was created for CFD. The consolidated data model used for a prototype is presented in this paper.

Abstract (sommario):
This brief demonstrates the importance of measuring the benefits of Viet Nam’s 144-megawatt Lotus Wind Power Project and defining its economic and social impacts as the country ramps up its renewable energy generation. The brief shows how the ADB-financed project contributed nearly $90 million to Viet Nam’s gross domestic product during construction, and is forecast to generate almost $14 million of annual earnings in the next 20 years. It explains how modeling the impact of renewable projects can guide policy decisions and underscore the need to create a conducive environment for green energy investment as countries step up their transition towards net zero. .

Abstract (sommario):
This report evaluates the third exercise of the Expanded Project Supervision Reports (XPSRs), prepared by the Structured and Corporate Finance Department (SCF). The exercise represents a step toward full compliance with the Evaluation Cooperation Group's (ECG) guidelines, which require the validation of the XPSRs the same year they reached Early Operational Maturity (EOM). Based on the agreed schedule between OVE and SCF, this goal should be achieved by the end of 2011. This exercise implies the preparation of 13 XPSRs for all projects that reached EOM in 2008 and 2009. According to this agreed schedule, two additional exercises will be conducted by the end of 2011, one for projects that reached EOM in 2010 and another for projects that will reach EOM in 2011.This report presents the main findings and conclusions from the evaluation exercise. Some specific financial, business or proprietary information has been edited, in compliance with the Bank's Access to Information Policy.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose/Background Overdose deaths in the U.S. from opioids have dramatically increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. Although medicated-assisted treatment (MAT) programs are widely available for sufferers of opiate addiction, many drop out of treatment prematurely. Twelve-step programs are considered a valuable part of treatment, but few studies have examined the effect of combining these approaches. We aimed to compare abstinence rates among patients receiving MAT who were referred to 12-step programs to those only receiving MAT. Methods In this prospective study, a cohort of participants from a MAT clinic agreeing to attend a 12-step program was compared to 15 controls selected from a database before project implementation. Eligible participants were diagnosed with OUD, receiving buprenorphine (opiate agonist), and at least 18. Participants were provided with temporary sponsors to attend Narcotics Anonymous, Alcoholics Anonymous, and Medication-Assisted Recovery meetings together. The primary endpoint was the change in positive opiate urine drug screens over 6 months between participants and controls. Results Between March 29, 2021, and April 16, 2021, 166 patients were scheduled at the clinic. Of those scheduled, 146 were established patients, and 123 were scheduled for face-to-face visits. Of these, 64 appeared for the appointment, 6 were screened, and 3 were enrolled. None of the participants attended a 12-step meeting. Enrollment barriers included excluding new patients and those attending virtual visits, the high percentage of patients who missed appointments, and lack of staff referrals. The low incidence of referrals was due to time constraints by both staff and patients. Implications for Nursing Practice Low enrollment limited our ability to determine whether combining medication management with a 12-step program improves abstinence. Failure to keep appointments is common among patients with OUD, and virtual meetings are becoming more prevalent post-COVID. Although these factors are unlikely to be controllable, developing strategies to expedite the enrollment process for staff and patients could hasten recruitment.

Abstract (sommario):
This final report summarizes the outcomes of the Smart Altitude project. The Smart Altitude project ran from June 2018 to April 2021 and was carried out by ten partners from six different countries in the Alpine Space (Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Slovenia, and Switzerland). The project was co-financed by the European Union via Interreg Alpine Space. The aim of the project was to enable and accelerate the implementation of low-carbon policies in winter tourism regions by demonstrating the efficiency of a step-by-step decision support tool for energy transition in four Living Labs. The project targeted policymakers, ski resort operators, investors, tourism, and entrepreneurship organizations. The Smart Altitude approach was designed to ensure suitability across the Alpine Space, thereby fostering its replication and uptake in other winter tourism regions and thus increasing the resilience of mountain areas.

Abstract (sommario):
This report takes the first step in building a clear picture of the ways that critical project decisions are made in practice. The intention is to suggest ways to enhance practitioner understanding of how decision-making effectiveness can be improved through simple techniques that can be embedded into daily practices. The study asks: what are the factors that influence decision-making in practice and how can project professionals ensure that critical project decisions are as effective as they can be. The research results from several data collection methods that sought to understand how decisions are made in practice from the perspective of project professionals these include: a survey of 430 responses that captured decision-making styles and perceptions of UK project professionals, 30 semi-structured interviews to further understand the experiences of project professionals and three simulation workshops to validate the previous findings and provide in-depth practical insights.

Abstract (sommario):
The 2017 revision of AGA (American Gas Association) Report #8 encourages adoption of the new GERG2008 EOS (Equation of State) technology but leaves users with the decision on whether to upgrade. Due to the technical complexity of the subject and the potential financial impact, users seek additional technical guidance so that they may confidently apply this discretion. This project investigates technical methods for arriving at choices which are technically defendable and financially responsible. To provide guidance and tools for users, the project constructed deterministic and probabilistic models that illustrate potential impact of EOS upgrades, applying real-world gas composition, pressure, temperature and flow. A step-by-step sequence for evaluating upgrade potential was also created. Includes calculation spreadsheets.

Abstract (sommario):
There is a broad consensus that agri-food systems need to be transformed to address the mounting global challenges including food and nutrition security, environmental degradation, and socioeconomic inequities. However, agreement is lacking on what is needed to drive this transformation. This report builds on a sustainability analysis of different proposed pathways and approaches to address transformative needs. It also serves as a study of the drivers and agents that support the implementation of these proposed pathways in different cases around the globe. We recommend the adoption of a multi-level governance framework to coordinate the transformation of agri-food systems, guaranteeing the attainment of transformation goals across all levels. This includes global agreements and international goals at the international level, national transformation pathways at the country level, and the operational level embedded in local governance. This report introduces the Agri-food Systems Transformation Protocol as a decision-support protocol at the desired operational level serving different actors within agri-food systems. The Agri-food Systems Transformation Protocol proposes a four-stage and nine-step iterative process that can guide the development of transformation pathways in different contexts and at different levels of implementation. It was conceived during a workshop of the Expert Advisory Group of the Assessment and Communication of Climate Impacts of Food (CLIF) project in June 2023. The aim was to develop a step-by-step guide to transforming food systems that is not prescriptive and follows a rights-based, place-based, systems approach. The protocol was informed by background research on different case studies from the agri-food sector and advances the three principles of preserving the rights of people, ecosystem integrity, and integrity of the process. The background study identified the main drivers and agents of transformation by analysing 14 case studies from five continents, a selection that was finalized at the expert workshop. A transformation matrix that maps the agents and drivers with different steps of transformation process is also presented to aid the implementation of the protocol. This protocol is intended to be the first step in developing a transformative theory of change for agri-food systems, with the methodologies for each step being the subject of further development.
