Benigni's zaniness and self-mockery seemed to embody everything that has convinced foreigners that Italians are, above all, brava gente (nice people). Sometimes, this conclusion can have a supercilious air – niceness can easily be reduced to levity or fecklessness. In those university courses that seek to comprehend the terrible tragedies of twentieth-century Europe, Italians seldom play a leading role. German, Russian, Polish, Yugoslav, and even British and French history are each riven with death and disaster or, alternatively, with heroism and achievement. In such austere company, brava gente can seem out of place.

Abstract (sommario):

A tanulmány azt vizsgálja, hogy a fasizmus ideológiája, amely a huszadik század első felében hosszú ideig (1922–1943) meghatározta Olaszország politikai berendezkedését, az utóbbi évtizedekben és napjainkban hogyan él tovább. A neofasiszta mozgalmak már az I. Olasz Köztársaság kikiáltását (1946) követően, a Movimento Sociale Italiano (MSI) megalapításával megjelentek. Az MSI-nek több utódpártja is alakult az 1990-es években, amelyek közül a legjelentősebb a Gianfranco Fini által alapított Alleanza Nazionale (1995), amely 2009-ben egyesült a Silvio Berlusconi által vezetett Forza Italiával (Popolo della Libertà). Ennek feloszlása során a kilépő tagok megalapították a napjainkban is aktív Fratelli d’Italia – Alleanza Nazionale elnevezésű pártot, amelynek elnöke Giorgia Meloni. A tanulmány röviden bemutatja az említett pártok főbb elveit, majd azt a kérdést állítja középpontjába, hogy vajon a Fratelli d’Italia programját tekintve mennyiben tekinthető neofasiszta pártnak?

Publicada em 1936, pela Companhia Editora Nacional, Dom Quixote das Crianças teve uma primeira edição com 10.625 exemplares, número bastante expressivo para a época em que a obra foi publicada. Em 1940, quando sai a publicação da segunda edição, esse número cai para 5025 exemplares, mas ainda significativo para o Brasil de leitores daquele momento. As ilustrações de Gustave Doré, presentes na tradução portuguesa do século XIX, feita pelos viscondes de Castilho e de Azevedo, foram mantidas por Lobato na primeira edição de seu texto, apesar de, mais tarde, serem abandonadas, talvez por problemas com direitos autorais. Em 1947, na edição das obras completas, o ilustrador já era André Le Blanc. Este trabalho pretende apresentar algumas discussões sobre a constituição da obra Dom Quixote das Crianças e, para isso, se serve de teóricos como Amaya Prado (2008), Whitaker Penteado (1997), Silvia Cobelo (2010), Magno Silveira (2015), dentre outros.

Abstract (sommario):

Il saggio riguarda la crisi delle forze democratiche in Italia tra il 1924 e il 1925, nel momento in cui si stava instaurando la dittatura fascista. Il tema viene affrontato a partire dalle esperienze di due esponenti democratici - Silvio Trentin e Ivanoe Bonomi - e attraverso il loro rapporto testimoniato dalle lettere inedite che il primo scrisse al secondo, pubblicate in appendice. Se nel febbraio 1924 Trentin sembra gravitare nell'orbita di Bonomi con il quale ha una'affinitŕ ideologica, dopo 12 mesi - segnati dall'assassinio di Matteotti e dall'Aventino - č diventato un convinto sostenitore di Giovanni Amendola, di cui, diversamente da Bonomi, abbraccia tra l'altro il progetto di unire tutte le forze democratiche, trasformandone la federazione (Unione nazionale) in un vero e proprio partito. Dall'analisi delle lettere di Trentin si evince uno spettro significativo delle vie praticate da esponenti democratici di diverso orientamento per fronteggiare lo sconvolgimento politico rappresentato dall'affermarsi del fascismo.

El siguiente es un análisis historiográfico de los ensayos escritos por Silvio Zavala, cuyo principal propósito fue hacer un recuento de la historia general de México desde el periodo prehispánico hasta el siglo xx. Estos ensayos constituyeron, en suma, una carta de presentación del país ante organismos internacionales. Resumo Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar as estratégias discursivas que buscam legitimar uma interpretação autoritária do direito tanto nos regimes que lhe dão suporte como nos períodos de restabelecimento da democracia formal. Utiliza como fonte de pesquisa os pareceres produzidos entre as décadas de 1930 e 1950 por um dos juristas mais atuantes de nossos regimes de exceção: Carlos Medeiros Silva (1907-1983). O artigo está dividido em duas partes. Na primeira, analisa os pareceres produzidos durante o Estado Novo. Na segunda, os seus posicionamentos após a redemocratização do país em 1946. Argumenta-se que a intepretação autoritária do direito produzida durante a ditadura do Estado Novo resiste após a queda de Getúlio Vargas, confrontando, por meio de estratégias argumentativas, as determinações da Constituição de 1946.

Abstract (sommario):

This conference, organized by Arnd Bauerkämper, Grzegorz Rossoliński-Liebe, Anna Lena Kocks and Silvia Madotto, and supported by the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung für Wissenschaftsförderung and Freie Universität Berlin, offered important insights into various aspects of the study of transnational fascism and diverse forms of connections and co-operation between fascist movements and regimes in Europe between 1918 and 1945. It fostered the concept of fascism as a border-crossing phenomenon albeit with strong national and local roots. The conference made clear that even without an institutionalized ‘Fascist international,’ fascism was a transnational phenomenon, which affected national societies and non-national groups. By widening the perspective on different forms of European fascism, the participants of the conference managed to highlight connections, interactions and entanglements not considered by the previous historical research. The conference demonstrated how this methodological approach proves useful for a more comprehensive understanding of the complex phenomenon of fascism and the numerous interactions between fascist activists, groups, parties, movements and regimes.

Abstract (sommario):

La Revista de Historia de América comenzó a publicarse en 1938, gracias a la iniciativa y el tesón del historiador mexicano Silvio Zavala, y al apoyo del Instituto Panamericano de Geografía e Historia. Este artículo es parte de un proyecto mayor de investigación que analiza los diez primeros años de la revista. Pretende ser un aporte a los estudios de las revistas culturales desde una perspectiva metodológica que abra nuevas formas de entender este objeto de estudio. Su principal aportación radica en exponer la manera como se analizó una publicación y las redes intelectuales que la hicieron posible mediante la datificación, término con el cual nos referimos a la manera en que se construyó el andamiaje relacional de los datos significativos, para su recombinación e integración posterior.

Resumen La novela feminista Tea Rooms (1934), de la escritora Luisa Carnés,1 denuncia la explotación de la mujer en la familia, el trabajo y la cultura en el Madrid de los años 30. Carnés (1905–1964), una de las escritoras olvidadas y exiliadas de la Generación del 27, retrata con crudeza la violencia contra la mujer trabajadora. Este análisis se apoya en reflexiones de Simone Weil (La condición obrera) y Silvia Federici (El patriarcado del salario) para ilustrar cómo la novela demuestra, mediante una composición y escritura heterogéneas y digresivas, que el progreso bajo el capitalismo es un mito.

O presente trabalho procura destacar, da produção intelectual do sociólogo Alberto Guerreiro Ramos, um conjunto de sete ensaios sobre Literatura Brasileira que foram escritos no início dos anos 1940 e publicados na revista estadonovista Cultura Política. Partindo do pressuposto de vinculação entre o desenvolvimento literário e a identidade nacional, em que a finalidade política da literatura é enfatizada, esses ensaios guardam a linha mestra de um livro que o autor pretendia escrever sobre a formação da literatura nacional, mas que não chegou a realizá-lo. Com o resgate desses ensaios pretende-se: (1) inserir Guerreiro Ramos na vertente sociológica da literatura brasileira, cujo maior expoente e inaugurador foi Silvio Romero; (2) vislumbrá-lo no contexto do projeto nacionalista preconizado pelo Estado Novo; e, mais importante, (3) alcançar a noção de redução sociológica em seu estado nascente no pensamento do autor.

O artigo se propõe perscrutar manuscritos inéditos do poeta e intelectual paraibano Silvino Olavo da Costa (1897-1969) escritos durante a segunda metade do século XX e que se encontram sob a responsabilidade do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas “História, Sociedade e Educação no Brasil” (HISTEBR-GT/PB) e, ao mesmo tempo, analisá-los mediante outros escritos biográficos já publicados sobre tal personagem histórico. Para tanto, fez-se uso do método biográfico enquanto uma perspectiva metodológica no campo da História da Educação a fim de se entender a trajetória, inserção e contribuição nos espaços intelectuais de sua época enquanto um revelador do tempo histórico vivido/narrado por ele em seus poemas, pensamentos e anotações diversas. Como um dos maiores representantes do simbolismo paraibano, Silvino Olavo da Costa publicou grandes obras de cunho jurídico e literário, entre elas, “Cisnes” (1924); “Socialização e Estética do Direito” (1924); “Esperança – Lírio Verde da Borborema – Discurso” (1925); “Sombra Iluminada” (1927); “Cordialidade – Estudo Literário – 1ª Série” (1927); e “Badiva”, obra publicada postumamente (1997). A partir das fontes históricas consultadas, compreendeu-se aqui o papel do intelectual paraibano Silvino Olavo da Costa como produtor, difusor e intérprete das ideias de seu tempo, seja na condição de poeta e colaborador nos jornais, seja na condição de gestor público, ou como expoente do direito, na travessia de ideias que marcaram o fim do Império e a ascensão da República no Brasil, sob o auspício dos ideais políticos liberais.

La muerte de la Quimera. Tragicomedia en dos actos, para marionetas es una breve pieza dramática de Emilia Pardo Bazán que —como damos noticia por vez primera en este artículo— nació para ser representada en un teatro de marionetas proyectado por el escritor modernista Antonio de Hoyos y Vinent en 1903. Sin embargo, la suspensión del proyecto escénico por razones que desconocemos y la decisión de Emilia Pardo Bazán de situar La muerte de la Quimera al frente de su novela de 1905 La Quimera, parecen haber llevado a la crítica a estudiar este texto como un mero proemio a la narración protagonizada por Silvio Lago. El siguiente estudio, sin embargo, propone recatalogar la breve tragicomedia dentro del teatro de ensueño modernista y del teatro para títeres, espectáculos llamados a renovar el anquilosado panorama teatral de entre siglos en el que se sitúa toda la obra dramática de la escritora.

Abstract (sommario):

El objetivo principal de este artículo es sistematizar –desde la perspectiva de un estudio de recepción- el surgimiento de una corriente actual poslacaniana del psicoanálisis argentino, sostenida en la construcción de un modelo teórico-clínico que se despliega en la obra de la psicoanalista Silvia Bleichmar (1944-2007). El de Bleichmar constituye un caso ejemplar de un conjunto de intelectuales que accedieron al psicoanálisis francés en Argentina por una vía alternativa a la establecida por Oscar Masotta: la denominada “vía Althusser”, inspirada en la lectura que dicho filósofo realizara de la obra de varios referentes del pensamiento francés en la década del 70’. Por otra parte, se trata de un modelo teórico-clínico que estudia y a la vez distingue tanto la producción de subjetividad como la constitución, organización y funcionamiento del psiquismo, lo cual permite luego la investigación de los puntos de contacto entre ambas dimensiones. Esta capacidad de cruzar dichas dimensiones puede renovar la potencia del psicoanálisis salvaguardando su fecundidad y alcance explicativo a lo largo del tiempo, en la medida en que provee de las herramientas necesarias para revisar en cada época las pregnancias ideológicas que puedan parasitar la red conceptual al plegarse a premisas derivadas de la producción de subjetividad de cada tiempo histórico-social.

The study traces the historical elements that have influenced the development of political-critical thinking in Colombian Psychology. Four historical periods have been identified and discussed: The intellectual colonialism of Colombian Psychology (1947-1960); the social Psychiatry in the years of La comisión [The commission] (1961-1980); the community Psychology and the coexistence (1980-1991); and the psychosocial studies after recent peace processes between government and armed groups (1991-2018). Colombian political Psychology did not follow a homogeneous and linear development. The reality experienced by Colombians during more than five decades of armed conflict required Psychology to abandon the direct paths of politics and opt for psychosocial studies that promise to be the most radical heirs of a generation of Latin American critical thinking as represented by Ignacio Martín-Baró, Maritza Montero and Silvia Lane.

Abstract (sommario):

Forest trees are used for multiple purposes, including various products, fruits, timber, resins, windbreaks, shelter, and gums by farmers worldwide. The study aimed to identify the forest tree types chosen by the agrarians in the lower areas of Punjab, including districts Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Lodhran, Vehari Muzaffargarh, Khanewal, and Bahawalpur. Altogether, 124 of the respondents were interviewed according to the prescribed questionnaire. The results showed that the young people (48%) had more experience in agroforestry and were willing to adopt the systems on their lands. The research survey observed that most (55%) of the local communities were using wood as a fuel, due to which there is a dire need for the forest trees on the farmlands to overcome the lack of fuel wood sources and the local communities preferred to plant acacia nilotica species (48.3%) and eucalyptus camaldulensis (14.9%) on their farm for their benefits, including fuel, wood, and fodder. Mangifera indica (19.5%) and citrus sinensis (9.2%) are used as fruit trees in their farmland. These results show that farmers used the agroforestry system i.e. silvo-arable, agro-horticulture silvo-pastural and agrosilvo-pastural to increase revenue, hence the need to improve the agroforestry system in these areas.

Revue de Transylvanie appeared in May 1934 in Cluj, at the initiative of Transylvanian intellectuals and with the financial support of Astra, its pages containing studies of good scientific quality, aiming at disseminating the results of Romanian historical research to the European scientific and public opinion. Our paper intends to outline the context in which the journal appeared, its editorial structure, its main contributors and topics throughout the years, as well as the context in which it ceased its activity. In the Foreword of its first issue, its initiators stated the reasons for starting the journal, as well as the objectives its founders had set for themselves. Silviu Dragomir, the director of the journal, and D.D. Roşca, its first editor-in-chief, intended the Revue de Transylvanie “to be a means of informing its Western readers on Transylvania through various aspects of life in a major province of post-1918 Romania”. The founders of the publication wished for the journal to be “an objective and accurate means of information” on the ethnic issues in Transylvania and particularly on minorities. Revue de Transylvanie also aimed at investigating the relations of minorities in Romania with its majority Romanian population. The journal also appeared as a reaction to the Hungarian external propaganda, which was trying to accredit the idea that, after having become a Romanian province, Transylvania experienced a regress. The journal was not founded immediately after 1918, but in 1934, when it became increasingly obvious that the political changes that had occurred in the states defeated during WWI were threatening Europe’s configuration. Even in this difficult political context, the Romanian State took a long time to get involved in financially supporting the publication. The journal achieved only some of the goals set by its founders, namely informing scientists and decision-makers in the Western states on the political and ethnic realities in Transylvania. This was due to the professionalism of the authors and their published studies on a great variety of topics, namely history, historical demography, cultural history, ethnography, linguistics etc., as well as to the 1200 free copies distributed to specialists in the country and abroad. Regarding the contributors to the issues of the journal, although their number was over 60, only a few of them were permanent contributors, i.e. Silviu Dragomir, with 9 published studies, George Sofronie, with 8 published studies, Laurian Someșan, with 6 published studies, Coriolan Petranu, with 5 studies, Ioachim Crăciun, with 5 published studies, Ioan Lupaș, with 4 studies. The journal was also a true training workshop for younger specialists who made their apprenticeship especially in the Notes and Reviews sections. Worth mentioning among the younger historians are Ioachim Crăciun, Aurel Decei, Ioan Moga, Andrei Oţetea, P.P. Panaitescu, Ştefan Pascu, Aurelian Sacer¬doţeanu, David Prodan, Virgil Vătăşianu. The journal contained good quality studies on a variety of topics, especially contributions on contemporary history, minority issues, international law, historical demography, language history, historical geography etc. Revue de Transylvanie proved to be an interdisciplinary journal in terms of both published studies and articles, and of its contributors’ formation. Disputes and polemics occurred mainly in Notes and Reviews. The political factor in Romania used only to a small extent the pertinent information provided by the specialists, and its editing team set itself difficult objectives, unachievable without political support.

In Silico Clinical Trials (ISCT), i.e. clinical experimental campaigns carried out by means of computer simulations, hold the promise to decrease time and cost for the safety and efficacy assessment of pharmacological treatments, reduce the need for animal and human testing, and enable precision medicine. In this paper we present methods and an algorithm that, by means of extensive computer simulation-based experimental campaigns (ISCT) guided by intelligent search, optimise a pharmacological treatment for an individual patient (precision medicine). We show the effectiveness of our approach on a case study involving a real pharmacological treatment, namely the downregulation phase of a complex clinical protocol for assisted reproduction in humans.

Este artigo reflete sobre práticas adotadas na disciplina de projeto de paisagismo, desenvolvidas no curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior localizada em Rondônia. Com discussões sobre a criação e o entendimento de espaços livres desde as décadas de 1930 e 1940, e com a institucionalização, a partir de 1994, da disciplina de paisagismo e projeto da paisagem nos cursos de Arquitetura e Urbanismo brasileiros abre-se espaço para análise do desenvolvimento e aplicação de algumas práticas metodológicas para o ensino de disciplinas cujo objetivo seja o desenvolvimento de projeto paisagístico. Nesse sentido o trabalho adota as metodologias projetuais desenvolvidas por Silvio Soares Macedo e Roberto Burle Marx, aplicando-as na disciplina de paisagismo, com o objetivo de aproximar os discentes da escala de trabalho na paisagem. Como resultado parcial foi observado que a adoção da modelagem tridimensional física contribuiu para compreensão do projeto paisagístico, e as metodologias mostraram-se eficazes quando complementadas com essa abordagem. De modo geral, é possível concluir que a utilização da modelagem, assim como das metodologias projetuais supracitadas, mostraram-se eficientes como estratégias de ensino para a primeira disciplina de projeto de paisagismo do curso de Arquitetura e Urbanismo.

Abstract (sommario):

The battles for the liberation of Oradia and Bihor from the Hortyst-German occupation involved a number Romanian Army divisions (the 3rd Mountain Brigade and Tudor Vladimirescu Brigade), as well as divisions of the Red Army and were particularly ferocious and long-lasting (5 September - 12 October 1944). Several offensives and counter-offensives of the Hungarian-German and Romanian-Soviet military divisions took place with the purpose of preserving/liberating the city of Oradea, the administrative centre of Bihor County, a critical land and air communications hub for the entire western region (roads, railways, airport). In the battles for Oradea, the region experienced several days of power vacuum, with the fascist troops retreating from the city in order to prepare for a counter-offensive, while the Romanian-Soviet troops were regrouping outside the city for a decisive offensive (25 September - 28 September). At the same time, three citizens of the city, i.e. Andrei Silviu – a Romanian ethnic, a former civil servant with the City Hall and reserve officer of the Romanian Army, who had a local Israeli wife, Nicolae Rajkovič - a Romanian citizen of Serbian origin who was a local barber, and Papp Tibor – a civil servant with the City Hall, a Romanian citizen of Hungarian origin, established a “civil guard” comprising 45 citizens of Oradea with different nationalities, who were armed with rifles from a City Hall warehouse. The role of the guard was to maintain peace in the city and to defend the life and property of the citizens, primarily the workshops and shops in the city against the lumpenproletariat who were prone to looting. The return of fascist occupiers in the city leads to the arrest of the three guard organisers. They are brought in front of a military court and sentenced to death for organising “partisan troops behind the front”. Andrei and Rajkovič are shot in the Oradia Fortress three days before (9 October) the liberation of the city (12 October), while Papp is saved by his family and sentenced to 15 years in prison, due to the fact that he was a Hungarian ethnic. Although historians and patriotic local councillors proposed (in 2007, 2013, 2015, and 2020) that the two murdered locals should be honoured as heroes of the city, the political parties or coalitions that held the majority in the Oradea City Council (the Democratic Party (PD) + the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR), the National Liberal Party (PNL) + the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (UDMR)) kept rejecting the initiative. This year, several cultural and patriotic organisations will bring up the proposal once again, since the idea behind it still makes a valid point.

Abstract Progression from a ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) to an invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) involves changes in the surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM) fibril patterns before and during the development of ductal microinvasions, i.e., small cohorts of tumor cells that breach the duct and migrate through the stroma. We used a combination of mathematical modeling (with the hybrid agent-based model silicoDCIS) and advanced image analysis techniques applied to histological and fluorescent images in order to identify the rules of cell-ECM interactions that guide the emergence of various alignment patterns of the ECM fibrils. This includes the three tumor associated collagen signatures (TACS) previously observed in laboratory experiments. This integrated approach provides an in silico tool for testing biomechanical hypotheses of tumor cell-tumor matrix interactions. These findings can be compared to the patient histology samples and may help to define criteria for identification of DCIS to IDC transition and future development of new diagnostic methods. Radu Ichim, fondatorul stațiunii de cercetare a molidului de la Câmpulung-Moldovenesc. Personalitate marcantă a științei silvice din Bucovina, dr. Radu Ichim a impus, prin forța exemplului, un standard etic și profesional greu de egalat, ce este o continuă provocare pentru noi toți. Autorii acestui editorial trec în revistă atât cărțile de referință publicate de domnul dr. Radu Ichim cât și excepționala carieră profesională a acestuia. Excepțională atât prin amplitudine – practic, domnul dr. Radu Ichim a acoperit toate sectoarele în care un inginer silvic poate funcționa – cât și prin calitatea rezultatelor, cariera domniei sale este strâns legată de silvicultura și cultura Bucovinei, în care s-a format. A absolvit un prestigios liceu „Eudoxiu Hurmuzachi” din Rădăuți, după care a urmat cursurile Facultății de silvicultură din București, pe care a absolvit-o în 1944. In present study, in silico study was performed to predict rat oral acute toxicity, hepatoxicity, immunotoxicity, genotoxicity endpoints as well as ecotoxicity of daphnids and fish of different food colourants and its metabolites. A total 13 types of food colourants and 8 metabolites were selected. The prediction of rat oral acute toxicity (LD50) and genotoxicity endpoints, and ecotoxicity (LC50) were performed by using ProTox-II webserver and ECOSAR tool. It was obtained as 81 and 275 mg/Kg for tartrazine and green S as class 3 and rests were between class 4-6 for food colourants and 626 and 1925 mg/Kg for aminopyrazolone and 5-sulphoanthranilic acid as class 4 and rest were between 5-6 for metabolites. All the food colourants were non-hepatotoxic while four compounds were found immuno-toxic. For metabolites, only aminopyrazolone obtained hepatotoxic, but not immuno-toxic. Allura red was carcinogenic and few were mutagenic, but all were non-cytotoxic. For metabolites, few were carcinogenic but non-mutagenic and non-cytotoxic.
