Testo completoAssessment data was collected at the beginning, mid-point and end of the 2013-14 season. The player was first assessed for body composition via DXA (QDR Series Discovery A, Hologic Inc., Bedford, MA). Secondly, lower body power output was assessed using a pneumatic resistance leg press machine with software and digital display (Keiser Sports Health Equipment Inc., Fresno, Ca). Finally, the player’s upper body strength was assessed via 6 repetition maximum assessments of the dumbell bench press and prone row. The player completed a mean weekly volume of 41±24 sets per week and a mean frequency of 2±1 sessions per week for the initial phase of the study. The player completed a greater mean weekly volume in the later phase of the season compared to the initial training period (65±28 set per week vs. 41±24 sets per week in the initial phase of the season). A greater mean session frequency was also associated with the second training phase (3±1 vs. 2±1 session per week). There was a total decrease in body mass over the initial intervention period of 4kg, of which 2.7kg decrease in fat mass and a further 0.9 kg decrease in lean mass. Over the second phase of the intervention there was a total increase in body mass of 1.2kg, of which 2.4kg increase in lean mass and 1.2kg decrease in fat mass. During the initial phase of training peak power output increased by 25%, whilst power to weight ratio increased by 30%. During the later phase peak power output increased by a further 9% whilst the power to weight ratio increased by a further 10%. Upper body pressing (Dumbell Bench press) and upper body pulling (Dumbell Prone pull) strength was also increased by 14% and 21% respectively during the initial phase and a further 19% and 24% respectively during the later phase of the season.

Testo completoFootball is the most popular sport in the world, and it continues to have a progressive annual increase in the number of active players and the number of games played per season, which in turn, leads to an increase in the frequency of injuries. Football is extensively researched worldwide, however, some current studies confirm that the results on football injury factors are limited, as well as inconsistent and incomplete. The main aim of this study was to examine interrelating factors of football injuries through the various age groups at a designated football club. The study aimed to expose the injury risk factors and patterns present in the various age groups.

Testo completoSeveral studies on European players at the elite or professional level have shown a high risk of injury. However, the studies used different data collection methods, making it difficult to compare results. This suggested a need to standardise the definition of an injury and method of data collection. There are no data on injuries associated with football in South Africa, which makes it difficult to develop an evidence-based strategy to manage injuries associated with football. Therefore, in an attempt to address the deficiency on soccer related injuries in South Africa, a Professional Soccer League (PSL) team (AJAX CT) was monitored throughout the season by the medical support staff of the team using the F-MARC data collection system devised by FIFA. The main objective of this study was to undertake a retrospective epidemiological study documenting the incidence of injury in this team and the exposure time (practice and match) of the players over a full season.

Testo completoThe purpose of this directed project was to develop a nutrition education curriculum for competitive youth soccer players. This project is aimed to improve the nutrition knowledge deficit among female adolescents, thereby improving general health and athletic performance. This curriculum also considers the athletes’ familial dependence and provides nutrition resources to parents.
This is a five-part group and team education series designed to address the sport-, gender- and age-specific nutrition needs of the target population. Based on current research, adolescents perceive group education and discussion to be most useful. Each lesson includes handouts for reference and an interactive activity to enrich the educational experience.
An expert panel has reviewed this program and provided critical insight and recommendations for revisions. As verified by an expert review panel, this curriculum is evidence-based, current and applicable. This program was not pilot tested, but should be prior to implementation.

Testo completoOur research try to show the efficacity of setting goal technical (Locke et Latham 1990) on learning and motivation in Physical Education and in Sport (Famose, 2001), and is interested more exactly in self-regulatory processes, notably within the framework of selfregulated learning (Famose, 1999). According to several motivational theories such as control theory and self-regulary motivation (Carver et Scheier, 1981; 1998), individuals set goals, then monitor the discrepancies between their goals and performances, and finally adopt adaptative response patterns in choosing to persist in striving for the goal or revise the goal. Several factors influence how individuals respond differently to discrepancy feedback. These factors include the attributions made regarding the causes of performance (Weiner, 1986), the amount of time provided for task performance (Williams, Donovan et Dodge, 2000), and goal orientation (Dweck et Leggett, 1999 ; Radosevich D. J. Et al. , 2004). Results of ours experimental research indicated that goal setting increase performance and that self-regulated learning has positive effects on strategies and on learning

Testo completoCompanies recognized as brands increase their brand value compared to companies that are not recognized as brands. Brand Image is one of the constituent elements of brand equity. It is constructed of tangible and intangible components present in consumers’ mind. In our post-modern societies consumers’ tastes, aspirations and behaviour change and brands adapt their products to the expectations of their customers and prospects. The brand image impact on the purchasing intentions and measuring instruments exist to assess the predictability of purchase for products offered by the brand. Therefore the corporates have to know their customers based brand image. In France, the professional clubs of team sports as football and rugby have opted for a status similar to companies in other sectors and some of them have become brands in their own right. The sport entertainment industry is a singular one and its most famous representative the football industry requests a specific approach. The results provided by the developed methodology reveal the factors that influence the sport spectators’ perceptions of the French clubs and reflect at the same time an essential part of football clubs’ brand equity

Testo completoThis capstone project lays the groundwork for launching a non-profit soccer club in East Los Angeles focused on using soccer as the motivation to develop student athletes academically and as leaders in their school, home, and community. There is a need for sport opportunities in underserved neighborhoods, many benefits that being a part of a sports team can have, and sports development programs currently operating that are doing it well. Elite youth soccer in the United States is available only to those with money and parental support. East Los Angeles is barren of any such opportunity with poor local fields, gang violence, single-family homes, less than ten percent of residents with a bachelors degree, and roughly one-third below the poverty line. This club will work to overcome these obstacles by providing opportunity for elite soccer, mentoring, and tutoring in a safe, fun, and respectful environment.

Testo completoChronic diseases pose public health concerns globally with an increasing trend in developing countries. The development of interventions to minimize or prevent the burden associated with chronic diseases has therefore become a necessity. In 2002 the School of Public Health of the University of the Western Cape developed a health club intervention in Khayelitsha. This intervention focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, particularly improved diet and physical activity. The objectives of this study was to determine whether members were more physically active than non-members and to determine whether members made healthier dietary choices than non-members.

Testo completoThe stadium of Colombes is probably one of the most eminent French sports construction in the twentieth century. Indeed, in 1907, the installation which replaced the former racecourse became a stadium for the 1924 Olympic Games. Colombes was a place for the most important international events, but was especially the French national stadium until 1972 when the new Parc des Princes was built. French sport's witness during fifty years, Yves-du-Manoir' stadium, owned by Racing Club de France and the Comité National des Sports, is constantly linked with the question of a 100,000 seat big stadium. Despite being the French biggest sports installation, Colombes is a “by default stadium”, a wrecked attempt of a monumental project which has punctuated its whole existence. Therefore we first analyze the origins of this question at the beginning of the 20th century and then go back over the mechanisms which led to the construction of the Olympic enclosure. The study of its running and its management constitute an other main line. At last, we study the thwarted destiny of this stadium, the rivalry with other constructions, the negative image of the place and the threat of a monumental stadium

Abstract: Sport appears as a socio-cultural phenomenon, characterized as dynamic as the society itself. Its modern version dates from the late eighteenth century in England, and its expansion has been driven by institutions that fostered, in particular schools and sporting clubs. In contemporary times, the social and sports club is still one of the leading organizations promoting the sport, especially in the western world, like Brazil. However, in recent decades sport changed and is adapting to the globalized world, to the consumer society and to the speed of the media, manifesting itself in multiple ways and contributing to different segments of society. The social and sports club, in contrast, is divided between traditional aspects of its management and operation and the current demands of diversification and professionalization, which characterizes the current moment of crisis, particularly related to federate sports. From this perspective, the study addresses the interface between sport and social and sports club in order to understand the current moment in the Brazilian context, intending to signal new opportunities for social and sports club with the sport. For this, it describes the evolution of sport and the relationship of the social and sports club with the phenomenon since its modern --- to contemporary period, emphasizing the Brazilian context. From this theoretical discussion, the study advances to a case study in a Spanish sports club, "Club Basquet Coruña", a club that has shown success in providing basketball in the federate model, with an increase of 374.5% federated athletes linked to the club in the last five years and also results for their basketball adult team that led them to ascend in three professional leagues in Spain. I was made from semi-structured interviews with directors of the club in order to identify management actions that have made possible the sportive and institutional growth at the club interface with the possibilities of contemporary sport. The study has four specific objectives: (1) describe de relationship between sport clubs and sport over there specific periods: modern, transition and contemporary; (2) understand the social and sporting club in the Brazilian context, (3) study the sports club in the Spanish context, (4) signal to the possibilities of promoting the sport through club in the contemporary context, (5) signal for club improving through sport.

Regarding sports clubs, during the early period, sports clubs in Europe and America offered a variety of sports that had been popular for the nobilities, such as horseback riding and so on. The sports clubs back then featured several characteristics: 1. There were restrictions on the number of members and member status. People with specific professions and professionals were selected as the members, thus limiting the number of members; 2. The sports club activities were monotonous and limited in content and most of them involved the activities the nobilities engaged in the past. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) specifically defined “social enterprise” in 2002, emphasizing that a social enterprise is a corporate organization with social benefits as its main business objective. The year-end surplus should be invested in business-oriented or community development related projects, rather than being allocated to shareholders or owners for profit maximization. It has been nearly 15 years since the establishment of the Landmark Club. Its activities, clubs, and internal structure have reached considerable maturity and completeness. Additionally, they offer cordial and attentive services and products that meet members’ needs to improve profitability, thereby retaining customer loyalty. Hence, through the literature reviews, the management models of sports clubs were first explored, and social responsibility and social enterprise were defined. Then, based on the business model and member structure of the Landmark Club, the management models of the regional sports clubs were discussed, and their correlation with social enterprises were put forth. Further, targeting the future objectives of the Landmark Club, coupled with the social corporate responsibility, improvement suggestions and comments were put forward. This paper is expected to provide some evidence to future studies on regional sports clubs and social corporate responsibility. The results show that through market positioning and self-positioning, the development model of the Landmark Club shall serve as a reference for public-owned fitness centers. As the Taipei City Government has also established health centers in different regions, by referring to the development model of the Landmark Club, the health centers in the regions can be transformed into gathering places of humanities in the communities. Instead of being just “gyms”, the sports culture and community developed can be deeply rooted, and the social function of the social enterprise (non-profit organization) can be brought out into full play.
