Testo completoThe Darwin Awards are awarded posthumously to people who have performed a stupid act and have lost their lives as a result of that act, so part of the assumption that the human less endowed genetically, does not survive. To do this, a bibliographical review was made on the internet (Google Sscholar and descriptor DeCS), because no information was found in other sources. This award has aroused the curiosity of researchers to explain the reasons why men expose themselves more than women to dangerous situations, even postulating the “male idiocy theory”.

Testo completoThis dissertation focuses on the analysis of the gender perspective in training programmes related to physical activity and sport. To this end, three research questions were addressed: 1) What is the evolution of women’s presence among students and teachers in training programmes in the field of physical activity and sport in Catalonia?, tackled analysing the reproduction and change processes of traditional gender patterns in physical activity and sport, in the education system and in the university system; 2) What factors influence the interest of students of 4th ESO and 1st Bachillerato towards training programmes and careers in the field of PASS?, which was approached from the Social Cognitive Theory of Career Development; and, 3) How is the gender perspective integrated into the curriculum of the bachelor’s degree in PASS in Spain?, in which both the Theory of Social Construction of Pedagogical Discourse and Phase Theories of gender issues have been considered. Three different research methods were developed, each of which was designed to address one of these questions. First, the analysis of secondary data from historical records of enrolment and faculty of different programmes related to physical activity and sport in Catalonia. Second, an ad hoc questionnaire on the interest of students towards these programmes in Catalonia, Madrid and Galicia (n=4146). Third, content analysis of curricular materials (16 programme specification documents and 763 course handbooks) in 16 Spanish public universities offering the bachelor’s degree in PASS, selected through criterion sampling. Based on the data analysis and the theory review, the author developed a theoretical model. This model brings together and connects the set of elements that allow us to understand the status quo of PASS programmes from a gender perspective.

Testo completoThis study aims at investigating prejudice against women through the men's opinions regarding to feminine insertion in a profession considered masculine: information technology. Specifically, we planned to answer to the following question: how do men evaluate women that act in professions of masculine prevalence? Our sample was constituted by 253 men. Of these, 54.2% were information technology students and 45.8% were emplyees in two information technology companies, one federal and one municipal. The mean age was 31.4 years (DP=10.7 years), with minimum of 18 and maximum 58 year-old. Two thirds of participants (66.6%) were married or lived with somebody. The participants answered a questionnaire formed by open questions and Likert-type scales. Taken together, the results indicate that the adhesion to the hostile sexism and the benevolent sexism co-exist among the participants, however, a tendency exists to higher levels of hostile sexism among the students. Those results are discussed from the perspective of the Theory of the Realistic Conflicts (Sherif, 1967).

As entrevistas continham perguntas abertas e fechadas.

Testo completoThe research aimed to explore the relationship between ambivalent sexism, political ideology, and gender stereotypes in science and engineering students. Therefore, a mixed investigation was conducted. The first study was qualitative and, through interviews, the gender stereotypes in science and engineering careers were explored. The results show that science and engineering spaces are challenging for women, because a vision based on gender roles is maintained through traditional masculinity and the rejection of femininity are promoted. Therefore, their capabilities are questioned and their presence is not fully accepted. Based on the information collected, a scale of gender stereotypes in the fields of science and engineering was developed. The second study was quantitative (N = 160) by which the relationship between ambivalent sexism, political ideology and gender stereotypes associated with science and engineering was analyzed. It was found that the variables are directly related and both right-wing authoritarianism and gender stereotypes in science and engineering have an effect on the levels of ambivalent sexism. Furthermore, it was observed that the variables have a different impact on the components of ambivalent sexism.

Based on the foundations of dialectical historical materialism, theorized by Marx and Engels, and authors who shared a conception of society formulated in the principles of social equality and democracy as: Manacorda (2007), Frigotto (2012), Vigotsky (2007), Carvalho (1999), Marx e Engels (2012), Arroyo (2008), Libâneo (2012), Oliveira (2011), Haddad (1993), Brzezinski (2014), Severino (2007), Kramer (2011), Aranha (2006), Engels (2009), Hoffmann (2015), Campos e Campos (2012), Haddad (1993), Oliveira (2011), Lakatos e Marconi (2006), Barbosa e Horn (2008), Severino (2007), Hofmann (2015). Was analyzed at first, the trajectory of early childhood education in Brazil, with his assistencialist basis and poverty combat, including the emergence of women's work with little children and their sexist character. Discussed about this point and the legal ways to break with paternalism in early childhood education as a form to guarantee the right to education provided in the Federal Constitution of 1988. The sexism in early childhood education was another analysis category: its rise, its manifestation, the positioning of combat and the rejection to its existence. For better understanding, it was made an analysis of the children’s rights, researching several authors of early childhood education, in a broadest sense and social issues, such as welfare and sexism. It was punctuated the course of early childhood education in Brazil since the actions in the colonial period to the present day. As the education of young children, is proposed under Brazilian law and how it is in reality. In Brazil, the early childhood education to the Federal Constitution had the assistencialist character and aimed care to the poor children held in philanthropic and religious institutions. In this context the figure of women and their social representation was one of the categories of analysis in this research. As a mother, daycare educator and victim of sexism in early childhood education. Starting 1988, the new Federal Constitution recognized the children's education as a right and in 1996 was recognized by the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education, as the first stage of basic education, from 0 to 6 years old, that should be offered by public institutions. Since then, the early childhood education has undergone many transformations, and the professional who works directly with the children, once lay caregiver win the educator condition and get the proper training. Teacher education and professional that assists in Early Childhood Education classes had great relevance in this study. In this project we proposed a reality of this research and professional, identifying their profile, their conditions of work and life, as well as public policies for this educational level. To this end it was made a field research using questionnaires to the professionals in the municipality of Senador Canedo, including its literature and documents. After the investigation of the reality experienced by many the professionals who are working directly with children in the Early Childhood Education groups has produced a report on the data collected in the survey. This served as a sample to show the conditions under which is the work with the child in early childhood education, which needs the reality between the teacher’s children, their frustrations, their needs and working conditions, revealing the child care characteristics in kindergarten.

The achievements of women's social movements have granted such group historically denied rights, it is however noted nowadays that socially constructed values reproduce sexist concepts with regards to human relationships and it is likewise remarkable the important role school education has to encourage attitudes against sexism. On such matter and in the Portuguese language teaching environment of a state school, the purpose of this research is analysing students' concepts on the condition of women in contemporary, with the scope to trigger reasonings on the way such school discipline can contribute to debates on sexism through a methodological approach which can enable the development of writing and reading skills as well as the development of the student's critical reflections about human relationships. From this point and through Cultural Circles on the basis of Paulo Freire's theoretical perspective, students from a state school analysed literary and informational texts about the condition of women, aiming to understand the importance of the referred activity for the setting up of feminist ideas. The survey is characterised as exploratory and brought up hypotheses with regards to the Methodology of the Portuguese Language Teaching and Human Rights Education, specifically against sexism.

This research investigates the implications of the feminization of journalism and gender inequalities in the practice of journalism from the perspective of 20 women who worked or works in the profession in Goiânia. Through their experiences, the conditions of work, the changes brought about by the new communication technologies and the precariousness of the profession are analyzed. It also investigates the relations of the journalists with the head, with the colleagues, with the direction of the company and with the sources, as well as the experiences of those who have performed or are in the position of leadership. The interviewees report cases of moral and sexual harassment, situations of sexism, male chauvinism and other discrimination based on gender differences, which also intersect with other elements, such as race, class and origin. The professionals reveal their conceptions of gender and reflect on the ideologies that are passed on by journalism as a producer of meanings and legitimator of values and visions circulating in the social environment. In addition, the reconciliation between work and personal life is analyzed, since the exercise of journalism requires dedication and reproductive work remains a feminine responsibility. In the effort to perceive transformations and continuities, the interviewees are journalists who began to work in the profession in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010. The theoretical-methodological basis is developed from studies on journalism, which talk about the ways of producing news and the identity of the journalist; and gender studies that raise questions about the naturalized behaviors of sexism practiced by both men and women that result in different types of oppression, backed by biological differences and the presumption of male superiority.

Abstract : This dissertation has as its "leitmotiv" the discussion about a linguistic usage - the generic masculine - and a linguistic concept - the unmarked gender - in a situation which we will call grammatical sexism. The generic masculine can be described, briefly, as the usage of the masculine grammatical gender to denote the human gender (i.e. men and/or women). The concept of unmarked gender, in its turn, has its origins in the structuralist school and it still holds an important role in contemporary linguistic studies as a theoretical background for the description of the generic masculine. At the end of this dissertation, we hope to have demonstrated to the reader that the usage of the masculine generic and the concept of unmarked gender work together in the maintenance of what we call grammatical sexism.

This dissertation analyzes the experiences, practices and positionalities of black women as markers for the construction of the human rights of black women, from the perspective of the members of the Grupo de Mulheres Negras Mãe Andresa, following three dimensions: the impact of the colonial period on the creation of racism and social sexism; the geopolitics of the place as an influence for the construction of the human rights of black women; and the sense of the geopolitics of the place in which the black women subject of the research move to their social mobility, understanding spaces as representation or subalternization. The work focuses on the Grupo de Mulheres Negras Mãe Andresa, at which the survey was conducted during the year 2017, but with a look at the historicity of the group. The methodology used was oral history, from which one could think of the need to occupy spaces of representation by the members of the group, such as the Historic Center of São Luís, in Maranhão, where its headquarters is located, to claim visibility and rights of black women, surpassing the condition of social subalternization imposed on them.

Testo completoThe goal of this research is to verify the validity and consistency of Grice´s Implicatures Theory (1975), which describes and explains the implicit meaning as an inferential process of communication. The advertising slogans are used as source, because they have a significant layer of implicatures, it means, they say more than they have said. These implicatures can be of different types, but this study verify the implicatures which indicate sexism traces, it means, indicate some discrimination mark about the genre, in this case, the feminine genre. Grice´s Implicatures Theory, which is pragmatic, is considered important because it deals with the meaning that escapes from the semantic theory. So, this study emphasizes the interface between Pragmatics and Semantics, presuming that one area completes the other in relation to the study of the meaning.

Testo completoThe present study seeks to identify if there are differences according to sex in the relationship between gender role identity and ambivalent sexism in a group of cadets. For this purpose, a quantitative methodology research was elaborated (N = 60), which allowed to explore the existence of differences between sexes in the relation between ambivalent sexism and gender identity, as well as differences according to demographic variables as Specialty and place of origin. The results for the male cadets indicate that benevolent Sexism is a good predictor for hostile sexism, masculinity for benevolent sexism, and masculinity for femininity. Likewise, it was found that the male cadets, and those that conformed the area of Weapons had greater acceptance to the hostile sexism. The second study was carried out with a qualitative methodology. In this, through individual interviews, the conceptions about gender identity (femininity and masculinity) and the perception of the role of women in military institutions were investigated. The results show that representations associated with gender roles occur from the traditional role stereotype, which reinforces the sexual division of labor and maintains inequality between male and female cadets.

Testo completoThe objective of the research was to identify relationships between the variables political ideology, ambivalent sexism and religiosity; in addition to identifying potential differences according to the sex of the participants, and according to religious belief. The sample consisted of 161 people born in Lima, of which 77 men and 84 women, between 18 and 58 years old (M = 23.17, SD = 7.71). The Orientation towards Social Dominance Scale (Pratto, Sidanius, Stallworth & Malle, 1994), the Right Wing Authoritarianism Scale (Zakrisson, 2005), the Ambivalent Sexism self-report questionnaire (Glick and Fiske, 1996) and the Scale of religiosity (IE - 12) (Simkin and Etchezahar, 2013). The results suggest a significant correlation between the SDO scales with the RWA and the level of religiosity of the participants. Likewise, in relation to the first specific objective (finding a relationship between the mentioned variables according to sex), men presented significantly higher scores in the dimensions of the ambivalent sexism variable (hostile and benevolent), as well as in the RWA scales (right wing authoritarianism) and SDO (social dominance orientation), compared to women. It is discussed how a lower score perceived by women can be explained through cultural changes in recent years. In the same way, in relation to the second specific objective (find differences in the mentioned variables according to whether they are a religious believer or not), religious believers present higher scores than non-believers in religiosity, right-wing authoritarianism (RWA), benevolent sexism, hostile sexism, personal extrinsic orientation, social extrinsic orientation, and intrinsic orientation.

Testo completoThis research aims to describe the relationship between maternal gatekeeping and ambivalent sexismin mothers of preeschool children. In addition, the specific objectives of this study are to compare the reports of mothers and fathers regarding maternal gatekeeping, and compare that variable based on the mother’s work status, the age of children and the presence of younger siblings. Also, for ambivalent sexism, the specific objective is to describe it in relation to the years of study of the mothers and the socioeconomic level of the families. For this, the variables mentioned were measured in 86 mothers, with ages between 21 and 46 years ( M =35.30; SD =5.72), of children who were between 24 and 70 months ( M =43.19; SD =11.56), using the Parental Regulation Inventory (PRI) to measure maternal gatekeeping, and the Ambivalent Sexism Inventory to measure ambivalent sexism. Negative and significant correlations were found in terms of ambivalent sexism, the mothers’ years of study and socioeconomic status, and no significant differences were found regarding gatekeeping according to the characteristics mentioned. Regarding the general objective, a direct and significant correlation was found between gatekeeping criticism behaviors and benevolent sexism, which suggests that, the more a mother presents beenvolent sexism attidues, she would be more critical and controlling of the involvement of the father.

Testo completoThe present research aims to examine the prevalence, characteristics and effects of street harassment in adults ranging from 19 to 40 years old in Lima. It analyzes the level of ambivalent sexism and sexist views in young adults and determines whether there are gender or age differences. The participants were 195 adults, 138 (69.2%) women and 60 (30.8%) men. The results suggest that women experienced a higher frequency of Street Sexual Harassment than men. Harassment situations usually take place on the streets and are generated by men. As a result, people who have suffered from street harassment prefer to change their routines to avoid this. It was also found that there are significant relationships between the constructs of ambivalent sexism and sexist opinions.

Testo completoThe aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between values, political ideology, ambivalent sexism and unfavorable attitudes towards female leadership in students of a Non- Commissioned Officers School in Lima metropolitan area. The sample consists of 217 participants from Lima (141 men and 76 women) with an average age of 21 years. For this reason, we used four scales and a sociodemographic data sheet. The statistics consisted of parametric correlations, mean comparisons and hierarchical multiple regression. The results showed significant associations between the mentioned variables. In addition, higher scores of Benevolent Sexism were identified throughout the sample and men scored higher than women in both types of sexism. Finally, it was found that hostile sexism, conservation and openness values, as well as the RWA are variables that predict unfavorable attitudes towards female leadership within the sample, which shows that there is a certain rejection towards equal opportunities that women can have within the military.

Testo completoThe present research aimed to study the relationship between the dimensions of romantic adult attachment and ambivalent sexism in university students. For this investigation, there were 139 students from different private universities in Metropolitan Lima between 18 and 25 years old (M = 21.4, SD = 2.19) who had experienced at least one relationship. The dimensions of romantic adult attachment were evaluated using the Spanish adaptation of the Revised Scale of Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR-R) (Fraley, Waller & Brennan, 2000), and for Ambivalent Sexism the Spanish adaptation of the Inventory of Ambivalent Sexism (ASI) by Cruz, Zempoaltecatl and Correa (2005). It was found that the anxiety dimension correlated positively with benevolent sexism in women. Likewise, the avoidance dimension with hostile sexism in men. Finally, the implications of understanding attachment variables and their relationship with sexist attitudes in different ways in young women and men are discussed.
SOUZA, G. L. "Um estudo crítico do sexismo: modelos mentais em notícias sobre violência contra a mulher". Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, 2015. http://repositorio.ufes.br/handle/10/10361.

In the present work we investigated how content and linguistic form brought daily sexist way, can affirm and reinforce prejudice and discriminatory attitudes and can therefore reveal oppressive relations. To do so, we performed a theatrical practice with the Theatre of the Oppressed as a home base, through the use of games, techniques, aesthetics and concepts created and / or systematized by Augusto Boal, coupled with other methodologies corroborate the work. A triad of studies was established involving: theater, language and gender, which primarily aims to understand how youth reflect on the linguistic sexism – existing even so hidden in Portuguese – and if somehow causes him oppressions, may thus transform them through the theatrical practice offering new significance to them. Through this theoretical and practical research, which was done raising theoretical material, methodological development for the development of theater classes and reflection and analysis conducted after the practical development, it was possible to establish a dialogue with the proposed triad, in order to reflect on the way how these issues develop in the educational process and reverberate in society. With this work brings up a dialog in order to uncover how teaching theater can, but should be a sociopolitical act in that sense experiences are living among humans.

The second study employed a quantitative methodology (N=135), it allowed to analyze the relationship between ambivalent sexism, patriarchal beliefs and symbolic violence; as well as, identify differences according to sociodemographic variables such as sex, age, education level and others. The results indicate that the constructs are directly related and the ambivalent sexist attitudes as well as the patriarchal beliefs are part of the base of symbolic violence. Additionally, men, older people, people with a lower education level, lower socioeconomic level and those who live in Huancayo show higher punctuations.

Testo completoOn March 1, Camila, four years old, along with her two-year-old sister and her nine-year-old cousin, went to look for her mother who was at a patronal party, a few blocks from her house. Along the way, a 15-year-old man intervened with the girls and kidnapped Camila, then raped and murdered her. This happened in the district of Independencia. After the murder of the girl Camila, the programs: Al Estilo Juliana, ATV Matinal and Día D, belonging to the ATV group, covered the news involving the mother of the victim, Mirella Huamán Santiago, 22 years old. This work identifies the image that this television medium wanted to build of the mother, based on the comments made by the hosts of each program, the testimonies, stories and headlines of the reports. Who blamed the mother for what happened, implying that she led her daughter to be kidnapped and later killed. In the same way, the actions she took prior to Camila's crime and also the behavior she had when she found out that her daughter was missing was judged. Likewise, aggressive and degrading comments were made towards Mirella Huamán, discrediting her role as a mother, apart from exposing part of her private life. In this way, her image was publicly violated, which caused many people to deliberately criticize her on social networks. A constroversial case, where these programs directed part of their focus on Huamán Santiago, when the real murderer was a 15-year-old boy.

Testo completoThe present investigation aimed to explore the relationship between conservative political ideology, ambivalent sexism and beliefs and/or attitudes about street sexual harassment (ASC) in a sample of residents of Metropolitan Lima over 18 years. Additionally, it aimed to explore differences by sex in beliefs about ASC. There were 140 participants, 58 women (41.43%) and 82 men (58.57%). To measure the beliefs and attitudes about the ASC, the Questionnaire on Street Sexual Harassment (CASC) was elaborated and its final version consisted of 12 items distributed in three factors: detection of harassment behaviors, harassment such as violence and minimization of harassment. The results revealed that, mainly, the SDO and hostile sexism were negatively related to the detection of behaviors and the recognition of harassment as violence, while maintaining a positive relationship with the minimization of harassment. In addition, the path analysis showed that the SDO would be the main predictor of beliefs about street harassment since it acted directly and indirectly, thanks to the mediation of hostile sexism. Finally, in the comparison by sex, it was obtained that men scored significantly higher in minimizing harassment and in the other two factors it was women who obtained significantly higher scores.

The objective of this study is to identify and analyze the intersection of institutionalized racism and sexism in the Penitentiary for Women of Salvador, Bahia, which is part of the Lemos de Brito Penal Complex. For that purpose, it relies on the concept of intersectionality as a theoretical, methodological, and practical tool to capture the markers of the binomial race-gender that engender the differentiated oppression of black women in a situation of imprisonment. It is affiliated to an afro-descendant research methodology and to the epistemological contribution of Black feminism. The investigation is concentrated on the field of studies on women, gender, and feminism, showing that the absence of public policies informed by a gender and race perspective, geared towards imprisoned women, intensify the technologies of power in penal execution. The study is based on ethnographic field research carried out during the months of December, 2011, and January, 2012, when prison directors, staff, and interns were interviewed. The study revealed that, as it happens in other similar institutions, most of the imprisoned women are poor, black, partially illiterate, and imprisoned on drug traffic charges. It showed that while all are subjected to humiliating situations, loss of privacy, poor medical assistance, and different forms of violence on the part of the institution, black women, due to their condition of race and class which results in low levels of schooling, are even deprived of the few work opportunities available. The study also revealed instances of lack of tolerance, both on the part of the staff as well as of other inmates, towards the practice of Afro-Brazilian religions, as well as to the exercise of sexuality, with expressions of lesbophobia. It further reviewed that the institution under investigation is far from putting into practice the Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Imprisoned Women enacted since 2010.

Testo completoBody language has existed since the beginning of humanity. In the past, communication was based solely on gestures, postures, movements, among others. These days, body language has become a very powerful tool that offers organizations an improvement in their communication processes; however, it is very little used. In recent years, companies have been training employees in the sales area for greater performance in the management of their body language. However, the other areas have not shown any interest in them, so they have lost the possibility of improving their working environment and performance. In this paper we present topics that influence body language or kinésico system, among them, culture, language according to gender, training, effective communication and complement of verbal and non-verbal communication, with the aim of demonstrating that body language is a valid discipline for the best human management in organizations. To carry out the study, we have established a bibliographic research methodology for articles that are in quartile one and two (mostly). These have not allowed to identify and confirm the importance of body language in organizations.

Nesta mesma época, surgem no Brasil duas proeminentes publicações: a Estudos Feministas e a Cadernos Pagú. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
In the western world, renowned thinkers conceived both the ideas of gender and species in a very similar fashion, and used them as tools to reinsure the superiority of the male human. Since the Classical era, through the exaltation of the rationality as the essence of the human spirit, men established dominance over women, animals and the environment. The feminist movement, particularly since the 1970’s, began to deconstruct those “truths” of gender as well as their instituted oppressions and hierarchy. Such debate results in the questioning of the ideals of humanity and the relativization of knowledge by understanding affection, experiences and dissident identities. In this context, certainties about what is the human being and what differentiates it from the rest of the existence were questioned, and the animals were definitively included in the gender theory through the animalist ecofeminism of the 1990’s. At the same time, in Brazil, two prominent publications arose: “Estudos Feministas” [Feminist Studies] and “Cadernos Pagu” [Pagú Booklets]. This research analyzed the position relegated to women and animals in the western thought regarding a masculinist ideal of humanity; the feminist reaction to this gender/species oppression; and the reasons explaining the non-consolidation, to date, of the animal feminist studies in Brazil. A quali-quantitative analysis of both magazines, Estudos Feministas and Cadernos Pagú – pinnacles of the Brazilian academic thinking –, aiming at mapping the main subjects, gender discussions and theoretical perspectives being evidenced within the country. The results showed that the Social Sciences, women’s movements and racial issues are relevant factors for the discussion of gender in this context, while ecofeminism and animal oppression are practically forgotten debates. Concluding, therefore, that in order to improve animal feminist studies in Brazil, non-human animals need a broader participation in the praxis of feminist activism, racial discussions and Social Sciences. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ RESUMEN

This dissertation addresses the topic of black women’s experiences of dealing with health services of Distrito Federal/DF during prenatal, delivery and postpartum/puerperium. The main purpose was to investigate and analyse how race, in articulation with gender, interferes in the interactions between black women and health institutions and professionals during prenatal, delivery and postpartum/puerperium. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with fifteen women who received prenatal care and gave birth in DF. The reports of the interviewees - articulated with findings of theoretical and empirical researches and official data from the Brazilian government - provided important elements to increase understanding on how black women experience and formulate their experiences about these three important moments of their reproductive lives. It was possible to verify that the treatments received, as well as obstacles to ensuring black women’s rights are showed in relational dynamics involving racial discrimination interconnected with the reproduction of gender inequalities associated with different social markers that reinforce or alleviate the effects of racism and sexism. In addition, the research found approximations with racist and sexist social representations about the bodies and social roles of black women in their interaction with health services and professionals.
