Testo completoThe father is the male parent, the mother's husband. After showing three successive contradictions: (1) Aristoteles naturalism, (2) the culturalism of gender theories (feminism and cultural anthropology), (3) the institutionalism of psychanalysis inspired theories (Legendre), we are led to a renewed analysis of fatherhood through an ontological approach. We then demonstrate that the parenthood can be defined as the origin of the child, in an ontological sense (Siewerth). In order to answer Sartre's objection, we then specify that parenthood, as an origin, is a form of communion (Fessard) and wisdom, which involves radical responsibility (Kant, Jonas, Lévinas, Péguy). The father can then be defined as a CO-origin in communion with the mother. We then show that marriage is the principle and the adequate structure of fatherhood and the "communional" family. From the above starting principle, we also demonstrate that the father is the male parent. We then criticize such personnalism by denouncing the father biopower (Agamben, Foucault) and by putting forward radical queer objections (Butler). In order to overcoming such objections, we are thus forced to seek the foundation of fatherhood beyond the human condition and look for conditions witch make communional fatherhood possible in transcendental ontological tenus. Our thesis then stumbles on the patriarchal aporia of divine analogy (Thomas of Aquinas) and opens the way to a perception of fatherhood based on a catalogical approach (Weil, Stein, Péguy) in keeping with communional, Trinity based monotheism

Testo completoThinking of the notion of authority, we can affirm that it's the authority position which makes the law. The modernity brought us to think that the "juris dictio" was the privilege of the law maker whose the rationality and the sovereignity are the basic paradigms of the law. The erisis of the modernity reveals us today that there is not only one but many authority positions and each society has its own that correspond to the real needs of people and that are occupied by people able not only to oct up on the other member, of the society but also to canalize their basic aspirations. Today in zaire, very few social actors occupy authority positions. The zairain musician has to come out his playing role in order to held a moral authority position

Testo completoLa 4e de couverture indique : "In 1996, a team from Taiwan refined the methods enabling the sex of an individual to be determined using cephalometric plots made from lateral teleradiography. The aim of our study was to validate their work using a dry skull of an European population. . 18 cephalometric variables were measured on lateral teleradiography manually and with an orthodontic software. Using the discriminant analysis, sex was determined with 82% and 95. 6% of accuracy, respectively. A subset of 8 variables was selected and could predict sex with the same accuracy. In conclusion, this method is reliable, simple, and directly applicable in anthropology, human palaeontology and forensic sciences"

Testo completoThe analysis of the various manifestations of kinship, marriage and gender in a society of the eastern part of papua new guinea composes the bulk of this dissertation but the work also reveals the strategic position body representations, i. E. Conception, growth, maturation and decline over a lifetime occupy between these two areas of social life. The description of the organization of subsistence activities and relationships between persons and groups, the analysis of genealogies and marriages over more than five generations, but also the account of narratives, ritual ceremonies and representations of procreation consitute the data from which several results, some speciific, some more general, have been obtaines. A number are of an ethnographic nature and are concerned with local representations of the person and of parenthood that express themselves according to modes hitherto unknown among the anga. They reveal the male domination here is less harsh and is characterized by the fact that women's roles and activity are explicitly recognized and not systematically denigrated. Lastly, it is demonstrated that there exists a link between male initiations and procreation on the one hand, and between kinship and gender on the other

Testo completoThis thesis is a reflection on the cohabitations outside marriage in Gabnon. It analyzes the changes in the process of marital union, in sexuality, in the family solidarity necessary to the constitution of the dowry or marital deal of a close relative who wishes to get married, in family roles with regard to sex and generations. Our conclusions show that marriage no longer constitutes the family basis and unions outside marriage also known as cohabitation have become the first stage leading to the union. With regard to the new forms of conjugality and to the aspiration of the couples, we notice that rules and forms of "traditional" matrimoniality reconstitute with the current transformations. The current process of social individualization reflects a changing society whose mechanisms are fueled by "traditional" as well as "modern" considerations. The Gabonese modernity is based on various cultures stemming from ethnic mix and from social models coming from outside

Testo completoThrough ethnological analyses and experiments as well as psychoanalytic clinics, this work establishes that Freud's statement about the" concordance" between the psychic process of so-called " primitive" societies and of "neurotics" is totally justified. Starting from the deconstruction of « Totemism », which was considered for a long time as prototypical of the so-called « primitive » peoples, in this analysis of the whole of the mythico- rituals phenomena which a constitute it, we want to put the stress on the turning point where they are articulated so as to form what we call « a totemical-initiatical complex » viewed as an actual « total social fact » which presents the same « primordial » characteristics, or « fundamental « ones which get along through the process of « primary » or « originary » symbolizations of the individual psyche. It is put forward that in these processes of the constitution of a society as in that of the individual psychic System, the « feminine» question is central. We call » archaic » the whole of these social phenomena and individual psychic processes, so as to mean they escape a linear temporality in the sense of a developmental vision. We meet a postfreudian psychoanalytical conception which suggests a pendular movment of psychic "positions", animating the psychic life. In such positions the question of the difference of the sexes and the sexual union are privileged unconscious forms of the representation of the" primordial" elements of the symbolization process, at the point where the question of generation are at the foreground, and support all the processes of either " collective" or " individual" life

This thesis is about the Swedish armed forces and the equality goals which have been established to give equal opportunities between the sexes and to encourage more women to join the armed forces. More specifically this study is about the women of the armed forces and whether they believe that these equality goals have been achieved or not. The thesis is based on interviews with three female officers employed by the Swedish armed forces. They answered questions regarding their experiences of the equality goals and about their day to day life regarding their job as well as questions about their social life. The conclusion of this thesis is that the armed forces in general seem to be good employer regarding equality, regardless of the women’s individual lifestyles, but that there is still work to do regarding the equality between the sexes.

Testo completoThe aim of fair trade is to provide an alternative to conventional international commercial relations, in terms of justice, equality and sustainable development. Sustainable development looks for a global view of development and embraces social, environmental and economic aspects. In the social area, sustainable development aims to conciliate actors’ interests, which imply paying special attention to marginalized groups to avoid an increase of existing inequalities. Taking into account that women compose a disadvantage group, what is their place in the alternative model proposed by fair trade? This paper intends to bring to light fair trade impacts on gender relations in developing countries. By one case study, it analyses the relation between a federation of Peruvian coffee cooperatives and the actors related to fair trade, in order to evaluate their influence on women’s participation in the cooperative. First, it describes the typical exclusion of women in the agricultural cooperative sector in developing countries. Then, it scrutinizes the non discrimination based on sex standard of the Fair Trade Labeling Organization (FLO), along with the concrete implementation of this demand. Lastly, this research tries to determine, from a feminist point of view, if fair trade can be considered as a tool for empowering women.

Testo completoFor some, surf practice is part of their building process in the midst of the contemporary worlds. To surf, and especially to become a surfer, is acquired through a traditional transmission, far from federal norms. Being a surfer means a different way of life, which shows in the interaction with other surfers, the use of nature , the outlook on the body as well as in the male/female relations. This particular environment, with its stigmatising aspects, is singled out by the rest of society. Surf practice, which oscilates between game and sport, might be an answer to the contemporary social crisis through its non-respect of rules and values. And it is through these social gaps that the relation to the surfer's world has filtered : this surfing culture which is therefore considered as deviant by the rest of society
Ridley, Simon. "Les sens de la liberté d’expression : socio-anthropologie comparative des campus de Berkeley et de Nanterre : appropriations, retournements, récupérations, recompositions et prolongements des mémoires collectives du Free Speech Movement de 1964 et du Mouvement du 22 Mars de 1968". Thesis, Paris 10, 2019. http://www.theses.fr/2019PA100013.
Testo completoThe university is one of the strongest institutions of the modern era. After having been a prime place for dissent in the 1960s, today it is the target of unprecedented attacks by the far-right. This work aims to follow a conflict of definition via a multi-sited ethnography using freedom of expression on university campuses as a world for research. The method combines comparative historical sociology – of the Free Speech Movement (1964) and the Mouvement du 22 Mars (1968) – with a socio-anthropological approach, to shed light over the dualization of the collective memories of student movements. Taking an inductive approach, I travel with my fieldwork via commemorative rites, terrorist attacks, an immersion in several revolutionary groups and a diversity of autonomous practices, all the way to the Trump inauguration and the battle of free speech with the rise of the alt-right and the far-right shows/meetings on campuses, and a series of urban riots. The systematic radical contextualization as well as the practice and genealogy of archives, a living knowledge and lateral comparison, commit to a historical study of the university. Against the theories of human capital and of democracy as a marketplace of ideas, I trace the questions of emancipation following the emergence of a « civic generation » after 1944 to the uses of digital technologies as cultural attacks on democracy. This political ethnography encourages us to (re)think sociology and critical pedagogy as counter-discourses against an anti-intellectual culture, and in doing so it aims to empower a culture of democratic intelligence, a reflexive heritage

Testo completoBetween 1766 and 1769, on the Étoile and the Boudeuse, more than three hundred men – and one woman dressed up as a man – sailed around the world. It was one of the first « discovery voyages ». Six of the sailors held logbooks. This thesis offers a study of these logbooks, in order to analyse the discursive processes at work in the descriptions and narrations of the first contacts between the sailors and the people they had met during their stopovers. I begin with a study of the narratives of the stopovers in the Strait of Magellan, and continue with the narratives of the stopover at Tahiti. There, Tahitian men and women welcomed the sailors in a particular way : they offered them food and drink in abundance, invited them into their houses, and suggested to the sailors that they were expected to make love with Tahitian women… The irruption of women and bodies at the foreground of the encounter disrupts the navigators, disrupts their narratives and allows for a better understanding of certain aspects of the « discovering » project – thanks to this disorder, thanks to these intrusions that disrupt the scientific programm. I also analyse the interpretations of theses narratives of the stopover at Tahiti, from the savants of the 18th century until the anthropologists of the 21 century

Testo completoThis thesis is about the effects of economic globalization on a highly marginalized rural population. More specifically, it examines the relations between development and migration in a municipality of Southern Yucatan, in Mexico. The author tries to reveal what fosters or hinders people to participate in development projects and to migrate toward national destinations or to another country. Gender, ethnicity – more specifically language capabilities –, and socioeconomic status are important elements for understanding participation in those activities. The most excluded women, targeted by development agencies, seem to be unable to take part in the projects and they migrate with more difficulties. Ethnicity also plays an important role. In the community of Chacsinkín, almost everyone speaks the maya language, but Spanish as a second language is a facilitating factor for participation in development projects and migration. Finally, participation in development projects and migration is influenced by socioeconomic status and are easier for those who are included in the most powerful political and economic networks.
