Abstract (sommario):
In order to solve the problem that the speed of augmenting in NEAT algorithm is obviously not fast enough. We bring in the hybridization scheme. The scheme mainly gets new progeny chromosomes by combining parents ones. But it will probably bring in abnormal genes. As we record the time stamp for every gene, we can easily ensure that those genes are the same, so that we can simply get those completely reasonable hybrid chromosomes. We mainly use the time stamp of every gene to record information and make progeny chromosomes.

Abstract (sommario):
A hybrid accelerated model with two step length parameters for solving unconstrained optimization problems is presented. Applied hybridization process involves an efficient three term hybrid method. The accelerated double step size model is taken as guiding operator in this hybridization process. Defined method is convergent on the set of uniformly convex functions as well as on the set on strictly convex quadratics. We display a Dolan Mor? performance profiles of derived iteration and of some other comparative hybrid and accelerated methods regarding the number of iterations and the number of function evaluations metrics. Displayed numerical test results confirm that derived model keeps a good properties of its forerunner method and outperform other comparative hybrid accelerated schemes.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractEstimates suggest that about 16% of bird species hybridize in the wild. This number is based on two main sources: the Handbook of Avian Hybrids of the World by Eugene McCarthy and the online Serge Dumont Bird Hybrids Database. Although both sources provide supporting references for the documented hybrids, the reliability of these references has not been systematically assessed. In this paper, I introduce a scoring scheme based on three criteria that are weighted based on their reliability, namely field observations or photographs (1 point), morphological analyses (2 points), and genetic analyses (3 points). The final tally of these three criteria (ranging from 0 to 6 points) will indicate the level of confidence for a particular hybrid. I test this scoring scheme on the Neotropical bird family Tinamidae (tinamous), in which several putative hybrids have been reported. My analysis revealed one well-documented case (Crypturellus boucardi × C. cinnamomeus) and three doubtful records that require further investigation. These findings highlight the need for thoroughly scrutinizing the sources supporting avian hybrids. The scoring system clearly illustrates its usefulness and can be easily applied to other taxonomic groups to increase the reliability of documenting interspecific hybrids.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: As the standard for the exchange of data over the World Wide Web, it is important to ensure that the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) database is capable of supporting not only efficient query processing but also capable of enduring frequent data update operations over the dynamic changes of Web content. Most of the existing XML annotation is based on a labeling scheme to identify each hierarchical position of the XML nodes. This computation is costly as any updates will cause the whole XML tree to be re-labelled. This impact can be observed on large datasets. Therefore, a robust labeling scheme that avoids re-labeling is crucial. Method: Here, we present ORD-GAP (named after Order Gap), a robust and persistent XML labeling scheme that supports dynamic updates. ORD-GAP assigns unique identifiers with gaps in-between XML nodes, which could easily identify the level, Parent-Child (P-C), Ancestor-Descendant (A-D) and sibling relationship. ORD-GAP adopts the OrdPath labeling scheme for any future insertion. Results: We demonstrate that ORD-GAP is robust enough for dynamic updates, and have implemented it in three use cases: (i) left-most, (ii) in-between and (iii) right-most insertion. Experimental evaluations on DBLP dataset demonstrated that ORD-GAP outperformed existing approaches such as ORDPath and ME Labeling concerning database storage size, data loading time and query retrieval. On average, ORD-GAP has the best storing and query retrieval time. Conclusion: The main contributions of this paper are: (i) A robust labeling scheme named ORD-GAP that assigns certain gap between each node to support future insertion, and (ii) An efficient mapping scheme, which built upon ORD-GAP labeling scheme to transform XML into RDB effectively.

Abstract (sommario):
We present a hybridization of the accelerated gradient method with two vector directions. This hybridization is based on the usage of a chosen three-term hybrid model. Derived hybrid accelerated double direction model keeps preferable properties of both included methods. Convergence analysis demonstrates at least linear convergence of the proposed iterative scheme on the set of uniformly convex and strictly convex quadratic functions. The results of numerical experiments confirm better performance profile in favor of derived hybrid accelerated double direction model when compared to its forerunners.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT In fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), the efficiency of hybridization between the DNA probe and the rRNA has been related to the accessibility of the rRNA when ribosome content and cell permeability are not limiting. Published rRNA accessibility maps show that probe brightness is sensitive to the organism being hybridized and the exact location of the target site and, hence, it is highly unpredictable based on accessibility only. In this study, a model of FISH based on the thermodynamics of nucleic acid hybridization was developed. The model provides a mechanistic approach to calculate the affinity of the probe to the target site, which is defined as the overall Gibbs free energy change (ΔG°overall) for a reaction scheme involving the DNA-rRNA and intramolecular DNA and rRNA interactions that take place during FISH. Probe data sets for the published accessibility maps and experiments targeting localized regions in the 16S rRNA of Escherichia coli were used to demonstrate that ΔG°overall is a strong predictor of hybridization efficiency and superior to conventional estimates based on the dissociation temperature of the DNA/rRNA duplex. The use of the proposed model also allowed the development of mechanistic approaches to increase probe brightness, even in seemingly inaccessible regions of the 16S rRNA. Finally, a threshold ΔG°overall of −13.0 kcal/mol was proposed as a goal in the design of FISH probes to maximize hybridization efficiency without compromising specificity.

Abstract (sommario):
Optimization of technical and economic parameters of electric power storage devices is a necessary condition for their widespread use. The article develops a general approach and proposes a methodology for assessing the economic efficiency of hybridization of electrochemical energy storage systems (ESSs). From the point of view of evaluating the effectiveness of storage hybridization, a number of model systems operating under different load conditions using different block functional interaction schemes are being investigated. Lead-acid batteries supplemented with lithium-ion batteries; lead-acid batteries supplemented with supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries supplemented with supercapacitors are considered as the basic types of hybrid storage devices. An electric forklift, a 30-apartment residential building, as well as a 300-apartment residential complex are considered as the load of the ESS. A quantitative and qualitative model for evaluating the effectiveness of hybridization is used, based on comparing the cost of buffering electricity by each type of battery and the hybrid drive as a whole. For all cases, economic indicators characterizing the cost of buffering electricity by hybrid ESSs are calculated and the advantages of a particular scheme of interaction of hybrid ESS blocks are analyzed. It is shown that the hybridization efficiency demonstrates a complex nonlinear dependence on the degree of hybridization, the type of which depends both on the type of batteries used and on the nature of the load schedule, as well as on the type of functional interaction of the blocks. A specific feature of this dependence is a sharp increase in economic efficiency at small values of a £ 0.01 and a further slowdown in the growth or fall of the graph. The obtained results make it possible to quantitatively compare the efficiency of the hybridization of the ESS for specific conditions of its operation. The considered models and methods can be used in the design of ESSs and “generator – storage – consumer” systems, assessment of the economic feasibility of hybridization of ESSs.

Abstract (sommario):
<p>In this paper, a time-fractional Cauchy equation (TFCE) is analyzed by using the q-homotopy analysis Shehu transform algorithm (q-HASTA) with convergence analysis. The q-HASTA comprises with the reduced differential transform algorithm (RDTA). The solution of TFCE is represented in the series form by using the q-HASTA scheme. The TFCE is transformed into algebraic form for finding the general solution efficiently. This provides a compact form solution with minimized error. There are three key outcomes of the work. First, the small size of input parameters by the RDTA transforms into the subsidiary equation so that it takes short time to solve. As the second advantage, the structure of the problem is reduced by controlling the solution series; hence the characterization of the solution becomes classified for finding the particular solution. The third advantage of this work is that the approximate solution with absolute error approximation for the fractional model of the problem is handled by using a generalized and efficient scheme q-HASTA. These outcomes are illustrated by graphs and tables.</p>

Abstract (sommario):
Aim. The research was to improve the technology of creating genetic diversity of samples obtained by remote hybridization of soft winter wheat and speltum wheat with usuing the biotechnological link in the selection scheme. Methods. Remote hybridization of plants is an effective method of obtaining new starting material. The research was conducted in the biotechnology laboratory of the Uman National University of Horticulture during 2018–2022. The initial maternal form was the soft winter wheat varieties Artemisia, Smuglyanka, Zolotokolosa and the parental form was the winter spelt variety Zorya Ukrainy. After hybridization, immature twelve-day-old embryos were planted on modified versions of MS nutrient medium and cultivated at 25 °C in the dark until macrostructures were formed. Results. The technology of obtaining hybrid material by remote hybridization of Triticum aestivum L. / Triticum spelta L. and its use in the selection scheme of the biotechnological link has been improved. Conclusions. A nutrient medium for the development of immature hybrid wheat germs has been developed. The highest yield of seedlings (40.0% on average by genotype) on the modified Murashige-Skug medium, which included 1,5 mg/l 6-benzylaminopurine, 0,5 mg/l indolylacetic acid, 1,0 mg/l gibberellin, 2,0 mg/l glutamine, 2,0 mg/l glycine, 0,5 mg/l serine, 100,0 mg/l meso-inositol, 50,0 g/l sucrose was recorded. It was noted that the induction of the development of biomaterial from hybrid immature embryos is a genetically determined factor. The possibility of obtaining genetic diversity of forms that can be used by donors of genes of individual traits using embryo culture was shown.

Abstract (sommario):
In this paper we present a study of the electronic properties of a one-dimensional Fibonacci chain with two hybridizing bands. Our study is motivated by recent experiments with quasicrystals in which transition metal atoms occupy positions of icosahedral symmetry. Using a recently proposed real space renormalization group scheme we make an exact analytical study of the two-band problem. We examine the effect of hybridization on the energy spectrum, the wave functions and the density of states of the Fibonacci chain. We find that the spectrum continues to remain a Cantor set even in the presence of hybridization. We conclude therefore this property of the spectrum is a purely structural effect. We present our results on the electronic density of states and show how hybridization produces additional structures in the energy spectrum.

Abstract (sommario):
Feature sizes of useful electronic devices are becoming smaller and reaching nanometer ranges. There is increasing demand to perform dynamic simulations of such nano-devices with realistic sizes. To date, various kinds of simulation methods have been used for materials and devices including the density-functional theory (DFT) and the molecular dynamics (MD) for atomistic mechanics and the finite element method for continuum mechanics. We review recent progresses in our multiscale, hybrid simulation schemes that combine those methods. The coarse-grained particles (CG) method originally proposed by Rudd and Broughton [Phys. Rev. B58 (1998), p. R5893] has features suitable to such hybridization. We improve the CG method so that it is applicable to realistic nanostructured materials with large deformations. A novel hybridization scheme that couples the DFT method with the MD method is presented, which is applicable to virtually any selection of the DFT region in a wide range of materials. Hybrid DFT-MD simulations of the H2O reaction with nanostructured Si and alumina systems under stresses are performed, to demonstrate significant effects of stress on the chemical reaction.

Abstract (sommario):
The article presents preliminary results of the molecular genetic investigation of poplar (Populus nigra L., Ps laurifolia Ledeb. etc) hybridization naturally and in the urban beautification within Russian Federation. All the investigated species and hybrids of the black poplar and balsam poplar demonstrate wide geographic variation at the molecular level naturally and when being cultivated. At the same time different species and hybrids being agglomerated in the same region can have some similar genome regions. This, most probably, is associated with the intensive cross-species hybridization. This scheme corresponds with the idea of the reticulate evolution of the black poplar and balsam poplar.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract A scheme for rapidly mapping chromosome rearrangements relative to the physical map of Caenorhabditis elegans is described that is based on hybridization patterns of cloned DNA on meiotic nuclei, as visualized by fluorescent in situ hybridization. From the nearly complete physical map, DNA clones, in yeast artificial chromosomes (YACs), spanning the rearrangement breakpoint were selected. The purified YAC DNAs were first amplified by degenerate oligonucleotide-primed polymerase chain reaction, then reamplified to incorporate fluorescein dUTP or rhodamine dUTP. The site of hybridization was visualized directly (without the use of antibodies) on meiotic bivalents. This allows chromosome rearrangements to be mapped readily if the duplicated, deficient or translocated regions do not pair with a normal homologous region, because the site or sites of hybridization of the probe on meiotic prophase nuclei will be spatially distinct. The pattern, or number, of hybridization signals from probes from within, or adjacent to, the rearranged region of the genome can be predicted from the genetic constitution of the strain. Characterization of the physical extent of the genetically mapped rearrangements places genetic landmarks on the physical map, and so provides linkage between the two types of map.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractA hybridization of a high order WENO-Zfinite difference scheme and a high order central finite difference method for computation of the two-dimensional Euler equations first presented in [B. Costa and W. S. Don, J. Comput. Appl. Math., 204(2) (2007)] is extended to three-dimensions and for parallel computation. The Hybrid scheme switches dynamically from a WENO-Zscheme to a central scheme at any grid location and time instance if the flow is sufficiently smooth and vice versa if the flow is exhibiting sharp shock-type phenomena. The smoothness of the flow is determined by a high order multi-resolution analysis. The method is tested on a benchmark sonic flow injection in supersonic cross flow. Increase of the order of the method reduces the numerical dissipation of the underlying schemes, which is shown to improve the resolution of small dynamic vortical scales. Shocks are captured sharply in an essentially non-oscillatory manner via the high order shock-capturing WENO-Zscheme. Computations of the injector flow with a WENO-Zscheme only and with the Hybrid scheme are in very close agreement. Thirty percent of grid points require a computationally expensive WENO-Zscheme for high-resolution capturing of shocks, whereas the remainder of grid points may be solved with the computationally more affordable central scheme. The computational cost of the Hybrid scheme can be up to a factor of one and a half lower as compared to computations with a WENO-Zscheme only for the sonic injector benchmark.

Abstract (sommario):
The complexity of power system networks is increasing continuously due to the addition of high capacity transmission lines. Faults on these lines may deteriorate the power flow pattern in the network. This can be avoided by the use of effective protection schemes. This paper presents an algorithm for detecting and classifying faults on the transmission network. Fault detection is achieved by utilizing the fault index, which depends on a combination of characteristics extracted from the current signal by the application of the Stockwell transform and Wigner distribution function (WDF). Various faults are categorized using the quantity of phases with a faulty nature. The fault events like phase to-ground (L-G), two phases (LL), two phases to-ground (LL-G), and three phases to-ground (LLL-G) are investigated in this study. The performance of the algorithm designed for the protection scheme is tested for the variations in the impedance during the fault event, variations in the angle of the fault incidence, different fault locations, the condition of the power flow in the reverse direction, the availability of noise, and the fault on the hybrid line consisting of two sections of underground cable and the overhead line. The algorithm is also analyzed for discriminating switching incidents from fault cases. A comparative study is used to establish the superiority of the proposed technique as compared to the Wavelet transform (WT) based protection scheme. The performance of the protection technique is established in MATLAB/Simulink software using a test network of the transmission line with two terminals.

Abstract (sommario):
Massive growth in global electrical energy demand has necessitated a genuine exploration and integration of solar and wind energy into the electrical power mix. This incorporation goes a long way in improving the cumulative generated power capacity of the power system. However, wind and solar photovoltaic (PV) are intermittent in nature, making the provisioning of a good maximum power tracking (MPPT) scheme necessary. Furthermore, the integration is characterized by synchronization challenges and introduces various modes of power system oscillations as it is converter-driven. This greatly affects the overall stability of the integrated power mix. Consequently, various technological models have been designed to address these challenges ranging from MPPT schemes, phase-lock loop (PLL), virtual synchronous generator (VSG), power system stabilizers (PSS), flexible AC transmission system (FACTS), coordinated control and artificial intelligence (AI). In this work, a multi-machine power system model is reviewed for integration stability studies. Various technical solutions associated with the integration are also reviewed. MPPT, PLL, VSG, PSS, FACTS, coordinated control, and various optimization technique schemes used for damping controller design are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper deals with the study of fractional Kundu-Eckhaus equation (FKEE) and fractional massive Thirring problem (FMTP) that appear in the quantum field theory, weakly nonlinear dispersive water waves, and nonlinear optics. Since the variational iteration method involves integration, the Laplace transform involves convolution theorem in recurrence relation to derive the series solution. To avoid some assumptions and hypothesis, we apply a two-scale approach for such a nonlinear complex model. The fractional differential equation may be transformed into its partner equation using He’s fractional complex transform, and then, the nonlinear elements can be readily handled using the homotopy perturbation method (HPM). Numerical results are derived in a rapid converge series form to improve the accuracy of the scheme greatly. Graphical representations and error distribution show that the two-scale approach is a very convenient tool.

Abstract (sommario):
A hybrid scheme for the numerical solving of a transport equation is implemented. The high order scheme is a modified CIP (Cubic Interpolation Polynomial) scheme with Hermitian interpolation. The third order of approximation of the CIP scheme is achieved by including in the list of unknowns not only the nodal values of the function, but also the nodal values of its derivatives. In the modification under consideration the Euler–Maclaurin formula is used to calculate derivatives. The low order scheme is the characteristic scheme of the first order of approximation. Local, layerwise and global monotonization are considered, the hybridization is performed, respectively, after a cell, a time layer or the whole grid processing. It is shown that the best results are obtained by a scheme with local monotonization. The convergence orders of the hybrid scheme on tests of different smoothness of exact solution do not differ significantly from the convergence orders of the CIP scheme. It is proposed to calculate an integral along a characteristic using the Simpson formula for the Stieltjes integral in the case of the large optical thickness; it provides a significant reduction in the numerical solution errors.

Abstract (sommario):
Hybridizing a lead–acid battery energy storage system (ESS) with supercapacitors is a promising solution to cope with the increased battery degradation in standalone microgrids that suffer from irregular electricity profiles. There are many studies in the literature on such hybrid energy storage systems (HESS), usually examining the various hybridization aspects separately. This paper provides a holistic look at the design of an HESS. A new control scheme is proposed that applies power filtering to smooth out the battery profile, while strictly adhering to the supercapacitors’ voltage limits. A new lead–acid battery model is introduced, which accounts for the combined effects of a microcycle’s depth of discharge (DoD) and battery temperature, usually considered separately in the literature. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis on the thermal parameters and an economic analysis were performed using a 90-day electricity profile from an actual DC microgrid in India to infer the hybridization benefit. The results show that the hybridization is beneficial mainly at poor thermal conditions and highlight the need for a battery degradation model that considers both the DoD effect with microcycle resolution and temperate impact to accurately assess the gain from such a hybridization.

In this paper, we extend the hybridization procedure proposed in [D. N. Arnold and F. Brezzi, Mixed and nonconforming finite element methods: Implementation, postprocessing and error estimates, ESAIM Math. Model. Numer. Anal. 19 (1985) 7–32] to the Virtual Element Method for linear elasticity problems based on the Hellinger–Reissner principle. To illustrate such a technique, we focus on a specific 2D scheme, but other methods and 3D problems can be considered as well. We also show how to design a better approximation of the displacement field using a straightforward post-processing procedure. The numerical experiments confirm the theory for both two and three-dimensional problems.

Abstract (sommario):
In recent years, image watermarking has become the most active research in the information hiding field. This paper presents an application of a computational intelligence technique to obtain robust and secure image-watermarking schemes for data image transmission. The optimization goal is achieved via a new robust method based on the hybridization (in the digital domain) of the image-watermarking scheme using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). The Forensic-Based Investigation (FBI) optimization algorithm is considered to search for the best scaling factor and the appropriate location for the watermark insertion. The Arnold Transform (AT) encryption is also introduced to enhance the watermark image process security. To show the efficiency of the proposed schemes, several watermarked images are subjected to several attacks, and their imperceptibility and robustness are checked via structural similarity index measure (SSIM) and Normalized Correlation Coefficient (NCC) where the proposed schemes provide competitive simulation results. Statistical analysis is also carried out to prove the performance of the used optimization algorithm.

Abstract (sommario):
Maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) is a species characterized by a discontinuous natural range with populations as a rule of small size and growing in heterogeneous environments. Ten provenances belonging to the three biosystematic groups of the species (Atlantic, Mediterranean, and North African) were crossed using a diallel scheme. Parental provenances and their hybrids were tested and measured for height growth at age 1, 2, 3, 8 and 13, as well as for insect resistance and stem crookedness in a trial in southwestern France. The results show a decrease in the variance of heterosis for height growth with age. Heterosis measured as the relative superiority of the hybrid to the midparent varies from -10% to 42% at age 1 and between 2 and 20% at age 13. There is no age effect on the mean value of heterosis, which amounts to 9.7% at age 1 and 8.4% at age 13. The value of heterosis was then compared with the genetic distance of parental provenances measured with various traits and markers (phenotypic traits, terpenes, isozymes, denaturated proteins). There was a weak but significant positive correlation between genetic divergence based on markers and heterosis for height at all ages. These relations were confirmed when the level of heterosis was compared for hybrids clustered according to the subdivision of the species in three major groups. The results are in agreement with theoretical analysis of heterosis and suggest that there is a disequilibrium between loci controlling height growth and neutral loci at the between population level. No significant relationship between levels of heterosis and stem crookedness or insect resistance was detected.

Abstract (sommario):
A novel hybridization scheme is proposed with electromagnetic transduction to improve the power density of piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH) in this paper. Based on the basic cantilever piezoelectric energy harvester (BC-PEH) composed of a mass block, a piezoelectric patch, and a cantilever beam, we replaced the mass block by a magnet array and added a coil array to form the hybrid energy harvester. To enhance the output power of the electromagnetic energy harvester (EMEH), we utilized an alternating magnet array. Then, to compare the power density of the hybrid harvester and BC-PEH, the experiments of output power were conducted. According to the experimental results, the power densities of the hybrid harvester and BC-PEH are, respectively, 3.53 mW/cm3 and 5.14 μW/cm3 under the conditions of 18.6 Hz and 0.3 g. Therefore, the power density of the hybrid harvester is 686 times as high as that of the BC-PEH, which verified the power density improvement of PEH via a hybridization scheme with EMEH. Additionally, the hybrid harvester exhibits better performance for charging capacitors, such as charging a 2.2 mF capacitor to 8 V within 17 s. It is of great significance to further develop self-powered devices.

Abstract (sommario):
The Method of Auxiliary Sources (MAS) is an established technique for the numerical solution of electromagnetic (EM) scattering and radiation problems. This paper presents a hybrid of MAS with the Fast Multipole Method (FMM), which provides a strategy for reducing the computational cost and for solving large-scale problems without notable accuracy loss (and in a reasonable time). The hybrid MAS-FMM scheme is applied to the problem of EM scattering from an arbitrarily large array of lossless/lossy dielectric cylinders. Numerical results are presented to verify the MAS and MAS-FMM schemes, as well as to illuminate the improvements stemming from the proposed hybridization (especially the ones regarding the associated complexity and computational cost). A few concluding remarks offer a summary of this work, along with a list of possible future extensions.

Abstract (sommario):
. Electric energy storage systems are widely used in electric transport, power engineering and in order to provide autonomous power supply and load regulation of power systems. One of the ways to increase the technical and economic efficiency of storage devices is their hybridization, i. e. the creation of storage devices consisting of blocks of different types of batteries. The special literature contains no systematic analysis of qualitative and quantitative effects of hybridization and corresponding methodological recommendations for choosing a scheme and evaluating the effectiveness of hybridization. In the present article, this issue is considered from a theoretical and methodological standpoint, recommendations are given for the design of storage devices serving solar or low-power wind farms. A brief overview of data on the cost of buffering electricity with lithium-ion, lead-acid batteries and supercapacitors is made. A method is proposed for determining the necessity and degree of hybridization of an energy storage device based on the simplest dependencies of the storage parameters on the degree of hybridization. The notions of the coefficient of synergetic effect of hybridization and the degree of internal buffering of electricity are introduced. A quantitative-and-qualitative model for evaluating the effectiveness of hybridization is presented. A methodological approach is proposed for calculating the degree of internal recovery and evaluating the coefficient of synergetic effect of hybridization. It is shown that, in general, the adding of supercapacitor unit to lithium-ion batteries a does not lead to a reduction in the cost of buffering electricity due to the high ratio of the cost of buffering with a supercapacitor to the cost of buffering with lithium-ion batteries. At the same time, the economic feasibility of using supercapacitors to compensate for high pulse loads can be determined on basis of the analysis of the frequency spectrum of the load graph of the storage unit. The developed models and approaches can be used in the design of electrochemical energy storage systems for specified operating conditions.

Abstract (sommario):
The issue of parametric estimation in time delay models is the main topic of this research article. Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) Continuous-Time (CT) systems with numerous unknown time delays characterize these models. Two different recursive parametric estimate techniques are explored in this paper, the strategic application of Sequential Nonlinear Least Squares (SNLS) to attain global convergence and the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) technique in conjunction with the Gauss-Newton algorithm with the goal of achieving local optimization. Both approaches contribute to the comprehensive understanding of the parametric estimation landscape for time delay models. In a pivotal stride towards enhancing convergence, the research proposes a hybridization of the two methods. This synergistic approach is designed to leverage the strengths of both SNLS and the RLS-Gauss-Newton combination, fostering improved overall convergence properties. To substantiate the credibility and effectiveness of the proposed methodologies, the conducted research provides comprehensive simulation results. These simulations offer concrete examples of the efficacy and practicality of the suggested techniques in real-world situations, and they make significant contributions to the field of parametric estimation for time delay models.

Abstract (sommario):
Recent developments in DNA microarray technology have enabled a new and highly effective platform for performing comparative genomic hybridization (CGH) measurements. CGH measures anomalies in DNA copy number. Such copy number changes are now thought to play an important role in a number of diseases, particularly cancer and developmental disorders, and may also lead to important insights relevant to personalized treatments of such diseases. In contrast to gene expression measurements, the genomic positions of probe targets and their correlation to genomic aberrations lead to a natural ordering of the data. This ordering can be leveraged in data visualizations of CGH measurements. This paper describes a research prototype we have named VistaChrom, which provides a highly interactive, exploratory visualization scheme for analyzing array-based CGH data. For efficient navigation, VistaChrom is based on tiled, multi-level coordinated views organized by genome, chromosome, gene and microarray probe. Raw probe data, moving averages, and statistical measures can all be displayed individually or simultaneously to aid visual discovery of significant genomic aberrations. Visual analysis can be performed with single arrays or multi-array studies. The result is a novel and effective environment for visually analyzing CGH data. Example visualization results are shown for two different data sets derived from tumor cell lines. The application also provides a framework for further exploring advanced computational methods for aberration analysis.

Abstract (sommario):
The present paper describes a hybrid self-adaptive learning global search algorithm and firefly algorithm (HSLGSAFA)-based model for task scheduling in cloud computing. The proposed hybrid model combines gravitational search algorithm (GSA), which has been successfully scheduling the task in the application, with the use of SL strategy and the FA. The basic scheme of our approach is to utilize the benefits of both SLGSA algorithm and firefly algorithm and not including their disadvantages. In HSLGSAFA, each dimension of a solution represents a task and a solution as a whole signifies all tasks’ priorities. The vital issue is how to allocate users’ tasks to exploit the income of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider while promising Quality-of-Service (QoS). The generated solution is proficient to assure user-level QoS and improve IaaS providers’ credibility and economic benefit. The HSLGSAFA method also used to design the hybridization process and suitable fitness function of the corresponding task. According to the evolved results, it has been found that our algorithm always outperforms the traditional algorithms.

Abstract (sommario):
Hybrid computational intelligence is defined as a combination of multiple intelligent algorithms such that the resulting model has superior performance to the individual algorithms. Therefore, the importance of fusing two or more intelligent algorithms to achieve better performance cannot be overemphasized. In this work, a novel homogenous hybridization scheme is proposed for the improvement of the generalization and predictive ability of support vector machines regression (SVR). The proposed and developed hybrid SVR (HSVR) works by considering the initial SVR prediction as a feature extraction process and then employs the SVR output, which is the extracted feature, as its sole descriptor. The developed hybrid model is applied to the prediction of reservoir permeability and the predicted permeability is compared to core permeability which is regarded as standard in petroleum industry. The results show that the proposed hybrid scheme (HSVR) performed better than the existing SVR in both generalization and prediction ability. The outcome of this research will assist petroleum engineers to effectively predict permeability of carbonate reservoirs with higher degree of accuracy and will invariably lead to better reservoir. Furthermore, the encouraging performance of this hybrid will serve as impetus for further exploring homogenous hybrid system.

Cuprate superconductivity gaps are investigated applying the interband pairing scheme to the itinerant band and a defect "band" which is created by hole doping. A pseudogap is naturally present in this model at underdoping. Vibronic hybridization of bands renormalizes the pseudogap and two superconductivity gaps. Now two pseudogaps of electronic and vibronic origin are present in the underdoped normal state as recently observed. Entering the optimally doped region (overlapping bands) there appears a joint normal state pseudogap of vibronic origin.

Abstract (sommario):
For the detection of DNA hybridization, there are two main challenges that current research aims to overcome: lower detection limits and higher selectivity. We describe here the development of an electrochemical biosensor that used redox-active intercalators to transduce DNA hybridization by long-range electron transfer through DNA duplexes. This study outlines how the sensitivity and selectivity of the biosensor was tuned by careful control of the surface chemistry of the DNA-modified interface. The DNA-modified interface is composed of thiolated DNA and a diluent component, both of which are self-assembled onto a gold electrode. The resultant DNA biosensor has excellent selectivity towards single-base mismatch detection, whilst both the detection limit and sensitivity can easily be adjusted by varying the length of the diluent molecule relative to the length of the thiol linker at the 3´ end of the DNA. The one limitation of such a detection scheme is the slow assay time, which is a consequence of the slow kinetics of intercalation of the redox molecule into the duplexes. Approaches to reducing the assay time to a more commercially viable timescale are outlined.

Abstract (sommario):
The ability to both sensitively and specifically assess the sequence composition of a nucleic acid strand is an ever-growing field. Designing a detection scheme that can perform this function when the sequence of the target being detected deviates significantly from the canonical sequence however is difficult in part because probe/primer design is based on established Watson-Crick base-pairing rules. We present here a robust and tunable toehold-based exchange probe that can detect a sequence with a variable number of SNPs of unknown identity by inserting a series of controlled, sequential mismatches into the protector seal of the toehold probe, in an effort to make the protector seal “sloppy”. We show that the mismatch-tolerant system follows predicted behavior closely even with targets containing up to four mismatches that thermodynamically deviate from the canonical sequence by up to 15 kcal/mole. The system also performs faithfully regardless of the global mismatch position on either the protector seal or target. Lastly, we demonstrate the generalizability of the approach by testing the increasingly mismatch-tolerant protectors on HIV clinical samples to show that the system is capable of resolving multiple, iteratively mutated sequences derived from numerous HIV sub-populations with remarkable precision.
