Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Rural tourism (agrotourism) in the world practice is a promising sector of the tourism industry, focused on the use of various resources of the rural area and its features to create a comprehensive tourist product. In Russia, such an understanding of agro-tourism has come in recent years, and the growing interest is confirmed by the interest not only of business representatives, but also of state authorities. The national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” will become an impetus for the development of domestic tourism and increase the competition of regions and territories in this area. The Orel region is fully involved in the development of agro-tourism. The region has a significant tourist and recreational potential for the development of rural (agricultural) tourism. The agro-industrial complex of the Orel region is the leading system-forming spheres of the region’s economy. Regional authorities actively support private businesses involved in the implementation of state programs in the field of rural tourism: “Development of investment and project activities in the Orel region” and “Development and support of small and medium-sized businesses in the Orel region”.

Abstract (sommario):
Recent studies highlight the need for a deeper understanding of the ways in which information systems, local government policy and community involvement affect the development of rural tourism. By using Structural Equation Modelling and Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), the current study aims to analyze the role of information systems, local government policy and local community engagement in rural tourism development. Using data from 69 participants in Watesjaya village, Bogor regency, the study analyzes multiple relationships among latent constructs. The data, encompassing variables such as system quality, information quality, local government policy, local community engagement, destination branding, and rural tourism development, undergoes meticulous reliability and validity assessments. Results from the SEM-PLS analysis unveil significant relationships and insights. Local community engagement emerges as a pivotal factor, positively influencing tourist satisfaction (0.499) and moderately affecting destination branding (0.239). However, local government policy exhibits a less pronounced positive impact on tourist satisfaction (0.069847) and a notable negative influence on destination branding (-0.300460), underscoring the need for policy realignment. Information quality paradoxically influences tourist satisfaction negatively (-0.185) and destination branding (-0.158), highlighting areas for strategic improvement. Meanwhile, information system quality positively affects tourist satisfaction (0.055) and significantly contributes to rural tourism development (0.783). This study provides a better understanding of stakeholders about rural tourism development by focusing on information system quality, information quality, local government policies, and local community engagement The study indicates that information system quality and local community engagement can be valuable indicators for boosting rural tourism development and improving tourist satisfaction.

Abstract (sommario):
The tourist itinerary concept refers to initiatives combining activities/attractions under a theme and stimulating business opportunities by developing products and services, in accordance with the cultural context and the interaction with the territory. Rural Development Policy serves as example. While not intended to promote tourism directly, it encourages the creation/rediscovery of tourist itineraries, including those that are food-related. We undertook a case study in northeastern Italy. Using a mixed research method, we aimed to appreciate the role played, within the EU Rural Development Programme of the Veneto region, by tourism and the tourist itinerary as a tool for territorial and traditional foods valorisation. Our first objective was to identify the correlations between the choice of certain types of tourism interventions and the territorial characterization by tourism. Through a correspondence statistical analysis, two analyses on the funding beneficiaries were carried out in particular on the period 2014–2020, depending on whether the issuing organization was the Veneto Region or a Local Action Group. The types of intervention on information and infrastructures for tourism, as well as on the redevelopment of cultural heritage, emerged of interest, in particular to public entities. Focusing on the LEADER areas, we examined, through semi-structured interviews, critical issues associated with the implementation of the Policy to grasp the degree of incisiveness of the examined Measures which place the tourist itinerary at the centre of the rural development. Our work shows that in the territories analysed, tourism is a driving force. There emerges, though, a need to refocus the Measures. This is to ensure that their effects are more durable, that eligible actors are more involved, and that there is less strategic redundancy in relation to other policies.

Abstract (sommario):
This research studies the rural development public policy and the rural tourism activity in Rosana and Presidente Epitácio municipalities in São Paulo State/Brazil and Santiago de Compostela and Padrón municipalities in Galicia/Spain. Thus, the general objective is to analyze the tourism territorialization process in rural areas and compare public policies for rural development based on case studies in the Pontal do Paranapanema region in the State of São Paulo and the Autonomous Community of Galicia/SP. The methodological procedures used comparative analysis, highlighting the experience of two Spanish municipalities, Santiago de Compostela and Padrón, to draw similarities and differences with the Brazilian cases. The main results obtained in Brazil derived from the actions of the National Program for the Strengthening of Family Agriculture (PRONAF). The research in Santiago de Compostela and Padrón identified the presence of rural tourism houses, which were restored through subsidies from European Union rural development policies. Keywords: Tourism in the Countryside. Local Development Public Policy.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural tourism is the focus of major international scholarship. This paper contributes to policy debates about rural tourism in the Global South using the example of South Africa. Specifically, it points to a need for rethinking of rural tourism spaces for policy development in South Africa. Arguably, ‘rural spaces’ cannot be viewed homogeneously simply as places outside of cities; instead rural tourism spaces must be unpacked and differentiated. The South African case is of special interest in Global South scholarship because national government launched initiatives to prepare an appropriate rural tourism policy. It is argued that a spatially differentiated approach to rural tourism policy is useful and recommends as a starting point drawing upon best practice international research which identifies (at least) three different categories of rural space, namely fringe, exotic/remote and in-between rural spaces. Insight is provided of two examples of ‘in-between’ rural spaces in South Africa, namely Greater Giyani Local Municipality in Limpopo and Raymond Mhlaba Local Municipality in Eastern Cape.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural tourism in foreign countries stably occupies a leading position in tourism industry. As practice shows, its establishment was accompanied by significant participation of the state in terms of the development of different measures and programs for supporting and promotion. The author has generalized foreign experience of such participation. This allowed distinguishing by criterion of the intensity of the efforts of state authorities aimed at the formation and development of the tourism industry in rural areas three types of state policy of development of rural tourism: active, passive and moderate. The article shows the features of these approaches in the formation of the base of strategic documents. As it can be seen from the materials of the article, along with the strategy and programs of development of rural tourism the special legal framework of rural tourism is formed. It is a part of an active state policy and regulates certain aspects, such as taxation, quality of service, etc. Moderate public policy of development of rural tourism is limited to the basic strategic documents, as well as individual measures of interagency cooperation and coordination of the instruments. Passive type of public policy in rural tourism is not systematic and consistent and is characterized by using of separate measures aimed at the development of rural tourism. The article shows the areas and peculiarities of building of interagency cooperation in the development of strategic decisions about the development of rural tourism in the framework of these public policy types. The differences in the coordination of the instruments of public policy of development of rural tourism at all levels of regulation are justified. Various intensities of cross-sectoral integration processes in the development of rural areas correspond to certain types of public policy in rural tourism.

Abstract (sommario):
The article considers the development of agritourism complexes of Ukraine during the last decade and the vectors of their further development. Factors of attractiveness of rural green tourism for urban residents have been identified. The peculiarities of recreation in the countryside have been clarified, namely: attractive time for recreation – summer vacations of tourists; acquaintance with the ethnicity and authenticity of the Ukrainian area; the compliance of the quality of services provided by agritourism farmsteads with the expectations of tourists. The motives for the creation of rural estates and the uniqueness of rural tourism are specified. In particular, the safety, environmental friendliness and accessibility of recreation in agritourism farmsteads are highlighted. The constraints on the development of green tourism are also the lack of funds to improve living conditions, rural infrastructure and the lack of clear legal support for the existence of this type of tourism, in particular the private sector, whose share in housing services is dominant. The gradual development of rural green tourism is demonstrated by expanding the scope of its services and improving their quality. Effective tools for promoting the tourist product in the countryside are public policy expressed in support of owners of agritourism farmsteads and «Strategy for tourism and resorts until 2026», implementation of effective communication policy with consumers of tourist services, and categorization and certification of rural farmsteads tourists (appropriate quality and environmental friendliness of the tourist product). The forecast of the number of rural estates by 2025 has been made. The importance of agritourism services is emphasized not only in the domestic market, but also in the international one. Attention is paid to the current situation in Ukraine, and not only the catastrophic consequences for the tourism industry, but also the prospects for the development of agritourism in the perspective of a full-scale Russian invasion.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Tourism in rural areas has been defined as all tourist activities conducted in rural areas. The development of tourism in rural areas is dependent on external factors (e.g. landscape attractiveness), as well as internal factors (e.g. involvement of local authorities and society). Hence, it is important to increase the tourism potential for further increase of local tourism, and in turn to intensify the social-economic development according to a sustainable policy and multifunctional rural development. The main aim of the present study was to indicate possibilities to improve tourism management of the Zbąszyń urban-rural commune. For this purpose the following detailed aims were set: to evaluate local society satisfaction with tourism development in Zbąszyń commune, to evaluate the natural-landscape state of the analyzed area, to designate a new tourist trail or to revise the existing trails, and to propose modernization of existing tourism infrastructure. The obtained results revealed that in the opinion of local society there is still not sufficient tourism development despite some natural-landscape values. Hence, activities connected with tourism enrichment should be mainly connected with designation of two new cycling trails and supplementation of tourist information signs and tables. All proposed activities leading to an increase of tourism potential should bear in mind social aspects as well as natural values and would have a positive effect on economic income of the area.

Abstract (sommario):
Current geopolitical changes and trends in socio-economic development increase the importance and prospects of development of domestic tourism. Emerging opportunities are significant not only for well-known destinations and tourist products, but also for tourism products and routes that by their attractiveness is competitive with the objects of mass tourism demand. Considering the possibilities of development of weekend tourism, flashpacker and trailering, can be concluded that the sector of rural tourism in all its diversity, can attract a significant part of the tourist flow. At present, rural tourism is not a mass leisure activity. Researches of needs and interests of tourists are known. However, there are no researches revealing assessment of the prospects of existing or potential rural tourism projects. With that, it should be emphasized that they are not only important for investors or business leaders, but also for tourism administrations as a tool to identify barriers or areas of support of rural tourism projects. Rural tourism - one of the most famous and popular forms of recreation. Many experts note its ability to compete with the leaders of the global tourism - beach and cultural tourism. Stavropol Krai of the Russian Federation is region with high level of agricultural development and rich touristic and recreational potential. Development of private sector in agriculture industry, aspiration of small and large private companies to diversify their activities by expanding non-agricultural segment caused the formation and development of rural tourism. Variety of tourism resources and cultural heritage of Stavropol region allowed entrepreneurs to create different tourist products in the segment of rural recreation. In the current context the formation of rural tourism industry in the Stavropol region is the rightful issue. The author has conducted marketing research to study the attitude of agriculture entities in Stavropol region to engaging in tourist activities. The data obtained show the positive attitude of agriculture entities of the region to the tourist activity. However, more than 89% of respondents consider it necessary to develop a state policy in the field of rural tourism at the federal and regional levels.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Indonesia is rich of nature, culture, customs, culinary, and religions spread over many regions. The majority of Indonesia territory is rural areas. The existing potentials and attractions in rural areas make a lot of villages developed into tourist villages. One region that has quite a high number of tourist villages is Semarang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The high number of tourist villages that belongs to Semarang Regency is actually not in line with the high length of stay of the visiting tourists. Therefore, it requires the right method to develop the rural tourism potential, which is cluster-based rural tourism development. The purpose of this research is to develop a methodology for identifying the potential area of rural tourism clusters in geographic feature. The method used is Geographic Information System (GIS) based Kernel Density Estimation (KDE). The analysis brings to a map that identifies regions with strong cluster potential to develop the informative rural tourism. The map generated clearly indicates that the regions with strong potentials to become tourist village cluster in Semarang Regency are the combined cluster areas of Ungaran and Bergas District and Sumowono District. Hopefully the generated map will be informative for the stakeholders, the policy makers, and the tourism development area organizers.

Abstract (sommario):
In rural environments of various nations in the Americas, such as Ecuador, in recent decades the emergence of entrepreneurship initiatives linked to the tourism sector has been seen, many of them aligned with the philosophy of rural and community tourism. An example is the tourist experience offered by the Afrochoteño Territory, in the northern Andes of the country. In this region, the communities of El Chota, Juncal, Mascarilla and Salinas have ventured for about two decades in the provision of tourism services of this type. The objective is to demonstrate the impact of the tourism sectoral public policy on the tourist experience in the Afro-Chotan territory. This is how, after the combination of secondary information review techniques, in contrast to the collection of field data that involves various actors in the Afro-Colombian tourist experience, the result was that they remain valid despite the significant gap in implementation. of public policy in favor of these initiatives.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper presents findings relating to the territorial processes underlying the distribution and location of P2P accommodation in rural parts of Catalonia by establishing a system for classifying rural municipalities based on the volume and growth rate of the supply of this tourist accommodation, its share of the total supply of tourist accommodation, the pressure on the local population, and the function of this supply of accommodation in the regional tourism context. According to the findings, there are three distinct types of rural municipality: (a) Rural municipalities where the volume and growth of the supply of this accommodation are striking, these municipalities are located in the coastal hinterland and in high mountain areas, both of which enjoy high levels of tourism. This supply of accommodation plays a key role in the expansion of the areas of influence of well-established tourist destinations, (b) rural municipalities where this supply of accommodation presents an average volume and growth rate, located in inland areas of Catalonia and in high mountain regions with non-mass tourism development models specializing in rural tourism. This supply is helping boost tourism by expanding and diversifying the range of accommodation, and (c) rural municipalities where no tourist accommodation was available before the arrival of P2P accommodation. These are municipalities in inland areas with a strong agricultural presence, where P2P accommodation is paving the way for tourism.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural tourism is considered a high potential form of tourism, enhanced by the demand for more sustainable and nature-based solutions, and able to contribute to territory resilience. A rural area is not necessarily a tourist destination, but it might become one, if agricultural enterprises are willing to diversify their economic activities by investing in rural tourism, and local actors provide active support and co-participation. This research focuses on the development of rural tourism in hinterland, mountainous, and hilly areas of the province of Savona in Liguria (North-West of Italy) in order to gather the farmers’ perspectives about local rural tourism destination development. Liguria is known above all as a seaside tourist destination. In recent years, policy makers have initiated a debate with local actors to relaunch Ligurian tourism by trying to develop alternative forms of tourism, such as rural tourism. A sample of 32 farmers already proposing rural tourism activities such as agritourism were involved in a mixed methodological approach aimed at validating local interest toward rural tourism and collecting information for designing future local development policies. At first, a questionnaire set up by a panel of experts was carried out, followed by one-to-one semi-structured interviews, and finally the Nominal Group Technique (NGT) was used to identify local priorities, strategies, and tools. The results highlight the willingness of farmers to invest in the rural tourism sector, the presence of heterogeneous interests, and the complexity of management of the relationship among the various stakeholders. Findings are partially explained by the early stage of development of rural tourism in the analyzed area, a phase in which starting a constructive dialogue on objective and project ideas among all stakeholders seems to be a crucial priority among the farmers taking part in the study.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural tourism has been seen during the last decades as a means for economic development of sensitive localities, especially in rural areas. However, little research has been conducted on the sustainability of the development induced by tourism activities in rural areas, and even so, with contradictory results. Our paper investigated how tourism impacted on the sustainable development of rural localities, focusing on three composite indexes: demographic stability, public utilities, and socio-economic sustainability. Mann–Whitney U test was used to determine the differences on each of the above-mentioned indexes between the rural localities with tourist arrivals and those without. The results showed that there is a significant positive effect of tourism on rural areas translated into higher values of all the indexes analyzed. This study brings valuable contributions to both academics and policy-makers: on one hand, it provides new insights into the impact of tourism activities; on the other hand, it offers valuable information to decisional actors regarding development strategies.

Abstract (sommario):
Ukrainian tourism, particularly rural, faces various challenges related to the ongoing war, consequences of aggression against the country, and simultaneous developments of approximation of the country's policy course to the vectors of the European Union. Tourism is primarily the competence of the EU member states. However, to meet the competition, Ukraine -on the way to European integration - should prioritize digital and green transformation in unity with the guidelines for the resilience and sustainability of destinations. Among policy vectors, there is a need to improve legal mechanisms (also enabling the appropriate monitoring and data collection), introduce the industrial ecosystem approach and shift from market to destination model, and follow the initial steps in synergy between rural tourism and agriculture, focuses on community-oriented tourism, and innovations, including digitalization, involvement in international networks (Slow Food, Zero Waste, Climate Friendly Travel, Best Tourism Villages by UN Tourism, etc. The practices already developed in the EU will overtake the partly "limited by circumstances" understanding of the role of rural areas and the potential of their use in Ukrainian practice. Without proper familiarization and correlation with the EU in policy-making and designing the tools and mechanisms of its implementation, the competitive advantages will suffer now and in the future.

Abstract (sommario):
Under the background of the implementation of Rural Revitalization Strategy, rural tourism has become another important way to drive rural development and realize rural revitalization after the mechanized operation mode. Relying on the characteristics of rural resources, rural tourism gives full play to its role. Aiming at the problems of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, it optimizes the resource allocation structure in rural areas, coordinates the industrial development, and constructs the characteristic rural tourism mode to meet the spiritual needs of contemporary people. With the development of new rural tourism mode relying on agricultural resources, such as research base, agricultural industrial park, characteristic towns and so on, more and more people love rural tourism. The development of rural tourism injects new vitality into rural areas, promotes the growth of rural regional economy, effectively increases farmers’ employment, promotes industrial integration, and is conducive to solving the “three rural” problems, reducing poverty, and promoting the construction of a well-off society.

Abstract (sommario):
The article is aimed at highlighting the theoretical foundations of state regulation of rural green tourism in Ukraine. Tourism is increasingly playing the role of an indicator of political relations between the states, a stabilizer of partner relations in the international political arena. Therefore, considering the great importance of tourism, the state has identified it as one of the priority directions of development of the national economy and culture, the sphere of realization of rights and needs of man and society, one of the defining components of the socio-economic policy of the state and regions. Today in Ukraine there are a number of problems that do not contribute to the development of the tourist industry, leading to a significant destruction of economic and social relations in the tourism sector. This article reveals the concept of "rural green tourism", as well as the significance of its development for the country's economy. The characteristic of the concept of "state regulation of rural green tourism" is given, and the system of methods of regulation is described. The necessity of marketing research as one of ways to improve the system of management of the rural tourism sector is presented. Formulated conclusions that include ways to develop and improve the state regulation of rural green tourism in Ukraine.

Abstract (sommario):
The classical distinction between countries of tourist offer and countries of tourist demand has already been surpassed considering that many countries of tourist demand (USA, Germany, Great Britain ?) earn much more from tourism than the countries of tourist offer (Italy, Greece, Portugal ?). The changes in customers' behaviour are reflected through restructuring of tourist movements towards new destinations. What is essential in creating, promoting and marketing tourist destinations for the specific tourism forms development is the identification of all the positive and negative factors that influence the development of these destinations. Converting a potential into a tourist destination depends on many factors both in qualitative and in quantitative sense. Discovering an area of preserved environment that also possesses attractive motifs presents the beginning of the possible tourist destination creating. Further 'destiny' of a tourist destination depends on its planning and development intensity. Rural tourism is a significant component of integral and sustainable development and revitalization of the village, as well as a component that is missing in stimulating the local market development for agricultural and non-agricultural activities in the country, along with a special stimulation to employment. Serbia possesses remarkable natural resources and other potentials for the development of all forms of rural tourism. However, rural tourism in Serbia is an insufficiently organized field that is not being developed adequately to the possibilities available to it. That is why this paper wants to point out the potential opportunities for the development of rural tourism in Serbia through sustainable development and correct performance policy on both national and international tourist market.

Abstract (sommario):
The current research was motivated by observed particularities of local communities and the necessity of local rural economy diversification. Development through rural tourism is a possible sustainable response that can be implemented in many of Europe’s rural areas, including Marginimea Sibiului. Thus, the purpose of this research, and its main contribution, was to identify the specific features of the Marginimea Sibiului area and possible strategies for capitalizing on local resources through rural tourism activities. We also sought to understand the extent to which rural tourism is seen by the owners of tourist structures as a developmental possibility. We utilized a case study research method to address these questions. The research has major implications due to the questionnaires applied to the owners of rural tourism structures during August 2022, which allowed us to determine: the motivation of tourist structure owners to carry out tourism activity, the degree of development, aspects concerning the operation and management of the tourist structure, and future development and improvement of the owned products. Because the area is representative at the national level in terms of rural tourism activity, an X-ray was sketched after the conclusions were drawn, which issued some proposals for “mixing” the resources through rural tourist activities as a “presentation modality”, which may potentially have favorable future consequences.

Abstract (sommario):
"The trend of rural tourism is growing and is becoming increasingly significant for most nations. Rural tourism is believed to have the potential to revive traditional approaches and perspectives on tourism and provide new dimensions to sustainable growth. Romania is regarded as one of the main destinations with a high potential in sustainable tourism development, due to its beautiful, unspoiled rural landscapes, traditions, and rustic lifestyle. Tourism, as a development tool, in rural communities, is one of the major concerns. The scarcity of case studies on rural tourist competitiveness, particularly in Romania, is what inspired the current research. This study attempts to investigate the factors that impact Romania’s rural tourism’s competitiveness and develop a conceptual framework for measuring it. In conducting our research, there were employed both exploratory and descriptive approaches. Secondary data from statistical and published research and studies were gathered, and it were collected primary data through surveys and personal interviews. The objective of the current research was to introduce a distinct and exclusive method of evaluating tourism in rather small regions with unique characteristics and applied and test the proposed model to Maramures region. The paper concludes that measuring and understanding rural tourism competitiveness and dynamics is essential for supporting sustainable development in rural areas, and it is of great importance for practitioners, policy makers and researchers. Keywords: tourism competitiveness, rural destination competitiveness model, rural tourism, rural destinations JEL classification: L83, M31."

Abstract (sommario):
The elements which determine a peripheral area’s level of tourist attractiveness, such as tourist infrastructure and tourist values, should be developed in urban–rural communes in peripheral areas, where tourism may be one of the forces capable of stimulating sustainable development. This study covered urban–rural communes of the province of Warmia and Mazury in Poland. Urban–rural communes are specific areas where urban–rural linkages are often important. The research was carried out in accordance with Hellwig’s taxonomic development pattern method. The study found no complementary relationship between tourism values and tourism infrastructure with regards to creating tourism attractiveness. Tourism attractiveness was found to be more affected by tourism infrastructure. However, in units with larger urban centers, tourist values were found to significantly contribute to tourist attractiveness. The presented results provide a good basis for further research on the impact of global trends on regional development. At the same time, the analyzed framework provides guidance for ensuring the development of local tourism, and the study’s suggested priorities and measures could lead to the development of tourism in peripheral regions, which should in turn attract new investments, create new jobs, and thus develop the economy and the welfare of the population.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural areas and peripheral borderland territories are experiencing socio-economic marginalization featuring depopulation, population aging, and an increasing inequality gap in the quality of life compared to cities. Integrated rural tourism is argued to be ideal for supporting the well-being of rural communities, providing an additional income, decreasing unemployment, offering new and appealing jobs out of traditional rural activities, while preserving the conventional lifestyle. In this study, we discovered the tourism capacity of rural borderland territories affected by cross-border tourism using the data on the geography of cross-border movements, the distribution of tourist sights, and the density of tourist accommodation facilities. The geographical scope of the study covered two cross-border coastal regions—the Russian–Polish region on the Baltic Sea and the Russian–Kazakh region on the Caspian Sea. The statistical and geoinformation analysis were used to allocate areas of prospecting rural tourism integrated with cross-border movement. The research results on the development and distribution of tourist infrastructure suggest that: the rural territories of these regions feature tourist attractions and accommodation facilities at a different level of density and remoteness from the border crossing; each cross-border region is featuring different types of travel restrictions for tourists; and both border-land territories show asymmetry by the more active Russian tourists traveling abroad. Each of the regions under consideration is attractive for cross-border tourism while having different degrees of penetration of tourist flows into the interior territories and coverage of rural areas. The study resulted in a tourist flow model that allows integrating rural areas.

Abstract (sommario):
This study explores the spatiotemporal characteristics and driving factors of land use for rural tourism in areas that eliminated poverty from 2009 to 2021. It puts forward targeted governance measures to promote the high-quality development of rural tourism, poverty alleviation, and rural revitalization. The analysis is based on exploratory spatial analysis methods and geographical detectors. The results show that (1) the overall level of land use for rural tourism was low but grew very quickly with large regional differences. (2) There was a significant spatial agglomeration in land use for rural tourism land. The spatial distribution of land use for rural tourism landscapes was characterized by two cores and four clusters, while spatial distribution of rural tourism facilities was characterized by one cluster with multiple branches. (3) The driving factors of spatial variations in land use for rural tourism were diverse and dynamic. Dominant factors shifted from natural conditions and geographical location to socioeconomic and tourism resources and regional policy dimensions. Policy should emphasize the development of the rural tourism industry, innovate the diversified “tourism + development” model, enhance the level of land use for rural tourism, broaden avenues for farmers to increase their income, and strengthen residents’ motivation for development.

Abstract (sommario):
In our days consumers are interested and visibly reoriented towards natural/local/organic products. Starting from this specificity, the development of rural tourism can come as a possible sustainable response to be implemented in many of the rural areas, such an example being the Moieciu area subject to our analysis. The main objective of this paper is to achieve an analysis of rural tourism activity’s development stage from Moieciu area, from the tourist’s perspective, using case study method and as “main tool of research” the questionnaire. Thus, several research-oriented goals followed are: establishing the arguments for practicing tourism in rural areas; describing the development of Bran-Moieciu area from economic, agricultural and tourist point of view; identifying the reasons for which Moieciu area is a place where tourism can ensure sustainable development. The measure of appreciation of this area by the tourist is analyzed through a face-to-face questionnaire, having as purpose to identify: the capitalization level of local resources through rural tourism activities; the extent to which local resources are present in the product consumed by tourists; the satisfaction degree and expectations regarding the tourist product; the connection between tourism and area development in terms of satisfaction. Based on the information obtained some proposals/possible directions will be proposed to transform the area into “a possible model of sustainable rural tourism development”.

Abstract (sommario):
The article reflects the main statistical aspects characterizing the state of the modern market economy and the tourist industry. The dynamics of tourism development in Russia is analyzed, the potential of which is revealed on the example of the Republic of Tatarstan. The place of rural tourism in the development of rural areas is promoted, which contributes to the improvement of accomplishment of settlements, the development of engineering and social infrastructure; creation of new jobs; reduction of the level of unemployment in rural areas, growth of incomes of rural residents, development of small business, as well as increasing the ecological attractiveness of rural areas; increase the cultural and cognitive level of the rural population; replenishment of local budgets with additional funds. The problems of organization and cooperation in rural tourism have been identified, which impede the effective use of the tourist destination space. The most acute of them are: the underestimation of the importance of rural tourism in solving a number of national and regional problems, such as the preservation of small settlements, the cultural and historical heritage of the territories, rural life, increasing incomes, improving the living conditions of the rural population, streamlining the use of natural objects ; the absence of a national concept and a well-defined national policy for the development of rural tourism; acute shortage of financial and credit resources, difficulties in obtaining land for these purposes; inadequate degree of regulation of issues of interaction between hosts of guest houses with state, controlling, tax authorities.

Abstract (sommario):
This study explores the potential of rural tourism in the context of sustainable societal development. The demand for tourism services in the post-COVID-19 period is analyzed, as is the trend of travelers’ ability to pay for tourism services and the spectrum of tourism offerings. The objectives and directions of investment programs aimed at developing rural tourism and the issues associated with its development are identified. For 59% of European countries, rural tourism is a direct priority in their development, and 66% of European countries have state investment programs for rural tourism. The research results showed an increase in the level of travel by tourists in the post-COVID-19 period, characterized by a desire for lower costs when consuming relevant services. It has been revealed that the policy directions of countries regarding the development of rural tourism can be direct or indirect as part of the overall tourism development policy. Rural tourism offerings have several drawbacks that have led to dissatisfaction with demand, and as a result, most travelers have a desire to receive rural tourism services but do not utilize them due to the aforementioned reasons. The study forms the structure of rural tourism services based on the examples within the European Federation of Rural Tourism Offerings and potential directions and strategies for their further development.

Abstract (sommario):
Although rural tourism enterprises have played crucial roles in the prosperity of tourist destinations, environmental contamination due to corporate behaviour is also an important issue to consider. In this study, we introduce corporate community involvement theory to explore the antecedents and contingency effects of corporate green behaviour for tourist destination sustainability from the perspective of tourism corporate social responsibility. Using first-hand survey data collected in Guangdong and Anhui provinces, and matching second-hand data from the statistical yearbook and tourist destination government work reports, we found that corporate community involvement has a positive impact on the green behaviour of rural tourism enterprises. This association is moderated by place identity and the gross tourism receipts of destinations. By doing so, this research extends the scope of tourism environmental governance from ‘the bottom’ (for tourists) to ‘the top’ (for tourism enterprises). Meanwhile, this research provides feasible advice to policymakers by highlighting the coordination value of enterprises’ initiative strategies (e.g., corporate community involvement) and destination contingency.

Abstract (sommario):
Rural tourism in developing countries has been regarded as a means for rural development, environment conservation and poverty alleviation. This study aims to examine the determining factors for rural households’ willingness to participate in rural tourism in western areas under the context of China’s rural revitalization strategy. Based on survey data from 22 tourism poverty alleviation villages located in the poor areas of western China, we characterize our results by stating that rural households’ livelihood resilience “push” on their willingness to participate, and that poverty alleviation policy perception and involvement “pull” on it. Among distinct livelihood adaptive strategy groups, i.e., farming-oriented households, migratory-oriented households and tourism-participating households, this study also revealed that buffer capacity was a significant driving force for the three types of household’s willingness. Positive poverty alleviation policy perception could attract migratory households to return to their hometowns to start tourism businesses; however, better self-organizing capacity decreased their willingness. In addition, both self-organization and learning capacity and positive policy perception and involvement encouraged tourism-participating households to engage in tourism activities continually. Finally, some practical implications and recommendations for further research are also discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Tourism destinations are generally delimited and branded based on administrative boundaries, which act as artificial barriers that may reduce the competitiveness of the tourism sector. Increasingly, literature is taking a demand perspective (i.e., tourist spatial behaviour) when identifying and promoting destinations. This perspective can help to promote destinations more efficiently, particularly in rural areas, where most tourism flows depend on private vehicle and which do not take into account administrative boundaries. These flows are therefore highly conditioned by the geography of the area, hosting capacity and the cumulative effect of attractions. This research centres on brand creation from a tourist perspective, particularly how tourists consume a destination. Els Ports (Spain), a rural mountain area divided into multiple administrative divisions, each marketing its own brand, is taken as a case study. Recently, destination managers have seen the opportunity for regional cooperation and taken steps to cross traditional boundaries to market the area better. This study uses GIS techniques to compare tourist travel patterns with brand boundaries and new cooperative initiatives. The findings provide material for discussion on the branding strategy of Els Ports and the need to rebrand rural tourism destinations into functional tourism areas.

Abstract (sommario):
The growing interest in ruralism among Chinese people has been observed as China’s population in urban areas has exceeded its rural population. Rural tourism has become one of the leading tourism sectors in China, in large part because many of China’s popular tourist attractions are surrounded by rural communities. This study identified 12 dimensions of tourist-perceived quality. In addition, perceived value and satisfaction were used as mediators to explain the relationships between perceived quality and three dimensions of behavioral intentions (i.e., revisitation intention, positive word-of-mouth, and willingness to pay for special rural products). Furthermore, the moderating impact of urban versus rural residence was tested. A total sample of 495 was used for data analysis. Four tourist-perceived quality dimensions (i.e., tourism infrastructure and transportation, hospitality and learning, handicrafts and culture, and rural environment) were found. The results of this study demonstrated the empirical evidence of the relationship between perceived quality, perceived value, satisfaction, and behavioral intentions. Finally, the results showed a moderating effect. The findings of this study can contribute to increasing various behavioral intentions and sustainable rural tourism in China.

Abstract (sommario):
Women’s participation is a significant development priority in tourism, especially rural tourism. Despite their critical role in rural tourism, women face different constraints and limitations that prevent them from fully participating in local tourist activities. This study explores the most influential factors on women’s participation in rural tourism, using qualitative methods of inquiry (semi-structured interviews and observations) to collect data from 17 women who are active in rural tourism in the villages of Khorasan Razavi, Iran. Eight fundamental causes were identified and classified into macro- and micro-level factors that affect women’s participation in rural tourism, using the Boolean algebra analysis. The findings show socio-geographic proximity, a newly emerging theme, and patriarchal structure influence women’s participation at the macro-level. Similarly, self-confidence, family support, financial assistance, and the absence of role conflict at the micro-level are necessary and sufficient causes to influence women to participate and overcome challenging situations in rural tourism activities.

Abstract (sommario):
Eco-tourism being one of six groups of OCOP products plays a key role in the rural economic development. However, there are limited empirical evidences on the impacts of destination attributes of OCOP tourism on tourist satisfaction. Thus, the objective of this current study is to investigate the impacts of OCOP eco-tourism destination attributes on tourist satisfaction. The study conducted face-to-face interviews with 200 eco-tourists and employed exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression. The study found that the shared social and environmental responsibilities - core characteristics of OCOP tourism have the highest effect on tourist satisfaction. The study also provides some policy implications for sustainable development of OCOP eco-tourism destinations in the Mekong Delta.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Music is an important element of a destination’s integrated tourism product, especially in rural regions. This fact raises a variety of issues, in particular with regard to the tourism management of rural destinations. Answers are sought to questions on how music can be valorised to help create a distinctive tourism product, making it necessary to analyse the current state of the music offering before objectives can be set and concrete solutions, devised, to accomplish them. This paper explores the music offering of the rural regions of eastern Croatia and presents the results of a survey of the attitudes of destination managers (managers of tourist boards) in rural regions of eastern Croatia, with special emphasis on traditional music that is increasingly present and contributes to creating distinctive rural destinations (the valorisation of sound and music in the offering should also enhance the inclusion of music in promotion). The studied rural destinations of eastern Croatia are not developed in terms of tourism and their tourist accommodation capacities are very small. Music offering management, together with the valorisation and preservation of traditional values, could help them enhance their distinctiveness in the tourism market.

Abstract (sommario):
Tourism, as a rapidly developing and highly profitable sector of the economy, plays an important role in the development of regions, and is a source of income at the local and regional levels. Assessment of the agro-tourism potential, which forms the grounds for tourism business in regions, determines characteristics and composition of the regional agro-tourism product, shapes new tourist destinations, and priority areas of investment policy in rural areas. This article summarizes methods for assessing the agro-tourism potential in rural areas, based on the need for comprehensive assessment. The concept of «tourist potential», factors influencing its forming and evaluation parameters have also been studied. Advantages of agro-tourism from the point of view of social perception have been highlighted. The stages of assessing the tourist and recreational potential and agro-tourism attractiveness of a region have been presented. The methodology for comprehensive assessment of the development of agro-tourism in administrative districts has been studied based on a classification of indicators that reflect the level of agro-tourism potential according to the Sturges criterion, with an account of specifics and competitive traits of regions. The use of generalized methods enables unbiased assessment of the potential of agro-tourism, taking into account specific features of each region.
