Abstract (sommario):
Currently, social media is a good medium for economic actors in doing marketing, this is due to easy internet access and is supported by the large number of internet media users in Indonesia. Currently, online business is a strength in developing its business, especially during this covid-19 pandemic where people must obey the rules implemented by the government such as social distancing, implementing community activity restrictions (PPKM). Social media is currently contributing to people who want to do business activities by utilizing social media, this is evidenced by the existence of platforms provided by several social media to carry out business promotion activities, for example the existence of WhatsApp with business accounts, Instagram business accounts, Facebook business pages. , and there are also promotional features provided on each of these social media at a very low cost when compared to using television and print media such as newspapers to carry out promotional activities. The community service program carried out by the team is an activity carried out to provide training to the residents of Pulai Payung Rt 12 Rw 04, Surabaya Village, Sungai Serut District, Bengkulu, so that they can take full advantage of social media, especially in improving the community's economy, where social media can basically be utilized. as a business account to carry out promotional activities or media to be more easily connected to a wider network when compared to conventional businesses that do not use social media at all.

Abstract (sommario):
In Brazil, until the 1980s, the context of blood as transfusion therapy was marked by paid donations. Thus, self-interest has surpassed solidarity as a motivator to donate. Recruiting donors involves advising the population due to the difficulties related to the myths around donation. With the COVID-19 pandemic, recruiting convalescent plasma (CP) donors has been a hard. This is an observational, prospective and non-interventionist study carried out in a hemotherapy unit of the Unified Health System, in central-western Brazil. Data collection was carried out from 06/19/2020 to 07/31/2020. The subjects were contacted by the Recruitment and Collection (CR) sector, through an active search, using lists of patients previously diagnosed with COVID-19. The study was also published on social and traditional networks, which resulted in self-reference. Convalescent COVID-19 patients tested, of both genders, aged between 18 and 60 years, weight over 60 kg, without symptoms for more than 14 days, and nulliparous donors were invited to the study. Those who met the criteria were scheduled for clinical and serological screening. The subjects eligible for donation, with IgG reagent, signed the Free and Informed Consent Form. Individuals with positive RT-PCR and / or non-reactive IgG were excluded. During the study period, RC made 308 and received 1,797 calls (2,105 contacts), generating 242 (11.5%) screening appointments, 173 (8.2%) of which resulted from self-referral and 69 (3.2%) from active search. Of these, 131 (6.2%) subjects attended the appointment. After clinical screening, 37 (28.25%) subjects were ineligible, 37 (28.25%) after serological tests and 57 (43.5%) were eligible for donation. The ineligibility causes in clinical and serological screening are described in table 1. Many countries face difficulties in meeting the demand for blood and its components during the pandemic (Barone & DeSimone. Transfusion, 2020), especially in those where blood commercialization is prohibited, as in Brazil. The purpose of recruiting donors is to make blood donation habitual to Brazilians, as it occurs in developed countries. Figure 2 shows self-referral rates after dissemination in traditional media. The ads focused on the donor's ability to save lives by encouraging altruism (Ronse, et al. 2018).On the other hand, despite attracting more people, most were not eligible for donation, demonstrating a great capacity to raise awarenessamong the population, but it was necessary to improve criterias and demonstrate them clearly for the likely donor. Of the 26 donors, 22 (84.6%) are older than 29. For these, awareness-raising occurred mainly through the television media 9(34.6%) and 5(19.3%) through personal contact. In the youngest 4(15.4%), the stimulus was social networks (Sümnig, et al. Transfusion, 2018). Marketing was important for recruitment. As blood donation is not usual for most brazilians, it is essential to plan, develop, evaluate strategies, enabling new forms of collection. Another difficulty encountered was the logistics for this donation type. As the donor is convalescent, the recruitment, screening, and collection was restricted to a physical space, isolated from conventional donos (Bloch, et al. J Clin Invest. 2020). In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic has become a public health challenge worldwide. Many recovered patients could donate CP. However, it is necessary to define the ideal requirements for donor selection to ensure the therapeutic viability and efficacy of PC transfusion. Blood collection teams need to strengthen strategies to inform the population about blood donation needs. The information available in the traditional and digital media about the donation process can increase the donation rate and guarantee a safe blood component. Strategies such as a greater number of insertions in social networks with well-defined criteria for donating plasma from a convalescent donor, clarification of exclusion criteria in the means of greater reach, creation of easily accessible channels to the donor (registrations, central doubts),in addition to stratifying by age group and proposing different dissemination strategies and thanksgiving for the donation, forming a network of donations. The combined efforts of these actions will contribute with expert advice and experience, technical guidance and additional support to potentially save more lives. Disclosures No relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

Abstract (sommario):
Using Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 standard, radio frequency waves are mainly used for communication on various devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and smart televisions. Apart from communication applications, the recent research in wireless technology has turned Wi-Fi into other exploration possibilities such as human activity recognition (HAR). HAR is a field of study that aims to predict motion and movement made by a person or even several people. There are numerous possibilities to use the Wi-Fi-based HAR solution for human-centric applications in intelligent surveillance, such as human fall detection in the health care sector or for elderly people nursing homes, smart homes for temperature control, a light control application, and motion detection applications. This paper’s focal point is to classify human activities such as EMPTY, LYING, SIT, SIT-DOWN, STAND, STAND-UP, WALK, and FALL with deep neural networks, such as long-term short memory (LSTM) and support vector machines (SVM). Special care was taken to address practical issues such as using available commodity hardware. Therefore, the open-source tool Nexmon was used for the channel state information (CSI) extraction on inexpensive hardware (Raspberry Pi 3B+, Pi 4B, and Asus RT-AC86U routers). We conducted three different types of experiments using different algorithms, which all demonstrated a similar accuracy in prediction for HAR with an accuracy between 97% and 99.7% (Raspberry Pi) and 96.2% and 100% (Asus RT-AC86U), for the best models, which is superior to previously published results. We also provide the acquired datasets and disclose details about the experimental setups.

Abstract (sommario):
The COVID-19 pandemic has become a pandemic that is able to close access to socialization, work and a decrease in people's economic income. Many people have died due to the COVID-19 virus. Elderly, is the age group that most of the victims in this case. Being infected with COVID-19 causes patients to experience shortness of breath, high fever, dry cough and weakness. The government is currently promoting the Adaptation of New Habits as an effort to prevent the transmission and increase of COVID-19 cases. When surveying 10 elderly people directly in the field in RT 004 and 003, the researchers found 7 elderly people who did not know about adapting new habits as a prevention effort and 3 other elderly people said they had heard from television broadcasts but could not explain well the description of adaptation of new habits. Therefore, the elderly need accurate and well-delivered information. One way to convey the right information to the elderly is to use health education with poster media. Poster media can contain information in a size that can be seen and understood by the elderly. The research will be conducted using the Pre-Experimental Design method with the One group pre and posttest design method using primary and secondary data which will be processed by the Wilcoxon test. The results of the study concluded that there was an effect of poster education about the new habits of the Covid 19 era on the level of knowledge of the elderly as a high risk group. Suggest for the elderly to continue to carry out strict health protocols until the pandemic period is over or resolved.

Abstract (sommario):
Recently, social media platforms have introduced several measures to counter misleading information. Among these measures are “state-media labels” which help users identify and evaluate the credibility of state-backed news. YouTube was the first platform to introduce labels that provide information about state-backed news channels. While previous work has examined the efficiency of information labels in controlled lab settings, few studies have examined how state-media labels affect users’ perceptions of content from state-backed outlets. This article proposes new methodological and theoretical approaches to investigate the effect of state-media labels on users’ engagement with content. Drawing on a content analysis of 8,071 YouTube comments posted before and after the labeling of five state-funded channels (Al Jazeera English [AJE], China Global Television Network, Russia Today [RT], TRT World, and Voice of America [VOA] News), this article analyses the effect that YouTube’s labels had on users’ engagement with state-backed media content. We found that the labels had no impact on the amount of likes that the videos received before and after the policy introduction, except for RT which received less likes after it was labeled. However, for RT, comments left by users were associated with 30% decrease in the likelihood of observing a critical comment following the policy implementation, and a 70% decrease in likelihood of observing a critical comment about RT as a media source. While other state-funded broadcasters, like AJE and VOA News, received fewer critical comments after YouTube introduced its policy; this relationship was associated with how political the video was, rather than the policy change. Our study contributes to the ongoing discussion on the efficacy of platform governance in relation to state-backed media, showing that audience preferences impact the effectiveness of labels.

Abstract (sommario):
As a result of the switchover from analogue to digital transmission, Television White Space (TVWS) presented itself as good opportunity to supplement the existing licensed spectrum to ease the spectrum scarcity. Rural communities were usually not connected due to poor returns to the internet providers to provide broadband access to the areas. This research has prepared the framework and feasibility study for deploying broadband internet services using Television White Space (TVWS) technology in Ugbawka, a rural area in Enugu state, Nigeria. In this work, a Network Ping was run on five websites using three major internet service providers as backhaul to establish facts of poor or even non-existent internet services. Using Ping Plotter 5 Pro, accessing ieee.com using MTN yielded a Round Trip (RT) average of 846.433 ms, with a loss of 83.8% packet over 10mins count. Radio Frequency (RF) Explorer and Carlson transceiver, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) were used for field trials to determine availability of TVWS Frequencies. A database app was developed by writing some codes in the Basic for Android (B4A) Intermediate Development Environment (IDE). Empirical outdoor propagation model was developed with a 2.15 pathloss exponent. An algorithm was developed, titled, TVWS Optimization Quadrature Amplitude Algorithm, (TOQA), where throughput of this project performed better by giving 60Mbps and 70 Mbps at Signal-Noise-Ratio (SNR) of 5dB while the conventional algorithm gave 30Mbps and 25 Mbps at same SNR value. The Bit Error Rate was lower than the conventional models used, giving the TOQA values of 10-3 at SNR of 5 dB and 10-6 at SNR of 30 dB while the conventional method gave 10-1 and 10-3 respectively at the same SNR values. A 34.0% improvement was achieved when the dynamic access technique offered by this project was implemented on the TVWS network.

Al-Rawi, Ahmed, e Jacob Groshek. "A study of intermedia and interorganizational agenda-setting in the news coverage of the Ebola virus on Twitter". Journal of Applied Journalism & Media Studies, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.1386/ajms_00073_1.

Abstract (sommario):
The Ebola virus is a rare but often severe and fatal illness in humans. It spreads from animals to humans and then transgresses through human-to-human transmission. The 2014 Ebola virus disease outbreak captured substantial media attention around the world, which is the cornerstone of our study since it can inform us about the current news coverage on the COVID-19 pandemic. This article investigates the media coverage of Ebola in five pairs of English and Arabic international television media outlets (BBC, CNN, SkyNews, RT and France24) by examining the headlines of 298,559 news stories that the respective organizations posted on their official Twitter accounts. Methodologically, we extracted headlines from news outlets that addressed the news on the Ebola virus in two languages: English and Arabic. The media outlets include the following: CNN (English and Arabic), BBC (English and Arabic), SkyNews (English and Arabic), RT (formerly known as Russia Today) (English and Arabic) and France24 (English and Arabic) from late 2013 to early 2015 during which time the Ebola epidemic intensified. We then used descriptive statistics to understand the volume of news coverage and calculate the frequencies, percentages, mean, median and standard deviations for these channels. Further, we continued to model time series regression between the five pairs of news outlets using Granger causality tests. The findings show that over the course of approximately one year’s worth of coverage on these networks, Ebola was mentioned in the headlines of 4138 stories, which constitutes 1.38 per cent of the total news coverage of all media outlets. Building on the theory of intermedia agenda-setting that outlines the ways in which major news organizations influence the agendas of other news outlets, the findings reported here indicate strong, time-ordered patterns where English-language coverage consistently precedes and helps to significantly explain the distribution of Arabic media coverage. In addition to providing evidence of intermedia agenda-setting from a comparative perspective in this context, this article expands on this theory and suggests that it can be applied to multilingual outlets from the same news organizations.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract China’s biggest global state media outlets have been at the center of its renewed soft power campaign. China has poured billions into the expansion and modernization of Xinhua and China Global Television Network (CGTN) in particular. Indeed, CGTN has tried to build itself a presence that could rival other global broadcasters like Al Jazeera, RT, the Turkish global broadcaster TRT World, and, the Chinese government hopes, giants like CNN and the BBC. Sometimes, China has tried to copy the conspiratorial success of RT; other times it has tried to be more straightforward, like Al Jazeera. China also has invested heavily in training programs for journalists from other countries. Yet, despite all this investment, many of China’s big state media outlets struggle to reach viewers, listeners, or readers, with the exception of Xinhua.
