Testo completoPresbyopia is the progressive loss of the ability to accommodate near objects. It is an unavoidable phenomenon linked to the loss of elasticity of the crystalline lens with age, and affects the entire population. This thesis focuses on the design and manufacturing of intracorneal implants to correct presbyopia. The first two chapters present existing optical solutions, in particular those based on the photon sieve principle, followed by the modeling and characterization tools used. We then study how the various parameters of a photon sieve configuration can be optimized to create a multifocal implant, and identify its limitations. We then showed how the 3D shape of the sieve holes could be used to define a new optical surface to overcome the previous limitations. In particular, we have shown how the use of beveled and apodized holes can be used effectively in a mix&match approach. The final chapter presents the manufacturing methods used to prototype and experimentally validate the configurations studied. The proscpects for more industrial manufacturing are discussed
Millet, Céline. "Etude des optiques diffractives en imagerie infrarouge". Paris 11, 2008. http://www.theses.fr/2008PA112319.
Testo completoThis work deals with a new familiy of diffractive optical elements composed of one-leved binary sub-wavelength structures, i. E with local features that are slightly smaller than the wavelength, providing high efficiency over a large spectral band, which is very useful in imagery. In order to demonstrate the broadband behaviour of these components for use in imaging systems, we have developed a new model called hybrid model addressing components, to design and analyse them. It combines a scalar analysis of the large Fresnel zones (which are useful in imaging applications) with a vectorial treatment of the small features. The model is available for any type of diffractive structures with slowly varying phase. A blazed sub-wavelength grating etched in a Gallium Arsenide substrate has been designed and fabricated by photolithography and ICP etching. In order to evaluate the grating performances, we measured its diffraction efficiency transmitted around the blaze order for an oblique incidence at a wavelength of 10,6 μm. It has also been measured in normal incidence for wavelengths between 2 and 17 μm. . The hybrid model was used to conceive an ideal diffractive structure at first, and then to take fabrication effects into account. We validated a fabrication process and showed the quality of a two dimensional sub-wavelengh grating which period is large compared to the wavelength thanks to its diffraction efficiency higher than 80% from 8 μm to 14 μm. This experimental study shows that the fabrication of components with very interesting propeties is compatible with low-cost processes currently used in the semiconductors industry

Testo completoBeam forming networks for multiple beam antennas are a very important antenna sub-system as they enable to reuse the same radiating aperture to produce all the beams. These solutions naturally find application in space as stringent accommodation constraints on board of satellites ask for space saving. Several concepts are available in the literature, including quasi-optic solutions and guided wave solutions. We investigated on this second category, including namely Blass, Butler and Nolen matrices as well as beam forming networks producing uniform phase distribution. In particular, we proposed a designed method, defined as an asymptotic singular case of a more general Blass matrix design procedure. Experimental validation was carried out with a specific design in S-band. Flexibility on the design of Nolen matrix has been used to generate non-uniform amplitude distribution to reduce side-lobe level. Also, natural phase dispersion of a serial feeding network has been used to produce frequency independent beam pointing linear arrays with potential application to Blass and Nolen matrices. Beam forming networks with uniform phase distribution associated to uniform and Gaussian amplitude distributions were also investigated, in particular to highlight the level of the intrinsic losses. The structure with Gaussian amplitude distribution was also modified to be adapted to circular array antennas. All this information should help to identify the best suited beam forming network concept for a given application. In some particular cases, a combination of different concepts can even be considered
Lee, Mane-Si Laure. "Matériaux artificiels pour l'optique diffractive". Paris 11, 2001. http://www.theses.fr/2001PA112266.
Testo completoThis work concerns blazed binary diffractive optics, a family of diffractive elements composed of binary structures with variable size that is slightly smaller than the wavelength. Their principle of operation is based on artificial materials, composed of ridges, pillars or other simple geometries etched in an dielectric thin film, which effective index depends on the fill factor. Thus, by varying locally the fill factor, one cansynthesize any phase function. The objet of the study is to identify tha advantage of artificial materials for applications in diffractive optic, a domain that is highly increasing with the nano-technology improvements. First, the experimental results obtained in the visible have shown that, in the resonance domain, blazed binary optcs offer higher performances than the standard diffrative optics. It is due to a guiding effect through the sub-wavelength structures that compose the artificial matérials

Testo completoThis manuscript is about high energy -γ-ray astronomy (between GeV and GeV) with the Fermi-LAT satellite and very high energy astronomy above ~GeV) via the H. E. S. S. Experiment. The second phase of the H. E. S. S. Experiment began in July 2012 with the inauguration of a fifth 28 m diameter telescope added to the intial array composed of four 12m diameter imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. In the first part of this thesis, we present the development of an analysis in hybrid mode based on a multivariate method dedicated to detect and study sources with different spectral shapes and the first analysis results on real data. The second part is dedicated to the research of blazar candidates among the Fermi-LAT unidentified sources of the 2FGL catalog. A first development is based on a multivariate approach using discriminant parameters built with the 2FGL catalog parameters. A second development is done with the use of the WISE satellite catalog and a non-parametric technic in order to find the blazar-like infrared counterparts of the unidentified sources of the 2FGL catalog
