La, Rosa Giulia. "Per un commento alle Senili di Petrarca : aspetti micro-testuali e macro-strutturali della raccolta". Electronic Thesis or Diss., Paris 3, 2023. https://theses.hal.science/tel-04619703.
This thesis focuses on the collection of Francesco Petrarca’s Res Seniles, the last latin epistolary started by the author in 1361 and concluded in limine mortis in 1374. This thesis intends to delve into the macro-structural space of Petrarca’s Senili, with specific attention toward the compositional parameters and the strategies of internal connection underlying the creation of the collection de senilitate. My research focuses precisely on the reciprocal relationship that exists between the individual texts and the collection designed to accommodate them. The thesis consists of three parts. The first is structured in three chapters; the first one is dedicated to the genesis of the Senili’s collection; the second one focuses on the tradition of the text; the third chapter of the first part reconstructs the editorial history of the sylloge. The main section of the thesis offers an examination of the Res Seniles seventeen books. For each liber, it has been defined a summary prospectus of its contents, accompanied by data on textual consistency, the dating and the ordering of the letters, the number and identity of the addressees, and the possible presence of intra- and intertextual references that allow unraveling the network of cross-references to other Petrarchan writings. The third part of the thesis gives an account of the solidity of the overall design of the work, highlighting the coherence and cohesion of the macro-text and interpreting the organizational logics that presided over the arrangement of the texts in the collection
Rodriguez, Reuban Beryrl. "Expectation and satisfaction of freshmen and seniors in higher education". Doctoral diss., University of Central Florida, 1999. http://digital.library.ucf.edu/cdm/ref/collection/RTD/id/23541.
The purpose of this study was to examine the expectation, satisfaction and performance gap levels between selected freshman and seniors as measured by the selected SSI scales. The problem was to determine if expectation, satisfaction, and performance gap levels differed between freshman and seniors in 1995 and freshman and seniors in 1998 based on class level, gender and age. The study examined four selected scales from the twelve scales derived from the Student Satisfaction Inventory (SSI): Campus Climate, Campus Life, Campus Support Services, and Instruction Effectiveness. Respondents rated all items on a 7-point Likert scale with respect to their expectations of and satisfaction with student services respresented by the scales. Findings indicated that, for both 1995 and 1998, freshman had significantly higher levels of expectation than did seniors in regard to campus climate, campus life and campus support services; freshman has significantly higher levels of satisfaction than seniors with campus climate, campus life, campus support services and instructional effectiveness; seniors had significantly higher levels of unmet needs than did freshman for campus support services and instructional effectiveness, and; there were no signifcant differences between freshman and seniors according to gender or age. Responses of 1995 freshman and seniors and 1998 freshman and seniors were similar. The four selected scales served as having the potential to guide administrators in assessing the levels of student satisfaction with both academic and nonacademic student services.

The second semester of the high school senior year has been associated with a lack of motivation among students and increased frustrations among parents and teachers. This qualitative study examines the achievement goals and engagement outcomes of second semester high school seniors in their mathematics classes. Data were collected from eight high school seniors, three of their parents, and two teachers enrolled at an all male college preparatory school in Pennsylvania. In-depth interviews were used to gather participants’ definitions of success prior to their senior year and during the second semester of their senior year. Student participants’ behavioral, emotional and cognitive engagements were assessed through directed interview questions and observations. Data were analyzed using a three goal framework of task-involvement, ego-involvement, and work-avoidance (Nicholls, Patashnick, & Nolen, 1985). The participants’ definitions of success suggested four themes. First, student participants defined success in mathematics consistently as they recalled their four years of high school and transition into the second semester of their senior year. Second, the phenomenon of senioritis was found to be more perceived than real for most of the participants. The work-avoidant participants described feeling the effects of senioritis for most of the second semester whereas the task-involved and ego-involved students reported brief effects before regaining focus. Third, students’ achievement goals in mathematics were found to be more closely aligned to their parents’ goals and less aligned to their teachers’ goals. Lastly, students described different achievement goals from one class to another during the same semester, at times even within the same discipline. Implications for practice and suggestions for future research were also discussed.
