Maisonnasse, Jérôme. "Estimation des relations attentionnelles dans un environnement intelligent". Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble), 2007. http://www.theses.fr/2007GRE10300.
Testo completoThis thesis proposes an attentional relation detector aiming at identifying in real-time dependencies between users and devices equiped in a smart environment. These estimations are used to adapt human computer interaction in a flexible and continuous manner according to digital services. Our model is based on a gravitational and spotlight metaphor. The physical salience of objects is described as a mass. The estimated intention of users is represented by a speed vector which completes the attention definition. A quasi-linear combination provides the focus of attention. Combined with a model of limited resources, each part of attentional resources is distributed to objects according spatial relationships. We evaluate our model by simulating different spatial arrangements. The results were compared with results known in social sciences literature. Other estimations processed on real scenes have been compared with experts evaluation. The model is found robust to estimation of the direction of focus. Ln terms of the distribution of resources the level of agreement is sufficiently reliable. Our model permits a dynamic and flexible perception and can adapt the interaction according to the attentional state of users

Testo completoThe Neolithic period is characterized by profound societal changes, such as the transition from a hunter-gatherer to agropastoral livelihood, population growth, ranking, population movements, changing diets, and waste management. As part of this phD research work, we have focused on the impact of these changes on the diversity of parasites, particularly digestive helminths. The studied corpus includes several sites of humid contexts whose dates cover a period from 5000 to 2500 BC. Most of them correspond to lakeside settlements, which are well represented in Europe, and are excellent recorders of these changes, thanks to perfect preservation conditions in some cases. It appears that the cultural, but also environmental changes that occurred between the 6th and 3rd millennia BC, had consequences on the diversity of digestive parasites. Through several examples, this work aims to understand the mechanisms that allowed these parasites to become deeply rooted in the daily lives of human and animal populations in the Neolithic period. For some of the sites studied, the sampling strategy allowed spatialization of the acquired data. This original approach allows a better integration of the study of ancient parasites into archaeological issues

Testo completoThe thesis is about understanding the ecoformative relations between subject and naturel element from the perspective of a re-enchantement of the world and a philosophy of the related man. The development of such an understandind is founded upon the lived experience reported by social actors at camp dwellings of more than three days in natural hydrographical surroundings for a specific outdoor practice : fly-fishing; The project was to seize a new logic acquired in this singular exercice, integrating the complexus that re-interrogates the way man, turned into actor of the world, inhabits the Earth space, perceived as Earth-homeland. The ontological two banished spaces of modern society, solitude and silence in the mastery of a technique. The conclusive opening by exploring the path from “being in one’s world” towards “being in the world” that is a once, an argument, a plea for and a call for an emancipating ecoformation, questions the becoming of our societies, by postulating that education must cease to make a clean sweep of a forgotten tierce, the environment, an thus sign away the meaning of life on Earth by choosing not to answer two ethical questions : Which Earth for our children? Which children for the earth ?

Testo completoThe first settlers reached the Remote Oceania (east of the Solomon Islands) quite recently, around 3000 yr BP. There are several hypotheses concerning the causes of these migrations, and environmental changes have to be taken into account in the settlement proceeding. The arrival of populations on pristine islands has an influence on the native fauna and flora, but landscape responses to human impact vary for each site examined. The aims of this research are to describe the human influence on the environment since the first migrations, to discriminate the climate impact, which causes theses migrations and the landscape modification during the late Holocene; then, to characterize the human behaviour and adaptation on pristine island. To answer this problem, two palustrine cores, collected in Efate Island (central Vanuatu) were studied: the Emaotfer Swamp and the Otas Lake.I have mainly used pollen and micro-charcoal analyses to reconstruct the arboreal and herbaceous vegetation found around the sites. I have also conducted of past temperatures and rainfalls reconstructions thanks to density probability functions. At the climatic level, these analyses highlight a warm and wet period until 3700 cal yr BP. Then, a increase in magnitude and number of El Niño events caused a drier environment. Between 1950 and 750-600 cal yr BP, the results reveal a more humid climate, associated with the decrease in El Niño frequency and magnitude. The climatic variations recorded by the Otas Lake and the Emaotfer Swamp vegetation show a new dry period after 750-600 cal yr BP, corresponding to the Little Ice Age.Lapita people reached Efate Island ca. 3000 cal yr BP under frequent and sustained El Niño events. During this period, easterly winds stopped and favoured eastward sail. These results support the hypothesis of eastward migrations under low trade winds. The first settlers were seafarers and fishers-gatherers, they had little impact on the environment. A new population settled the Emaotfer Swamp from 1500-1300 cal yr BP, developed medicinal, ceremonial and food plants cultivations and has probably practiced slash and burn agriculture. This group lived under humid climate, also more suitable to the development of horticulture. Our results show the adaptive capacity of populations to new environmental and climatic constraints. The complementary of the pollen and micro-charcoal analyses deliver rather complete information on the palaeoenvironment, the Human-climate-vegetation relations and the emergence of the human impact. For future researches, it will be necessary to obtain more information on the pollen rain for a maximum of taxa, the ecological needs of plant species and the specific climate parameters for each island, to develop a robust model of past landscapes, climates and land-use (project LandCover6k)

Testo completoMembers of a religious community founded in the 15th century in the Thar desert, the Bishnoi number about 900 000 today, the majority of whom still live in the Rajasthan region. Originating from 29 precepts, several of which codify relationships to other living beings, animal and vegetal, their religious doctrine upholds a life ethic in accordance with these precepts, their ethnonym "Bishnoï" literally meaning twenty-nine, bish: 20, noï: 9. Today the Bishnoi see their values, representations and practices being questioned by a number of socio-economic and ecological factors. In addition to a look into the ruptures and continuities of the transmission of their doctrine and its 29 precepts, this thesis examines the relationships and interactions between the Bishnoi and the animals and trees in their environment, the demands resulting from them, as well as influences on both material and immaterial practices of the present-day community. Practices (along with their related dogmatic references) that have the effect of defining community members’ identity to themselves and to those of the outside world

Testo completoIn Modern Era, Provence and Dauphiné were quite far from the French royal power and appeared to be unique when it comes to human-wolf relationship. The demographic evolution of 16th-18th centuries led to a strong pressure on the environment resulting in a mosaic of diverse agricultural landscapes. The forest areas were reduced while the increasing hunting pressure drove to a reduction of natural preys’ populations. Wolves were obliged to get closer to human and livestock in order to subsist. If the image of the wolf in the ancient hunting and agronomic books was dreadful, it appears that the inhabitants were able to coexist with this animal willy-nilly. However, conflicts appear very intense in some places. Attacks on humans demonstrate the vulnerability of some social groups whose practices are closely related to the pastoral economy linked to the agronomic landscapes. These nuisances associated with canine rabies transforming the wolf into a violent victim contributed to the emergence of an ambivalent relationship. Apart from some more or less violent episodes belonging to the crime news, the continuous relationship was quite commonplace, and a certain reciprocity even took place. Indeed, through hunting bounties granted by local institutions, and despite the national policy, residents were able to participate to wolves culling. This hunt offered the opportunity to fight against the wolf in order to respond to the nuisance, but also to reduce its population in order to reduce the risk
