Abstract (sommario):
The ethics of collecting testimonies in documentary filmmaking has been the subject of academic discussion for decades, in particular since Claude Lanzmann’s landmark film Shoah (1985). There are occasions however when a subject of a potential film would like to tell his or her story but for some reason is unable to speak. Language breaks down when an attempt is made to symbolize the trauma. This article gives an account of the author’s experience of such an instance in making a three-part documentary series for the National Geographic about refugees coming to London. The article uses Lacanian psychoanalytical thought to give a theoretical framework to the events leading to the use of animation in the series.

Abstract (sommario):
2004–2020. The study was conducted in the context that Vietnam’s trade openness is increasing, causing significant challenges in macro management, including exchange rate management. The authors use vector autoregression model and Granger causality test to test this relationship. The study used a vector autoregression model and Granger causality test to investigate the causal relationship between trade openness and real effective exchange rate volatility in Vietnam over the period 2004–2020. The study was conducted in the context of Vietnam’s trade openness index rising, causing significant challenges in macro management, including exchange rate management. The study takes a new approach (i) using Vietnam’s real effective exchange rate relative to 143 trading partners; and (ii) examining the impact of economic growth on trade openness and exchange rate volatility. The research results indicate that trade openness has a two-way Granger causality with effective real exchange rate volatility in Vietnam at the 1% significance level. Specifically, the effect of trade openness on real exchange rate volatility is positive at a 1-period lag and 4-period lag. Meanwhile, real exchange rate fluctuations have a negative effect on trade openness with a 1-period lag. At the same time, the study also finds that increased economic growth reduces real effective exchange rate volatility and increases Vietnam’s trade openness. On that basis, the study proposes implications for the management of trade openness and exchange rate management in the current Vietnamese context.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Case-based learning is a widely accepted technique to promote critical thinking in health care students. This paper focuses on active learning through real life clinical cases as opposed to hypothetical cases in the dental academic curricula. The overall experience of the faculty as well as the students throughout the case assignment has been reported in this study. Objective: This study provides a student’s perspective and insight into an innovative real-life case-based approach in online learning of pathology. Material and Methods: A real-life case of hypertension, diabetes or both was assigned to the Bachelor of Dentistry students in their second academic year of Pathology. The case was then presented by the students, followed by an open discussion involving peers and faculty members. Students’ responses were obtained for the assignment. Results: The response of students towards case assignment was promising and their feedback on each aspect of the assignment has been described. Faculty perception has also been included in order to share feedback about the students’ participation in the assignment from a faculty viewpoint. Conclusion: The present study introduces an innovative teaching method in medical education which can be utilized in the online learning of pre-clinical subjects and even clinical subjects during adverse situations when patient exposure is less. The real-life case-based learning method discussed in this paper offers real potential in developing critical diagnostic skills in students under a realistic clinical environment

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of this study is to find out and understand in-depth real relationship experiencein counseling supervision through qualitative case study methods. Accordingly, three participantswho have been receiving supervision until recently and have an understanding of realrelationship were recruited as a purposeful sampling and conducted in-depth interviews. Theelements of the real relationship experience in supervision that three participants experienced in common were found to 5 categories and 15 subcategories in 2 areas. The real relationshipexperiences commonly found during supervision in each case were found in 'supervisor'sattitude and behavior' and 'supervisee's experience', and the influence after the real relationshipexperiences were found in 'as a counselor', 'in counseling', and 'in supervision'. The elementsof experience characteristically appearing in each case were 'involvement in life', 'influencingother areas of life', and 'experience achieved together'. This study is meaningful in that itprovides academic and clinical knowledge of the real relationship in counseling supervision byexploring what the real relationship experiences by supervisees.

Abstract (sommario):
It is known that injective (complex or real) W ∗ -algebras with particular factors have been studied well enough. In the arbitrary cases, i.e., in noninjective case, to investigate (up to isomorphism) W ∗ -algebras is hard enough, in particular, there exist continuum pairwise nonisomorphic noninjective factors of type II. Therefore, it seems interesting to study maximal injective W ∗ -subalgebras and subfactors. On the other hand, the study of maximal injective W ∗ -subalgebras and subfactors is also related to the well-known von Neumann’s bicommutant theorem. In the complex case, such subalgebras were investigated by S. Popa, L. Ge, R. Kadison, J. Fang, and J. Shen. In recent years, studies have also begun in the real case. Let us briefly recall the relevance of considering the real case. It is known that in the works of D. Topping and E. Stormer, it was shown that the study of JW-algebras (nonassociative real analogues of von Neumann algebras) of types II and III is essentially reduced to the study of real W ∗ -algebras of the corresponding type. It turned out that the structure of real W ∗ -algebras, generally speaking, differs essentially in the complex case. For example, in the finite-dimensional case, in addition to complex and real matrix algebras, quaternions also arise, i.e., matrix algebras over quaternions. In the infinite-dimensional case, it is proved that there exist, up to isomorphism, two real injective factors of type III λ ( 0 < λ < 1 ), and a countable number of pairwise nonisomorphic real injective factors of type III 0 , whose enveloping (complex) W ∗ -factors are isomorphic, is constructed. It follows from the above that the study of the real analogue of problems in the theory of operator algebras is topical. Moreover, the real analogue is a generalization of the complex case, since the class of real linear operators is much wider than the class of complex linear operators. In this paper, the maximal injective real W ∗ -subalgebras of real W ∗ -algebras or real factors are investigated. For real factors Q ⊂ R , it is proven that if Q + i Q is a maximal injective W ∗ -subalgebra in R + i R , then Q also is a maximal injective real W ∗ -subalgebra in R . The converse is proved in the case “ II 1 ”-factors, that is, it is shown that if R is a real factor of type II 1 , then the maximal injectivity of Q implies the maximal injectivity of Q + i Q . Moreover, it is proven that a maximal injective real subfactor Q of a real factor R is a maximal injective real W ∗ -subalgebra in R if and only if Q is irreducible in R , i.e., Q ′ ∩ R = ℝ I where I is the unit. The “splitting theorem” of Ge-Kadison in the real case is also proven, namely, if R 1 is a finite real factor, R 2 is a finite real W ∗ -algebra, and R is a real W ∗ -subalgebra of R 1 ⊗ ¯ R 2 containing R 1 ⊗ ¯ ℝ I , then there is some real W ∗ -subalgebra Q 2 ⊂ R 2 such that R = R 1 ⊗ ¯ Q 2 . Moreover, it is given some affirmative answers to the question of S. Popa for the real case.

Learning outcomes This case will enable students to develop an understanding of starting a single proprietorship business focusing on the real estate; understand the possible challenges that an entrepreneur faces in the beginning; apply ethical decision-making frame works when faced in ethically conflicting situation; andlook at the career anchoring theory. Case overview/synopsis The case study takes a look at the ways and means of starting a small business depending on the owner managers experience, capabilities and skills including networking which are germane to success. It also highlights the ethical issues that small business proprietors have to face in order to make money and grow. The setting of the case is a town in Sindh province of Pakistan, which setting generally represent the arena where such business (Single Proprietorship) develop and get involved in the economic development of a backward area. Finally, the case study highlights the significant but realistic expose of career anchor theory, which stipulates that people normally start with a job but switch jobs over their working life. Abstract (sommario):
The issue of application of real option valuation approach in the valuation of investment project is presented in the article in a way in which the flexibility of the project could be included in the process of its valuation. The authors apply the valuation approach in case of a specific investment project in the real estate in the capital city of the Czech Republic—Prague, using the option to expand, to contract, and to abandon the project. The main aim of this case study is to present a practical application of the investment valuation and to construct an option pricing model for real estate investment which considers and integrates as many aspects of the investment and market environment as possible to describe the best situation of the real estate market and its development. The valuation of the investment is carried out using a universally applicable numerical method of binomial trees. The results obtained are subjected to the sensitivity analysis with respect to the discount rate, value of the most influential parameter of the volatility and the input option parameters. The results of the valuation of the project obtained using the real option approach are important mainly for the management of the company in the process of quantification of the present value of future investments. Implementation of managerial interventions enables for optimizing the value of the project not only in case of favourable development of the real estate market, but particularly in case of unfavourable development. Therefore, they are important in order to protect an investor from potential high losses. Finally, the valuation of these interventions increases the present value of the project, contributing to the decision of the corporate management regarding its implementation.

Abstract (sommario):
Our response amplifies our case for scientific realism and the unity of science and clarifies our commitments to scientific unity, nonreductionism, behaviorism, and our rejection of talk of “emergence.” We acknowledge support from commentators for our view of physics and, responding to pressure and suggestions from commentators, deny the generality supervenience and explain what this involves. We close by reflecting on the relationship between philosophy and science.

Abstract (sommario):
We construct the product of real spectral triples of arbitrary finite dimension (and arbitrary parity) taking into account the fact that in the even case there are two possible real structures, in the odd case there are two inequivalent representations of the gamma matrices (Clifford algebra), and in the even-even case there are two natural candidates for the Dirac operator of the product triple.

Abstract (sommario):
In Conway’s Game of Life every cell is either fully alive (has the value of 1) or completely dead (has the value 0). In Real Life this restriction to bivalence is lifted to countenance “real-valued” degrees of life and death. Real Life contains Conway’s Game of Life as a special case; however, Real Life, in contrast to Conway’s Game of Life, exhibits sensitive dependence on initial conditions which is characteristic of chaotic systems.

Abstract (sommario):
One of the main concerns of the university is the ability to respond to the training needs of future workers. The disconnection between the theory and the practise causes demotivation because sometimes knowledge learned in the classroom has no direct application at work. The purpose of this study is to evaluate student motivation through investment decision-making real case using gamification techniques and an incentive system. The results showed a positive impact since students improved their learning and appreciated its usefulness. The main conclusion is the necessity to include real examples in the classroom.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThe singular values of products of standard complex Gaussian random matrices, or sub-blocks of Haar distributed unitary matrices, have the property that their probability distribution has an explicit, structured form referred to as a polynomial ensemble. It is furthermore the case that the corresponding bi-orthogonal system can be determined in terms of Meijer G-functions, and the correlation kernel given as an explicit double contour integral. It has recently been shown that the Hermitised product {X_{M}\cdots X_{2}X_{1}AX_{1}^{T}X_{2}^{T}\cdots X_{M}^{T}}, where each {X_{i}} is a standard real Gaussian matrix and A is real anti-symmetric, exhibits analogous properties. Here we use the theory of spherical functions and transforms to present a theory which, for even dimensions, includes these properties of the latter product as a special case. As an example we show that the theory also allows for a treatment of this class of Hermitised product when the {X_{i}} are chosen as sub-blocks of Haar distributed real orthogonal matrices.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract COVID has accelerated the science and practice of palliative care while creating a sense of urgency in advance care planning (ACP). Past palliative care principles and practices have been stressed to the breaking point, causing the need for new ACP approaches to elicit patient-and-family goals/values/preferences. In this presentation, two cases will be used to discuss pragmatic implications and real-world implementation strategies in the trenches of the major health care system disruptor of this generation. We will discuss access to documentation, immediacy and complexity of the decision-making process, provider impacts, role of the family, and even an upside to this crisis. This will include questions of ethics and equity. The first case involves an older man whose family disregarded his wishes, while the second case discusses the pitfalls and pearls when family cannot visit. These two cases highlight COVID’s impact on ACP and cause us to re-think its process and delivery.
