Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Rattan has significant value in the craft creative industry because of the various benefits associated with its use as a raw material for various handicraft products. This research was conducted to determine the types and sources of raw materials, the types of processed products produced, and the types of processed products, and to determine the business feasibility and income of the rattan industry. The results showed that five types of rattan were used, namely Calamus manau, Calamus scipionum, Calamus caesius, Daemonorops angustifolia, and baliong rattan. The results of the study show that the average income in 2022 obtained by Small and Medium Enterprises (UKM) Mulia Rattan, Sibayak Rattan, Pancur Simalem Rattan, Sejahtera Rattan, and Rattan Aat respectively was 197,990,800, IDR; 13,510,789, IDR; 141,029,989 IDR; 134,029,989 IDR and 228,294,200 IDR. Based on the feasibility analysis, the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of each UKM was 78%, 47%, 69%, 84%, and 95%, respectively. All IRR values are greater than interest rates, which means that UKM activities are feasible to carry out. BCR for each business is 1.23; 1.29; 1.64; 1.31. All Small and Medium Enterprises are said to be feasible because of BCR>1.

Abstract (sommario):
The objective of this study is to determine the nature of the influence of recording and the recording industry upon musical activity. Sound recording is a major communications medium of the twentieth century. Yet there has been limited research into the influence of recording and the changes that it has driven. This study seeks to address this gap in understanding. The method chosen for the study was three separate case studies of the conductors Sir Thomas Beecham, Sir Georg Solti and Sir Simon Rattle. Each of these musicians had a major recording career, and in Rattle's case continues to do so. The data used in the study was collected from three sources: firstly through interviews with those possessing professional experience of the case-study subjects and of the record industry; secondly from archival documentation; and thirdly through published press interviews and commentaries. The analysis of commonalities and differences between the case study subjects indicated that each was generally in control of their involvement with recording, rather than the reverse. Three areas were identified as being of key importance: the relationship with record companies and with personnel within these; control over repertoire decisions; and mastery of the act of recording. Based on the experience of the three case-study subjects, a model of the influence of recording has been constructed. This relates each stage of the technological development of recording to its immediate consequences and to ‘meta-consequences', or the more far-reaching influences of recording. The principal ‘meta-consequences' are seen as being: an increase in knowledge; changes in performance standards; and the introduction of the idea of ethics into recording, with a re-emphasis upon the importance of the musical ‘act'. The study concludes with a discussion of possible future areas of research into the influence of recording and the record industry.

Guanmiao Township, geographically as a region of connecting Nei-men Coteau and Jia-nan plain, locates in the southern part of Tainan County. The rough landscape in Long-ci & Guanmiao villages on the eastern coteau brings forestry and agriculture; and moreover, the warm tropical climate, which is best-fitted for bamboos’ growing, and the abundant resource of bamboo stuff bring the development of bamboo artifacts industry. In early Japanese colonial era, only a few locals made their living by engaging Bamboo artifacts industry. The real rise of this industry came in 1921. In 1922, the rate of population engaging this industry had come to 14.6%. With simple production process, various sorts of Bamboo artifacts mainly supplied for agricultural purposes and country life forms, inclusive of baskets, hats and dustpans etc. The main factors of bamboo artifacts industry’s rise was attributed to Japan Government’s highly exertion on locals’ vocation. By setting up exhibition center, handiwork schools, factories, and moreover, the expansion of marketing approaches, those fine artifacts were almost sold everywhere in Taiwan at that time, even in southern Japan. After the end of World War II, Guanmiao Bamboo industrial cooperation kept on managing the artifacts business and production, even though the time wasn’t long. Not until 1957 did the cooperation got oversea orders and changed the marketing strategy to domestic selling and technique impartation for the public. Before 1969, most of the artificers were women’s vocation which proceeded with primitive tools and household industrial style. In 1969, rattan artifacts industry seemed to face an impasse as a result from the rapid wage drift. Then the Japanese passed on their attention to Taiwan’s cheap labor and capital cost, and launched into rattan artifacts exporting and manufacturing in Guanmiao. Professional workmen were sent to Taiwan for schooling more potential craftsmen and the unfailing supply of raw materials were imported in from Indonesia. At that time, the phenomenon of immensely cooperative manufacturing system pushed the rattan artifacts industry ahead. Rattan products such as baskets, carpets and different sorts of furniture became so popular with oversea consumers, including Japan, Europe and USA. Thereupon the high peak of this trade had appeared from 1986 to 1987and lasted for twenty years, and thus brought up the development of bamboo artifacts industry. Good times never last long. Influenced by exchange rate, wage drifts, competence from China and Southeast Asia, and exporting policies, the trade went from bad to worse. Though the dealers had strived to reverse the trend by forming the “Taiwan Bamboo and Rattan-made artifacts industry and trade union”, but the efforts were still in vain at last, because the oversea orders flew away to China and Southeast Asia. The rest factories and dealers reduced the staff and scale for surviving in the recent market, or invested new factories and shifted the whole staff to Indonesia and other countries.

Low birth rate is one of the popular issues in modern society. The impact of this issue is deep and wide to the domestic higher education organization. In recent years, the deficiency vacancy of students in most college becomes obvious, and this reminds us the problem we face could not be ignored, especially for private college. The purpose of this work is to identify potential impact of low birth rate issue, and explore the corresponding strategies that college might take. Based on literatures of declining industry response strategy, this work first proposed an AHP analytical framework with two layer decision structures. Then 20 professionals from private college were invited to join this research to complete an AHP interview-questionnaire. AHP were applied to determine the relative weight of each response strategy under consideration, and difference analysis among geographic location was conducted. Major findings show as followings: 1. In general, the priority response strategy of private college is rank as product adjustment first, innovation the second, and the last organization adjustment. As to the action criteria, creating multiple recruit ways was the most important tactics. 2. Location and scale difference would lead to different decision weight. For colleges located in North and Central Taiwan and with more than ten thousand students, innovation were thought to be the most important response strategy, while in South Taiwan, adjustment product structure seemed critical for their survival. We hope this research provide useful date for school to make decision of related policy. Keyword::low birth rate, high education, declining industry, AHP mode

The dissertation work concentrates on an intercompany comparison of Czech Post Office with other companies whose subject of activity are similar and to find out its standing ratio within the evaluation standard of the companies and the best industry values. The theoretical part concentrates on the ways and methods of comparison including the evaluation within its industry, logistics and storage. In the practical part, the analysis of 15 companies is presented based on ratio indicators from 2010 to 2014. Using a cluster analysis tool, the whole file was reduced and then one with the best values was chosen by using a math-statistical method. The last but not least important step was using the Spider analysis to compare the best company, with good average within the industry branch, with the specified company, and on those basics, certain measures were suggested towards the improvement of the company's situation.

Abstract (sommario):
This chapter explores Mani Ratnam's 1998 film Dil Se (From the Heart) to engage critically with changing representations of terrorism in contemporary Indian cinema. Mani Ratnam is recognised by many critics and the Indian film industry as one of its finest and most commercially successful film-makers. Dil Se was Ratnam's first Hindi film and the third part in a loose trilogy of films dealing with the relationship between nationalism, terrorism, and urban violence. The chapter then looks at regional film-making in India, particularly Tamil cinema. It also considers Mani Ratnam's concerns as an auteur, the music of Dil Se and composer A.R. Rahman, and perhaps most importantly, the impact the film had at the UK box office with the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) audience.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This chapter looks into the rise of gay characters on Broadway, especially in plays by Britons. It considers the plays featuring gay people written by John Osborne, Shelagh Delaney, Terence Rattigan, Charles Dyer, and Frank Marcus. The Killing of Sister George (1966), The Best Man (1960), and Advise and Consent (1960) are only some of the few American works that featured a full-scale gay relationship. American artists started creating gay theatre from the inside as the gay culture in the industry has been so highly developed despite being legally sub rosa. The chapter expounds on the rise of gay culture in the West End and Broadway by referencing Oscar Wilde, A Patriot For Me (1969), and The Killing of Sister George.

Abstract (sommario):
This chapter provides an overview of product modelling in the Building and Construction (BC) industry based on authors’ experiences gained from various conducted research projects and also taking into account results of other research projects. This chapter starts with an introduction and background of the subject area in terms of motivation, industrial needs and requirements. This is followed by an overview of a historical background of the subject area. In this historical background we distinguish five generations of product modelling developments. The first generation of product modelling developments is characterized by the influence of previous expert and database developments and by the constituting high-level constructs (e.g. EDM, BSM, RATAS and GARM). The second generation of product modelling developments can be characterized by the development of detailed aspect systems and supporting frameworks for data exchange and integration (e.g. IRMA, ATLAS, COMBINE, PISA and IMPPACT). The third generation product modelling developments can be characterized by its focus on collaborative engineering support by means of the application of middleware and client/server technology (e.g. SPACE, CONCUR, BCCM, VEGA and ToCEE) and the development of the IFC. The fourth generation of product modelling developments is heavily influenced by the Internet and Web Services standards such as XML, SOAP and UDDI and related business models such as eBusiness and eWork (e.g. bcXML, ifcXML and eConstruct). The next (fifth) generation of product modelling developments will be based on the emerging semantic web standards such as OWL and RDF, and based on the concepts of ontology internationmodelling as experienced in ongoing (European) projects such as SWOP. After this historical overview, an analysis of the characteristics of interesting conceptual product approaches is presented. Here we discuss the Standardisation, Minimal Model, Core Model, NOT, Vocabulary and Ontology product modelling approaches. Followed by an analysis of a number of specific conceptual product models and how the basic product modelling constructs (i.e. semantics, lifecycle modifiers and multiple project views) are implemented. This chapter ends with a discussion about some ongoing projects (COINS, CHEOPS and SWOP) in the context of future trends.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Why are some EU industries dominated by a few firms while others are very fragmented? And does the evidence on concentration reveal anything about the competitive process in the EU? These two apparently separate questions tum out to be intimately linked. A central theme in this chapter will be that, by looking carefully at market structure, we can draw inferences about how firms in the industry compete. For example, for a given degree of economies of scale, fiercer price competition leaves room for fewer firms; so the observation of a more concentrated industry, ceteris paribus, tells us about the severity of price competition. This idea will be developed more fully in section 6.3. Part of the reason why some industries are so much more concentrated than others may lie in the degree of trade integration in the EU at the time. For example, in the last chapter we found that Type 2A industries were much less trade integrated than Type 2R. One consequence might be that firms in Type 2A industries were typically competing in a large number of small mar kets, while those in Type 2R industries were competing across the EU. If true, this would certainly affect the EU market structure. One purpose of this chap ter is to investigate the relationship between concentration and trade integ ration.

"Introduction—Contemporary Archaeology and the City: Creativity, Ruination, and Political Action". In Contemporary Archaeology and the City, a cura di Laura McAtackney e Krysta Ryzewski. Oxford University Press, 2017. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198803607.003.0007.

Abstract (sommario):
Changes in Detroit’s motor vehicle industries affect counterparts in Tokyo, struggling financial sectors in Athens rattle the economy of Dublin, construction booms in Vancouver stimulate investments by Hong Kong speculators, uprisings by Berlin artists against ‘creative’ redevelopment projects inspire protests by graffiti artists in Mexico City, and inadequate water supplies in greater Los Angeles limit the availability of imported foodstuffs for consumers in Delhi. The contemporary city is essentially an (post-)industrial, modern, and interconnected place where capitalist accumulation, growth, and decline often operate simultaneously, are experienced locally, and resonate globally leaving material traces on urban and associated hinterland landscapes. With the majority of the world’s population now dwelling in cities, historical and future-oriented urban identities face global challenges associated with the logistics and inequalities of deindustrialization. The fast pace of change in cities, as well as the tremendous scale of urban landscapes and the complexities of personal interactions with them, poses an unrivalled challenge to archaeologists whose work begins with contemporary remains. Contemporary Archaeology and the City foregrounds the archaeological study of (post-) industrial and other urban transformations through a diverse, international collection of case studies on present-day cities. The deep historical roots of citizenship in contemporary cities directly affect how communities craft notions of belonging within urban ecologies in the present. For example, the former industrial stronghold of East Belfast has experienced decades-long post-industrial economic decline alongside longstanding sectarian tensions. However, the arrival of new immigrant populations have shifted loyalist narratives in working class neighbourhoods from an identity defined by a self-conceived progressive ethos to one that asserts exclusionary material boundaries around an increasingly inward-looking, defensive community (McAtackney, Chapter 9). Meanwhile, Detroit’s built environment and cultural heritage suffer at the hands of an ongoing, decadeslong social disaster perpetuated by a constellation of political corruption, economic mismanagement, and legacies of racial conflicts. While the media perpetuates inaccurate portrayals of Detroit and other comparable cities as landscapes of abandonment, where people and built environments are increasingly absent, the contributors to this volume adopt a more nuanced approach. They envisage post-industrial cities as variably inhabited places and emergent ecologies—hybrid metropolises that expand and contract over the course of multi-generational life cycles—places that are complicated by conceptual divisions between city and nature, industry and creativity, sustainability and profitability (Millington 2013: 279; Ryzewski 2016; see Ryzewski, Chapter 3).
