Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Radio El Bayu is one of the AM radios that still exist today. This radio is also the only active radio station in Gresik. This radio, established in 1994, has a target audience of 40 years and over. In its time, this radio often held an event for the local community to build its image among the public. When many radios broadcast with FM, El Bayu remains consistent with the AM transmitter used. In fact, in Indonesia itself, it is very rare to find radio stations that still use this AM transmitter. Although the number of radio listeners has decreased, some people still choose to listen to radio channels. In this journal, we will discuss the efforts made by El Bayu Radio to retain radio listeners, considering that El Bayu still uses AM transmitters and has to compete with current digital media.

Abstract (sommario):
Radio is an under-researched medium, yet it is present in an increasing range of forms and roles in our everyday lives. For the last two decades, Australians over 18 years have listened to an average of 20 hours of radio a week. Owning multiple receivers is very much the norm and it is not unusual to hear of households with five or more radios. We wake to radio, listen to radio in our showers, go to work with radio in our cars, listen to radio while we are on telephone-hold during the day, and take radios to the beach or to sporting events to follow the commentary. Radio at home can be aural wallpaper, a source of information and entertainment and a companion, as the talkback shows demonstrate. Most of all, radio is local — or at least, it has been.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Type III radio bursts are generated by electron beams accelerated at reconnection sites in the corona. This study, utilizing data from the Parker Solar Probe’s first 17 encounters, closely examines these bursts down to 13 solar radii. A focal point of our analysis is the near-radial alignment (within 5°) of the Parker Solar Probe, STEREO-A, and Wind spacecraft relative to the Sun. This alignment, facilitating simultaneous observations of 52 and 27 bursts by STEREO-A and Wind respectively, allows for a detailed differentiation of radial and longitudinal burst variations. Our observations reveal no significant radial variations in electron beam speeds, radio fluxes, or exponential decay times for events below 50 solar radii. In contrast, closer to the Sun we noted a decrease in beam speeds and radio fluxes. This suggests potential effects of radio beaming or alterations in radio source sizes in this region. Importantly, our results underscore the necessity of considering spacecraft distance in multispacecraft observations for accurate radio burst analysis. A critical threshold of 50 solar radii emerges, beyond which beaming effects and changes in beam speeds and radio fluxes become significant. Furthermore, the consistent decay times across varying radial distances point toward a stable trend extending from 13 solar radii into the inner heliosphere. Our statistical results provide valuable insights into the propagation mechanisms of type III radio bursts, particularly highlighting the role of scattering near the radio source when the frequency aligns with the local electron plasma frequency.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose: This paper assessed social impacts of three community radio stations located in three different social-economic zones in Tanzania namely, Kilosa in the Eastern Zone, Karagwe in the Lake Victoria Zone and Orkonerei Community Radio (ORS) in the Northern Zone. Methodology: The study used cross sectional design whereby data were collected at one point in time. Purposive sampling methods were used to obtain 585 (48% female) respondents based on whether the area was well covered by community radio broadcasts or otherwise. Data were collected interview schedule, in-depth interview of key informants, systematic observations and focus group discussions. Key informants included community radio management and journalists working in the community radios. As for focus group discussions, four discussions were held (two in each community radio) with a total of 40 respondents. Findings: The study found that 51% of the respondents viewed community radio stations as enhanced access to information (news, current affairs and educational informational). On popularity, the study found that on average, community radios were more popular with local audience than other radio stations. This was due to broadcasting local contents. An analysis of sex and education levels of people who preferred community radio showed that 53.4% were men and 46.5% were women. As for education levels, 57% of those who preferred community radio broadcast had primary education followed by those without formal education at 24%. However, contrary to the theory of community radio which asserts that community radios focus on local social economic development, the study found that the most dominant theme was music and general entertainment. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study found that community radio stations have enhanced information flow (news, current affairs and education). They are also most popular with local audience compared to other radios. This indicates that if tailored to address contemporary local development issues, community radio can have huge impact. However, the study found that, the most dominant themes in studied stations was music and general entertainment. This is contrary to the theory asserting that community radio should focus on local social development issues. This calls for further investigation on circumstances leading community radios deviation from the popular theory.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
The radio frequency spectrum constitutes a limited and strategic natural resource with high economic value, so it must be managed effectively and efficiently to obtain optimal benefits by observing national and international legal principles. Radio Community Broadcasting Institution uses limited frequency allocation in three channels, namely, in the frequency channels 202 (107.7 MHz), 203 (107.8 MHz), and 204 (107.9 MHz), with limited transmit power and area coverage. The problem in this research is the frequency overlap with other community radios in an area. The issue raised is whether it is possible to establish a new community radio in the Batang Regency area by paying attention to existing radios that have licenses in districts/cities that are in the area directly adjacent to Batang Regency by considering the limited allocation of radio frequency channels community, without the occurrence of radio frequency interference with other community radios. The purpose of this research is to solve these problems. It is necessary to have a policy in determining radio frequency users to get good quality radio broadcast reception. The method used is to analyze the frequency determination technique based on the interference analysis on other community broadcasters. By using the Radio Mobile Software for frequency repetition simulation, in this research, the results show that Batang FM Community Radio does not allow to get frequency channels for community radio operations. After all, it interferes with the Service Area of Soneta FM Radio in Pekalongan City because it does not meet the requirements for determining the frequency channel = Eu> NF, namely the Nuisance Field (NF) value of 109.7 dB is greater than the Minimum Usable Field strength (Eu) of 66 dB. In comparison, Limpung FM Radio gets radio frequency on channel 203 (frequency 107.8 MHz) because it meets the requirements for determining the frequency channel = Eu> NF, namely the Minimum Usable Field strength (Eu) 66 dB greater than the Nuisance Field (NF) of 55.7 dB.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper endeavors to exploit the extent to which the radio spectrum can be utilized by almagating and enhancing various methods proposed by previous researchers in the field. Cognitive radio research addresses the challenge of spectrum scarcity and underutilization through cognitive radio technology. The realm of cognitive radio research encompasses diverse aspects of its architecture, ranging from spectrum sensing to higher-level strategies. Notably, the navigation strategy employed by cognitive radios constitutes a pivotal layer in these implementations. Thus, this paper focuses on the real-time implementation of a cognitive radio node in a spectrum of licensed users. Leveraging the capabilities of software-defined radios, GNU Radio, GStreamer and Ubuntu OS computers, this investigation introduces a streamlined channel strategy. This strategy uses both short-term and long-term historical data, along with a buffering mechanism, to facilitate the real-time transmission of a high-definition video signal. The successful implementation of this system yields a promising enhancement of approximately 32% in radio resource utilization. Furthermore, the sensing time of the cognitive radio experiences a significant reduction. This research contributes to the advancement of cognitive radio technology and demonstrates the consolidated strategies' practical implications, underscoring their potential to overcome spectrum-related challenges.

Abstract (sommario):
Kata kunci: Radio, format, programing, audiens, She Radio, PandowoAbstractRecently, the various options of media, either printed, television, or, even, internet media, the radio remains as alternative media with its own audience's characteristic. Therefore, the 'multitasking' radio turns the radio's manager to keep up providing interesting broadcasting programs for its listener. It is a common thing as a radio, particularly a private radio makes some changes of their programs in fulfilling the listener and market demand as well. Since the triangle concept of successful in a private radio relies on synchronization of program and listener, then, eventually, impacts on advertising achievement. Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT Why are streaming and podcast platforms beyond the traditional radio cabin central for indigenous radios? Mexico has about seventy-three indigenous radios. The P'urhépecha region in Michoacán has more than a dozen indigenous broadcasting projects, some of which have turned to streaming and podcasts as alternatives to counter infringement on their sovereignty. Indigenous radios have inserted the radio into internal communal processes while exercising their right to technological sovereignty. From a community-engaged participatory approach in Huecorio, Michoacán, through the lens of technological sovereignty and Comunalidad, this article argues that indigenous radios affirm their right to preserve, revitalize, and reclaim their languages, cultures, and identities through technology and innovation. This article also discusses the experiences of indigenous radios in Michoacán within a broader context of indigenous radios in Mexico to then analyze the podcast project by Radio Uekorheni in Michoacán as a platform that fosters technological sovereignty, communal-based practices, and language revival.

Abstract (sommario):
This article analyses the possibility offered by the Internet to select radio content to build customized radios. Each internet user could select radio content, replacing the traditional radio stations that have always broadcasted. Previous results from our investigations are presented to allow us to compare the still-existing traditional radio to some of the offers on the Internet. Such a comparison will allow us to determine two different ways of listening to the radio on the Internet: the usual one, which allows the coexistence of listening and any parallel social practice (work, driving, etc.), and another one, appropriate to the internet, that adds visual attention to hearing. It is unavoidable to consider this as a loss compared to the visual independence that radio has always allowed.

Abstract (sommario):
Québec City’s talk radio stations have been the subject of controversy for decades. For nearly 10 years now, consistent grassroots efforts have been made to regulate the media discourse that circulates in the city. The coalition Sortons les radios-poubelles (which can be translated as Let’s Take Out the Trash Radios) has created an online archive that compiles thousands of audio documents about this controversial radio style. With a few postings per day both on its website and on social media, the coalition’s media activists put into context—sometimes with a mocking, ironic, and provoking tone—the deprecating remarks of radio hosts. In the course of recent events, these activists are now being prosecuted for their criticism of the trash radio culture. This commentary highlights the main aspects of the archival practice of these media activists. It seems important to recognize these alternative archival practices for social justice, for media regulation, as well as for understanding a social phenomenon over time.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT This article is about community radio in Indonesia, and highlighting the huge potentiality as a medium for health communication relevant with the context of local community. The main focus is to community radio stations in the region of Pantura, West Java. Through field observation and interview with the management of the community radios, this article shows the community radio’s strategy and operation to struggle in their daily local community activities. When traditional communities are dying destroyed by the excesses of free market liberalism, community radio becomes the space to maintain the sense of local closeness, and when liberalization in health can be seen to local levels, community radio promises spaces to share, to make dialog, that grows self-awareness and joint perception concerning local reality appears from inside the community itself. The involvement of community in the management and programs put forward the communal point of view, overcoming government’s point of view, which is very needed to deliver complexity of the programs and promotions related with community health issues in a language comprehensible by poor and low-educated communities. Theoretical discussions concerning health communication explain that the existence of community radios is supposed to encourage health intervention models to be more democratic and sensitive towards the communities. Therefore, in the efforts to make the heterogeneous Indonesian people healthy, the empowerment of community radios and health communication perspective with local culture basis are important agenda.

Abstract (sommario):
The paper describes the influence of power electronics, energy processing, and emergency radio systems (ERS) immunity testing on onboard aircraft equipment and ground stations providing air traffic services. The implementation of next-generation power electronics introduces potential hazards for the safety and reliability of aircraft systems, especially the interferences from power electronics with high-power processing. The paper focuses on clearly identifying, experimentally verifying, and quantifiably measuring the effects of power electronics processing using switching modes versus the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of emergency radio systems with electromagnetic interference (EMI). EMI can be very critical when switching power radios utilize backup receivers, which are used as aircraft backup systems or airport last-resort systems. The switching power electronics process produces interfering electromagnetic energy to create problems with onboard aircraft radios or instrument landing system (ILS) avionics services. Analyses demonstrate significant threats and risks resulting from interferences between radio and power electronics in airborne systems. Results demonstrate the impact of interferences on intermediate-frequency processing, namely, for very high frequency (VHF) radios. The paper also describes the methodology of testing radio immunity against both weak and strong signals in accordance with recent aviation standards and guidance for military radio communication systems in the VHF band.

Abstract (sommario):
Previous researches on radio convergence showed that various radio stations in Ponorogo have implemented convergence by using new media platforms, such as, radio and video streaming, Youtube, and social media. However, evaluations on radio convergence has never been done before. Therefore, this research was conducted to study the effect of convergence to the listenership as well as to evaluate the implementation of radio-convergence in Ponorogo radio stations from April to July 2019. Using a survey method, the researchers administered a set of questionnaires to 267 respondents in Ponorogo to find out the listenership trends in Ponorogo community on its radio and other convergence platforms. The results of the study showed that the convergence implemented by the radios failed to raise awareness and number of radio listeners. Low awareness affects the community’s media habit. It was apparent in the fact that 84% of the respondents preferred conventional (analog) radio to a convergence platform. The results of this study also showed that convergence was unable to foster community involvement with radio. In other words, the radio was not the primary choice of the Ponorogo community in accessing information or entertainment.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractCompared with other public media, the colonial state showed a relative lack of interest in radio broadcasting, which developed in Vietnam in the 1930s under the aegis of two organizations based in Hanoi and Saigon, the Radio-Club de l'Indochine du Nord and Radio Saigon. These two groups were largely responsible for the new technology's expansion and for determining the content of broadcasting. The groups actively consulted the growing radio public, and that vocal audience played a role in determining not just what was heard but also in the social life of radio in late-colonial Vietnam. The content of radio was limited to a non-political domain and this fact, along with the particular position that many radios took in the social geography of towns and cities, lent itself to the easy entry of the radio into day-to-day life. Indeed, the early history of radio in Vietnam is remarkable for how rapidly it became commonplace, even banal.

Abstract (sommario):
The deregulation of broadcasting in 1985 Finland introduced competition between two different systems: the European public service tradition and American commercial radio. Because of the rivalry the music contents were changed both in commercial stations and in the publicly funded YLE (Finnish Broadcasting Company). Freedom of speech, musically diverse, unconventional and almost uncontrolled program policies dominated radio from the mid1980s. Five years later the form and content were changed. Special music programs hosted by individual disc jockeys were converted to streamlined broadcasting and the variety of music genres diminished. American-style format radios were introduced with automated music control, rotation clocks, playlists and audience music testing. The changes were fostered by the increased competition caused by the change of broadcasting regulations, the unexpected economic recession and technical innovations such as automated music jukeboxes. These business policies form the foundation on which contemporary Finnish commercial radio still rests. The article deals with the change of music culture of the early 1990’s commercial radios. It focuses on the following main questions: How was the process of music selection and radio music management changed? What were the economic, technological, organisational and cultural constraints that regulated the radio business and especially radio music in 1990s Finland? The questions will be answered by empirical data consisting of interviews with the radio station personnel in the 1990s and music copyright reports supported by printed archive material.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractTo this date ψ Per is the only classical Be star that was angularly resolved in radio (by the VLA at λ = 2 cm). Gaussian fit to the azimuthally averaged visibility data indicates a disk size (FWHM) of ~500 stellar radii (Dougherty & Taylor 1992). Recently, we obtained new multi-band cm flux density measurements of ψ Per from the enhanced VLA. We modeled the observed spectral energy distribution (SED) covering the interval from ultraviolet to radio using the Monte Carlo radiative transfer code HDUST (Carciofi & Bjorkman 2006). An SED turndown, that occurs between far-IR and radio wavelengths, is explained by a truncated viscous decretion disk (VDD), although the shallow slope of the radio SED suggests that the disk is not simply cut off, as is assumed in our model. The best-fit size of a truncated disk derived from the modeling of the radio SED is 100+5−15 stellar radii, which is in striking contrast with the result of Dougherty & Taylor (1992). The reasons for this discrepancy are under investigation.

Abstract (sommario):
Community Radio (CR) in Indonesia has emerged as a media that able to disseminate information to audience. Since this function can not be fullfiled by both private and public radios, CR is important for audience especially for those who lives in remote or even blank spot area. However, Government regulation on CR is feared to deprive the existence of CR. The regulation ranging from limitation of frequency allocation, criteria on coverage area and limited emmitance strength compare to public and private radios. This imply that the Government has never supported the existence of Community Radio. Government and Indonesia Broadcasting Commistion (KPI), as the powerful bodies, ought to reevaluate broadcasting regulation especially on Community Radio. Reformulation on the regulation is needed to maximilize the function of CR in Indonesia as independent media and to support democratization in the broadcasting system in Indonesia.

Abstract (sommario):
Because of numerous dormant application fields, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) have emerged as an important and novel area in radio and mobile computing research. These applications range from enclosed system configurations in the home and office to alfresco enlistment in an opponent’s landmass in a strategic flashpoint. Cognitive radio networks (CRNs) can be created by integrating radio link capabilities with network layer operations utilizing cognitive radios. The goal of CRN design is to optimize the general system operations to meet customer requirements at any location worldwide by much more efficiently addressing CRNs instead of simply connecting spectrum utilization. When compared to conventional radio networks, CRNs are more versatile and susceptible to wireless connections. Recent advancements in wireless communication have resulted in increasing spectrum scarcity. As a modern innovation, cognitive radio aims to tackle this challenge by proactively utilizing the spectrum. Because cognitive radio (CR) technology gives assailants additional possibilities than a normal wireless network, privacy in a CRN becomes a difficult challenge. We concentrate on examining the surveillance system at a societal level, in which both defense and monitoring are critical components in assuring the channel’s privacy. The current state of investigation into spectrum sensing and potential risks in cognitive radios is reviewed in this study.

This article explores the use of local languages in the broadcasting world on community radio in Southeast Sulawesi in conveying messages to listeners so that they are more easily accepted. This paper takes the case of community radio in Konawe, Buton and Wakatobi districts. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method (Moeloeng, 2005). Data collection techniques are used by collecting secondary data and primary data. Secondary data was obtained through document collection from community radios in Southeast Sulawesi. Furthermore, primary data was obtained through the researcher's field notes and the results of interviews with informants. Again, the collected data is sorted and then selected using triangulation techniques. The use of local languages in the broadcasting world, from the results of research that has been carried out by community radios in Southeast Sulawesi, namely Suara Marannu Radio on Saponda Island, Pasihuang FM Radio in Mekar Village, Soropia District which uses the Bajo language, Talombo FM Radio on Tomia Wakatobi Island which uses the Indonesian language Tomia, and Sinar Lapandewa Radio in Buton which uses Cia-Cia language. Use of Local Languages in broadcasting activities. Efforts made by community radio managers to oblige broadcasters to use regional languages are nothing but a filter against the presence of slang, Alay and Jakarta accents which are widely used by broadcasters in greeting young people in Indonesia which will certainly cause the next generation to be foreign. in his own language.

Cognitive radios are expected to play an important role in capturing the constantly growing traffic interest on remote networks. To improve the usage of the radio range, a cognitive radio hub detects the weather, evaluates the open-air qualities, and then makes certain decisions and distributes the executives’ space assets. The cognitive radio works in tandem with artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence methodologies to provide a flexible and intelligent allocation for continuous production cycles. The purpose is to provide a single source of information in the form of a survey research to enable academics better understand how artificial intelligence methodologies, such as fuzzy logics, genetic algorithms, and artificial neural networks, are used to various cognitive radio systems. The various artificial intelligence approaches used in cognitive radio engines to improve cognition capabilities in cognitive radio networks are examined in this study. Computerized reasoning approaches, such as fuzzy logic, evolutionary algorithms, and artificial neural networks, are used in the writing audit. This topic also covers cognitive radio network implementation and the typical learning challenges that arise in cognitive radio systems.

Abstract (sommario):
THE ROLE OF THE COMMUNITY RADIO WITHIN THE DIGITAL COMMUNICATION ABSTRACT The purpose of this article is to examine and explain the role of community radio stations, within digital communication, determining the technical, legal and sustainability challenges they face, in the context of changes and adjustments in the digital era. The methodology followed for the final writing of this article consisted in focusing methodologically in a qualitative, exploratory and descriptive way, the perception of the role of community radio in digital communication by the authors of related works and published in journals indexed in SCIELO. The bibliographic review shows that what some authors call non-formal education, has represented a heterogeneous radio proposal that affects the panorama is not so daunting in terms of the use of digital platform tools by community radio stations, although they are urged to adopt training that allows them to build and evolve in a planned manner in terms of participatory digital communication strategies, in accordance with the tools provided by modern digital platforms. KEYWORDS: Radio; digital communication; community radio; culture; social radio.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This research deals with the uses of abuses of FM radios in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and the recently merged districts – former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) during the period ranging from 2003 to 2018. Radio is the most effective mean of mass communication. The rapid increase in FM radios and its cheap and easy operation was a source of attraction for many to disseminate their message. The use of FM radio has been on the rapid rise for the last nearly two decades, both for propaganda, political and commercial purposes. The government, private entities and some anti-state elements have made effective use of this media tool. This study analyses the role of government and non-state actors’ launched FM radio stations, which include both the legal stations and the pirated or illegal ones. The objectives and functions of Government run FM radio have been discussed. The use of the FM radio for promotion of Islamic teachings has also been thoroughly looked into. Its use by different militant outfits for propagating their message has also been covered. The commercial use of the tool by private entities has also been taken into account.

Abstract (sommario):
The intence radio competition in Yogyakarta requires radios to have a strategy in maintaining their existence in this digitalized era. A good marketing communication strategy is needed to attract the attention of both listeners and advertisers. Delta FM radio as a network radio certainly has challenges in competing with other competitor radios in Yogyakarta. To maintain its existence, Delta FM radio requires the right marketing communication strategy. This study aims to determine the marketing communication strategy of Delta FM Yogyakarta in maintaining its existence in D.I.Yogyakarta. This study uses Planning theory by Berger, Marketing Communication Mix, and analysis of Segmenting, Targeting, and Positioning (S-T-P). The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The results showed that in determining the marketing communication strategy, Delta FM Yogyakarta carried out 3 stages, namely the planning stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. In its implementation, Delta FM uses 5 stages of marketing communication mix, such as Advertising, Sales Promotion, Public Relations, Personal Selling and Direct Selling.

Abstract (sommario):
Hercules A is an unusual radio source in that its structure is dominated (most specifically on the western side of the source) by an undulating chain of discrete "rings" of radio emission, whose individual radii increase progressively with distance from the nuclear core while their apparent separation decreases. In the theoretical model presented here, these interesting radio features are presumed to be due to emission from a discrete set of ram-pressure confined plasmoids that have been periodically ejected by a precessing nuclear engine. The predicted deceleration and expansion of these ram-pressure confined plasmoids provides an excellent fit to the observed spacing and radii of the radio rings observed on the western side of Hercules A. Furthermore, a satisfactory fit to the morphology of the undulating eastern jet can also be achieved using this discrete ejection model, providing the eastward ejections alternate with the westward ejections, thus implying a form of flip-flop behavior for this particular source.
