Abstract (sommario):
To explore the influence of the parturients' mental factors on the delivery mode and postpartum hemorrhage and the nursing intervention countermeasures, the research randomly divided the expectant primiparae hospitalized in our hospital during February 2012–February 2013 into the intervention group and the control group. Wherein, the control group received routine nursing, while the intervention group received nursing intervention based on the routine nursing, to compare the postpartum hemorrhage and satisfaction of the two groups of parturients. Result: 36 of 112 parturients suffered from dysphoria, accounting for 32.14%; 37 parturSients suffered from depression, accounting for 33.04%. The parturients' hemorrhage incidence, postpartum amount of bleeding within 2 h and postpartum amount of bleeding within 24 h all significantly declined compared with those of the control group (x2/t = 3.98, 4.02, 4.96 p < 0.05). The cesarean rate of the control group (7.14%, 4/56) was significantly higher than that of the control group (16.07%, 9/56) (x2 = 4.02 p < 0.05). The postpartum satisfaction of the patients in the intervention group was apparently higher than that of the control group (x2 = 4.26 p < 0.05). Conclusion: The nursing intervention can obviously reduce the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and improve postpartum satisfaction, so it is worth popularizing.

Abstract (sommario):
An inventory was developed to measure residents' perceptions of the quality of nursing home service. The content domain and dimensions of the inventory were derived from actual comments of nursing home residents. Independent studies employing a multiple-facility sample of 103 residents and 194 residents from a single institution supported a four-factor structure of the quality of nursing home service—Staff and Environmental Responsiveness, Dependability and Trust, Food-related Services and Resources, and Personal Control. The data provide preliminary support for the measure's reliability and validity so it may be used to study the antecedents and consequences of quality in nursing home service from the residents' perspective.

Abstract (sommario):
Background The operating room has always been a key clinical inspection high-risk department. The “;Detailed Rules for the Implementation of Evaluation Standards for Tertiary General Hospitals” issued by the Ministry of Health in 2011 emphasized the establishment of operating room quality and safety indicators, which can be evaluated regularly, and continuous improvement is required. The nursing level of nurses in the room is directly related to the overall nursing quality of the hospital. Objective To observe the impact of detailed nursing in operating room based on risk management on surgical patient satisfaction and intraoperative risk control. Methods A retrospective selection of 130 patients who were treated in the operating room of our hospital from January 2018 to March 2020 was retrospectively selected. Among them, 65 patients used conventional operating room nursing procedures, and the other 65 patients used risk management-based operating room detailed nursing procedures. The intraoperative rescue, secondary intubation, incidence of > 3 h in room, nursing error rate, postoperative general situation (recovery time of bowel sounds, first exhaust time, ambulation time, postoperative complication rate) and satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Visual analogue scale (VAS) score was used to evaluate the degree of postoperative pain. Nursing quality score and health survey short form (SF-36) were used to evaluate nursing quality and quality of life. Results: Intraoperative rescue (0.00%), secondary intubation (0.00%), in-room> 3h incidence (1.54%) and nursing error rate (0.00%) in the observation group were compared with those in the control group, which were not statistically significant (P >0.05). The recovery time of bowel sounds in the observation group was (41.71 ±3.46) h, the time to first exhaust (59.47±5.23) h, and the time to get out of bed (54.36±4.78) d were shorter than those in the control group. The postoperative complication rate (3.08%) was lower than that of the control group, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). The VAS scores of the observation group at 6h, 12h, and 24h after surgery were lower than those of the control group, and the satisfaction level of the observation group (93.85%) was higher than that of the control group, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). Observation group’s nursing quality score (nursing skills, environmental management, nursing quality monitoring, disinfection and isolation, nursing document management), quality of life score (physical function, social support, pain, mental health, social function, mood, mental state, general health) All were higher than the control group, which had statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion: The application of operation room detail nursing based on risk management in surgery can reduce postoperative pain, promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function, improve patient satisfaction and quality of life, and effectively control intraoperative risks.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Objectives Nursing homes (NH) confronted tremendous difficulties considering confirmed residents Covid-19 cases and deaths in the U.S. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) applies the Five-Star Quality Rating (FSQR) to indicate the quality of care in nursing homes based on health inspection surveys, staffing as well as care process and resident outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to examine whether FSQR was related to the total number of NH resident Covid-19 cases and deaths.Design This study analyzed 6,978 nursing homes across the country with data from CMS Nursing Home Compare, CMS COVID-19 Nursing Home Public File, Long-term Care Focus, Payroll Based Journal, Rural-Urban Commuting Area. Negative binomial regressions were used to investigate associations between FSQR and NH COIVD-19 outcomes controlling for state fixed effects and clustering of nursing homes within counties. The characteristics of facility, residents, payer-mix, nursing staff, and geographic location were also controlled. ResultsComparing to NH with 1-star in Health Inspection, Staffing, or Overall ratings, NH with better performance have lower risk of having increased number of COVID cases and deaths among residents. Further, nursing home Quality Measures rating is not significantly associated with residents’ COVID-19 deaths. ConclusionOverall, the FSQR is a useful measure of quality in part when investigating NH’s performance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Future policymakers should pay special attention to providers performing poorly in FSQR when improving the quality of nursing homes, particularly regarding infection control.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose – This study aims to fathom the role of nursing governance as a mechanism to activate the chain effect from corporate social responsibility (CSR) through psychological contract to knowledge sharing, which in turn reduces clinical errors in hospitals in the Vietnam context. Clinical errors not merely result from human factors but also from mechanisms which influence human factors. Design/methodology/approach – The clues for the research model were established through structural equation modeling-based analysis of cross-sectional data from 233 nurses of Vietnam-based hospitals. Findings – Research findings unveiled the positive correlation between nursing governance and ethical CSR as well as the negative correlations between nursing governance and legal CSR or economic CSR. Ethical CSR was found to have positive effect on psychological contract, whereas legal or economic CSR was found to have negative effect on psychological contract. The chain effects from psychological contract through knowledge sharing to clinical error control were also attested in this inquiry. Originality/value – Research results have contributed to literature in some ways, for example, expanding health-care quality and patient safety literature through the chain of antecedents (nursing governance, CSR, psychological contract and knowledge sharing) to clinical error control, underscoring the role of psychological contract in cultivating knowledge sharing and adding organizational outcomes such as knowledge sharing and clinical error control to the nursing governance literature.

Abstract (sommario):
This study tests the effects of nursing home staff training in care for the dying on the quality of life of terminally ill patients. Ten matched community nursing homes were assigned randomly to experimental (training) or control (no training) conditions. Patients ( N = 306) admitted to the homes were assessed at admission, one month, and three months concerning quality of life as measured by depression, alienation, self-esteem, and locus of control. Satisfaction with care was also measured at one and three months. Patients in trained homes had less depression and greater satisfaction with care than patients in control homes at one and three months. Training effects were similar in all of the five homes. The study shows that a favorable impact on patient care can be achieved when staff in nursing homes are trained to work with dying patients.

Abstract (sommario):
Objectives: This study examined the factors associated with better accreditation outcomes among nursing homes. Method: A total of 538 nursing homes in Taiwan were included in this study. Measures included accreditation scores, external factors (household income, Herfindahl–Hirschman Index, old-age dependency ratio, population density, and number of older adult households), organizational factors (hospital-based status, chain-affiliated status, occupancy rate, the number of registered nurses or nurse aides per bed, and bed size), and internal factors (accountability, deficiencies, person-centered care, nursing skills, quality control, and integrated care). Results: Bed size, hospital-based status, accountability, deficiencies, person-centered care, nursing skills, quality control, and integrated care were found to predict accreditation. Conclusion: Among all variables in this study, the quality indicators contributed to the most variation, followed by organizational factors. External environmental factors played a minor role in predicting accreditation. A focus on quality of care would benefit not only the residents of a nursing home but also facilitate its accreditation.
