This article discusses gender justice in divorce rights in QS. an-Nisa verses 128 - 130 from the perspective of understanding mub is Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir. The purpose of this study was to determine the interpretation of QS. Al-Nisa verses 128 -130 according to Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir and the concept of divorce rights in the frame of gender justice perspective mafhum mub is Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir. The method used in this research is qualitative using the approach of Jorge G Gracia's Hermeneutic Theory of Interpretation. The results of this study indicate that the interpretation of the right to divorce in QS. an-Nisa verses 128 -130 according to Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir are about the husband's turning away from his wife (Surat al-Nisa: 128), polygamy (Surat al-Nisa: 129), and the way to ask for a divorce (Surat al-Nisa: 130). Therefore understanding mub is to use the interpretation of the QS. Al-Nisa verse 128 - 130, Faqihuddin Abdul Kodir in accordance with the principles of gender justice, namely placing women and men in their rights, without hurting himself, the children and also the family around him

A partir de registros analógicos en papel ahumado, obtenidos de un estudio de microsismicidad realizado en el Istmo de Tehuantepec en 1986, se determinan los espesores de la corteza terrestre en dicha zona. De la observación de fases Sp (S convertida a P) se infiere la posición de la interface que produjo las conversiones. Asimismo, de las amplitudes de las fases Sp y S, se estima el valor de los coeficientes de calidad Qs y Qp, en la corteza. Se consideran dos posibilidades: Qp = Qs y Qp =2Qs. Se obtuvo una estructura de corteza típicamente continental con un grosor promedio de 36 ± 3.2 km y una discontinuidad intermedia a una profundidad media de 22 ± 23 km. Los coeficientes de calidad del medio para la corteza por debajo de la red sismológica, son: Qs =76 (Qp = Qs) ó Qs =130 (Qp = 2Qs).doi: sin doi

Penelitian membahas mengenai ragam makna “jangan” dalam QS. Ali ‘Imran kajian Semantik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menemukan kata “jangan” yang terdapat pada QS. Ali ‘Imran , dan untuk menentukan ragam atau bentuk makna lain dari kata “jangan” dalam QS. Ali ‘Imran. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis penelitian kepustakaan dengan menggunakan pendekatan semantik. Sumber data primer yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Al-Qur’an dan Terjemahannya, beberapa tafsir masyhur. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan yakni tekni baca dan catat. Sedangkan, analisis data dalam penelitian ini dengan menerapkan analisis deskriptif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ragam makna “jangan” dalam QS. Ali’Imran dapat dikategorikan menjadi beberapa ragam yaitu; larangan bermakna Do’a terdapat pada ayat 8 dan ayat 194, larangan bermakna Irsyad terdapat pada ayat 28, ayat 60, ayat 73, ayat 102, ayat 103, ayat 105, ayat 118, ayat 130, ayat 156, ayat 176, ayat 196 , larangan bermaknaa Bayanu al-Aqibah terdapat pada ayat 169,ayat 178, ayat 180, ayat 188 , larangan bermakna I’tinas terdapat pada ayat 139,dan larangan bermakna Taubikh terdapat pada ayat 175 dan ayat 187. Ditemukannya berbagai ragam makna “jangan” yang terkandung dalam QS. Ali-‘Imran menunjukkan bahwa ragam larangan tersebut merupakan contoh yang Allah tunjukkan kepada manusia, agar manusia bisa mengambil hikmah dari ayat-ayat tersebut. Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease that causes significant negative impacts on the animal industry and affects over half a million people worldwide every year. The limited safety and efficacy of current animal brucellosis vaccines, combined with the lack of a licensed human brucellosis vaccine, have led researchers to search for new vaccine strategies to combat the disease. To this end, the present research aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a green vaccine candidate that combines Brucella abortus S19 smooth lipopolysaccharide (sLPS) with Quillaja saponin (QS) or QS-Xyloglucan mix (QS-X) against mucosal brucellosis in BALB/C mice. The results of the study indicate that administering two doses of either sLPS-QS or sLPS-QS-X was safe for the animals, triggered a robust immune response, and enhanced protection following intranasal challenge with S19. Specifically, the vaccine combinations led to the secretion of IgA and IgG1 in the BALF of the immunized mice. We also found a mixed IgG1/IgG2a systemic response indicating evidence of both Th1 and Th2 activation, with a predominance of the IgG1 over the IgG2a. These candidates resulted in significant reductions in the bioburden of lung, liver, and spleen tissue compared to the PBS control group. The sLPS-QS vaccination had conferred the greatest protection, with a 130-fold reduction in Brucella burdens in lung and a 55.74-fold reduction in the spleen compared to PBS controls. Vaccination with sLPS-QS-X resulted in the highest reduction in splenic Brucella loads, with a 364.6-fold decrease in bacterial titer compared to non-vaccinated animals. The study suggests that the tested vaccine candidates are safe and effective in increasing the animals’ ability to respond to brucellosis via mucosal challenge. It also supports the use of the S19 challenge strain as a safe and cost-effective method for testing Brucella vaccine candidates under BSL-2 containment conditions.

Pressure-based fractional flow reserve (FFR) is used clinically to evaluate the functional severity of a coronary stenosis, by predicting relative maximal coronary flow (Qs/Qn). It is considered to be independent of hemodynamic conditions, which seems unlikely because stenosis resistance is flow dependent. Using a resistive model of an epicardial stenosis (0–80% diameter reduction) in series with the coronary microcirculation at maximal vasodilation, we evaluated FFR for changes in coronary microvascular resistance ( R cor= 0.2–0.6 mmHg · ml−1 · min), aortic pressure (Pa = 70–130 mmHg), and coronary outflow pressure (Pb = 0–15 mmHg). For a given stenosis, FFR increased with decreasing Pa or increasing R cor. The sensitivity of FFR to these hemodynamic changes was highest for stenoses of intermediate severity. For Pb > 0, FFR progressively exceeded Qs/Qn with increasing stenosis severity unless Pb was included in the calculation of FFR. Although the Pb-corrected FFR equaled Qs/Qn for a given stenosis, both parameters remained equally dependent on hemodynamic conditions, through their direct relationship to both stenosis and coronary resistance.

Aeromonas hydrophila is a Gram-negative bacterium that widely exists in various aquatic environments and causes septicemia in fish and humans. Resveratrol, a natural polyterpenoid product, has potential chemo-preventive and antibacterial properties. In this study, we investigated the effect of resveratrol on A. hydrophila biofilm formation and motility. The results demonstrated that resveratrol, at sub-MIC levels, can significantly inhibit the biofilm formation of A. hydrophila, and the biofilm was decreased with increasing concentrations. The motility assay showed that resveratrol could diminish the swimming and swarming motility of A. hydrophila. Transcriptome analyses (RNA-seq) showed that A. hydrophila treated with 50 and 100 μg/mL resveratrol, respectively, presented 230 and 308 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 90 or 130 upregulated genes and 130 or 178 downregulated genes. Among them, genes related to flagellar, type IV pilus and chemotaxis were significantly repressed. In addition, mRNA of virulence factors OmpA, extracellular proteases, lipases and T6SS were dramatically suppressed. Further analysis revealed that the major DEGs involved in flagellar assembly and bacterial chemotaxis pathways could be regulated by cyclic-di-guanosine monophosphate (c-di-GMP)- and LysR-Type transcriptional regulator (LTTR)-dependent quorum sensing (QS) systems. Overall, our results indicate that resveratrol can inhibit A. hydrophila biofilm formation by disturbing motility and QS systems, and can be used as a promising candidate drug against motile Aeromonad septicemia.

Bunga bank sangat erat dengan konsep riba. Riba dibicarakan oleh al-Qur’an melalui empat tahapan, mirip dengan pertahapan pengharaman khamr (minuman keras). Tahap pertama sekedar menggambarkan adanya unsur negatif, yaitu surat al-Rum ayat 39. Kemudian disusul dengan isyarat tentang keharamannya (QS. Al-Nisa’: 161). Selanjutnya pada tahap ketiga, secara tegas dinyatakan keharaman salah satu bentuknya, yaitu yang berlipat ganda (QS. Ali 'Imran: 130). Terakhir, pengharaman total dan dalam berbagai bentuknya yaitu pada QS. Al-Baqarah 275-279. Islam melarang bunga bank (riba) dengan beberapa alasan, antara lain: pertama, karena Allah dan Rasul-Nya melarang atau mengharamkannya. Kedua, karena bunga bank menghendaki pengambilan harta orang lain dengan tidak ada imbalannya (batil). Ketiga, dengan melakukan praktik ‘membungakan” uang, orang menjadi malas berusaha yang sah menurut shara'. Keempat, bila praktik ini sudah mendarahdaging pada seseorang, maka orang tersebut lebih suka beternak uang, karena ternak uang akan mendapatkan keuntungan yang lebih besar dari pada dagang dan dikerjakan dengan tidak susah payah. Kelima, membungakan uang menyebabkan putusnya perbuatan baik terhadap sesama manusia dengan cara hutang-piutang atau menghilangkan faidah hutang-piutang, maka riba lebih cenderung memeras orang miskin daripada menolong orang miskin.

Maqashidi interpretation is able to provide new breakthroughs in the approach to understanding the Qur'an. The development of this study continues to be of interest. Maqashidi interpretation as a philosophy of interpretation will give a new spirit, not only in the product of the interpretation of the Qur'an, but also in the process of interpretation. The term maqashidi is not a new term because it was previously used in relation to shari'ah (maqashid as-Shari'ah). This is very much in accordance with the statement of the Qur'an which is pious kulli zaman wa makan. Maqashidi interpretation is generally used in interpreting legal verses. In this article, we discuss two focuses. First, how is the commentator's interpretation of the QS. An-Nisa'[4] verse 3, 128-130. Second, how is the application and analysis of maqashidi interpretation in QS. An-Nisa'[4] verses 128-130. The method that the author uses is the thematic method, which is discussing the verses based on a set theme. Aims to gain a focused understanding of the reinterpretation of polygamous verses with a review of maqashidi interpretations. This article is expected to be able to contribute to the Indonesian Muslim community in understanding the verses about the law contained in this polygamy and monogamy theme.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui praktik dari distribusi modal usaha dari rentenir ke pedagang, pandangan pedagang terhadap praktik penyakuran modal usaha dari rentenir, dan faktor-faktor peminjaman modal kepada rentenir. Penelitian deskriptif merupakan jenis penelitian yang digunakan, dimana pendekatannya adalah fenomenologi dan empiris, jenis data yaitu data primer dan sekunder. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data adalah wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Selanjutnya uji keabsahan data dengan triangulasi. Kemudian dianalisis dengan model interaksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) pendistribusian modal usaha dari rentenir ke pedagang yang ada di pasar induk Wonomulyo, ada tiga model penyaluran dilakukan pertama pihak rentenir ke pasar tempat pedagang berjualan, kedua pihak rentenir mendatangi rumah pedagang yang mengeluh kekurangan modal dan menawarkan pinjaman kepada pedagang dengan tidak menggunakan jaminan dan ketiga pihak pedagang yang mendatangi alamat tempat tinggal rumah rentenir skarena mengenal rentenir tersebut (2) pandangan pedagang terbagi 2 ada yang menganggap bahwa meminjam uang kerentenir sangat membantu usaha mereka karena dengan bantuan modal yang ada tanpa jaminan dan ada juga mengatakan bahwa meminjam kerentenir uang sama saja meminjam uang di bank karena sama-sama menetapkan bunga pengembalian. Selain pedagang lain menggangap meminjam kerentenir adalah dosa sesuai dengan firman Allah SWT dalam QS. Ar Ruum:39, QS An Nisaa:160-161, QS Ali Imran:130 dan QS Al Baqarah:278 dan juga jebakan yang dibuat oleh rentenir seolah-olah membantu padahal menjerat orang-orang yang mendapatkan kesusahaan untuk diri sendiri; dan (3) peminjaman modal ke rentenir karena kondisi yang memaksa dimana pedagang membutuhkan modal dan faktor selanjutnya kemudahan dalam memberikan pinjaman.

يشكل التقدم في التكنولوجيا والمعلومات تهديدا لشخصية جيل الأمة. وتوضح بيانات لجنة حماية الطفل الإندونيسية أن عدد الأطفال ضحايا الجرائم الجنسية يبلغ 314 طفلا، في حين يبلغ عدد الأطفال ضحايا العنف الجسدي والنفسي 130 حالة. إحدى أشكال العبادة التي يمكن أن تؤثر على أخلاق الشخص هي الصلاة، وهذا موضح في سورة الأنجبوت الآية 45. الهدف من هذا البحث هو وصف دراسة تفسير سورة الأنجبوت الآية 45 من وجهات نظر مختلفة في الحفاظ على الأطفال. شخصية. يستخدم هذا البحث أساليب البحث المكتبي التي تم جمعها من خلال الكتب والموسوعات والقواميس والمجلات والوثائق والمجلات وما إلى ذلك. وفي هذا البحث يتبين أن الصلاة على الوجه الصحيح تمنع مرتكبها من الوقوع في المعاصي والمنكرات، وذلك لظهور نور في القلب يمنعه من الاقتراب من المعصية ويوجهه إلى أعمال الرب. في مواجهة تحديات اليوم، يمكن الحفاظ على شخصية الأطفال من خلال توفير التنوير حول الصلاة، والتعلم عن الصلاة وممارستها بشكل جيد.

Homogeneous or uniform crystalline materials are obtained following the ball milling of pure elemental powders of Fe and Zn in proportions to yield single phases Γ(Fe3Zn10), Γ1(Fe5Zn21), and Γ + Γ1 mixed phase (Fe25Zn75). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements of the as-milled materials show characteristic stages in the temperature range of 50–600 °C prior to establishing stable equilibrium. The activation energies determined from kinetic analyses range from 49 to 189 kJ/mole in these materials. A characteristic stage at 130 °C marking the distinct evolution of the Γ and Γ1 phases from the intermediate or mixed phase composition is identified from XRD measurements. The identification of a unique Fe site with a quadrupole splitting (QS) of 1.5 mm/s in corroboration with x-ray diffraction (XRD) shows that this stage marks the onset of an in situ transformation prior to the distinct evolution of the homogeneous phases. The Mössbauer effect measurement of the as-milled materials are resolved in terms of four unique Fe sites with QS of 1.1, 0.241, 0.073, and 0.0772 mm/s.

Abstract: This article discusses the verse of the Quran concerning iddah (waiting period after divorce or death of husband). The concerned verse is QS. 65:4. It stipulates iddah for menopause women, amenorrhea women, and pregnant women. Muslim jurists agree that waiting period for menopause and amenorrhea women is three lunar months, whereas pregnant women must wait until labor. Medical examination shows several advantages for waiting period. Firstly, the word “in irtabtum” (when you have doubt) in the verse for menopause women, that women before menopause tend to get their menstrual period irregularly which in medical perspective a menopause women are those who have not get their menstrual period in a full year. Secondly, the attribute to women who not yet get menstruation and not yet pregnant, because there are two types of amenorrhea; primary and secondary. Primary amenorrhea for those who never get menstruation whereas secondary amenorrhea is caused by pregnancy or other causes. Thirdly, the attribute in the verse of iddah for pregnant women with “an yadha’na hamlahunna” not with “an yalidna” means that pregnancy take place when ovum was fertilized by sperm. Thus, when there is no pregnancy, either because of miscarriage or labor, the iddah concludes. Key words: iddah, Quranic interpretation, medical knowledge

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis ayat-ayat yang berkaitan dengan hukum ekonomi syuariah dengan mengimplementasikan ilmu al-munasabah yang merupakan salah satu cabang dari ulumul Quran. Ilmu ini dapat membantu dan membuka akal seseorang untuk dapat memahami berbagai macam peraturan dan hukum yang terdapat dalam Alquran. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adaalah penelitian kualitatif dengan studi kepustakaan serta analisis isi terhadap ayat-ayat yang diduga kuat dikategorikan mengandung hukum ekonomi syariah. Setelah dilakukan analisis, dengan mengimplementasikan Ilm al-Munasabah ditemukan bahwa: (1) Pondasi yang diatasnya dibangun Hukum Ekonomi Syariah antara lain QS. 6: 165 yang dikorelasikan dengan ayat sebelumnya (164) dan sesudahnya (166) menunujukkan bahwa kebebasan mendayagunakan potensi sumber daya alam diikuti dengan kewajiban untuk mempertanggungjawabkannya kepada pemberi karunia tersebut sebagai manifestasi asas tauhidullah; (2) mengacu pada tafsir QS. 2: 168, 5: 8, dan 16: 91, ditemukan prinsip-prinsip hukum ekonomi syariah sebagai berikut: (a) Prinsip saling memenuhi kebutuhan hidup secara layak dan benar, (b) tolong menolong dalam kebaikan, (c) saling menguntungkan, (d) saling berkompetisi secara positif, (e) saling melindungi dan saling memberi jaminan, (f) saling memegang keadilan dan keseimbangan, (g) saling memenuhi janji, dan (h) tidak saling merusak atau tidak saling merugikan; dan (3) berdasarkan QS 4: 160, 161, 162; 3: 130; 2: 175-179, ditemukan bahwa praktik riba muncul sebagai akibat pranata ekonomi syariah yang bersifat filantrofis tidak berjalan. Oleh karena itu, Allah swt dengan pris al-tadaruj fi al-hukm, mengkrisi praktik riba, lalu riba yang berlipat diharamkan, dan berikutnya, semua bentuk riba diharamkan

Al-Qur’an tidak secara eksplisit menyebut tentang bentuk keharaman riba. Para ulama berbeda pendapat terkait riba yang dimaksudkan al-Qur’an. Masyarakat Islam berasumsi bahwa segala bentuk tambahan termasuk bunga bank digolongkan riba. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada kata adh’fan mudh?’afah atau berlipat ganda dalam QS. ?li-‘Imran: 130, untuk melihat teks dan konteksnya terkait riba. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kepustakaan library research dengan metode content analysis. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa bunga bank dan riba merupakan hal yang berbeda. Riba yang haram adalah riba yang bersifat eksploitasi.

The article presents a comparative analysis of Master’s programs of four leading Russian universities with those offered by top globally recognized universities (from QS, RePec, Best US News university rankings). Foreign universities’ programs show a significant domination of public administration, public politics or public economics to the detriment of financial component. Out of 130 universities the author identifies only about 10 relevant programs with valuable and substantial public finance components. Russian master’s programs are on a par with globally recognized programs, which provide a solid basis to easily adapt them for international students. The article contains references to top universities’ programs and courses, English variants of disciplines and their Russian analogs that make the article useful for upgrading the Russian programs.

Several electrocardiographic algorithms have been proposed to identify the site of origin for the ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) from the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) versus right ventricular outflow tract. However, the electrocardiographic criteria for distinguishing VAs originated from the different sites of LVOT is lacking. We aimed to develop a simple and efficient ECG algorithm to differentiate LVOT VAs originated from the aortic root, AMC and LV summit. We analyzed 12-lead ECG characteristics of 68 consecutive patients who underwent successful radiofrequency catheter ablation of symptomatic VAs from LVOT. Patients were divided into RCC (right coronary cusp) group (n = 8), the L-RCC (the junction between the LCC and RCC) group (n = 21), the LCC (left coronary cusp) group (n = 24), the aortomitral continuity (AMC) group (n = 9) and the LV summit group (n = 6) according to the final ablation sites. Measurements with the highest diagnostic performance were modeled into a 4-stepwise algorithm to discriminate LVOT VAs. The performance of this novel algorithm was prospectively tested in a validation cohort of 43 consecutive patients undergoing LVOT VAs ablation. Based on the accuracy of AUC, a 4-stepwise ECG algorithm was developed. First, the QS duration in aVL > 134 ms was used to distinguish VAs from AMC, LV summit and VAs from aortic root (80% sensitivity and 76% specificity). Second, the R duration in II > 155 ms was used to differentiate VAs from LV summit and VAs from AMC (67% sensitivity and 56% specificity). Third, the ratio of III/II < 0.9 was used to discriminate VAs from RCC and VAs from LCC, L-RCC (82% sensitivity and 63% specificity). Fourth, the QS duration of aVR > 130 ms was used to discern VAs from LCC and VAs from L-RCC (75% sensitivity and 62% specificity). In the prospective evaluation, our 4-stepwise ECG algorithm exhibited a good predictive value. We have developed a novel and simple 4-stepwise ECG algorithm with good predictive value to discriminate the AVs from different sites of LVOT.

Riba is discussed by the Qur'an through four stages, similar to the steps of khamr prohibition (hard drink). The first stage of merely describing the negative element, namely surah Ar-Rum verse 39. Then followed the cues of its haram (Surah an-Nisa ': 161). Later in the third stage, as expressly stated prohibition of one form, is doubled (Surah al-Imran: 130). Finally, total prohibition and in its various forms is the QS. al-Baqarah 275-279. Islam prohibits the practice of usury, for several reasons, among others: first, Allah and His Messenger forbid or make it haram. Second, because of usury requires taking someone else's property with no compensation (vanity). Third, by usury, people become lazy attempt lawful shara '. Fourth, when usury is ingrained in a person, then that person prefers to raise money because the money will benefit cattle greater than the trade and done with no difficulty. Fifth, usury causes ruptures benevolence toward our fellow human beings by way of debt or eliminate the usefulness of debt, then it is more likely to extort usury of the poor rather than helping the poor.

In understanding the Koran, there are many approaches that can be applied, including by using the semantic approach proposed by Thoshihiko Izutsu. One of the cases raised by Tashihiko's semantic approach is to understand the concept of maqam, the choice of using semantics in understanding the Koran will result in a comprehensive understanding other than what is done by conventional tafsir scholars. The steps taken in Tashihiko's semantic are searching for keywords, looking for basic meanings and relational meanings which include syntagmatic and diachronic analyzes, looking for synchronic and diachronic meanings which include 3 periods, namely, pre-qur'anic, qur'anic and post-qur'anic. , and determine weltanschoung. With these steps, it is found that the word maqam has several results, namely (1) The word maqam and its revasion is mentioned 18 times in the Koran with 7 invented words, namely, مَقَام, مَقَامِي, مَقَامِكَ, مَقَامَهُمَا, مُقاَمَ|, مُقاَمًا, and المُقاَمَةِ. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada Usaha Ekonomi Desa Simpan Pinjam (UED-SP) Desa Kembung Luar. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah Usaha Ekonomi Desa Simpan Pinjam (UED-SP) Desa Kembung Luar dan objek penelitian Rasio Profitabilitas. Analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini analisis deskriptif kualitatif yaitu menggambarkan hasil penelitian dengan menelaah data yang diperoleh dari perusahaan kemudian dibandingkan dengan berbagai teori yang mendukung masalah penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perhitungan Return On Invesment tahun 2016-2018 ROI mengalami penurunan karena perputaran aset dan laba bersih dalam satu tahun menurun. Hal ini menunjukkan kemampuan UED-SP dalam menghasilkan laba bersih dari aset belum maksimal. Tahun 2016-2018 mengalami peningkatan karena laba yang dihasilkan pada tahun 2016-2018 meningkat. Begitu juga dari hasil perhitungan Return On Equity, bahwa pada UED ini dalam mengelola modal dalam menghasilkan keuntungan netto mengalami penurunan pada tahun 2016-2017 dan mengalami peningkatan di tahun 2017-2018. Rasio profitabilitas pada UED-SP Desa Kembung Luar tidak sesuai dengan prinsip syariah karena terdapat bunga. Ketidaksesuaian tersebut disesuaikan firman Allah dalam QS. Ali-‘Imran ayat 130 dan Al-Baqarah ayat 276. Ayat tersebut menjelaskan dalam syariah, imbalan dari modal tidak boleh berbentuk bunga karena bunga dianggap riba, sedangkan riba hukumnya haram.

Introduction. As a significant number of patients with heart failure (HF) does not respond to cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT), a lot of research has deservedly focused on optimization, and better patient selection. The ideal resynchronization depends on different factors, from device programming to heart features and left ventricle (LV) lead position. Analysis of the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) is the most simple method which can provide important information on LV lead location, presence of scar at LV pacing site, and fusion of intrinsic activation or RV pacing with LV pacing.Purpose. To analyze the electrophysiological and structural heart features and their correlation with the ECG pattern during biventricular (BV) pacing in patients with HF and CRT devices.Methods. The study included 47 patients (mean age 62.3±8.9 years) with LBBB, QRS duration ≥ 130 ms, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤ 35%, heart failure (HF) NYHA II-IV despite optimal pharmacological therapy during months. All patients had undergone CRT-D implantation. Late-gadolinium enhancement-cardiovascular magnetic resonance (LGE-CMR), 12-lead ECG, non-invasive cardiac mapping (NICM) (with obtaining the zone of late LV activation (ZLA)) were undertaken prior to CRT devices implantation. NICM with cardiac CT and evaluation of LV lead position, ECG pattern during BV pacing (#1 - fusion complex with increased or dominant R wave, independent of QRS duration, #2- QS pattern with QRS duration normalization, and #3- QS pattern with increased QRS duration) were undertaken after CRT devices implantation. Response to CRT was estimated by echo and was defined as decrease in LV end-systolic volume by > 15% after 6 months of follow-up.Results. CRT was effective in 28 patients (59.5%). According to the results of NICM, zone of late LV activation more often was located at 5,6,11,12 segments, and LV pacing site - at 6,7,12 segments of LV. In the “response” group overlap of scar zone and zone of late LV activation was observed (p=0.005). The presence of scar tissue in the LV pacing site was associated with CRT non-response (p<0.001), and the pacing zone of late LV activation resulted in the best CRT response (p<0.001). The distance from the LV electrode to the zone of late LV activation was less in the “CRT response” group (33 [20;42] mm vs 83 [55;100] mm, p<0.001). The most beneficial ECG pattern during BV pacing was #2, and #3 was more often observed in the group “CRT non-response”; configuration #1 was intermediate between ECG patterns #2 and #3.Conclusions. A comprehensive examination, including the study of the structural and electrophysiological heart features is important for the optimal positioning the LV lead and subsequent CRT device programming. The simple analysis of the QRS pattern during BV pacing can show whether biventricular pacing is adequately performed and can reveal inadequate CRT programming and LV lead positioning.

Krisis moneter yang terjadi saat ini membuat perdebatan penafsiran beberapa pemikir Islam tentang keharaman dan kehalalan bunga bank. Beberapa dari mereka beranggapan bahwa bunga bank yang umumnya berlaku dalam sistem dunia perbankan dewasa ini adalah termasuk riba. Setidaknya terdapat dua pendapat mendasar yang membahas tentang riba yaitu penafsiran secara tekstualis dan penafsiran secara kontekstualis. Paham tekstualis dipelopori oleh gerakan neo-revivalisme Islam, sedangkan paham kontekstualis dipelopori oleh kaum neo-modernisme Islam. Dalam tulisan ini, akan membahas bagaimana hermeneutika double movement Fazlurrahman dan hermeneutika kontekstual Abdullah Saeed digunakan sebagai model interpretasi ayat riba dalam Al-Qur’an pada masa pewahyuan dan konteks ketika ayat riba akan ditafsirkan. Berdasarkan analisis data penelitian ini menghasilkan dua kesimpulan. Pertama, Fazlurrahman menyimpulkan bahwa larangan riba dalam Al-Qur’an menekankan aspek moral daripada menekankan aspek legal-formal pelarangan riba. Riba yang dilarang dalam Al-Qur’an adalah riba jahiliyyah yang mempraktikkan riba yang berlipat ganda (ad}’a>fan muda}>’afatan) QS. Ali Imran: 130. Ideal moral dari ayat tersebut adalah larangan melakukan eksploitasi terhadap kaum ekonomi lemah. Dengan demikian, selagi bank tidak menerapkan tambahan yang berlipat ganda (eksploitatif), maka hal itu dapat dibenarkan. Kedua, dalam menafsirkan ayat riba dalam Al-Qur’an, Abdullah Saeed lebih menekankan aspek moral (h}ikmah) daripada aspek literalnya. Statemen lakum ru’usu amwa>likum (bagimu pokok hartamu) telah diberi penekanan moral melalui penjelasan la> taz}limu>n wa la> tuz}lamu>n (kamu tidak melakukan penganiayaan dan tidak pula kamu dianiaya). Statemen pertama “penambahan dalam pinjam meminjam di atas pokok pinjaman” dianggap sebagai ‘illah, sementara statemen yang kedua “kamu tidak melakukan penganiayaan dan tidak pula kamu dianiaya” merupakan h}ikmah.

Increasing population densities and food demands are major factors contributing to the widespread use of agricultural drylands in upper volcanic slope areas. This phenomenon poses a high risk of severe erosional events that are environmentally hazardous. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the sediment flow characteristics, based on the relationship between sediment flow and water level as well as the sediment discharge rate and soil loss. Field surveys were conducted to determine the soil measurement, slope morphology and dryland cover characteristics. The sediment flow was evaluated at the gully outlet, where 169 suspension data pairs for the modeling and 130 suspension data pairs for the validation, as well as the bed load, water level, rainfall and water flow characteristics were obtained. Tables and figures were subsequently used to represent the measurement data and analysis results for the correlation between the flow rate effects, sediment and soil loss on the water surface. The results showed that the sediment flow in volcanic landscape slopes with dryland agriculture were possibly characterized by the polynomial relationship, using the suspension discharge model, Qs=0.0322Q2+6.0625Q–1.2658. Under this condition, the average rate of soil loss in the form of sediment load and erosion rate of the catchment area occurred at 953.53 and ​​1,657.94 ton/ha/yr, respectively. Furthermore, the sediment sources in the soil loss were believed to originate from 83% of the suspended sediments and 17% bed loads. The analysis technique in this study is thematic analysis. The results of this study indicate that the Islamic educational philosophy towards the Islamic educational psychology is the core of educational philosophy that views education as a process of humanizing students as a person or a group of people who increase their human potential, so that they are able to develop and actualize themselves with all the original potential (fitrah) that exists in them psychologically. The analysis of the positioning of 52 leading Russian universities in three world rankings (QS, THE, ARWU) over a nine-year time interval has been carried out. It is shown that none of these universities, except for Moscow State University, was included in the TOP-100 of the rankings under consideration. Universities that are included in the QS ranking for 8 or 9 consecutive years, as well as universities included in 2020 in the stratified 100-rank intervals of the top parts of this ranking were identified.

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kepustakaan (library research), sedangkan dalam pengumpulan datanya menggunakan metode dokumetasi (documentation research method),analisis data yang digunakan dalam skripsi ini adalah analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa: 1. Ibnu Katsir adalah seorang ahli tafsir dan sejarah ternama. Ia juga seorang ahli fiqih dan ahli hadis. Ibnu Katsir lahir pada tahun 700 H/1300 M di timur Bashri yang masuk wilayah Damaskus dan wafat pada tahun 774 H di Damaskus. Salah satu karya ilmiah Ibnu Katsir yang akan dibahas dalam skripsi ini adalah kitab Tafsîr al Qurân al ‘Azîmyang termasyhur dengan sebutan Tafsir Ibnu Katsirpada Qur’an Surat al Baqarah ayat 132-133. 2. Konsep pendidikan tauhid dalam Islam menurut al Qur’an Surat al Baqarah ayat 132-133 merupakan proses membimbing manusia untuk tetap teguh kepercayaannya bahwa Allah Maha Esa dan hanya tunduk kepada-Nya sampai akhir hayat. 3. Sedangkan konsep pendidikan tauhid dalam keluarga menurut Ibnu Katsir dalam Qur’an Surat al Baqarah ayat 132-133 adalah, upaya membina manusia dalam menyerahkan diri secara mutlak kepada Allah SWT sepanjang hayatnya dalam keluarga secara berkesinambungan sampai keturunannya di masa depan kelak meskipun berbeda cara atau metode dalam pelaksanaannya. 4. Adapun relevansi pendidikan tauhid dalam keluarga dimasa sekarang adalah bahwa pendidikan tauhid di masa sekarang ini harus berusaha lebih keras lagi untuk terus memperhatikan dengan membuat metode yang variatif agar anak didik dapat mengikuti dengan nyaman dan tidak terbebani akan aturan-aturan yang harus dilaluinya untuk mencapai tujuan dari pendidikan tauhid ini. Jó lenne, ha rendelkeznénk a világ egyetemeinek objektív minőségi sorrendjét ismertető táblázattal. Azt, hogy ilyennel nem rendelkezünk, itt a QS rangsor példáján mutatjuk be. Ebben a cikkben megvizsgáljuk, hogy milyen összetevői vannak a QS-helyezéseknek, ezt a különböző magyar egyetemek hogyan teljesítik, és hogy vajon ezek a mutatók mivel korrelálnak a legjobban. Kilenc magyar egyetem adatainak felhasználásával azt mutatjuk meg, hogy a QS állításával ellentétben a QS-pontszám (és QS-rangsor) elsősorban nem a minőséggel, hanem a mennyiséggel arányos (értsd: az oktatók és kutatók létszámával). Ezen túl a QS-siker szempontjából segítene, ha minden magyar hallgatót külföldire cserélnénk – itt sajnos ellentmondásba kerül a regionális szerepre és a világhírre való törekvés. Szerencsére az is kiderül, hogy legalább részben a QS-pontszám az egyetem hivatkozás-vonzó képességével is korrelál, ami valóban minőségi jellemző. Végül megmutatjuk, hogy leginkább a QS-pontok 50%-át adó, erősen szubjektív kérdőíves eredmények torzító hatása miatt a magyar egyetemek akár 100 helyezéssel is lehetnek feljebb/lejjebb a QS-rangsorban ahhoz képest, amit objektív mérés esetén megérdemelnének. Ez tág teret enged az egyetemi marketing bevetésének a látszólagos QS kiválósági rangsor kozmetikázásában.

Background:Smoking is associated with worse treatment response1 and higher mortality2 in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Objectives:To assess the effect of a smoking cessation intervention in a rheumatology setting.Methods:We designed a smoking cessation interventional feasibility study. RA patients who were active smokers were asked to participate. A nurse-delivered program consisting of behavioural changes techniques and voluntary pharmacotherapy was executed. The intervention was at baseline and at several time points during a 24 month period, based on the individual patient’s needs. Smoking status was collected at baseline, 6, 12, 18 and 24 months. Smoking cessation was verified by 7-days abstinence and carbon monoxide in expiratory air. The main outcome was the proportion of patients who quit smoking (QS) at 24 months.Results:A total of 99 patients were included in the study between 2011-2020. Median (IQR) age of patients was 58 (50 - 64), 69 % were female and 82% were RF and/or ACPA positive. 59% of patients had a newly diagnosed RA, (included from the early RA-track), with a median (IQR) symptom duration of 5 (2-9,5) months. Patients with established RA 41% (included from regular rheumatology department) had a median disease duration of 4 (2-8) years. After 24 months 21% quit smoking (QS) (Table 1). At months 6, 12, 18 and 24 the proportion of QS patients was 12, 13, 15 and 21, respectively. The proportion of QS patients at month 12 and continued being in the QS group throughout the study period was 10%. In the subgroup of patients who continued smoking (CS) the median number of cigarettes per day was significantly reduced at all follow-up time points (Table 1). No significant differences were observed at baseline between CS at 24 months and QS, apart from the proportion of patients who reported anxiety (extracted from EQ-5D and defined as absent or present), which was significantly fewer in the QS group (Table). This study aims to analyze Uslûb Dalâlî or semantic style in Qur'anic Verses and its absorption in sentences for learning. This research is qualitative with a library research approach. Research data is a corpus of verses of the Makiyyah Qur'an with semantic style values. The source of the data is the Qur'an. Data collection techniques are carried out with documentation. At the same time, data analysis uses content analysis. There were four discourses as a result of the study. First is the aspect of takrar (repetition). That repetition is contained in QS. Al-Baqarah: 4, QS. Ali Imran: 54, QS. An-Nur: 40, and QS. An-Nur 45. The absorption of sentence patterns is further projected for learning, like learning that continues to be repeated and all knowledge considered useful. Secondly, the Qasr (focusing) aspect appears in QS. Al-Baqarah: 5, QS. Al-Baqarah: 254, and QS. An-Nisa: 151. Absorbing sentence patterns reduces learners’ readiness for learning and consistent and honest practice. Third, the number of mu'taridah (discontinuous structures). Marked in QS. Al-Baqarah: 24; QS. Al-Baqarah 116; and QS. Al-Mumtahanah: 110. Absorption of sentence patterns is good learning that must end with evaluation/assessment truth, iltifat (pronoun distillation) contained in QS. Al-Baqarah: 128, QS. Al-Baqarah: 159, QS Ali-Imran: 11; QS. Ali-Imran: 81, and QS. Al-Maidah: 13. The pattern of sentence absorption reduces to the need, to be honest in the educational process and punishment for undisciplined students. Thus, the Qur'an is the greatest literary book with multi-meaning in each verse unit.

This study tries to reveal on how The Qur’an Surah al-'Asr could be interpreted to describe the principles of behaviors required in managing organizations without corruption, what causes failure in organizing process, and an alternative solution for managing the organization to avoid corruption. This is a library research with the primary source taken from the Qur’an Surah Al-Ashr: 1-3, the secondary sources were taken from other verses that is related in the Qur'an, related hadith of the Prophet Muhammad and the books of tafsir, while the tertiary sources are taken from books or writings that have relevance to the problem of research. This qualitative research uses Tahlili interpretation approach with inductive and interpretative method. The results of this study shows that the success of an organization without corruption built on three principles of behaviors, they are to build a work ethic commitment to organize effectively and efficiently based on faith, to run the organization professionally, open to accept and provide truth-based criticism and patience. On the other hand, the cause of the failure to organize is not carrying out their obligations, unfairness that resulting in cheating, corruption and dishonest/hypocritical.

SUMMARY The Taupo Volcanic Zone has a 120-km-long section of rhyolitic volcanism, within which is a 60-km-long area of supervolcanoes. The underlying subducted slab has along-strike heterogeneity due to the Hikurangi Plateau's prior subduction history. We studied 3-D Qs (1/attenuation) using t* spectral decay from local earthquakes to 370-km depth. Selection emphasized those events with data quality to sample the low Qs mantle wedge, and Qs inversion used varied linking of nodes to obtain resolution in regions of sparse stations, and 3-D initial model. The imaged mantle wedge has a 250-km-long 150-km-wide zone of low Qs (<300) at 65–85 km depth which includes two areas of very low Qs (<120). The most pronounced low Qs feature underlies the Mangakino and Whakamaru super-eruptive calderas, with inferred melt ascending under the central rift structure. The slab is characterized by high Qs (1200–2000), with a relatively small area of reduction in Qs (<800) underlying Taupo at 65-km depth, and adjacent to the mantle wedge low Qs. This suggests abundant dehydration fluids coming off the slab at specific locations and migrating near-vertically upward to the volcanic zone. The seismicity in the subducted slab has a patch of dense seismicity underlying the rhyolitic volcanic zone, consistent with locally abundant fractures and fluid flux. The relationship between the along-arc and downdip slab heterogeneity and dehydration implies that patterns of volcanism may be strongly influenced by large initial outer rise hydration which occurred while the edge of the Hikurangi Plateau hindered subduction. A second very low Qs feature is 50-km west above the 140-km-depth slab. The distinction suggests involvement of a second dehydration peak at that depth, consistent with some numerical models.

Sumber data primer dalam penelitian ini adalah ayat-ayat al-Quran yang berkaitan dengan shalat dalam al-Quran menurut Buya Hamka. Hasil penelitian ini adalah secara umum ada tiga pengaruh shalat terhadap kesehatan mental menurut Buya Hakma, yaitu pengaruh shalat terhadap pikiran menurut ulama tafsir ada 2 pertama, pengaruh besar yang dikandung oleh shalat terhadap pikiran (QS. Hud [11]:56), (QS. Ar-Ra`d [13]:22, QS. Al-Isra’ [17]:78) dan kedua, shalat dapat menambah kekuatan jiwa dan meringankan beban yang dipikul (QS. Ar-Ra`d [13]:28 dan QS. An-Nisa` [4]:103). Kemudian pengaruh shalat terhadap emosi tafsir ada 2 pertama, membina serta membiasakan jiwa agar terhindar dari sifat tercela (QS. Al-Baqarah [2]:153 dan QS. Purpose Notwithstanding that numerous studies have focused on strategy in quantity surveying (QS) professional service firms, there is a paucity of investigation on the segmentation of QS professional services. The purpose of this study is to investigate the segmentation of QS services for diversification and a focus strategy formation. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts the positivist stance and quantitative approach in which a simple random sampling technique was used to select participants. In total, 110 survey questionnaires were administered to registered professional QS, out of which 79 completed questionnaires were returned for analysis. Findings The paper identifies three main QS service segments characterised by low, moderate and high competition. In addition, this study found that the concentration of traditional QS services in the building construction sector is due to the unwillingness of QS professional service firms to diversify into the non-construction sectors such as oil and gas. The diversification of QS services in the low competitive segment requires the adoption of agile approaches. Research limitations/implications The study was limited to numeric analyses and so would be complemented by qualitative research in the future. Practical implications This paper is useful to QS professional service firms interested in diversifying their services into the non-construction sectors to enhance the pricing of their services. Originality/value Segmentation of QS services is fundamental to the formulation of focus strategy for non-construction sectors such as oil and gas and mining to enhance the pricing of QS professional services.

Sleep state development in preterm neonates can provide crucial information regarding functional brain maturation and give insight into neurological well being. However, visual labeling of sleep stages from EEG requires expertise and is very time consuming, prompting the need for an automated procedure. We present a robust method for automated detection of preterm sleep from EEG, over a wide postmenstrual age ([Formula: see text] age) range, focusing first on Quiet Sleep (QS) as an initial marker for sleep assessment. Our algorithm, CLuster-based Adaptive Sleep Staging (CLASS), detects QS if it remains relatively more discontinuous than non-QS over PMA. CLASS was optimized on a training set of 34 recordings aged 27–42 weeks PMA, and performance then assessed on a distinct test set of 55 recordings of the same age range. Results were compared to visual QS labeling from two independent raters (with inter-rater agreement [Formula: see text]), using Sensitivity, Specificity, Detection Factor ([Formula: see text] of visual QS periods correctly detected by CLASS) and Misclassification Factor ([Formula: see text] of CLASS-detected QS periods that are misclassified). CLASS performance proved optimal across recordings at 31–38 weeks (median [Formula: see text], median MF 0–0.25, median Sensitivity 0.93–1.0, and median Specificity 0.80–0.91 across this age range), with minimal misclassifications at 35–36 weeks (median [Formula: see text]). To illustrate the potential of CLASS in facilitating clinical research, normal maturational trends over PMA were derived from CLASS-estimated QS periods, visual QS estimates, and nonstate specific periods (containing QS and non-QS) in the EEG recording. CLASS QS trends agreed with those from visual QS, with both showing stronger correlations than nonstate specific trends. This highlights the benefit of automated QS detection for exploring brain maturation.

This paper discusses the Value of Character Education in QS. al-Ṣāffāt / 37: 102-103. To obtain data, the researchers traced data through the library (library research) through searching books and research results related to the problem under study. The approach used in this research is the normative theological approach, psychological approach, and historical approach. The data analysis technique used is deductive namely data processing techniques by analyzing the data and information that have been obtained, but still scattered and then collected and analyzed so that the data and information are intact and can provide a true picture of the object under study. This data analysis technique is done by departing from general data and then drawing conclusions that are specific.The results found that QS. al-Ṣāffāt / 37: 102-103 commentators explain the story of the Prophet Abraham who was willing to slaughter his son named Ishmael for obedience and patience to obey God's commands through his dreams supported by obedience of the child to the commands of his parents. Character education in the verse is divided into three main points, namely: First. The method, the method used is the method of command, dialogue, and example. Second. The principle, the principle used is the principle of integration, balance, rububiyah, and open. Third. Material, material taught is patience, obedience, politeness, and sincerity. With the wisdom contained in this verse, educators, especially parents can educate their children using the methods and methods of the prophets as exemplified by the prophet Ibrahim in educating their children to be children of character.

The Qur’an as a guide has not been understood by some Muslim communities. Therefore, bad behavior still occurs, so the character of Islamic society has a bad impact. This discussion is to reveal "How are the characteristics of Islamic society from the perspective of the Qur'an". Method of discussion uses a thematic interpretation approach, collecting Qur'anic verses related to "characteristics of Islamic society." The data is processed based on two sources. (a) The primary source is in the form of Qur'anic verses related to "characteristics of Islamic society" and its interpretation; (b) secondary sources that are closely related to the main material in the discussion, such as books, such as Qurani Society and Tracing the Concept of Ideal Society in the Qur'an, as well as several books of interpretation, such as the book of interpretation of Al-Mishbah, Al-Azhar, etc. The results show that the Islamic community is made up of people who have the best character, provided that they are carrying out the rules of Allah SWT. There are three reasons why Muslims are the best people. 1. Muslims are believers. 2. Muslims are people who always advocate for goodness (amar ma'rûf), and 3. Muslims are people who do not allow crimes that can damage society (nahi mungkar).Abstrak: Al-Qur’an sebagai petunjuk belum dipahami oleh sebagian masyarakat muslim. Oleh karena itu, perilaku tidak baik masih saja terjadi, sehingga karakter masyarakat Islam berdampak buruk. Pembahasan ini untuk mengungkapkan; “Bagaimana Karakteristik Masyarakat Islam Perspektif Al-Qur’an". Metode pembahasan ini menggunakan pendekatan tafsir tematik, mengumpulkan ayat-ayat Alquran yang berkaitan dengan “karakteristik masyarakat Islam”. Data diolah berdasarkan dua sumber. (a) Sumber primer berupa ayat-ayat Alquran yang berkaitan dengan “karakteristik masyarakat Islam” dan penafsirannya, (b) Sumber sekunder yang erat kaitannya dengan bahan pokok dalam pembahasan, seperti buku; Qurani Society, Menelusuri Konsep Masyarakat Ideal dalam Alquran, serta beberapa kitab tafsir, seperti kitab tafsir Al-Mishbah, Al-Azhar, dan lain-lain. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Islam perspektif Alquran adalah umat yang memiliki karakter terbaik dengan syarat selagi umat Islam tersebut menjalankan aturan Allah SWT. Abstract Saponins were purified from Quillaja saponaria Molina bark by silica and reverse phase chromatography. The resulting purified saponins were tested for adjuvant activity in mice. Several distinct saponins, designated QS-7, QS-17, QS-18, and QS-21, were demonstrated to boost antibody levels by 100-fold or more when used in mouse immunizations with the Ag BSA and beef liver cytochrome b5. These purified saponins increased titers in all major IgG subclasses. To determine optimal dose in mice for adjuvant response, QS-7 and QS-21 were tested in a dose-response study in intradermal immunization with BSA in mice; for both of these purified saponins, adjuvant response (determined by stimulation of ELISA titers to BSA) neared maximum at doses of 5 micrograms and was shown to plateau up to the highest dose tested, 80 micrograms. These purified saponins vary considerably in their toxicity, as assessed by lethality in mice; the main component, QS-18, being the most toxic. Saponins QS-7 and QS-21 showed no or very low toxicity in mice, respectively. None of these saponins stimulated production of reaginic antibodies. The monosaccharide composition of these saponins showed similar but distinct compositions with all four containing fucose, xylose, galactose and glucuronic acid. Predominant differences were observed in the quantities of rhamnose, arabinose, and glucose. Monomer m.w. (determined by size exclusion HPLC) were determined to range from 1800 to 2200.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa aktualisasi nilai-nilai persatuan dalam QS. Ali Imran Ayat 103 dapat dilakukan dengan: menjunjung tinggi nilai-nilai Pancasila dan Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, meningkatkan toleransi dan saling menghormati, menumbuhkan rasa nasionalisme dan cinta tanah air, meningkatkan partisipasi masyarakat dalam pembangunan, memelihara kerukunan antarumat beragama. Aktualisasi nilai-nilai persatuan ini merupakan tanggung jawab bersama seluruh rakyat Indonesia. ABSTRACT Due to the greater in vitro activity of ciprofloxacin than that of levofloxacin against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the likelihood of isolating a clinical strain of quinolone-resistant (QR) P. aeruginosa might be greater after exposure to levofloxacin than ciprofloxacin. We examined the risk of isolating QR P. aeruginosa in association with prior levofloxacin or ciprofloxacin exposure. A case-case-control study was conducted. Two groups of cases, one with nosocomial QR P. aeruginosa infections and one with nosocomial quinolone-susceptible (QS) P. aeruginosa infections, were compared to a control group of hospitalized patients without P. aeruginosa infections. Bivariable and multivariable analyses were used to determine risk factors for isolation of QR P. aeruginosa and QS P. aeruginosa. One hundred seventeen QR P. aeruginosa and 255 QS P. aeruginosa cases were identified, and 739 controls were selected. Exposures to ciprofloxacin were similar among all three groups (8% for controls, 9.4% for QR P. aeruginosa cases, and 7.5% for QS P. aeruginosa cases; P ≥ 0.6). Levofloxacin use was more frequent in the QR P. aeruginosa cases than in the controls (35.9% and 22.1%, respectively; odds ratio [OR] = 2.0; 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.3 to 3.0) and less frequent in QS P. aeruginosa cases (14.1% of QS P. aeruginosa cases; OR = 0.6; 95% CI = 0.4 to 0.9). In multivariable analysis, levofloxacin, but not ciprofloxacin, was a significant risk factor for isolation of QR P. aeruginosa (OR for levofloxacin = 1.7 [95% CI = 1.0 to 2.9]; OR for ciprofloxacin = 1.2 [95% CI = 0.6 to 2.5]). Levofloxacin was associated with a reduced risk of isolation of QS P. aeruginosa (OR = 0.6; 95% CI = 0.4 to 0.9), whereas ciprofloxacin had no significant effect (OR = 1.0; 95% CI = 0.6 to 1.8). In conclusion, the use of levofloxacin, but not ciprofloxacin, was associated with isolation of QR P. aeruginosa.

Using the projected linear size, (D) as an orientation parameter, the armlength ratio, (Q) and the lobe-luminosity ratio, (R) as asymmetry parameters, we test the FR-II galaxies (Gs) and radio-loud quasar (Qs) unification scheme. Using the median values of our binned sample, our results, generally indicate that the D of the radio sources are smaller at higher redshifts z and at larger Q values, with the D of Qs smaller than those of Gs across all Q, z and R bins. Also, the D of Gs appear smaller for lower values of Q, if R ≤ 1.0 but become larger at higher values of Q if R > 1.0. For Qs, the D decreases with increasing Q, R and z. These results imply that the beaming effect is more important in Qs than in Gs. The D − R regression analyses for different Q and z subsamples suggest the importance of factors other than beaming and orientation in the interpretation of the evolution of these radio sources.

With the increasing antibiotic resistance of bacterial strains, alternative methods for infection control are in high demand. Quorum sensing (QS) is the bacterial communication system based on small molecules. QS is enables bacterial biofilm formation and pathogenic development. The interruption of QS has become a target for drug discovery, but remains in the early experimental phase. In this study, we synthesized a set of six compounds based on a scaffold (alkyl-quinoxalin-2(1H)-one), new in the anti-QS of Gram-negative bacteria Aeromonas caviae Sch3. By quantifying biofilm formation, we were able to monitor the effect of these compounds from concentrations of 1 to 100 µM. Significant reduction in biofilm formation was achieved by 3-hexylylquinoxalin-2(1H)-one (11), 3-hexylylquinoxalin-2(1H)-one-6-carboxylic acid (12), and 3-heptylylquinoxalin-2(1H)-one-6-carboxylic acid (14), ranging from 11% to 59% inhibition of the biofilm. This pilot study contributes to the development of anti-QS compounds to overcome the clinical challenge of resistant bacteria strains.
