Abstract (sommario):
The objectives of this work are to determine the profiles of the countries that make up the European tomato consuming market and to observe if the economic-financial crisis (2007/2008) has influenced them. Both Lafay’s economic indicators were applied and country profiles and subprofiles were identified through a multilevel two-stage cluster analysis. The empirical analysis covers the period from 2005 to 2016, separated into two periods, pre-crisis (2005–2010) and post-crisis (2011–2016). Most countries obtained import and export profiles that coincide in both indices, Except in Italy. Only one post-crisis profile change was detected, this being for Greece, from an importer to an exporter. As a result of the initial two-stage clustering analysis (both in the pre-crisis and post-crisis period), three clusters were obtained. At the first level of clustering, Italy is identified with a producer profile and Spain and the Netherlands with an exporter profile. At the second level of clustering of the initial larger group, two clusters were identified, Germany and the United Kingdom with an importing sub-profile, and France and Belgium with an exporting sub-profile. In the transition from the pre-crisis to the post-crisis period, Portugal changed from a producer sub-profile to an exporter sub-profile.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract The importance of segment of flowers and ornamental plants in agribusiness are growing. Researches that analyze the situation of different sector of this segment may contribute to establishing politics and actions to stimulate its development. In order to attend this purpose, the aim of this research was to analyze segments of the flower and ornamental plant production chain, focusing on producers and retailers. For that, two different surveys were applied, composed of direct and indirect questions. The application was performed online, using social media or in person, in the company location or in trend fairs. It was observed that the flower and ornamental plant production is mainly a familiar business. Another important issue is that the springtime consists of a new date for flower and ornamental plant commercialization. The number of retailers has been increasing, and this segment had some improvements as sales of different products and services. The flower and ornamental plant commercialization are still, in the majority, in physical location shops, besides of all the technologies available for online sales.

Abstract (sommario):
Sugarcane honey (SCH) is a syrup produced on Madeira Island and recognized by its unique aroma, a complex attribute of quality with an important influence on the final consumer’s acceptance of the product, and determined by a complex mixture of a large number of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) generated during its traditional making process and storage. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to establish the volatile profile of genuine SCH produced by a regional certified producer for seven years and compare it with syrups from non-certified regional producers and with producers from different geographical regions (Spain, Egypt, Brazil and Australia), as a powerful strategy to define the volatomic fingerprint of SCH. Different volatile profiles were recognized for all samples, with 166 VOCs being identified belonging to different chemical classes, including furans, ketones, carboxylic acids, aldehydes and alcohols. Chemometric analysis allowed (i) the differentiation between all syrups, being more pronounced between SCH and other syrups; and (ii) the identification of 32 VOCs as potential markers for the traceability and authenticity of SCH on the global market.

Abstract (sommario):
Foot infections in patients with diabetes mellitus are a major cause of morbidity, can lead to gangrene and ultimately amputation of the limb. Aim of the study was to determine the type of microorganisms isolated from the Diabetic foot ulcer and antibiotic resistance pattern. We have included 50 patients having diabetic foot ulcers of Wagner's grade 1 or above in our study. Debrided tissue, pus, or swabs from the base of the ulcers were subjected to aerobic and anaerobic culture. The organisms were identified, and further antibiotic sensitivity was conducted. Seventy-two aerobic and 13 anaerobic organisms were isolated. Among the aerobic and anaerobic bacteria isolated, most predominant organisms were S. aureus and Bacteroides spp.; respectively. Of the S. aureus, 77.8% were methicillin resistant, while 42.1% of gram-negative Enterobacteriaceae were extended spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) positive. Klebsiella spp. was the highest ESBL producer. Acinetobacter spp. was the highest MBL producer. Most sensitive drugs for S. aureus were linezolid, vancomycin and amikacin. Gram-negative bacteria were mostly sensitive to piperacillin-tazobactam and amikacin. Pseudomonas spp. were usually sensitive to meropenem, piperacillin -tazobactam. Acinetobacter spp. was sensitive to colistin, tigecycline. As diabetic ulcers are often infected by multidrug-resistant bacteria, a knowledge of the common bacterial pathogens implicated as well as their sensitivity pattern helps the clinician to choose the proper antibiotic for a timely treatment.

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose This study aims to determine the physicochemical and fatty acids composition of Serra da Estrela cheese (SEC), as well as health-related lipid indices, like the atherogenic and thrombogenic indices, and to evaluate the influence of producer, geographical origin and production date. Design/methodology/approach All 24 SEC produced between November 2017 and March 2018 were collected at selected certified producers and analyzed by NIR spectrophotometer and by GC. Data were statistically evaluated by chemometric tools. Findings In all evaluated SEC, 23 fatty acids were quantified. Cheese origin influenced nutritional and health-related lipid indices). The cheeses were characterized by a relative high abundance of saturated fatty acids (67-76%), followed by a medium content of monounsaturated fatty acids (17-25%) and by low level of polyunsaturated fatty acids (5-7%). A putative positive association between cheese consumption and healthy lipid indices could be reached. Practical implications The contents of some medium and long chain fatty acids as well as of nutritional and health indices were influenced by cheese producer, geographical origin and production date pointing out the need for standardizing production procedures. Social implications The SEC plays a key role in the local economy, being an endogenous product with unique sensory characteristics and nutritional potential, for which the knowledge of the lipids profile and health indices is of utmost relevance. Originality/value SEC is an iconic Portuguese cheese with Protected Designation of Origin. Based on the results, like health-related lipid indices, evaluated for the first time, a positive association between cheese consumption and healthy lipid indices could be envisaged.

Abstract (sommario):
Carbapenemase-producing Escherichia coli (E. coli) has caused trouble in therapeutic antibiotic selection. Carbapenemase screening procedure in laboratories is usually based on inacurate semi-automatic system. Confirmation and classification of carbapenemases according to Ambler can be done with combination of phenotypic methods, i.e., Modified Hodge Test (MHT), Sodium Mercaptoacetic Acid (SMA), and 3-Aminophenylboronic Acid (PBA). This study aimed to compare profiles of carbapenemase-producing E. coli which were confirmed and classified phenotypically with the genotypic profiles. E. coli isolates from urine specimens which were potential as carbapenemase-producers according to semi-automatic system BD Phoenix were phenotypically tested with MHT, SMA, and PBA. Isolates were grouped as carbapenemase-producers and non carbapenemase-producers. Phenotypic carbapenemase-producer isolates were classified based on Ambler criteria. All isolates were then tested with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for the presence of OXA-48, IMP1, IMP2, GES, VIM, NDM, KPC genes. Out of 30 isolates, 6 isolates (20.0%) were MHT positive, and 25 isolates (83.3%) were SMA positive, which indicated that most isolates produced were carbapenemase Ambler B. PCR confirmed 12 isolates (40.0%) had VIM gene which were classified as carbapenemase Ambler B. Phenotypic confirmatory test had 100% sensitivity and 22.2% specificity. Classification with phenotypic confirmatory test had 91.7% match with PCR. Phenotypic confirmatory test detected more carbapenemase than PCR. This low specificity may be caused by inappropriate use of diagnostic gold standard. PCR should not be used for routine carbapenemase confirmation because of vast diversity of carbapenemases. Phenotypic confirmatory test can classify carbapenemase according to Ambler classification.

Abstract (sommario):
This research work investigated cellulase production potentials of the microbial profile of three sugarcane bagasse dumping sites at Zango area, Ilorin, Nigeria. The microbial isolates were screened for cellulase production with a view to select the best organism for eventual cellulase production. Pour Plate method was used for the isolation and a total of thirteen (13) different organisms including both fungal and bacterial species were isolated and screened. Six (6) fungal isolates identified as Mucor racemosus, Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Neurospora sitophilus, Penicillium oxalicum and Penicillium citrinum were isolated, while seven (7) different bacterial species isolated include Clostridium cellobioparum, Clostridium thermocellum,Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumillus, Lactobacillus spp, Pseudomonas flavescens and Serratia spp. Generally, bacterial isolates were more in abundance than fungal species. However; fungal isolates were constant and were isolated through the experimental period of three weeks. All the isolates showed cellulase production potential in varying degrees as reflected in the clearance zone around their colonies. Fungal isolates produced more cellulase than the bacterial isolates. Mucor racemosus had the highest clearance zone (75.0 mm) among the fungal isolates while Clostridium cellobioparum (35.0 mm) were the best producer among bacterial isolates. The least producer among fungal isolates, Penicillium citrinum (40.0 mm), is a little more than the bacterial cellulase producer (35.0 mm) and is far greater than the least bacterium Serratia spp (14.0 mm).

Abstract (sommario):
This paper compares the pressure drop profiles of both horizontal well producer and injector in a 5spot waterflood pattern. Dimensionless pressure distributions for each pattern were utilised. All computations were limited to conditions of unit mobility ratio; i.e., before water breakthrough condition. Results show that a normal 5-spot flood pattern, with a horizontal well producer, offers higher pressure drops, but early water breakthrough tendencies, than as an injector for the same reservoir and wellbore conditions. An inverted pattern, under the same conditions, produces clean oil for a longer time, before water breakthrough possibilities.

Taking into account the economical aspects in the agricultural area in Brazil from the last decades and also the performance from the grains production broadcasted by official records, this agricultural sector has been drawing attention to many researches and showing a total lack of proper financial management.Given the importance of financial management and controls and also by analyzing the situation on the country land where the rural producers have been dedicating more time to things related to production than to financial management which demands more assertive decisions that are essential to the maintenance of those rural enterprises and also considering the lack of proper management of the agricultural areas, the objective of this study was to analyze the use of controls and financial management in grain production rural areas from the west of Parana State in Brazil. We have divided a study in two different steps; first we have made an structured survey in 80 rural producers in the West of Parana, from October 2015 to February 2016, about the use of controls and financial management done by the producers. On the second step, we have shown to 10 of those who participated on the survey a proposal of a system of information on cash flow. Inspired by an accounting model which was adapted for this system and it was applied to 10 of those properties between the months of February and July in 2016. The study, that was descriptive and qualitative, was based on literature review and on periodicals identified in researches and surveys based on specialized bibliographies and in libraries. The results from the first step showed an absence of controls and financial management in the surveyed rural properties , regardless of the technological information and communication advancements, many decisions are still based in empirical knowledge and the systems of financial managements are rarely used and restrict. The use of a system of information of cash flow in the rural activity, on the second step, pointed out innumerous benefits such as control of expenses and the analysis of results, among others, was only possible to be estimated by the rural manager. Considering the advancements in the use of technology of information and better access to the internet in the country, new researches can contribute to foster management techniques in the rural field such as distance learning and the development of tools that can be more proper to the profile of the rural producers

Given the importance of the Rio dairy farming and aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the activity in the state of Rio de Janeiro, as well as the satisfaction and well-being of the producer, it is essential to develop policies and incentive programs created by state government in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro dairy cooperatives. These partnerships can promote effective actions and boosters, to develop the technical assistance activities and placement of information directed to the adoption of a set of conservation practices that ensure environmental sustainability of the activity. This study aimed to identify and characterize the fluminense dairy cooperatives registered in the system OCB / SESCOOP-RJ, diagnosing the availability of technical assistance from these, the average volume of milk picked up monthly, the adoption of soil conservation practices and feelings and ideas of producers regarding the use of conservation techniques in environmental terms. The work was carried out in the North /Northwest; Mountain and South Central regions of Rio de Janeiro estate, through semi-structured interviews with 14 administrative managers from 14 different cooperatives located in 12 municipalities in the state, as well as a total of 21 producers of 3 selected cooperatives. For these same cooperative focus group meetings were held by the 109 cooperative of three municipalities on different dates. It was identified by the diagnosis that dairy cooperatives registered until the month of December 2011 represent 10% of all registered cooperatives in the OCB / SESCOOP-RJ System, but this total only 4% is in full operation. It was found that the highest average monthly volumes of milk received by cooperating, in the considered period of study, are related to cooperatives who reported participating in rational use of natural resources programs, developed in partnership with the State Technical Assistance Company (EMATER - RJ). In both Regions were identified that cooperative farmers using soil conservation techniques, but require instruction on the importance of adopting a set of practices for the system sustainability production. Due to a deficient information system by the cooperatives, producers demonstrate the need for information tools availability for sharing the experiences and ideas that encourage the adoption of these environmental practices.

Abstract (sommario):
The goal of this thesis report is to present my research concerning separation and Poincaré profiles. Separation profile first appeared in 2012 in a seminal article written by Benjamini, Schramm and Timár. This definition was based on preceding research, in the field of computer science, mainly work of Lipton and Trajan concerning planar graphs, and of Miller, Teng, Thurston and Vavasis concerning overlap graphs. The separation profile plays now a role in geometric group theory, where my personal interests lies, because of its property of monotonicity under coarse embeddings. It was generalized by Hume, Mackay and Tessera in 2019 to a spectrum of profiles, called the Poincaré profiles

Low, Tyrone. "The Development of a Low Profile Alpine Touring Binding". Thesis, University of Canterbury. Mechanical Engineering, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/5198.

Testo completo
Abstract (sommario):
The design of alpine touring ski bindings has remained relatively static for the past fifteen years. During this period, the lack of innovative breakthroughs has become obvious through the number of customers who are currently unsatisfied by the products available on the market. This observation has presented a significant commercial opportunity to satisfy these users, plus many more non-consumers, with an innovative binding design. The objective of this project was to design a low profile alpine touring binding with the aim of satisfying the needs of these users. The resulting design followed a full year of research and development in the field of alpine touring bindings. Not only were concepts formed from completely untethered and open minded thinking, but they were also formed from reviewing various designs that already existed. These designs ranged from previous alpine touring bindings that either failed or succeeded in the market for various reasons, to completely unrelated mechanisms and designs forms. Through this process, several well formed and feasible design concepts were obtained which potentially met the design specification requirements of both high performing alpine touring bindings and downhill bindings. Detailed design and analysis followed, along with the manufacture of a fully functional prototype. This was then tested and evaluated to determine the project as a success. This project can be grouped only with a small amount of research ever conducted on the topic of alpine touring bindings. The findings, discussion and results of this work can therefore be used as a benchmark for future study into this field. Through the meticulous research conducted on skiing and ski bindings and the thorough design work carried out towards producing a prototype, this thesis presents the complete process of designing a new and innovative ski binding.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract (sommario):
The present thesis aims to study creativity assessments in design. More precisely, this research focuses on the evaluation of creative productions in graphic design area and it is based on complementary methods of analysis of used criteria and "evaluative referents". It aims to identify, in various assessment contexts, factors that exert an influence on the judgments of creative productions. It develops a multiple feedback approach by exploring assessments made by judges with different professional backgrounds (designers, art directors, design teachers and targeted audience) and levels of experience in design (asserted experts, intermediary experts and laypeople). The research frame includes different contexts of assessment situations and tries to capture the characteristics of judges' approaches to creativity in design, on the basis of three complementary studies. The first study focusses on judges' mental representations by exploring criteria they declare important to creativity in design. The second study allows an analysis of correlations between scores attributed to design productions with regard to different criteria as well as an analysis of inter-judge agreement on them. The third study aims to perform qualitative analyses of spontaneous verbalizations expressed by judges during their analyses of design outcomes

Abstract (sommario):
Microalgae has shown to be an ideal choice for biofuel industry. Algae has high oil productivity, a short growth cycle and survives in a wide variety of water sources including high salinity and waste water. For this project, four different species of marine microalgae were screened based on oil content. They were Dunaliella tertiolecta (CCMP364), Nannochloropsis gaditana (CCMP527), Tetraselmis sp (CCMP 908) and Nannochloropsis salina (CCMP1776). Experimental results showed that CCMP 527 and 1776 strains had higher lipid content and better fatty acids profile than the other two. Further investigations were carried on CCMP 527 in order to maximize biomass productivity and lipid content. Nutrients, salinity, pH, temperature, light intensity and aging of the culture can all affect both lipid content and fatty acid profile and were investigated. Nutrient stress is the easiest way to manipulate lipid composition and increase lipid content. Hence, various carbon and nitrogen sources were investigated to determine the range and amount of substrates that may be feasible for cultivation. For supplying lipid for biodiesel production, the optimum culture conditions for strain Nannochloropsis gaditana are using CO₂ enriched air bubbling, f/2-Si medium, pH control, and nitrate as the nitrogen source. Use of other fertilizers is feasible as well, however, the nitrogen source greatly affects lipid productivity, but trace amounts of organics in ground water do not.A model which predicts cell growth, nitrogen concentration, and lipid yield in batch systems is developed that is applicable for low nitrogen conditions. Plus, a sensitivity analysis of three major parameters was done to validate how variations in these key parameters affect simulation results. The fatty acid profile as a function of time was shown not to vary from mid-exponential to stationary phase. The model describes reactor behavior well, therefore it can be applied to the genus of Nannochloropsis to predict biomass yield and lipid accumulation, and be a useful tool to optimize and compare bioreactor systems for the biofuel industry. In addition, effects of nitrate and urea under repletion condition on microalgae growth, lipid yield and fatty acids profile for microalgae Nannochloropsis gaditana were investigated. Replacing nitrate by urea didn't show positive influence on lipid content and yield compared to normal medium. The major fatty acids for these two mediums were palmitic acid (C16:0) and palmitioleic acid (C16:1). Nannochloropsis gaditana still shows to be ideal candidate for biodiesel production using urea or nitrate enriched agriculture wastewater.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractProduct design is a process developed by specialized profiles such as designers or engineers. For this reason, most of product design and/or manufacturing methods developed are aimed at experienced professionals. However, in the current social and technological context, we observe that the number of prosumers, users who partially produce the products they consume, is increasing. These users are involved in design, manufacturing or assembly phases of the product to obtain final results that respond to specific needs and desires. Given this emerging trend, we wonder if there are methodologies focused on these users in particular, both in the academic field and in practice. This work aims to clarify this issue through a review of research papers and real cases. The results obtained differentiate between the methodologies that have been defined in the academic field and those that have not been compiled but whose repeated use has agreed its application and existence in practice. The methodologies identified are analyzed in two tables that summarize how they are applied and what their main objective is. The results and conclusions offer both the scientific community and the prosumers a series of product design and manufacturing methods focused on non-specialized profiles.

Abstract (sommario):
The market is a complex system with many different stakeholders and interactions. A number of decisions within this system affect the design of new products, not only from design teams but also from consumers, producers, and policy-makers. Market systems studies have shown how profit-optimal producer decisions regarding product design and pricing can influence a number of different factors including the quality, environmental impact, production costs, and ultimately consumer demand for the product. This study models the ways that policies and consumer demand combine in a market systems framework to influence optimal product design and, in particular, product quality and environmental sustainability. Implementing this model for the design of a mobile phone case shows how different environmental impact assessment methods, levels of taxation, and factors introduced to the consumer decision-making process will influence producer profits and overall environmental impacts. This demonstrates how different types of policies might be evaluated for their effectiveness in achieving economic success for the producer and reduced environmental impacts for society, and a “win-win” scenario was uncovered in the case of the mobile phone.

Abstract (sommario):
Summary Late in the life of the Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) process, it has become common practice to drill a single, horizontal infill well (called a “Wedge Well™” by some) in the oil bank located between two mature SAGD well pairs to produce the bitumen that has been heated and mobilized but is unable to be effectively drained by gravity given the largely lateral location relative to that of the SAGD producers. Since this oil bank is surrounded by the large, depleted steam chamber created by the existing well pairs, it requires little heat to mobilize bitumen. One of the challenges, however, in producing infill wells is that non-uniform drainage and local hot spots can be readily created in the first year of their operation, that in many cases require completion retrofits, such as with Flow Control Devices (FCDs), to improve the drainage profile. Installation of FCDs in these wells is quite challenging since the dynamics of the infill wells is changing with time and there is limited time to achieve conformance. To maintain pressure in SAGD chambers the common practice is to inject non-condensable gas (NCG). NCGs, such as methane, which is most common, do not condense in the steam chamber. Some of these NCG can short-cut into the infill through the existing hot-spot. The main reason is that the hot sections of infills are locations that are closer to the SAGD steam chamber, and due to steam condensate encroachment and higher mobility create a pathway for NCG breakthrough. FCDs are designed to promote a more uniform flux distribution along the producer, and exposure to NCG can change the impact of the FCDs. The true hot-spot temperature after NCG injection is decreasing and this can be mistaken as FCD efficiency and steam blocking. In reality, this temperature reduction is due to partial pressure effects associated with NCG encroachment. In this study, a new thermodynamic model is created to explain the NCG encroachment into infill wells, and a new temperature profile along the producer as a function of NCG breakthrough is calculated. The purpose of this work is to create a productivity index (PI) relationship that is fit for purpose for infill wells adjacent to SAGD well-pairs with NCG breakthrough that can primarily be used for analysis and optimization of SAGD FCD completions. This model can also be used to evaluate FCD performance in infill wells pre- and post- NCG breakthrough.

Abstract (sommario):
Natural gas accepted into the pipeline at receipt points is subject to gas quality specifications to ensure that downstream laterals and mainlines are not subjected to operational upsets, and that the integrity of the pipeline and related facilities is not compromised. One of the specifications is the maximum hydro-carbon dew point (HCDP) at the pipeline operating pressure. Occasionally, gas plants encounter operational upsets that result in a higher HCDP. If the HCDP exceeds the ground temperature, condensation of heavier hydrocarbon can potentially occur along the lateral. Ideally, after an upset has been detected and the producer has been shut in, the lateral would be pigged to remove the condensed hydrocarbons. However, if the lateral is unpiggable, the only way to remove the liquids is to evaporate them into a flow of dryer gas. The present paper compares two potential courses of action which may be taken after a high HCDP is detected at a receipt point on an unpiggable line: (a) flowing dry gas from the producer after the source of upset is corrected, or (b) pulling dryer gas back from the operator’s mainline through the lateral to the producer. In order to determine the most appropriate course of action for a given upset, the state of the lateral during and after the upset must first be accurately quantified. In the present paper, the state was modelled based on the governing equations of fluid flow including heat transfer and condensation, the GERG-2008 equation of state, and empirical liquid-hold-up equations. The effect of flow parameters (e.g., gas composition, lateral elevation profile, ground temperature, etc.) on the upset severity is explored. Subsequently, models for forward flow and pull back are presented, and the criteria for selecting when either course of action is appropriate are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
Improving design for market systems analysis relies on understanding the motivations and interactions among producers and consumers. Producers should theoretically develop their strategies for designing new products based on consumer demand and the expected profits from their sales. In this study, an agent-based modeling approach is proposed to simulate consumer and producer behavior for use in market systems analysis, and it is demonstrated through a simplified automobile market. In the model, consumers make heterogeneous purchasing decisions based on product attributes, which provides the producers with insights into their preferences and how to improve upon these design attributes over time. Emergent behavior of the model shows that analyzing the behavior of consumers provides the opportunity for producers to compete which one another with different strategies to improve their designs by investing in technology improvements. This lays the foundation for future work that can model how different business and regulatory strategies, social structures, and policies influence consumer and producer behavior, which in turn influences economic, environmental, and social impacts.

This contribution deals with development of a small-size axial steam turbine stator with nominal outlet Mach number equal to 2. Shortening of existing stator geometry was the main goal in order to improve rotor dynamic behaviors. The stator inlet angle appreciably differs in a real machine, therefore it was very important to ensure insensitivity to the inlet angle in a wide range of it. Technological simplicity was also followed to decrease production costs. Description of the new profile geometry development is introduced and results from numerical simulations done by turbine producer Prvni´ Brneˇnska´ Stroji´rna (PBS) are summarized. Developed geometry of a linear cascade and also stator geometry was studied experimentally at the research institute Vy´zkumny´ a Zkusˇebni´ Letecky´ U´stav (VZLU) in the next step. Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Traditional waterflooding methods in heavy oil fields can lead to several problems including reductions of swapping efficiency, channeling of injected water, and low values of recovery factor. These problems are often made worse by other critical factors such as lack of real-time data, operational incidents during injection profile calibration, and complexity of interventions in the existing wells. An innovative solution was implemented in a four-zone injector well in a heavy oil field in Colombia consisting of four intelligent electric valves controlled remotely and distributed fiber optic monitoring to calculate injected flow per zone in real-time. This system allowed the operator to increase oil production in the associated producer wells and eliminate rig-less interventions. The first installation of an All-Electric intelligent completion with distributed fiber optic monitoring was successfully deployed in a complex existing injector well without HSE incidents nor deviations in time and cost. After one year of operation, the system increased production in corresponding producer wells by 62% and saved 30% of operational costs. Additionally, the completion design has improved the injection performance which means that the system requires less injected water to produce the same amount of oil. All these results were possible thanks to the use of a more efficient injection completion and the use of real-time data to make on-time decisions. The importance of this implementation is that it demonstrated that this type of technology not only solves different challenges of the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) strategies of mature fields but also brings additional value in terms of oil production, injection performance, and reduction in operational costs. In this way, this application showed that an intelligent completion - usually expensive in terms of initial investment - is financially viable to implement in mature existing wells with limited CAPEX availability. This paper will present the implementation of an intelligent well completion system that uses permanent distributed fiber optics to monitor water injection in 4 independent zones. The document will also include details regarding the reasons to install this technology in a mature field, well and technology selection, intelligent completion design, and installation. Results will be compared to conventional completion for injector wells that depends on rig-less intervention to measure and regulate injected flow per zone.

Abstract (sommario):
In order to shorten the design process of a multi-chambered profile, it is important to integrate the Technological Findings of the production and the evaluation of the manufactured product in a structured and systematic way, providing mathematical optimization. The development of profiles exposed to cyclic mechanical loading has to take into consideration their fatigue properties. This paper proposes a classification structure of the existing Technological Findings of Linear Flow Splitting and the continuous manufacturing line. The classification is realized by an ontology, modeling the manufacturing processes, machines, the geometry of the semi-finished product, sub-processes, engaged machine components and specific conditions for the employed material. A profile manufactured by linear flow splitting is subject to severe changes of local material properties. This affects the fatigue properties of the profile. The paper focuses on preparing the integration of these fatigue properties in a simplified approach into the mathematical optimization. The approach is developed by modeling examples of profiles with different material properties by methods of mathematical optimization. The examples are applied to a numerical fatigue evaluation. Results and conclusions drawn of this analysis are incorporated in the ontology as data and rules, serving as an input for the optimization.

Abstract (sommario):
The Handil field is one of the mature fields in the Mahakam Delta, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. This field is widely known as an oil producer for more than 40 years with peak production of 180,000 BOPD in 1977 and has been challenging in terms of oil production decline ever since. Today, this field delivers ~16,000 BOPD from 115 active wells with more than 90% of oil production coming from gas lifted wells. Therefore, evaluating gas lift performance is very crucial to maintain hydrocarbon production of the field. As a gas lift well is produced, it is common to find gas lift unloader damage, sealing element problems, or even leaks at the tubing due to aging of equipment that degrades the gas lift performance. This paper explains the use of well testing data on investigating the performance of gas lift by estimating gas lift injection depth. The best fit vertical lift correlation should be chosen to represent actual pressure profile of the wells inside the tubing and annulus casing pressure. Estimated injection point is derived from gas lift unloader valve opening status or meeting point between tubing and casing pressure profile. The calculation was done using computational simulation and was applied for every flowing gas lifted well in an integrated module. Based on the simulation, wells that were found to encounter behavior anomalies requested to perform P-T (pressure temperature) + spinner surveys to confirm leak points prior to leak isolations. Based on 3 proven leak cases, it is confirmed that estimated gas lift injection point from simulation versus production logging survey are in line. In 2019, we had 6 gas lift well cases that were confirmed to have a leak and continued with a leak isolation program. After these wells were put back into production, it gave cumulative oil production of up to almost 100,000 Bbls oil. The high success rates of this method verifies the applicability of this effective approach to maintain gas lift performance and is easy to replicate for others PSC companies.

Abstract (sommario):
Our traditional design has been producer-centric. But to respond to the frequent and extensive changes and increasing diversification, we have to change our design to user-centric. But it is not a straightforward extension and just listening to the voice of the customer is not enough. Value is defined as value = performance/cost, but performance has been interpreted in the current design solely as functions of a final product and all other factors such as manufacturing are considered as cost. This framework has been effective until recently because there has been asymmetry of information between the producer and the customer. As the producer had a greater amount of information, they only had to produce a product which they think best and it really satisfied the customer who needed a product. The 20th century was the age of products. But as we approached the 21st century, we entered information society and sometimes the customer knows more than the producer. Thus, such a one way flow of development to fill the information (water level) gap doe not work any more, because the gap is quickly disappearing. The difference was evaluated as value in the traditional design and it meant profit for the producer. Therefore, a new approach to create value is called for. One solution is to raise the water level together by the producer and the customer so that the level increase serves for profit for the producer and for the true value for the customer. In order to achieve this goal, we have to identify what is the true value for the customer. We have to step outside of our traditional notion of value being functions of a final product. What is the true value for the customer? It is customers’ satisfaction. Then, how can we satisfy our customers. This paper points out if we note that our customers are very active and creative, we can provide satisfaction to them by getting them involved in the whole process of product development. Then our customers can enjoy not only product experience but also process experience, which will satisfy their needs for self actualization and challenge, i.e., their highest human needs.

Abstract (sommario):
This profile establishes a basic taxonomy of IPv6 capabilities, defined in terms of IETF specifications, resulting in specific capability labels for common network functions and usage scenarios. The profile maps each such labeled capability to one or more specific technical specifications, or parts of specifications. Each labeled capability adopts by reference the normative requirements of the cited specifications. In rare cases the profile may augment or modify the normative requirements of a base specification. The defined capability labels effectively form a vocabulary for expressing IPv6 requirements for, and documenting the IPv6 capabilities of, specific products. It is expected that, when combined with specific acquisition and product testing programs, this profile can facilitate the efficient adoption of IPv6 technologies in many industry sectors.
