Testo completoSeveral years ago, the devices of Open Distance Learning first made their entry into higher education, from both the Lebanese and the French sides. The experiments and the research work are primarily devoted to issues related to “médiatisation” of contents (the use of technology), sharing them and then focusing on those related to the relational dimension of devices. The prospect of intercultural learning focuses on the relational dimension of devices and on the research foundation in the field of information – communication based on hybrid devices of learning in a Center for language and resources (CLER*) at Antonine University, Lebanon. This thesis is based on a Franco - Lebanese project dealing with online collaborative writing conducted for four years, between 2005 and 2009. The description of the project, the nature of the collaboration and the solutions implemented shed light on the general problem of the relation between “mediation” and “médiatisation” in the educational process. A particular attention is paid to difficulties encountering students involved in the project in building open relations with their partners. In order to understand the stakes, the dynamics affecting the construction of digital identities and the buildup of necessary trust among the partners of a project based on online collaborative work are being highlighted. These approaches open up prospects for further experience in other contexts
Electronic Thesis or Diss., Strasbourg, 2024. http://www.theses.fr/2024STRAC019.
Testo completoSince the 1960s or 1970s, there are hardly any speakers in Alsace whose only language is Alsatian.French and Alsatian dialects are co-present in the language repertoire of dialect speakers. The impact of French on the use of Alsatian goes back a long way, but it seems to have become more important over time in different ways. The aim of this work is to identify and analyse the language contact phenomena caused by language contact with French and to partially describe Alsatian as it is spoken today in a French and French-speaking context, by providing explanatory keys that emerge from the theoretical considerations of language contact research
Riguel, Emilie. "Les phrasal verbs : usage, acquisition (L1 & L2), et enseignement". Thesis, Sorbonne Paris Cité, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016USPCA166.
Testo completoAlthough typical and inevitable in the English language, phrasal verbs, however, represent a real scourge to non-English-speaking students. A quantitative study based on a comparison between an interlanguage corpus of English as a foreign language (International Corpus of Learner English, Version 2) and a control corpus (Louvain Corpus of Native English Essays) thus highlights the underrepresentation of phrasal verbs in non-English-speaking students’ written productions. Secondly, from a qualitative study examining the use of phrasal verbs in excerpts from non-native students’ essays, we draw up a typology of errors made by non-English-speaking learners with regard to phrasal verbs. A discussion on new approaches to a better learning/teaching of phrasal verbs is also proposed. To provide some answers to this question, our approach consists in observing the genesis of this construction in the English-speaking child’s language. Indeed, the role of multiword constructions has particularly been emphasized in theories of first language acquisition (Goldberg, 1995; Tomasello, 2003). Besides, they are a rich and productive source of predication that children from most of the language communities acquire at a very early age. Yet, no studies dedicated to the acquisition and usage of verb-particle constructions in young English-speaking children have been carried out so far. This thesis aims to study the emergence and development of verb-particle constructions in child language by analyzing longitudinal data from the spontaneous oral speech of two monolingual English-speaking children, Naima and Ella, respectively followed between ages 0;11 and 3;10 and between ages 1;00 and 4;00. The corpora transcripts come from the CHILDES database (MacWhinney, 2000a).Finally, this thesis also focuses on the acquisition and use of particle placement within direct transitive phrasal verbs in English-speaking children’s speech. In particular, a multifactorial analysis of several linguistic variables will be conducted to see if children reproduce the same linguistic pattern as adults in their productions of both types of direct transitive verb-particle constructions (i.e. continuous configuration V-Prt-O and split configuration V-O-Prt)

Testo completoOur research deals with the integration of ICT in the school environment and its influence on the acquisition of the French language. It is worth noting that the teaching of French in Lebanon is a special case in that French is both taught as a second language and used as language of instruction. After giving an overview of the integration of computers in official instructions (1998 – 1999), the study presents the context of the research; i. E. , French teaching in Lebanon, teaching and learning methods and activities. The research also presents some background information of the school in which the study is done. A second phase of the research is devoted to the execution of new situations that integrate ICT in oral presentations. The research does not present a laboratory situation in which the variables are controlled. The observations focused on the students, the didactic tools and methods they were given, the educational scenarios they had to perform, and their use of the computer systems at their disposal. Our approach of ICT in this study is deliberately interdisciplinary. We have chosen socio-constructivist educational models based on active construction of knowledge. Our approach is also based on the achievement of complex and complete tasks. Small group work is preferred. The aim of this study is to assess the individual competences acquired while learning in team with CAP software (Computer-Aided Presentation) or with more traditional methods. Comparing individual results allows to better understand the effects of the experiment and to draw conclusions as to its effectiveness

Testo completoThis work of thesis is situated in the continuity of the searches on the contacts of languages in Senegal, multilingual country. Senegal just like the other French-speaking African countries presents a sociolinguistic space characterized by contacts between national languages and the official language, French giving birth to a form to speak urban called "urban Wolof" or "franwolof".This study concerns the Wolof and the sérère, the national languages of Senegal, in touch with French, within the framework of uses which are made in the New information technologies and of the Communication still (NTIC). Analyses will be led compared to the oral practices and from the messages collected on Facebook and on discussion forums. How the national languages that are the Wolof and the sérère are valued in the linguistic practices and on the Internet ? This main interrogation will be associated with the following various questions of research : what relationships national languages (Wolof and sérère) they do maintain in the oral and with French in the on-line exchanges? / What differences with the oral practices? The Wolof and the sérère are they valued in the linguistic practices and in the electronic exchanges ? How the participants and the Internet users show their identities in their exchanges? How materialize the representations of the speakers with regard to (compared with) the languages which they speak ? What is the place of both national languages at the beginning of the 21th century in a Senegalese society marked by the multilingualism? What is the place of the languages in the definition of the identities of multilingual speakers? / What interests (in the material and symbolic point of view) are made by the use of these languages by the speakers? What roles for their valuation? To bring answers to these questions, the analysis will concern the notions of identity, representations, diglossia, the statutes of these three languages which coexist within the Senegalese territory, on the arrangement, the linguistic politics led to Senegal etc. This work will lean on an analysis of conversations realized with participants wolophones and schooled sérérophones or not and of data collected on Facebook and on discussion forums. This approach will allow to approach the manners the participants of which resort to both national languages in touch with French in the conversations and in the electronic papersKey words: sociolinguistics, multilingualism, New technologies of information and the communication, Codeswitching, Wolof language, serere language, valorization

Testo completoThis study is based on a corpus of interactions recorded during experience working in a Chinese company involve in public works and established in Gabon, in which Chinese employees and their Gabonese partners are using French language in their professional relationships. We will consider links between language practices and social practices related to commercial negotiations connected to the company’s activities, according to the discursive strategies perspectives. Firstly, we will analyse strategies produced by the configuration of the different variety of languages and related communication’s norms, used by Chinese employees having learned French in Africa with their Gabonese partners. Secondly, the study will focus on the discursive register produced by relationships between a Chinese employee and his Gabonese partner, and strategies related to discursive and pre-discursive phenomena, which appears in interactions between interpreters/translators of the Chinese company and their partners. Thirdly, we will consider the interpretation situations and study the influence of interactional and discursive phenomena on the translation for non-French speaker members of the executive staff and their partners, particularly in the public works ministry. This research uses different kind of sciences of language movement (variationism, interactional linguistic, discourse analyses) to describe new language practices appearing in the French speaking countries of Africa, and to consider these practices as social acts, involved in sino-african business relationships

Testo completoThe objective of this thesis is to provide a pedagogical tool to practitioners and theorists of teaching which would encourage them to think about a major issue : the group dunamic in the foreign language class. The principal theme of this research is the idea that the foreign language class should be-par excellence- a place for communication in which interactivity is favoured. We shall first of all analyse the concept if group in its broadest sense, in order to arrive at a study of the group-class and above all the foreign language class : the activity of teaching, the students and the relationship teacher-students. The thesis will then go on to examine the practice of group work in the foreign language class. We shall describe the group techniques and underline the advantages of this kind of approach compared with individual work. Finally, we shall present number of thoughts about the training of teachers and goreign language instructors, while identifying the overriding objective of this training : gaining the necessary competence for absorbing and personalizing the acquired skills, in order to subsequently adapt them to each group of students
Govain, Renauld. "Plurilinguisme, pratique du français et appropriation de connaissances en contexte universitaire en Haïti". Paris 8, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA083460.
Testo completoThis thesis is about multilingualism in Haiti: it studies the mastery of French by students of the Université d’État d’Haïti by presenting an objective photography of their degree of competence in French based on the analysis of texts produced in this language by these students. The analysis shows that they don’t master French to the proportion of fifteen years of learning (in) French in a francophone educative system where French is a second and official language. However, their level of competence in this language is not a handicap in the process of acquiring knowledge, contrary to some apprehensions. The main problem is observed in their ability to practice oral French. This study shows that linguistic and educative policies in Haiti do not throw light on and do not regulate linguistic practices; they don’t help to improve competence in French. Since their pedagogical and administrative aspects are not outlined, they favor illiteracy, the lowering of the level of competence in French and in other languages. Sometimes, they might lead to failure and early drop-out phenomena in school. In addition, the analysis of students’ productions gives a picture of the system of Haitian French with own norms (normes endogènes) which set it apart from other varieties of French. It also shows that curriculum reform and new linguistic policies are necessary and an institute of teacher training is needed. They need concerted action about French, about the other languages and teaching-learning and about the Haitian education system in general

Testo completoThis dissertation, dealing with open educational resources in digital format by schoolteachers, aims at considering the pedagogical concerns of those resources, mainly in French language and science technology in the cycle 3 of primary school. Classroom observations, questionnaire surveys, studying a body of documents (comprised of files related to the Information Technology and Internet Certificate Level 2 - Teacher (ITIC)), and semi-structured interviews with the teachers of 3rd cycle help collect relatively convergent data on this subject matter. The main findings and conclusions of this research are the following ones : regarding the uses : the teachers we interviewed use open digital resources that are often associated with other pedagogical resources and take sometimes the same role as other resources in the teaching of French language, science and technology in the 3rd cycle. Thus, the use of these open resources is well established in science and technology more than in the teaching of French language. Regarding the educational concerns : we found that these resources could modify and even encourage practices related to planning, to the adjustment and to the implementation of elementary instructions. They pave the way to other opportunities for teachers to consolidate learning activities, by allowing pupils to validate various, documented, and sometimes, collaborative tasks. These opportunities are the immediate outcomes of the use of a number of open resources such as Framacalc, Vikidia, Wikimine

Testo completoThis action-research questions the didactics of interculturality and plurilingualism through an innovative intervention at school : philosophy workshops with allophone teenagers newly arrived in France. The existential experience of philosophical practice and its collaborative organization foster intercultural dynamics that transcend preconceived cultural models. This pedagogical approach considers young people as (thinking, acting, critical) subjects and contributes to their linguistic, educational, and social inclusion. Multimodal language mediations give symbolic access to the variability of world representations and emphasize the fundamental intraductibility of language. This observation implies considering the performative function of language, from a didactic point of view, while exploring the relations of meanings, through languages. The paradigm of intersectionality structures this research since we focus on what emerges at the crossroads of languages, thoughts et imaginaries. Philosophizing in languages, from an intercultural perspective, renders possible the collaborative invention of universal-singular thoughts and languages. The thesis proposes a humanistic and complex approach to the linguistic and socio-cultural creolization in educational settings and thus questions the ethical and socio-political dimension of the didactics of languages and cultures

Testo completoThe subject that we treated here is focused on ' multilingualism in the Comoros and its problem '. It opens on the issue of multilingualism in society in general, but also at school, rather than language learning. The Comoros is a country where it alternates several languages that have different status from their usefulness and their level of use in society and in school. Currently the languages used in the majority of Comorian society are found to be the Comorian with its different dialects which is the national language of the Comorian people, the French who came to the Comoros from colonization and Arabic from Islam. All of these languages have official status in view of the constitutional texts of the country. That's why we talk about multilingualism in the Comorian society but also at school. It focused the work of an introduction where was exposed the problem of the language situation and plurilingual by allocating different languages with different levels of application. These languages vary between official, second and foreign language who have put their fingerprints on the Comorian language, influenced by them in several areas. Comorian languages are characterized by different dialects and were exposed to the elements of differentiation. To facilitate learning and teaching of Arabic and French, we proceed to a comparative approach between them and the Comoros by illustrating the differences and similarities of each Jurisdiction. Their teaching is old but encountered by their major obstacles in the society

Testo completoThis research operates a change in the mode of construction of research object in the sciences of Linguistics. It tries to understand, through an anthropological and sociolinguistic survey by interviews, the subjective relationship of young Algerian speakers with regard to their languages (Algerian, Arabic, Tamazight, French). Although attitudes towards these languages have been imposed on the analysis in order to clarify the particularly complex status of the languages used in Algeria, this research attempts more particularly to understand a relationship often taken for granted: the subjective relationship to their so-called language of "religion", "the Arabic language" (without further specification). Many questions have prompted the sociolinguistic and anthropological inquiry from which the questioning centered on the myth of the sacred in the Arabic language begins.Intrinsically linked to the Koran, this body of an imaginary Umma to which all Algerian Arabic and Berber speaker imagine belonging to or not, the Arabic language creates ambivalent positions among its speakers. What are the subjectives positions of Algerian students motivated by success, driven by their dreams, with regard to the Arabic language of religion? Does the multi-diglossic dimension that inspires the fluctuating positions ("language / dialect") designations lead to specificities among Algerian-speaking and / or Berber-speaking speakers? If so, what attitudes and representations contain this god-glossic ideology? Do the speakers assume the "sacred" designation associated with the Arabic language? Is the linguistic imagination (the language of Adam, of Paradise, pure, our language, the language of intercomprehension) likely to influence the linguistic behavior of Arabic speakers? Indeed, who better than an Arabic speaker to explain the cleavage between a kind of exaggerated respect for the form of what is designated "language" on one side, at the same time, its stigmatization on the other. Could it be the order of the fetishism of language? Answering these questions reveals how each of the young Algerian speakers interviewed expresses their subjective relationship to their language of religion and schooling: sublime for one, horrible for the Other, the sacred language has "More than one trick up its sleeve "

Testo completoThis study initiated from the domain of educational technologies and its use in French teaching. As we know, the integration of technology into teachers’ practices is still a complex phenomenon. Many factors, like continuous training, influence this processes. Therefore, we wonder about the impact of continuous training on introducing ICT (information and communication technology) into teachers’ practices. The main purpose of this research project is to understand deeply the process of introducing and using ICT at Lebanese schools, and to understand in which ways the professionalization of teachers favors the introduction of ICT into classrooms. We conduct this study while relying on the results produced by research in many fields like educational technology, professionalization of teachers and didactic method of French language. This knowledge serves us to build our literature revue, and realize our field studies. This research is composed of two studies: the first one is quantitive to examine the actual situation of ICT integration; the second is qualitative to understand the impact of training on using ICT in teaching practices in French classes in Lebanese schools. Knowing to which extent continuous training promotes the integration of ICT into teacher’s practices at primary schools, and understanding the contributions and limits of these training allow new proposals of training to improve the introduction of ICT

Testo completoLanguage and culture are inhabited by the concept of intergenerational and transgenerational transmission. Therefore, the cultural and linguistic transmissions are inherent in all people and all societies. However, the terms of these differ according to the generations and territories.Martinique is a French department overseas who would not rid the throes of colonization. A former French colony, its slave past challenges the current education system in Martinique. The abrupt transition from a traditional to a modern society is actually an acculturation Creole language and culture and assimilation to the language and French culture. This has caused a culture of resistance that is similar to the hills in the time of plantation society. Traditional cultural practices reflect certain forms of resistance: the bèlè is both a dance and music dating back to the colonial period; while the round skiff is a practice dating from the post-colonial society. Become iconic in Martinique, these practices were media claims of Martinican culture. They are subject to a reappropriation today; which causes a change in their modes of transmission and officials in charge thereof. Two methods exist to Martinique: an informal transmission that falls within traditional education and formal transmission whose codification is that of modern society. This raises the problem of transmission. Some analytical logic clearly demonstrates that the bèlè and the round yawl is acquired by imitation in rural areas and are learned within the national education and associations. It is the same for the Creole language: it remains a mother tongue for some, by way of acquisition or evolve as a second language for others through learning. Furthermore, transforming a language spoken in a language of writing leads to a loss in the transmission process. It is the same for traditional practices. However, any loss involves appropriation of language and culture. Thus, both in the language of traditional practices, new language and linguistic forms are trying to generalize through the formal evaluation. These new modes of expression seem to modernize not (dance), gestures (technical) and highlight the lexical, syntactic and semantic features to be adapted to the European Framework of Reference for Languages (EFRL). The transmission then becomes a concept traditionality in modern and modernized world. It concerns all agents: they fall within traditional education that modern education

Testo completoABSTRACT The phenomenon of news automation, characterized by the process of transformation of structured data into texts in natural language or any other form of visual representation, asks the question about how it is integrated within newsrooms. If it can be considered as a finished product that will be delivered to audiences without journalistic mediation, this thesis is interested in its aspect related to the support of journalistic practices. Often associated with the metaphor of the "robot journalist," news automation encourages dual representations that reflect its challenges: either a threat against employment and professional identity or an opportunity through an enchanted vision of the reinvention of journalism. This thesis explores how journalists tackle this new form of relationship as an artefact, as a tool, that is supposed to free them from repetitive and time-consuming tasks or to provide them an additional source of information. The aims of this research project are, therefore, to understand how it will shape new professional uses, to identify the causes of resistance that could lead to non-uses, and to contribute to a better understanding of a man-machine relationship developed under tension. Considering that one cannot make use of a given technology without representing it, how will the social representations and cultural practices of journalists contribute to shaping the uses (and the non-uses) of news automation software when it is considered as a journalistic tool? This research question was examined according to two hypotheses: that of the impact of the robot metaphor, and that of the adequacy of the material productions of the artefact with journalistic know-how and requirements. The analysis is based on conceptual and theoretical frameworks proposed by the SCOT model (Social Construction of Technology) and by the French school of the sociology of uses. It is approached through an empirical study conducted within two newsrooms in French-speaking Belgium, which are radically different both in their professional culture and in their organizational structure. In these two experiences, we have followed the process of a socio-technical construction which involved journalists in the design process. Although this first form of use does not guarantee the end-use of the two automation artefacts, it does lay the groundwork for adoption. The reasons to explain the observed resistances are not necessarily related to the nature of the object. They are also to be found in a lack of interest, a form of technophobia, a lack of appetite for a data-driven approach, a questioning of the management, or the dual representation induced by the robot metaphor. The mechanism for structuring the use will, therefore, be developed through a complex process shaped by both endogenous factors linked to the organizational context and journalistic routines, and exogenous factors related to the broader frameworks of the technological imaginaries and the man-machine relationship.

Testo completoThis thesis is a description of French as practised in Mauritania. This work is based on a corpus made up written productions by secondary school pupils in French classes. It seeks to find out wether the situation of permanent contacts between French and the Mauritanian languages could have instances which produce a particular form of the local practices of French. Such an objective requires taking into account the subsystems of the languages concerned. Thus, the adopted perspective lies primarily in the prolongation of the comparative works, carried out in contrastive linguistics. But the nature of the subject itself and the choice of the field of study locate this study at the confluence of several disciplines at the same. The contrastive analysis has here, indeed, for base the transfer theory used in the didactic studies in the learning situations of a second or foreign language and centred mainly of the effects which the native tongue of the pupil can have on such a learning situation. The reductive framework of the sentence itself cannot account for all the observed forms of restructuring, the method of analysis is widened thanks to the tools of textual grammar. It is to be mentioned in this regard, however, that the majority of the pupils whose productions we study in this project, is that they already practise at least two, or even come to know three, of the local languages which are acquired generally well before French. The complexity of the human framework necessitates a sociolinguistic presentation of the Mauritanian context, as a prerequisite. This entails foregrounding the power relations between the various languages and the effective management of plurilinguism, parameters without which one cannot understand the restructurations caused by the local practices of French

Testo completoIf we understand “strange” in the former sense of “foreign, alien” as well as “unusual or surprising”, « strange words » play a significant role in Shakespeare’s drama, whether they take the form of single words, whole sentences or even entire scenes written in a foreign language. Shakespearian heterolingualism (Rainier Grutman) also encompasses social or regional varieties of English in the plays. Its importance, however, has less to do with quantity than quality. Indeed, Shakespeare’s “strange words” are highly theatrical and often take centre stage, in an age when the English language itself was beginning to define its identity. Their role is rarely ornamental—they destabilise and unsettle their host language even as they playfully interact with it, as is demonstrated by the many interlingual puns concocted by Shakespeare. Moreover, the cohabitation of languages in some of Shakespeare’s plays can sometimes lead to questionable acts of translation. As Shakespeare stages the frequent “slips” of translation, he unveils the other side of the English language, which always runs the risk of becoming foreign in its turn. The translation of Shakespeare’s heterolingual texts themselves is no less problematic. The trial of the doubly foreign presents the translator with a number of challenges that this thesis proposes to explore. Nevertheless, if the plurality of languages is usually perceived as a curse when it comes to translation, it also opens up opportunities for the translating language: forcefully “de-provincialised” (Ricoeur), the mother tongue begins to thrive

It raises the question of the conditions of deployment, integration and promotion of this tool within the company and for that, we will try to analyze the logic of its use by placing them in their social institutional, organizational, and cultural development. This analysis assumes the inclusion of socio-economic and cultural aspects of the phenomena in question while demonstrating the influence of social and demographical variables (age, sex, place of residence, occupational status) on ownership, use and symbolic representations of each social class in respect of this technology by the light on the impact of this on the society and the family and its impact on health, the environment and road safety. Mobile telephony is a social phenomenon and a feature of developed countries which deserves to be studied. For this, we will take an empirical survey based approaches to media sociology and the sociology of uses to better understand the practices and modes of use of the mobile users in Algiers

Testo completoIn this PhD, I study the collective work of language teachers and its consequences for collectives and individuals, particularly with regard to the design and use of digital resources. To do this, I analyse the activity of three collectives of the region of Rennes by mobilising the theory of the documentational approach to didactics and that of the communities of practice. I first specify the community documentation, by proposing a description of the collective resource system, before explaining the community knowledge identified during the design work. In a second step, I describe the effects of the integration of this/these resource(s), collectively designed, in the practice of some teachers. To do this, I rely on the analysis of key episodes to uncover ongoing documentational genesis. My work introduces a schematization of the community resource system represented under a double level of description including the definition of blocks of situated collective resources. Finally, I propose a description of the schemes individually developed by teachers, articulating the document table and the design capacity concept

Testo completoThis research work examines the computational practices of Congolese primary school teachers who have been introduced to computer tools and services as part of the Francophone initiative for distance teacher training (IFADEM, in French). It proposes a discourse that distances itself from any a priori conformity or non-conformity to the norms of use prescribed by the body of trainers in information and communication technologies for education (ICTE). The aim of this doctoral project is to understand the "reversed" mechanisms - as singular as they are individual, as novel as they are unstable - by which each practitioner reinvents the use of ICTE (abnormal computational usage practices). What are the representational, contextual, pedagogical and transliterative factors by which some of these users act as practitioner-refusers? To answer this question, we carried out a microsociological analysis. Our methodology is based on a research-action-training approach, using both qualitative (interviews and screen tracking) and quantitative (statistical processing of questionnaires) techniques. Contrary to our initial hypotheses, the conclusions we reached are rather surprising

Testo completoDespite a high frequency of use and a tendency to present with adverse events of drugs, few studies assessed compliance with guidelines related to proper use of psychotropic drugs in the older population. The aim was to assess the patterns of psychotropic drugs use in this population, as well as the compliance with French guidelines. Two population samples were included, a clinical sample of older psychiatric inpatients and a sample of the older general population using claims database of the national health insurance. In clinical population, compliance with guidelines was rather good, with prescription of a short half-life benzodiazepine in nearly three quarters of prescriptions and adequate dosage in nearly two third of cases. However, treatment discontinuation was never specified at the time of treatment initiation and rhythm of prescription was discontinuous in only one third of cases. In the older general population, duration of antidepressant treatment and biological monitoring was appropriate in only 20 % of patients, whereas nearly three quarters of subjects initiating a benzodiazepine treatment were treated over an appropriate duration. However, less than half of them had received a benzodiazepine anxiolytic of short half-life. The assessment of the impact of practice guidelines publication found no improvement of psychotropic drugs use. Other interventions should accompany guidelines publication in order to underline the importance of proper use of drugs, particularly antidepressant treatment duration and use of short half-life benzodiazepine drugs

Testo completoOur search is part of a vast program which enquires into the study of original language in a multicultural society. Two main concepts were involved in the study : the original language and the cultural identity. Therefore, we tried to put it into practice by examining some children who mearn arabic language in a french school (two places in Toulouse : Bagatelle and le Mirail) when others don't want to or can not, for many reasons, have the advantage of that sort of education. We used the method of "questionnaire" meant for children in fifth primary form (french cm2) and the method "conservation" with children who are about twelve and thirteen years old. Why that kind of search ? To show clearly that, as a matter of fact, the original language is very important in the formation of the cultural identity. So, it seems that an institutional system is necessary to favour a multicultural fulfillment of concerned children

Testo completoOur work is a didactic, traductologic, and linguistic study. This work aims to find a solution for the French-Arabic / Arabic-French translation teaching in French as Foreign Language courses in Iraqi universities. The lack of noteworthy advances in translation teaching and the implementation of didactic techniques is the result of an imbalance between the program of French departments and the linguistic and didactic skills of the teacher. The interiorization of the target language grammar is one of the principal aims in language didactics. When a translation teacher resorts to an explicit grammar point, does this promote or hinder the interiorization of the grammar? It is necessary that the language and translation teachers pre-service training contains a solid introduction to two metalinguistic models.Despite the increasing number of studies on translation teaching, there is, to our knowledge, no study, especially in Iraq, on didactics of French-Arabic translation to the foreign language learners which could let them acquire translation skills. This work is important for the Iraqi academic system because there was no in-depth study on this matter before. It is necessary for the creation of French- Arabic translation departments in Iraqi universities. Our initiative includes the introduction of the new translation methods in Iraq as the DMA (Defining Matrix Analysis). This work particularly tackles the linguistic difficulties in translation using translations of Iraqi learners at the universities of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriyah. With this in mind, we conducted a survey among teachers of French and students of these universities. The purpose of this work is a reflection which aims to: Entrain the teacher to make linguistic analysis which will help them to become aware of the functioning of their language (in this case Arabic) and the differences of functioning between their language and the source language or the target language (in this case French). This analysis must focus on the functioning of the language and not on the learning or the comparison of the metalanguage or of a linguistic or grammatical theory, even if the tutor himself must have a consistent knowledge of linguistic theories.Make teachers capable of discovering the contradictory, often violent, debates that the traductologie can supply them with the tools that allow them to adopt a critical attitude within these debates. Instruct teachers to build a translation method with a relatively precise protocol that defines the different steps. Teach them to justify the method they have chosen

Testo completoDuring recent years, education and training have experienced greater phenomena of industrialization in particular under the influence of the development of technologies. The field of foreign language teaching and learning (FLT) has also undergone changes due to the internationalization of certification standards and the growth of private training sector. The foreign language teaching field in Vietnam is not immune to these developments that inevitably lead to significant changes in the process of professionalization of the teaching staff. Our research aims at highlighting the way foreign language teachers in both public and private sectors represent their professionalism in this new context and the priorities they consider important in terms of professionalization. To do this, we conducted our empirical research in two stages: a pre-survey by interviews with colleagues in Dalat and a supplementary survey by an online questionnaire. The analysis of the 14 semi-structured interviews of the first phase helped us to build the questionnaire that was intended for a wider audience of teachers in the country. Our questionnaire survey (N 364) allowed us to draw three different profiles which are differently positioned in terms of the evolution of FLT. The discussion of the determinants of each profile provides a better understanding of the professional development dynamics of Vietnamese foreign language teachers

Testo completoThis study focuses on Nandikeśvara’s Abhinayadarpaṇa, « The Mirror of Gesture », a medieval Sanskrit treatise about the art of gestural expression. Today this text is a very popular theoretical reference in the bharatanāṭyam milieu, the classical dance of Tamil Nadu (South-East India), since the so-called 1930s revivalism. Through philological and ethnographic approaches, this study aims at analysing the various forms and ways of appropriation of this text. The study and translation of the Sanskrit text, the analysis of intertextuality with other Sanskrit treatises and of various English « edition-translations », and the study of the contemporary use of the text by bharatanāṭyam practitioners (using original data from one year of fieldwork in Chennai and Pondicherry, 2013 to 2016) will make it possible, on the one hand, to explore the polymorphic and dynamic aspects of this treatise, whose forms both reflect and normalise practices - and, on the other hand, to distinguish a text-practice, from Ancient India to the present day, which takes the shape of a discursive and gestural commentaries

Testo completoDigital Literacy is the ability, awareness, and attitude of individuals to appropriately andeffectively use digital tools to search digital resources, to participate, collaborate andcommunicate in a variety of situations. Our thesis aims to study Chinese FFL (French as aforeign language) students’ digital literacy, through the analysis of their digital practices forFrench language learning. We seek to answer the following two questions: 1) What digitalliteracy do Chinese students have for FFL learning? 2) What factors influence the development o fstudents' digital literacy? Based on a holistic-mixed-pragmatic perspective, the research design uses both quantitative and qualitative methods of data collection: the questionnaire survey, student diary, semi-structured interview, and participant observation. The analysis is conductedin two phases. The quantitative phase is carried out through statistical analysis of the results ofthe questionnaire survey and the students' diaries. The approach provides a profile of thestudents' digital literacy for language learning. The qualitative phase takes place after theanalysis of the statistical results in order to collect the discourses that cannot find their place in the questionnaire. This phase, based mainly on individual interviews, is used to let participants to talk about their experiences of learning with information and communications technology(ICT) in formal and informal situations

Testo completoNoting that the city of Bejaia is characterized by multilingualism: Kabyle, Arabic and French, It seems interesting to understand how the coexistence of these languages is managed in the urban context. Indeed, our study attempts to determine the status and functions of the languages used by students from the Bejaia urban area. We are looking for an explanation of the operation areas of language use in Bejaia making allowances sociolinguistic representations. The goals we set for ourselves in our research are twofold: in practice, we try to identify the functions performed by each of the languages, as our field research is a crossroads of different languages. In terms of representation, the goal is to know the representations of students studying the values and hierarchies assigned to different languages. Our research also aims to identify the attitudes of high school students of Bejaia against the Algerian language policy in general, and the use of Arabic as a principal language of instruction at the university. To do this, we chose to conduct a survey of students in the city of Bejaia. We collected data not only quantitative but also qualitative, using two different methods. At first, we used questionnaires that informed us about the sociolinguistic profile of students, practices and linguistic representations. In order to complete the questionnaires, we conducted semi-structured interviews with some students. As the questionnaire was based on maintenance practices and linguistic representations of respondents. After analyzing the data, we tried to take stock of research and presented the results and their interpretation

Testo completoThe ICTE (Information and Communication Technologies for Education) and the Educational Innovation in the Higher Education : Why and How Human Interaction Modes Evolve within the Pedagogical Information Systems ? ”Within the framework of the Bologna process and the evolution of the traditional practices towards more flexible ways of teaching, our ongoing research project, proposes to analyse the innovative modes of the use of the ICTE in the educational and learning process just as in the practice communities. For many years, the eLearning concept came in the common educational usage and in the educational institutions. Most of the sources we refered to, generally define it as a “learning supported by the ICT”. These are interesting definitions that link the learning process (considered as the action’s goal) with the technologies (considered most of the time as a means). This closeness in the definition doesn’t mean causality. Until now, all the research on the different forms of technologies that appeared during the last thirty years (from the Teaching Assisted by Computer TAC to interactive cd) have highlighted the importance of the educational system in which technological tools are immersed (Kadiyala & Crynes, 2000). This can explain for a large part of the current researches on the conditions of the efficiency of the information and the communication technologies, (Technology Enhanced Learning) in education (Which methods? Which systems?), and the research of the added values (Which results?). Other researches consider the technologies as a catalyst and an accelerator of the pedagogic innovation in the institutions (Liétart, 2007). In that matter, the context of the Universities of the French Community of Belgium (and/or European) is particularly interesting to investigate : the much diversified current mix of educational forms, the technological uses mainly around certain platforms such as Claroline (for many potential partners), the presence of contrasting educational disciplines, the also diversified teacher’s training, the encouragement for educational innovations, the hybrid devices …constitute at the same time a rich field and interesting variables to investigate for a better comprehension of the conditions and of the quality factors of techno-educational innovation and of the human/machine interaction

Testo completoThe historian, philosopher and anthropologist Michel de Certeau (1925–1986) stands out as a singular figure in the French intellectual landscape. The scope and depth of his work represent a decisive turning-point in the contemporary philosophical ideas. Though he retained the bulk of the teachings relating to historiography and mysticism, he introduced many philosophical and sociological themes to read the traditional and the modern world. Our work consists in examining the main idea according to which practices are customs or operations dependent on a situation. In order to do that, de Certeau uses a full array of notions such as the formality of practices, the strategy and the tactics along with other closely related concepts aiming at explaining social practices and what people do with the order proposed to or imposed on them. The purpose is to study the cautious and clever manner in which people bypass this order’s requirements in their manifold uses of space, time and memory. These rebellious customs are particularly expressed in everyday practices. This leads us to wonder how topical Certeau’s analyses are and how much they can affect today's reflections: what theoritical foundation is he relying on to study nature and the function of these practices? Have his reflections changed our approach to the social, cultural and political issues?

Testo completoLearning Foreign Languages has taken a prominent position in the education field. With globalization, countries, mostly in Europe and America are required to set up educational programs for the development of communicative skills of citizens, to have a place into the global economy. In Colombia, the context in which our study was conducted, the government seeks to reinforce the learning of English FL. To this end, the National Bilingual Program (NBP) established and led the design of objectives that can only be achieved with reflective changes in the professional practice of teachers, the organization of the educational stakeholders and schools. The framework or our research is focused on the stakes of the language policy in relation to professional development of English teachers and the reality of educational contexts. It also looks at the impact of the adoption of the European Framework of Reference for Languages (EFRL) as the basic document of NBP. Our study, is part of an exploratory research, that attempts to describe and understand the implementation process of the NPB and the accession to the CEFR. We proceeded by applying a variety of data collection tools -namely, document analysis, semi-structured/comprehensive interview and questionnaire- with 13 teacher trainers and directors of professional development programs. and 36 English teachers, especially from the regions of Valle del Cauca (west) and Cundinamarca (center). The collected data are analyzed and discussed to provide information on the implementation of the reform, on the views of stakeholders involved, the difficulties encountered and the relation of theoretical objectives and school settings. The outcomes reflect the complexity of implementing a language policy seeking to standardize the process of teaching and learning of foreign languages in a context such as Colombia. This results provide valuable insights on the urgent professional development needs, reflective practices and the empowerment of teachers

Testo completoThis doctoral thesis explores virtual reality as a digital environment for language learning, specifically for French or German as a foreign language. The study examines how immersion and interaction in virtual reality generate a sense of presence in the virtual environment and thus contribute to a contextualization of the learning situation.Approximately one hundred pupils from French and German secondary schools tested three immersive environments of the European project EVEIL-3D. After using a foreign language in an immersive serious game, pupils were surveyed on their virtual reality experience. Results show the importance of subjectivity of the experience. This research additionally investigates speaking in the foreign language, language usage strategies, interactivity, physical engagement and how to support the pupils during immersion. Finally, it points out both the drawbacks and opportunities of using virtual reality as a digital environment for language learning

Testo completoAbstract : The turn of the century brought with it an emergence of information and communications technologies (ICT) and web 2.0 to the Quebec junior college network. In the wake of this technological progress, the presence of ICT changed (transformed) the way students learned about discipline-related content while allowing the teachers to redefine their pedagogical methods that would make courses more interactive. At the outset, the miniaturisation of these tools was a source of emulation for the developers as well as a cause of concern for the tenants of traditional teaching methods. Even today, this duality has led to diverging professional convictions with regards to how we should teach philosophy. The goal of this thesis is to show that in developing a feeling of mutual competency, students and teachers of the Springboard to a DCS pathway must engage in an ethically responsible usage of information and communications technologies. This will improve teaching methods of philosophy, which will lead to renewed discipline-related learning. Over time, the validation of electronic pedagogy (e-pedagogy) will allow students to cultivate a sense of responsibility with regards to their learning and make them more autonomous. In addition to increasing the passing rate, as shown by our data, e-pedagogy permits the teacher to develop a more targeted approach to accompany the particular needs of students in the Springboard to a DCS pathway. Our thesis is broken into four parts and is based on an interdisciplinary approach. The first part deals with the sociology of communication. We will explain how ICT have changed the nature of socialization and the dynamics of user interactions. For some, technological tools allow for a more efficient communication, whereas others feel that these tools encourage a breakdown of human relationships because in prioritizing communication efficiency, we risk harming the quality and longevity of interpersonal relationships. The second part focuses on education and the importance for students and teachers to develop a shared reflective practice with regards to learning and transmitting discipline-related content. Despite the difficulties faced by students in the Springboard to DSC pathway and their instructor, all of the actors must acquire a series of common competencies, without which the use of ICT would be futile. That means that the nature of the pedagogical relationship must be re-evaluated to allow to increased e-pedagogy innovation. The third part deals with ethically responsible usage of ICT in learning situations. Indeed, in using ICT, instructors and students must assure a shared responsibility and consider common values of solidarity and complementarity. These two values are necessary for teachers to be able to adapt academic supervision in order to answer specific student needs. Furthermore, a professional learning community would optimize teacher commitment thereby increasing a student’s efforts in his or her academic success. Finally, we will propose a series of recommendations to improve the teaching of philosophy. The purpose is to bring about a culture of change which, in our opinion, would be beneficial for the entire college network and constructive for the development of e-pedagogical strategies in philosophy.
