Abstract (sommario):
According to Jacques Rancière, the contemporary anti-aesthetic consensus has denounced aesthetics “as the perverse discourse which bars this encounter and which subjects works, or our appreciation thereof, to a machine of thought conceived for other ends: the philosophical absolute, the religion of the poem or the dream of social emancipation” (Rancière, Aesthetics and Its Discontents, 2009: 2). However, what seems to be the most problematic trait of aesthetics is its excessive confusion of “pure thought, sensible affects and artistic practices.”But for both Rancière and Mario Perniola, the excess of aesthetics, that is, its confusion and obliteration of the borders between the arts, between high art and popular art, as well as between art and life – a commixture not to be mistaken for some postmodern transgression of modernist boundaries, for both Rancière and Perniola keep critical distance to the notions of modernism and postmodernism – constitutes the very knot “by which thoughts, practices and affects are instituted and assigned a territory or a ‘specific’ object” (Rancière, Aesthetics and Its Discontents, 2009: 4).This paper will demonstrate that aesthetics in Rancière and Perniola represents neither simply a general art theory nor a theory defining art by means of its effects on the senses, but rather a specific order of the identification and thinking of art. Moreover, it will argue that Rancière’s and Perniola’s respective elaborations of the relationship between aesthetics and art occur in the larger context of a primary aesthetics associated with the topographical analysis of the means in which the sensible, common world is constructed, parceled out and contested. It will also be shown that primary aesthetics, for both Rancière and Perniola, includes non-artistic realms and practices such as politics, culture, education, science, and economy in that all these realms and practices presuppose the sensible configuration of a specific world. Thus, primary aesthetics is ultimately to be grasped as distribution of the sensible (Rancière) or as sensology (Perniola) that determines not only that which is given in a common manner, but also – and more specifically – that which can be seen, felt, said or done and at the same time modes of seeing, feeling, saying or doing that are excluded from that which is given in a common manner. Abstract (sommario):
This paper explores the concept of “inorganic sexuality” in the work of Italian writer and philosopher Mario Perniola. The main objective is to develop the controversial and original aspects of Perniola’s thought within his aesthetic theory of feeling. Perniola elaborates the so-called “thing that feels”, namely a feeling in which the neutral and impersonal dimensions of the things flow into organic life and vice versa. This perspective, as will be clarified, by dissolving the vitalist and spiritualist drives of the subject, enlarges the horizon of aesthetic feeling by welcoming what is commonly left outside of it: the inorganic and material world, in its surprising aspects, but also in its uncanny and disturbing ones. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to show the significance and the value of neutral sexuality, which opens up a space of experiences beyond the traditional metaphysical oppositions such as masculine/feminine, organic/inorganic, alive/dead, real/virtual, gender/sex. Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
This article examines the antecedents and background of the antithesis between art and beauty. It also considers if this confrontation, typical in modern aesthetics, provides necessary conceptual categories to comprehend the situation of art in the communication era, characteristic of a generalised aesthetisation. Departing from the ideas posed by Yves Michaud, Mateu Cabot, Didi-Huberman and Mario Perniola, the author dismantles the false opposition between art and beauty; she proposes a strategy to avoid an antithetical position and exhorts the readers to recover a different experience from beauty.

Abstract (sommario):
Mario Perniola finds more than one cause in common with Deleuze, establishing a link between some aspects of Deleuze's theories and his own education, oriental philosophy, the situationists, but mostly Surrealism and Stoicism, two philosophical attitudes sharing the awareness that the threshold between actuality and virtuality is shifting and in constant transformation. The core element of the essay is notably the notion of becoming, to be taken strictly in relation to the notions of assemblage and plane of consistency. Together they account for one and the same moment, a disposition of elements, which is not stable but in constant movement.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper will trace some tracks of a growing scepticism towards the still dominant paradigm of meaning and poiesis in humanities and social sciences. It starts with the largely forgotten study On the Sociology of Catholic Ideas of 1927, in which early on Gustav Gundlach expresses his dissatisfaction with concepts of action that overemphasize rationality and intellectuality and anticipates some current critique of sociological theories of action. As Gundlach is not the only author who is criticizing a volitive and actionistic understanding of action and is thereby referring to the catholic, this paper is asking for possible confessional preconditions of certain theories of action, in which a shift was made from intellectuality, reflexivity, and intentionality to practice, rituality, and corporeality. The works of Bruno Latour, Michel de Certeau, Victor Turner, and Mario Perniola will serve as examples.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract The paper analyses the re-conceptualization of the intermedial trope of the tableau vivant in recent East European cinema through several examples from Hungarian and Russian films directed by György Pálfi, Kornél Mundruczó, Benedek Fliegauf, Béla Tarr, and Andrei Zvyagintsev. The tableau vivant in these films is not conceived primarily as an embodiment of a painting, the introduction of “the real into the image” (as Brigitte Peucker described), instead it appears more like the objectification of bodies as images, and something that we can associate with what Mario Perniola considers the “sex appeal of the inorganic” or “the Egyptian moment in art.” As such, the tableau becomes a powerful agent in generating metanarratives, offering a blueprint for a “big picture,” a comprehensive vision of the world (reinforced by recurring mythological themes like the genesis or the end of the world, the loss of Paradise, etc.). We may connect this feature of these tableaux vivants, therefore, to what Lyotard termed as the “figure of return,” and to the reconstructive tendencies of contemporary post-postmodern art.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Background:Sjogren Syndrome (SS) is an autoimmune exocrinopathy, resulting mainly in ocular and oral dryness, with approximately half of patients displaying symptoms from different organ systems, further adding to the heterogeneous clinical phenotype of the disease. Fatigue and pain are common systemic symptoms in patients with primary SS and fibromyalgia is a frequent condition associated with chronic diseases. Objectives:The aim of the study was to evaluate the impact of concomitant fibromyalgia in patients with Sjogren Syndrome in terms of clinical features and disease activity.Methods:50 patients with Sjogren Syndrome were enrolled in the study (100% female, age: 53.7 ± 13.2 years and disease duration: 8.7 ± 5.3 years), 25(50.0%) with concomitant fibromyalgia (SS/Fibro-group) and 25(50.0%) without (SS-group). 36 patients with primary fibromyalgia (Fibro-group) were included as control group. At study entry, demographic, educational, life-style and clinical parameters were recorded for each patient. SS was diagnosed according to the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria (1) and fibromyalgia was diagnosed according to criteria for fibromyalgia defined by ACR (2). Moreover, each patient with fibromyalgia, with and without concomitant SS, was asked to fill a self-reported questionnaire to assess the impact of Fibromyalgia on multiple physical and psycological domains (Italian-FIQR).Results:Stratifying the study cohorts based on the demographic and life-style characteristics, no significant differences were found comparing SS-group, Fibro-group and SS/Fibro-group. However, considering the different organ involvement, SS/Fibro-group were more likely reporting arthralgia symptoms (100.0%) than SS-group (76.0% p=0.02), despite similar clinical evidence of arthritis-synovitis among the two groups (12.0% in both groups respectively, p=1.00). Moreover, SS/Fibro-group showed significantly lower ESSDAI score (2.8 ± 1.7) and higher ESSPRI score (7.0 ± 0.9) compared to SS-group (ESSDAI: 7.5 ± 3.7 p<0.001 and ESSPRI: 5.2 ± 1.4, p<0.001 respectively). Finally, analyzing the differential distribution of individual scores of physical and psycological domains of the Italian-FIQR Questionnaire, SS/Fibro-group did not differ compared to Fibro-group (p>0.05 for all the 21 questions included). Conclusion:SS is affected by concomitant fibromyalgia in terms of subjective-dependent parameters (i.e. joint complaints) however the concomitant SS does not affect the impact of fibromyalgia on physical and psycological domains, even if disease activity is higher in SS patients without fibromyalgia.References:[1]Shiboski SC et al. Abstract (sommario):
BackgroundSpondyloarthritis (SpA) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) share some common pathogenetic pathways and a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations, laboratory and imaging features. How intestinal involvement affects SpA clinical and biological aspects remains unexplored and can be help in the SpA and IBD management.ObjectivesTo define immunological and synovial and bowel tissues characteristics in SpA associated or not with IBD.MethodsForty-one SpA patients (22 SpA+IBD+ and 19 SpA+IBD-) and 50 IBD patients (control group, SpA-IBD+) were enrolled. Both category presented patients at beginning of a new biologic treatment. Upon enrolled, demographic, clinical and ultrasound features were collected for each patient. Peripheral venous blood and faecal samples were collected for each patients to determine IL-17A, TNF-alpha and sTREM1 plasmatic level and intestinal microbiota respectively. Moreover, patients with SpA underwent to the biopsy of the synovial membrane in order to assess the degree of inflammation, according to the Krenn Score (KSS).ResultsConsidering intestinal involvement, SpA+IBD- showed a tendency of more severe synovitis grade compared to SpA+IBD+ (KSS: 3.00 (1.25-4.75) vs 1.50 (1.00-3.00) respectively, p: 0.059) and, considering SpA whole cohort, KSS directly correlated with inflammatory status assessed by CRP level (R: 0.540, p: 0.001). Considering the SpA and IBD whole cohort, articular and intestinal involvement affect cytokines levels independently from treatment: sTREM1 level was higher in SpA than in IBD (413 (247-563) vs 290 (220-344) pg/ml respectively, p: 0.003) and IL-17A level in SpA+IBD- vs SpA-IBD+ (0.49 (0.25-0.97) vs 1.00 (0.50-2.05) pg/ml respectively, p: 0.041), with direct correlation between sTREM1 and the clinical and synovial tissue aspects. Finally, regardless of intestinal involvement, SpA presented peculiar species richness and overall faecal microbiome composition compared to SpA-IBD+ with a significant difference between alpha and beta difference between these groups (p: 0.003 and p: 0.001 respectively).ConclusionSpA associated with the intestinal involvement present specific cytokines profile, synovial tissue features and faecal microbiome composition compared to SpA without IBD. Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Background:Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is characterized by synovial tissue (ST) heterogeneity at disease onset in terms of inflammatory degree and microanatomical organization being related to treatment response. Objectives:To develop a multiparametric tool for baseline treatment response prediction including disease characteristics and histopathologic features of ST biopsies, using a large single center (SYNGem Unit) naive to treatment RA cohort.Methods:240 naive to treatment RA who underwent US-guided ST biopsy, at the first clinical evaluation, were enrolled. Clinical and immunological characteristics were recorded for each patient. All ST FFPE specimens were stained with H&E and classified by a pathologist, blinded to clinical characteristics, using the Krenn score [1] to assess the degree of ST inflammation. All naive to treatment RA were treated according to the T2T scheme and DAS remission rate at 6-12 months was recorded. On the basis of the regression analysis, a nomogram was constructed that incorporated the significant factors predicting the “achievement of DAS-Remission at 6 months follow-up” in naive RA. The performance of the nomogram was assessed by discrimination and calibration. Results:Univariate analysis showed that RA who achieved early (6 months) DAS-remission had, at baseline, significantly lower total Krenn score (p<0.001), shorter symptoms duration (p=0.005) and lower disease activity (p<0.001) than RA not achieving this clinical outcome. ROC curve analysis revealed that RA having, at baseline, a total Krenn score <4.5 [(AUC)95%C.I.: 0.67(0.60-0.74),p<0.001] achieved more likely DAS-remission at 6 months (53.1%) than RA with total Krenn score ≥4.5(28.9%,p<0.001). Interestingly, RA whose ST was biopsied within 3 months from joint symptoms beginning showed significantly lower ST inflammation as total Krenn score than RA whose ST was analyzed among 3-12 months (p=0.04) or after 12 months (p=0.002) since symptoms beginning. However, in terms of follicular structure presence, the microanatomical organization of the synovial inflammatory infiltrate did not differ comparing RA whose ST was biopsied within 3 months from joint symptoms beginning (44.4%) and RA whose ST was biopsied among 3-12 months (47.6%, p=0.74) or after 12 months (52.7%,p=0.33) since symptoms beginning.Logistic regression analysis revealed that, at baseline, being VERA, not having HDA and having a total Krenn score <4.5 were synergistic factors of DAS-remission achievement at 6 months [OR:10.5(95%IC:2.28-48.01);p<0.05]. Based on the regression analysis, a nomogram integrating baseline clinical (disease activity and duration) and histological (total Krenn score) characteristics was developed in which the value of each of the variables was given a point score. A total score was calculated by adding each single point score and, by projecting the value of the “total points” score to the “probability” line up to 87.5%.Conclusion:Krenn score is a reliable tool for the semi-quantitative assessment of ST inflammation on US-guided ST biopsies being contingent to baseline disease characteristics and can be integrated within a nomogram to better predict the therapeutic response in naive to treatment RA.References:[1] Krenn V, et al. Abstract (sommario):
Background:The regulation of inflammation is a dynamic process involving several molecules as lipid mediators. The Specialized Pro-resolving Mediators (SPMs), such as Resolvin (RvD and RvE), Protectins, Maresins and Lipoxin A4 (LXA4), are bioactive metabolites of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which drive inflammatory resolution phase and promote tissue repair. ERV, ALX/FPR2 and BLT1 are SPM receptors. Although in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) lipid mediators role within pathophysiology is under definition, studies on SPMs receptors role are still lacking in this disease. Objectives:Purpose of this study is to define ERV, ALX/FPR2 and BLT1 expression in blood derived leukocytes and synovial cells and to correlate it to disease activity to define SPM receptors ad inflammatory resolution biomarkers in RA patients. Methods:A cohort of 52 RA patients was enrolled in the study of which 40 with active disease (DAS28= 5,35 (5,18-6,40)) and 12 in sustained remission status (DAS28= 2,1 (1,83-2,42)). Each enrolled patient underwent peripheral blood (PB) drawing and 46 of them underwent US-guided synovial tissue (ST) biopsy. FACS gating strategy was used for PB and ST processing to evaluate percentage of positive cells and the mean fluorescence intensity (MFI) of ERV+, ALX/FPR2+and BLT1+in CD45+CD3+, CD45+CD19+for PB and ST, CD45+CD14+and neutrophils for PB only and CD45-CD90+, CD45+CD64+CD11b+macrophages (distinct in CD206+and CD206-subpopulations) for ST only. Each included ST was stained with haematoxylin/eosin and categorized by a pathologist, blinded to clinical characteristics, using the Krenn Score (KS) to assess ST inflammation degree. As control group, 11 undifferentiated peripheral inflammatory arthritis (UPIA) patients were enrolled in the study. Results:Considering the whole RA cohort, DAS28 inversely correlated with BLT1+positive cells on ST-derived CD45+(r= -0.48; p= 0.048), CD3+(r= -0.56; p= 0.019) and CD19+(r= -0.49; p= 0.042) cells, in contrast with CD90+(r= 0.50; p= 0.041) cells. Similarly, both DAS28 and KS inversely correlated with ALX/FPR2+positive cells in ST-derived CD45+(r= -0.42, p= 0.050 and r= -0,41, p= 0,046 respectively) cells. Evaluating the MFI levels of the SPM receptors along all RA stages (naïve-to-treatment, resistant-to-treatment, sustained remission) compared with UPIA control group, interestingly ST-derived CD45+cells of remission RA were depleted of ERV1 compared to naïve-to-treatment RA (p=0.04), despite comparable ST inflammation. Furthermore, highest ERV1 expression was found in ST-derived CD45+CD3+and CD45+CD19+cells in naïve-to-treatment RA compared with UPIA patients (p= 0,045 and p= 0,012 respectively). Moreover, the lowest BLT1 level was found in remission RA CD3+cells compared with UPIA and naïve-to-treatment RA patients (p= 0,008 and p= 0,023 respectively). Conclusion:SPM receptors expression seem to be tightly related to disease activity in the synovial tissue, suggesting an important involvement in the inflammatory process in RA patient.References:[1]Serhan CN. Abstract (sommario):
BackgroundRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic disease characterized by a high degree of disability and pain. Remission is the optimal goal but, even when it is reached, the pain can persist as “residual pain”.ObjectivesThe aims of the study were (i) to characterize the size and perception of residual pain and (ii) to evaluate the possible impact of residual synovitis on pain perception in remission RA patients.MethodsOne hundred twenty-seven RA patients (defined by 2010 ACR/EULAR criteria), of which 68 in clinical and ultrasound remission (REM-RA) and 29 in high disease activity (HDA-RA) defined by DAS28-CRP were enrolled in the study. Thirty fibromyalgia patients (2016 ACR criteria) were enrolled as a control group (FIBRO). Upon enrolled, demographic, clinical and ultrasound features were collected for each patient and an assessment of pain symptom was performed for each patient according to the RAID, FACIT, GHQ and VAS-pain questionnaires. Patients with RA underwent minimally invasive ultrasound-guided biopsy of the synovial membrane of the knee in order to assess the degree of synovitis, according to the Krenn Score (KSS).ResultsConsidering the RA group, the synovitis degree is directly correlated with the life quality and disability, as demonstrated by the inverse correlation between FACIT and DAS28-CRP (R2=-0.506, p<0.0001). Furthermore, considering the pain mental aspects, the total GHQ score (R2=0.407; p<0.0001) and the VAS-pain scale (R2=0.402, p<0.0001) are instead directly correlated to the DAS28-CRP in RA patients. Since GHQ value ≥24 identifies a subject requiring psychiatric attention, a higher score was found in 26% of REM-RA patients compared to 52% (p=0.004) and 77% (p<0.0001) in the HDA-RA and FIBRO groups respectively while, considering the VAS-pain, the REM-RA patients had lower values (20) compared to HDA-RA (50; p<0.0333) and FIBRO (70; p<0.0001), suggesting how the underlying pathology could affect psychological well-being and pain perception. Further confirmation was obtained with the RAID questionnaire: REM-RA patients presented lower scores (3.34) than HDA-RA (5.56; p = 0.0003) and FIBRO patients (7.63; p <0.0001). Finally, considering the synovitis degree, the presence of subclinical synovitis (KSS≥2) in REM-RA patients (50%) was not associated with a higher pain score, assessed by VAS-pain, suggesting the possible non-inflammatory nature of residual pain.ConclusionRemission status in RA is associated with a better psycho-physical state than in HDA patients but, despite that, there is the persistence of a certain degree of residual pain, regardless of the subclinical synovitis degree. It emerges that the features of pain in patients in remission is different from other conditions (high disease activity or fibromyalgia), suggesting different underlying biological mechanisms.REFERENCES:NIL.Acknowledgements:NIL.Disclosure of InterestsSimone Perniola Speakers bureau: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, GALAPAGOS BIOPHARMA, PFIZER, NOVARTIS, Consultant of: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, GALAPAGOS BIOPHARMA, Luca Petricca: None declared, Marco Gessi: None declared, Maria Rita Gigante: None declared, Martina Calabretta: None declared, Dario Bruno: None declared, Annunziata Capacci: None declared, Clara Di Mario: None declared, Barbara Tolusso: None declared, Stefano Alivernini Speakers bureau: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, PFIZER, NOVARTIS, Consultant of: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, PFIZER, NOVARTIS, Grant/research support from: PFIZER, Elisa Gremese Speakers bureau: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, GALAPAGOS BIOPHARMA, PFIZER, NOVARTIS, Consultant of: ABBVIE, ELI LILLY ITALIA, PFIZER, NOVARTIS, Grant/research support from: ABBVIE, PFIZER, NOVARTIS.

Abstract (sommario):
O pernil forneceu a carne menos macia (FC=2,98kgf).

Abstract (sommario):
This study aimed to identify the pollen grains found in honeys of Melipona (Michmelia) seminigra pernigra Moure & Kerr and Melipona (Melikerria) interrupta Latreille in two communities of the Tapajós-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve, Lower Amazon (Pará, Brazil) between December 2016 and November 2017. Twenty-four samples of honey were processed, 12 samples from M. seminigra pernigra collected in the Suruacá community and 12 samples from M. interrupta in the Vila Franca community. After acetolysis, 103 pollen types were identified, distributed across 22 families, plus eight indeterminate types. Fifty-nine types were exclusive to M. seminigra pernigra, 29 types were exclusive to M. interrupta and 15 pollen types were shared between both species. Anacardiaceae, Burseraceae, Melastomataceae, and Myrtaceae were the most attractive pollen families, providing key resources for maintenance of these bee populations. The sharing of pollen types between both bee species revealed a high similarity in preference for certain resources. M. seminigra showed greater diversity (H’ = 1.928) than M. interrupta (H’ = 1.292). Furthermore, the diversity (H’) and equitability (J’) indexes showed a more homogeneous pattern in the pollen spectrum of honeys from M. seminigra in most months studied. These data suggest that meliponiculturists should consider the diversity of plant species found in the two communities and keep them close to the meliponary, which will favor honey management and production, as well as the local biodiversity.
