Abstract (sommario):
This article addresses two questions: “When did the King James Bible gain a foothold of popularity among the English people?” and “How did the Geneva Bible lose its popularity to the King James Bible?” By reviewing the post-1611 printing of these two versions of the Bible and examining the texts of the Paul’s Cross sermons and the parliamentary sermons between 1612 and 1643, I find that the King James Bible was already more popular than the Geneva Bible by 1620, and that the rising trend of the popularity of the King James Bible had become irreversible by 1630. By 1640, the battle of the two Bibles was long over. I also refute the assumption that the political authorities’ suppression of the Geneva Bible caused its defeat. Rather, I argue that the decrease in consumer demand for exegetical notes led to the demise of the Geneva Bible.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractCanaan Banana is an African liberation theologian who was prominently involved in Zimbabwe's liberation struggle. He has written an article 'The Case for a New Bible' in which he argues that the Christian Bible should be rewritten so that it can be relevant for people in postcolonial societies. Banana is concerned that there are oppressive texts in the Bible that continue to be used by people to legitimise the oppression of others. He argues that these texts should be removed. Banana is also concerned that the Bible contains revelation which relates to only one people and that religious experiences of other peoples ought to be added to the Bible. Banana has raised important concerns about the Bible which must be addressed by scholars if the Bible is to be relevant in an appropriate way for postcolonial times. Banana boldly makes a proposal to rewrite the Bible to make it relevant and authoritative. Banana has highlighted some important problems that need new and creative solutions. The present article will discuss the problems related to the Bible as seen by Banana, discuss the solutions which Banana proposes for the problems and then critique his proposals. Insights from biblical studies related to hermeneutics, biblical theology and canon formation will be used to propose other solutions to these problems.

Abstract (sommario):
Protestants have long been known not only for the special authority they have accorded the Bible but also for the encouragement they have given to laity to read the Bible and make sense of it for themselves. But for much of their history they have assumed this would be done in the context of worshipping communities, where believers could interpret the Bible together, guided by the results of these communities' ongoing deliberations as codified in creeds, confessions and catechisms. In recent times, however, this has been breaking down because of the rise of increasingly radical forms of individualism. The resulting turn away from creedal religion is celebrated by some as an advance, but it is not without problems. This article identifies some of those problems, and briefly considers how they might be addressed.

Abstract (sommario):
The sacred writings of three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) are contained in the Hebrew Bible (referred to by Christians as the Old Testament), the Christian Bible (New Testament), and the Qur'an (Koran). These writings encompass events occurring over a period of more than two millennia and taken together represent a broad picture of mideastern peoples, describing their interactions with the sweep of events of that era. The writings include the sacred and profane, prose and poetry, history and myth, legend and fable, love songs and proverbs, parables and revelations. The basic agricultural roots of desert people are infused in the texts. Plants, plant products, and agricultural technology are referred to in hundreds of verses. References to fruits are abundant so that these bibles can be read almost as a pomological text in addition to the religious and sacred meanings that still inspire billions of people.

Abstract (sommario):
The article focuses on approaches to Bible translation that existed in Sweden in different periods. Special attention is payed to what is to date the latest translation in 2000 (Bible 2000). On the eve of celebration of the 500th anniversary of the first translation of the Gospels (1526) this topic is particularly relevant and discussed more and more actively in works by Swedish researchers, first and foremost because a new edition of the next Bible translation is planned in 2026. This tradition goes back to 1540-1541 when translation of the full Bible was printed, known as the Gustav Vasa Bible (Gustav Vasas Bibel), which has made an impact on the hearts and minds of Swedish people for almost four centuries and formed the basis of Standard Swedish. The approach declared by Luther has become a fundamental principle of Bible translations into Swedish: text must convey precisely the message, spirit and content of the original, not literally, however, but in the language that is clear to uneducated people. The Gustav Vasa Bible was reissued twice: in 1618 (the Gustav II Adolf Bible) and 1703 (the Charles XII Bible). Whats more, every new edition was redacted officially. In 1773 Gustav III established the Biblical Commission and requested to replace the outdated text with a new one. However, there were numerous changes in the Swedish Language during the XXth century. Besides, the development of linguistics and translation studies, as well as new scientific data have formed the basis of a new Bible translation project that was launched in 1972 and ended up with publishing the Bible-2000. The translation is the result of collaboration between numerous scholars and average readers. It took almost thirty years to perform the work. In the end, a text was created which most people think is unique, as it strives to convey the style of each particular book. However, there is obviously a gap between the new text and the centuries-old tradition of Bible translation, because after textual analysis was complete, scholars and translators often took decisions about how to render separate words and whole phrases. Their decisions had nothing in common with established practice. Consequently, critics consider that the text of Bible-2000 is often greatly oversimplified, everyday, lacking its solemn beauty and magnificence.

Abstract (sommario):
This essay addresses several unresolved problems associated with the production, dissemination and reception of the King James Bible. It argues that James i’s initial enthusiasm was not sustained and that Archbishop Bancroft was the key figure for seeing the translation through to completion. His death, just before the Bible appeared, explains why there was no order for its purchase by parishes. Instead, its acquisition was left to individual bishops, so that it took until the Civil War for the new Bible to be widely available in worship. Its broad acceptability by that time was a result of its increasing use in household and private devotions as much as in public worship.

Abstract (sommario):
In 1921, William Norton of the Moody Bible Institute of Chicago pushed, pulled, and dragged his Model T along the back roads of the southern Appalachians. He visited churches, schools, and private homes, talking with anyone and everyone he could find. His question was always the same: “Do you have enough Bibles?” The answers he received shocked him. As far as Norton could tell, many of the “mountaineers” were nominally Christian, but they had often never seen a Bible, much less read one of their own. As the head of the Moody Bible Institute's Bible Institute Colportage Association, he immediately put together a plan. “To reach these people quickly,” he wrote in his report, “I am convinced that it can be done most efficiently … through the public schools.… A great majority of the teachers are ready to cooperate.”

Abstract (sommario):
This thesis examines the impact of the English Bible upon the people and parishes of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex between 1525 and 1560. It examines two major themes of this impact: firstly, the level of success of the installation of the Great Bible in the parish churches; secondly, the effects of the publication and open reading of the scriptures in the vernacular upon the laity of East Anglia. The first theme explains the reasons for the order to install English scripture in the churches, and the information on the success of this installation provided by prosecution records and churchwardens' accounts. It then introduces an obscure document set, the church-plate certificates produced during the reign of Edward VI, and using these examines the level of installation of the Bible and of the religious injunctions of 1547. The results of the study of the church-plate certificates and churchwardens' accounts are compared with a number of factors, including parish wealth, proximity to towns and agricultural patterns, to determine which types of parishes were more likely to comply. The second theme examines the various responses of laypersons to the appearance of the English Bible in East Anglia. Although much of this section has been derived from records of prosecution, it also studies the effects of the English Bible on diverse events such as Kett's Rebellion of 1549, popular printing in Ipswich and the production of educational primers. This section also looks at the level of scriptural knowledge of laypersons ranging from that of Robert Reynys, a churchreeve of Acle, of the 1430's, to that of the prosecuted Marian Protestants during the 1550's.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This chapter compares the habits and hermeneutics of Bible readers when they shift from printed Bibles to Bible apps. It draws on quantitative research in several churches that tested participants’ comprehension rates, daily reading behaviors, and understanding of the meaning and significance of a text. These data indicate that readers have a complex relationship with their phones, and that the place of the phone in modern life affects when and how religious people engage with the Bible and the version of God they encounter when they read. The demographics of the readers also appear to be a significant factor in the way they adapt to technology and apply it to their faith.

Abstract This chapter offers a summary of the book and its argument, showing how the Hopeful Entrepreneurial Pragmatism model of evangelical technological engagement works both in the production and in the consumption sides of Bible software development. Though evangelicals are aware of risks with technology, a class of them tends to hopefully embrace new media for its missional potential. They also display remarkable entrepreneurial savvy, moving fluidly between spiritual and business matters, and making pragmatic decisions based on what works. The chapter also summarizes how reading the Bible on screen affects average readers including the Nearest Available Bible phenomenon, where readers understand the unique value system of each medium, but tend to read whatever is most convenient or nearby, as well as interpretive differences that may be derived from behaviors we associate with screens vs. the printed page. Finally, this chapter offers some recommendations to fellow developers on the future of digital Bibles.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This chapter analyzes the people who use Bible software, looking at how they think about the Bible and which Bible apps are influencing their religious behavior. The Bible can be understood as religious content, but “the Bible” can also function as conceptual category and powerful cultural and relational symbol. This chapter draws on focus groups conduced at several churches to explore how that symbolic meaning changes when the Bible migrates from a printed book to an app. It also explores how users choose between the print and digital forms of the Bible. The interviewees portray modern Bible reading as a multimedia experience, one where they use a combination of print, screen, and even audio, shifting between them sometimes based on distinct goals and other times on what is convenient, comfortable, or socially acceptable.

Abstract (sommario):
In the ten bas-relief panels of the Gates of Paradise of the Florence Baptistery, Lorenzo Ghiberti depicted episodes from the Old Testament, narrated through a succession of scenes, in which the figurative language also fulfils a catechetical function. The master set the Istorie (Stories) of the main characters of the Bible against a background of landscapes depicting territories and architecture known to him, and sculpting in great detail the flora, fauna and human structures. With regard to the latter, in the fifth, sixth and tenth panels, the scenery consists of monumental architecture inspired by the Classical and Renaissance style, while in the second, third, fourth, seventh and eighth panels Ghiberti depicts dwellings and shelters linked to the local tradition. In a single artefact, the goldsmith-sculptor master offers an overview of the heterogeneous built landscape, providing a faithful description of a whole series of vernacular constructions which, due to their importance and diffusion in the area, are also frequently found in other contemporary artistic works. From this point of view, the panels can be considered an unprecedented source to allow the analysis of the salient features of those widespread traditional architectures in the early 15th century, which still characterise the rural landscape surrounding Florence.

These names were used most by the Hebrew writers in modern times in their songs and stories that written in honor of this day, and Hebrew poets wrote poetry on Saturday: Bialik wrote the song "Saturday queen", poet Amir Gilboa wrote the song "Cch Cmo Sani the up" and others. Abstract (sommario):
Faith in God also enables individuals to make sense of their lives in the midst of chaos and to find meaning and purpose in lifes challenges, a sense of peace and security, especially during difficult times, It can provide hope for a brighter future and a sense of assurance that no matter what life throws our way, God is always with us, knowing that God will never leave them and that He has a plan for their lives. The debate on creation versus evolution is an ongoing, heated debate that has been going on for many years. The debate is between those who believe that God created the universe and those who believe that evolution is the process by which the universe was created. Creationists believe that the Bible is literal and that God created the world in six days. Evolutionists believe that the universe developed over billions of years through natural processes. The debate is ongoing because there is no clear answer to the question of how the universe was created. The evidence for both sides is inconclusive, with no one side able to definitively prove their point of view. The issue of faith and unbelief in God in 21st century society is a complex one. It is important to remember that everyone has the right to make their own decisions when it comes to their beliefs and that there is no one right answer, the important thing is to respect the beliefs of others, no matter what they may be. Alternative sources of spiritual guidance, such as meditation, mindfulness and yoga can take the place of a higher, omniscient and omnipresent Being to whom are attributed all the positive traits that he imprints on people in the form of moral and ethical values, without denying the positive aspects that they have on the human mind and on physical well-being? Therewith, the internet has provided access to a variety of religious perspectives, so more people are exposed to different beliefs and the idea of religious diversity. There is also a growing sense of skepticism about faith among many people. With the rise of science and the prevalence of fake news, people are increasingly questioning the validity of religious claims. In the last 10 years, with the emergence of several types of manifestations, several surveys have been conducted in many countries of the world regarding belief in God, the weight of religion in everyday life and people's attitude toward faith. The results were surprising because it could be observed that more and more people perceive the relation to faith and to the Divinity in a completely different way than in the previous centuries. Given the above, it is necessary to try to find answers to some questions that may give us a better understanding of the human-Divinity relationship in the society of the 21st century. Does today's society still believe in God and the moral laws promoted by the church? When and why did people begin to give up belief in God? Why is there a growing sense of skepticism about faith? Are people now more likely to question the traditional beliefs? Do people belive in God in 21st century society or this is the century of unbelif and theism? 21st century society - a society of faith in God, a society of unbelif or a society of atheism? Faith in God remains a powerful force in the world today?

Abstract (sommario):
“A technique for producing ideas” (James Webb Young,1940) has been a bible for advertising people since its publication. It says, “An idea is nothing more nor less than a new combination of old elements.''(P.15) It also says, “ An idea is a new combinations”.(P.20). But it never mentions how you can combine ideas with an excuse: “This part of the process is harder to describe in concrete terms because it goes on entirely inside your head.”(P.20) Another well known technique for idea producing is the “KJ method”(Jiro Kawakita,"Abduction”1967). It is an approach to find ideas by organizing ideas and it doesn't explain how you can produce ideas by combining elements. Now we are in an era where creation is the important drive force of economic activities in our society and creation is producing ideas. But still the process of producing ideas is in the veil. I am a film director, educator, as well as management consultant. Many of my students and clients need to find an idea with an objective such as career goal, new business idea, project idea. When I help them, I often deploy techniques I use for developing movie projects. I realized I always go through the same path with them. So I developed the “SA method” based on the path I always go through with my students or clients. I am now developing a software application based on the method.Combining two ideas is not so difficult but combining three ideas is extremely difficult. “SA method” helps people to produce ideas by combining three elements. “SA method” assumes an idea with three elements must be a “synthesis” produced by an aufheben in dialectic development with two elements. And each of three elements must be a synthesis produced in dialectic development with the rest respectively. When an idea is produced with three elements, the dialectic is revolved with the same three elements so that the idea is kneaded. “SA method” also has a process of quantifying it and describing it, which not only helps to ferment ideas in mind but also helps to select ideas at each proper timing. This selection also helps to separate the idea generation stage and the idea selection stage. According to my observation, people, who are not good at producing ideas, don’t know the importance of the separation. The SA method is a unique combination of practical and original use of dialectic development and Analytical Hierarchy processing.I conducted pilot tests with 35 undergraduate students at Utsunomiya University and 6 undergraduate students at Chuo University in November of 2021 to find their career goal using the SA method. During the trial, some people had difficulties producing 25 ideas. There may be some reasons such as not being accustomed to generating ideas and “SA method”, and 25 was an unnecessarily large number. Also they didn’t have enough time to search for information about their career development. We are now considering how to refine the methodology. Also, we have started to develop a Web based tool or PC application to work with the “SA method” visually. I would like to conduct further research projects such as comparing “SA method” with “KJ method” while refining the method.

Abstract (sommario):
There are estimated to be around 900 million older adults (aged 60 years and above), around 13 per cent of the world population. The COVID-19 pandemic helped shed light on the specific needs of older people as a group more susceptible to severe disease/infection, and revealed the lack of capacity within water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) NGOs to respond to these specific needs. This SLH Learning Paper explores the WASH needs of older people in both development and humanitarian contexts, as well as the fundamental role older people play in facilitating other people’s WASH access, health, and wellbeing. The paper refers to the data WASH actors collect on older people in order to understand their differing WASH needs, the barriers to accessing WASH, and the need to ensure older people’s participation, including their active role in helping find the solutions. Recommendations are made for planning with communities and programme design; WASH programme implementation and to reduce environmental barriers.
