Abstract (sommario):
Abstract (sommario):
Some recent progresses in our understanding of penta-quark components in baryons is briefly reviewed. The diquark cluster picture for the penta-quark components in baryons gives a natural explanation not only to the empirical indications for a positive strangeness magnetic moment μs and positive strangeness radius of the proton but also the longstanding mass-reverse problem of N*(1535), N*(1440) and Λ*(1405) resonances as well as the unusual decay pattern of the N*(1535) resonance. Evidence supporting this picture from available BES data on J/ψ decays is pointed out.

Abstract (sommario):
The 2020 Vice-Presidential debate afforded the opportunity to examine online reactions toward a woman of color, Kamala Harris, and a white man, Mike Pence, as they vied for the same position. We collected tweets from the Twitter API related to Harris and Pence, mainly using neutral hashtags. We examined keywords for gender and race slurs and conducted a multivariate analysis of tweet sentiment. Gender and racial slurs surface in both Harris and Pence datasets, showcasing the insidious nature of sexist and racist stereotypes that seep into online conversations regarding a high-status job debate. As anticipated, tweets regarding Harris contained a higher proportion of racist and sexist curse words, highlighting greater levels of harassment and “intersectional,” multi-ethnic/gender attacks. Racial insults targeting Blacks or Asians were more negative than those associated with Whites. Unexpectedly, tweets related to Harris were more positive in average sentiment than those regarding Pence. Yet, there were significantly more retweets, and more negativity of retweets, relating to Harris than to Pence, underscoring the relatively widespread broadcasting of derogatory messages about Harris. Overall, we found that harassing messages toward the candidates reinforced traditional race and gender stereotypes and bolstered the status of those who posted negative content by attaining more retweets. Harassers routinely invoked well-worn, stereotypical insults in their attacks, especially when targeting a multiracial woman.

Abstract (sommario):
In a prospective study of 72 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) positive patients presenting with fever and breathlessness, a non-invasive management protocol, incorporating a scanning technique using radioactively labelled diethylenetriamine penta acetate (DTPA) and sputum induction, was found to be highly sensitive and specific in the early detection of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). At presentation, the DTPA scan was abnormal in 34 of 36 cases of PCP, irrespective of smoking history, whilst the chest radiograph was diffusely abnormal in 21 cases. Sputum induction identified 7 of 14 patients with PCP in the first six months of its use and 7 of 10 patients over the last six months. The DTPA lung scan and induced sputum examination are non-invasive techniques which can be used to investigate out-patients. In combination they detected all cases of PCP at presentation, reduced the need for bronchoscopy, resulted in a low case fatality (5.4%) and reduced the need for admission.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractAbsorption spectra of uranium species dissolved in molten lithium molybdate–sodium molybdate eutectic of 0.51Li2MoO4–0.49Na2MoO4 mixture at 550 ºC were measured by UV/Vis/NIR spectrophotometry, and their redox reactions were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. We found that the major ions of uranium species dissolved in the melt were uranyl penta-valent. After purging dry oxygen gas into the melt, penta-valent species were oxidized to the uranyl hexa-valent. In the cyclic voltammetry of the melt without uranium species, it was confirmed that the lithium-sodium molybdenum oxide compounds were deposited on the working electrode at the negative potential and the lithium molybdenum oxide compounds were deposited on the counter electrode at positive potential. When UO2 was dissolved into the melt, the reductive reaction of the uranium species was observed at the reductive potential of the pure melt. This suggests that the uranium species dissolved in the melts could be recovered as mixed uranium-molybdenum oxides by electrolysis.

Abstract (sommario):
An experiment was conducted at Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Navsari Agricultural University during the year 2018-19. The methods of micronutrients determination were (i) extracted through diethylene triamine penta acetic acid (DTPA) (ii) extracted through ammonium bicarbonate- diethylene triamine penta acetic acid (AB-DTPA) (iii) extracted through Neubauer. The methods of micronutrients were evaluated through method validation parameters like linearity, sensitivity of instruments, precision and predictability. The available micronutrients determined from the sample soils were correlated with soil physico-chemical properties to know the relationship of these properties with available micronutrients. The linearity study of the series of micronutrients standard were measured through different methods of micronutrient determination. These measured values showed linear relationship with reference values. The coefficient of determination (R2) for all the methods was > 0.90. The precision was determined by relative standard deviation (RSD) (%) of different micronutrient methods which were in the range of 1.834 to 19.11 %. All the studied methods of copper, iron, zinc and manganese determination, AB-DTPA extractant method has highly significant and positive correlation with nutrient uptake by wheat on Microwave Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (MP-AES) instrument. Organic C and sand content of soil have positive correlation with micronutrients availability. While pH, EC, CEC, CaCO3, silt and clay content of soil have negative correlation with available micronutrients.

Abstract (sommario):
Transparency International released an annual report on the corruption perception index in 2018. The survey results of 180 countries showed a bad score because more than two-thirds scored less than 50. The highest score is 100, which means very clean or free of corruption, and the lowest is zero which means it is very corrupt. Indonesia must learn from New Zealand and Australia who have succeeded in helping improve the corruption perception index in their country, even though Indonesia's corruption perception index experienced an upward trend in 2014-2018. In an effort to analyze Good Governance in eradicating corruption in Indonesia, the researchers applied the Penta Helix Model, better known as the ABCGM concept, namely Academicians, Business, Community, Government, and Media to reduce the level of corruption in Indonesia. This research method is qualitative to investigate, find, describe, and explain the quality or features of social influences that cannot be explained, measured or described through a quantitative approach. The Penta Helix model is considered to have a positive influence in eradicating corruption.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract This study aimed to examine the association between clusters of physical activity (PA), diet, and television viewing (TV) with weight status among a representative sample of Brazilian students. Data from the National Health School-based Survey (PeNSE) 2015 were analyzed (n = 16,521; mean age 14.8, standard deviation 0.03 year). PA (minutes/week spent in leisure-time, and commuting to/from school), TV (hours/day), and weekly consumption of deep-fried empanadas, candies, sodas, ultra-processed foods, fast foods, green salads or vegetables, and fruits were self-reported on the validated PeNSE questionnaire. Latent class analysis defined behavior classes, and binary logistic regression assessed the association between clustering and weight status. Six classes’ types with positive and negative behaviors were identified. Adolescents belonging to the “low TV time and high healthy diet” class had higher chances of being overweight (including obesity) compared to their peers in the “moderate PA and mixed diet” class. No associations were found in the other clusters. Mixed classes with healthy and unhealthy behaviors characterized adolescents’ lifestyles and these profiles were related to weight status.

Abstract (sommario):
Politeness is necessary for the way people socialize. However, some people choose to communicate impolitely despite knowing that it’s inappropriate. This study aims to find out how people use impoliteness strategies in communication, and identify the impoliteness strategies used in the Vice-Presidential United States of Amerika candidates debate between Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris on October 8th, 2020, while also figuring out the purpose of using these strategies in the debate. For this reason, to identify the use of impoliteness strategies, the researcher used Jonathan Culpeper's (2005) theory of impoliteness strategies and a qualitative approach to analyze the data. The data was taken from a YouTube video entitled “Full Debate: Vice President Mike Pence and Sen. Kamala Harris | WSJ” posted by the Wall Street Journal on October 8, 2020. The results of this study revealed that four out of five impolite strategies were used, with negative impoliteness as the most commonly used strategy. The other four strategies are bald on record impoliteness, positive impoliteness, negative impoliteness, and sarcasm and mock politeness. Meanwhile, withholding politeness was never used in the debate.

Abstract (sommario):
The objective of this study is to establish normal ranges for the assessment of lung permeability, using 99mTc DTPA (diethylene triamine penta acetate) aerosol by measuring the half-time of transfer from the lung in asymptomatic HIV-positive patients. Also to audit the use of the test in the clinical management of outpatients with symptoms suggestive of Pneumocystis carinii pneumonia (PCP). A retrospective analysis of data from outpatients' notes for the audit of symptomatic patients, and prospective acquisition of 'normal' data for HIVpositive asymptomatic patients who were non-smokers and smokers was performed. Over a period of 8 years, DTPA scans were performed on 400 asymptomatic HIV-positive patients (121 non-smokers and 279 smokers) and 188 symptomatic HIV-positive patients with symptoms suggestive of PCP. A biphasic curve of transfer of 99mTc DTPA with a half-time of less than 4 min, was considered diagnostic of PCP. The mean half-times ( SEM) for asymptomatic non-smokers was 61.4 3 min and for smokers was 21.9 0.8 min. In the symptomatic patients, 106 were treated for PCP and in 97 (91.5%) of these, the transfer was biphasic. Of the remaining 82 patients with respiratory pathology other than PCP, 71 (86.6%) had normal scans. The results show that smokers may have abnormal baseline scans 16/ 279 (5.7%) and therefore a baseline scan before symptoms should be recorded or a higher false positive rate can be expected. The test is however highly sensitive for the detection of PCP and allows the attending physician to initiate PCP treatment without delay.

Abstract (sommario):
Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is a highly contagious and economically important viral disease of both domestic (goats and sheep) and wild small ruminants. Due to the devastating effect of this disease on livestock and livelihoods, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) endorsed the Global Strategy for the Control and Eradication of PPR (PPR GCES) and launched the PPR Global Eradication Programme (PPR GEP) to eradicate PPRV by 2030. In order to achieve this goal, a potent, safe and efficacious live-attenuated PPR vaccine with long-lasting immunity is available for immunoprophylaxis. However, the live-attenuated PPR vaccines are thermolabile and require maintenance of an effective cold chain to deliver to the field. In addition, infected animals cannot be differentiated from vaccinated ones (DIVA). To overcome these limitations, some new generation PPR vaccines have been developed: poxvirus vaccine, positive and negative marker vaccine through reverse genetic approach, chimeric vaccine, anti-idiotypic vaccine, subunit vaccine, virus-like particles vaccine, edible vaccine and combined vaccines. Novel recombinant PPR DIVA vaccines were evaluated in goats for safety and efficacy, and all vaccinated animals were clinically protected against an intranasal PPRV challenge. Furthermore, newly developed ELISAs were capable of differentiating between infected and vaccinated animals. Therefore, these DIVA vaccines and the associated tests can facilitate the serological monitoring process and speed up global PPR eradication through vaccination.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACTInvasive nontyphoidalSalmonella(iNTS) disease is a neglected disease with high mortality in children and HIV-positive individuals in sub-Saharan Africa, caused primarily by Africa-specific strains ofSalmonella entericaserovars Typhimurium and Enteritidis. A vaccine using GMMA (generalized modules for membrane antigens) fromS.Typhimurium andS.Enteritidis containing lipid A modifications to reduce potentialin vivoreactogenicity is under development. GMMA with penta-acylated lipid A showed the greatest reduction in the level of cytokine release from human peripheral blood monocytes from that for GMMA with wild-type lipid A. Deletion of the lipid A modification genesmsbBandpagPwas required to achieve pure penta-acylation. Interestingly, ΔmsbBΔpagPGMMA fromS.Enteritidis had a slightly higher stimulatory potential than those fromS.Typhimurium, a finding consistent with the higher lipopolysaccharide (LPS) content and Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) stimulatory potential of the former. Also, TLR5 ligand flagellin was found inSalmonellaGMMA. No relevant contribution to the stimulatory potential of GMMA was detected even when the flagellin protein FliC fromS.Typhimurium was added at a concentration as high as 10% of total protein, suggesting that flagellin impurities are not a major factor for GMMA-mediated immune stimulation. Overall, the stimulatory potential ofS.Typhimurium andS.Enteritidis ΔmsbBΔpagPGMMA was close to that ofShigellasonneiGMMA, which are currently in phase I clinical trials.

Abstract (sommario):
The therapeutic potential of minigastrin (MG) analogs for the treatment of cholecystokinin-2 receptor (CCK2R)-expressing cancers is limited by poor in vivo stability or unfavorable accumulation in non-target tissues. Increased stability against metabolic degradation was achieved by modifying the C-terminal receptor-specific region. This modification led to significantly improved tumor targeting properties. In this study, further N-terminal peptide modifications were investigated. Two novel MG analogs were designed starting from the amino acid sequence of DOTA-MGS5 (DOTA-DGlu-Ala-Tyr-Gly-Trp-(N-Me)Nle-Asp-1Nal-NH2). Introduction of a penta-DGlu moiety and replacement of the four N-terminal amino acids by a non-charged hydrophilic linker was investigated. Retained receptor binding was confirmed using two CCK2R-expressing cell lines. The effect on metabolic degradation of the new 177Lu-labeled peptides was studied in human serum in vitro, as well as in BALB/c mice in vivo. The tumor targeting properties of the radiolabeled peptides were assessed using BALB/c nude mice bearing receptor-positive and receptor-negative tumor xenografts. Both novel MG analogs were found to have strong receptor binding, enhanced stability, and high tumor uptake. Replacement of the four N-terminal amino acids by a non-charged hydrophilic linker lowered the absorption in the dose-limiting organs, whereas introduction of the penta-DGlu moiety increased uptake in renal tissue.

Abstract (sommario):
Monitoring the transboundary spread of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) virus is an essential part of the global efforts towards the eradication of PPR by 2030. There is growing evidence that Lineage IV is becoming the predominant viral lineage, replacing Lineage I and II in West Africa. As part of a regional investigation, samples collected in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Ghana were screened for the presence of PPRV. A segment of the nucleoprotein gene from positive samples was sequenced, and phylogenetic analysis revealed the co-circulation of Lineage II and IV in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea, and the identification of Lineage IV in Ghana. These data will be of importance to local and regional authorities involved in the management of PPRV spread.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACTThe emergence of antibiotic resistance in recent years has radically reduced the clinical efficacy of many antibacterial treatments and now poses a significant threat to public health. One of the earliest studied well-validated targets for antimicrobial discovery is the bacterial cell wall. The essential nature of this pathway, its conservation among bacterial pathogens, and its absence in human biology have made cell wall synthesis an attractive pathway for new antibiotic drug discovery. Herein, we describe a highly sensitive screening methodology for identifying chemical agents that perturb cell wall synthesis, using the model of the Gram-positive bacteriumBacillus subtilis. We report on a cell-based pilot screen of 26,000 small molecules to look for cell wall-active chemicals in real time using an autonomous luminescence gene cluster driven by the promoter ofywaC, which encodes a guanosine tetra(penta)phosphate synthetase that is expressed under cell wall stress. The promoter-reporter system was generally much more sensitive than growth inhibition testing and responded almost exclusively to cell wall-active antibiotics. Follow-up testing of the compounds from the pilot screen with secondary assays to verify the mechanism of action led to the discovery of 9 novel cell wall-active compounds.

Abstract (sommario):
Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is one of the most important transboundary diseases of small ruminants. In this study, nasal and oral swabs (n = 24) were collected from sheep (n = 7) and goats (n = 17) with clinical signs in southern Ethiopia in March 2020. PPR virus was isolated on Vero dog cells expressing the signaling lymphocyte activation molecule (VDS) and screened using RT-qPCR. Positive samples were confirmed by conventional RT-PCR followed by sequencing of a partial nucleoprotein (N) gene segment. Results revealed that 54% (n = 13/24) of the tested samples were PPRV-positive Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the viruses belonged to lineage IV and lineage II. The lineage IV viruses were similar, although not identical, to other lineage IV viruses previously reported in Ethiopia and other East African countries while the lineage II viruses have been reported for the first time in Ethiopia showed a high nucleotide identity (99.06%) with the vaccine (Nigeria 75/1) that is currently used in Ethiopia for the prevention of PPR. Further investigations are therefore recommended in order to fully understand the true nature of the lineage II PPRVs in Ethiopia.

Abstract (sommario):
Healthy livestock provide meaningful opportunities to enhance women’s empowerment (WE) in low- and middle-income countries. Animal vaccines are important to keep livestock healthy and productive. However, gender-based restrictions limit women’s access to animal health services, thereby affecting the potential of livestock to enhance their empowerment. While growing empirical evidence reveals that women-controlled livestock (e.g., small ruminants) have important implications for WE and support better household nutrition outcomes, little empirical evidence exists from rigorous analyses of the relationship between WE and animal vaccines for women-controlled livestock species. Our analysis explores the relationship between WE and involvement with PPR vaccination in Ghana. Data collected using the Women’s Empowerment in Livestock Index (WELI) tool from 465 women and 92 men farmers (who keep goats) from northern Ghana, and analyzed using PLS-SEM, revealed a significant direct positive association between knowledge about animal health and PPR vaccines and a significant indirect positive association between access to PPR vaccines and empowerment. The empowerment of women goat farmers, as revealed by our model’s results for the relationship between empowerment and vaccine facets, was significantly represented by asset ownership and input into decisions concerning livestock. These study results reveal important considerations in designing effective and equitable livestock vaccine systems.

Abstract (sommario):
Background The COVID-19 pandemic has been declared the worst public health crisis in the world, with over 50 million global confirmed cases and 1,256,869 global deaths across 214 countries and territories as of November 9, 2020. Among 73 GAVI-eligible countries, 69 of them have reported COVID-19 cases; Indonesia, India, and Pakistan are the countries that comprise the highest number of cases. Afghanistan reported its first case of COVID-19 on February 24, 2020, in Herat province, which was an imported case who had a travel history from Iran. Afghanistan reported 42,092 confirmed cases and 1558 deaths as of November 9, 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, around 300,000 Afghans returned from Iran and Pakistan, and this overwhelmed the government’s attempts to control the outbreak. There is no specific treatment for COVID-19, and no vaccine has been introduced yet. However, the World Health Organization recommends some measures in order to decrease the spread of virus transmission, such as physical distancing, avoiding gatherings, closing schools and universities, wearing masks, and home quarantine. Despite the lockdown of cities, health service delivery remains open in Afghanistan during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reporting of confirmed cases remains low; only health facilities are reporting confirmed cases and deaths. Hospitals have begun to lose staff; health staff are not only becoming ill or dying, they are also not able to work under conditions with highly contaminated environments and health hazards. The reporting of COVID-19 data has been unreliable. At first, the government only managed 100 tests per day, and the majority of people did not have access to HFs for testing, which caused the virus to start spreading throughout the community. In a recent nationwide, population-based seroepidemiological study that the Ministry of Public Health conducted on July in 9 regions of Afghanistan, around 10 million people were affected by COVID-19. The total proportion of COVID-19–positive infections was 31.5%. The highest proportion of COVID-19–positive infections was in Kabul region (53%). The east region had the second highest proportion of COVID-19–positive infections, which was 43% (Ministry of Public Health, 2020). Routine immunization is a vital component in reducing morbidity and mortality and one of the top priorities for the Ministry of Public Health. The health facilities that provide EPI services remain open all over the country, but the outreach and mobile sessions have been mostly suspended due to the lockdown, and families have been unable to reach HFs due to restrictions. In Kenya, the EPI performance dropped by 20% in the second quarter of 2020. In addition, in Bangladesh, Penta-3 coverage was 50% lower in April 2020 compared to that in the same period in 2019. As per our review on the routine immunization coverage for Pakistan, the first case of COVID-19 in Pakistan was reported on February 26, 2020, and Pakistan reported 344,839 confirmed cases and 6977 deaths as of November 9, 2020. More than 1 million children had missed vaccine doses by July 1, 2020, in Pakistan. The immunization coverage decreased by 49% for Penta-3 during March to April 2020 when compared with that in 2019 for the same months in Pakistan. Generally, the immunization uptake dropped by more than half during the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan (GAVI, 2020). Objective The primary objective of this study is to analyze the data on how much the EPI performance dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic and to determine its impact on routine immunization coverage. The secondary objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the data from April, May, June, and July for 2019 and 2020 and compare the coverage of different antigens in this period; (2) to learn how much the coverage of routine immunization dropped due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and (3) to trend analyze Penta-3, Measles-1, and TT2+(PW) coverage from December 2019 to August 2020. Methods This was a descriptive analysis of secondary data that existed in the EPIMIS database at the national level. The EPIMIS database is a part of the HMIS at the Ministry of Public Health. It was developed in 2015, and it is used as a data collection and extraction tool at the national and provincial levels. We extracted routine immunization data from the EPIMIS database from April to July of both 2019 and 2020 for comparison. In addition, we reviewed the trend analysis conducted from December 2019 to August 2020 that compared the four months prior to the lockdown (from December 2019 to March 2020) with the COVID-19 lockdown period (from April to July 2020). We managed and analyzed the data by using Microsoft Excel 2016 and Epi Info 7.2. Results Data for the main EPI indicators were analyzed at the national and provincial levels. As shown in our graph, the routine immunization coverage dropped by 11%, 2%, and 12% for Penta-3, Measles-1, and TT2+(PW), respectively, during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown period (April to July 2020) when compared to those in 2019 for the same period. During the lockdown, the supplementary immunization activities for polio eradication nationwide, which were scheduled for May and June, were postponed as well. However, the coverage for OPV-3 decreased by 6% during the lockdown when compared with that in the same period of last year. The table shows the dropped percentages of all antigens from April to July of 2020 compared to those in the same period in 2019. This high drop in coverage was observed for TT2+(PW) and Penta-3. Moreover, coverage at the provincial level also decreased due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The highest decrease in coverage for Penta-3 and Measles-1—45% and 43%, respectively—was observed in Paktya province during the COVID-19 pandemic (compared to those in the same period in 2019). In addition, the highest TT2+ coverage for pregnant women was observed in Kunduz province, which dropped by 67%. During the lockdown, almost 200 HFs were closed, and the provision of fixed, outreach, and mobile sessions were limited due to COVID-19. The number of fixed sessions declined by 3%, while the number of outreach sessions declined by 1% during the lockdown period. Overall, 202,408 children in fixed sessions and 24,173 children in mobile sessions were missed during the lockdown period due to COVID-19 when compared to those in the same period in 2019. This decline was observed for Penta-3, Measles-1, and TT2+(PW) coverage due to COVID-19. The trend analyses for Penta-3, Measles-1, and TT2+(PW) for December 2019 to August 2020 indicates that the coverage of routine immunization slightly declined from April to July 2020 when compared to that in the months prior to the lockdown period. Based on the trend analyses, immunization coverage started to resume in July 2020. Conclusions Compared to the regional countries in which the EPI performance dropped by a high percentage, routine immunization coverage in Afghanistan dropped by 11% for Penta-3 and by 2% for Measles-1 during the lockdown period due to COVID-19. This reveals that the Afghanistan EPI team performed better during a crisis than lower-middle–income countries. However, there is a need for proper planning to protect essential health services during emergencies. In addition, the performance of fixed and outreach sessions for EPI activities declined by 3% and 1%, respectively, during the lockdown, which had a minor impact on routine immunization activities.

Abstract (sommario):
BACKGROUND Significant correlation between lymphatic, microvascular, and perineural invasion (LMPI) and the prognosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PENTs) was confirmed by previous studies. There was no previous study reported the relationship between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters and LMPI. AIM To determine the feasibility of using preoperative MRI of the pancreas to predict LMPI in patients with non-functioning PENTs (NFPNETs). METHODS A total of 61 patients with NFPNETs who underwent MRI scans and lymphadenectomy from May 2011 to June 2018 were included in this retrospective study. The patients were divided into group 1 (n = 34, LMPI negative) and group 2 (n = 27, LMPI positive). The clinical characteristics and qualitative MRI features were collected. In order to predict LMPI status in NF-PNETs, a multivariate logistic regression model was constructed. Diagnostic performance was evaluated by calculating the receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve with area under ROC, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV) and accuracy. RESULTS There were significant differences in the lymph node metastasis stage, tumor grade, neuron-specific enolase levels, tumor margin, main pancreatic ductal dilatation, common bile duct dilatation, enhancement pattern, vascular and adjacent tissue involvement, synchronous liver metastases, the long axis of the largest lymph node, the short axis of the largest lymph node, number of the lymph nodes with short axis > 5 or 10 mm, and tumor volume between two groups (P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that tumor margin (odds ratio = 11.523, P < 0.001) was a predictive factor for LMPI of NF-PNETs. The area under the receiver value for the predictive performance of combined predictive factors was 0.855. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and accuracy of the model were 48.1% (14/27), 97.1% (33/34), 97.1% (13/14), 70.2% (33/47) and 0.754, respectively. CONCLUSION Using preoperative MRI, ill-defined tumor margins can effectively predict LMPI in patients with NF-PNETs.

Abstract (sommario):
Consumer acceptance of sensory quality was significantly correlated (P = 0.05) with overall eating quality of tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) determined by a trained taste panel. The overall eating quality was partitioned into three flavor components (sweetness, sourness, and aroma) and internal texture. Relationships between the sensory flavor components and concentrations of several chemical compounds were analyzed in tomatoes of eleven varieties within a range of acceptable texture. Sweetness was significantly correlated with total sugar concentration and overall flavor at P = 0.01 and 0.001. High concentrations of two ketone volatiles (6-methyl-5-hepten-2-one and 1-penten-3-one) were significantly correlated with aroma and overall flavor at P = 0.05 to 0.001. This study indicates that positive tomato flavor may be characterized by high sweetness, moderate acidity, and high concentrations of certain ketone volatiles.

Abstract (sommario):
Several organotin(IV) derivatives of phenolic Schiff bases were prepared and investigated by spectroscopic methods. These compounds were bioassayed to evaluate their bacterial effect against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium) microorganisms. Dimeric and monomeric compounds were characterized by infrared in solid state. Metallic centers having penta-, hexa-, and heptacoordination were identified by multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C and 119Sn) in solution. The di- and triorganotin(IV) derivatives were also investigated by conductimetric measurements in methanol, elemental analysis and melting point. The bioassay of these tin(IV) compounds showed that the best resulting activity was against S. aureus for the triphenyltin(IV) phenolic Schiff base derivatives, presenting MICs of 1.1 µM (0.6 mg mL-1) and 2.2 µM (1.3 mg mL-1).

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose The cardiac and antineoplastic effects of trastuzumab may be related to specific uptake of trastuzumab in myocardium and tumor tissue, respectively. We evaluated whether indium-111 (111In) –labeled trastuzumab scintigraphy can predict cardiotoxicity and identify tumor lesions. In addition, we evaluated whether plasma markers for cardiac dysfunction can be used to predict cardiotoxicity. Patients and Methods Patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) –positive metastatic breast cancer underwent gamma camera imaging from 15 minutes to 7 days after injection of 150 MBq 111In–diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid anhydride (DTPA) –trastuzumab, after loading-dose trastuzumab, and after once-a-week trastuzumab doses for 11 weeks, and concomitant paclitaxel once every 3 weeks. Cardiac assessments were performed before treatment, and after four and six cycles. Plasma N-terminal probrain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and serum troponin I were measured with immunoassay. Results Fifteen of the 17 patients were available for cardiac and tumor uptake analysis. On the first scan, myocardial 111In-DTPA-trastuzumab uptake was observed in one patient with pre-existing cardiac arrhythmias, who did not develop heart failure during treatment. Severe cardiotoxicity occurred in three patients, without initial myocardial uptake, whereas one showed weak myocardial uptake after four cycles. The detection rate of single tumor lesions was 45%. New tumor lesions were discovered in 13 of 15 patients. Pretreatment plasma NT-proBNP levels were higher in patients with than without heart failure (mean, 534 [standard deviation, 236] v 105 [standard deviation, 79] ng/L; P = .009). Conclusion Radiolabeled trastuzumab scintigraphy was not valuable in predicting trastuzumab-related cardiotoxicity in metastatic breast cancer patients, but can identify HER2-positive tumors. Measurement of plasma NT-proBNP is promising regarding prediction of trastuzumab-related cardiotoxicity.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Aim: In this study, laboratory scoping on the viruses that cause peste des petits ruminants (PPR), bluetongue (BT), and foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) was performed to evaluate the current status of animals illegally introduced into Egypt. This study aims to help control these infectious illnesses and tries to prevent the introduction of other strains of these three viruses to Egypt, as these illnesses spread quickly if not controlled. Materials and Methods: In the year 2018, 62 serum samples were collected and serologically tested through competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) kits to detect antibodies against PPR, BT, and FMD, which are three important transboundary infectious illnesses. Results: The results indicated that 60 out of 62 serum samples were positive for PPR antibodies (96.7%), 31 out of 62 were positive for FMD antibodies (50%), and 59 out of 62 serum samples were positive for BT antibodies (95%). Conclusion: This study revealed that PPR, FMD, and BT can be introduced into Egypt through the illegal introduction of sheep and goat from neighboring countries. Laboratory diagnostic abilities should be improved for the early detection and control of these illnesses.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is a contagious viral disease of small ruminants that is of economic importance in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. We developed a rapid competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (rapid c-ELISA) for the diagnosis and surveillance of PPR. This assay detects PPR virus (PPRV) antibodies in serum samples by quantifying the amount of monoclonal antibody (MAb) P-3H12 after 30 min of incubation of a serum-MAb conjugate mixture on plates coated with a PPRV recombinant nucleocapsid protein (rPPRV-N). We tested 249 PPRV-positive serum samples and 733 PPRV-negative serum samples from field ruminants. The threshold of percent inhibition (PI) was determined to be <50 on the basis of the mean PI plus 3 standard deviations for sera from PPRV-negative ruminants. The relative specificity and sensitivity of the rapid c-ELISA were 98.5% (722 of 733 serum samples) and 93.4% (234 of 249 serum samples), respectively. The rapid c-ELISA sensitively detected PPRV antibodies in hyperimmune sera (virus neutralization test [VNT] titer, >512), even at dilutions ≥512 in normal goat serum, and as early as 6 to 13 days postinfection from 12 goats, each of which was infected with one of the four PPRV lineages. Hyperimmune sera from animals experimentally vaccinated with rinderpest virus gave positive results by the rapid c-ELISA when the rinderpest virus VNT titers were >512, although the rapid c-ELISA titers were very low (2 to 16). However, the rapid c-ELISA was negative when the rinderpest virus VNT titer was ≤128. The rapid c-ELISA developed in the present work provides a short turnaround time and could be a useful tool for the diagnosis of PPR and screening for PPRV in the field.

Abstract (sommario):
PPR (Peste des Petits Ruminants) is a transboundary disease, listed in the OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code, which Mongolia and other countries are obligated to report the disease to the OIE according to the criteria [1]. Purpose of this study is to conduct sero-epidemiological survey for detection of PPR antibody in livestock and susceptible animals from aimag, soums near border area because 244 outbreaks have been recorded [2] in China mainland since September, 2013. A total of 1950 goat and sheep serum samples from 52 soums of 15 aimags have been examined by “ID VET” Competitive ELISA kit for antibody detection. Result showed that PPR virus antibodies have been found in 12 samples from 1550 sheep, and 4 samples from 400 goat samples which have been examined. The same result has been shown after the re-testing the positive samples by ELISA with the serum titration of 1:4 and 1:8. PPR Global strategy for prevention, control and eradication of PPR by 2030, has been developed by OIE and FAO [14]. PPR recommendation has been developed in accordance with the Global strategy and sero-surveillance conducted in Mongolia.

Abstract (sommario):
Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is an important transboundary animal disease of domestic small ruminants, camels, and wild artiodactyls. The disease has significant socio-economic impact on communities that depend on livestock for their livelihood and is a threat to endangered susceptible wild species. The aim of this review was to describe the introduction of PPR to Tanzania and its subsequent spread to different parts of the country. On-line databases were searched for peer-reviewed and grey literature, formal and informal reports were obtained from Tanzanian Zonal Veterinary Investigation Centres and Laboratories, and Veterinary Officers involved with PPR surveillance were contacted. PPR virus (PPRV) was confirmed in northern Tanzania in 2008, although serological data from samples collected in the region in 1998 and 2004, and evidence that the virus was already circulating in Uganda in 2003, suggests that PPRV might have been present earlier than this. It is likely that the virus which became established in Tanzania was introduced from Kenya between 2006–7 through the cross-border movement of small ruminants for trade or grazing resources, and then spread to eastern, central, and southern Tanzania from 2008 to 2010 through movement of small ruminants by pastoralists and traders. There was no evidence of PPRV sero-conversion in wildlife based on sera collected up to 2012, suggesting that they did not play a vectoring or bridging role in the establishment of PPRV in Tanzania. PPRV lineages II, III and IV have been detected, indicating that there have been several virus introductions. PPRV is now considered to be endemic in sheep and goats in Tanzania, but there has been no evidence of PPR clinical disease in wildlife species in Tanzania, although serum samples collected in 2014 from several wild ruminant species were PPRV sero-positive. Similarly, no PPR disease has been observed in cattle and camels. In these atypical hosts, serological evidence indicates exposure to PPRV infection, most likely through spillover from infected sheep and goats. Some of the challenges for PPRV eradication in Tanzania include movements of small ruminants, including transboundary movements, and the capacity of veterinary services for disease surveillance and vaccination. Using wildlife and atypical domestic hosts for PPR surveillance is a useful indicator of endemism and the ongoing circulation of PPRV in livestock, especially during the implementation of vaccination to control or eliminate the disease in sheep and goats. PPR disease has a major socio-economic impact in Tanzania, which justifies the investment in a comprehensive PPRV eradication programme.

Abstract (sommario):
The objectives of this study were to identify dietary patterns in Brazilian adolescents, describe their distributions in Brazil's State capitals and Federal District, and analyze the correlations with the Municipal Human Development Index (HDI-M). The study analyzed a sample of 60,954 ninth-graders from public and private schools who participated in the National School-Based Health Survey (PeNSE) in 2009. Cluster analysis was used to characterize dietary patterns. Three patterns were identified: healthy (27.7%), unhealthy (34.6%), and mixed (37.7%). Adolescents in the country's Southeast, South, and Central West regions showed a higher proportion of the healthy eating pattern. HDI-M showed a positive correlation with the healthy pattern and a negative correlation with the mixed pattern. The identification of different dietary patterns within and between regions and according to HDI-M highlights the need for better knowledge of each local context in terms of both the magnitude of events and the examination of determinants within these different realities.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
A significant area of study and upgrading for increasing sensitivity and general performances of matrix-assisted laser-desorption ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry (MS) is related to matrix design. Several efforts have been made to address the challenge of low-mass-region interference-free for metabolomics analysis and specifically for lipidomics. To this aim, rationally designed matrices as 4-chloro-α-cyanocinnamic acid (ClCCA) were introduced and reported to provide enhanced analytical performances. We have taken this rational design one step further by developing and optimizing new MALDI matrices with a range of modifications on the CHCA core, involving different functionalities and substituents. Of particular interest was the understanding of the electron-withdrawing (e.g., nitro-) or donating (e.g., methoxy-) effects along with the extent of conjugation on the ionization efficiency. In the present work, ten matrices were designed on a reasonable basis, synthesized, and characterized by NMR and UV spectroscopies and laser desorption ionization. With the assistance of these putative MALDI matrices, samples containing phospholipids (PL), and neutral di-/tri-acylglycerols (DAG, TAG) were investigated using milk, fish, blood, and human plasma extracts. In comparison with CHCA and ClCCA, four of them, viz. [(2E,4E)-2-cyano-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)penta-2,4-dienoic acid] (1), [(2E,4E)-2-cyano-5-(4-nitrophenyl)penta-2,4-dienoic acid] (2), [(E)-2-cyano-3-(6-methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)acrylic acid] (6) and [(E)-2-cyano-3-(naphthalen-2-yl)acrylic acid] (7) displayed good to even excellent performances as MALDI matrices in terms of ionization capability, interference-free spectra, S/N ratio, and reproducibility. Especially compound 7 (cyano naphthyl acrylic acid, CNAA) was the election matrix for PL analysis and matrix 2 (cyano nitrophenyl dienoic acid, CNDA) for neutral lipids such as DAG and TAG in positive ion mode.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation constitutes a serious complication after allogeneic peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT). The frequency of CMVpp65 specific CD8+ T cells is pivotal for the clearance of CMV. CMVpp65 specific CD8+ T cell frequencies can be measured using tetra-, penta- and streptamer technologies, streptamers can also be applied therapeutically. In donors, these frequencies might allow us to define the best available donor in addition to the mere serostatus. In the present study we investigated the specificity and sensitivity of all three methods and compared the results to the serostatus. A therapeutical application, i.e. an adoptive transfer of CMV specific CD8+ T cells selected by streptamer technology to a patient with acute lymphatic leukemia suffering from life-threatening CMV antigenemia after allogeneic PBSCT was performed. 23 samples from CMV seropositive healthy volunteers (HV) and 10 samples from CMV seropositive patients before and after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (all HLA-A2 or -B7 positive) were analyzed with tetra-, penta- or streptamer conjugated to PE by flow cytometry. Our lab took part in an inter-lab CMV multimer assay including 20 European countries in the framework of www.kimt.de. For the adoptive T cell transfer a donor leukapheresis was performed followed by an HLA-B7 CMVpp65 streptamer positive selection. The patient received 2×10E5 CMV specific CD8+ T cells per kg body weight as a single transfusion. Optimal amounts of HLA-A2 multimers to stain a pellet of 10E6 cells were 0.44 mcg tetramer, 0.15 mcg pentamer and 0.2 mcg MHC/0.3 mcg streptactin complex. Surprisingly, only in 48% (11/23) seropositive HV CD8+ multimer+ T cells could be detected. The ALL patient developed a foscarvir resistant CMV antigenemia with a maximum of 959/500,000 CMVpp65 positive cells. After a switch to ganciclovir/valganciclovir and an adoptive transfer of CMV specific T cells, the antigenemia was cleared. Valganciclovir was discontinued, but CMV antigenemia remained controlled. The frequency of CMVpp65 specific CD8+ T cells increased dramatically from 0.0% till 19.8%. All of these T cells were donor derived as demonstrated by small tandem repeat (STR) analysis. The patient did not develop signs of CMV disease at any time point. This study demonstrates the power of multimer staining to define appropriate donors for transplantation. Donors should be screened for their CMVpp65 specific CD8+ T cell frequency. All three multimer technologies can be used yielding similar results. The streptamer technology additionally offers the advantage to select CMVpp65 specific CD8+ T cells at the GMP level for adoptive T cell transfer and can induce long-lasting CD8+ T cell responses effectively clearing even a high virus load.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this study was to investigate the molecular epidemiology of peste des petits ruminants (PPR) infections associated with abortion in sheep and goat samples from the Marmara region of Turkey during 2018. The study was carried out from 116 sheep and 26 goat abortion cases. PPR virus (PPRV) detection in these samples was performed using real-time RT-PCR (Q-RT-PCR). Then, sequence analysis was performed from PPRV positive samples. Q-RT-PCR results demonstrated that 12 (10.34%) out of 116 sheep abortion samples and 3 (11.53%) out of 26 goat abortion samples were positive for PPRV genome. The sequence results of RT-PCR positive products revealed that the viruses causing the cases belong to lineage IV. Furthermore, molecular analysis showed that present cases were not related to PPRV vaccine strains or its mutants. Marmara region, where this study was conducted, is a neighbour of European countries such as Bulgaria and Greece. The first PPR cases in Europe were reported from Bulgaria at the beginning of 2018 and subsequently, other cases also reported before are mentioned in the present study. This study provides valuable information to understand the epidemiology of recently emerged PPRV cases in Europe and Turkey. Furthermore, because of the prevalence of PPRV in abortion samples in this study, these results suggest that PPRV may be one of the possible etiologic agents of abortions in sheep and goat. However, for clarification of the relationship between abortion and PPRV, there is need more robust epidemiological data and experimental infection studies
