Liu, Chiao-Mei. "Cézanne : la série du Château Noir". Paris 1, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998PA010572.
Testo completoThis thesis aims at first studying a neglected series of landscapes by Cezanne done around chateau noir during a. 1895-1906, and, secondly, reconstitute Cezanne's colour in impressionnist aesthetics. The influence of Cezanne on abstract art is analyzed from a new point of view. Part II presents the place of chateau noir and the youth of cCezanne around tholonet, near Aix-en-Provence. His studies in Fontainebleau are considered together with his work at chateau noir. Part III treats the series of chateau noir and the art of Cezanne's time. The pictures are divised into two groups : architecture with trees, and trees and rocks. The fontainebleau are compared to the chateau noir. I remark the fragmentation of form, in the development from romanticism to impressionism. Part IV treats the chromatic harmony of Cezanne and its phenomenological aspect. I find the return of his youth in the colour of his last landscapes. Cezanne's multiple modulation of colours achieves a phenomenological, discontinuous spacial depth. His sensations of colours are also studied in the aesthetics of correspondances of Baudelaire. Part V outlines cezanne's modernity in the context of impressionnist aesthetics and fin-desiecle culture. Cezanne's phenomenological colour formulates the discontinous temporality, which is the implicit condition of impressionist subjectivity. I close this thesis on the influence of Cezanne on abstraction in discontinuous temporality - the dynamics and the opening of creative process
Maury, Gilles. "Le château Vaissier, 1892-1929 : archéologies de la demeure orientaliste d'un savonnier de Roubaix". Versailles-St Quentin en Yvelines, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009VERS002S.
Testo completoThe castle of the soap-manufacturer Victor Vaissier (1851-1923) was built in the center of the Lille metropolis during it economic expansion. Known as the "palace of Congo", this mansion was in fact closer to the Taj-Mahal and gave hundreds of Indian artistical references. The architect, Edouard Rozan (1842-1901) from Roubaix, had materialized the strange desires of this client, famous for his advanced commercial ideas. Destroyed in 1929, the castle remains associated to the strong memories left by Victor Vaissier. It still fascinates, but the complete lack of primary sources had for a long time hindered any kind of research. How to tell the story of a building, without the architect's archives, or those of the owner, and without the building itself ? The reconstitution of this history has been made by the architectural reception instruments. The comparison between historical sources with the material traces left by the demolition - preserved or reused elements - has authorized a kind of archaeology of the studied object. By questioning the diffusion of indian architecture in France, by examining what the trademark and the commercial imagination were like the archaelogy of the architectural project reveals the conditions of the creation and the inspirations of this oriental palace. Despite its fancy look, Castle Vaissier was in fact a very well built construction, for which the architect had to coordinate skilled building firms and renowned artists. Mostly considered as a local curiosity until now, Castle Vaissier has recovered a national and international status thanks to this reconstructed history
Bel, Valérie. "Recherches sur la nécropole gallo-romaine du Valladas à Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux (Drôme)". Aix-Marseille 1, 1991. http://www.theses.fr/1992AIX10041.
Testo completoExcavations at the cemetery of the valladas at saint-paul-trois-chateaux (drome, france) yielded a group of 230 graves (incinerations and inhumations) dating back from between 20 a. D. And 200 a. D. , together with the foundations of a circular mausoleum. The site was most densely occupied at the end of the ist century a. D. Clusters of graves sometimes are enclosed within masonry walls or mere ditches, and so, it is possible to reconstruct the limits of funeral plots, themselves defined according to the pattern of the "cadastre b" of orange. The evolution of funeral rites brought about the inhumation of adult persons during the 2nd century; an extension of primary incinerations, from the middle of the ist century on; and, correlatively, the gradual disappearence of the traditional rite which was a secondary incineration with an urn. The most usual burial technique is secondary incineration without any urn, much simpler and poorer. There is indeed some relationship between the amount of offerings and the more or less comoplicated organization of the grave. Such an organization is dictated by very exact rules, which can be inferred, for instance, from the way objects are placed according to their respective kind (vessels, scent flasks lamps, food offerings, personal belongings. . . ) with the passin of time
Hirzel, Lara. "Châteaux intérieurs : du théâtre de la mémoire aux espaces imaginaires". Thesis, Paris Sciences et Lettres (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PSLEE057/document.
Testo completoThe thesis Mind Palaces, from Memory Theatre to Imaginary Spaces is composed of three films, one video installation and two scripts. These works focus on questions of places and their memory. From ancient rhetorical mnemonics to the use of flashbacks in film editing, this study covers the fields of photography, fine arts, literature and film, in order to come up with its own artistic interpretation of philosophical concepts. Each project develops its own way of broaching the representation of a dreamt-up, imagined space; be it relating to the "genre" of proposals, to the role given to the audience, or, at the very heart of the films, to the multi- plicity of subjectivities of the characters. Thus, the film Remains evokes Saint Augustine and the art of memory, whilst Mermaids plays with various editing and reminiscence effects. Secret Passages links real places and fictional spaces through the in situ installation in the village of Binic, and the act of wandering therefore beco- mes another way of replaying the discursive journey in the method of loci. As for the Without Percival script, based on Virginia Woolf's The Waves, it differentiates between multiple points of view on a given moment shared in a single place. In a different way, Atoms plays with the whale as a symbolic place against which imaginations wash up and diverge. Finally, by using the idea of an interior space within the fic- tion itself, the Mind Palaces project provides a way of updating ancient philosophical and theological theories, based on a modern variation of Saint Teresa of Ávila. This last script combines a number of concepts that are frequently alluded to, revisited and mentioned in Christianity, and are here distorted, transformed and used in the fiction itself

Testo completoThe invention of Polignac will evoke the way in which the circles of amateurs of art and style of antiquity, scholars, archaeologists and artists (local, national but also international) created, invented and glorified the castle and the name “Polignac” starting from a idealized mineral environment. Since 1471, writings tell that St George, evangelistic figure of Velay, would have come in Polignac to demolish the representation of God Apollo, Master of the idols of the area. Consequently, the family of Polignac, whose native cradle is the castle, sees itself offering divine origins. The site of Polignac shared the scientific community between the “apollomaniacs”, in favour of a legitimacy drawn from antiquity to ensure the radiation and the power fortress through times, and the “antiapollomaniacs”, which broke this mythological fabric. The subject will open the doors of a world where the vellaves traditions have been with being (re)discovered by the means of the local scholarship for five centuries and in particular with XIXe and XXe centuries. This study will explore the networks of the learned societies to infiltrate their bonds and all that could have influenced the judgement of the researcher following the social origin, political, religious, … The confrontation of the texts and the iconography will enable us to find elements allowing a better comprehension of the monumental history of the castle. The family acts on the destiny of its name and supplements the mythical dimension which is attached to it. The topicality and the excavations in progress let predict new studies, new invalidations or confirmations concerning the presence of an ancient building on the top or with the foot of the village. The name “Polignac”, the castle and the rock which supports on it, release one will have palpable: it is at the same time historical and mythological, almost magic. It is a “place of memory” which since prehistory is the witness of our patrimony, a support with the scientific and artistic meditation which carries an ancestral legend

Testo completoA thorough architectural study of the cathedrals of saint-paul-troischateaux and arles reveals the complex evolution of their construction and a direct relationship that linked the former to the latter edifice. Thus, the combined relative chronology of both chruches provides important clues to the evolution of provencal romanesque architecture in general. The outstanding construction of saint-trophime influenced several other churches more or less directly related by their structure, construction and decoration; thus, saint-trophime, saint-paul and the related aisled nave churches, analyzed in a series of monographic studies (cruas abbey church, la garde-adhemar, cathedrals of orange and vaison-la-romaine, saint-honorat-des-aliscamps and saint-blaise in arles, saint-paul-de-mausole, the major of marseille and notre-dame-du-chateau at saint-etienne-du-gres), offer a solid base for further general investigations, leading to a more thorough understanding of the development of romanesque church building in provence from the middle of the eleventh to the first half of the thirteenth century

Testo completoIntensive use of pesticides led to a widespread contamination of water, air and soils compartments. The present study focused on two main subjects, one based the ecodynamic of pesticides in Garonne River by characterization of sources, presence and outcome of these molecules and one other based on their transfer to air, water and soil compartments of a vineyard. Easy and fast methods of extractions were optimized although they were sensitive in order to be applied for mildly contaminated samples. Most quantified pesticides in Bordeaux wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) were diuron, imidaclopride and fipronil (≈ 50-100 ng.L-1). As treatments were not efficient to remove pesticides, effluents are a significant source for the Garonne River (daily discharge around 5 g). Even if major pesticides in Garonne River were metolachlor and its metabolites (≈ 10-800 ng.L-1) which showed spring peaks, typical WWTP pesticides were also quantified. Concentrations were lower (0,5 - 20 ng.L-1) and variable but they cannot be neglected as they can be highly toxic. Fipronil was for instance detected at concentrations sometimes exceeding its PNEC (0.77 ng.L-1).Vineyard soils were characterized by spring peaks of pesticides (50-1000 ng.g-1) that can be related to applications, like boscalid or azoxystrobine. Pesticides forbidden for a long time have also been detected, like diuron but in lower concentrations levels (ng.g-1) and less variable, that highlighted persistence of such molecule. Atmospheric compartment was also characterized by spring peaks than can be related to applications and molecule volatility, with the presence of folpet and chlorpyrifos-methyl. Pesticides non used by the vineyard were also detected such as metolachlor, which highleted the transport of such molecules. Forbidden (diuron), non-used (metolachlor) and currently used (boscalid) pesticides were detected in the aquifer
