Abstract (sommario):

The ‘Van Lynden Collection’ comprises forty-four paintings that were hung in the Lyndenstein country house in Beetsterzwaag by Baron van Lynden (1827-1896) and his mother Cornelia van Borcharen (1789-1864), and forty-six paintings purchased from 1860 onwards, when the baron married Maria Catharina, Baroness van Pallandt (1834-1905), for their residence in The Hague. The baroness’s involvement is not mentioned in archival documents because of women’s legal incapacity at the time. The article corrects this by referring to the Van Lynden-Van Pallandt Collection and discussing the history of all the works. Lyndenstein was home to an almost encyclopaedic selection of finely painted works by Dutch Romantic artists to which Van Lynden, when a young man, added paintings from exhibitions of Living Artists that mostly had already received awards. Louwrens Hanedoes, himself a painter and a relative, might have mediated and represented the baron in purchasing. In their Hague residence, Van Lynden and Van Pallandt hung modern French works painted in a loose or even sketchy manner. These were acquired during visits they made together to sales and galleries in Paris and through their commercial relationship with Goupil & Cie (from 1884 Boussod, Valadon & Cie) and the firm of Wisselingh & Co, both with branches in the Netherlands. The collection from Lyndenstein arrived in the Rijksmuseum in 1899; in 1900 it was followed by the Hague collection, which had also been bequeathed but was then donated by Baroness van Pallandt during her lifetime. It was not possible to keep the Van Lynden-Van Pallandt Collection together because of the rapid expansion of the collection of late nineteenth-century paintings, the changing appreciation of modern art and the nationalist preference for Dutch art in general and the Hague School in particular, and long-term loans to other institutions. A number of the French masterpieces were not hung permanently until after the Rijksmuseum had been renovated (2013).

Trata-se de um documento interessante, no qual o filósofo das ideias claras e distintas revela seu genuíno afeto por Elisabeth da Boêmia, sobretudo por ela ser uma princesa interessada por escritos de metafísica e, inclusive, por ter lido suas Meditações. Estamos diante do início de uma relação epistolar, filosófica e verdadeiramente amistosa, que irá perdurar até a morte de Descartes, o que se deu no ano de 1650, em Estocolmo.

Abstract (sommario):

This paper argues that the Pallant v Morgan equity should not be recognised as an independent doctrine because it does not rest on any tenable jurisprudential basis. It shows that a characterisation based on ‘common intention’ should be rejected because it is inconsistent with established legal principles and commercial practice. The alternative explanation based on breach of fiduciary duty, as suggested by Etherton LJ in Crossco No. 4 Unlimited v Jolan Unlimited [2011] 2 All ER 754 fares no better, as there is no reason why the Pallant v Morgan equity cases should be considered separately from other instances of breach of fiduciary duty in law. Further, this account must however be read in light of the Court of Appeal's decision in Sinclair Investments (UK) Ltd v Versailles Trade Finance Ltd [2011] 3 WLR 1153 which ruled that proprietary relief is only allowed in circumstances where the breach amounts to abuse of the principal's asset. This requirement is particularly difficult to satisfy in the paradigm case of the Pallant v Morgan equity, save in the case of agency. But where there is a relationship of agency, a constructive trust will also arise in accordance with an established agency principle, resulting in duplication in results.

Repeated comments are made as to the similarity between the common intention constructive trust and proprietary estoppel, but there remains considerable confusion over the precise nature of this interrelationship. The constituent elements of each doctrine bear close comparison and, although their respective modes of operation remain distinct, they may lead to similar results. The recent redefinition of the Pallant v Morgan equity provides an opportunity to probe once more the interrelationship between these doctrines. The Pallant v Morgan1 equity explores the operation of the Rochefoucauld v Boustead2 doctrine in the context of the joint acquisition of land and demonstrates the enforceability of express oral intention based upon a wider range of unconscionablity than the detriment based conduct which dominates both the common intention constructive trust and estoppel.

Los autores han estudiado los pesos del recién nacido y la placenta en 111 mujeres que viven en Río Pallanga, una ciudad minera situada en 4600 metros de altitud; como control estudiaron 120 mujeres que viven en Lima a 150 metros sobre el nivel del mar. A gran altura 24,3% de los recién nacidos tenían un peso inferior a 2.500 gramos y el valor medio del peso de la placenta fue 557 g. significativamente mayor que a nivel del mar: 500 g. (p <0,005); el cociente de la placenta fue mayor en Río Pallanga que en Lima. Se discute el rol fisiológico de la gran altitud ay placenta.

Abstract (sommario):

This article is devoted to the image of Siberia in the last chapters of Ivan Goncharov’s book the Frigate Pallada. The aim of the article is to reconstruct a comprehensive image of Siberia as an eastern colony of the Russian Empire in the Frigate Pallada. The Frigate Pallada text and the writer’s publicistic and epistolary heritage are the material for the study. The imagological and cultural approaches to the studied material are the methodological basis for this study. The specified aim and used methodology have determined the multidimensional scientific novelty of the study. We have obtained the following study results. Goncharov managed to create the comprehensive image of Siberia in the Frigate Pallada. The imagological approach to the material and G. Gachev’s concept of the national picture of the world expressed by the author’s threefold term Cosmo-Psycho-Logos are adequate to reconstruct the created writer’s image of Siberia. Goncharov contrasts the main features of the Siberian Cosmos (empty spaces and harsh climate) with the humane Siberian Psycho that is due to the harmonious coexistence of Russian settlers and indigenous Siberian ethnic groups. Siberian Logos also convincingly proves this harmonious coexistence depicted by the writer, in particular, the living interaction of the Russian language and the languages of the indigenous Siberian people. Today specialists actively research the us-them category interaction in modern imagology and in literary travelogues in particular. The writer’s comparisons with his own Russian realities are frequent in foreign Siberia. Goncharov’s approach particularity is to perceive foreign space in the light of his own space, this is his human and writer’s worldview. Thus, we have come to the following conclusions. The article demonstrates that Goncharov’s position (an adherent of the humanist ideas and an official, a secretary of the diplomatic expedition at the same time) has resulted in an idyllic positive image of the Siberian region as the eastern colony effectively mastered by the Russian Empire.

A study was carried out to evaluate the geo-spatial variability of soil health parameters in Biwan watershed located in the Mewat district of Haryana in 2012-13. The main objective of this study was to determine spatial variability of selected soil health parameters that influence crop growth and yield. Soil samples (100) with GPS co-ordinates were collected on random basis from Tapkan, Biwan, Shonkh, Palla and Palladi villages of Biwan watershed during pre-monsoon period (May 2012). Soil health parameters such as pH2, electrical conductivity (EC2), organic carbon,Â available NPK and micronutrient (Zn, Fe, Cu and Mn) were analyzed from each sample by the standard methods. The spatial variability maps for different soil health parameters were prepared through GIS software (ArcGIS 9.0). Results indicated that the pH2 (6.0-8.59) and EC2 (<1.0 dS/m) were normal in about 80% of soil samples in watershed area. Comparatively, higher soil salinity was observed in Palladi village. Organic carbon and available nitrogen were low in the soils of whole watershed. The available phosphorous was low in 57% soil samples and rest was in medium. The lower concentration of available phosphorous was in most of the part of watershed, whereas medium concentration was in some part of Biwan and Palladi villages. The available potassium was low in 23%, medium in 67% and high in 10% soil samples. The higher concentration of available potassium was in some parts of Biwan, Shonkh and Palla villages. The Zn concentration was deficient (<0.6 mg/kg) in 70% of soil samples and 30% samples were in sufficient. The higher concentration of Zn was in Tapkan and Palladi villages. 84% soil samples showed the iron (Fe) deficiency. The sufficient Fe concentration was in the scattered patches of the watershed. The Cu and Mn concentrations in most of the soils of Biwan watershed were sufficient. It was concluded from the study that the soil health of Biwan watershed was poor.

Abstract (sommario):

The Sangro Valley Project was established in 1994 by John Lloyd, Neil Christie and Amalia Faustoferri. Its aim was to study anthropogenic change in society, economy and settlement between the Bronze Age and the Middle Ages, within the context of a Mediterranean river valley system (see Lloyd et al. 1997; Lloyd & Faustoferri 1998). Part of this research has integrated field survey between the Sangro river and Monte Pallano with excavations conducted by the Soprintendenza on the mountain itself. Monte Pallano is best known for its fine megalithic walls (Oakely 1995: 84-7), marking a putative oppidum site. Recent Italian excavations [with Anglo-American support] have aimed at clarifying the situation at a substantial public buildinghilla complex on the mountain. This work has been fruitful in its initial phases; much, however, remains to be done.

We investigate the regularity of weak solutions of the relativistic Vlasov–Maxwell system by using Fourier analysis and the smoothing effect of low velocity particles. This smoothing effect has been used by several authors (see Glassey and Strauss 1986; Klainerman and Staffilani, 2002) for proving existence and uniqueness of [Formula: see text]-regular solutions of the Vlasov–Maxwell system. This smoothing mechanism has also been used to study the regularity of solutions for a kinetic transport equation coupled with a wave equation (see Bouchut, Golse and Pallard 2004). Under the same assumptions as in the paper “Nonresonant smoothing for coupled wave[Formula: see text]+[Formula: see text]transport equations and the Vlasov–Maxwell system”, Rev. Mat. Iberoamericana 20 (2004) 865–892, by Bouchut, Golse and Pallard, we prove a slightly better regularity for the electromagnetic field than the one showed in the latter paper. Namely, we prove that the electromagnetic field belongs to [Formula: see text], with [Formula: see text].

The theory of orientalism by E. Said allows for a different reading of I.A. Goncharov’s «Frigate «Pallada». On the one hand, the author considers the West as a traditional dominant culture that is expanding to the East, but, on the other hand, he tries to understand the Eastern countries in their historical development and gives them a more objective assessment than Western writers usually do.

Summary: How people perceive situations and their own reactions to these situations relates to how well they tolerate and control stress. In this paper, the hypothesis was tested that D and AdjD, Rorschach measures of tolerance and stress control, can be shown to relate to individuals' beliefs, both about whether it is possible to control internal states and their perceptions of how well they themselves do so. The study was carried out in a nonclinical population. The findings were, first, that variations in levels of D, but not AdjD and its component variables, were associated with lower or higher scores on the Perceived Control of Internal States Inventory (PCOISI; Pallant, 1998 ), a multidimensional questionnaire on individuals' beliefs about the possibility of controlling internal states.

In the travel diary “Frigate “Pallada”, in the chapter “On the Cape of Good Hope” I.A. Goncharov mentions many Russian songs: author’s and folk songs, romances of various artistic merit, and even an opera aria. Together with the owners of guest houses — the British — travelers sing Scottish and English romances and ballads, once they witness an African “ball”, but still it is the Russian song that accompanies Goncharov and his companions on a trip to South Africa. The article provides the texts of Russian songs that are missing in the narrative (they are only named), and their function is established. During the trip and writing the diary “Frigate “Pallada” Goncharov worked on the novel “Oblomov”, at the same time the Crimean War, tragic for Russia, was going on — these facts helped to make some interesting observations on the functionality of Russian songs. The repertoire of songs that sound during a journey through the Cape Colony of England is thoughtful, and it not only reflects the mood of travelers at one time or another, but also represents the image of Russia, responds to the military situation in the Crimea.

72 early soybean varieties are included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine Suitable for Cultivation in 2022, which is 25% of the total number of all soybean maturity groups. The growing season of all early soybean varieties comprises 86–105 days. Elena has the shortest growing season in the group – 87 days; Deni comes next as it requires 89 days to grow; it is followed by Avanturine and Sprytna the growing of which takes 94 days. Zhakhidka, ES Mentor, Opus, Maxus, ES Favour, Pallada, ES Director, AAC Invest 1605, and Oriana have the longest growing seasons and namely – 105 days. The highest-yielding early soybean varieties included in the State Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine Suitable for Cultivation in 2022 are Estafeta and Sprytna – 3.70 t/ha. Pallada is their runner-up with a yield of 3.67 t/ha followed by Khvylia and Elena – 3.40 t/ha. Varieties with the highest protein content are Opus – 46.0%, AAC Invest – 44.5%, Sultana – 43.5% and ES Gladiator – 43.0%. As for fat, Almaz – 25.5% and Anthracite – 25.0% are leading. The most drought-resistant varieties include Pysanka, Bisser, Estafeta, Alinda, Avanturine, Balaton, Algiz, and ES Favour. The vast majority of soybean varieties are highly resistant to disease, except for Gallek, Opus, and Vilshanka. Varieties with the highest level of resistance to shedding include SVH16T00S2, Pysanka, Bisser, Symphony, Angelica, Estafeta, Sprytna, Phoenix, Alligator, Triad, Alinda, Muse, Ariadna, Avanturine, Furio, Etudes, Pallada. Such varieties as Pysanka, Bisser, Znakhidka, Angelica, Hoverla, Estafeta, Sprytna, ES Mentor, Alligator, Maxus, Sultana, Triad, Alinda, Avanturine, Furio, ES Gladiator, ES Albator, ES Governor, GL Melany, Adessa, Ambella, Raidho have the highest resistance to lodging. Varieties with the maximum lower beans attachment are NS Maximus – 22 cm, Znakhidka, Maxus, Sultana, Perlyna, and Oriana – 16 cm each. The above-listed varieties have higher productivity, better crop quality and agroecological properties, they are more sustainable and adaptable for harvesting.

Hydroponic technology is a farming method that uses water, nutrients, and oxygen. Hydroponic technology has many advantages compared to traditional farming techniques. This study aims to determine how much hydroponic vegetable business income is in each period of the production process for each type of vegetable. A total of 3 informants were interviewed to provide information. Data collection techniques used are observations and interviews. The analytical method used is income analysis and quantitative descriptive. The results of this study indicate that the average total revenue is Rp. 33,275,000 Rp/Kg with an average cost of Rp. 13,506,040 /Kg So that a profit of Rp. 19,768,960 /Mt. This advantage becomes income for CV. Tirta Tani Fram in Tetebatu Village, Pallanga District, Gowa Regency Teknologi hidroponik adalah metode bercocok tanam yang menggunakan air, nutrisi, dan oksigen. Teknologi hidroponik memiliki banyak keunggulan dibandingkan dengan teknik bertanam secara tradisional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui berapa besar pendapatan usaha sayuran hidroponik pada setiap periode proses produksi tiap jenis sayuran. Sebanyak tiga informan yang diwawancarai untuk memberikan informasi. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah analisis pendapatan dan deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa total penerimaan rata-rata sebesar Rp. 33.275.000 Rp/Kg dengan biaya rata-rata yang dikeluarkan sebesar Rp. 13.506.040 /Kg. Sehingga diperoleh keuntungan sebesar Rp. 19.768.960 /Mt. Keuntungan ini menjadi pendapatan bagi CV. Tirta Tani Farm di Desa Tetebatu, Kecamatan Pallanga, Kabupaten Gowa.

Folk literature is the mirror of society. Folk literature reflects the experiences and feelings of the rural people. The customs, rituals, ceremonies and traditions of the country people are expressed in folk literature. The nature of folk literature is seen in many ways. One of them is Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the Vaishnava literatry work. The Alwars composed hymns describing the virtues of Tirumal's marriage and incarnations and showed it up in folk literature. Alwars also sung many lullabies. They have sung a folk song called "Pallandu Vaalththu”. The nature of a woman who is in love with God can be known through the proverbs. Alwars have shown that they celebrated festivals two thousand years ago itself. The repetition of a word in folk literature is one of its characteristics. The opinions of scholars related to folklore are explained in this article. This article reflects the nature of folk literature in Nalayira Divya Prabandham.

Abstract. Intensification of heavy precipitation as discussed in climate change studies has become a public concern, but it has not yet been examined well with observed data, particularly with data at short temporal scale like hourly and sub-hourly data. In this research we digitalized sub-hourly precipitation recorded at the stations of Vercelli (since 1927), Bra (since 1933), Lombriasco (since 1939) and Pallanza (since 1950) in order to investigate historical change in extreme short precipitations. These stations are located in the northwest of Italy. Besides seasonal and yearly maximum of precipitation we adopted two indices of extreme rainfall: the number of events above an extreme threshold (extreme frequency), and the average intensity of rainfall from extreme events (extreme intensity). The results showed a statistically significant increase of the extreme frequency index and spring maximum precipitation for Bra and Lombriasco. The extreme intensity index presented by the means of events above 95th percentile is decreasing for Bra regarding hourly precipitation and increasing for Lombriasco regarding 20 min extreme events. In Pallanza, we noticed only a positive trend of the extreme frequency and extreme intensity indices of events with duration of 30 min. For the analyses presented in this paper, a peak-over-threshold approach was chosen. Investigation presented showed that extreme events have risen in the last 20 yr only for short duration. Here it cannot be said that in our study area recent sub-hourly and hourly precipitation have become unprecedently strong or frequent for all the stations and for all the extreme events duration.

Abstract The industry which was a driving force of the economy and contributed to the population growth in many cities for decades became later the source of their problems. The crisis of the activity of old industrial cities creating the economic base (especially of the traditional industry), provoked by the deindustrialisation process and in post-socialist countries additionally by the “shock” of the economic transformation, caused long-lasting and unfavourable changes in many areas. It resulted in the present process of shrinkage of old industrial cities in demographic, economic, social aspects as well as spatial ones (Bontje 2004; Oswalt 2005; Turok, Mykhnenko 2007; Pallagst et al. 2009; Cunningham-Sabot et al. 2010; Bontje, Musterd 2012; Hospers 2012, 2014; Haase et al. 2013; Pallagst et al. 2014; Stryjakiewicz 2014; Runge et al. 2018). This process can take a different course in different socio-economic patterns depending on the geographical situation and the time of observation. However, it leads to unfavourable results in each place, first of all to a decrease in the number of inhabitants. The aim of the article is twofold: (1) the identification and analysis of the process of urban shrinkage of Wałbrzych city as well as (2) the examination of different regeneration strategies adopted to mitigate negative effects of urban shrinkage. It is particularly important to understand this process and results of the adopted strategies especially in the context of the future development of this city which according to demographic forecasts will be shrinking in the long run.
