Abstract (sommario):

This dissertation consists of a critical essay and a collection of short fiction. The essay discusses how testing the structures of authority is a central component in the signature novels of Jack Kerouac and John Barth. This is visible in both narrative structure and content. As the road becomes the embodiment of Kerouac’s rebellion against a social order that ultimately leads to a disintegration of the family, stories that highlight their own artificiality become Barth’s protest against a literature exhausted by its realist devices. In content (Kerouac) and in form (Barth), both authors seek redemption—a new purpose. But behind every failure stands the figure of the Father/Author. Several themes unite the five stories that form the collection, the most prominent being the male protagonist’s struggle for purpose in a chaotic, hostile, and grotesque world to which he feels no connection. The stories use dark humor and, at times, fantasy against a realistic background to capture a feeling more than a type of character: a sense of lostness, of wandering without direction in a world where the road is the purpose and running away or being silent is a way of being.

The collection is tied together and framed by a series of email conversations between a fictional character and the fictional construct of the author, Seth Johnson. Seth is nearing the end of his last semester in an English graduate program and will be returning to work in South Texas, and his old logging buddy, Don Bush, is eager for his friend to join him once again on the oil rigs.

Abstract (sommario):

This study explores the experiences of men who are nurses in Aotearoa New Zealand. Utilising discourse analysis a social constructionist reading of men, masculinity and nursing is provided to offer an alternative reading to much of the extant literature with respect to men in nursing. The study draws upon a number of different sources of "text", including over 600 written works, two films and interviews with eighteen men who currently are, have been or are intending to be, nurses. Drawing primarily upon the "literary" textual sources a number of themes were identified for further exploration in interview with the coresearchers. These themes were the construction of masculinity, the construction of images of the nurse, the reaction to men who are nurses, sexuality issues, career development, and men and caring. The findings of this thesis reveal that the literature pertaining to men in nursing is replete with paradox and contradiction and fails to adequately account for the male experience. It is argued that the images and arguments provided in the literature with respect to men in nursing are based on out-of-date models and understandings of gender relations, masculinity and nursing. It is suggested that rather than enjoying patriarchal privilege, men who enter nursing must contend with being constructed as both an inferior man and inferior nurse. Their careers are not, as is alleged in the literature, based on developing "islands of masculinity" and male privilege, nor upon the avoidance of the emotional labour of nursing but reflect a belief that career is one way of doing care. It is argued in this work that men in nursing have fewer "taken-as-givens" upon which to base work and that they work to develop trusting relationships with their patients that are based on communication and empathy within a context defined by the patients' circumstances.

The object of the present study was to determine whether there was a difference in the flux through two different metabolic pathways, the purine salvage pathway and the urea cycle, in skin fibroblasts from three species. A double label approach was adopted to measure the incorporation of the purine bases, hypoxanthine and adenine, and the amino acids, citrulline and arginine in acid precipitable material. Before examining the between species variation it was necessary to examine different levels of possible variation such as the variation between individuals from each species, the variation between separate experiments and the replication error within experiments. Eight individuals from each of three species, bUffalo, human, and rhinoceros were examined with the labelled purine bases. Skin fibroblasts from four humans and eight rhinoceros individuals were also examined over varying passage numbers until the fibroblasts senesced, to determine the effect of ageing on the uptake of hypoxanthine and adenine. The same four human fibroblast cultures were transformed with a transforming virus and examined to see the effects of transformation on the uptake of the purine bases, these transformed fibroblasts were compared with previously transformed rhinoceros fibroblasts. The uptake of labelled citrulline and arginine was also examined in three individuals from each of the three species. The major part of variation throughout the study was found to be at the between experiment level, despite stringently controlled conditions. This between experiment variation obscured any variation found within individuals from each species. In spite of this major between - experiment variation, the results showed that there was significant variation between the three species in the uptake of hypoxanthine. Adenine uptake was similar in the buffalo and human, but was significantly different between both these species and the rhinoceros. citrulline uptake showed no variation between the three species, whereas arginine showed a significant variation between the rhinoceros and the other two species. Buffalo and human showed no significant variation in arginine uptake. There was a significant increase in the uptake of hypoxanthine and adenine in transformed fibroblasts relative to untransformed fibroblasts. As a consequence of the significant between-experiment variation demonstrated in this study, it is apparent that great care must be taken to standardize the conditions when using a double label approach, especially if the assay is to be used for the diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism.

I detta arbeta har jag försökt ta reda på hur olika F-3 lärare arbetar för att stimulera elevernas taluppfattning i matematik. För att få en inblick i detta så ställde jag mig frågorna: Hur definierar lärare vad taluppfattning innebär? Vilka arbetssätt använder lärare för att stimulera elevernas taluppfattning? och vilka svårigheter kan finnas? För att få svar på dessa frågor så intervjuade jag sex olika lärare som arbetade i F-3. Resultatet jag fick fram hade både likheter och skillnader. Alla lärare definierade dock taluppfattning på samma sätt, vilket var att man har en förståelse för tal. Något annat som alla lärare gjorde var att alla någon gång arbetade med grupparbeten för att stimulera elevernas taluppfattning, det som skiljde dem åt var hur ofta de gjorde det. På frågan som handlade om vilka svårigheter som kan finnas när man arbetar med taluppfattning var svaren olika, bland annat handlade de om hur man arbetar med andraspråkselever och att tillgodose alla elevernas enskilda behov.

Denna intervjustudie är utförd på lärare i årskurserna F-3 och har syftet att ta reda på lärares uppfattningar om hur man lär ut subtraktion på bästa sätt och vilka eventuella svårigheter det finns för elever att lära sig att räkna subtraktion. I studien framkom det att lärarna använde sig utav konkretiserande material när de lärde ut subtraktion. Man ansåg också att det var viktigt att koppla undervisningen till elevernas vardag och till något som intresserade dem. Lärarna i studien upplevde att många elever har svårt att förstå sambandet mellan subtraktion och addition. Samt att många elever har svårt att växla mellan olika strategier och se vilken som passade till just det talet, att elever ofta fastnar i ineffektiva metoder att räkna subtraktion som till exempel att räkna neråt och räkna alla.

The thesis is concerned with the interaction of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS) with other homeostatic systems in the peripheral circulation of man. The activity of the RAS and is relationship to vascular tissue ACE, the arginine-nitric oxide system, the kallikrein-kinin system and the sympathetic nervous system are examined. The activity of a new orally active angiotensin (AT₁) receptor antagonist and the regulation of AT receptors in response to low circulating angiotensin II concentrations are also assessed. Forearm venous occlusion plethysmography with mercury-in-silastic strain gauges was used to define the actions of drugs and investigational agents on forearm resistance vessels. Direct infusion of agents into the left brachial artery of hypertensive patients and normal volunteers using fine-gauge steel cannulas was employed. Information on the reproducibility of this technique is detailed. The effect of antihypertensive therapy on nitric oxide dependent vasorelaxation in untreated hypertensive patients is described. Forearm arterial responsiveness to increasing doses of intra-arterial L-NMMA was assessed before and after treatment with oral enalapril, amlodipine or placebo. Normalisation of blood pressure by these antihypertensive drugs with different modes of action returns L-NMMA mediated vasoconstriction to normal. A putative neuromodulary role for angiotensin II in adrenergic neurotransmission is examined. The vasoconstrictive action of intra-arterial angiotensin II in forearm resistance vessels, predilated with phentolamine was contrasted with its effect on nonadrenergically predilated resistance vessels, with an equivalent dose of sodium nitroprusside.

Destinationer attraherar konsumenter och besökare på olika sätt. En strategi för att skapa unicitet och stå ut i mängden av destinationer en resenär har att välja mellan är att skapa ett destinationsvarumärke. Detta varumärke hjälper destinationen i dess arbete att skapa en relation till tidigare och nya besökare. Likväl som att varumärket är viktigt för lokala aktörer genom att det skapar en känsla av platsen och ökar värdet av lokala produkter. Men för att nå ut till gästen behöver destinationen genomföra något som kallas branding, vilket innebär att marknadsföra vad destinationen har att erbjuda i form av aktiviteter och upplevelser. En viktig faktor är att skapa en känsla och koppling mellan besökaren och destinationen. För att följa en destinations utveckling samt trender i världen behövs ibland en rebranding genomföras för platser, destinationer och regioner. Detta för att behålla eller skapa en konkurrenskraft mot konkurrerande destinationer. Det övergripande syftet med denna studie är att öka kunskapen om hur de lokala intressenterna spelar roll i framgången för ett nytt destinationsvarumärke. Ett annat syfte är att undersöka vad som uppstår för besöksnäringen när en destination väljer att byta samt förlänga dess destinationsvarumärke. För att uppnå syftet ska en fallstudie genomföras som undersöker hur besöksnäringen använder sig av Östersunds destinationsvarumärke och deras känsla kring rebrandingen som skett. Studien syftar också på att skapa en förståelse för hur besöksnäringen ställer sig mot detta och vad deras uppfattningar är gällande bytet. Samt vad besöksnäringen anser om det nya destinationsvarumärket och hur de har varit delaktiga i framtagandet. Genom ett strategiskt urval har intervjuer med besöksnäring och människor involverade i framtagandet av det nya destinationsvarumärket genomförts. Resultatet tyder på att besöksnäring och lokalbefolkning spelar en viktig roll i framgångarna för ett destinationsvarumärke.

My thesis closely analyzes the shi poetry of the Song dynasty philosopher Zhu Xi (1130-1200). I look at its deep structure, especially the tensions embedded therein between literature and philosophy, and between his inner mind and the external world, manifested in ways different from what he taught in his philosophical works. Although his poetry itself is not considered to be aesthetically outstanding, I suggest that it is crucial to a better understanding of the evolution of Zhu’s philosophical project on the relationship between humans and the natural world. Zhu Xi wanted to establish and defend a coherent and practical self-cultivation theory, which would enable people to recognize the dao through daily experiences. Nevertheless, in his poetry production, he was facing a long-entrenched influential poetic tradition with its emphasis on the outer world described by embellished words and spontaneous overflow of emotions, while leaving an open end for the meanings or less discriminatively appealing to the Daoist or Buddhist idea of transcendence, the logic of which fundamentally contradicts that of daoxue construction. This made it impossible to achieve the dao in a this-worldly fashion. The contradiction had to be reconciled by Zhu Xi in his poems, an issue that he actually wrestled with throughout his life. Consequently, the style of Zhu Xi’s poetry was differentiated from both that of other Neo-Confucians and indeed that of any other poets in Chinese history. In his poetic texts, the tension between the outer world, inner emotions and philosophical inclination is more intensified, and the exploration of the relationship between man and nature more focused and conscious. In this thesis, I present an aesthetic world of Zhu Xi beyond all his ambiguous philosophical discussions, unfavorable comments on poetry, and his profoundly contradictory attitudes towards versifying.

The competition in the manufacturing industry has never been higher. Owing to the technological changes and advancements in the market, readily available data is no longer a thing of the past. Numerous studies have discussed the impact of industry 4.0, digital transformation as well as better production planning methods in the manufacturing industry. The Mass-Manufacturing industry, in specific, has gained efficiency levels in production that were previously unimaginable. Industry 4.0 has been discussed as the ‘next big thing’ in the manufacturing context. In fact, it is seen as a necessity for manufacturing companies to stay competitive. However, efficient production planning methodologies are a preliminary requirement in order to successfully adopt the new manufacturing paradigms. The Engineering-to-order (ETO) industry is still widely unexplored by the academia ETO industries, barely have any production planning methodologies to rely on owing to their complex production processes and high reliance on manual-labour. Regression techniques have repeatedly been used in the production planning context. Considering its statistical prowess, it is no surprise that even the newer machine-learning techniques are based on regression. Considering its success in the mass-manufacturing industry for production planning, is it possible that its usage in the ETO industry might lead to the same results? This thesis involves a case study that was performed at an electrical transformer manufacturing plant in Sweden. After understanding the several operations that are performed in the production process, regression techniques are employed to estimate man-hours. The results from the study reconfirm the statistical prowess of regression and show the possibility of using regression in order to estimate man-hours in the ETO industry. In addition, several factors that can affect successful adoption of this tool in the production planning context are discussed. It is hoped that this study will lay the foundation for better production planning methodologies for the ETO industries in the future which might subsequently result in more data-driven decision making rather than instincts.

The purpose of this study was to describe the possibility of implementing a lacto-ovo-vegetarian and organic diet in Eskilstuna municipality’s public preschool. Furthermore the purpose was to identify and describe the most important components involved in the implementation and their influence in the process. The methods used were a survey based on a literature study. This study includes general information about meat production and consumption and also the use of pesticides in farming. It also brings up the environmental and health effects caused by the previously mentioned areas. The effects caused by meat production and consumption are, among others, greenhouse gas emissions and increased risk of some forms of cancer. The effects of pesticides are not fully stated but present studies indicate that the effects, especially regarding the environment, are negative. The study then narrows and describes the situation and organization in Eskilstuna municipality and finally describes the possible implementation process. The conclusion of the study was that an implementation is possible and a needed step towards a reduction of negative environmental and health impact. Learned habits that are created in an early age can act as a base for present and future challenges. Children will become the consumers of the future. An organic and lacto-ovo-vegetarian diet reduces the amount of antropogenic distributed compounds and greenhouse gases to the environment and can function as an instrument towards the achievement of the Swedish Environmental Objectives. Goals that are set by Eskilstuna municipality can also be favored by an implementation of the suggested diet in the public preschool.

Sammanfattning Att ta hand om äldre och sjuka i samhället har traditionellt sett varit kvinnors ansvar vilket har medfört att arbetet inom vården länge varit ett kvinnodominerat yrke men att det görs fler insatser för att mängden män ska öka inom vården. Uppsatsens syfte är att undersöka vilka attityder och förväntningar som den manlige undersköterskan respektive vårdbiträdet möter i sin yrkesroll. För att ta reda på detta genomförde jag sex kvalitativa intervjuer med manliga vårdbiträden respektive undersköterskor. Studien bygger på litterära teorier och forskning om bland annat genus och andra könsrelaterade teorier av stor mening för ämnet. Frågeområden som har behandlats i studien omfattar bland annat om hur det eventuellt kan kännas av att bemötas annorlunda samt om det finns möjliga nackdelar eller fördelar med att vara i minoritet på respektive arbetsplats. I studien har det framkommit att informanterna mött båda positiva och negativa synpunkter och bemötande från sin omgivning, brukarna och kollegor. Något annat som framkom i studien är att männen får en helt annan synlighet riktad mot sig då de befinner sig i minoritet. Synligheten upplevs som både positiv och negativ hos respondenterna men att de i största möjliga mån försöker göra det till deras fördel. Något annat som denna studie visar är bland annat att det finns vissa fördomar hos människor idag om vad som anses vara ett lämpligt yrke för en man respektive en kvinna.

This essay is a study of the film and novelization of the story of King Kong from the 1930’s. The aims of this paper are to analyze ways in which the character Kong represents the stereotypical image of the black male that existed in American society in 1930 by applying theories of masculinity and ethnicity and how they combined make Kong a representation of an Other. In order to study the construction of Kong as an Other an analysis of the film and a close reading of selected passages of the novelization were made in combination with the theories. Masculinity and ethnicity are studied in terms of how they create Kong’s otherness, casting him as a metaphor of a black male. The conclusion is that the construction of Kong’s ethnicity and masculinity makes him a metaphor of the stereotype of the black male that existed in the American society of the 1930s, i.e. an Other. The conclusion is based on how the contrast is portrayed between Kong and the main characters, the fact that he is a god of the black natives of his island, and how the novelization literally describes Kong as black (and the only black character) in the fictional representation of the hegemonic white city New York.

Syftet med denna studie var att ta reda på hur en skolklass och deras lärare upplevde ämnet samhällskunskap, vad de tyckte var det roligaste och tråkigaste, viktigaste och minst viktiga inom samhällskunskap. Studien baserades på en kvalitativ metod och grundade sig på intervjuer med 20 elever och deras lärare i samhällskunskap. Eleverna intervjuades i grupper om fyra och läraren intervjuades enskilt. Intervjuerna analyserades enskilt och sedan jämfört med varandra. Resultatet visade att det fanns en gemensam, positiv syn på samhällskunskapsämnet bland eleverna och läraren. Både elever och läraren ansåg att samhällskunskap var ett av de viktigaste ämnena i grundskolan och upplevde samhällskunskapsämnet som relevant och elevnära. Studien visade även att fostransuppdraget tydliggjordes inom ämnet samhällskunskap vilket både elever och lärare uttryckt.

This qualitative study "It’s all about catching the possibilities” by Erica Mogel and Josefine Ekenstein investigates the reasons why the respondents continue to travel on backpacker trips and how they experience personal development in connection with travelling. The empirical material was collected through interviews where the interviews were formulated through two questions that were based on the theoretical framework used in the study. The theoretical frameworks used are Pearce’s (2005) Travel Career Ladder and theories of identity creation by Giddens (1997) and Durkheim. Finally, the most frequent driving forces are presented to the repeated backpacking as well as how the individual experiences developing during the trips. The study reveals that personal development in connection with travelling can be manifested in many different ways. The greatest development among the interviewees in this study has taken place socially. The main motives for continued travel were to find a sense of freedom that the interviewees thought could only be experienced when travelling. The interviewee’s premises at home enabled this type of recurring travelling.
Denna kvalitativa studie “Det gäller att passa på när man kan” av Erica Mogel och Josefine Ekenstein undersöker motiven till varför intervjupersonerna fortsätter att åka på backpackerresor samt hur de upplever personlig utveckling i samband med resorna. Det empiriska materialet samlades in genom intervjuer där intervjuguiden tagits fram via två frågeställningar som skapats utifrån de teoretiska ramverk som använts i studien. De teoretiska ramverken som använts är Pearce (2005) Travel Career Ladder samt teorier om identitetsskapande av Giddens (1997) och Durkheim. Avslutningsvis presenteras de mest återkommande drivkrafterna till det upprepande backpackerresandet samt hur individen upplever sig utvecklas under resorna. Studien kommer fram till att den personliga utvecklingen kan visa sig på många olika sätt men att den största utvecklingen sker socialt. De främsta motiven till fortsatt resande var att finna en frihetskänsla som intervjupersonerna menade endast kunde upplevas på resande fot. Intervjupersoneras förutsättningar hemma möjliggjorde denna typ av återkommande resande.

Law controls our everyday. It regulates our lives. It tells us what is and is not acceptable behaviour, it confers and protects our rights, and it punishes us for our indiscretions. But law does much more than this. It creates normative standards which shape the way people are treated and the way that we relate to each other and to society generally. The law defines people. It constructs identity. And it creates the other. This is a legacy of positivisms insistence on identifying that which is inside law, and so accorded legitimacy, and that which is not. That which does not conform to laws constructed standards and values is identified as other and marginalised and silenced. In this thesis, I demonstrate the way that the law constructs other, in particular, the Aboriginal other. I consider the way that Aborigines have been defined by the law to show the consequences that this has had for Aboriginal people beyond the purely legal. I argue that laws construction of Aboriginality has contributed to the marginalisation of Aboriginal people and their exclusion from many aspects of the legal and the social, and that it has silenced them within the dominant domain, denying them the ability to challenge the wrongs perpetrated against them. I examine these issues through the medium of literature. I argue that literatures contribution to exposing, critiquing and challenging laws construction of other is invaluable. It informs the reader about the way that the law has treated Aboriginal people and, more generally, about the structures and limitations of our positivist legal system. It thereby contributes to the communitys perception and understanding of the way the law works, and the impact that it has on the lives of its subjects. Perhaps most importantly, it also educates towards social change and reform.

Att vara förälder är en del av vardagen i dagens samhälle, denna studie har utgått ifrån normer och ideal om föräldraskap och moderskap. Tankar om hur en mamma ska eller borde vara för att vara en ”bra” mamma är ständigt närvarande. Sju kvinnor i åldern 24–34 med ett barn var i undantag från en kvinna som hade två barn har blivit intervjuade om hur de ser på sitt moderskap och hur de resonerar kring normer och ideal om just moderskap. Studiens fokus har lagts på hur kvinnorna talar om moderskapet och hur depositionerar sig och identifierar sig inom diskursen moderskap. Med hjälp av diskursanalys och diskurspsykologi har kvinnornas tal och subjektspositioner framkommit i studien. Kvinnorna har diskuterat det naturliga moderskapet, föreställningarna om vad en förälder är samt uppfostran och fostran av sina barn. Kvinnorna har tydligt intagit positionen mamma i alla diskussioner och situationer, de finner det naturligt att inta positionen som mamma. De har även visat hur moderskapet är något som de prioriterar i första hand samt att de trycker undan andra identiteter förutom sin mammaroll.

Denna studie syftar till att undersöka animationers påverkan på en användares förståelse angående ett ämne hen saknar tidigare kunskaper om. Vad som även undersöktes är huruvida rörlig media är mer engagerande än statisk text och om en informativ film kan väcka engagemang hos en vuxen användare . En förstudie utfördes för att undersöka uppfattningen om animerad film som informationskälla samt den nuvarande kunskapsnivån om det valda ämnet, grafisk design. Detta följdes av en designprocess där en animerad film samt en statisk text togs fram. Med den animerade filmen klar utfördes en kvalitativ värdering bestående av enskilda intervjuer samt en gruppintervju med enkäter. Resultatet av värderingen visade att engagemanget var högre för den informativa animationen framför den statiska texten. Slutsatsen som kunde dras av studien är att informativ animation kan väcka ett större engagemang och förståelse än statisk text hos en vuxen användare, men att det även finns individuella skillnader.

This dissertation studies Second World War ‘sites of memory’ in the islands of Jersey, Orkney and the Isle of Man, to determine if each island celebrates the war’s events as Britain does, or if they have charted their own mnemonic course. It builds on the work of Angus Calder, Malcolm Smith, and Mark Connelly, who have explored how popular conception of the Second World War in Britain has been structured around a certain set of commemorative motifs, most of which centre on Winston Churchill and the events of 1940. The British war narrative is now commonly referred to as the ‘Churchillian paradigm’ or ‘finest-hour myth’, and continues to be the driving force in commemoration and memorialization on the British mainland. The three islands in this study are culturally and historically distinct from Britain, and each has strong notions of its own ‘island identity’. Each also possesses a tangential and divisive domestic experience of war, one which is often minimized in the iconography of the Churchillian paradigm. Jersey was occupied by Nazi Germany from 1940 to 1945, Orkney was home to several thousand Italian POWs who built important infrastructure in the island, and the Isle of Man was home to 14,000 German, Finnish, Japanese, and Italian internees in what one critic has called ‘a bespattered page’ in the nation’s history. By examining ‘sites of memory’— museums, heritage sites, commemorations, celebrations, philately, and use of public space—this dissertation shows that each island simultaneously accepts and rejects elements of the finest-hour myth in their collective memory. Each island displays its unique (though often quite negative) heritage in order to differentiate itself from Britain, while at the same time allowing them, at certain events, to participate in celebration of Britain’s ‘greatest victory’. In this way, islands’ use ‘Britishness’ pragmatically, by basking in traditionally ‘British’ commemorative tropes, while at the same time deepening their own cultural and historical sovereignty.

Evenemang är ett turistiskt fenomen som handlar om att erbjuda en upplevelse som är något utöver det vanliga. I dagens samhälle tas upplevelsen tillvara på och används i marknadsföringssyfte där själva evenemanget kan marknadsföra ett budskap. Det finns möjligheter att utöka intresset hos besökarna genom att förstärka marknadsföringen före och efter ett evenemang, på så vis får budskapet en större genomslagskraft. Problemområdet i studien undersöks genom att behandla evenemanget Industrinatten som en fallstudie. Det empiriska materialet utgörs av kvalitativa intervjuer med respondenter från tidigare genomförda Industrinatten-evenemang i orterna Malmö, Sjuhärad och Östersund. Sekundärdata i form av enkätsammanställningar från de genomförda evenemangen utgör kompletterande material till intervjuundersökningarna. Evenemang skapas ofta med ett underliggande syfte och används mer och mer som ett verktyg för att marknadsföra en plats eller ett varumärke, något som kan benämnas som evenemangsmarknadsföring. Att förmedla ett budskap används många gånger på arbetsmarknadsmässor, som benämns vid MICE-evenemang (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions & Events). Resultatet jämförs respondenter emellan utifrån teman för att lyfta fram likheter och skillnader. De mest effektiva marknadsföringsmetoderna och strategierna lyfts sedan fram och utgör analysdelen där en ny modell har konstruerats utifrån respondenternas svar och det teoretiska ramverket. Studiens slutsats besvarar frågeställningarna och belyser flertalet metoder och strategier både före och efter ett evenemang som har visat sig vara effektiva vid evenemangsmarknadsföring. Studien är baserad på evenemanget Industrinatten och de metoder och strategier som presenteras är anpassade efter Industrinattens marknadsföring men ämnar dock även kunna appliceras på andra typer av evenemang.
Events as a tourism phenomenon are created to offer an experience that is something out of the ordinary. In today's society, the experience is taken advantage of and used for marketing purposes where the event itself can promote a message. There is scope for increasing visitor interest by strengthening the marketing before and after an event, thus increasing the impact of the message. The problem area of the study is examined by treating the Industrinatten event as a case study. The empirical material consists of qualitative interviews with respondents from previously conducted Industrinatten events in Malmö, Sjuhärad and Östersund. The secondary data consists of questionnaires from the previous completed events and constitutes of additional complementary material for the interview surveys. Events are often created with an underlying purpose and are today used more as a tool for promoting a site or brand, something that can be termed as event marketing. Communication a message is often used in labor market fairs, also known as MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions & Events) events. The result connects respondents with various themes to highlight similarities and differences. The most effective marketing methods and strategies are then highlighted which creates the analytical part where a new model has been constructed based on respondents' responses and the theoretical framework. The conclusion of the study answers the questions and highlights the majority of methods and strategies that before and after an event has been proven effective in event marketing. The study is based on the event Industrinatten and the methods and strategies presented are adapted to the marketing of the event but is also possible to apply in other types of events.

I inledningen till denna uppsats understryks det att mobbning är ett ofta förekommande problem ute i samhället och på våra skolor. Därför är det inte heller otänkbart att fenomenet skildras i filmer som skall lära grundskolelever om mobbning och på så sätt förebygga det. Syftet med denna studie är att undersöka hur mobbning skildras i dessa utbildningsfilmer menade att användas i samhällskunskapsundervisningen på grundskolan. Fortsättningsvis avser arbetet ta reda på hur fenomenet porträtteras och ifall mobbningen som skildras i filmerna kan knytas till utbildningsmålen och kunskapskraven för ämnet samhällskunskap. För att åstadkomma det använder sig uppsatsen därför av ett analyserande perspektiv för att kunna identifiera hur mobbning skildras, vad skildringarna syftar till och vilken didaktiska relevans för undervisning om mobbning som skildringarna innehar. Uppsatsen börjar med en redogörelse för hur olika forskare valt att definiera mobbning för att kunna ge en bra bild av fenomenet. Dessa definitionspunkter används sedan för att konstruera frågor att utgå ifrån när filmanalysen påbörjas. Efter att mobbningens olika delar har definierats sker en redogörelse av tidigare forskning och studiens metod. Därefter sker analysen av materialet och resultaten av analys presenteras och diskuteras utifrån uppsatsens frågeställningar. Studien avslutas med att presentera undersökningens slutsatser. Studiens resultat visar att mobbning är ett svårt fenomen att porträttera på ett tydligt sätt och att ifall filmer om mobbning skall kunna användas i samhällskunskapsundervisningen krävs en större och bredare tydlighet i skildringen av mobbning och även i motiveringen gällande kopplingen till ämnesplanen.

Syftet med rapporten är att undersöka hur tjänstekataloger kan användas för att i kommunal miljö underlätta arbetet med att utveckla verksamheten och i förlängningen skapa e-tjänster riktade mot medborgare.

Genom att utgå från tjänsteteori, litteratur om kommunal verksamhet och e-government samt teori kring interaktion skapas en grund att stå på gällande tjänsteorientering inom kommunal verksamhet. En hypotes byggs upp och jämförs sedan med resultatet av en intervjuserie.

En analys av de resultat som redovisats visar att alla de kommuner som medverkade redan idag i någon utsträckning arbetar tjänsteorienterat. Analysen visar även att både litteraturstudien och intervjuserien pekar på att tjänsteorientering kan bidra med struktur till arbetet med e-government inom kommunal verksamhet.

Slutligen sammanställs en modell för kommunala e-tjänster baserad på tjänsteteori och den kommunala verksamhetens egenheter. En samling egenskaper för dels tjänster och dels e-tjänster presenteras även för att visa på vilka behov som finns. Ett antal utvärderingsmetoder och ett antal mätetal för både tjänster och e-tjänster finns också presenterade.

Slutsatsernas innehåll visar vikten av att matcha kommunernas verksamhet mot medborgarnas kärnbehov samt kommunernas förutsättningar för att möta medborgarnas utökade behov. När det gäller medborgarnas kärnbehov visar slutsatserna att man från kommunhåll måste fokusera på vad som levereras medan medborgarnas utökade behov handlar om tillgänglighet, effektivitet och hur leveransen ska ske. Slutsatserna visar även på vikten av att erbjuda en valmöjlighet mellan olika gränssnitt. Slutligen presenteras effektmål som ett sätt att utvärdera hela tjänster.

In this report service orientation in the development of municipal operations is explored. The purpose of the report is to explore the possible benefits of using service catalogues in municipal settings with regard to the development of operations and the creation of e-services aimed at citizens.

Starting from service theory, literature on municipal operations and e-government, and interaction theory a foundation is built for building municipal service orientation theory. A hypothesis is built upon this theory foundation and is complemented with a series of interviews.

Analysis of the results shows that all the organizations represented in the study already work service oriented. The analysis also shows that service orientation in municipal operations can contribute to structuring the development of municipal e-government.

In the end, a model of municipal e-services based on service theory and the nature of municipal operations is put together. A set of properties of services and e-services is introduced to show the requirements on municipal e-services. A number of evaluation techniques and metrics for both services and e-services are presented.

The conclusions state the importance of matching the citizens’ core needs with the municipal organization and the extended needs of the citizens with the municipal organization’s prerequisites. Regarding the core needs of the citizens, the conclusions show that the municipal organization must focus on what is delivered, whereas the extended needs are all about availability, efficiency, and how the service is delivered. The conclusions also show the importance of offering a choice of several interfaces. Lastly effect goals are presented as a way of measuring entire services.

Abstract (sommario):

Som ett led i att förbättra kvaliteten på matematikundervisning fokuserar den senaste versionen av läroplanen på förmågor som elever ska ges möjlighet att utveckla. Kommunikationsförmågan är en av dessa som nämns i styrdokumenten och som denna studie kommer att behandla. Våra erfarenheter, likväl som Skolinspektionen, har visat att alla lärare inte planerar och undervisar enligt styrdokumenten. Denna studie kommer därför att undersöka hur lärare definierar kommunikationsförmågan i matematikämnet samt vilka metoder och arbetssätt de låter eleverna använda för att utveckla denna förmåga. Genom intervjuer och observationer av matematiklektioner ska studien ge en bild av hur lärare i årskurs 4-6 tänker och arbetar för att utveckla just kommunikationsförmågan. Resultatet av detta visar att de intervjuade lärarnas definition av kommunikationsförmågan är relativt likvärdiga, det handlar om att prata matematik. Däremot skiljer det sig hur de väljer att arbeta med att låta eleverna utveckla förmågan. De metoder som väljs för att fokusera på just kommunikationsförmågan är främst problemlösning i par eller grupp, men också genomgångar och gemensamma diskussioner. Resultatet i denna studie visar även att få av lärarna nämner eller tillämpar kommunikation via skrift. Inte förrän de har tänkt igenom och analyserat förmågan på ett djupare plan beskriver de att även en skriftlig version är viktig att beakta.

Abstract (sommario):

Denna studie är en litteraturöversikt där elevers begrepps- och procedurkunskaper om bestämda integraler samt hur undervisning bör utformas för att elever ska få förutsättningar att utveckla dessa kunskaper undersöks. Resultatet diskuteras i relation till framförallt Hiebert och Lefevres definitioner och beskrivningar om dessa kunskapsformer. Studien visar att elevers begreppskunskap är bristande och att de har svårt att se de relationer som finns mellan begreppet bestämd integral och andra närbesläktade begrepp så som area, summation och analysens huvudsats. Elever kan därför inte ge en meningsfull förklaring av den bestämda integralens innebörd. Däremot kan elever genomföra grundläggande beräkningar och besitter en typ av procedurkunskap där både input och output består av symboler. Elever har däremot svårare att hantera problemlösningsuppgifter där den bestämda integralen inte är utskriven. För att utveckla elevers begreppskunskap bör undervisningen utformas för att de ska kunna utveckla relationer mellan olika informationsenheter, exempelvis genom att olika representationsformer och typer av exempel används. För att elever ska utveckla procedurkunskap bör problemlösningsuppgifter som leder till meningsfullt lärande användas.
