Abstract (sommario):
Ports and terminals open to prevailing winds can cause problems to moored ships with a high freeboard. Such ships, i.e. ship and berth mooring systems, have to deal with significant aerodynamic loads. This paper addresses the theoretical approach of the influence of aerodynamic loads on a mooring system for ship and investigates whether windscreens can reduce aerodynamic loads on ships in ports.

Abstract (sommario):
Data and information security makes information technology must be updated at all times. Along with the ever-changing information technology development, making information security is very important. Many attacks carried out by irresponsible people to attack the server. These attacks are often performed on open ports, which in turn will allow unauthorized and unauthorized people to easily control ports that have been entered. So to do security on computer network in overcoming attack on ports, one of them is by using Port knoking method. In order to avoid attacks carried out in the open port state a Port knoking method is used and set parameters for this computer device to have no open communication ports to enter, but the device is still accessible from the outside. So as to make people who do not have access rights do not have the opportunity to enter the ports that exist.

Abstract (sommario):
Existing classification of the Croatian seaports does not fit the level and meet the needs of the economic development of the Republic of Croatia, particularly after the Republic of Croatia joined the European Union. Equalizing public service offered by a port with the purpose of the port itself (general purpose – port open for public traffic, special purpose – port not open for public traffic) limits the economic development and aggravates the implementation of the basic market policies of the EU. Therefore, modernisation of the basic classification of ports in the Croatian legislation is suggested. Basic categorization of ports should be as follows: public service ports, private service ports and private ports for private needs of an entrepreneur.

Abstract (sommario):
Countries around the world have tightened their border controls in response to the spread of COVID-19. Consequently, seafarers are prohibited from boarding or leaving ships at most ports, with few exceptions. This situation means that seafarers are highly likely to serve onboard vessels beyond their contracted shifts. Most seafarers are prone to depression because they have to spend long periods at sea away from family and friends, and, thus, banning crew changes will put their mental health further at risk. This will increase the likelihood of maritime accidents, thus jeopardizing global supply chains and ultimately exacerbating current hardships. To tackle this emergency, the International Maritime Organization and the European Commission have called on governments to coordinate efforts to designate ports for crew changes during the pandemic. This study aims to solve the crew change problem by using an integer linear programming model. In the sensitivity analysis section, we find that the number of opening ports for crew changes and the cost of crew changes decrease when the cost of opening ports increases. The results show governments will not invest in opening more ports when the cost of opening ports increases. However, the penalty increases when the number of open ports decreases, and the cost of opening ports increases. As the number of crew changes is decreasing, this leads to the penalty increasing, when the number of open ports decreases.

Abstract (sommario):
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has eight county port authorities operating since 1999, which manage a total of 101 ports open for public transport, 27 of which are of county importance and 74 ports are of local importance. The focus of this article is directed on county ports communal areas open for public transport, i.e. on communal berths in such ports. The article processes a number of communal berths managed by each county port authority in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, including the amount of compensation for such moorings. The number of requests for communal berths for each of the eight county port authorities was collected by field research to compare the current capacity with the required capacity of communal moorings. The problems which occur during the use of communal berths and possible solutions to those problems will also be presented in the article.

Abstract (sommario):
Global warming has accelerated the melting of Arctic sea ice, providing favorable conditions for Arctic shipping. Arctic ports are gaining prominence in shipping networks and international trade. Accessibility is a key indicator of port facilitation, and identifying trends in Arctic port accessibility holds significance for Arctic route planning and port development. To achieve this, this paper develops a modeling framework for assessing the accessibility of Arctic ports. First, we utilize the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6) model to predict sea ice conditions and quantify the navigation risk for open water (OW) vessels and Arc4 ice-class (Arc4) vessels during the summer months of 2030–2050. The A-star (A*) algorithm is then used to plan the vessel’s shortest route while avoiding high-risk waters. Finally, changes in the accessibility of Arctic ports are calculated by using an improved gravity model. The framework is applied for the quantitative analysis of the accessibility of Chinese coastal ports to Arctic ports. The results indicate that accessibility to Arctic ports will gradually increase for all Chinese ports in the future, with the port of Shanghai continuing to maintain its prominence under the trend of melting sea ice.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper gives an overview of the legal regulations on reporting formalities for ships arriving in and/or departing from ports, both on international and EU level, as well as about the solutions in the Republic of Croatia. In particular, there are analyzed the achievements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which represent the base for further action. The European Union has recognized the importance of an efficient and harmonized procedure for ships arriving in and/or departing from ports by adopting a range of legal instruments aimed at reducing administrative barriers for ships arriving in and/or departing from European ports. This paper especially analyzes the solutions of Directive 2010/65/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the official application procedure on reporting formalities for ships arriving in and/or departing from the Member States ports and repealing Directive 2002/6/EC. It also analyses Regulation (EU) 2019/1239 of the European Parliament and of the Council on establishing a European Maritime Single Window environment and repealing Directive 2010/65/EU. The reasons for the adoption of Regulation (EU) 2019/1239 shall be specifically explained. In the last part of the paper, the authors review the achievements of the Republic of Croatia in implementing measures for establishing a single national Window. By comparing the solutions contained in EU regulations and Croatian by-laws, the authors point to the existence of non-compliance and to the need for further action.

Abstract (sommario):
Nautical tourism ports make an open, dynamic and complex system which has been rapidly evolving; this is the reason why the development of this system requires continual monitoring and research. The existing models and development plans concerning nautical tourism ports donot provide for a systematic qualitative and quantitative development of nautical tourism, thus contributing to economical inefficiency likely to cause even ecological imbalance. The more so if nautical ports are regarded as business subjects by whom the concept of sustainable development is declaratively acceptable. For this reason, this paper presents in a systematic and clear way the results of the research based on an overall analysis and evaluation of nautical tourism ports’ position and development plans. On the basis of the results obtained, the paper presents a model of sustainable development of nautical tourism ports whereby the authors propose to redefine the approach to planning the development of nautical tourism and particularly to creating the offer and to understanding the relationship between economic development and environmental protection.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractMicrofluidic devices can provide unique control over both the chemoattractant gradient and the migration environment of the cells. Our work incorporates laser-machined micro and nanofluidic channels into bulk fused silica and cover slip-sized silica wafers. We have designed “open” chemotaxis devices that produce passive chemoattractant gradients without an external micropipette system. Since the migration area is unobstructed, cells can be easily loaded and strategically placed into the devices with a standard micropipette. The reusable monolithic glass devices have integral ports that can generate multiple gradients in a single experiment. We also used cover slip microfluidics for chemotaxis assays. Passive gradients elicited from these cover slips could be readily adapted for high throughput chemotaxis assays. We have also demonstrated for the first time that cells can be recruited into cover slip ports eliciting passive chemoattractant gradients. This proves, in principle, that intravital cover slip configurations could deliver controlled amounts of drugs, chemicals, or pathogens as well as recruit cells for proteomic or histological analysis in living animals while under microscopic observation. Intravital cover slip fluidics will create a new paradigm for in vivo observation of biological processes.

Abstract (sommario):
In the specific case of maritime transport, one of the most notable examples of digitalization is smart ports. Their positive impact on the supply chain is enabling processes to be optimized through smarter production. In the case of Spain, the Spanish public entity Puertos del Estado (Puertos del Estado is a public business entity dependent on the Spanish Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda, with overall responsibility for the entire state-owned port system.) has launched Ports 4.0, the largest open innovation fund for the logistics-port ecosystem. It is therefore necessary to know the point of digitalization in which the Spanish ports are and the present scenario in which they develop their activity. For this purpose, a SWOT analysis (Strengths-Weaknesses-Opportunities-Threats analysis) is proposed, which is an ideal tool to make a reliable diagnosis of the port system in relation to a certain project before which we wish to make a strategic decision, in this case digitalization, in order to establish a concrete action plan in this regard. This should be the first step towards developing the Ports 4.0 project. The main conclusion of the analysis is that Spanish ports are currently at a medium high level of digitalization, and that they continue to update and innovate in order to be increasingly competitive in this market, despite the fact that there is still a long way to go in digitalization. The main challenge for Spanish ports is that technology alone is not useful enough to reach Ports 4.0 status; the technology also needs to be used in an integrated, open and joint way by all the agents of the port community, which is one of the main handicaps at present.

Abstract (sommario):
The seiche motion induced in a partially open harbour is uniquely determined by the standing wave pattern formed in the outside ocean. The variable location and size of the coupling makes the problem essentially three-dimensional. Existing potential theory has been extended, for the case of a simple rectangular port, to simulate ocean conditions by approximating the open ocean by another rectangular basin of large size. The theoretical problem then reduces to solving the Neunan problem for the two-dimensional Helmholtz equation V*F + K*F m o for a polygonal contour. The finite dimensional approximation of an infinite domain is, however, unsatisfactory at least from the analytical point of view. This difficulty has been removed, in this paper, by using elliptic-cylindrical co-ordinates for the semi-infinite domain in which the perturbation potential has been expanded in terms periodic Mathieu functions. These theoretical developments have been verified by a series of numerical calculations and experimental studies.

Background. The aim of our study is to compare the efficacy of laparoscopic splenectomy (LS) between enlarged spleens and normal sized spleens.Methods. From June 2006 to September 2012, 50 patients underwent LS. The patients consisted of 24 girls and 26 boys with the mean age of 8.64 years (1–18). The patients are divided into two groups according to spleen’s longitudinal length on the ultrasonography. Group I consisted of the normal sized spleens; Group II consisted of spleens that are exceeding the upper limit. Groups are compared in terms of number of ports, operative time, rate of conversion to open procedure, and length of hospital stay.Results. The mean number of ports was 3.27 and 3.46, the mean length of the operation was 116.36 min and 132.17 min, rate of conversion to open procedure was 9.09% and 10.25%, and the mean length of hospital stay was 3.36 days and 3.23 days, respectively, in Group I and Group II. Although there is an increase in the number of the ports, the operative time, rate of conversion to open procedure, and the length of hospital stay, the difference was not significant between groups (P>0.05).Conclusion. LS is safe and effective in enlarged spleens as well as normal sized spleens.

Abstract (sommario):
Wave penetration is a challenge for port engineers as it governs vessels' safe sailing and mooring and unequivocally regulates the handling of port operations. A complete way to describe this phenomenon is by a physical scale model. However, this approach can be time consuming and expensive, therefore the use of a numerical model is a valid alternative. In this study, wave penetration is simulated with the non-hydrostatic model SWASH (Zijlema, 2011). To validate the model, the output of an open benchmark dataset of physical scale model tests (Van der Ven, 2018) is used. This study evaluates to what degree SWASH models correctly simulate wave penetration per wave process, separately in simplified models and in combination in the full harbour layout, to identify their role in the model accuracy.Recorded Presentation from the vICCE (YouTube Link): https://youtu.be/Y8ds-sW4VIQ

Abstract (sommario):
Globalization and increased free trade between continents have led to the need to adapt port management to changes and opportunities that occurred. Ports under public administration have had to identify strategies to deal with more aggressive regional or international competition. The opinion of governments of developing countries about improving port performance is more involvement of the private sector. Therefore, countries have understood the need to change over ports administration system from the "public interest" into "public/private interest" category. This paper attempts to highlight the importance of structural reform in the ports due to national markets open up to international trade and the need to integrate the port into the local or regional logistic chain.

Abstract (sommario):
The present work has as its theme, the concession policy and the general aspects of the ports. The methodology adopted in the formulation of this work was based on bibliographic research, through consultations with books, magazines, searching for manuals, treaties, articles published on the internet. In this sense, the general objective of this research seeks to present the development of the port system in Brazil. Thus, the specific objectives seek to present the history that surrounds the ports and their emergence, point out the types of existing ports as well as describe the Brazilian port system, address the main issues of the Brazilian port system and, finally, point out the legislative framework for development ports or operations. Finally, we understand the importance of such a theme, leaving the topic open, proposing that in the future a new bibliographic research should be carried out in order to contextualize the themes addressed here. Along with this new bibliographic review, it is suggested the development of a comparative case study between Brazilian ports, showing its importance and value for the Brazilian port economy.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract. The multi-port method for the measurement of the scattering parameters of multi-ports with the help of a vector network analyzer (VNA) with only two measurement ports is presented. For the measurements only two ports of the N-port device can be connected to the two ports of the VNA at a time. The remaining N-2 ports of the device under test (DUT) are connected to external terminations. As these external terminations might be mismatched, the measured scattering parameters depend on the reflective characteristics of the terminations. An error correction becomes necessary in order to calculate the effective scattering parameters of the DUT (Tippet and Speciale, 1982; Lu and Chu, 2003). In contrast to the correction method of Tippet and Speciale (1982), the multi-port method has the advantage, that the external terminations can be chosen arbitrarily. Thus, a realization as an open or short circuit is possible as well. Furthermore, the terminations can be unknown except for one, similar to self-calibration procedures of VNAs. This helps to improve the accuracy of the measurements, because the inconsistency problem due to a slightly erroneous knowledge of the frequency characteristics of the terminations can be eliminated.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction. Structural disproportions of the national economy of Ukraine cause a high level of dependency on goods export, which is mainly done through marine ports. Considering a high level of wear of fixed assets in the port infrastructure, there is a need for attracting additional financial resources for conducting modernization programs. This is proposed to achieve by intensifying transit shipping. Analysis of recent research and publications shows great relevance of the transit goods shipping subject as well as their role in generating greater cashflow for ports. The aim of the article is to develop proposals for attracting capital investment towards port infrastructure, while the the source of their financing is suggested to come from an increase of goods transit through Ukrainian ports. Мethods. The object of this article is to study marine ports of Ukraine and the state of sea transit shipping. Results. An analysis of the current state of transit goods shipping through Ukrainian marine ports is carried from both quantitive and qualitative aspects. Main problems undermining the utilization of the marine transport potential are determined. Proposals are given for increasing the volume of transit goods shipping. Conclusions. Ukrainian marine ports boast considerable underutilized potential for servicing additional volumes of transit freight. An effective employment of this potential will lead to an increase of ports profitability which, in turn, will open new possibilities for financing modernization programs and renewing fixed assets.

Abstract (sommario):
In the past, to get from one country to another, a long journey on a ship was required. Trade between countries was also done using ships, which transported cargo via shipping routes across the globe. Ports in specific countries accommodated trade, including in East Asia where many were opened as a result of unequal treaties with western powers. Treaty ports were often agreed after western powers such as the UK and nUS defeated military powers in China, Japan and Korea and terms favouring the successful nations were agreed. Foreigners would arrive into the treaty ports, and commodities such as restaurants, foreigners clubs, churches and racecourses were built for these new citizens. Ultimately, colonisation occurred, with areas in China, Japan and Korea being commandeered by Western ways of life. A team of researchers led by Professor An-Suk Son, Research Center for Non Written Cultural Materials, Kanagawa University, Japan, is looking at the open ports of East Asia, investigating the history and architecture of the Japanese consulate, banks, schools, hospitals and spinning companies. A key focus for the researchers is on buildings that were developed during the time of foreign settlement. Previous studies that have been done in this area have tended to focus on Shanghai in China, Yokohama in Japan and Incheon in Korea, and Son's research is innovative in that it uses new materials that have emerged in the years since, such as English newspapers, magazines, pictures, leaflets and photo books. The team also plants to build on previous studies to include places such as Qingdao and Guangzhou.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract One of the key challenges related to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic is preservation of employment and protecting staff who are working in port operations and struggling to keep ports operating for ship calls. These activities performed by port labour are deemed to be crucial for the EU and European ports, since 75% of the EU external trade and 30% of intra-EU transport goods are moved by waterborne transport. As a response to the global lockdown and the vulnerability of global supply chains, the majority of international organisations and maritime ports networks have shortlisted measures necessary to keep the severe effects of the lockdown to a minimum. One of the key measures identified is how to limit physical interaction. As an effect, millions of people and organisations across the globe have had to use and/or increase their deployment of digital technologies, such as digital documentation, tracing information systems and digital group-working platforms. Hence, blockchain and data-enabling systems have become to be recognised as a core element maintaining the uninterrupted flow of goods and services at ports. In pursuing uninterrupted trade and keeping ports open and running, this research paper addresses how the current situation afflicts the small and medium-sized ports located on the Baltic Sea which are argued to be critical actors of the port-centric logistics’ ecosystem. Given the topicality of this research and addressing the research gap, the authors suggest a conceptual capacity-building framework for port employees. This suggested framework is based on empirical insights: primary and secondary data collected from the project Connect2SmallPorts, part-financed by the Interreg South Baltic Programme 2014–2020 from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The conceptual framework aims towards a practical training programme dedicated to fill in the missing skills or expand the limited competence of human resources and ports’ capacity when adapting or advancing digitalisation in the ports’ ecosystems. In particular, specific areas of capacity building are addressed and individual solutions suggested to foster a digital transformation of ports. The conceptual training framework is designed as a training tool indicating opportunities to help ports upgrade their competences with the blockchain technology, and to advance their transportation, environmental and economic performance with improved digitalisation. For this purpose, the conducted research employed mixed methods and applied concepts and approaches based on the field of management. For example, the construct of absorptive capacity, organisational learning, transformation, resource-based view and the concept of dynamic capabilities are included in the ecosystem discourse and are linked with open innovation and service design. The research presented in this article provides both theoretical and practical contributions, in which the affected stakeholders can test and utilise the developed tool as well as transfer it to other regions.

Abstract (sommario):
An important process that began in many Mediterranean countries in the last century, after the end of the Second World War, concerns the displacement of a large part of the population from inland to coastal areas, expanding many existing cities and building new ones. Following this expansion, some existing ports were expanded, and many new ports were built, mainly for commercial and tourist purposes. This strong anthropogenic pressure has modified not only the landscape but also the coastal dynamics, and significant shoreline erosion processes have often been observed, even at considerable distances from the ports. This paper analyzes shoreline changes due to the construction of ports in Calabria, based on geomorphological factors and wave forcings. Calabria is a region of Southern Italy, on the Mediterranean Sea, that is characterized by geomorphological, climatic, and anthropic peculiarities. In addition, other important effects caused by the construction of ports were also analyzed, such as shoreline advancement updrift, construction of coastal protection structures, siltation, and anthropogenic pressure. The main finding of this analysis is that coastal morphology plays a key role in the extent of shoreline changes due to the construction of ports. In fact, the greatest shoreline retreats were observed downdrifts of ports built in straight coastal areas. Furthermore, this analysis highlights that there is no direct correlation between wave climate and shoreline changes near the examined ports. The analysis described in this paper may be of interest both to the scientific field and to the planning and management of coastal areas. Furthermore, it is based on open-access data and was carried out using free software such as QGIS, so it is easily replicable and applicable in any coastal context.

Abstract (sommario):
The applicability of crosswell electromagnetic (EM) tomography is limited when the boreholes are steel cased. Steel casing is typically eight orders of magnitude more conductive than the formations around the borehole. Consequently, the high frequency signals which are needed to resolve the formation conductivity distribution in the interwell region cannot be radiated or received by antennas inside the casing. Introduction of small insulating gaps in the casing eliminates these problems by creating ports where signals can exit and enter the casing, making the casing an electric bipole antenna. The gapped casing can be operated in a shorted‐port or open‐port mode. In the shorted‐port mode, the voltage is specified at a source port, and the current is measured at all the remaining shorted ports. In the open‐port mode, the current is specified at a source port, and the voltage is measured at all the remaining open ports. For high‐frequency shorted‐port operation, the effective length of the casing bipole antenna is determined by the skin depth in the formations surrounding the casing. For high‐frequency open‐port operation, the effective length of the casing bipole antenna is determined by the casing gap interval, provided that it is less than the formation skin depth. The open‐port mode is preferred. The interval between casing gaps is determined mainly by the well spacing. If the effective bipole length is proportional to the well spacing, the crosswell signal‐to‐noise ratio is approximately independent of the well spacing and the interwell resolution is approximately proportional to the well spacing at constant source input power. For large well spacings, gapped casing antennas outperform open‐hole tools. Steel‐cased wells completed or retrofitted with insulating gaps offer a stable, low‐cost, permanent set of electrodes to implement long‐term monitoring of petroleum reservoir fluid movements. Gapped casings offer a practical way to achieve high‐frequency, wide‐aperture EM tomographic datasets at large well spacings. Gapped casings can also be used for deep EM probing of the formations around a single well.

Abstract (sommario):
The gold-standard treatment for functional tumors is adrenalectomy, and the procedure can be either open or laparoscopic. Laparoscopic adrenalectomy (LA) is a minimally invasive technique designated for small–medium-sized adrenal tumors without vascular invasion. LA is routinely performed using three or four ports with the patient in sternal or lateral recumbency. The aim of the study was to evaluate the feasibility of LA with two ports in order to reduce invasiveness and improve patient recovery. In total, 16 dogs with adrenal tumors were included in the study and the two-port technique was performed. Adrenalectomy was performed based on the presence of hypercortisolism in thirteen cases, whereas, in three cases, adrenalectomy was performed in the absence of evidence of cortisol production. Thirteen cases were carcinomas and three were adenomas of the adrenal gland; furthermore, twelve were on the left side and four were on the right side. Capsule rupture occurred in five cases. After performing the technique in all cases, no additional ports or laparotomy conversion occurred. Based on the authors’ experience, laparoscopic adrenalectomy can be performed with two ports.

Abstract (sommario):
We performed robot-assisted thoracoscopic esophagectomy in lateral decubitus position (LDP) with camera rotation and manual hand control assignment to reproduce the visualization and manipulation of open esophagectomy or thoracoscopic esophagectomy in LDP. Four robotic ports and two 12 mm assistant ports were placed. The camera image for the operator was vertically and horizontally inverted by camera rotation to create an operative view similar to that achieved under open thoracotomy. We used a forward-oblique viewing endoscope with a 30° down-facing orientation. The mediastinal view was obtained by single lung ventilation, artificial pneumothorax by carbon dioxide insufflation, and trachea retraction by the assistant. The right and left hands were assigned to any combination of two out of the three arms depending on the situation. The remaining arm was used as an assistant to create an adequate surgical view. The robotic platform is useful to manage aortic injury by direct suturing.

Abstract (sommario):
During the communist era, the ports of Gdańsk and Gdynia were Poland’s window – and door – to the world. The merchant marine economy became increasingly important to the Polish state as its foreign-denominated debt grew in the 1970s, but Polish sailors posed challenges to the state’s control of space. Polish sailors travelled across political and ideological borders bringing goods – both declared and smuggled – into the ports of Poland from the outside. They provided key spatial connections and networks for the flow of goods and information into Poland. Polish sailors brought the open, connected and transgressive qualities of the ports into their cities. In doing so, sailors re-shaped the authorities’ notion of fixed and controllable urban spaces of Gdańsk and Gdynia into a dynamic movement of goods and peoples, a series of networks and relationships, and points linked to a broader, global web that was increasingly connecting the world.

Abstract (sommario):
Background. Although open Ramstedt's pyloromyotomy is the gold standard for the surgical management of infantile hypertrophic pyloric stenosis, laparoscopic pyloromyotomy has been found highly successful. Various factors, however, can affect the outcomes of surgical interventions in these patients. We observed a relationship between the number of ports used and outcome in patients undergoing laparoscopic pyloromyotomies. Methods. We retrospectively assessed the medical records of selected group of patients who underwent laparoscopic pyloromyotomy in our institution. Factors analyzed included operation time, length of hospital stay, postoperative complications, and time to postoperative full feeding. Results. We observed failure of myotomy in both two patients who underwent laparoscopic pyloromyotomy using only two working ports compared to successful myotomies in the remaining patients. Conclusion. Laparoscopy provides good results in terms of intraoperative exposure and cosmesis. However, standardized surgical technique with two working ports is advisable, and this can trigger further research to be ascertained.

Abstract (sommario):
Nowadays, merchant shipping is facing a new challenge in the context of COVID-19. The ships at sea may find themselves in need of immediate medical assistance relating to the crewmembers and/or passengers due to COVID-19. Besides, there is a problem with the change of ship crews in due time and their repatriation. Under international custom, coastal States keep their ports open for merchant shipping but may require the ship’s master to take appropriate action to prevent a threat of danger. In cases of failure or urgency, the coastal State can exercise its authority in taking responsive action appropriate to the threat. The article analyzes the main issue - how reasonable are the actions of states that close their ports to foreign vessels in the light of COVID-19. In this paper, the practice of foreign and Russian ports in the context of the COVID-19 is assessed.

Abstract (sommario):
The thousands of aristocratic emigrants from revolutionary France who found asylum in the independent German city city-state of Hamburg and the neighboring Danish city of Altona were not the only immigrants arriving in the neutral ports. Alongside these flamboyant newcomers, merchants, scholars, artisans, and others continued, as they had for decades, to come in pursuit of the economic opportunities denied them at home. With harbors on the Elbe River just downstream from the North Sea, the two cosmopolitan port cities flourished as wars and revolution roiled the rest of Europe. Diplomatically neutral and open to trade, these two cities opened their doors to newcomers from around the world. Over the decade, the aristocrats, who thought themselves cosmopolitan, tested their welcome in the prosperous ports with no native nobility. While most of the newcomers assimilated readily, contributing to the ports’ prosperity, the aristocrats left to reclaim what remained of their estates.

Abstract (sommario):
The opening of the service port on the Mikrotik router provides an opening for hackers to enter the Mikrotik service to access the router illegally. This research aimed to close certain ports that are gaps for hackers and uses port knocking and telegram bots. The Telegram bot was used as a message notification to managers in real-time to provide information that occurs when the vulnerability scanning process is carried out to find and map weaknesses in the network system. Searching for weaknesses also includes looking for open router service ports such as ports 22, 23, 80, and 8291. This research used the Network Development Life Cycle method, which started from analysis design and prototype simulation to implementation. The research results after testing were able to secure local network service ports against vulnerability scanners on routers using the port knocking method, and testing attack schemes carried out from each scheme could run well on the router’s local network and obtain notifications via telegram bots in real time to administrators. This research contributes to administrators’ ability to secure networks so irresponsible people do not easily infiltrate them.

Abstract (sommario):
This study presents a dual-band power amplifier (PA) with two output ports using a simplified three-port, frequency-dividing matching network. The dual-band, dual-output PA could amplify a dual-band signal with one transistor, and the diplexer-like output matching network (OMN) divided the two bands into different output ports. A structure consisting of a λ/4 open stub and a λ/4 transmission line was applied to restrain undesired signals, which made each branch equivalent to an open circuit at another frequency. A three-stub design reduced the complexity of the OMN. Second-order harmonic impedances were tuned for better efficiency. The PA was designed with a 10-W gallium nitride high electron mobility transistor (GaN HEMT). It achieved a drain efficiency (DE) of 55.84% and 53.77%, with the corresponding output power of 40.22 and 40.77 dBm at 3.5 and 5.0 GHz, respectively. The 40%-DE bandwidths were over 200 MHz in the two bands.

Abstract (sommario):
The main objective of the present work is to make a computational study of stratified scavenging system in two-stroke medium capacity engines to reduce or to curb the emissions from the two-stroke engines. The 3-D flows within the cylinder are simulated using computational fluid dynamics and the code Fluent 6. Flow structures in the transfer ports and the exhaust port are predicted without the stratification and with the stratification, and are well predicted. The total pressure and velocity map from computation provided comprehensive information on the scavenging and stratification phenomenon. Analysis is carried out for the transfer ports flow and the extra port in the transfer port along with the exhaust port when the piston is moving from the top dead center to the bottom dead center, as the ports are closed, half open, three forth open, and full port opening. An unstructured cell is adopted for meshing the geometry created in CATIA software. Flow is simulated by solving governing equations namely conservation of mass momentum and energy using SIMPLE algorithm. Turbulence is modeled by high Reynolds number version k-e model. Experimental measurements are made for validating the numerical prediction. Good agreement is observed between predicted result and experimental data; that the stratification had significantly reduced the emissions and fuel economy is achieved.

Abstract (sommario):
Ports play important roles in linking transportation routes and distributing cargo, which promote the national and regional economy and trade development. Although ports formerly dominated the distribution and transportation of cargo in the era of sailing boats all over the world, their monopoly has been challenged more and more fiercely during the process of economic globalization and integration. Under the current economic conditions, the competition or opposition between the ports are not suitable for their normal operation. In order to adapt to the ongoing reformation of sea transportation, it is inevitable that port resources integrate to take advantage of complementary cooperation. As the integration of resource can optimize the allocation of the limited port resources, it brings about overall advantage to promote the development of port cluster and regional economy. However, a lot of problems would still need to face in the practical process. To meet the requirements of economic and social development, the researchers have launched a large number of theoretical and practical researches in their field about the development of port resource integration. So, the theoretical and practical researches in the published papers are studied to open out the significances of port resource integration and seek after the solution to the problems in development of ports in the present study.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper considers the effects of combination of two different approaches in developing seaports positioning strategy. The first one is based on comparing the most important quantitative and qualitative seaports choice criteria by benchmarking method. Benchmarking has been used in creating the appropriate model for efficient marketing positioning of Aegean, Adriatic and Black Sea seaports. The criteria that describe the degree of these seaports competitiveness are chosen upon the investigation of ports customers’ preferences. The second employed approach based on matrix game concept has been used for the purpose of optimal repositioning of the ports. Though, nine selected ports’ functions are treated in a way that they are divided into two sets: one composed of the functions which are to be developed, and the other consisted of the functions for which it is expected to be suppressed in the future. According to the numerically obtained results the ports are repositioned, and corresponding explanations are given in the marketing manner. The mixture of these two concepts should contribute to the review of the state of these business systems and their images at the market, as well as to open prospective toward finding out the ways of creating and maintaining their competitive advantages.
