The group of grammatical words1 used by Rabbi Abraham ibn Ezra in his writings overall2 includes the words ’bl “but”, ’wlm “but, however", ’”r “after", ’k “but, only", ’kn “indeed", ’l “to”, ’”l “at", ’šr “that”, b “in", byn “between", bšbyl “for", “w” “except", “rm “not yet", k “as, like", kbr “already", kmw “like", kn “so, thus", kpy “as, like", l “to", lbd “alone", lkn “therefore", lm”n “for the sake of/so as to", mn “from", ngd “against", nwk” “in the face of", “bwr “in order that", “d “until, up to", “l “on”, “m “with", qwdm “before, previously", rq “only", twk “within", t”t “under" and tmwr “in the place of".3 Ibn Ezra did not use the grammatical terms prevailing in modern Hebrew, such as mylym dqdwqywt grammatical words‘, mylwt y”s prepositions‘, mylwt “ybwr or mylwt qyšwr conjunctions‘, etc., but sorted these words into groups that he labelled “bdym slaves‘, mlwt “nyyn words of matter‘ and ’wtywt “nyyn letters of matter‘, mlwt ““m words of sense‘ and mlwt dbq words of adhesion‘. These terms appeared in his writings as the topic and context required. Examination of Ibn Ezra‘s works shows that by these terms he meant the words that constitute a third word class, neither nouns nor verbs. This class includes prepositions (independent and clitic), conjunctions, adverbs and interjections. The definitions change from one work to another, as do the groups of words that the labels refer to, so that some grammatical words may belong to more than one group according to Ibn Ezra‘s definitions.

AbstractIn this study we clarify the phylogeny and reassess the current taxonomy of the Micarea prasina group, focusing especially on the M. byssacea and M. micrococca complexes. The phylogeny was investigated using ITS, mtSSU and Mcm7 regions from 25 taxa belonging to the M. prasina group. A total of 107 new sequences were generated. Data were analyzed using maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood methods. The results reveal five undescribed well-supported lineages. Four of the lineages represent new species described as Micarea pseudomicrococca Launis & Myllys sp. nov., M. czarnotae Launis, van den Boom, Sérusiaux & Myllys sp. nov., M. microareolata Launis, Pykälä & Myllys sp. nov. and M. laeta Launis & Myllys sp. nov. In addition, a fifth lineage was revealed that requires further study. Micarea pseudomicrococca is characterized by an olive green granular thallus, small cream-white or brownish apothecia lacking the Sedifolia-grey pigment and two types of paraphyses up to 2 µm wide. Micarea czarnotae forms a granular, densely granular or continuous olive green thallus, convex to hemispherical apothecia often with the Sedifolia-grey pigment and no crystalline granules in the thallus. Micarea microareolata is characterized by a ± pale green areolate thallus (composed of goniocysts), cream-white apothecia lacking the Sedifolia-grey pigment and narrow spores. Micarea laeta has a vivid to olive green granular thallus, pale apothecia lacking the Sedifolia-grey pigment and wider spores compared to M. microareolata. Descriptions, images and a key are provided for the new species. Crystalline granules are introduced as a novel species-level character for Micarea.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced every activity to adapt to new habits, including the library. To overcome this, the UPI Library provides online services in the form of e-resources that can be accessed using the MyLOFT application. This study aims to determine how librarian services, service quality, and the role of e-resources services at MyLOFT are in terms of ease of access and in meeting the information needs of users. This research method uses a descriptive quantitative method. The sample of this study was active UPI students aged 18-22 years. The results showed that socialization and guidelines helped users in facilitating access to e-resources on MyLOFT, the quality of the service also had a pretty good appearance that made it easier for users to access, this service has also played quite a role in meeting the information needs of users at UPI. Although it is sufficient to meet the information needs of users, this service must continue to improve its services and continue to strive to provide the best service, so that the e-resources service on MyLOFT can be increasingly recognized and able to meet the information needs of users.

A two-step procedure is described for the purification of protein disulphide-isomerase (PDI). This procedure is based on the previous finding that the beta-subunit of the prolyl 4-hydroxylase tetramer (alpha 2 beta 2) is identical with PDI [Koivu, Myllylä, Helaakoski, Pihlajaniemi, Tasanen & Kivirikko (1987) J. Biol. Chem. 262, 6447-6449; Pihlajaniemi, Helaakoski, Tasanen, Myllylä, Huhtala, Koivu & Kivirikko (1987) EMBO J. 6, 643-649]. The procedure involves purification of the prolyl 4-hydroxylase tetramer by a simple affinity chromatography and subsequent isolation of the beta-subunit from the dissociated tetramer by ion-exchange chromatography.

Abstract Brain and other central nervous system tumors (BTs) contribute disproportionately to cancer morbidity and mortality relative to their incidence. To estimate the national burden due to these tumors in the United States (US), we estimated Years of Life Lost (YLL) due to premature death from BT overall and specific histopathologies. Mortality data for malignant and non-malignant BT were obtained from the National Vital Statistics System (~100% of US); survival data were obtained from the CDC’s National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR, ~82% of the US) Survival Analytic Dataset for the years 2004-2018. YLL was calculated by adding estimated years of life left at their age of death. Mean YLL (mYLL) with corresponding 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were reported by behavior, age at death, sex, and race/ethnicity for each data source, and by histopathology for NPCR. Total YLL due to malignant BT was 4,913,397 (mYLL=22.0) and 3,253,999 (mYLL=22.4), while non-malignant BTs contributed 208,278 YLL (mYLL=14.2). Females (mYLL=22.5), Hispanic individuals (mYLL=30.7), and children aged 0-14 years (mYLL=71.6), had the greatest mYLL due to malignant BTs. Glioblastoma had the highest total YLL (62.2% of all YLL, mYLL=19.8), while atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors had the greatest mYLL despite accounting for less than 1% of total YLL due to malignant BT (mYLL=74.4). Meningiomas accounted for 79% of total YLL due to non-malignant tumors, with a mYLL of 13.7. Compared to non-malignant BT, malignant BTs have the greatest mYLL, reflecting their short survival time post-diagnosis. BT are the most common type of cancer in children, leading to relatively high total (475,290 YLL) and mYLL for pediatric BT which may contribute substantially to cancer-specific mortality in this population. These estimates provide a compliment to other population-based BT statistics in demonstrating the impact of these debilitating tumors.

This study investigated the inter-day and intra-device reliability, and criterion validity of six devices for measuring barbell velocity in the free-weight back squat and power clean. In total, 10 competitive weightlifters completed an initial one repetition maximum (1RM) assessment followed by three load-velocity profiles (40–100% 1RM) in both exercises on four separate occasions. Mean and peak velocity was measured simultaneously on each device and compared to 3D motion capture for all repetitions. Reliability was assessed via coefficient of variation (CV) and typical error (TE). Least products regression (LPR) (R2) and limits of agreement (LOA) assessed the validity of the devices. The Gymaware was the most reliable for both exercises (CV < 10%; TE < 0.11 m·s−1, except 100% 1RM (mean velocity) and 90‒100% 1RM (peak velocity)), with MyLift and PUSH following a similar trend. Poorer reliability was observed for Beast Sensor and Bar Sensei (CV = 5.1–119.9%; TE = 0.08–0.48 m·s−1). The Gymaware was the most valid device, with small systematic bias and no proportional or fixed bias evident across both exercises (R2 > 0.42–0.99 LOA = −0.03–0.03 m·s−1). Comparable validity data was observed for MyLift in the back squat. Both PUSH devices produced some fixed and proportional bias, with Beast Sensor and Bar Sensei being the least valid devices across both exercises (R2 > 0.00–0.96, LOA = −0.36–0.46 m·s−1). Linear position transducers and smartphone applications could be used to obtain velocity-based data, with inertial measurement units demonstrating poorer reliability and validity.

A new late Osagean (Lower Mississippian) crinoid fauna is described from the Muldraugh Member of the Borden Formation of central Kentucky. The Muldraugh Member records a mixed carbonate-siliciclastic tempestite-dominated ramp environment. This is the first report of late Osagean crinoids from this depositional setting on the eastern side of the Eastern Interior Basin of the midcontinental United States. The Muldraugh crinoid fauna contains 66 species and is dominated by advanced cladids. This fauna has similarities to other late Osagean faunas but is distinctive both in species abundance and rank order abundance of species. Eight new species are described from this fauna, includingCamptocrinus nudus, Paradichocrinus ramus, Poteriocrinites horowitzi, Parascytalocrinus pentagonus, Abrotocrinus debrae, Abrotocrinus springeri, Worthenocrinus hardinensis, andMespilocrinus myllos.

Microperus Wood, 1980 ambrosia beetles in Thailand are reviewed. Four species, M. bidentatussp. nov., M. bucolicussp. nov., M. globodeclivissp. nov., and M. serratussp. nov. are described. Four new combinations are given: Microperus armaticeps (Schedl, 1942) comb. nov., Microperus exsculptus (Eggers, 1927) comb. nov., Microperus pedellus (Schedl, 1969) comb. nov., and Microperus spicatulus (Browne, 1986) comb. nov., stat. res., all from Xyleborus. Two new synonyms are proposed: Microperus cruralis (Schedl, 1975) (= Xyleborus myllus Browne, 1986 syn. nov.), Microperus exsculptus (Eggers, 1927) (= Xyleborus dentipennis Browne, 1983 syn. nov.). Four species are reported from Thailand for the first time: Microperus chrysophylli (Eggers, 1930), Microperus exsculptus, Microperus nanus (Browne, 1949) and Microperus quercicola (Eggers, 1926). With the inclusion of the Microperus species described and recorded herein, the diversity of Microperus is increased to 35 species, of which 18 are recorded in Thailand. An updated key to the Microperus of the Indochinese Peninsula and China is provided. The taxonomy, diagnostic characters, and distribution of species are briefly discussed.

El objetivo general del presente estudio fue analizar la vulneración del debido proceso en las comisiones de investigación parlamentaria, en el Perú y en América Latina. Se aplicó la guía próxima para seleccionar la base de datos bibliográficos de Scielo, Scopus y otros. En la esfera metodológica, desde una investigación de enfoque cualitativo, se ha realizado un análisis documental exhaustivo desde Myloft en revistas indexadas en torno a las categorías de estudio, habiendo aplicado criterios de inclusión y exclusión, para determinar los artículos que son relevantes para la investigación. Los diversos artículos empíricos, en su totalidad coinciden en la vulneración de las garantías procesales, que están plasmadas en la Constitución, siendo los principios más vulnerados el debido proceso, derecho de defensa, presunción de inocencia, derecho a la contradicción de prueba de cargo, perjudicando con ello el proceso porque no solo se vulneran los derechos fundamentales del investigado, sino que permite que el investigado denuncie y frustre la investigación.

La educación actual requiere mejorar las diversas habilidades que se encuentran presentes en los estudiantes de ahí la necesidad de afianzar las diferentes inteligencias múltiples de los educandos con la aplicación de las competencias digitales; el objetivo de la investigación se centró en identificar a las competencias digitales para promover el desarrollo de las inteligencias múltiples en los estudiantes de educación básica regular. Se realizo es una revisión sistemática, se usó Myloft, el cual permitió el acceso fuentes provenientes de Scopus, Ebsco, ProQuest, Scielo. Como criterios de exclusión se eliminaron investigaciones que no guardaban relación con las categorías estudiadas, artículos duplicados. Los resultados de búsquedas arrojaron una selección de 73 fuentes de los cuales 37 correspondían a las competencias digitales y 23 sobre inteligencias múltiples; 7 estudios se encontraban en inglés acerca de competencias digitales y, 6 sobre inteligencias múltiples. En conclusión, el uso de las competencias digitales en educación básica regular representa una oportunidad para perfeccionar el potencial de los estudiantes y al ser aplicadas de forma pertinente por los docentes pueden fortalecer y desarrollar las diferentes inteligencias múltiples.

Most undergraduates lack the scientific background to read and appreciate much of the primary literature in physiology. Even when the underlying concepts are elegantly simple, the inherent complexity of contemporary papers often makes the work inaccessible to them. However, with a little help, they can be guided to an understanding of the creative thought processes that underlie the research and to appreciate its significance. This is especially true of many classic papers in physiology that often rely on easily comprehensible techniques. Moreover, the American Physiological Society (APS) has invited prominent scientists to select important papers in their fields and to write essays that both put the work into historical context and explain why it is scientifically important. The APS Legacy Project makes these classic papers freely available online. One such paper by Gottschalk and Mylle presents data from a series of micropuncture studies that confirm all of the predictions of the countercurrent exchange model of concentrated urine production ( 2 ). The included handout of questions for discovery learning and teaching points suggest ways to use the paper as an instructional resource.

Por la importancia actual el recurso hídrico necesita contar con un estudio que recoja puntos críticos a ser atendidos y considerarse como propuesta para una gestión integral; por lo cual, se quiere resaltar, la necesidad de conformar los consejos de cuenca con participación articulada de los tres niveles de gobierno, comunidad y sociedad civil para establecer una agenda de trabajo en conjunto que priorice acciones inmediatas en el manejo adecuado del agua. Se identificaron características del potencial hídrico, infraestructura, potencial agrícola e intervención institucional. Para el recojo de la información se hizo uso del software MyLOFT, que permitió el acceso a los índices de las revistas indexadas. Al seleccionar la revista, Scielo, se procedió con la búsqueda de todo archivo relacionado al recurso hídrico, años 2015 al 2022, de los cuales se accedió a un promedio de 180 referencias bibliográficas, se recopilo revistas referentes al recurso hídrico relacionado con la gestión integrada y la planificación, de las cuales se analizó un total de 20 revistas. Hay una brecha que necesita ser atendida; por lo que, hay un listado de asuntos pendientes por desarrollar e investigar.

This article discusses the effects the new technology of printing had on the rich and multilingual textual culture of late medieval Britain. Before setting up his press in Westminster, William Caxton had books published in Latin, French and English. As soon as he relocated to England, however, he abandoned this multilingual business model and devoted all his energies to print books in English, as did his successors Richard Pynson and Wynkyn de Worde. Not only did they favour English over all other British languages, but promoted a London-based variety of English at the expense of other dialects. Hence, before giving to the press the Scots Contemplacioun of Synnaris by William Touris, Wynkyn de Worde chose to have it Anglicized. When Walter Chepman and Andrew Myllar established a printing press in Edinburgh in 1508, they replicated the choices of their English counterparts, promoting the standard form of Scots and even Scotticizing Middle English texts, such as Sir Eglamour of Artois. I conclude by arguing that the introduction of the printing press in Britain enhanced the prestige of the language variety used by the elite and became instrumental in eroding the balances existing in the British language ecosystem.

Reliability of software is an essential concern for users for a long time. Software reliability is mainly obtained through modeling and estimating. There are numerous methods for reducing the failure rate. However, the existing methods are nonlinear. Hence the parameter estimation of these methods is difficult. This paper concerns on estimation and prediction of software reliability through different soft computing methods for improving the reliability of software. For estimation and prediction, the authors of this paper take two soft computing methodologies, including fuzzy logic and neural network. The outcomes seem to give satisfactory results on large datasets. For experiments, this paper is using two different large datasets of Apache server and MyLyn application software for showing the effectiveness of the results. The proposed methods of prediction would be useful for practitioners to simplify the procedures during software development in large datasets for reducing failures of software.

Se seleccionaron los artículos publicados en varios idiomas desde los años 2020 a 2023. Se analizaron los contenidos, con la finalidad de poder esquematizar los puntos fundamentales como: El papel del gobierno en relación con la calidad del gasto Público y la relación existente entre el gasto público y el sector salud. Los resultados de la revisión sistemática desarrollada, permiten concluir que existe un impacto significativo relacionado con la calidad del gasto público en el sector salud; lo que pone en evidencia que mientras se incremente la asignación de gasto público al sector salud, se tendrá un impacto de manera positiva sobre la situación real de los servicios de salud, que permitirá cumplir con los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible.

El presente artículo de revisión tuvo como objetivo: contrastar el profesionalismo de la enfermería en las carreras sanitarias del Ecuador. En la metodología empleada presenta un enfoque cualitativo con alcance descriptivo, su diseño está basado en la revisión sistémica de 12 artículos científicos obtenidos desde la biblioteca virtual MyLOFT UCV, así como revistas científicas de páginas como PubMed, ProSciences, SCIELO, Scopus, EBSCO, considerando los cuatro roles de enfermería como profesión: asistencial, administrativo, investigación y docencia. Como resultados se determinó que: la mayoría de los estudios presentan un enfoque cualitativo de tipo descriptivo, donde los investigadores han realizados revisiones bibliográficas sobre el profesionalismo de los y las enfermeras. Se concluye que, el profesional de enfermería decide en qué momento desenvolverse en cada uno de los cuatro roles que tiene como perfil de egreso, sin dejar a un lado el sentido de pertinencia; con el profesionalismo, en la actualidad se están quedando atrás aquellas barreras que ponían limitaciones el desarrollo de las competencias del profesional de enfermería, también, se debería restructurar la malla curricular de la carrera de enfermería en instituciones públicas y privadas donde se fortalezca los conocimientos de pedagogía y administración basados en el marco actual de los sistemas sanitarios.

Most lysines in type IV and VI collagens are hydroxylated and glycosylated, but the functions of these unique galactosylhydroxylysyl and glucosylgalactosylhydroxylysyl residues are poorly understood. The formation of glycosylated hydroxylysines is catalyzed by multifunctional lysyl hydroxylase 3 (LH3) in vivo, and we have used LH3-manipulated mice and cells as models to study the function of these carbohydrates. These hydroxylysine-linked carbohydrates were shown recently to be indispensable for the formation of basement membranes (Ruotsalainen, H., Sipilä, L., Vapola, M., Sormunen, R., Salo, A. M., Uitto, L., Mercer, D. K., Robins, S. P., Risteli, M., Aszodi, A., Fässler, R., and Myllylä, R. (2006) J. Cell Sci. 119, 625–635). Analysis of LH3 knock-out embryos and cells in this work indicated that loss of glycosylated hydroxylysines prevents the intracellular tetramerization of type VI collagen and leads to impaired secretion of type IV and VI collagens. Mice lacking the LH activity of LH3 produced slightly underglycosylated type IV and VI collagens with abnormal distribution. The altered distribution and aggregation of type VI collagen led to similar ultrastructural alterations in muscle to those detected in collagen VI knockout and some Ullrich congenital muscular dystrophy patients. Our results provide new information about the function of hydroxylysine-linked carbohydrates of collagens, indicating that they play an important role in the secretion, assembly, and distribution of highly glycosylated collagen types.

The Lebedyn breed of the combined direction of productivity was used for improvement of economically useful signs, especially milk productivity of cows of Brown Carpathian breed. Both breeds belong to the dual-purpose direction of productivity, they are adapted to the natural and climatic zones of breeding and "belong" to a related group of brown breeds.
The largest related group of the Brown Carpathian breed are the descendants of the bull Rupora 6507, to which the "single crossing" of the Lebedyn breed of the dual-purpose direction of productivity was carried out. In addition, the following servicing bulls of the Lebedyn breed were used to improve the economically useful characteristics of the Brown Carpathian breed: Tuman 779 Shafran 2012, Henii 958, Kokos 923 (related group of Elbrus 1871) Zhdanyi 035, Limonad 2188, (line of Narzan 937) Landysh 2012 (related group of Rolik 113) Minus 1353 (line of Fordzon-Mylyi 290). The Lebedyn breed has played an important role in strengthening the productive characteristics of Brown Carpathian breed and expanding its genealogical structure.

This study clarifies how the diet of Baltic salmon leads to thiamine deficiency in eggs, and consequently to M74 mortality of yolk-sac fry. The main prey species, sprat (Sprattus sprattus) and herring (Clupea harengus membras), and their biomass in the Baltic Proper (BPr) and the Bothnian Sea, the two feeding grounds of salmon originating from the northern Gulf of Bothnia rivers, are compared. The thiamine concentration of both prey species is lowest in the youngest age groups. Because average fat content and energy density are greater in sprat than in herring, and greatest in youngest sprat, the supply of thiamine per unit energy is least in a diet containing many young sprat. Also, the greater is the supply of thiamine and fat from sprat in the southern BPr in the preceding year, the lower the concentration of thiamine in salmon eggs. Thiamine deficiency in eggs results from an unbalanced diet abundant in fatty prey fish, such as young sprat, from which the supply of thiamine is insufficient in proportion to the supply of energy and unsaturated fatty acids for salmon, which must undergo a long prespawning fasting period.

El presente artículo es una revisión exhaustiva y estructurada de los estudios más actuales relacionados con diversas técnicas y metodologías educativas enfocadas en aumentar la conciencia ambiental en entornos escolares; se busca analizar las diferentes estrategias educativas para mejorar la conciencia ambiental en las escuelas. El diseño de la investigación es cualitativo, de tipo teórico sistemático. La técnica empleada es el análisis documental. Se revisó diversas bases de datos científicas tales como MyLOFT, google publicación en revistas científicas desde el año 2019 indexadas en Scopus, Scielo, Web of Science, Scopus, ProQuest, y Google Scholar, también se usa la metodología PRISMA. Los resultados obtenidos del análisis de diversas investigaciones brindan datos favorables y significativos que respaldan de manera contundente la existencia de una relación positiva entre la alfabetización ambiental y la conciencia ambiental en los estudiantes y miembros de una comunidad educativa. Estos resultados se atribuyen a la implementación de estrategias, modelos y propuestas que han contribuido a mejorar la conciencia ambiental en el entorno escolar.

An ordinal logistic model established the factors that influence access to online reading materials. The study revealed that university students exhibited moderate utilisation of online resources, primarily accessing materials through platforms like MyLOFT, Google Scholar, University online catalogs, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and Directory of Open Access Books (DOAB). Additionally, the findings underscored notable variations in the mode of access across the studied universities, with access influenced by factors such as sex, type of degree pursued, availability of university ICT equipment, and the research level of students. These insights shed light on the need for tailored strategies to enhance online reading materials accessibility and to support diverse student populations in their academic pursuits, such as subscribing to the publishers of scientific journals. This may improve students’ scientific research writing skills and completion rate, which have remained a formidable challenge in higher education institutions in Uganda.

e22073 Background: Some clinical trials in breast cancer have reported imppressive outcomes related to laboratory immune findings in the neoadjuvant setting. In this context, tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in tissue specimens and in peripheral blood are being tested as two emerging prognostic and predictive factors. We designed a protocol to analyze specifically TILs before, during and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (CT) in breast cancer in blood and tissue, and their eventual relation with pathological complete response. Methods: From March 2011 to January 2013, 48 patients (18 HER2+/ 30 HER2-) with T2-4 N0-3 breast carcinoma treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy in the Breast Cancer Unit of the Hospital Universitario Virgen Macarena (Seville, Spain) were included in the study protocol. CD3+, CD8+, CD8-16-56+ and Foxp3+ cell infiltrates were detected by immunohistochemistry before and after the end of neoadjuvant chemotherapy in tissue specimens. Blood samples were collected in EDTA-K3 tubes before every cycle of CT to determine the immunophenotype and regulatory cell profile. Cell populations were determined by flow cytometry analysis of whole blood. Results: By January 2013, 35 patients (11 HER2+/ 24 HER2-) were operated. Pathological complete responses (pCR) or near pCR (grade 4/5 Myller and Payne) were attained in 13 patients. pCR was achieved in 63.63% (7 of 11) of tumors overexpressing HER2, but in only a 25% (6 of 24) of HER2-negative tumors. Overall Tregs diminished in the pCR and non pCR groups. Disappearance of Tregs (Black grading system) was more frequent in the pCR group (69.23 vs 54.54%) and HER2+ population (63.63 vs 58.53%), although differences were not statistically significant. CD8+ infiltrates remain stable during treatment. Conclusions: Neoadjuvant CT decreases Tregs immunosuppressive infiltrates with no changes in CD8+ cytotoxic lymphocytes. Changes observed in lymphocytic infiltrates during neoadjuvant treatment indicate that Tregs may represent an interesting therapeutic target in breast carcinoma.

Proto-photographic and proto-cinematic technologies are an unending source of inspiration for a visual artist. We want to consider the case of an eighteenth-century optical device, the Claude mirror, as a starting point for an artistic collaboration.
The Claude mirror is a small black convex mirror named after the painter Claude Lorrain and used by late eighteenth-century and early nineteenth-century painters and travellers for viewing landscapes. The dark mirror surface produces an image with a limited tonal range, allowing the viewer to look at the environment as if it were a painting. A famous Thomas Gainsborough drawing shows a man seated on a bank with a sketchbook on his lap and holding an oval mirror propped against a tree branch (Gainsborough, 1750-55).
In spring 2019, in a flash of joint inspiration, we conceived a method of combining aspects of our artistic processes: Salla’s moving image and Laura’s printmaking practice. For 18 months, we captured photographic time-lapse sequences of everyday views from the backyards of our studios, residencies, and homes as reflections on the surface of copper plates installed in the environment (Myllylä and Vainikka, 2021). In the resulting installation, titled Claude Chamber, we projected the video sequences on the gallery space, reflected via the same mirror surfaces, and the projected images became distorted and spatial.
We were intrigued by this optical device, in which characteristics of photography and printmaking meet. One can think of a Claude glass as a predecessor of the camera viewfinder, an early photographic gesture. It can also be viewed as a printing plate, a matrix reflecting a view. In a traditional printing plate, the image is attached or fastens itself onto the surface of the plate; in our installation, the image is transient and moving.

AbstractThis article explores the experiences of fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel during and immediately after a technological event using a phenomenological approach. Personnel engaged in the rescue operations during and immediately after the Ghislenghien gas explosion reflected upon their experiences in their responses to a specially designed, self-reporting questionnaire that included open-ended questions. Firefighters reported more perceived threat and direct exposure to death than did EMS personnel. Qualitative analysis indicates that the central characteristics of this potentially traumatizing event were the suddenness and massiveness of the impact, and the fact that it involved young victims and/or multiple deaths. With regard to emotions, powerlessness, horror, fear, a sense of apocalypse, and grief were experienced by both firefighters and EMS personnel. Firefighters noted that the death of colleagues, the involvement of friends and family, the massive impact, and exposure to the burned victims were most shocking. Emergency Medical Services personnel and in-hospital staff reported the impact, the confrontation with death, the involvement of friends and family, and the pain, suffering, and screaming of burned victims as the most shocking aspects of this event. BackgroundDespite significant improvements in diagnosis delay and treatment strategies, the burden of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) remains high.ObjectivesThe objective of the study was to assess the association between diagnosis delay, disease activity and burden on daily life (BoDL) in a large sample of European patients with SLE.MethodsIn May 2020, Lupus Europe, the European umbrella patient association for SLE, conducted a multilingual anonymous online cross-sectional study to individuals with a self-reported physician’s diagnosis of SLE living in Europe. The BoDL score was computed using 1 to 5 Likert scales on 5 domains (mobility, anxiety/depression, self-care, daily activities and pain/discomfort) and the sum was transposed on a 0 (minimum Burden on daily life) to 100 (maximum BoDL) scale. Comparisons between independent groups were made using the Mann-Whitney test for continuous outcomes and the Chi-2 test (or Fisher’s exact test) for quantitative data.ResultsData of 4,150 SLE patients from 35 European countries were analysed.The mean (±SD) BoDL score in the study population was 37.8 (±18.7) with a modest downward trend of the BoDL based on age (from 33.4% to 42.1% from age less than 25 to age 65 - a loss of up to 9% points over up to 40 years).The diagnosis delay was reported to be <2 years in 1903 participants (47.5%), between 2 and <5 years in 1056 (26.3%) and ≥5 years or more in 1049 (26.2%). 142 did not answer.. Those with a diagnosis of SLE within 2 years of first symptoms had significantly lower mean Burden on daily life scores than those diagnosed after 5 years (33.6 versus 44.0, p<0.001). This trend is deemed robust as it was found across almost all European countries. These results highlight the importance of improving current diagnosis delay for SLE as a way to improve the burden of the disease on daily life.A total of 2980 (71.8%) patients felt that their “lupus has been under control over the last 3 months” while 1166 (28.1%) did not. 4 did not answer. The Burden on daily life score was significantly better in SLE patients feeling that their lupus had been under control during the past 3 months versus the others (34.0% versus 47.6%, p<0.001). Again, this trend was found across almost all European countries.ConclusionThis large patient survey reveals both the importance of prompt SLE diagnosis as well the relationship between disease activity and disease burden upon the daily life of European lupus patients. Further improvements should focus on reducing the diagnosis delay and identifying new therapeutic strategies for those with uncontrolled disease. Software is a complex entity, and its development needs careful planning and a high amount of time and cost. To assess quality of program, software measures are very helpful. Amongst the existing measures, coupling is an important design measure, which computes the degree of interdependence among the entities of a software system. Higher coupling leads to cognitive complexity and thus a higher probability occurrence of faults. Well in time prediction of fault-prone modules assists in saving time and cost of testing. This paper aims to capture important aspects of coupling and then assess the effectiveness of these aspects in determining fault-prone entities in the software system. We propose two coupling metrics, i.e., Vovel-in and Vovel-out, that capture the level of coupling and the volume of information flow. We empirically evaluate the effectiveness of the Vovel metrics in determining the fault-prone classes using five projects, i.e., Eclipse JDT, Equinox framework, Apache Lucene, Mylyn, and Eclipse PDE UI. Model building is done using univariate logistic regression and later Spearman correlation coefficient is computed with the existing coupling metrics to assess the coverage of unique information. Finally, the least correlated metrics are used for building multivariate logistic regression with and without the use of Vovel metrics, to assess the effectiveness of Vovel metrics. The results show the proposed metrics significantly improve the predicting of fault prone classes. Moreover, the proposed metrics cover a significant amount of unique information which is not covered by the existing well-known coupling metrics, i.e., CBO, RFC, Fan-in, and Fan-out. This paper, empirically evaluates the impact of coupling metrics, and more specifically the importance of level and volume of coupling in software fault prediction. The results advocate the prudent addition of proposed metrics due to their unique information coverage and significant predictive ability.

They are unique insofar as, after the properties have been occupied, facilities must be jointly managed by residents. The continuous growth of high-rise residential buildings specifies that there is a need for effective ownership and property management system to instill a valuable living experience among high-rise residents in this country. Looking at this scenario, this research takes an initiative to develop a mobile application that supports streamline information with assistive features to improve communication and information sharing for high-rise residential management in Malaysia. This aim is achieved by answering three research objectives, including identifying user requirements, designing the application prototype and developing the artefact and evaluating the artefact. The study was conducted together with LT Sdn Bhd, the property management company responsible in managing and maintaining property related matters of Seroja Apartment. An adopted conceptual framework for property management based on the sustainable indicator dimensions for property management and applicable features from existing mobile application to develop the artefact has been proposed. The conceptual framework was proposed based on literature review and nature of work observed on site. Lastly, the study successfully validated the proposed adopted framework against the artefact, the MyLT mobile application.

Abstract CRISPR screens have become the primary discovery engine in modern biology. However, many screening workflows are still performed in cancer cell lines and coupled to simplistic read-outs such as cellular fitness. At Myllia Biotechnology, we combine CRISPR screening with single-cell RNA sequencing, leveraging two transformative technologies to enable genetic screening for complex phenotypes. We utilize the CRISPR screening workflow to map the impact of thousands of genetic perturbations on the global transcriptome at single-cell resolution. Our powerful approach has broad applications in identifying novel drug targets or elucidating unknown mechanisms of actions of drugs. Primary human T cells are currently of great interest in the scientific community. They are not only key players in autoimmunity and other inflammatory diseases, but also represent attractive targets for immunotherapy of cancer. To enable the discovery of novel targets, we built a workflow that utilizes CD4+ T cells from peripheral blood and allows functional genomic screens in these cells. Upon activation, naïve CD4+ T cells proliferate and differentiate into specific T helper cell subsets, such as Th1, Th2, or Th17 cells. Here, we present data of an experiment in which we screened for regulators of T helper cell differentiation and skewed cells towards the Th2 subset. We aimed to identify genes whose knockout boosts or attenuates the ability of primary naïve CD4+ T cells to become Th2 cells. Th2 cells support the humoral immune response, and their dysfunction has been linked to inflammatory diseases, including asthma. In our screen, the different T cell subsets could be captured using curated transcriptomic signatures. Importantly, several gene KOs introduced in a pooled fashion using CRISPR/Cas9 accumulated in distinct subpopulations, suggesting that these genes regulate the differentiation of naïve T cells into the various T helper cell subsets. Overall, our pooled screening approach in primary human T cells allows for novel insights in the plasticity of T cells and identifies genes that could serve as drug targets in autoimmunity, inflammation and immuno-oncology. Abstract CRISPR screens have become the primary discovery engine in modern biology and are widely used to uncover novel targets in immuno-oncology. However, these genetic screens are usually coupled to rather simplistic read-outs such as cell fitness. In contrast, CROP-Seq (or “CRISPR Droplet” Sequencing) screens combine CRISPR perturbation with single-cell transcriptomics, enabling high-content phenotyping at single-cell resolution. Briefly, cells are perturbed with a pooled sgRNA library and transcriptomic profiles of each cell are recorded using conventional single-cell RNA sequencing platforms. Currently, the scale of these screens is limited to the perturbation of a couple of hundred genes, possibly up to 1.000 genes, because of increased costs for single-cell library preparation and next generation sequencing (NGS). At Myllia, we have built a platform allowing high-content CROP-Seq screens in both CRISPR-ready cancer cell lines as well as primary immune cells, e.g., human T cells. Using CRISPR KO, CRISPR interference or CRISPR activation workflows, we can help accelerate the identification of target genes and regulatory networks involved in immuno-oncology. Primary T cells are of great interest in the immunotherapy community as they are key players in autoimmune and inflammatory disease. Engineered T-lymphocytes such as CAR-T cells are currently developed as novel cellular medicines, yet many T cell-intrinsic features involved in CAR-T potency remain elusive. To enable the discovery of novel targets, we have performed multiple customized CROP-Seq CRISPR KO screens in primary human T cells investigating T cell stemness and effector phenotypes as well as CD4+ T helper cell differentiation towards Th1, Th2, or Th17 subsets. Here, we present screens for regulators of functional T cell plasticity and Th2 commitment in which we aimed to identify genes determining critical T cell fate decisions, potentially linking gene (dys)function to either autoimmune/inflammatory disease or functional persistence of cytotoxic T cells for cancer immunotherapy. Overall, the advanced CROP-Seq platform combining large-scale perturbations and targeted sequencing (TA) read-outs will catalyse a paradigm shift for CROP-Seq enabling high-throughput functional genomic screens that support the validation of drug targets in autoimmunity, inflammation and immuno-oncology. Cross-project defect prediction (CPDP) aims to predict software defects in a target project domain by leveraging information from different source project domains, allowing testers to identify defective modules quickly. However, CPDP models often underperform due to different data distributions between source and target domains, class imbalances, and the presence of noisy and irrelevant instances in both source and target projects. Additionally, standard features often fail to capture sufficient semantic and contextual information from the source project, leading to poor prediction performance in the target project. To address these challenges, this research proposes Smote Correlation and Attention Gated recurrent unit based Long Short-Term Memory optimization (SCAG-LSTM), which first employs a novel hybrid technique that extends the synthetic minority over-sampling technique (SMOTE) with edited nearest neighbors (ENN) to rebalance class distributions and mitigate the issues caused by noisy and irrelevant instances in both source and target domains. Furthermore, correlation-based feature selection (CFS) with best-first search (BFS) is utilized to identify and select the most important features, aiming to reduce the differences in data distribution among projects. Additionally, SCAG-LSTM integrates bidirectional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) and bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) networks to enhance the effectiveness of the long short-term memory (LSTM) model. These components efficiently capture semantic and contextual information as well as dependencies within the data, leading to more accurate predictions. Moreover, an attention mechanism is incorporated into the model to focus on key features, further improving prediction performance. Experiments are conducted on apache_lucene, equinox, eclipse_jdt_core, eclipse_pde_ui, and mylyn (AEEEM) and predictor models in software engineering (PROMISE) datasets and compared with active learning-based method (ALTRA), multi-source-based cross-project defect prediction method (MSCPDP), the two-phase feature importance amplification method (TFIA) on AEEEM and the two-phase transfer learning method (TPTL), domain adaptive kernel twin support vector machines method (DA-KTSVMO), and generative adversarial long-short term memory neural networks method (GB-CPDP) on PROMISE datasets. The results demonstrate that the proposed SCAG-LSTM model enhances the baseline models by 33.03%, 29.15% and 1.48% in terms of F1- measure and by 16.32%, 34.41% and 3.59% in terms of Area Under the Curve (AUC) on the AEEEM dataset, while on the PROMISE dataset it enhances the baseline models’ F1- measure by 42.60%, 32.00% and 25.10% and AUC by 34.90%, 27.80% and 12.96%. These findings suggest that the proposed model exhibits strong predictive performance.

Towards the end of his long career Abbot John Whethamstede, for many years the most celebrated Benedictine monk in England, took the opportunity of a letter he was writing to the prior of Tynemouth to engage in rhetorical but equally eulogistic praise of the ‘extraordinary melodies in praise of the Muses’ to be found not only at ‘the Cabalinian font which gushes forth in the midst of Oxford’ but also from ‘the Cirrean stream which runs near the suburbs of Cambridge’. Few historians of England’s two medieval universities have found it altogether easy to share the undiscriminating enthusiasm of the venerable abbot of St Albans for both Oxford and Cambridge. Gordon Leff — not of course at all alone in this — has done much to elucidate the intellectual and institutional life of the university of Oxford only to find the medieval history of his own university of Cambridge so much less rewarding that it rarely figures in his published work at all. Quite why, for at least the first two centuries of their existence, the Cambridge schools should have always remained less numerically significant and academically influential than their Oxford counterparts is still perhaps a more difficult question to answer than is usually assumed. Even more difficult to explain are the changing patterns of recruitment, patronage, endowment and intellectual activity which during the course of the mid and later fifteenth century at long last eradicated Cambridge’s inferior academic status and established an approximate degree of parity and prestige between the two universities. Without much doubt it was only then, during the century or so before the Reformation, that the historian encounters what Mr Malcolm Underwood has recently diagnosed as perhaps the most remarkable and influential of all ‘Cambridge phenomena’. Background:Non-adherence to medication and non-pharmacological interventions precludes reaching an optimal outcome. 30 to 80% of patients with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) do not adhere to their recommended treatment regimens.Objectives:The objective of this EULAR task force was to establish recommendations/points to consider (PtC) for the detection, assessment and management of non-adherence in people with RMDs.Methods:A EULAR task force (TF) was established, and the EULAR standardised operating procedures for the development of PtCs were followed. The TF included rheumatologists, health professionals in rheumatology (HPRs), and patient-representatives from 12 countries. A systematic literature review of reviews was conducted in advance to support the TF in formulating the PtC. In this study, we determine a new type comprehensive frame, which is called the generalized Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations, and it includes several special and classical type frames for Euclidean 3‐space and three‐dimensional Lie groups. After constructing this new comprehensive frame, we obtain derivative formulas with the help of the Lie curvature. In addition, we define some special type curves. The geometry of versor fields along a curve with Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations is a generalization of the usual theory of curves. Since this particular relationship, the osculating‐type and rectifying‐type curves with Frenet‐type frame in three‐dimensional Lie groups with Myller configurations include some special cases for osculating and rectifying curves in different spaces.
