Testo completoThe metro system in Stockholm consists of three lines, covering 100 stations with 108 km of track. Boarding passengers take 1.1 million journeys every day. Depending on the time of day, the number of cars varies, which can cause drivers to inadvertently stop trains with one car still in the tunnel or off the platform. To prevent this, there is a need for a sensor-based stand-alone system to alert drivers that the whole train, including all cars, is at the platform. First, the thesis describes the existing technologies and methods for train positioning. Two types of technology are compared for this application, optical and inductive. The optical system is more expensive and more sensitive to a messy environment but is more straightforward. The inductive sensor is cheap and does not need any maintenance. The challenge is the 50 mm sensing range. Both types of sensors were tested in a system, in laboratory environment and at Hjulsta trainstation. Different approaches were tested and evaluated. The two configurations that are compared in the end are a laser sensor system that indicates to the driver when the laser beam is blocked. The second configuration uses two inductive sensors that count the axles in two different locations along the track. Schematics for the final PCB and code for the logic are also presented.

Testo completoDigitalisering har påverkat och transformerat företag över hela världen genom att erbjuda nya värdeproducerande möjligheter. För att bibehålla konkurrenskraft i en föränderlig omvärld måste järnvägsoperatörer transformera sina företag och förvärva nya digitala lösningar och verktyg kopplade till järnvägsteknologier. Genom att digitalisera informationsintensiva processer med hjälp av informationssystem, blir det möjligt för järnvägsföretag att minska förlust av drifttid samt minska den totala underhållskostnaden. Samtidigt har den begränsade forskningen gällande användning av informationssystem i underhållsorganisationer försvårat digitaliseringsförsöken. Litteratur och tidigare studier har behandlat de två ämnena separat, dock har överlappande forskning varit otillräcklig. Denna studie syftar till att bidra med kunskap för att överbrygga gapet i litteraturen genom att undersöka de vinningar en underhållsorganisation kan erhålla med hjälp av ett informationssystem och de framgångsfaktorer som krävs för att uppnå dem. Genom att utföra denna studie i samarbete med det svenska underhållsbolaget MTR Tech AB har de potentiella användningsområdena av ett informationssystem identifierats. De tre huvudsakliga affärsmöjligheterna som kan erhållas från ett informationssystem är: stödjande av felsökningsprocessen, bättre planering av avhjälpande underhåll, samt möjliggörandet av tillståndsbaserat underhåll. Samtidigt har det visat sig att lönsamheten av ett informationssystem är direkt kopplat till dess utnyttjandegrad. Vi har således dragit slutsatsen att den affärsmöjlighet som bör eftersträvas är den som med största sannolikhet kommer att genomföras framgångsrikt under rådande omständigheter. Slutligen visar våra resultat att de framgångsfaktorer som krävs för att uppnå affärsmöjligheterna är en dedikerad projektgrupp, tydlig kommunikation och informationsdelning, samt lämplig personal.

Testo completoBackground: People have different preferences and therefore are we triggered by different things. A reward that justifies one person can, however, be demotivating for others. Therefore, an entirely individual reward system would be the ultimate way to motivate performance. Purpose: The purpose of this essay is to examine why firms do not have a reward system that is completely individual, which could be considered as the ideal. We want to obtain the factors that enable firms to have a reward system that is more collective than individual. Thesis method: In order to carry out the study, we have chosen to do interviews at three different companies. The essay is based on a hermeneutic theory of science and we have chosen to apply a deductive method approach. Theory: The theoretical framework consists of theories of motivation, reward system and different forms of rewards and our model showing the factors that may influence the degree of individuality in the reward system. Empirical method: To investigate factors that affect the degree of individuality in a reward system, we have chosen to make a comparative case study in our investigation process. Thus, we use a qualitative approach. Conclusions: Through our research, we found that most of the factors in our model from the theory chapter affect the degree of individuality in the reward system. Only the hypothesis of culture was rejected.

Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network is one of the largest public works projects undertaken by the Singapore government. This thesis summarizes and evaluates the performance of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) construction in Singapore's MRT network. Surface settlement induced by the tunneling process can cause damage to underground utilities and foundations and buildings and/or disrupt daily life by damaging roads and pavements, and is used in this thesis as a measure of performance. The influence of encountered geology and adopted construction methods (referring to the type of TBM used) on settlement is discussed. The dominant construction method on all four existing MRT lines involved the use of shield TBMs, with the main difference being the method of face support adopted. The North-South East-West (NS-EW) line employed largely compressed air as face support, while a move towards greater use of Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) was observed on the North-East line (NEL) and Circle Line (CCL). The use of EPB on the NEL resulted in 22 incidences of large, localized ground losses, which were of two types; 1. subsurface voids, or voids which formed above the tunnel face but were grouted before they could migrate to the surface, 2. surface sinkholes, or local depressions which were found by visual inspection to appear over the tunnels as the machine advanced. These large, localized ground losses usually occurred when tunneling through different weathering grades within a single formation or through mixed faces of different geological formations. The variability in ground conditions which resulted from these mixed weathering grades and mixed faces is a direct result of extensive tropical weathering of Singapore's soils, and poses a challenge to the performance of EPB machines during construction. The employment of slurry machines on the CCL was intended to mitigate some of the difficulties faced by EPB machines on the NEL, though with limited success. The use of slurry machines on the CCL resulted in the additional problem of slurry discharging to the surface and disrupting traffic. Given Singapore's plans to double the length of her rail network by 2030, the need to understand the impact of construction projects on adjacent structures and surface activities remains just as important, if not more so.

Testo completoBackground: Today, we live in a society that is largely characterized by change and uncertainty where rapid changes in the external environment tend to make budgeting less useful. As a result, budgeting has been heavily criticized. However, despite the criticisms of budgeting, the budget still has an important role in the management of the company. We find a knowledge gap in research that concerns budgeting in today's more dynamic environment and also includes the board's role in budgeting. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to describe and understand the use and purpose of budgeting in companies that are active in today's dynamic environment and due to various factors have difficulties predicting the future. Furthermore, the purpose is to describe the role of the board in the budget work for a more comprehensive understanding, taking into account the entire control chain. Method: A qualitative research strategy is applied in this study, whereby a multiple case study is conducted. The empirical study is based primarily on semi-structured interviews with respondents who have insight into the companies’ budgeting. Conclusions: Today's budgeting is used primarily to review the business thoroughly but it is also used by acting motivating as participation and dedication are promoted. There is a greater use in the process whereby budgeting takes place than in the budget as a document. However, due to the dynamic environment that companies engage in and difficulties in anticipating the future, budgeting is still available if you work properly and have the right attitude to it. The board has an active and significant role in budgeting, provided that the board actively acts as a board. In the budget work, the board has a determining role that is primarily distinguished by budget conditions, as well as in determining and reviewing the budget. An extra focus on the strategy role can be identified, whereby this role is also distinguished in budgeting by linking budget and strategy.

Chúng tôi đã nghiên cứu và vận hành chạy thử mô hình xử lý sinh học yếm khí - kỵ khí (AO) kết hợp với màng vi lọc ở quy mô mô hình phòng thí nghiệm (công suất 5-10 L/h) ở các chế độ công suất bùn tuần hoàn khác nhau. Kết quả xử lý trong thời gian 5 tháng vận hành mô hình cho thấy chất lượng nước thải sau xử lý có hàm lượng COD nhỏ hơn 20 mg/L, NH4-N nhỏ hơn 1 mg/L, NO3-N nhỏ hơn 5 mg/L. Hiệu suất xử lý chất hữu cơ và chất dinh dưỡng rất ổn định và hệ thống không phải sử dụng các nguồn bổ sung chất hữu cơ hay các hóa chất trợ lắng như các công nghệ đang áp dụng. Testo completoThere is a great need to reduce energy use in the world. By reducing energy demand, this reduces the negative environmental impact. In a constantly growing world, where it is built at an ever faster pace, the energy demand also increases. By increasing energy efficiency inexisting buildings, energy requirements may stagnate or even decrease despite expansion. By increasing energy efficiency, more of the energy demand can be used instead of standing for energy losses. Fortifikationsverket has a building they believe use too much energy. This building contains a restaurant that uses a steam system to heat its food, which makes the building's energy system unique. In order to reduce the energy consumption of the building, an energy audit is completed and analyzed in this report. This case study is conducted with a literature study to develop the knowledge in the field. Then measurements in the building are performed which are subsequently analyzed and presented to indicate any deviations and deficiencies. During the work it was discovered that a fuse was incorrectly installed to measure the electricity consumption of one of the boilers. By correcting this in order to be able to bill correctly, Fortifikationsverket saves almost 170,000 SEK per year as the boiler goes. In addition to this, the steam system was analyzed and estimates were made to respond if steam is more effective than electricity for cooking. It turns out that the steam system can be effective if a large amount of food is cooked. Considering nights, weekends and days when less food is cooked, electrical equipment is more effective because it completely turns off when not in use. Unlike the steam system that has to cover the energy losses to keep temperature and pressure, even when the system is not in use. By replacing the steam system with equivalent electrical equipment, it couldsave 205 MWh/year, according to estimates.The steam system accounts for 35% of the building's total electricity demandand is the largest item for energy use and is therefore the most focused area. In addition to the steam system, other energy usage was analyzed to provide energy savings. Many of the proposals are based on certain estimates and assumptions which must be considered. Some examples of savings that can be made is lowering the indoor temperature to save 50 MWh/year, install additional windows to save up to 140 MWh/year, install more efficient cooling units -200 MWh/year, install better ventilation control systems-50 MWh/year, install better controls for indoor lighting -40 MWh/year.

In view of the government’s active promotion of forward-looking foundation design paintings, the construction of its planned track will require the provision of a comprehensive and high-quality mass transit system to improve the efficiency of resource circulation in various regions and shorten the gap between regions. This is especially true for rail transit corridors and cities. The optimization of international railway transportation and rapid transit systems will create a safe, reliable and convenient rail construction and provide a more service-oriented rail transportation system. In order to focus more on the mass transit system, the Taichung MRT Green Line will be set up to meet the implementation of the MRT system operation maintenance and safety supervision and implementation of the system service indicators, and refer to domestic and foreign MRT systems, through system services The measurement results of the indicators were fed back to the Taichung MRT Green Line transportation system to provide a reference for MRT companies and business managers to improve service quality in order to meet the expectations of the community, citizens and users of the mass transit industry. This study will conduct a literature review by drawing on past experience, comparing current performance, and ways to achieve future expectations through different types of rapid transit systems at home and abroad. The contents of the literature review will be divided into four major projects: analysis of foreign rail transit systems and analysis of domestic Taipei MRT system, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit system and airport rapid transit system, and will focus on regulations, systems, operations, performance and scholars. The expert expositions, etc., constructed the specific executable system service indicators for the Taichung MRT Green Line. Continuously quantify service satisfaction indicators or service level assessments of the completed system service indicators, and track and roll-back the provision of the entire Taichung MRT System service to create differences between the Taichung MRT Green Line and other rapid transit systems. Features. After the review of the literature review, this study was divided into four major system service indicator aspects: First, safety: accident rate, crime rate, and casualty rate. Second, rapid: class distance, speed, delay time, on-time rate. Third, comfort: acceleration and deceleration rate of change, the average bearing rate, ventilation, temperature, noise. 4. Other items designated by the central competent authority. Finally, using the literature research method and the expert questionnaire survey method, we analyze the service indicators that fit the Taichung MRT system and provide a basis for evaluating the quantitative system services.

In general, the meausurement of MRT service quality includes the five di-mensions of PZB service quality,the ACSI model and the MRT’s key perform-ance indicators. However, it does not include specific dimensions for traffic service branch, and just focuses on the viewpoints of business operation. The measurement of service quality depend on customers’ experiences, not on ser-vice providers’ opinions. Thus, we establish a MRT passengers supply service chain, to find out the service criteria from the viewpoints of passengers. Using Kaoshiung MRT as research object, the results of this study can be a helpful reference for selecting the MRT passenger service quality criteria, and also provide suggestions for Kaoshiung MRT on it’s service quality promotion in the future The major findings of this research are summarized as follows: (1). Service selection criteria with the MRT passenger supply service chain not only examines the customer satisfaction from the viewpoint of passengers but also considers the items that passenger concerned. Even though the number of item influences the passengers’ inclination to fill in the ques-tionnaire, it is hard for the experts to select the criteria during the design stage of questionnaire. (2). The items such as average waiting time, pas-senger circulation, the courteous attitude by the service personal, the con-venience of parking, and the transit bus service are the important factors that should be improved.. (3). The items include safety, cleanliness and comfortable environment, aver-age waiting time, customer service attitude, and the transit bus service play a vital role in customer satisfaction. The unimportant items are the con-venience of parking, the signals, and the volume of the radio in the car. (4). In the Importance-Performance Analysis, Kaoshiung MRT system should focus on the service including average waiting time, passenger dynamic line, the courteous attitude by the service personal, and the transit bus service.

Mass rapid transit system (MRTS) is an important indicator for a modern metropolis.The system quality and reliability of the system is significantly concerned in MRTS. Simultaneously considering the reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) during the design phase is a new trend for the construction of a modern MRTS. Environment control sysem (ECS) of a MRTS is designed to maintain the atmosphere of the stations and the tunnels in proper conditions in the cases of normal, abnormal, and even emergent conditions. The reliability of the ECS is especially concerned. Since the reliability of the ECS depends on the quaility of the system components, the subsystems, and the systems used in the ECS, uncertainties due to manufacturing inherently exist. In this thesis, fuzzy logics will be exploited to consider the uncertainties of manufacturing for the RAM analysis of the ECS of MTRS. The ECS including the power-supply system, the local-enviornment-control supervisory system, the somke exhaust system, the tunnel ventilation fan system, and the tunnel damper system is studied on the RAM analysis in the thesis. By taking account the reliability indices provided by frequently-used equipment suppliers, typical fuzzy membership functions of reliability are found for the components. The technique of fuzzy fault tree analysis is applied to obtain the fuzzy membership function of reliability for the subsystem and/or the entire system. Also, Maintenance time to maintain the equipments is considered in the evaluation of availability of the system. The evaluation of maintainability is based on the time of shipping of repair parts and the time of the repairing. In this thesis, the environment control system of R3 station in Kaohsiung MRTS is selected as the practical system for simulations. By the comparison of the results of the simulation with the design index of reliability from the consultants, it is found that the proposed approach provides effective performance to verify the design data. In addition, suggestions for the system expanses, facility investment, and quantity of spar parts are proposed in this thesis.

This thesis studies the signaling and scheduling for MRT based on the framework of discrete event system supervisory control theory. The object is to find out the events that may decide the control policies and give a systematic approach for designing a controller by assigning sensors and actors. First, we find the relationships between discrete event system supervisory control and MRT signaling system, and model the dynamic behaviors of the trains by automata. Then, we give the system legal constrains to ensure the plant would satisfy the made specifics. However, due to the event controllability and observability, the system behaviors may depart from the legal constrains and reach to the unexpected states during operating. In order to avoid the case describing above, we can restrain some specific controllable events and unobservable events to design a supervisor so that the system would satisfy the specifics. In addition, we propose a systematic approach for designing a perfect supervisor. Finally, we can get a least constrained supervisor by analyzing the optimum assignment of sensors and actuators.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of endogenous small non-coding RNAs with a length of about 22 nucleotides. Once they bind to the complementary sequences of target mRNAs, they will cause target mRMA degradation or termination of translation. Although miR-122 is a liver-specific miRNA, previous studies found that miR-122 knockout mice have splenomegaly and an increase of Kupffer cells in the liver. Because fetal liver is one of the hematopoietic organs in mice, we hypothesize that miR-122 might be involved in the immune regulation. In this study, we observed splenomegaly and thymic enlargement in the miR-122 knockout mice. Although the percentages of B and T cells composition remained unchanged, total number of B and T cells was increased. The percentage of macrophages in the spleen of miR-122 konckout mice was increased. Therefore, miR-122 deficiency might cause abnormal accumulation of immune cells. In the bone marrow, both total cell number and the percentage of pre-B cells were increased in the miR-122 knockout mice, whereas the development of neutrophils and macrophages were normal. To test whether the miR-122 regulates precursor B cell proliferation, we stimulated bone marrow cells with IL-7. The result shows that cell proliferation of the Pro-B and Pre-B population was increased in the miR-122 knockout mice. Consistent with this, miR-122 null splenic B cells had a hyper-proliferation response to LPS and Pam3CSK4 stimulation. However, the proliferation response of splenic T cells was normal. Furthermore, LPS-stimulated IL-6 production by miR-122 knockout splenocytes and B cells was significantly enhanced. In summary, miR-122 knockout mice have abnormalities in the immune system development and response. Because the expression of miR-122 was low in the immune cells, investigations are required to reveal whether these abnormal phenotypes are caused by defects in the immune cells or defects in the hepatocytes.

The Membrane bioreactor (MBR) is the combination of the activated sludge process and the membrane technique process. With the effective filtrating function of the membrane unit, the suspended solid (SS) in the effluent of an MBR can be reduced to a very low concentration, hence eliminating the requirement of a secondary clarifier. This combination could further simplify the complicated operation requirements of the traditional wastewater secondary treatment facilities and is beneficial to the economic aspects of a treatment process for its less land demand. In this study, we first surveyed the impact of different hydraulic retention time (HRT) on an MBR. With a fixed sludge retention time (SRT=10 days), pH value (6.8~7.1), dissolved oxygen concentration (DO=5mg/L) and varied HRT (5, 10, 15, 20 hours), the MBR removed influent ammonia-nitrogen (NH4+-N) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) with high efficiency (100% and 94% respectively), and the best treatment efficiency was obtained with an HRT equaled to15 hours. However, the MBR didn’t display a function of phosphorus removal. To further increase the nitrogen removing efficiency of the MBR system, an anoxic tank was added in the upper stream of the aerobic MBR, which formed a two-stage MBR. With varied reflux ratio of the aerobic tank effluent to the influent (0.5, 1.5 and 2.0 respectively), the two-stage MBR removed COD and NH4+-N significantly, but the removal of phosphorus was not largely increased (efficiency =25%). The best COD and NH4+-N removing efficiency was obtained with the reflux ratio of 1.5. Utilizing the optimized HRT and reflux ratio, we further tested the two-stage MBR system with different sludge retention time (SRT=10, 20 and 30 days). Results showed that the two-stage MBR performed stably and the total nitrogen removal efficiency could reach 81% with a SRT of 30 days. Moreover, 16S rDNA analysis of the system showed that bacteria belonged to Proteobacteria and Planctomycetale groups existed in the microbial community of the two-stage MBR reactor. We also found aerobic denitrifier at varied SRT.

In this thesis, a dynamic moving test is operated in the first car during a normal transportation operation period. The dynamic testing system is mainly composed of a notebook, a power supply device, a power converter, NI-DAQ 6221, a USB interface, a vehicle battery and an inertial sensor, namely an "inertial measurement system". The research effort is focused on transmission behaviors caused by MRV driving motion onto a 6 Degree-of-Freedom dynamic measurement system. Based on the 3-axial acceleration of an accelerometer, the dynamic behavior changes on vertical, horizontal and up-n-down directions are measured. The 3-axial angular rate of a gyroscope is also used to measure the dynamic behavior changes on rolling, pitching and yawing angular rate wherein MRV advancing and turning dynamic changes is exactly the major researching effort for this thesis. Data collected from experiments are measured from an on-site distance from Kunyang Station to Far Eastern Hospital Station. There have been numerous data captured from two sections among 3 stops for experiment sites, namely Shandao Temple Station, Taipei Main Station and Ximen Station. Required data of acceleration and angular rate are measured by package software named LabVIEW. Dynamic signals are analyzed by using simulation analysis and integral computation through Matlab and Simulink Tool to match the behavioral variables of speeds and angles. After verification, a mutually integrated comparison for both experiment data and actual on-site data is operated. The experimental result is very ideal.

It is well-known that the ability and experience for a project contractor are the keys to project success. The study objective is to determine the qualification criteria for the award of MRT mechatronic contractor. The methodology lies in literature view, expert interview, and empirical case study. Literature review brought about 9 key sub-systems that usually involve extreme specialties and are not negligible. Expertise summarized from practitioners identified 9 major considerations to establish the qualification criteria for contractor award especially for MRT mechatronic systems. Details in MRT mechatronic systems are dissimilar to typical rail systems, which should be clarified in the contract clause. Integrating the empirical failure evidence and expertise, we conclude 8 amendments to the original contract clauses. The findings emphasize the importance on contractors’ past experience associated with MRT critical sub-systems.

MRT system has become one of the most important transportation in Taipei and Kaohsiung. Many studies have showed that when the distance to public transportation increases, the housing prices decline. While most earlier studies only focus on the housing prices in one city or one transportation line and estimate the whole MRT lines in Taipei and Kaohsiung as well as comparing the difference of these two cities by using linear regression analysis. The results indicate that when the distance to MRT station increases by 1 km, the housing prices decrease by $NT290,650 per ping. When the distance to MRT station is within 3 km, the housing prices decrease by $NT230,870 if the distance to MRT station increases by 1 km. Meanwhile, the relationship to housing prices and distance is a U shape. The results also show that the distance to the MRT system in Taipei has greater impact on housing prices than Kaohsiung.

This thesis is to investigate the power quality problems for KMRT system and to derive the optimal strategy to mitigate the harmonic distortion. The mathematical models of dc network which includes the TSS, 3rd track and VVVF Converters will be derived. Based on the power system network configuration, the operation schedule and annual ridership of KMRT system, the ac/dc load flow analysis is executed to find the power demand and current harmonic components for each TSS and each BSS. The harmonic load flow analysis is then performed to solve the voltage harmonic distortion. The optimal planning of harmonic filters will be derived so that the proper locations and years for the harmonic filters to be committed can be determined. The active filters and high pass filters as well as the band pass filters are all considered in the study to achieve the best cost effective for harmonic filter investment. This thesis will also to analyze in the stray current for mass transit system the mathematical models of TSS rectification stations, 3rd rail, running rail, the insulation resistances between running rail, MRT structure and grounding are included in the computer simulation. The variation of stray current for the peak and off peak operation of KMRT system over each study year is derived. The sensitivity analysis of stray current with respect to the insulation level of running rail is executed . The nearby public pipes of the MRT network will be used for the analysis of cathode corrosion due to the stray current. Different strategies to mitigate the stray current are investigated.

The system based on users' environment, personal preferences and needs to support personalized tourism service. In the other hand, the system provides user the other peoples’ experience of tourism. Help users make tourism planning. The system is evaluated by questionnaire based on 4 criteria including ease of use, usefulness, intention to use and attitude to use. The outcome indicates feasibility and effectiveness of this system.

Planning and providing a comfortable and convenient MRT system becomes a trend and target to the metropolitan development in Taiwan in recent years. The MRT system has many advantages such as short headway, punctual, efficient, economical and environmental friendly. But the most confusing problem of the MRT system is the influence of the noise and vibration to the adjacent area, which was caused by the train moving on the track. The vibration may cause resonanting of the building and operating abnormally to the equipments in the adjacent area. In order to reduce the noise and the vibration, some mitigation measures have been considered during the track design stage in recent years. Kaohsiung MRT project had been completed at September, 2008. It brings comfort and convenience to Kaohsiung citizens, but still has to face the problem of noise and vibration. This study used the field experiment to measure the vibration of elevated bridges of Kaohsiung MRT system. And comparied with the measuring result of high-speed railway and Taiwan railway. Besides, experiments in the train of Taiwan railway and Kaohsiung MRT system are also performed. So we can understand the characteristics and the influence of the vibration in these systems when the train moving on the track.

The investigation of Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) process is popular recently.The membranes separation can be the substitution of sedimentation, which can solve many problems in the traditional biological treatment process. Besides, the life of membrane has been extending to 5-8 year; it’s longer and cheaper then before. The sewage of water shed of reservoir is the target for this research. The objective of this investigation is compared the performance of MBR and tradition biological process. The pilot MBR process in Ji-tan sewage treatment plane is treated for sewage,and sampling the raw water and effluent of MBR process and Ji-tan sewage treatment plane. The items of analysis were included pH, SS, COD, BOD, DO, NH3-N, PO43-,nitrate-nitrogen and E-coil. Compare the both to discuss the treatment performance. The results showed that, removal of SS、BOD5、COD、NH3-N、PO43-、E-coil of Ji-tan sewage treatment plane is 88.9%、76.0%、72.8%、39.2%、18.5%、18.5%、94.4%, respectively. The operation is not stable when the loading change. The removal of SS、BOD5、COD、NH3-N、PO43-、E-coil of MBR process is 97.2%、75.2%、81.0%、87.5%、37.9%、99.4% respectively. The HRT of MBR process is decreased to 4 hr, and the water quality can achieve the recycling standard.

Using EXPONDIST (exponential distribution function) in Microsoft Excel to find the reliabilities of the components and representing the system in reliability-block diagram, and then reducing the block diagram to calculate the system reliability, this approach perform convenient and cost –effective.

As a method and technology to ensure the win-win balance of both quality and cost, value engineering can also be used as a tool to control total cost. Its emphasis, on the one hand, is the assurance of quality and function of product or service, and on the other hand, is the avoidance from unnecessary dissipation of cost, so as to achieve optimal efficiency. The major goal is to facilitate systematic analysis on characteristics of product or services for the research team, separate necessary and unnecessary functions, and develop alternative proposals for the decision-makers. Currently, most engineering documents are paper-based, causing tremendous inconvenience in the locating and browsing of the report needed for reference. Besides, the utilization is under the limitation of time and location. Document management system is comprised of digitalized databases and front-tier interface for documents of a certain type or quantity. Through the digitalization technology, paper-based data that are not easily archived and transmitted can be transformed and integrated into the digital database. Further, the accessibility of Internet beyond time and location facilitates optimal utilization of archived data. The application of value engineering in public construction has enjoyed growing popularity in Taiwan, especially in the construction of the MRT system in Taipei. However, most archived data are not integrated but only bound volumes, hampering the application of history data for future value engineering analysis. In light of this, our study intends to apply database implementation techniques, including Entity-Relationship Model, Fifth Normal Form, Microsoft’s latest .NET platform, and WEB application programs (replacing traditional ASP) to transform value engineering analysis reports into an Internet database system that allows online entry, modification, check, and search. This integration of information technology and Internet to facilitate the implementation, analysis and searching of value engineering analysis on archived data is expected to simplify data collection and analysis procedures, so as to achieve optimal utilization of previously accumulated intelligence.

More and more development projects have been seen in the corridor area next to Red and Orange Line of Kaohsiung MRT project after commence of operation of the project. Construction of basement of the said development projects is often delivered close to MRT structures and may affect safety of MRT system in operation. Therefore, authorities and operation organization of Kaohsiung MRT, have to carry out necessary review, supervision and management procedures accompanied with required regulations of protection and safety of MRT. In this study, through case study of Kaohsiung MRT and questionnaire survey, the analysis is delivered to evaluate acceptance of public for current regulations of protection and safety of MRT and also to explore whether any further improvement has to be done. Considering outcome from this study, it is concluded that (1) in general, current regulations are accepted by public; (2) the public still holds doubts in the units’ capability of crisis management once accident happens in construction activities delivered adjacent to MRT facilities; (3) the public acknowledged the necessity of implementing restrictions on the MRT construction and believe that current related regulations are reasonable. However, there are still rooms for further discussion on the legally required control for the metamorphic values; (4) a risk distribution scheme should be enacted to assess on the appropriateness of insurance purchased for construction cases proximity to MRT, such as deductible, legal cap on liability, insured period…etc.. It is suggested that the relative case of other countries shall be referred for further discussion; (5) when the contractors occasionally have difficulties in submitting monitoring report on time, the awareness to the clues of warning may be waned and delayed, resulting in the failure of seizing opportunities in advance and ensuing in the occurrences of the damages to MRT facilities. The solution lies in the exact enforcement and on-time delivering of the reports. It is strongly recommended that the related clauses should be amended to increase the penalties of violations so that the official authorities can enforce the regulation procedures on the construction units more directly and efficiently; (6) in Europe, Japan, Hong Kong or Singapore, the third impartial party is hired to ensure that the facilities will not be influenced by the adjacent construction. Their job is to independently examine the product of the prototypes and to guarantee that the construction will proceed under thoroughly investigation or censorship. Moreover, an impartial advisor could be hired for the enhancement of the quality and safety of construction.

The train movement is closely related to rolling stock system, signalling system and traction power system. This thesis investigates above-mentioned systems, the time table system of Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit System (KMRT and the power consumption of all on line vehicles which are operating in Automatic Train Operation (ATO) mode. The vehicle feeds energy back to traction power system when the vehicle brakes. This energy is sent to other vehicles running on line. Therefore, the traction power system can provide less power for the vehicles on line to save energy. The Immune Algorithm is applied to solve the optimal dwell time at each station in this thesis by using the minimum power consumption of vehicles on line as an object function. In the thesis, the Kaohsiung MRT orange line was selected for simulation. It is found the efficiency of feed back energy has been improved significantly.

This research proposes a simple way to identify the key factors influencing operations of organizations. Compared with literatures which verify their factors by reviewing past researches, this research proposes key factors from the aggregate environmental perspective, and develops ridership promotion strategies for further analysis. Kaohsiung mass rapid transit (MRT) system, which consists of red and orange lines, has operated for two years since September, 2008. It carries only about 120 thousand people per day, which is still far away from the expected volume of 360 thousand people, let alone the breakeven level of 440 thousand. Because of the accessibility of the main lines, insufficiency of its shuttle bus network, and comparatively low utilization of public transportation systems in Kaohsiung, the ridership of Kaohsiung MRT system has no significant improvement. Such situation causes continuing loss and makes KRTC fall into a financial crisis. This research use SWOT analysis to investigate the factors affecting ridership, and then pick up the crucial ones by fuzzy Delphi from those factors through expert questionnaire to confirm the criteria. Recommended ridership promotion strategies from both short-run and long-run perspectives are made through strategy diamond and TOWS matrix. Furthermore, by analyzing with Fuzzy Analytic Network Process (FANP), we can obtain the weight and order of each criterion and strategy from different experts. The result indicates that there are 15 criteria picked out by experts. Experts has defined 5 criteria which are most significant by the order of “people depend heavily on motorbike,” “government supports development of public transit,” “policy of controlling private vehicles,” “high quality of transportation service,” and “insufficient accessibility of MRT system.” The most important strategies are “re-planning the whole network of public transit” for long-run, and “coordination of transfer between public transit systems” for short-run. According to clustering analysis, the result indicates that some differences in criteria and strategies exist in different groups. The result can be provided for related authorities for improving and planning strategies in the future.

Taipei’s system has service metro rapid transportution (MRT) since March, 1996. It is an indispensable transportation and becomes the solution of the traffic jam in Taipei area. However, many incidents still happened such as personnel intrusion occasionally falling into the railway area, and etc., causing system delay and even damage losses of lives and properties. These accidents will increase along with the expanding development of the transport in network in the future, therefore the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) tries to install automatic platform gates. Furthermore, TRTC also develops a track intrusion detection system to effectively detect personnel intrude the railway area. This study applies value analysis on automatic platform gates and track intrusion detection system of MRT system. The statistical data of disaster cases happened at the platform and railway since the operation of Taipei’s metro system was gathered and calculated the disaster cost to compare and analysis with the actual operation and maintenance cost of the metro system. This helps to understand the relationship between construction cost and maintenance cost of these two systems for the future ten years.
