Os projetistas de web sites são continuamente confrontados com um desafio: tornar seus web sites atraentes aos usuários e garantir que estes sejam capazes de realizar suas interações de maneira fácil, eficiente e agradável. Em muitos casos, a rentabilidade financeira das empresas que utilizam a internet como um meio de difusão, ou até mesmo de comércio, de seus produtos está fortemente dependente da qualidade das interfaces humano-computador desenvolvidas. Nesse contexto, uma técnica de avaliação da usabilidade de web sites tem um importante papel, que é o de fornecer aos avaliadores as melhores definições para que estes sejam capazes de influir no ciclo de desenvolvimento da usabilidade dos produtos avaliados. Este trabalho propõe a definição e implementação de um protótipo para um Sistema de Monitoramento (batizado por Ergo-Monitor) para a coleta de informações que possam nortear a elaboração de laudos quantitativos acerca da usabilidade de web sites (com ênfase em sistemas de comércio eletrônico). O ambiente Ergo-Monitor baseia-se na coleta de dados diretamente das interações dos usuários que se encontram armazenados nos server log files. Após essa coleta, as ferramentas do ambiente fazem o tratamento desses dados produzindo taxas e métricas de usabilidade que devem ser, na seqüência, confrontadas pelo avaliador com valores característicos de boas e más interações para web sites que estejam na mesma categoria do web site sendo avaliado. O ambiente Ergo-Monitor apóia uma interação produtiva entre laudos quantitativos e qualitativos de avaliação de usabilidade de web sites e os laudos quantitativos produzidos pelo Ergo-Monitor podem vir a confirmar diagnósticos qualitativos elaborados previamente, ou vir a suscitar novas avaliações qualitativas da usabilidade dos web sites monitorados. Acima de tudo, o Ergo-Monitor está sendo proposto como um ambiente de avaliação "invisível" aos usuários e cujos tratamentos dos dados coletados sejam feitos de forma objetiva, automática e econômica. Assim, seus resultados não são influenciados por ruídos nas observações, como a presença de avaliadores e equipamentos, os usuários não se sentem eles mesmos o foco da avaliação e os custos de uma avaliação in loco e a posteriori podem ser minimizados.

This master‘s thesis presents the problems of EEG bio-feedback and its application for relaxing a person. It deals with the requirements of the sensing electrode and the biological signal amplifiers. The main substance of my thesis is the proposal of Alpha monitor, a device that uses the electrical activity of alpha brain waves for the realization of biological EEG feedback. The device concept takes into consideration the requirements of users’ security and also characteristics of alpha activity, which define the requirements for signal processing circuits and for propositions of the aural transducer. This master‘s thesis analyses given submission, proposes particular circuits, presents the overall electrical diagram and the list of components. The overall electrical diagram and single circuits are drawn within the EAGLE 5.7.0.

The master´s thesis presents the problems of EEG biofeedback and its application to relax people. The first part discusses the properties of EEG signal , the requirements of the standard EEG and also distribusion signal into different frequency bands. The main essence of the work is the design and realization of Alfa Monitor – a device for relaxation , that for implamanting EEG biofeedback uses acoustic form and sensing of electrical activity of brain in the region of alpha waves. The second half of the work is t focused on circuit design, using integrated circuits with component values of relevant calculations . Further, it analyzes the practical implementation of alfa monitor. The last chapter is devoted to the testing the functionality of this device.

This paper describes the Production Monitor (PM), a result of integrating very diverse hardware architectures into a compact, portable, real time airborne data monitor, and data analysis station. Flight testing of aircraft is typically conducted with personnel aboard during flight. These personnel monitor real time data, play back recorded data, and adjust test suites to certify or analyze systems as quickly as possible. In the past, Boeing has used a variety of dissimilar equipment and software to meet our testing needs. During the process of standardizing and streamlining testing processes, the PM was developed. PM combines Data Flow, VME, Ethernet, and PC architectures into a single integrated system. This approach allows PM to run applications, provide indistinguishable operator interfaces, and use data bases and peripherals common to our other systems.

This work deals with problems of EEG biofeedback and possibilities of its use in therapy. The method of EEG biofeedback helps patients to achieve the state of relaxation. It is a noninvasive treatment modality. The paper also discussed the requirements for each component unit. The main point of a design and construction of Alpha activity monitor, a device implementing EEG biofeedback focused on sensing electrical activity of the brain, specifically alpha waves. Alpha activity is specific and their parameters are taken into account when selecting components and construction equipment. Custom feedback is then for the appearance of alpha activity mediated by the headphones in acoustic form. The work also includes design of electrical circuits and electrical diagram of the overall apparatus including a list of used parts. Electrical diagrams are formed in the EAGLE 6.1.0.

The first two chapters are devoted to theoretical analysis of issues relating to portable EKG monitor. This chapters are aimed to further acquaint the reader with the issue for subsequent easier of understanding on further steps in the implementation of the device which will be contain in the following chapters. The first chapter is mainly a medical nature. We describe the anatomy and functional properties of the heart. In the next chapter we are deal with detail of electrocardiograph and the conditions for its proper function. Other chapters are devoted to the actual implementation of the facility. We are dealing with the issue of build functional portable EKG monitor. This practical part begins by fourth chapter, which consists block diagram of the device and discusses the required parameters. Next most extensive chapter is devoted to a detailed breakdown of the electrical circuit, including the calculation of the individual components. The last chapter describes the implementation and outcome measurements on test persons.

A verificação de forma independente do cálculo de dose e de unidades monitoras num plano de tratamento de IMRT é um passo importante nos procedimentos de garantia de qualidade da técnica em questão. Atualmente este verificação é baseada apenas em medidas experimentais demoradas e trabalhosas. Neste trabalho foi desenvolvido uma metodologia de cálculo de unidades monitoras de forma independente como uma nova ferramenta para garantir a qualidade e exatidão dos tratamentos de IMRT. Os valores encontrados se aproximam bastante dos valores calculados pelo sistema de planejamento utilizado, de forma que o algoritmo de cálculo desenvolvido apresentou uma concordância dentro de ± 1,8 % para uma geometria simples. Após diversos testes e com os níveis de ação devidamente estabelecidos, a verificação independente da unidade monitora para planos de tratamento de IMRT se tornará uma ferramenta efetiva e eficiente no controle de qualidade que ajuda a identificar e reduzir possíveis erros de tratamento em radioterapia. Como contribuição original deste trabalho, assegura-se aos serviços de Radioterapia a utilização da metodologia desenvolvida como ferramenta de controle de qualidade em tratamentos com IMRT. Em especial aos serviços que não dispõem de recursos econômicos para adquirirem softwares comercialmente disponíveis para o cálculo independente da unidade monitora.
Independent verification of dose calculations and monitor units settings of IMRT treatment plans is an important step in the quality assurance procedure for IMRT technique. At present, the verification is mainly based on experimental measurements, which are time consuming and laborious. In this work an independent methodology of monitor units calculation was developed as a new tool for IMRT treatments quality and precision assurance. The values found are near those calculated by the treatment planning system used, in a manner that the calculation algorithm demonstrated ± 1,8 % concordance in a simple geometry with the system. After several tests and the levels of action well established, the independent monitor units verification for IMRT treatment plans will become an effective and efficient tool in quality assurance, helping identification and the reduction of possible mistakes in radiotherapy treatments. To radiotherapy services is assured the use of the developed methodology as a tool of quality control in IMRT treatments as an original contribution of this work, specially those that do not dispose financial resources to acquire commercially available independent monitor unit calculus software.

Monitor inlining is a program rewriting technique to enforce security policy to an untrusted program. The program is modified so that the code for monitoring and policy enforcement is inserted into appropriate points. The embedded code will monitor the action of the program and alter its behavior in case of policy violation (security), otherwise interfere with it as little as possible (conservativity and transparency). For sequential and multi threaded Java-like programs, inlining algorithms have been proposed, but for languages with different concurrency model, the problem remains to be solved. This master thesis is done in the context of the HATS (Highly Adaptable and Trustworthy Software) project. A framework for ConSpec policy enforcement for the Abstract Behavioral Specification (ABS) language is devised. ABS language is the central contribution of the HATS project, its concurrency model is based on Concurrent Object Groups, Asynchronous Method Calls and Futures. In the framework, an adapted version of ConSpec is used and implemented. The inliner is implemented in Java and is applied to the HATS case study trading system, and its correctness properties are discussed.

Many companies over the years have been working with enhancing the visual effect of monitors and television with 3D glasses and such. There is a new form of 3D viewing right now; Spatial View is the one I know most about. Their technology includes a barrier panel technology which aligns the right and left eye simultaneously giving the person looking at the monitor a 3D viewing. Spatial View has developed an API that can be easily included in games and rendering applications to enable this 3D visualization and this thesis is about the computer performance cost. The API works in such a way that it takes 5 images of the current scene the camera is looking at in the game or rendering application and interlace them together to produce 1 image to be displayed on screen. Combining this with the monitor technique gives the visual effect. The 5 different camera angles that are produced can be a strain on the performance, meaning that the rendering API in this case Direct3D 9.0c has to render everything 5 times each frame. This can slow down the frame rate of the game, which is very important for the game to run smoothly. This thesis main focus is to understand the correlation between the number of camera angles and rendering time for Direct3D 9.0c, is it linear or exponential. By having access to Spatial View’s Direct3D 9.0c API, I was able to construct a test application which could answer the hypothesis. Six tests were used to investigate this with different numbers of camera angle to see the impact on rendering time. Using one, two and five camera angles for the test with large cubes (big enough to almost cover the screen) and small cubes (almost small enough to not see). After seeing the rendering time and understanding the API from Spatial View’s, a theory about reducing the rendering time arose. This theory will be explained throughout the thesis and discussed; it includes using Direct3D 10.0 with geometry instancing.

In this thesis, a Wireless Health Monitor system for novel spacesuit verification and tests is presented. This system monitors the operator's health-related vital parameters and incorporates data acquisition, collecting and processing, wireless transmission, data displaying and logging. Power-saving technics for battery-powered applications are incorporated. A proprietary communication protocol for multi-node wireless network is developed and integrated. An embedded web interface for system control and data monitoring is utilized to achieve platform independence and reliability. Calculations and simulation results for the algorithms developed for gas flow measurements are presented. Packaging for this system, sensor calibration procedures, final device characteristics, specifications and field test results are described. Finally, future work toward possible device operation, improvement, and additional features is considered.

In this thesis, a prototype ECG monitor was developed that is integrated into an elastic shirt and takes a 3-lead ECG for over 5 days. The high-quality measurements can be used to identify markers indicative of various detrimental heart conditions. Measurements recorded by the device are encrypted and stored onto a micro-SD card. Current Holter monitors are expensive and have functional lives less than 48 hours; however, extended duration monitoring has been proven more useful in diagnosis. The device designed demonstrates that ECG measurements can be taken over longer durations without sacrificing quality, comfort, or device cost.

The thesis deals with design of the device for monitoring four signals from the probes for scanning ECG, PPG and heart pressure. The thesis is mainly focused on hardware design of the device and the most important part is the selection of the storage media to which will be the data recorded and the selection of the microprocessor which has to be able to meet the requirements of the device. For the data recording is used SD card and the ARM based MCU was selected from the AT91SAM7S series. This thesis also deals with the software design for MCU which is needed to launch the device and with design of PC applications used for setting the device and for downloading the measured data. At the end there are presented results of the constructed device.

Die amtliche Flächenstatistik in Deutschland erweist sich aus verschiedenen Gründen als ergänzungsbedürftig. Die Auswertung von topographischen Geobasisdaten kann hier einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Qualifizierung der jetzigen flächenstatistischen Berichtssysteme leisten. Daraus resultiert die Motivation für den Aufbau eines Monitors der Siedlungs- und Freiraumentwicklung (IÖR-Monitor). Der Beitrag stellt nach Darstellung der Ziele, Grundlagen und Funktionen dieses Monitors erste exemplarische Ergebnisse einer Flächennutzungsanalyse Deutschlands auf Grundlage der genauesten topographischen Geobasisdaten (ATKIS Basis-DLM) vor. Dazu wurden die Siedlungs- und Verkehrsstruktur zu den Zeitschnitten 2006 und 2008 erfasst und in Form von Indikatoren auf Landes-, Kreis- und Gemeindeebene ausgewertet. Die zugrunde liegenden bundesweiten Flächennutzungsinformationen ermöglichen prinzipiell auch Indikatorberechnungen für nichtadministrative Bezugseinheiten wie Überschwemmungs- und Flusseinzugsgebiete oder quadratische Rasterzellen unterschiedlicher Größe. Die Vorteile der Nutzung topographischer Geobasisdaten für die Analyse der Flächennutzung und ihrer Entwicklung werden gegenüber der katasterorientierten Sicht der amtlichen Flächenstatistik herausgestellt. Ein Schwerpunkt des Beitrages liegt auf indikatorbasierten Siedlungs- und Verkehrsflächenanalysen. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht die Einbeziehung von Bevölkerungszahlen die Ermittlung von Dichte- bzw. Ausstattungsindikatoren (ausgewählte Flächennutzungsarten pro Einwohner). Straßen- und Schienennetzdichten können sowohl in Bezug auf die Gebietsfläche als auch nur den Siedlungsraum ausgewertet werden. Durch die georäumliche Verortung neuer Bauflächen wird zukünftig erstmals auch die Bestimmung der Relation städtebaulicher Innen- zur Außenentwicklung möglich. Die amtliche Flächenstatistik in Deutschland erweist sich aus verschiedenen Gründen als ergänzungsbedürftig. Die Auswertung von topographischen Geobasisdaten kann hier einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Qualifizierung der jetzigen flächenstatistischen Berichtssysteme leisten. Daraus resultiert die Motivation für den Aufbau eines Monitors der Siedlungs- und Freiraumentwicklung (IÖR-Monitor). Der Beitrag stellt nach Darstellung der Ziele, Grundlagen und Funktionen dieses Monitors erste exemplarische Ergebnisse einer Flächennutzungsanalyse Deutschlands auf Grundlage der genauesten topographischen Geobasisdaten (ATKIS Basis-DLM) vor. Dazu wurden die Siedlungs- und Verkehrsstruktur zu den Zeitschnitten 2006 und 2008 erfasst und in Form von Indikatoren auf Landes-, Kreis- und Gemeindeebene ausgewertet. Die zugrunde liegenden bundesweiten Flächennutzungsinformationen ermöglichen prinzipiell auch Indikatorberechnungen für nichtadministrative Bezugseinheiten wie Überschwemmungs- und Flusseinzugsgebiete oder quadratische Rasterzellen unterschiedlicher Größe. Die Vorteile der Nutzung topographischer Geobasisdaten für die Analyse der Flächennutzung und ihrer Entwicklung werden gegenüber der katasterorientierten Sicht der amtlichen Flächenstatistik herausgestellt. Ein Schwerpunkt des Beitrages liegt auf indikatorbasierten Siedlungs- und Verkehrsflächenanalysen. Darüber hinaus ermöglicht die Einbeziehung von Bevölkerungszahlen die Ermittlung von Dichte- bzw. Ausstattungsindikatoren (ausgewählte Flächennutzungsarten pro Einwohner). Straßen- und Schienennetzdichten können sowohl in Bezug auf die Gebietsfläche als auch nur den Siedlungsraum ausgewertet werden. Durch die georäumliche Verortung neuer Bauflächen wird zukünftig erstmals auch die Bestimmung der Relation städtebaulicher Innen- zur Außenentwicklung möglich. [Truncated abstract] In ecomorphological or ecophysiological studies, variation in `design? traits (e.g. size, morphology and physiology) is thought to determine variation in ecologically-relevant performance traits, which in turn determines fitness in a particular habitat (Arnold 1983). Thus, natural selection is thought to act most directly on intermediate traits such as measures of locomotory performance. This thesis examined this process in the closely related group of Australian varanids lizards (Squamata: Varanidae). Phylogenetically, varanids are divided into three major clades. Size (mass and snout-to-vent length) is strongly correlated with these three clades. Two clades, (Gouldii and Komodoensis) are large, while the third clade (Odatria) has a smaller body size. Thus, there is considerable variation in size for various species. Size varied for species by three orders of magnitude. Size is also related to two ecological characteristics, foraging mode and habitat openness. Widely-foraging species were larger than sit-and-wait strategists, while species from open habitats were larger than species from semi-open or closed habitats. However, given the tight link between size and phylogeny we cannot separate adaptation of size to ecological traits from that of phylogenetic patterns. Of interest throughout this thesis was how variations in design (e.g. morphology and physiology) were related to ecological characteristics. Since body size also influences many of these morphological and physiological characteristics it is often necessary to remove the effects of size. Three design traits were examined in detail: body dimensions, vertebral number and metabolic rates. …Curiously, no performance variable linked differences in size-free body dimensions to retreat sites. This suggests that there is either a direct link between design and ecology (e.g. dorso-ventral compression), or some unmeasured performance variable related to retreat site. Given that most performance traits are thought to involve kinematic movements of the hindlimb limb and pelvis, and these were not best related to retreat site, then a direct link between design and ecology with respect to retreat site seems possible. In summary, this thesis provides evidence not only for links between design and ecology mediated by locomotory performance traits, but also direct links between design and ecology, for Australian varanid lizards.

Resumo: Fototerapia tem sido utilizada rotineiramente para o tratamento de hiperbilirrubinemia (icterícia acentuada) em recém-nascidos, desde a descoberta que a luz pode reduzir a concentração plasmática de bilirrubina. Entretanto, a eficácia da fototerapia depende fundamentalmente da irradiância na faixa de 400 a 500 nm (parte azul da radiação visível) que alcança o recém-nascido. Se a irradiância for abaixo de um valor mínimo, o tratamento é ineficaz. Acima deste valor mínimo, obtém-se uma correlação direta entre a irradiância e o decréscimo médio da concentração de bilirrubina, até alcançar um ponto de saturação. A quantidade de radiação que alcança o paciente depende de muitos fatores. Por exemplo, o tipo de lâmpada fluorescente utilizada, a idade da lâmpada, a tensão de alimentação, a temperatura de operação das lâmpadas, a distância paciente-unidade fototerápica, o posicionamento do recém-nascido no berço, sujeiras na unidade fototerápica e outros. Por isso, recomenda-se fortemente que periodicamente sejam efetuadas medições de irradiância nas unidades fototerápicas. Neste trabalho, apresenta-se o projeto e construção de um Monitor de Radiação para Fototerapia. Este protótipo fornece a irradiância de O a 1999 vW/cm2 na faixa eficaz para o tratamento e a densidade de energIa (dose) de Q a 512 J/cm2 entregue ao pacIente durante a terapia. A primeira operação como radiômetro, é fundamental para se garantIr a efIcácIa do tratamento fototerápico; a segunda, foi idealizada pois existem muitos fatores que alteram significativamente o valor da irradiância durante o tratamento, dificultando o cálculo da dose. Os resultados demonstram que o protótipo construído, a custo relativamente baixo e com componentes e peças disponíveis no mercado nacional, exceção feita aos filtros ópticos, atende aos objetivos inicialmente propostos. Desta forma, indica-se a sua utilização rotineiramente pelos pediatras na avaliação e acompanhamento dos tratamentos fototerápicos
Abstract: Phototherapy has been used routinely for the treatment of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia (jaundice) ever since the discovery that light can reduce de serum concentration of bilirubin. However, the efficacy of phototherapy depends strongly on the irradiance in the 400 - 500 nm wavelengths region (blue in the visible spectrum) that actually reaches the newborn. lf the irradiance is below a certain minimum, the treatment may be ineffective. Above this value, a direct correlation between irradiance and mean serum bilirubin reduction is obtained, until a saturation point is reached. The actual amount af radiation that reaches dthe newborn depends on many factors. For example, the type, the age, and the operating voltage and and temperature of the light bulbs, the distance between the patient and the light source, and the position of the baby within the crib. So periodical measurements of the irradiance produced by each phototherapy unit has been recommeded strongly. Here the design and construction of a radiometer and monitor for phototherapy is presented. It is capable of measuring irradiance in the range of 0 to 1999 µW/cm2, within the region of spectrum most efficacious for phototherapy; furthermore, it can measure the radiation energy density (dosage) actually delivered to the patient durlng the entire therapy, in the range of O to 512 J/cm2. The first measurement, acting as radiometer, is essential in assuring the efficacy of the treatment, whereas the second was invented because there are many factors that can alter significantly the irradiance along the treatment, making it very difficult to calculate the actual dosage. Results of the tests proved that the prototype built is capable of providing the measurements described above and, thus, can be used routinely for checking nd monitoring phototerapy

The concept of a cognitive radio assumes that the receiver is able to determine the activity level across a large range of spectrum in order to assign a channel for its use. Hence a key function is a spectrum monitor to detect the spectrum availability as a first step. This thesis explores the requirements and design issues for the spectrum monitor receiver. The main challenge of this receiver design is to draw a spectrum map covering a wide range of frequency that is fast and accurate enough while consuming low power compared with the main transceiver circuits. The history and applications of the concept of cognitive radio (CR) are overviewed, followed by a wideband receiver architecture review, giving a wide range of scheme options for the proposed spectrum monitor. The concept of figure of merit (FoM) is then introduced. This concept helps to predict the performances versus power consumptions for active components over the next few years. By exploring the trend and relationship among FoMs, performances and time scales, a design approach is obtained to be used as a guide for system level receiver budget design. Then the spectrum monitor architecture is explored depending on the application and the figures of merits. For a representative cognitive radio application it is shown that the dual-down conversion architecture is suitable for the spectrum monitor, and the system specifications are given. Using these system specifications, the circuit level design of two of the key blocks is explored, where the requirements are significantly different from conventional designs reported in literature. A wide tuning range ring oscillator based PLL that is suitable for the frequency conversion and tuning functions is designed, fabricated and tested. A design method for high frequency on-chip bandpass filters is presented and experimentally tested. Comments on this research and future works are finally discussed.

Resumo: Este trabalho descreve o "hardware" e o "software" de um .monitor de E.C.C. baseado em microprocessador e a sua expansão em um sistema. Inicialmente descreve-se todo o "hardware" implementado, dando-se especial atenção à tecnologia do modulo de tela e posteriormente ao "software" do monitor. Em seguida são analisados os resultados dos testes em bancada e em unidades de terapia intensiva. Abstract: This work describes the Hardware and Software of a Cardiac Monitor that uses a microprocessor and its expansion in a system. The microcomputer Hardware consists of a microprocessor module, a screen module and others. The screen module is the most important module because of its requirements: No-Fade Dlsplay and Freezing Trace. The microprocessor module controls the input/output devices, the conversion of patient signal (ECC) and evaluates the HEART RATE, etc. The Cardiac Monitor was tested in the Bioenginering Laboratory (C.T.P.E.) and in several hospital environment (ICU, CCU, etc.) of Instltuto "DANTE PAZZANESE" de Cardiologia. In this work it is studied several improvements to the Monitor (ex: serial link, trends of Heart Rate,etc.) and a link between a low cost Central Monitorization Unit ( IBM-PC) and the Monitor. The second part of this work discuss about a Hardware Data Patient System of "FIFTH" Generation that links the traditional Medical tools, and intelligent Bedside Monitors with Artificial Intelligence Techniques

With the rapid development of terminal hardware, mobile users and network environments, the scale of the mobile Internet appears to be catching up with the desktop Internet. Positioning System, phone sensors and applications which are able to be used anywhere have caused the arrival and increase in usage of the smart phone, and the world has become mobile-first. Within medical fields, the smart phone is also regarded as an acceptableassistant for nurses and patients as based on the advantages of mobile Internet. It is possible for healthcare personnel to assign tasks for the patients from a different place if there is a computer connected to the Internet. In addition,the smart phones is able to act as a nurse and remind the patients to complete their tasks. Accordingly, it has become a necessity to achieve this electronic healthcare system for hospitals. The objective of this research project is to summarize the procedures of this development, and release the relevant software based on an Android platform. Additionally, a corresponding website is to be designed so that healthcare personnel are able to sign in in order to deal with the tasks. The entire system has been tested in real scenarios, at this point only by the authorbut has still not been used by other organizations. The final part of the report involves the conclusions drawn and provides suggestions for further work about the whole project.

When an error occurs in an IT system that is vital for the production of a major industry, the consequences can be great. To quickly identify and correct errors is important as a stop in a system can lead to a break in production, which is costly for the industry. Our task in this thesis has been to develop a system for ÅF that facilitates the debugging process of the system Paperline. The system's target audience is ÅF-call personnel that provides support for Paperline 24 hours a day if something goes wrong. The system consists of a Windows service, a database and a web application and is developed mainly with the techniques C#.NET, MVC 5, Google Charts, Javascript, HTML, CSS, and Entity Framework. The result of the thesis is a deployed system that facilitates the debugging process by retrieving, interpreting and presenting the log messages that PaperLine produces. The system is used by the call personnel at ÅF to easily perform troubleshooting work in Paperline.
När ett fel inträffar i ett IT-system som är vitalt för produktionsprocessen i en stor industri kan följderna vara stora. Att snabbt identifiera och åtgärda felen är viktigt eftersom ett stillastående system kan innebära stillastående produktion vilket är kostsamt för industrin. Vår uppgift i detta exjobb har varit att, för ÅF, utveckla ett system som underlättar felsökningsarbetet av systemet Paperline. Systemets målgrupp är ÅFs jourpersonal som 24 timmar om dygnet ansvarar för support av Paperline då något går fel. Systemet består av en Windows-tjänst, en databas och en webbapplikation och är utvecklat huvudsakligen med teknikerna C#.NET, MVC 5, Google Charts, Javascript, HTML, CSS och Entity Framework. Resultatet av exjobbet är ett driftsatt system som underlättar felsökningsarbetet genom att hämta, tolka och presentera de logginlägg som Paperline producerar. Systemet används av jourgruppen på ÅF för att enkelt utföra felsökningsarbete i Paperline.

Negligence of the health care representatives during emergency situations causes numerous deaths in the hospitals. Developing an efficient, quick and reliable health care monitor with emergency control can help reduce human errors. This project is based on monitoring patients admitted in hospitals. It is a health monitoring device which measures the heart rate, blood pressure and body temperature of patients. After the vitals are measured accurately, it transmits them wirelessly to a monitoring room using ZigBee. In emergency situations, abnormal vitals are sent to the doctor and the emergency contact using a GSM module. There are many monitoring systems using Bluetooth, but monitoring using ZigBee has many advantages. There is a new approach by adding a GSM module, as the vitals can be received on any telephone as a SMS. This is very useful when they need to be sent to an emergency contact or the doctor in charge. This elementary, cost efficient health monitoring system is based on a simple controller. The main result achieved by this approach is the reduction of the micro controller processing time by twelve, due to which the end to end execution time of the system is also reduced. The heart rate of the patient is also measured with medically approved equipment unlike the previous models.

An integrated 1553 Data Bus Monitor (DBM) System has been developed at the Naval Air Test Center. The system is capable of monitoring six 1553A or B channels and provides, in separate PCM streams, selected parameter data and all message traffic on the data bus (thruput). Thruput data can be split to two tape tracks per channel for bandwidth conservation. Selected parameter formats can be entered at the flight line with a hand-held programmer which communicates to the DBM via an RS-232 interface. PCM outputs are available for telemetry as well as for on-board recording. Analog and discrete data is incorporated in the system with A/D inputs, parallel inputs, or serial entry of PCM data from a remote PCM system. A 1553 remote terminal provides data to the F-18 mission computer. Existing systems are being used on AMRAAM Development in the F-18 and in follow-on F-18 development at the Naval Air Test Center.

Normas podem ser usadas em sistemas multi-agentes para controlar o comportamento de agentes aut?nomos. Uma entidade autoritativa pode aplicar san??es em agentes que n?o est?o seguindo as normas, com o objetivo de garantir que a sociedade se comporte de uma maneira desejada; isso requer a detec??o de viola??es de normas com um mecanismo de monitoramento. A maioria das abordagens existentes para garantir o cumprimento de normas assume que o sistema pode ser totalmente observ?vel; isso geralmente n?o ? poss?vel em ambientes reais. Nossa principal contribui??o para endere?ar esse problema ? a formaliza??o do problema de aloca??o de monitores em um sistema normativo multi-agente sob restri??es or?ament?rias. Mais especificamente, n?s consideramos um sistema contendo (1) um conjunto de monitores poss?veis que podem determinar o estado de por??es de um dom?nio; (2) custos para a aloca??o desses monitores; e (3) um conjunto de normas que, se violadas, resultam em uma san??o. N?s procuramos identificar a combina??o de monitores que maximiza a utilidade do sistema, comparando solu??es aproximadas para o problema que usam diferentes heur?sticas, e empiricamente demonstrando sua efici?ncia.
Norms can be used in multi-agent systems to regulate behavior of self-interested agents. An authoritative entity can apply sanctions to non-compliant agents in order to ensure society functions in some desirable way, which requires the detection of norm violations with some monitoring mechanism. The majority of existing approaches to norm enforcement assumes that the system is fully observable; this is often not possible in realistic environments. Our main contribution to address this issue is the formalization of the problem of monitor placement within a normative multi-agent system under budgetary constraints. More specifically we consider a system containing (1) a set of possible monitors able to determine the state of portions of the domain; (2) costs for deploying the monitors; and (3) a set of norms which, if violated, result in a sanction. We seek to identify which combination of monitors maximizes the system?s utility, evaluating approximate solutions using several heuristics, empirically demonstrating their efficiency.

With the development of posibilities of image processing, stereoscopy, prices of web cameras and power of computers an opportunity to multiply an experience with working with 3D programs showed. From the picture from webcamera an estimation of a pose of user's head can be made. According to this pose a view on 3D scene can be changed. Then, when user moves his head, he will have a feeling as if monitor was a window through which one can see the scene behind. With the system which is the result of this project it will be possible to easily and cheaply add this kind of behaviour to any 3D application.

At the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world’s largest and highest energy particle accelerator, ion bunches circulate in two counter-rotating beams and are brought into collision. Each bunch is confined within a bucket by the longitudinal focusing effect of the radio frequency (RF) cavities. The RF period is 2.5 ns, while the minimum bunch spacing is 25 ns. Thus, 9 out of every 10 buckets should be empty, as well as additional gaps to allow for the rise-time of injection and dump kickers. In practice, however, small numbers of particles can occupy these supposedly empty buckets, causing problems for machine protection and for the absolute calibration of the LHC’s luminosity. The Longitudinal Density Monitor (LDM) is a new monitor, designed to measure the longitudinal distribution of particles in the LHC with a sufficiently high dynamic range to quantify the relative particle population in the supposedly empty buckets. A non-interceptive measurement is made possible by the use of synchrotron radiation (SR). Single photon counting with an avalanche photo-diode operating in Geiger mode allows a very high dynamic range to be achieved despite the low levels of light available. The imperfect response of the avalanche photo-diode is compensated using a specially designed correction algorithm which reduces noise and distortion to a minimum. This work presents the design, implementation and operation of the LDM. Signal correction methods are discussed with reference to the deadtime and afterpulsing of the avalanche photodiode, and the analysis of the LDM data for use in LHC luminosity calibration is explained. Experimental results with both proton and heavy ion beams are shown illustrating the LDM‘s exceptional performance, combining a high dynamic range of 105 with a 90 ps time resolution. Finally, a novel scheme to extend the dynamic range by several more orders of magnitude is presented.

L’elaborato si occupa di analizzare caratteristiche e funzionamento del dispositivo monitor\defibrillatore semi-automatico in uso sui mezzi per i servizi di emergenza sanitaria. In una prima fase introduce l’argomento con cenni di anatomia e fisiologia cardiaca, meccanismi di conduzione elettrica e meccanica del cuore e successivamente si concentra sull’analisi dell’evoluzione tecnologica dei defibrillatori portatili, le patologie indicate per il suo utilizzo e le funzioni principali del monitor/defibrillatore semi-automatico. A questo proposito d si osservano la possibilità di rilevare il tracciato elettrocardiografico nelle diverse derivazioni e visionarlo in tempo reale direttamente sullo schermo di cui è provvisto il dispositivo, e la tecnologia di elaborazione automatica del tracciato per il riconoscimento dei ritmi cardiaci defibrillabili e non defibrillabili, monitoraggio dei parametri vitali e il sistema di defibrillazione. Vengono anche approfondite le funzioni accessorie annesse al dispositivo come il sistema di assistenza alla rianimazione cardiopolmonare e la gestione dei dati rilevati dal paziente. Inoltre, si allega un’intervista ad un utente utilizzatore che contribuisce a sottolineare l’importanza di questa tecnologia nell’uso quotidiano dei soccorritori.

Os equipamentos de radiação X, por estarem ligados à rede elétrica, podem apresentar flutuações na intensidade de seus feixes de radiação. Essas variações na intensidade, podem, por sua vez, modificar a taxa de kerma no ar produzida por este feixe de radiação. Em um laboratório de calibração de instrumentos, onde são realizadas calibrações de diversos equipamentos detectores de radiação, utilizados principalmente em clínicas ou hospitais, essa possível variação na intensidade do feixe de radiação pode causar um erro na determinação da dose absorvida. As câmaras de ionização monitoras são utilizadas para verificar a constância da intensidade de feixes de radiação, e fornecer uma correção para possíveis oscilações. Neste trabalho foram projetadas, construídas e caracterizadas câmaras de ionização monitoras para feixes de radiação X. As câmaras de ionização desenvolvidas possuem formato inovador, anelar, com eletrodos de alumínio ou de grafite. Essas câmaras de ionização anelares apresentam a vantagem de não interferirem no feixe direto de radiação. Foi ainda construída uma câmara de ionização com volume duplo e eletrodos de grafite, similar à câmara de ionização monitora comercial utilizada no Laboratório de Calibração de Instrumentos do Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares. Essas câmaras de ionização foram testadas em diversos feixes de radiação padronizados e seus desempenhos foram comparados aos de câmaras de ionização comerciais. Os resultados obtidos mostram que duas dentre as quatro câmaras de ionização desenvolvidas apresentaram desempenho comparável ao das câmaras de ionização comerciais testadas. Além de apresentarem bons resultados, as câmaras de ionização desenvolvidas foram feitas artesanalmente e utilizando materiais de baixo custo, que são facilmente encontrados no mercado.
X radiation equipment may show fluctuations in the radiation beam intensity, as they are connected to the power net. These intensity variations can, in turn, modify the air kerma rate produced by this radiation beam. In a calibration laboratory, where radiation detectors (from clinics and hospital services) are calibrated, variations in the radiation beam intensity may cause an error in the absorbed dose determination. The monitor ionization chambers are used to verify the radiation beam intensity constancy, and to provide a correction for possible fluctuations. In this work, monitor ionization chambers for X radiation beams were designed, assembled and characterized. The developed ionization chambers have an innovative design, ring-shaped, with aluminium or graphite electrodes. These ring-shaped ionization chambers have the advantage of not interfering in the direct radiation beams. A double-volume ionization chamber with graphite electrodes was also developed. This ionization chamber is similar to the commercial monitor ionization chamber used in the Calibration Laboratory of the Instituto de Pesquisas Energéticas e Nucleares. All developed ionization chambers were tested in several standardized radiation beams and their performances were compared with those of commercial ionization chambers. The results show that two of the four ionization chambers developed showed performance comparable to that of the commercial ionization chambers tested. Besides presenting good results, the ionization chambers were designed and manufactured using low cost materials, which are easily found on the Brazilian market.
