Abstract (sommario):
Humanistic Buddhism provides a profound and unique perspective on exploring the path of holistic health. Smṛtyupasthāna (Four Mindfulnesses) is a basic meditation method in Buddhism, which involves continuous awareness and observation of four different aspects: (1) Kāyānupassanā (Body Mindfulness), (2) Vedanānupassanā (Mindfulness of Feelings), (3) Cittānupassanā (Mindfulness of Mind) and (4) Dhammānupassanā (Mindfulness of Dharma). Mindfulness is an effective way to manage worries, allowing us to be free from worries, stay away from upside-down dreams, and achieve a state of freedom. This article proposes a model of humanistic Buddhism and holistic health: (1) Kāyānupassanā and Physical Well-being, (2) Vedanānupassanā and Spiritual Well-being, (3) Cittānupassanā and Mental Well-being, and (4) Dhammānupassanā and Social Well-being. The Four Mindfulness Practices of Humanistic Buddhism provide us with valuable tools and ways to improve the holistic health and cope with the challenges and difficulties in life. Through spiritual practice and practice, we can achieve holistic health at the individual, physical, spiritual and social levels.

Abstract (sommario):
Previous research has confirmed that mindfulness may decrease negative emotions in college students. However, there has been less focus on the mechanism of mindfulness’s effect on negative emotions. This study explores the relationship between mindfulness and negative emotions and examines the mediating role of perceived social support and interpersonal sensitivity among college students in China. A total of 386 college students (65.8% female, 34.2% male) completed measures of The Five Facet Mindfulness Questionnaire (FFMQ), The 21-item Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), The Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and The Interpersonal Sensitivity Measure (IPSM). Using model 6 in SPSS PROCESS macro 3.3 software, we found: (1) mindfulness was negatively related to negative emotions; (2) interpersonal sensitivity mediated the relationship between mindfulness and negative emotions; (3) mindfulness was negatively related to negative emotions through the chain mediating of perceived social support and interpersonal sensitivity. Mindfulness, perceived social support, interpersonal sensitivity, and negative emotions in college students exerted significant associations with each other. Students can try mindfulness training to increase the perception of social support, reduce interpersonal sensitivity, and reduce negative emotions. The findings of this study may shed new light on the prevention and treatment of negative emotions among college students.

Abstract (sommario):
Due to a lack of engagement with the embodied dimensions of mindfulness, third-wave CBT has misleadingly construed mindfulness interventions as cognitive restructuring and behavioural modification agents. When the relationship between the mind and body is understood according to the model of embodied cognition, however, mindfulness’s process of change can be better articulated. We propose a novel understanding of the ‘decentring’ skills fostered through mindfulness via non-conceptual attention to the processes underlying cognition. Mindfulness, understood as a skilful mode of embodied social cognition, cultivates operative intentionality whereby attention to the lived body, and one’s internal representations, allows one to intervene in the complex feedback structure of the mind???body system, influencing cycles of organismic self-regulation. Mindfulness-based exposure therapies, on this model, are understood not cognitively or behaviourally, but through insights generated via the practitioner’s orientation towards internal representations, and how these habituated patterns of representation generate transformations in their exteroceptive, pre-reflective enactment of both self and world perception.

Abstract (sommario):
Mindfulness occurs in different populations, regardless of their religions, ages, and cultures, but the studies on Muslim backgrounds are insufficient. This study aims to empirically investigate mindfulness's benefits on academic outcomes among Yemeni students. A total of 160 Yemeni students were recruited to complete the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI-SS) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and divided into two groups (experimental group = 80, control group = 80). The experimental group received mindfulness training, while the control group did not receive any training. After the experiment, both groups completed the questionnaires again. The results revealed that the experimental group's emotional exhaustion, cynicism, lack of academic efficacy, and perceived stress were decreased compared to the control group. We concluded that mindfulness meditation training decreased academic burnout and stress among Yemeni students. We suggest mindfulness meditation training could be a good program for decreasing academic problems among Muslim students.

Abstract (sommario):
Injured athletes often face performance challenges upon returning to the field, influenced by external factors and negative emotions. This study investigates how mindfulness is associated with perfectionism, exercise self-efficacy, and competitive state anxiety in athletes recovering from injuries. Using snowball sampling and convenience sampling methods with a cross-sectional dataset of 359 participants from southern China (collected between October and November 2022), we employed structural equation modelling to analyse the relationship between mindfulness and competitive state anxiety in returning athletes. The results reveal that mindfulness interventions enhance exercise self-efficacy, boost task-related confidence, reshape perfectionism towards a positive outlook, and decrease competitive state anxiety. This study establishes positive correlations between perfectionism and competitive state anxiety, and a negative correlation between exercise self-efficacy and competitive state anxiety. Moreover, exercise self-efficacy and perfectionism partially mediate mindfulness’s positive impact on competitive state anxiety. In conclusion, this research highlights mindfulness’s potential to alleviate perfectionism and competitive state anxiety while enhancing exercise self-efficacy among athletes on the road to recovery.

Abstract (sommario):
This study aims to assess parental perceptions of physician mindfulness in their daily practice in the Indian context. After conducting an in-depth analysis of the existing publications, literature, physicians' mindfulness was assessed by administering the MAAS questionnaire, and parental perceptions were evaluated using the 21-item general communication subscale of the Personal Processes of Care Instrument. The MAAS was selected for its extensive use and validated efficacy in measuring mindfulness, particularly on moment-to-moment awareness of self-related experiences. This study involved 40 paediatricians and 40 parents, sampled conveniently, to assess internal consistency, covariate analysis, and descriptive statistics. Mindfulness was analysed via chi-square tests, while parental perceptions were examined through t-tests; both executed using Microsoft Excel 2011. Our analysis revealed that paediatricians, regardless of age or gender, demonstrated mindfulness. From the parents' perspective, there are significant areas for improvement, particularly in the physicians' explanations of diagnosis, medications, and responsiveness to parents' concerns. Additionally, addressing disrespectful behaviour by clinic assistants toward the parents emerged as a primary concern, highlighting the need for efforts toward improvement. Our research underscores the critical importance of mindfulness in paediatric practice and identifies key areas for improvement to enhance trust in physician-patient-centred disease management. It scrutinized the effects of physicians’ mindfulness on parental satisfaction during their child's medical condition consultations. The findings have further deepened our comprehension of mindfulness’s pivotal role and impact on well-being, ultimately seeking to expedite the healing process among children while nurturing positive engagements with physicians and clinic staff.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Purpose This study aims to investigate the role of a mindfulness intervention in supporting employees during organisational uncertainty. Design/methodology/approach The authors used a qualitative approach involving 17 individual interviews and one focus group discussion from two organisations in the Czech Republic. Participants completed an eight-week mindfulness-based intervention. The data was analysed through the lens of job demands and resources. Findings The thematic analysis revealed that employees faced significant demands, including high workload, stress, and work-home conflict, exacerbated by organisational changes and the pandemic. The mindfulness intervention provided critical resources, such as stress-reducing techniques, social support, a sense of coherence, and a positive focus, which helped participants navigate these challenges. However, the intervention itself introduced new demands, such as time commitment and emotional effort, highlighting the dual nature of interventions during disruptions. Practical implications The authors aim to inform practitioners how mindfulness interventions for employees must be designed and ethically implemented to support them in times of uncertainty. Specifically, the authors emphasise the need for interventions to be context-sensitive. Ethical mindfulness implementation requires that interventions remain voluntary and accessible, preventing situations where employees feel pressured to participate as a means of demonstrating resilience. Originality/value This research adds to the field of workplace learning by demonstrating how mindfulness interventions can serve as experiential learning opportunities that build employee resilience and coping skills during organisational turmoil. It highlights mindfulness’s dual role as both a personal development tool and a structured learning process that enhances employees’ capacity to navigate change and uncertainty.

Abstract (sommario):
Mindfulness, which is best understood as nonjudgmental, present-centered awareness, originated in ancient Eastern traditions but has been adapted for use in Western, secular settings. The present article reviews the quickly burgeoning field of mindfulness research for teachers of psychology, including the most common mindfulness-based treatments and exercises. It also includes an overview of settings outside of traditional mental health treatment in which mindfulness has been used. Because mindfulness is appropriate within the context of a variety of courses, we have also included recommendations for teaching psychology students about mindfulness.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACT Mindfulness has emerged as a factor that has been suggested, taught and applied to people on the state of well-being and happiness throughout the ages. Today, it is on the way to become an approach that aims to improve both personal practices and organizational cognitive processes. Although it first appeared as a Buddhist teaching, John Kabat-Zinn, who took spiritual teachings out of it and turned it into a secular protocol, predicted that modern science would also take this concept seriously, started to examine mindfulness clinically in Western medicine and pioneered its use in the treatment of psychological disorders. In this study, the concept of mindfulness is discussed in the axis of mindfulness in the workplace, and its importance in terms of success of organizations is examined. Explanations were made in the context of awareness strategies that form the basis for mindfulness and the theoretical foundations, dimensions and basic attitudes on which it is based. Evaluations of the works reached within the scope of national and international literature review were also made within the scope of this study. Within the scope of the study, suggestions were also made to practitioners and researchers working in the field of organizational behavior.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of mindfulness therapy-based sex therapy in improving sexual self-efficacy and sexual quality of life in couples experiencing sexual dysfunction. Methods and Materials: A quasi-experimental design with a control group and an experimental group was employed. The study sample consisted of 30 couples (15 couples in each group) experiencing sexual dysfunction, who were recruited from counseling centers in Karaj, Iran. The experimental group underwent 8–10 sessions of mindfulness therapy-based sex therapy, while the control group received no intervention. Data were collected using two validated instruments: the Sexual Self-Efficacy Questionnaire and the Sexual Quality of Life Questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS version 24, with multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) to assess the effectiveness of the intervention. Findings: The results showed that the experimental group demonstrated significant improvements in both sexual self-efficacy and sexual quality of life from pre-test to post-test and follow-up, compared to the control group. The differences between pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental group were statistically significant (p < 0.001) and remained stable during the follow-up phase. The control group showed minimal changes over time. These findings suggest that mindfulness therapy-based sex therapy effectively enhances both sexual self-efficacy and quality of life in couples with sexual dysfunction. Conclusion: Mindfulness therapy-based sex therapy is a promising intervention for improving sexual self-efficacy and quality of life in couples facing sexual dysfunction. By addressing cognitive mindfulnesss, mindfulness, and emotional expression, the therapy provides comprehensive support for overcoming sexual challenges and enhancing relational satisfaction.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
This article explores the integration of mindfulness meditation and character strengths. Beyond simply focusing attention, mindfulness involves the cultivation of attention infused by an unconditional friendliness and interest. Universally valued character strengths (Peterson & Seligman, 2004) are useful constructs for such an infusion. Most mindfulness approaches and programs deal with managing a problem or psychological disorder; far less discussion, empirical work, and scholarly papers have addressed mindfulness from a positive psychology perspective that explicitly attempts to increase what is good. We review research and practice considerations for such an integration and discuss how character strengths enhance mindfulness (i.e. Strong Mindfulness) by dealing with barriers to mindfulness practice and augmenting mindful living in walking, driving, consuming, speaking, and listening.

Abstract (sommario):
Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) is highly prevalent worldwide, and so far incurable, as one of its main symptoms is rigidity in behavior and mind. Cognitive flexibility is considered to be highly relevant to ASD. ASD afflicts individuals and their families severely, which can cause a broad range of social problems. For its incurable nature, alleviating its symptoms or discovering its cures is highly significant. The pathogenic factors of ASD are complex, and the inner differences among individuals with ASD vary a lot. ASD require individualized long-term intervention, including education and rehabilitation training based on wholesome assessments of an individuals psychological development, behavior, demand, and adaptive social capability. An extensive range of interventions is researched and implemented practically. However, the inherent flaws of these interventions are so far unsolved. In this article, mindfulness is discussed as a new intervention to gain a deeper insight into mindfulnesss effects on the cognitive flexibility of ASD children. Previous articles are reviewed, and though a relationship between mindfulness and cognitive flexibility in ASD is complex and indirect, the conclusion that mindfulness train is beneficial to the cognitive flexibility of ASD children is drawn eventually. Relevant research directions are recommended according to the conclusion.

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of this study was to explore the development and relationship between mindfulness and executive function (EF) in students in grades 4–5 and investigate mindfulness training’s impact on mindfulness and EF in grade 4 students in rural China. Study 1 measured mindfulness and EF in Chinese students in grades 4–5. Differences in the level of mindfulness among children in grade 4 (n = 159) and grade 5 (n = 187) in rural China were analyzed by multi-factor analysis of variance. Correlation and hierarchical multiple regression analyses were used to explore the relationship between mindfulness and EF in grade 4 (n = 103) and grade 5 (n = 124). Study 2 included 45 4th graders with a general mindfulness level, with 21 children in the experimental group receiving 12 mindfulness training lessons. The mindfulness and EF scores of individuals in the mindfulness and control groups were tested before and after the intervention. Study 1 showed that 4th graders had significantly lower mindfulness scores than 5th graders. EFs in grades 4–5 were significantly correlated with mindfulness. Study 2 revealed that mindfulness training significantly improved the experimental group’s mindfulness and working memory. A non-significant improvement in inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility was observed. There was a significant difference in mindfulness in grades 4 and 5 of Chinese rural upper-grade elementary school. Children who perform well in mindfulness also perform well in EFs. Mindfulness training improved the mindfulness and working memory of 4th graders in rural China with a general mindfulness level.

Abstract (sommario):
Background Mindfulness is a state of nonjudgmental attentiveness to moment-to-moment experiences. Interest in implementing mindfulness-based interventions is growing. Objective We investigated the benefit of a short mindfulness exercise for mindfulness novices in a performance situation. Method Participants ( N = 97) engaged in a mindfulness or relaxation exercise and subsequently worked on an achievement test. Results Participants in the mindfulness condition had fewer distracting evaluative thoughts during and experienced less negative affect after the achievement test. Participants also exerted less self-control (vagal withdrawal measured via heart rate variability) during the mindfulness exercise than on the relaxation exercise. In a subsample ( n = 84), selected on the basis of serious involvement in the exercise, mindfulness eliminated the negative association between distracting evaluative thoughts and performance. Furthermore, beneficial effects of mindfulness on distractive thoughts were found for participants low but not high in trait mindfulness. The mindfulness exercise did not influence performance. Conclusion In performance contexts, even brief mindfulness exercises may have beneficial effects for mindfulness novices and people low in trait mindfulness.

Abstract (sommario):
Mindfulness is everywhere, from the cover of TIME magazine to segments on every major news network. With such popularity in mainstream culture for mindfulness, it was only a matter of time before psychology embraced the approach by offering a burst of mindfulness-based therapies, such as mindfulness-based stress reduction, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, and mindfulness-based eating awareness therapy. These approaches claim mindfulness as a central theme, yet debate has grown over the role of mindfulness in psychotherapy and biofeedback, and there is growing concern about secularizing a philosophy originating in Asia over 2,000 years ago. This paper will define mindfulness from both traditional and modern perspectives, review the skills and practice of mindfulness, examine the connection of mindfulness and health, and show how, as a process, mindfulness is incorporated in virtually most forms of psychotherapy as well as biofeedback training.

Abstract (sommario):
The use of mindfulness-based interventions in many areas is increasing day by day. Having knowledge of the components of mindfulness is also important to know the mechanisms in which mindfulness-based interventions are effective. This study has aimed to examine potential attentional mechanisms of mindfulness. In this context, mindfulness has been defined and attention and attention models have been briefly discussed in the study. Then, the relationship between mindfulness and attention has been examined, and previous research findings examining mindfulness and attention are included. The studies on attention and mindfulness seem to have more inconsistent results when conducted with adults, whereas the studies in adolescents and children seem to have more consistent results revealing that mindfulness-based interventions improve the attentional skills of the youth. Knowing the relationship between mindfulness and attention will aid to maximize the efficacy of mindfulness-based interventions and it will be a crucial step in identifying the people that might benefit from mindfulness-based interventions
