Partant de l’inscription « populaire » de la chanson, cette thèse vise à questionner les dynamiques de représentation du peuple engendrées par sa présence dans la filmographie portugaise, du cinéma muet des années 1920 jusqu’au cinéma contemporain. A travers une diversité de séquences chantées (fado, etc.), elle fait ressortir des figures saillantes du peuple, significatives de ses différents moments politiques. Elle se penche tout autant sur la construction, souvent incomplète et contradictoire, des prétendus topos de la « portugalité », hérités du XIXe siècle et relayés par la propagande de la longue dictature, que sur les modalités de leur critique. En particulier à travers la quête de modernité du cinéma, qui, à partir des années 1950, montre le peuple du « pays réel », contre l’essentialisme de la « nation » séculaire bientôt ébranlée par la Révolution des Œillets (1974). Sur la base d’un corpus d’une trentaine de films, l’analyse - chronologique - apporte un nouvel éclairage sur la dimension sonore du cinéma portugais, et met en avant certains films contemporains de ce point de vue très significatifs, tels ceux de Miguel Gomes.Ce travail, qui s’inscrit dans le renouveau récent de l’historiographie de ce cinéma, s’appuie sur les apports des sound studies et sur certaines théories esthétiques (Rancière, Deleuze). Il vise à enrichir les outils d’une politique de la chanson au cinéma, en dépassant les approches exclusivement textuelle, esthétique ou scénaristique, qui réduisent parfois ces « moments musicaux » complexes et émancipateurs (Amy Herzog) à leur supposé conformisme divertissant, censé servir la mise en scène univoque d’un peuple sentimentaliste et dépolitisé
Questioning the “popular” anchoring of the song, this dissertation aims to shed light on the dynamics of the people’s representation, throughout the history of Portuguese cinema, from silent cinema of the 1920’s to contemporary productions. Eclectic song sequences (fado, etc.) punctuate this cinematography, triggering different representations of the people, depending on its political moments. On the one hand, this work proposes to bring to light the construction, often incomplete and contradictory, of the supposedly topos of the “portugality”, inherited from the XIXe century and relayed by the regime’s propaganda. On the other hand, it analyses the ways these stereotypes have been criticized, particularly through the quest for modernity of the late 1950’s cinema, which tries to show the people in relation to the “real country”, as opposed to the essentialist age-old nation that will be undermined by the Carnation revolution (1974). Covering thirty films, the chronological case analysis contributes to the sound studies of Portuguese cinema, and highlights some particularly significant contemporary films like those of Miguel Gomes. This thesis, which falls within the recent renewal of Portuguese cinema studies, bases its approach on Sound studies contributions and aesthetic theories (Rancière, Deleuze). It aims to broaden the tools of song politics applied to film music, beyond the strictly textual, aesthetic or script issues, which often reduce these “musical moments” to a conformist entertainment, spreading the image of a sentimentalist and depoliticized people, in spite of their complexity and ability to empowerment (Amy Herzog)

La question du meme et de l'autre concerne aussi bien chez l'individu qu'en general, tous les moments de la vie et tous ses aspects. Ainsi, nous examinons la confrontation a la mort du sujet et de celle d'autrui comme chez unamuno. Nous retrouvons d'ailleurs, cela, dans les trois oeuvres etudiees de unamuno. Et ces themes dans les recueils poetiques de machado. La question du meme et de l'autre est inseparable de celle d'une theorie de la connaissance et du scepticisme machadien. C'est aussi dans le temps qui est une composante du dasein heideggerien que le meme est confronte a l'autre. Tout ceci aboutit a une metaphysique de la paix et a une theorie de l7eros de unamuno et de machado qui apportent beaucoup de novations. Nous examinons dans la troisieme partie apres un prolepsis et des prolegomenes, la figure centrale du christ, l'aspect messianique du redempteur, son apport au religere d'une religion revelee, puis nous comparons trois niveaux d'etude, ceux de la poesis, de la mathesis et du religere chez les deux createurs. The question of the same and of the other concernes also in the individual that in general all the moments of life and in all of its angles. So we examine the confrontation to the death of the subject and of the othei like in unamuno. We find too, this, in the three creations studed of unamuno and the themes in the poetic creations of machado. The question of the same and of the other is inseparable of the one of a theory of knowledge and of the scepticism of machado. It's also in the time which is a composant of the dasein of heidegger that the same is opposate to the other. All of this come to a metaphysic of peace and to a theory of eros of unamuno and machado which brings many novations. We examine in the third part, after a prolepsis and some prolegomens, the face central of christ, the aspect messianic of the redeemer, his contribution of a religion revealed, then we compare three degrees of study, of poesis, of mathesis and of religere of the both creators. Auteur espagnol, Miguel Hernandez doit sa foi chrétienne à l'éducation basée sur les principes catholiques inculqués dès son jeune âge à la fois par ses parents et les Jésuites. Cette éducation lui a permis de forger sa personnalité et elle est devenue sa principale source d'inspiration. Toutefois, même si sa rencontre avec des poètes rassemblés autour de Pablo Neruda à Madrid l'a amené à changer d'idéologie, sa foi demeure intacte
The spanish author, Miguel Hernandez owes his christian faith to his education. In fact, in his ounger days, the author's parents and the Jesuits taught him catholic principles. Hernandez's catholic education allows him not only to mould his character, but it also becomes a main source of inspiration for him. And even though his encounter with the poets gathered around Pablo Neruda in Madrid leads him to change his ideology, his faith remains unchanged

L'un de nos objectifs est d'exposer la manière dont Kierkegaard fut reçu par Unamuno. Ce premier travail comprenant la récension exhaustive des références Kierkegaardiennes retrouvées dans le corpus unamunien s'avère nécessaire afin d'illustrer par des bases solides le lien entre ces deux philosophes. Dans cette relation qui ne peut être qu'à sens unique, puisque Kierkegaard (1813-1855) et Unamuno (1864-1936) ne sont pas contemporains, le penseur espagnol nous tourne vers le philosophe danois par sa façon insistante d'inviter ses lecteurs et correspondants à le connaitre, à se pencher comme lui sur la vie et les oeuvres de Kierkegaard qu'il ira jusqu'à appeler "mon frère". Notre étude se poursuit par l'exposé des différences et similitudes vis-à-vis de la seule question essentielle pour nos deux penseurs: comment se comprendre soi-même dans l'existence. Kierkegaard va s'efforcer d'y répondre par une philosophie où l'homme est toujours contemplé comme "un existant" et Unamuno par une philosophie de la vie et un rejet catégorique du néant. Ils ont en commun et leur refus de laisser dissoudre leur personnalité dans quelque instance générale que ce soit, et leur foi comme passion dans la vie.

Georges bernanos (1888-1948, francais) et miguel de unamuno (1864-1936, espagnol), partageant le meme sentiment tragique de l'existence, ont confronte les illusions et les mensonges de leur siecle a la seule question du destin metaphysique de l'homme. La foi dans le dieu chretien leur est apparue comme la seule reponse a l'angoisse et a la tentation du desespoir. Deux grandes oeuvres (romans, pamphlets, articles de presse, essai philosophique, theatre, poesie) explorent tous les domaines de l'action humaine (philosophie, politique, individu, societe, religion) a la lumiere de cette exigence. Une distance essentielle differencie le croyant (bernanos), anime d'une foi surnaturelle, et <> (unamuno), qui doute de l'existence de dieu: cette distance distingue deux visions du monde et de deux << poetiques devant l'absolu >>, qui se rencontrent sans se rejoindre. Premiere partie : biographie intellectuelle (affrontement de la quete d'absolu aux realites historiques). Deuxieme partie : etude des univers romanesques (theatre du monde, rapport realite/fiction, thematique du reve, l'ecriture chretienne comme agonie, l'appel au lecteur). Troisieme partie : <> : ecriture polemique (pamphlet, satire, essai philosophique) ; dialectique des genres litteraires chez unamuno et bernanos (le poete et le croyant).

Cette étude est une approche idéologique de la question indienne en Amérique latine, en général, et au Guatemala, en particulier, du point de vue de l'auteur qui aborde la question selon une conception matérialiste de l'histoire. L'auteur, en effet, part d'une analyse profonde de la structure socio-économique du Guatemala, mettant en évidence les contradictions fondamentales qui la caractérisent sur le double plan national et international. Celles-ci se définissent en termes de colonialismes interne et externe qui supposent des relations de domination et d'exploitation qui constituent, en définitive, la problématique essentielle de la société guatémaltèque. En posant au centre de celle-ci le problème économique qui affecte toute la nation par-dessus ses composantes ethniques, Asturias analyse principalement les causes du malaise social guatémaltèque, ce qui l'amène naturellement à dénoncer l'exploitation féroce des monopoles étrangers opérant sur le territoire national et, partant, à démystifier la nature des relations qui lient les différents groupes sociaux dans cette structure particulièrement complexe. Ainsi il arrive à démontrer objectivement la source du mal ou les causes fondamentales du problème indien intimement lié à la problématique sociale guatémaltèque. Ce diagnostic rigoureux de la problématique sociale guatémaltèque l'amène conséquemment à proposer une thérapeutique adéquate aux maux qui accablent la société toute entière et principalement les classes défavorisées. De la toute son œuvre- les romans de la trilogie bananière particulièrement - se révèle comme un véritable réquisitoire anti-impérialiste, réclamant vivement la souveraineté nationale bafouée et l'indépendance économique réelle de laquelle dépend inconditionnellement la solution du problème national et, par conséquent, celle de l'éternel problème indien. Mais l'intérêt du discours asturien et son originalité également résident fondamentalement dans le fait que s'inspirant de la réalité socio-économique du Guatemala, il arrive à démystifier le problème indien, en démontrant par des faits concrets que le problème de l'indien n'est pas de race ou de culture comme on l'a si souvent prétendu, mais simplement de classe, et donc économique.

La thèse porte sur la première partie des Guerras civiles de Granada de Ginés pérez dont le titre complet est de "Historia de los bandos de los Zegris y Abencerrajes caballeros Moros de Granada". Elle se compose d'une étude historique et littéraire suivie d'une édition annotée du texte de l'édition princeps imprimée en 1595 par Miguel Jimeno Sanchez. A partir des chroniques et des romances de la frontière et maureques, ginès Pérez de Hita a comosé une fiction romanesque qui a pour toile de fond les luttes intestines du royaume nasride avant 1492. [. . . ]La thèse comprend trois volumes dont le premier contient l'étude préliminaire se compose de trois parties. La première partie sur la biographie de Ginès Pérez de Hita et sur les rapports entre les rapports civiles et le courant "maurophilie littéraire" ainsi que sur la réception du texte. [. . . ]L'édition annotée du texte qui figure dans le deuxième volume de la thèse est fondée sur l'édition princeps, parue en 1595 à Saragosse. Le principal but, dans cette nouvelle édition des Guerras civiles, a été d'offrir au lecteur un texte enrichi pour la première fois de nombreuses notes explicatives, notamment en ce qui concerne les termes, les prénoms, les patronymes et toponymes d'origine arabe. Trois annexes ouvrent le troisième volume de la thèse. La première est un petit dictionnaire de patronymes et toponymes arabes figurant dans le texte. La seconde présente la génealogie des rois de la dynastie nasride. Le troisième offre au lecteur la traduction d'extraits de deux chroniques arabes des XVe et XVIIe siècles, relatifs au royaume de Grenade. Cinq index -mots annotés, noms de personnes,et de clans, noms de lieux, premiers vers des romances et premiers vers des autres poèmes inclus dans le roman- complètent le trosième volume qui s'achève par la bibliographie des éditions anciennes et des tarductions du texte et travaux cités dans la thèse.

Don Quichotte de Cervantès (1605-1615) est le premier roman associant un système narratif hérité du roman de chevalerie, et des phénomènes de brouillage qui rendent incertaine la source de l'énonciation. Des auteurs du vingtième siècle que l'on croit trop fréquemment engagés dans le processus d'une "littérature de l'épuisement", réutilisent ces techniques dans des œuvres autoréflexives qui mettent en question le rôle de l'écrivain comme créateur à part entière d'un monde fictionnel. Mais on ne peut parler de jeu d'influences entre des œuvres éloignées par leur époque, leur forme et leurs thèmes. Dans certaines nouvelles borgésiennes choisies sur une période qui s'étend de 1930 à 1975, des chaines, suggérées ou développées, renvoient souvent à un avant du texte vertigineux : l'auteur se définit plutôt comme un artisan tentant de trouver sa place dans un univers ou l'essentiel a déjà été écrit. Tahar Ben Jelloun, dans l'enfant de sable (1985) et la nuit sacrée (1987) fait raconter une même histoire par huit conteurs marocains. Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore (1979) d'Italo Calvino met en place une chaine brisée d'auteurs fictifs et de narrateurs dont les œuvres sont toujours interrompues en leur commencement. Un roman américain de John Barth, sabbatical (1982) brouille savamment la source de l'émission. Ces techniques narratives ont plusieurs fonctions. Elles rappellent d'abord que la littérature se situe dans un rapport constitutif à l'antécédence; elles apportent aussi la preuve qu'elles sont capables d'assumer cet héritage. Les chaines narratives miment une quête de l'écrivain; les effets de brouillage mettent en scène des narrateurs perturbes, éprouvant des difficultés a écrire. Mais le maitre de l'illusion romanesque moderne, réapparaissant derrière ces narrateurs, montre qu'il a trouve le sens de sa tache dans la conscience qu'il a de travailler a partir d'une matière diégétique peut-être restreinte dans la littérature moderne, mais susceptible d'être organisée selon des combinaisons illimitées
Don Quixote by Cervantes (1605-1615) is the first novel linking together a narrative pattern inherited from the tales of chivalry and narrative interferences making the narrator hard to discover. Some twentieth century authors who are often said to be involved into a "literature of exhaustion", use these techniques in self-reflexive works which question the role of the writer as the full creator of a fictional world. The play of influences cannot be taken into account between works which are radically different as far as their period, their form and their themes are concerned. In some short stories by Borges which are chosen between 1930 and 1975, suggested or developed narrative chains often refer to a pre-text : the author defines himself as a craftsman who tries to find a place in a world where the essential points have already been written. In L’Enfant de sable (1985) and la nuit sacrée (1987) by Tahar. Ben Jelloun, a single story is narrated eight times by different Moroccan storytellers. In Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore (1979) by Italo Calvino, a chain of fictional authors and narrators is organized but their narrative is always interrupted at the beginning. In an American novel by John Barth's, sabbatical, the origin of the narrative is skillfully confusing. These modern narrative techniques show several functions. First, they reveal that modern literature is linked to the literature of the past. Narrative chains symbolize a quest for the author. The effects of narrative interferences show upset narrators who have difficulties to write. But the master of illusion in modern novels who is identified behind the narrators, found the meaning of his task in his awareness to work on a digenetic matter, somewhat restricted in modern literature, but which can be organized according to unlimited combinations

Dans leurs œuvres respectives, où ils mettent en scène la Provence intérieure, pour l’un, et la Castille rurale, pour l’autre, Jean Giono (1895-1970) et Miguel Delibes (1920-2010) font la part belle à la « terre ». Forte de ce constat, cette étude est prioritairement dédiée à leurs productions romanesques où, par-delà des différences esthétiques certaines, émergent de forts points communs thématiques et des figures récurrentes, dans la nuance ou dans l’accord. Après nous être interrogé sur la qualification du genre romanesque (des romans « de terroir », « rustiques » ou « de la terre » ?), nous nous sommes attaché aux relations particulières que les hommes ici mis en scène entretiennent avec leur territoire : les paysans, dans leur travail, et tous ceux qui, de fait, vivent au sein de la nature, sans négliger les citadins qui y retrouvent leurs racines, ni les ruraux transplantés en ville mais dont l’ancrage et l’attachement subsistent. Dans ces œuvres de fiction, la terre se présente sous de multiples caractères. Dans un premier temps, elle entretient des rapports harmonieux avec ses créatures, humaines ou animales, qui vivent toutes en liens étroits. Cet ensemble est chargé de mythes qui renvoient aux origines de l’humanité. Mais la modernité introduit une rupture qui brise l’union primitive, avec les cycles de ses rythmes et l’ordre de ses harmonies. Rétive à un tel joug, la terre se révolte et s’en prend aux hommes qu’elle menace de détruire. Dès lors, ils tentent d’établir une relation rénovée où pourrait se réinstaurer un équilibre disparu
The works of Jean Giono (1895-1970) and Miguel Delibes (1920-2010) are respectively set against the backdrop of hinterland Provence and rural Castile, laying the emphasis on the land. This PhD thesis mainly dwells on their novelistic productions, which share numerous recurring themes and figures, despite some aesthetic differences and nuances. After addressing the question of how to characterize these novels – are they novels of the “soil”, “rustic” novels or novels of the “land”? –, this study concentrates on the specific relationships between male characters and their land: peasants at work, all those who live among nature, without forgetting town-dwellers in search of their roots or rural people transplanted to city life, but whose sense of belonging endures.In these works of fiction, the land theme is dealt with in various ways; the emphasis is first placed on the harmonious relationship and close bonds that unite the land with its creatures, whether human or animal. This organic whole is imbued with myths that refer to the origins of mankind. But modernity ruptures this primeval unity, the cycles of its rhythms and the order of its harmonies. Resisting such oppression, the earth rebels, turns against men and threatens them with destruction. From then on, men try to create a restored relationship with the land so that a lost balance might be re-established

La présente étude cherche à dégager, dans le recueil des Novelas ejemplares de Cervantès, la façon dont le thème du corps informe le discours. La matrice de motifs que constitue le prologue fait la part belle aux mentions du corps, dans une oscillation où l'imaginaire de l'unité alterne avec des représentations de la dislocation. Notions corollaires, visibilité et invisibilité du corps sont aussi en jeu, à une époque où le règne du visible s'établit, en Espagne, à travers la prolifération des images. A partir de la double polarité mise à jour dans le prologue, ce travail tente de montrer, dans les nouvelles, les rapports entre les représentations du corps des personnages et leur discours. Les apparitions du corps humain, glorieusement beau ou frôlant le monstrueux, défini en ses contours précis ou bien atténué par l'indétermination, constituent un défi pour le langage. Elles mettent l'intrigue en suspens pour instituer le regard en maître. Image traditionnelle de l'organicité, fait de parties distinctes intégrées à un ensemble, le cosmos est examiné comme une analogie du corps tel qu'il est conçu à l'époque de Cervantès. Il s'agit aussi, par cet examen de la " matière cosmique ", de toucher le grain de l'univers sensible des Novelas. La forme-recueil n'échappe pas à un investissement rhétorique par le motif du corps. La conception cervantine de la compilation est, en effet, marquée par l'image frappante de la " pepitoria ". Puis la métaphore du " pulpo " et de ses tentacules, dans El coloquio de los perros, exprime la plasticité d'un langage narratif fondé sur le surcroît, sur le refus de la clôture malgré les contraintes d'un genre - la nouvelle - qui n'admet pas de suite. Ce discours " disloqué " tente ainsi de s'approcher, au plus près, du dévidement infini de la vie même
This study explores the way in which the theme of the body permeates the discourse in Cervantes's Novelas ejemplares. There are countless references to the body in the network of motifs contained in the prologue, ranging from images of unity to representations of dislocation. The ancillary issues of the visibility and the invisibility of the body also come into play, at a time when there was a proliferation of images in Spain and the visible came to predominate. Based on the double polarity exposed in the prologue, this study attempts to unveil the relationship between the representations of the characters' bodies and their discourse in the short stories. The occurrences of the human body, either glorious in its beauty or verging on monstrosity, precisely delineated or indeterminate, defy the language. They suspend the narration in order to give eyesight pride of place. The cosmos, being made up of distinct parts belonging to a whole, is a traditional image for organicity, and is here examined by analogy with the body, as the latter was conceived at the time of Cervantes. Studying the “cosmic matter” is a way to touch the grain of the physical world in the work. The collection as a form is also rhetorically impregnated with the body as a motif. Indeed Cervantes's presentation of his compilation is marked by the striking image of the “pepitoria”. The “pulpo” metaphor, in El coloquio de los perros, offers another metadiscursive as well as corporeal vision of language. It expresses the plasticity of a narrative discourse based on “surfeit”, its refusal of endings, its constant wish for continuing itself in spite of the necessity for neat denouements imposed by the “novela” genre. Cervantes tends to copy, through this dislocated discourse, the endless displaying of life itself
