Abstract (sommario):
In this article, the authors present an interdisciplinary discussion of the multiple dimensions of racism and formulate conceptions of its impact on the formation of healthy personalities. They describe how racism has both ideological and structural components and perpetuates itself recursively at the macro-(e.g., group, institution) and microlevels (e.g., interpersonal). As one consequence of its embedded, cyclical nature, efforts to treat client problems that involve issues of race and racism will necessarily entail piercing distortions in reality, encouraging self-moral development, and eliciting risk-taking behaviors. To take part in transforming current structures of racism, counseling psychologists are urged to extend these strategies beyond the therapeutic milieu. Implications for practice, training, and research are presented.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
The phrase ‘psychology in action’ may automatically surface positive connotations to the effects of psychological interventions. However, the fact that something is ‘in action’ or moving, that someone is ‘doing something’, does not automatically indicate favourable outcomes. Misled or badly executed actions can be damaging. Psychiatric care facilities exist primarily to treat the psychological and psychiatric difficulties faced by individuals. Even before the appointment with the therapist and doctor, the mere existence of a psychiatric facility represents ‘psychology in action’. Everything from the appearance of the building to the attitude of the staff contributes to how the facility is putting psychology into action. Therefore, from the moment one is admitted to a psychiatric institution ‘psychology in action’ begins to influence the patient. Theory and therapeutic techniques are essential for effectively putting psychology into action. Indeed, a plethora of information exists regarding the academics of psychology. However, how often are mental health care practitioners made to look at the reality of their patients and clients’ genuine, lived experiences of psychology in action? It is this question which, in light of personal experience, will be kept in mind while reflecting on the subjective experience of both a damaging, and subsequently effective experience of two psychiatric institutions.

Abstract (sommario):
Cultural competence is increasingly recognized as an essential component of effective mental health care delivery to address diversity and equity issues. Drawing from the literature and our experience in providing cultural competence consultation and training, the paper will discuss our perspective on the foundational concepts of cultural competence and how it applies to a health care organization, including its programs and services. Based on a recent consultation project, we present a methodology for assessing cultural competence in health care organizations, involving mixed quantitative and qualitative methods. Key findings and recommendations from the resulting cultural competence plan are discussed, including core principles, change strategies, and an Organizational Cultural Competence Framework, which may be applicable to other health care institutions seeking such changes. This framework, consisting of eight domains, can be used for organizational assessment and cultural competence planning, ultimately aiming at enhancing mental health care service to the diverse patients, families, and communities.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this article is to analyze the mental health problems of children and adolescents from the perspective of an Institution entrusted by Law 4/2021, of 27 July, on Children and Adolescents of Andalusia, to be the guarantor of the defense of the rights and freedoms of this particularly vulnerable sector of society. It will address, first, main problems and challenges affecting these children with mental health problems, taking into account the experience of the Ombudsman’s Office in the complaints received from those affected, their families or associations in the sector. Claims that, on the other hand, have been increased after the pandemic caused by Covid-19. Protecting and defending the rights of children also involves formulating proposals for improvements to be taken into consideration by public administrations. Therefore, the document also contains a compendium of those suggestions and recommendations that the Ombudsman has addressed to the Administration of the Andalusian Regional Government to improve the quality of care offered to children suffering from any mental pathology.

ABSTRACTEthics is the Science of morals in human conduct. However, ethics and morals are not same. The ethics is based on certain principles, which include 'Respect for Person and Justice'. This principle is not in total conformity with Hippocratic tradition, where Physician is given a 'Position of Paternalism'. The basic idea of 'justice' is that all human beings are equally valuable. Similarly, the principle of liberty is the right to self determination but what is the use of this right that can not be fulfilled. These basic principles are evolving and are constantly posing problems in every health care institution and are a challenge to every Physician.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction: the article deals with policy in the field of mental well-being of children and adolescents in Poland. Special attention is paid to the country’s educational law and the tasks that face the entities constituting the Polish educational system in terms of taking effective measures to protect mental health of children and adolescents, including health promotion, prevention of mental disorders and the provision of care for people with mental aberration. Purpose: the article aims to identify and discuss some aspects of policy on mental wellbeing of children and adolescents in Poland. Methods: the complex and interdisciplinary nature of the issue in question determined the methodological framework of the study. The authors employ methods traditionally used in research on public policies, such as political analyses of processes, methods used by researchers in the field of law, administration and economics. The main research tool in this study is the analysis of political public contexts which occur in the administration and enforcement of law. A functional system analysis is employed as an auxiliary tool. Results: despite the fact that the discussion on maintaining the mental well-being of children and adolescents has been taking place for many years, and that the educational law system and health policy, including its elements related to mental health, cover many aspects being of fundamental significance to the issue in question, practice shows that that there are still systemic and institutional deficiencies in this field. Conclusions: mental health promotion and mental disorder prevention in children and adolescents cannot be treated as separate activities, but they require a holistic, systemic, and hence horizontal approach. These activities must be integrated into a unified prevention policy at all decisionmaking and operational (executive)levels.

Abstract (sommario):
Today, mental health problem has become a grave concern in Malaysia. According to the National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2017, one in five people in Malaysia suffers from depression, two in five from anxiety, and one in ten from stress. Higher education students are also at risk of being part of the affected community. The increased data size without proper management and analysis, and the lack of counsellors, are compounding the issue. Therefore, this paper presents on identifying factors in mental health problems among selected higher education students. This study aims to classify students into different categories of mental health problems, which are stress, depression, and anxiety, using machine learning algorithms. The data is collected from students in a higher education institute in Kuala Terengganu. The algorithms applied are Decision Tree, Neural Network, Support Vector Machine, Naïve Bayes, and logistic regression. The most accurate model for stress, depression, and anxiety is Decision Tree, Support Vector Machine, and Neural Network, respectively.

Abstract (sommario):
While there is a sizeable body of research examining the association between alcohol use and mental health conditions among college students, there are sparse investigations specifically focusing on these associations among Black college students. This is concerning given Black college students face different stressors compared with their non-Black peers. Black males appear especially at risk, exhibiting increased susceptibility to mental health issues and drinking in greater quantities and more frequently than Black females. This investigation examined the association between alcohol consumption and mental health conditions among Black men attending institutions of higher education in the United States and sought to determine differences between Black men attending predominantly White institutions (PWIs) compared with those attending postsecondary minority institutions. Final sample included 416 Black men, 323 of which attended a PWI. Data were from the National College Health Assessment. Black men attending a PWI reported significantly greater levels of alcohol consumption and significantly more mental health conditions. Attendance at a minority-serving institution was associated with fewer mental health conditions among Black men. Future studies should seek to replicate these findings and conduct culturally sensitive and gender-specific research examining why Black men at PWIs report greater alcohol consumption and more mental health conditions than their peers attending postsecondary minority institutions.

Abstract (sommario):
Like the other medical professions, mental health workers need appropriate motivation for effective treatment work. This study aims to determine the motivators and assess working conditions of mental health workers and how they differ from the motivators and working conditions of other health workers on the example of one of the largest hospital institutions in Croatia – University Hospital Centre Zagreb. The study chose a survey method and distributed a questionnaire among 124 Zagreb University Hospital Centre health workers. The sample covers about 16% of the entire medical staff of the observed departments (psychiatry, emergency, microbiology, gynecology, anesthesiology, COVID-19 unit, and orthopedic surgery). The ANOVA method was used to detect differences in data groups. The results show that Croatian mental health workers are mainly motivated extrinsically. However, compared to other medical professions, e.g., gynecologists, orthopedists, or anesthesiologists, they are upper-middle motivated and leaders in several motivators. Observed Croatian mental health workers are more satisfied with their patient interactions than their colleagues. Female mental health workers are more motivated but less satisfied with the working conditions than males. The study showed that even in one medical institution, there are significant differences in the needs of representatives of different professions. The paper concludes that mental health workers have different motivations, which can be satisfied by creating appropriate working conditions. AcknowledgmentsThe authors acknowledge the COST Action CA19113 «The European Researchers’ Network Working on Second Victims» (ERNST) for short-term scientific mission grant and supporting this study; staff of University Hospital Centre Zagreb for participating in the survey; and the Hauge School of Management of the NLA University College (Kristiansand, Norway) for supporting this publication.

Abstract (sommario):
The loss of a caregiver or loved one is a tragic moment, which can have psychosocial impact on a child. Children inside institutions either in foster or residential care are prevalence to the experience of neglect and parental loss bereavement. Bereavement endures a variety of factors that influence negatively on child mental health. The purpose of this concept paper is to explain noteworthy contributions with regards to information on bereavement among children and their psychosocial problems in institutions and residential cares. The attachment theory is significant to explain the association of bereavement and institutions, which supported the evidence that bereavement among vulnerable population inside institution, are at high risk of social deterioration. The theory implies a cause-effect relationship between early attachments. Children are potentially psychologically affected by any traumatic events, which caused them to experience prolong mental developmental delay that are associated with different psychological disorders. Institutionalized children can easily become victim of their psychosocial inability to defend themselves from ruthless violence. Research had examined the differentiating factors of certain symptoms in normal grief and bereavement within the context of depressive disorders, including self-guiltiness, death thoughts, maltreatment, and worthlessness. Experiences of bereavement may occur over the loss, which then shifted to transient withdrawal. Parental loss is one of the most extreme social deprivations that a child can experience Therefore responses to parental loss may be age-specific, related to temperament and to culture. The literature indicated that bereavement in institutional settings has the potential to cause significant risks of mental health with the most prevalent impact related to psychological issues. To cope with the consequences of child maltreatment, prolonged effective interventions should be encouraged. Noteworthy, studies related to bereavement and stress to explain the psychological health issues of children due to parental loss in institutional care are limited, especially within the context of developing countries.

Abstract (sommario):
Health is not only about physical condition but also mental condition. Mental health is an integral part of every individual. A healthy soul is described as free from complaints and in a peaceful and calm state. The disease outbreak called Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) does not only attack physical health, but also has an impact on mental health. Those who work especially in an institution will affect its performance. Polkesyo as an educational institution as well as a Public Service Agency (BLU) requires employee mental health data as a basis for formulating appropriate policies so that they can anticipate future mental health problems. The aim of the study was to get an overview of the mental health of the employees of the Yogyakarta Ministry of Health Poltekkes. The research design is descriptive. Obtained 112 samples from 374 populations with a combination of snowball technique and saturated sampling using the Self Reporting Questionary (SRQ) instrument with google form. Data analysis technique uses frequency distribution. The results of the study were that most of the respondents were mentally healthy (58%). A small portion with mental emotional disorders is quite healthy, there are 33.9% and 8.1% are unhealthy. Emotional mental disorders are most often reflected in the form of feelings of insecurity and discomfort manifested by avoidance of certain people, places and activities (17.9%), feelings of anxiety, tension and worry (17%), and there are 1.8% even though they are small but very dangerous, namely thoughts of wanting to end one's life (suicide). The conclusion is that the mental health of most of the respondents is mentally healthy, a small portion is quite healthy and less healthy.

Abstract (sommario):
Context: Universal screening for mental health concerns, as part of the preparticipation examination in collegiate sports medicine settings, can be an important and feasible strategy for facilitating early detection of mental health disorders. Objective: To assess whether sports medicine departments at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member colleges have policies related to identifying student-athlete mental health problems, the nature of preparticipation examination screening related to mental health, and whether other departmental or institutional screening initiatives are in place. I also aimed to characterize the variability in screening by institutional characteristics. Design: Cross-sectional study. Setting: College sports medicine departments. Patients or Other Participants: Team physicians and head athletic trainers at NCAA member colleges (n = 365, 30.3% response rate). Main Outcome Measure(s): Electronic survey of departmental mental health screening activities. Results: A total of 39% of respondents indicated that their institution had a written plan related to identifying student-athletes with mental health concerns. Fewer than half reported that their sports medicine department administers a written or verbal screening instrument for symptoms of disordered eating (44.5%), depression (32.3%), or anxiety (30.7%). The strongest predictors of mental health screening were the presence of a written plan related to identifying student-athlete mental health concerns and the employment of a clinical psychologist. Additionally, Division I institutions and institutions with a greater ratio of athletic trainers to student-athletes tended to engage in more screening. Conclusions: The substantial among-institutions variability in mental health screening suggests that opportunities exist to make these practices more widespread. To address this variability, recent NCAA mental health best-practice guidelines suggested that institutions should screen for a range of mental health disorders and risk behaviors. However, at some institutions, staffing deficits may need to be addressed to allow for implementation of screening-related activities.

Abstract (sommario):
This study traces the origins of the transition from an institution-based mental health structure to a community-based policy by examining the early career and contributions of Dr. Robert H. Felix, a major figure who helped pass the National Mental Health Act of 1946 and was the first director of the National Institute of Mental Health. Felix began his career in the U.S. Public Health (USPHS) in the 1930s and was stationed at various PHS-affiliated institutes in the early 1940s. Post-World War II (WWII), he leveraged his professional experiences with federal-level institutions, by laying the groundwork for overarching national mental health policy plans. Based on lessons learned from total war, his prospective plan mainly focused on the prevention of mental illness, whether chronic or acute. In this regard, this paper demonstrates how American mental health policies use centralized federal funds to help community-based prevention of early-stage illness.

Abstract (sommario):
In recent years, the Movement for Global Mental Health (MGMH) and the World Health Organization have worked closely with governments across the global South to redress major treatment gaps to improve access to mental health services. In India, recent reforms include transforming public psychiatric institutions from sites of treatment to research and training institutes, known as “Centres of Excellence,” to combat acute manpower shortages and modernize psychiatry. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork at a public psychiatric hospital in Srinagar, Kashmir, one of the institutions selected to be a future “Centre of Excellence,” this article focuses on how these reforms have affected psychiatric institutions themselves. Efforts at modernizing and increasing access to mental health care—that is, emphasizing shortened stays, increasing outpatient treatment, and providing care in the “community”—depend on quarantining stigmatized, chronically ill, long-term patients who reside in custodial conditions with fewer resources and limited attention from providers. Psychiatrists have a radically different vision for redressing manpower shortages than the MGMH and Indian state, revealing contradictions in the reform process. This paper demonstrates how modernizing mental health care splits mental institutions spatially, ontologically, temporally, and epistemologically, so that the process of modernizing the institution is neither seamless nor complete.

Abstract (sommario):
This article discusses the mental health problems of students, based on a review of previous research studies. Although a university education is regarded as a privilege, studying for a degree can be a demanding and stressful experience. Many students experience episodes of psychological distress during their college years. Professional degree programmes (such as occupational therapy or medicine) are particularly stressful relative to some other courses, because students face both academic and clinical demands. The prevalence and causes of psychological distress among trainee health professionals are reviewed. Both institutional and individual factors affecting mental health are explored and some issues about student selection are discussed. The final section suggests how the institution and academic staff can address the issue of student mental health in a proactive and constructive manner. There are over 3000 occupational therapy students in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and the topic of student mental health should be of interest to academic staff and clinical supervisors.

IntroductionIn the mental health area, the most problematic issues are the involuntary placement of the mentally ill in closed institutions, both under civil and criminal proceedings, and their involuntary treatment. Despite the international efforts of harmonizing measures, the nature and practice of the services still vary from country to country.ObjectivesTo analyse involuntary placement of persons with mental disorders in closed institutions under civil and criminal proceedings, which include both psychiatric hospitals and care institutions.MethodsReview and analysis of regulations and practice of involuntary placement of a person with a mental disorder in a closed institution in the context of Estonian, Finnish, Russian, and English law, health care and social system.ResultsEstonian, Finnish, Russian, and English law distinguish between criminal and civil proceedings regarding involuntary placement of a mentally ill person in a closed institution. However, specifics of the proceedings are different among the countries, e.g. judicial involvement, and deadlines. Also, the provision of forensic mental health services differ among these countries, e.g. in Estonia offenders and non-offenders are kept separately, whilst in England and Russia patients are not distinguished so strictly.ConclusionsThe distinction between involuntary placement of the mentally ill in criminal and civil proceedings is distinguished primarily for the reason that in one case the risk arising from the person is directly realized by committing an unlawful act and in the other case the risk arising from the person is directed at themselves or is not qualified as an unlawful act.

Abstract (sommario):
SummaryThe writings of Franco Basaglia are critically reviewed, both from a technical psychiatric point of view and from a general political and social one. Basaglia maintained that the causes of psychiatric disorder are essentially social in nature, and that the only valid treatments are political struggle and the revival of the patient's aggressiveness. Therefore, no institution can be therapeutic for the patient, since its aim must be his custody and violent destruction. These statements are considered in the light of the need for institutions which are a therapeutic alternative to the mental hospital. Basaglia's ‘liberal’ defence of the individual against society is analysed, in relation to the negative consequences that the Italian Law 180 of 1978 is having on the care of long-term psychiatric patients. This law ‘forgot’ such patients, as well as adversely affecting the treatment of acute patients, for whom an insufficient number of psychiatric beds was permitted in general hospitals. A revision is proposed of Law 180 that would make possible the setting up of alternative institutions to outdated mental hospitals, but at the same time allow a transformation of their old structures.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction: This study compares rates of depression, suicidal ideation, and burnout among resident/fellow and attending physicians in orthopaedic surgery to other specialties during height/end of the first wave of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic at our institution. Main outcomes and measures included suicidal ideation, Patient Health Questionnaire for Depression (PHQ-9) scores for depression, and 2 single-item measures for emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. This study provides valuable information regarding orthopaedic surgeon mental health during world crises. Methods: This is a cross-sectional survey-based study of resident, fellow, and attending physicians from 26 specialties during and after the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic at our institution from April 24, 2020 to May 15, 2020. The survey contained 22 items. This includes consent, demographics and general data, 2 single-item questions of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization, and the PHQ-9. Subjects were eligible if they were a resident/fellow or attending physician at our institution. Results: The response rate for the study was 16.31%. Across all specialties rates were 6.2% depression, 19.6% burnout, and 6.6% suicidal ideation. The results for orthopaedic surgeons are as follows: 0% tentative diagnosis of depression, 3.8% suicidal ideation, and 4% burnout. Anesthesiology had the highest rate of depression (14.3%). Internal medicine and other non-surgical specialties had the highest rate of suicidal ideation (10.2%). Orthopaedic surgeons were significantly more likely to achieve work–life balance and experience less burnout than anesthesiologists and pediatricians. Discussion: Depression, suicidal ideation, and burnout continue to affect physicians across all specialties. These issues are amplified in light of crisis. Job satisfaction and rigorous training may be protective factors that allow orthopaedic surgeons to adapt to novel clinical settings under stress when compared to anesthesiologists and pediatricians. Resilience training and stress management strategies should continue to be investigated to better prepare physicians for world crises.

In an institution, 57 people with mental retardation who had shown assaultive behaviour during the last year were compared with a control group of 57 people in the same institution, matched by sex, level of retardation and age. The study group were younger and had more people with a moderate level of mental retardation than the total population of the institution. Compared with the controls, the assaultive group had more resources available, had more psychopathology, consumed more psychotropic drugs, and had a higher frequency of other problem behaviour. We found no group differences in personal skills, including communication. Generally, the observed covariates of assaultive behaviour resembled that seen in other populations with assaultive behaviour.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction: Worldwide, the burden of mental illnesses poses serious public health challenges, with approximately 7.4% of the global burden attributed to mental disorders. However, many primary healthcare systems in countries around the world focus mainly on physical care and neglect to provide mental health care to their populations. In Zambia, the prevalence of mental disorders is approximately 20%, with common mental disorders including acute psychotic episodes, schizophrenia, alcohol-related problems, and organic brain syndromes. These are mainly seen in Chainama, the only mental institution in the country. The institution is highly stigmatized, and previous studies have shown that the general population does not access services at this facility as intended, leading to considerations of decentralizing these services to be integrated into primary health care. This study sought to understand the dispositions of primary health facility in-charges towards decentralization and the integration of mental health services into primary health care. Methods: This study was cross-sectional and employed both quantitative and qualitative techniques. A total of 76 primary health care facility in-charges from seven subdistricts of Lusaka district provided data through a questionnaire, and 56 participated in focus group discussions. Findings: The study found that in-charges had a positive disposition (52 in-charges: 68.3 percent) despite having inadequate knowledge (56 in-charges: 73.7 percent) of the subject matter and the decentralization process. While their current practices towards mental patients were found to be acceptable, the study also found that the majority (52.6 percent) of the in-charges foresaw more barriers to the integration of mental health, citing skilled staff, infrastructure, and drugs as main barriers. Conclusion: The study concludes that integration requires more investment and sensitization for its success.

Abstract (sommario):
The issue of mental health literacy has been widely studied in developed countries, with few studies conducted in Arab countries. In this study we aimed to investigate mental health literacy and attitudes towards psychiatric patients among students of Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among undergraduate students using a validated Arabic-version questionnaire. A total of 557 students were recruited from different Jazan university colleges. The majority of students (90.3%) have intermediate mental health literacy. Regarding the etiology of mental illness, students agreed that genetic inheritance (45.8%), poor quality of life (65%) and social relationship weakness (73.1%) are the main causes of mental illness. The majority thought that mentally ill people are not capable of true friendships (52.5%) and that anyone can suffer from a mental illness (49.4%). Students' attitudes towards psychiatric patients were mixed, with 68.7% reporting that they could maintain a friendship with a mentally ill person and that people with mental illness should have the same rights as anyone else (82.5%). Mental health literacy among university students was intermediate. There is an urgent need for health educational programs to change the attitudes of students regarding this important health issue.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant effect on the mental health of human beingsworld wide. There is a lack of information pertaining to the mental wellness of students and faculty in dental institutions in India. This study aimed to assess the overall mental well being of students and faculty of dental institution after return to normalcy post-lockdown period during COVID-19. Material & Methods: A self reporting online questionnaire was designed by the authors after speaking with various therapists and mental health coaches. This questionnaire was anonymously filled out by 492 participants which included under graduate students, post graduate students, academic staff, paramedical and clerical staff in a dental institution. Results: Majority of the subjects felt the need for counseling in their work place (53.4%). A greater number felt they were getting insufficient sleep (48.3%) and (31.5%) of the participants experienced depression and anxiety which further affected their emotional well being and their day to day activities. One-fifth (16.8%) of the participants perceived that mental health affected their relationships and 20.1% observed that physical health restricted their day to day activities. Mental wellness of females was significantly more affected than males. Additionally marital status also influenced the mental wellness of the subjects. Conclusion: Literary evidence suggests that mental wellness is not given enough importance in our country in general. This study only proved the ramifications of COVID-19 on mental wellness and suggested the provision of counselling which could’ve protected the participants from slipping into a negative frame of mind.

The prevalence of mental illness is increasing among post-secondary students. Despite more mental health services being of-fered within post-secondary institutions, uptake among students remains suboptimal. This study aimed to examine facilitators and barriers for students seeking mental health services through service providers’ perspectives. Twenty-four semi-structured interviews were conducted at a southwestern Ontario post-secondary institution and were analyzed using thematic analysis using NVivo. Facilitators revealed include strengthening communication techniques; improving equity, diversity, and inclu-sion; increasing social media promotion; and providing incentives. Barriers identified include fear of judgement, time con-straints, individual perceptions of the need for services, unawareness, and higher-level barriers such as lowered capacity of staff and physical resources. These facilitators and barriers should be used in tandem with the Theory of Planned Behaviour to help improve uptake and effectiveness of campus mental health services.

AbstractObjectiveTo point out the proportion of intellectually disabled women (IDW) who are sterilised, and the medical and social factors associated with an increased probability to be sterilised.Study designA population-based study among 97% of IDW aged 18–46, attending government-accredited institutions in the region of Brussels-Capital and the province of Walloon Brabant (Belgium).ResultsAmong the IDW included in this study, 22.2% are sterilised, which is superior to the 7% in the general Belgian population. Factors associated with an increased probability to be sterilised are: living in an institution, having a higher intellectual quotient (IQ), being enrolled in an institution where sexual intercourse is authorised and attending an institution where contraception is required. The last three factors are significant only among women living in institutions and the last two, only in women with severe disability. Among IDW using contraception, no factor was associated with a greater probability to be sterilised.ConclusionThe prevalence of sterilisation among IDW is three times higher than that in the Belgian population and it is mainly correlated with factors related to the institution where these women live, especially the severely disabled.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper discusses the influence of institutional quality on FDI stock inflows towards eight developing countries in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Institution in this paper is classified in four forms, namely legal, bureaucratic, politics, and economic institutions. This paper utilizes the method of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and panel data regression. After using PCA method to identify which variables hold the most importance, the authors then constructed an individual index for four institutions as defined before. These indices are then used for panel data regression. The result of this paper indicates that out of four forms of institutions, three institutions are found to be significant determinants. These three institutions are legal, bureaucratic, and economic institutions. Surprisingly, while bureaucratic institution has positive coefficients, the other two forms of institutions have negative coefficients, suggesting that FDI stock inflows towards developing countries in ASEAN are more likely to be motivated by weak legal and economic institutions.

This research investigated the correlation of excessive assignments on the mental health of fifth-year English language students at State Islamic Religious Institution in Central Kalimantan. The research hypothesized a strong positive correlation between perceived assignment load and mental health problems. The method of this research used quantitative approach using a questionnaire. The Data was collected from 20 participants. The researchers, analyzed the data using pearson's correlation coefficient JASP to examine the relationship between excessive assignment and mental health condition. Based on the findings, the result showed a significant positive correlation (r = 0.900, p <.001) between excessive assignment and mental health condition, indicating that 81.0% of the variance in students' mental health could be attributed to their perceived workload. Educational institutions should take proactive steps to manage student workloads and provide mental health support services, such as counseling, time management training, and flexible deadlines. Promoting a balanced approach to academic assessment that prioritizes both academic excellence and student well-being is crucial for fostering the success and well-being of English language students. This research limited due to the small sample size and focus on a specific student population. Future research with larger and more diverse samples is needed to further explore the complex relationship between academic demands and student mental health. The findings highlight the urgent need for universities and educators to prioritize student mental health alongside academic achievement. Implementing practical strategies to manage workloads and provide mental health support can promote a more holistic and student-centered educational environment.

Institution, power and creativity. Contemporary authors tend to evoke the death-bearing aspects of institutions. Without avoiding the question of the death instinct, the author asks himself the question of the conditions required for an institution to allow for the autonomy of individuals and to become a source of life and creativity. He insists on the necessity of a passage by way of the murder of the founding father (or fathers) and of the indispensible reconciliation with the father that must follow (passage from the idealised father to the symbolic father), on the vocations of "exotes" within the transformation of institutions, on the importance of the elucidation of functions and powers and on the central role of the sublimation process.

To the authors’ knowledge, this paper is the first to explore the dietary regime provided in a total institution. Specifically, the aim of this study is to highlight gender differences in the dietary regimes of mental health patients. Using archival and documentary evidence, the study uses an unobtrusive research approach to explore the diets of mental health patients living in the Girifalco asylum, in southern Italy, during the second half of the 19th century. The evidence analyzed examines whether the dietary regimes that were rebuilt are perfectly in line with the principles of moral treatment. Concerning the study, limitations should be stated; although archival evidence suggests that the institutional meals provided in Girifalco asylum were nutritionally adequate (by gender), this is impossible to verify. In conclusion, the dietary regime provided at the Girifalco asylum was balanced both from a qualitative and quantitative point of view for healthy living in a total institution.

Abstract (sommario):
The war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (1992-1995), the post-war period and the period of transition had significant consequences on the structure of the population, economic and social status, on the mental health and general health of the population, and the organization of medical institutions and mental health services. On the area of forensic psychiatry, the biggest problem in Bosnia-Herzegovina after the war is the issue of complete lack of capacity for treatment and keeping mentally ill crime committers. Before the war, there existed special institutions (a combination of psychiatry and prison facilities) in the framework of former Yugoslavia. One of such hospital, something like “maximum security hospital” existed in Bosnia-Herzegovina, in territory that belongs to Republic of Srpska after Dayton Agreement. Unfortunately, even 13 years after the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, such institution simply does not exist. This results in formidable fact that crime committers who are mentally ill can not be processed or convicted of classical imprisonment. They are placed in the jurisdiction of Social Services, which is neither organized nor capable of adequate acceptance, follow up and treat these people. In practice, this means that these patients are free out of institution, often without any treatment.

AbstractBackgroundMigration during the 1990s has been high and has been characterised by new migrations. Migration has been a key force in the demographic changes of the European population. Due to the different condition of migration in Europe, variables related to mental health of migrants are: motivation for migration, living conditions in the home and in the host country.AimsTo give an overview on (i) prevalence of mental disorders; suicide; alcohol and drug abuse; (ii) access to mental health and psychosocial care facilities of migrants in the European region, and (iii) utilisation of health and psychosocial institution of these migrants.MethodsNon-system review of the literature concerning mental health disorders of migrants and their access to and their consumption of health care and psychosocial services in Europe.ResultsIt is impossible to consider “migrants” as a homogeneous group concerning the risk for mental illness. The literature showed (i) mental health differs between migrant groups, (ii) access to psychosocial care facilities is influenced by the legal frame of the host country; (iii) mental health and consumption of care facilities is shaped by migrants used patterns of help-seeking and by the legal frame of the host country.ConclusionData on migrant's mental health is scarce. Longitudinal studies are needed to describe mental health adjusting for life conditions in Europe to identify those factors which imply an increased risk of psychiatric disorders and influence help seeking for psychosocial care. In many European countries migrants fall outside the existing health and social services, particularly asylum seekers and undocumented immigrants.

Abstract (sommario):
Objective: The objectives of this study are, first, to replicate and extend an Australian approach to assessing mental health literacy by studying a sample of Singapore mental health professionals, and to focus on differences between judgements made by the psychiatrists in comparison with the other mental health professionals. Second, to compare the psychiatrists' judgements with those of Australian psychiatrists. Method: The Australian questionnaire, assessing responses in relation to vignettes of major depression and to schizophrenia was extended by adding a third vignette of mania, and by the addition of several region-specific response options. Nearly 500 questionnaires were distributed to representative staff (psychiatrists, nurses and allied health) of a large psychiatric institution in Singapore, with a response rate of 81%. Psychiatrists' judgements were compared with all other hospital staff, and with Australian psychiatrists' judgements. Results: The two principal contrast groups (Singapore psychiatrists and other Singapore mental health professionals) differed slightly in terms of diagnostic accuracy. The psychiatrists differed in favouring a more professionally focused model of intervention, while both professional groups viewed traditional healers and their practices as distinctly unhelpful. Direct comparison of psychiatrist ratings generated in Singapore and in Australia revealed quite similar response profiles. Conclusions: In addition to generating data of some intrinsic importance, comparison with Australian survey data allows the potential impact of regional and cultural differences, as well as of varying psychiatric practices, to be identified. Responses identified more similarities than differences in the judgements of the psychiatrists from the two countries.

Abstract (sommario):
Supporting academic integrity across the institution is an involved process that includes integrating proactive education, designing effective learning spaces, identifying potential academic integrity breaches, and finding resolutions to support student learning. Through published literature as well as anecdotal experiences, we know that upholding the spectrum of academic integrity can take a toll on everyone – including students, instructors, administrators, and support staff. Rapid transitions and isolation brought on by responses to COVID-19 have only intensified this challenge. Using the Integrity Hour model developed by Dr. Sarah Elaine Eaton at the University of Calgary, RRC Polytech has established a community of practice to support staff and grow the institutional culture of academic integrity. In this session, participants will learn more about the Integrity Hour community at RRC Polytech and how the mental health continuum resource has been used to support group discussion. This session will include a demonstration of the Integrity Hour process with an invitation to participate in a circle discussion.
