Testo completoThis thesis is intended to analyse a mental phenomenon widely neglected in current philosophical discussions: personal memories. Although the analysis is philosophical, the methodological approach is interdisciplinary in order to integrate empirical research done in cognitive science. The first part presents a general framework to better understand what personal memories are, how we access our personal past and what we access about our personal past. Chapter 1 introduces traditional theories of memory: direct realism and representationalism in their differen versions, as well as some objections. I defend here a particular form of representationalism that is based on the distinction between content, intentional object and ontological object. Chapter 2 explores the possible contents of our personal memories, which prove to be heterogenous, even embodied and external, whereas chapter 3 analyses their possible intentional objects, with a special focus on past events. The second part of the thesis explores an aspect of our personal memories that was omitted in the first part: the senses in which our personal past is apprehended as personal. Chapter 4 examines the way in which the "self" intervenes in the construction of our personal memories anc determines their content. Chapters 5 and 6 focus on the analysis of what seems to be the most subjective aspect of our memories, that is, the emotions and feelings of our past experiences. In these last two chapters, I analyse the different interactions that can take place between memories and emotions and defend the idea that there can be memories with an emotional aspect that is not reducible neither to a propositional memory nor an occurrent and present emotion

Testo completoThe present project consists of carrying out certain investigations in order to analyze and provide solutions to a problem, which is the lack of accessibility and time for people to print their photographs. Today, the habit of physically having an album with special memories has been lost, since people prefer to upload their photos to social networks. However, research and interviews found that most people do not buy an album, because there are not many places where photos are printed at a reasonable price. For this reason, our team at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences has determined that, if there is the intention of people to purchase an album, but that it is accessible and original for the client, according to their tastes and preferences, so, for To satisfy our target audience, personalized albums will be made with prices from S / 50 soles to S / 80 soles depending on the number of photos they want, the consumer will choose the theme for their album, the photographs will be edited by us and in different sizes , we will have a mobile application where there will be a user database, in order to choose and edit the photos of your best memories, at the end of the album it will be sent to your home. To this end, a series of investigations and experiments has been carried out, with which our proposal is supported with the problem statement, solutions and a profitable projection of the business.

Inserted in the field of History of Education this research adopted as a general objective to analyze aspects related to the preparation of the Social Identity of the current Institute of Education Sarah Kubitschek (IESK) also trying to take a look into the process of building a Collective Memory about the same institution especially in region in which the institution is located the West Zone Carioca. The choice of the adopted time frame: the years between 1957 and 1978 was driven by the view that in that period the current IESK lived six (6) key moments, mentioned below: The creation of Normal Sarah Kubitschek School (?1957) and its installation in the municipal school Venezuela, transfer to your first own place (1960), the move to the building in which is still (1970), its transformation into a state college (1973), the creation of Campo Grande Institute of Education (1974) and 1978 when passes to be called the Institute of Education Sarah Kubitschek. Adopted as its main theoretical references the identity strategy notions of Dubar (1997) and collective memory (Halbwachs). The thread of the methodology of this study was the analysis of the History of the Institute of Education Sarah Kubitschek document prepared by the State Department of Education and has been guiding the search and subsequent analysis of other sources laws published by the Official Gazette of the former state of Guanabara, newspaper articles and interviews. I believe that the analyzes carried out during this research tried to highlighted the story Sarah was permeated by issues that contributed to consecrate a very specific image about the same: that of an institution with a long tradition, notoriety and excellence and for this would have contributed to the recognition and progress of a region that for decades has been known by the significant name of Sertão Carioca.

This work was developed within the methodological guidelines of a qualitative case study, having as its object the Gabriel Prestes Fanfare - FAGAP - from the city of Lorena, located in the Vale do Paraíba Paulista region. The onset of the research involved getting to know how the fanfare space interferes with its participants by means of a long, effective immersion in the fieldwork. The adopted research plan was developed in such a way as to simultaneously follow two analytical axes on the object of the thesis: a diachronical one and a synchronical one. The diachronical axis enabled studying the group within an historical frame of reference of fanfares as well as FAGAP itself, while the synchronical axis dealt with current circumstances. Crossing these two axes made it possible to delineate a configuration of FAGAP and to analyze the characteristics it shares with other musical groups, as well as to focus on its peculiarities. Adopting such a methodological design proved possible to do away with an investigative perspective focused solely on the present situation of the group being studied, as well as to recover practices, contexts and traditions which help approach the group in its everyday life. The data collected in the historical research and those collected in the fieldwork produced a dense body of knowledge which was critically analyzed in the light of authors who study representations and cultures, particularly Jean Claude Abric, Iuri Lotman and Bruno Latour. By confronting the history of fanfares to that of FAGAP itself, the data show how fanfares have survived cultural changes and resisted the threat of extinction, becoming an educational space for youths.

Flash memory devices dominate the non-volatile memory market, with device structures that utilize charge storage in polysilicon floating gates imbedded in insulating silicon oxide films'. As demands for high storage density, high chip memory capacity, and decreasing process costs continue to mount, conventional flash memory has found it challenging to continue scaling and it may reach fundamental scaling limits because of the minimum tunnel oxide thickness and poor charge retention due to defects in the tunneling oxide, necessitating modification in the implementation of the flash memory technology . In this study nano-segmented floating gate memories consisting of a uniform set of identical organic dye molecules were fabricated and evaluated for potential use as programmable charge storage and charge retention elements in a future flash memory technology. Viability of molecular thin films to serve as an energetically-uniform set of ~1nm in size charge- retaining sites is tested on a series of molecular materials, the best performing of which are thermally evaporated thin films of 3,4,9,10- perylenetetracarboxylic bis-benzimidazole (PTCBI). The initial results show device durability over 105 program/erase cycles, with hysteresis window of up to 3.3V, corresponding to charge storage density as high as 5 x 1012 cm2. Data shows that charge retention is improved for molecular films with lower carrier mobility, which for the first time experimentally confirms in a coherent material set that inhibiting charge transport by nano-segmented floating-gate structures benefits the memory retention. These results show a first step towards a possible approach to miniaturization of non-volatile memory by using molecules as segmented charge storage elements in the floating gate flash memory technology.

Testo completoThis thesis explores the way in which words, memories, and images of District Six are mediated and performed in an attempt to memorialised a destroyed urban landscape. It expands the borders of 'performance' to include oral (re)constructions of place by ex-residents, which in turn opens a space for a reflective analysis in which Marianne Hirsch’s psychodynamic theory of ‘postmemory’ is explored through the phrase ‘Children of District Six’. It traces the role and influence of ex-residents in shaping the politics and poetics of the District Six Museum and argues that orality and performance are singularly sympathetic in evoking and remembering the aesthetic, cultural, and political realms of District Six. It then shifts towards an analysis of two creative projects; Magnet Theater's Onnest’bo and the Museum’s Re-Imagining Carnival in which the themes of place, home, loss, exile, resistance, advocacy and restitution rotate around experiences of forced removals in general and District Six in particular. A thematic cord is created between these performance pieces and oral testimonies and their combined mediation of the many archives of District Six. Through an engagement with the performative odysseys and attendant archives of Re-Imagining Carnival and Onnest’bo the thesis examine metaphysical enactments of material loss, engages with tactics of re-construction of place and experience through memory, connects the psychic worlds of memory and performance and suggests an ideological flow between oral history, witnessing, and theatre. It is an exploration underpinned by the question of the role of performance in memorialising national narratives and the potential of creative mobilisations of memory in enacting psychic restitution. Both Onnest’bo and Re-Imagining Carnival are linked to the District Six Museum, and as such the Museum, its methodologies, ethics, ethos, and work with tangible and intangible heritage serve as an essential ideological foundation from which these creative visions emerge.
