Abstract (sommario):
The article deals with the evolution of functional types of media objects at different stages. It is determined that media objects developed from prototypes to modern media centers. The intermediate stage of evolution is established, that is media objects of hybrid (transitional) type. The emergence of new types of information media and their integration into the structure of media objects have a significant impact on the evolution of the architecture of media objects. The current stage is characterized by the emergence and development of new types of media centers. Functional types of media centers (media libraries, centers of culture and art, media libraries at universities, etc.) are determined herein.

Abstract (sommario):
Numerical simulations of three distinct models of excitable media (two-variable Oregonator, with both variables diffusing equally; and piecewise linear A and B kinetics, with only the propagator variable diffusing) are used here to investigate the dynamics of scroll filaments, with emphasis on the role of twist. In all three models, initially uncurved filaments uniformly twisted more than a threshold amount 'sproing' into radially expanding helices, some of which stabilize at finite radius. By monitoring the evolution of these helices with a differential geometry 'tool kit', we attempt to discern the presumed causal dependence of filament motion (resolved into velocities along the normal and binormal directions of the local Frenet frame) and rotor spin rate, on local filament geometry (curvature and torsion) and twist. Twist can reverse the direction of normal velocity from that seen in untwisted scroll rings; binormal velocity is either reversed (A kinetics), abolished (B kinetics), or engendered (Oregonator). In all cases twist increased spin rate, as predicted by theory. Our efforts to perceive a functional dependence of the dynamical variables on filament geometry and twist have met with limited success, but we believe our attempts have uncovered some useful methodology and exposed some pitfalls relevant to any such investigation. The existence and properties of a novel class of stable organizing centers, as well as the existence of a threshold of twist for their induction, should be of interest to theorists. In addition, our findings here based on models suggest new phenomena to look for in various excitable media, such as the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reagent or heart muscle.

Abstract (sommario):
Introduction. Currently the age of digital society requires its members to freely acquire new skills for the successful use of the possibilities of the new digital reality –media and information literacy. As a result, media education, which is recognized by UNESCO as a separate field of education, is becoming increasingly important. Ukraine has already some positive achie-?ements in the sphere of media education. Purpose. The paper is aimed at systematizing the experience gained by Ukraine through the prism of media education centers’ activity.Methods. A set of theoretical research methods was used to study the areas of Ukrainian media education: a review of the literature, selection and interpretation of results, their systematization and identification of prospects. Results. The activity of 3 recognized domestic centers of media education is described: the Institute of Social and Political Psychology, the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and the Institute of Ecology of Mass Information. Generalization and systematization of their media educational activities made it possible to distinguish the following criteria: historical, methodological, prognostic. Thanks to their use, 2 new media educational centers were identified: the Academy of Press of Ukraine and the College of Press and Television in Mykolayiv. The history of their creation, peculiarities of development and introduction of scientific, educational and methodical maintenance are analyzed, the directions of their further activity are outlined. Originality of the paper lies in the analysis of media education trends in Ukraine through the activity of the acknowledged media education centres and the new ones. Conclusion. A study of the media educational activities of these centers led to the conclusion that they are all similar in their mission – media education. At the same time, they have unique features that are manifested in the practical implementation of media education. It is planned to investigate the peculiarities of media education activity that was totally conducted in the distant form due to COVID 19 pandemic.

Abstract (sommario):
Media centers have a continual need for self-instruction programs which assist patrons in the operation and use of a variety of equipment. Students involved in media production classes need projects that simulate “real life” situations as closely as possible. Having a client with specific needs — a client who can be demanding with regard to project evaluation, and who can also pay students who produce usable programs — is an ideal way to simulate that “real life” environment. California State University at Bakersfield merged these two needs. Beginning multimedia students' first assignment was to develop programs for instructing their classmates on how to use audiovisual equipment. The media center director agreed to buy projects that met his standards and fit the center's needs. This cooperative venture between communication classes and the media center served several instructional goals, and afforded many mutual benefits. Students learned valuable lessons in project design, audience analysis, media production, and marketing. The media center provided the faculty instructional support, a motivating context for students to work, and assistance in evaluation. And, by developing self-instruction programs, the students and faculty provided an expanded resource that directly benefited the Media Center's customers.

Abstract (sommario):
Media literacy is recognized as a basic, vital skill for European citizens. It must be formed during life, at all stages of personality development. That is why we have chosen the leading European countries such as Finland, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain to analyze the current state of media education. Europe should be at the forefront of media literacy, as historically this region of the world has become the cradle of media civilization, a center for coordinating discussions of philosophical, cultural and technical development of the media. The article deals with the analysis of educational and methodical support of the European system of educators’ media education. The importance of media education of educators as the greatest agents of direct educational influence on the younger generation, whose media education is a requirement of the time, is revealed. The need for the development of non-formal and informal media education of educators is identified, as the media component can take place in any lesson and in extracurricular activities. Common components of the organization system of this process (participants, content, forms, methods, tools) are identified and educational and methodological resources are described, which are publicly available and can be useful to educators regardless of country of residence, citizenship or language. As a result of the research, we made the following conclusions: specialized centers offer a wide range of short-term training courses for teachers of various topics; forms of professional development in media education of teachers are different (distance courses, trainings, seminars, workshops, conferences, educational films, etc.); modern scientific, educational, methodical literature for teachers is available (monographs, professional journals, lesson plans, information packages); non-formal and informal preparation of teachers for media education activities is diverse in content, forms, means and methods, but remains fragmentary, not systematic, which does not allow to solve our issue comprehensively, and therefore it needs further development and critical analysis.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: We sought to improve the ability of incarcerated juveniles to critically evaluate media food messages through an educational program that focused on nutrition. Methods: Surveys were administered to two groups of inmates of both sexes (seven to 16 years). The program consisted of forty-one 50 minute sessions (three times per week for 15 weeks) focusing on media and nutrition. Results: None of the participants identified accurate nutrition information before the intervention. After the program, the intervention group (n = 16) identified inconsistencies between nutrition labeling and media messages better than the controls (n = 17). Intervention inmates also expressed a greater interest in learning more about nutrition and had a better understanding of how diet is a factor in health. Conclusions: Health professionals can design health promotion programs that have a positive impact on the inmates’ life while they are in custody, or after their release.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract Currently, patients seek healthcare information online. An up-to-date online presence is vital for success among the competition amid hospitals. Hospital websites have become an important medium to communicate with patients, provide information about certain diseases/conditions, and advertise healthcare services. This study aims to evaluate burn centers websites verified by the American Burn Association (ABA). The online presence of the 73 ABA-verified burn centers was evaluated according to criteria previously published by Benedikt et al. This included general information on burns, first aid, treatment at the burn unit, research, and education. ABA-verified burn centers were then compared with 48 German-speaking burn centers evaluated by Benedikt et al. Online information about patient care including treatment options and techniques was more often present in ABA-verified burn centers. However, this information was still provided in only half of the websites. Furthermore, ABA-verified burn centers more often used multimedia-based elements and social media platforms. On the other hand, German-speaking burn centers more often provided translations, general information (eg, staff and ward) about the burn center, as well as research and education. This study demonstrates that although many burn centers have well-designed websites, relevant burn-related information on patient care, research, and education is often missing or sparse. Today, most patients look for healthcare information online. Also, applicants for residency or fellowship programs tend to get a first picture of their potential employer on websites or social media. Keeping websites and social media up-to-date and informative can improve recruitment of patients and employees.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract In this article, the implications and application possibilities of the capability approach by Amartya Sen for normative discussions about media policy are explored. It gives an overview of some important streams of heterodox political-economic approaches in economics and their role in a “mediatized” world and centers on two concepts of major interest for media policies: the potential media capabilities can have for media users in a mediatized economy, and the important role of publicity and mass media when questions of justice are concerned. For both issues, the capability approach offers interesting insights from a political-economic perspective.

Abstract (sommario):
The method to get the glass media with necessary optical characteristics is proposed. This method is based on inserting a necessary number of heterogeneous centers of given activity into the system. The theoretical description of the nucleation process in such situation is given and the resulting formulas allow choosing the characteristics of heterogeneous centers necessary to get the required optical characteristics of the media.

Abstract (sommario):
Social media are advocated as a prime channel through which to reach college students with health-related information. However, how well are colleges and universities utilizing social media as it was intended—a means to be truly social and not just promotional? Social media can only be effective if students actually follow, interact, and share the content being produced. The following study completed a census of student health center Facebook accounts in the United States as well as investigated students’ motivations to follow, interact with, and share health-related content. Facebook pages were found for about 20% of student health centers, and about two thirds posted content within the past 14 days. However, their median number of “likes” was between 191 and 496 despite being in existence for an average of 6 years. Additionally, the majority of these centers’ most recent posts were promotional, instead of trying to socially engage with their followers. Students indicated that they would be likely to follow, interact, or share social media content from college health accounts if they were incentivized to do so, if they thought the content could be relevant to them, or if they simply knew that the account existed. Unless more attention is given to growing their followings, resources used by student health organizations to consistently post content might be better placed elsewhere. Recommendations for increasing engagement with students are discussed.

Abstract (sommario):
The aim of this paper to reflect on the definition of a cross-media learning environment by analyzing two training approaches to the professional development of teachers. The first approach centers around curricular internships as training for future teachers, the second focuses on professional development for teachers in service. The aim of the author's analysis was to identify the factors that contribute to overcoming the 'real' vs. 'online' and 'theory' vs. “practice” gap, opting for an integrated cross-media learning environment.

Abstract (sommario):
The health emergency derived from the spread of COVID-19 led to the declaration of confinement for the protection of the population. During this temporary period, the educational centers of the Spanish state were forced to suspend face-to-face classes at all educational levels. To safeguard the teaching processes, educational centers and teachers relied on social media to continue their work. The objective of this study is to understand the possibilities and limitations of social media as the only means of communication in the educational and socialization processes of students from the perspective of teachers. The methodology used is based on the collection of data through a questionnaire distributed in the secondary education centers of the autonomous regions of the Basque Country and Navarra. The questionnaire was distributed electronically, respecting the anonymity of the teaching staff and the center in which they practice. The results reveal that the digital media the possibilities and limitations of these media in the teaching processes, showing that some of these are surmountable and others are not.
