Abstract (sommario):
Abstract: (2 Views) Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy of acceptance and commitment therapy adopted for couples with integrative couple therapy in improving marital conflicts of couples with breast cancer. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, a pre-post design was used. Using available sampling, we approached 200 couples facing breast cancer referred to the educational and therapeutic center of Alzahra Hospital in Tabriz and enrolled 45 couples with the highest scores on the Marital Conflict Questionnaire in the study. They were randomly divided into three groups: two experimental groups and one control group. One of the experimental groups received 8 consecutive 90-minute sessions of acceptance and commitment therapy adopted for couples, and the other experimental group received 16 sessions of integrative couple therapy. The control group did not receive any intervention. The research tool was the Marital Conflict Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. Results: The treatment based on acceptance and commitment therapy was effective in reducing marital conflict (P < 0.05). Integrative couple therapy, too, reduced marital conflict in women with cancer (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the two treatment modalities (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Both acceptance and commitment therapy and integrative couple therapy are effective approaches to solving couples’ individual and communicative problems.

Abstract (sommario):
Although some practitioners are beginning to use single-system evaluation methods with various client problems and treatment perspectives, many practitioners are still unsure about how to use these methods with more than one individual in a client system. The authors demonstrate the applicability of a practice-driven, single-system evaluation to conjoint therapy. The primary focus of this integration of practice and research methods is to assist the practitioner in making informed treatment decisions based on the couple's progress toward the attainment of measurable treatment goals. A case presentation using a cognitive–dynamic approach in treating marital disaffection illustrates the specific activities involved in an evaluation.

Abstract (sommario):
Objective: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Paradoxical Timetable Cure (PTC), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Matrix (ACTM), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) on self-esteem and marital burnout in women experiencing marital conflict. Materials and Methods: The research method was quasi-experimental, consisting of three stages: pre-test, post-test, and follow-up. In this study, 45 women with marital conflict were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group, with 15 participants in each group. Each of the experimental groups underwent ten 90-minute training sessions, while the control group received no treatment. Findings: All four groups were assessed before, after, and one month post-intervention using self-esteem and marital burnout questionnaires. The data were analyzed through repeated measures analysis of variance and follow-up tests. The PTC and ACTM treatments were significant for the self-esteem component but were not significantly effective for the emotion-focused treatment. The results showed that PTC, ACTM, and EFT all had a significant difference in the post-test phase compared to the control group in the marital burnout component, indicating their effectiveness; however, this effect was more pronounced for the emotion-focused therapy. Conclusion: Therefore, it is recommended to use all three treatments to reduce marital conflicts in women, employing PTC and ACTM for self-esteem issues and EFT for marital burnout.

Abstract (sommario):
Objectives Purpose This study attempted to investigate the effect of art therapy programs to promote marital relationships and communication, marital conflict resolution, and happiness. The purpose of the art therapy program was to naturally express one's inner feelings, understand and accept oneself and others, and to verify the effect on enhancing marital relations and communication by making positive changes. Methods Data were collected from January 1 to June 30, 2021 for the couple of members of the Cultural Center in N city. After confirming the research purpose and program composition, 16 couples who expressed their willingness to participate voluntarily were selected, and 8 pairs were wirelessly composed of experimental groups and 8 pairs were composed of control groups. For this study, a couple interaction scale, a couple communication scale, a couple conflict scale, and a happiness scale were used, and a dynamic house-tree-person picture test was conducted. The independent sample t-test and the corresponding sample t-test were statistically analyzed using SPSSWIN 25.0, and 22-verification and covariance verification (ANCOVA) were performed. In addition, the qualitative research method was introduced, and the interviews with participants and activity memo information were used to analyze them with Colaizzi's phenomenological research method. Results As a result of the study, it was verified that the couple art therapy program was effective in enhancing marital relations and communication. In the process of couples exploring themselves, expressing their thoughts, and expressing their suppressed feelings through art activities, their understanding of themselves and their spouses increased, and sincere communication served as an opportunity to resolve conflicts between couples and realize their willingness to change for each other. As a result, it was found that the improvement of the relationship and satisfaction between couples can be the basis for determining the happiness of couples. Conclusions This study is a study that introduced qualitative research after focusing on quantitative research. For this study, the reconstructed art therapy program was operated, and the marital interaction scale, marital communication scale, marital conflict scale, and happiness scale were conducted before and after the marital art therapy program. As a result, it was found to be significant in the effectiveness test of the couple art therapy program, and it was statistically significant in marital interaction, marital communication, marital conflict, and marital happiness scale. In this regard, it was also found to be high satisfaction in program satisfaction. These significant results showed that even in the analysis of the introduced qualitative research, sincere communication between couples was the willingness to increase understanding between couples, resolve conflicts, and change between couples.

Abstract (sommario):
Objective: Marital conflicts are normal in a couple’s life, and the important thing is how they resolve such conflicts. This integrated therapy plan has been created by considering several theories to reduce couples’ marital conflicts. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a unified protocol based on the McMaster model of the family, compassion-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based therapy on emotional divorce and marital boredom of women with marital conflict. Methods: The present study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test, post-test design and a control group. The research population included all women with marital conflicts referred to four selected counseling centers in District 2 of Tehran Municipality, Iran, in 2019. A total of 100 women were selected by a convenient sampling method. Then, they filled out the emotional divorce scale and the marital disaffection scale. They were then randomly assigned to the intervention and control groups (each group with 15 participants). The participants in the intervention group underwent the intervention within a 12-session training package. After the 3 months, the follow-up test was taken. Upon the completion of the intervention, the participants in both groups completed the questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) by SPSS V. 24 software. Results: The results indicated a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in terms of emotional divorce (P=0.001, F=57.67) and marital boredom (P=0.001, F=26.80) in the post-test phase. Besides, after 3 months, using Bonferroni post hoc test, it was found that the difference in scores in both post-test and follow-up stages was significant (P=0.005) Conclusion: The transdiagnostic treatment can decrease emotional divorce and marital boredom of women with marital conflict. This unified model can be applied by family and marriage counselors and other mental health professionals to resolve conflicts between couples.

Abstract (sommario):
Background: Divorce rates have increased during the last decade, leading to a greater focus of marital scholars on the importance of understanding couple-maintaining strategies within marital life. Distresses in couples are attributable to difficulties controlling felt, experienced, and expressed emotions; thus, emotion dysregulation is a core stressor in couples with maladaptive responses. Objective: The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) on outpatient couples to treat emotion dysregulation. Methods: We recruited 20 couples with marital distress in which partners presented emotion dysregulation. We offered the couples the opportunity to join a couple DBT group at their convenience and based on the immediate availability of treatment slots. We measured the treatment efficacy using psychometric tools (the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS) and the Dyadic Adjustment Ccale (DAS) at baseline and after DBT therapy. Results: Both male and female partners presented significant improvements in marital adjustment DAS and emotion regulation scores. Female partners showed significantly greater amplitude changes in both scales. Female partners showed significant improvement in most DERS subscales (except the GOALS subscale); on the other hand, male partners showed significant improvements in impulse, awareness, strategies, and clarity subscales. We found significant improvements in most DAS subscales in both sexes; only affectional expression remained unchanged before and after therapy. Conclusion: DBT for couples is an effective approach to treat emotion dysregulation.

Abstract (sommario):
Background and aims: A lack of assertiveness can worsen marital conflicts and cause psychological symptoms. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of psychodrama and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on the assertiveness skills of women with marital conflicts. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on all married women with marital conflicts visiting the counseling departments of cultural centers at the Municipality of Isfahan (Iran) in 2021. Cluster sampling was employed to select 60 women, who were then assigned to three 20-member groups called CBT, psychodrama, and control using a simple random method. The participants completed the Assertion Inventory before and after the intervention and 60 days after the post-test. The repeated measures ANOVA via SPSS-22 was then used for data analysis. Results: The mean (±SD) of the post-test score of assertiveness skills in the psychodrama and CBT groups was 123.40 (±23.83) and 111.25 (±22.77), respectively, which was different from the control group (83.20 (±21.24)). According to the results, CBT and psychodrama affected the assertiveness components of women with marital conflicts instead of control cases (P<0.001). Furthermore, there were no significant differences between CBT and psychodrama regarding effects on women’s assertiveness components. Conclusion: Considering the positive effects of CBT and psychodrama on improving assertiveness, it is recommended that counseling and psychotherapy centers help women with marital conflict improve their assertiveness skills by providing suitable conditions for conducting CBT and psychodrama sessions.
