This diploma thesis deals with the issue of material flow and lean manufacturing in a given section of a selected manufacturing company. A empresa Japonesa Toyota foi pioneira na descoberta de uma nova forma de gestão com o desenvolvimento do Sistema Toyota de Produção (Toyota Production System,TPS) Este sistema integra princípios da filosofia “Lean Manufacturing (LM)” utilizando os métodos “Just-in-time”, “Kanban” e “Heijunka”. É notória a diferença na capacidade competitiva das empresas, o que se deve a diferenças a nível organizacional e, ainda, à correta adaptação das ferramentas LM à atividade da empresa.
