Tout au long du XIXe siècle, l'accroissement constant de la demande en plomb suscita la recherche de nouvelles ressources minières dans la région méditerranéenne. Le Laurion, sur la côte orientale de l'Attique, en Grèce, connu depuis l'Antiquité pour ses gisements métallifères, riches en argent et en plomb, fut redécouvert par des entrepreneurs français, qui se montrèrent prêts à investir des capitaux considérables et à y installer de nouvelles industries. D'abord, ils entreprirent l'exploitation des scories laissées en surface par les anciens mineurs grecs, puis ils établirent une nouvelle Compagnie pour l'exploitation des minerais de plomb et de zinc. Fondée en 1875, la Compagnie française des mines du Laurion devint le noyau du développement industriel moderne et le centre de toutes les innovations intervenues dans le domaine de la métallurgie pendant plus d'un siècle. Les ingénieurs français, employés dans les mines du Laurion, supervisèrent les travaux d'exploration minière, d'installation de l'usine et des grandes laveries pour le traitement des minerais de plomb et de zinc, et y introduisirent la technologie moderne et de nouveaux appareils. En outre, ils mirent en place un nouveau port, un réseau des routes empierrées et un chemin de fer, s'occupèrent de l'habitat ouvrier, planifièrent une cité ouvrière, une des premières en Grèce, et, ainsi, réussirent à jouer un rôle décisif dans la formation du paysage particulier du Laurion. En s'appuyant sur des sources historiques en Grèce et en France, et menant une enquête parallèle in situ sur le principal ensemble industriel et sur les sites d'extraction de la région lavréotique, la recherche présente a comme but de révéler l'œuvre des ingénieurs français de la Compagnie française des mines du Laurion et leur rôle fondamental dans la formation du Laurion moderne
Throughout the 19th century, the constant increase in demand for lead prompted the search for new mineral resources in the Mediterranean region. The region of Lavrion, on the east coast of Attica, in Greece, known since ancient times for its metal deposits, rich in silver and lead, was rediscovered by French entrepreneurs, who were ready to invest considerable capital and to establish their new industries. First, they undertook the exploitation of the slag left on the surface by the ancient Greek miners, then they established a new mining Company for the exploitation of lead and zinc metal deposits. Founded in 1875, the French Company of mines of Lavrion became the nucleus of modern industrial development and the center of innovation in metallurgy for over a century. The French engineers, employed in the Laurion mines, supervised the works of mining exploration, and the installation of the large laundries for the treatment of lead and zinc ores, introducing modern technology and new devices. Furthermore, they undertook the installation of a new port in Lavrion, of a network of gravel roads and of a modern railway, built lodgings for the employees of the entreprise, planned a company town, one of the first in Greece, and, thus, succeeded in playing a decisive role in the formation of the particular landscape of Laurion. Relying on historical sources in Greece and France and conducting, in parallel, an in situ investigation of the main industrial complex and of the extraction sites of the Lavreotic region, the present research aims to reveal the work of the French engineers of the French Company of mines of Lavrion and their fundamental role in the formation of the modern Laurion

The goal of the graduation thesis is building of a working replica of the motorcycle engine Laurin&Klement, type TB from 1902. The thesis focuses on the manufacturing of cast parts. The piece production of the engine has been based on extant original pieces, missing pieces have been manufactured according to period photographs and leaflets. This method can be applied for production of missing or damaged pieces of historical motorcycles‘ engines.

Abstract (sommario):

This thesis adopts a social-cultural approach to the history of politics to explain contradictions in the "Laurier legend" and connect social and political history traditions. It argues Laurier is best understood as the representative of Quebec-Est where he engaged in the social-cultural work of politics, linking citizens to their government. Quebec-Est guided him consistently. It was an urban, working-class, commercial and industrial, French Canadian Catholic riding, devastated by economic decline in the mid-nineteenth century. This social and economic context reduced the immediacy of national conflicts over language and religion and encouraged compromise, to secure government resources needed to renovate the port, bridge the St. Lawrence, build a railway to the west and regain the city's "rightful" place in Canada. It fostered a political culture characterized by intense partisanship, personal accountability and broad public interest in local businesses---including their labour disputes. When Laurier was first elected, Quebec-Est had relatively close-knit business and social networks. As it grew, social relations became more structured, impersonal, and a greater range of activities reduced public space for politics while the Church successfully resisted and adapted to these modern trends, regaining local influence. The thesis traces this evolution through changes in the instruments for shaping and expressing public opinion that connected Laurier to Quebec-Est: the Liberal party, the party newspaper, election campaigns and patronage. Much was expressed through conflict between two factions: 'les vrais liberaux,' organized around pre-existing personal networks of businessmen and labourers, and 'les parentistes,' a more impersonal organization of larger, more conservative, businessmen structured around patronage. When, one, or both, held sway, Laurier fulfilled the riding's ambitions. When they fought, he could address other concerns. A definitive 'vrai liberal' victory over 'les parentistes' in 1906 deprived Laurier of a disciplined organization for patronage distribution, encouraging him to rationalize the civil service and newspaper management. He remained loyal to the party, but it had become disconnected from the larger manufacturers, Catholic labour unions and Church organizations with growing influence in the riding. The party's new structure and Laurier's reforms explain his defeat in 1911; he even---very nearly---lost his seat that year.

Les entreprises s’inscrivent dans un espace-temps caractérisé par une concurrence qui croît en étendue et en vitesse, ce qui exacerbe la pression sur les dirigeants et les employés. Pour assurer la persistance de leur entreprise, ces derniers doivent élever sans cesse sa capacité de réussir, sa compétence organisationnelle. Les chercheurs qui s’intéressent au monde des entreprises n’ont pas manqué de le noter et ont élaboré différentes conceptions de cette compétence ou de phénomènes qui lui sont associés, comme l’apprentissage organisationnel, les capacités organisationnelles ou les capacités dynamiques d’une organisation. Comment les membres d’une organisation s’y prennent-ils pour en assurer la compétence? Voilà la question à laquelle je tente de répondre à mon tour. Je fais d’abord un examen critique de travaux liés à cette question, puis je propose un cadre conceptuel prenant appui en partie sur la théorie de la structuration et sur les concepts de communauté de praticiens et d’apprentissage expérientiel. Suit un cadre opératoire dans lequel je justifie le choix d’une étude de cas, je caractérise l’entreprise étudiée, une manufacture d’armoires de cuisine et de vanités de salle de bain, et j’indique comment je m’y suis pris pour récolter les matériaux pendant un séjour de près de six mois dans cette entreprise, et comment j’ai exploité ces matériaux. Que ce soit dans leurs activités de tous les jours ou face à des situations nouvelles, les dirigeants et employés de l’entreprise, parfois de façon individuelle mais plus souvent de façon collective, mobilisent différentes propriétés structurelles de l’entreprise et, chaque fois qu’ils le jugent utile, n’hésitent pas à modifier ou à abandonner certaines d’entre elles, ou à en créer de nouvelles afin d’élever leur capacité d’atteindre les objectifs qu’ils se fixent, notamment en ce qui a trait à la qualité des rapports humains, au climat de travail, au volume de production, à sa qualité, à la productivité ou au rendement financier. Cette entreprise réussit en mobilisant ses membres, en favorisant l’expérimentation, l’apprentissage et la production de connaissances nouvelles qu’elle intègre ensuite dans ses protocoles et ses routines, créant un cycle qui élève sans cesse son niveau de compétence.
Businesses today exist in an environment characterized by endlessly expanding competition, the speed and scope of which are increasing the pressure on both managers and employees. In order to guarantee their long term existence, businesses must continually strive to improve their capacity for success and their organizational competence. Researchers interested in the business world have not failed to notice this and have elaborated different conceptions of this competence or its related phenomena such as organizational learning, organizational capabilities or the dynamic capabilities of an organization. How do the members of an organization go about ensuring the competence of their organization? This is the question I am trying to answer. First, I will make a critical examination of the existing research linked to this question. Then, I will propose a conceptual framework partly based on structuration theory and on the concepts of community of practice and experiential learning. An operational framework will follow in which I justify the choice of a case study, characterize the firm studied, a manufacturer of kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, indicate how I came to gather materials during a stay of close to six months in this business, and how I exploited these materials. Whether in their daily activities or when facing new situations, managers and employees of the firm, sometimes in an individual manner but most often in a collective manner, will mobilize different structural properties of the firm. When considered useful, they will not hesitate to modify or abandon any of these structural properties or create new ones in order to increase their capabilities of achieving their objectives, particularly in matters concerning human relations, the work climate, production output and quality, productivity and financial returns. This firm succeeds in mobilizing its members, in encouraging experimentation, learning and production of new knowledge which is integrated into its protocols and routines, thus creating a cycle that constantly increases its level of competence.

C'est un site appartenant peut-etre a l'ensemble portuaire romain du golfe de fos, debouche maritime de la ville d'arles. Il a ete occupe du 3e siecle avant j. C au 7e siecle de notre ere. Les structures portuaires comprennent des digues et des jetees en blocs tailles, ainsi qu'un quai construit a sec dans un caisson de bois remarquablement conserve. Parmi les epaves, l'epave 2 est particulierement connue pour son architecture, car elle avait conserve son pont et possedait encore un element de gouvernail. Le site est peut-etre celui identifie sous le dilis posito dans l'itineraire maritime d'antonin. Il etait au debouche de plusieurs plaines fertiles, ou etaient installes des villas et des sites agricoles romains. La principale caracteristique de cette etude est de montrer l'unicite du port a travers des elements tres differents, structures portuaires, epaves, villa maritime, tombes, aqueduc, et depotoir comprenant un important materiel archeologique, provenant de l'ensemble du bassin mediterraneen
The roman port of laurons (martigues, bouches-du-rhone) was built under the protection of a rocked creek with three coves. The site was perhaps the property of the roman portuary complex in the gulf of fos, the seaside opening of the city of arles. It was occupied since the third century bc until the seventh century ac. The harbour strucutres comprise dykes and piers in big cut stones, as well as un quay, builded out of the wet in a wood caison, well preserved. Among the wreks, the boot 2 is particularly well know for its architecture, because it preserved its deck, and a element of the rudder. The site id perhaps dilis positio,which is called so in the "itineraire maritime" of antonin. It was at the opening of several fertile plains, where ware builed romans villas and agricultural sites. The principal characteristic of this study is the evidence that a harbour site is a unity through very different elements, harbour strucutres, wrecks, maritime villa, graves, aqueduc, and dump, with a important lot of archaeological artefacts, coming of the whole of the mediterranean basin

The first part of the thesis summarizes the main stages of laurie lee's literary life. In the second part, the autobiographer is seen as a witness of his time, giving accounts of what happened in england and spain between the two world wars. The third part analyses the main themes of his works : childhood as a paradise lost, the young man's wanderings, war as a descent into hell, and finally how he is led to write. The fourth part shows to what extent laurie lee's work is the result of artistic elaboration, the sources of his inspiration, how the autobiography is built, the change of style over the years, and the need to keep in touch with the reader

Magister Artium - MA
There is the growing recognition that literary works are not independent, but have often been impacted on by various other media. Complex intersections arise between printed text and other media such as photography, film, music and visual arts. The central theoretical concept underpinning this thesis is a study of intermediality, which interrogates the various ways non-literary media are used as a resource or reference. This analysis will be explored in the novels of Lauren Beukes, and will focus on the intermedial meaning-making and influences of both analogue photography and digital visuality in the dystopian society of Moxyland (2008). Furthermore, it will examine visual art in Broken Monsters (2014) and delineate visuality in terms of “bodies”, as is evident in the depiction of ruin porn and contemporary art.

Detailed geochemical studies of the dispersion patterns of selected elements (Cu, Pb, Zn, Ag, Mn, As, Fe, Ni, Co) were undertaken in the drainage sediments and soils in the Lavrion peninsula with the objective of demonstrating the application of geochemical techniques to the search for previously unknown mineral deposits. The study area comprises three geological units; the Anavissos, Kamareza and Plaka, each with its distinct stratigraphy and structural history. The Kamareza and Anavissos units are separated by the Legraina fault, while the overlying Plaka unit is separated from these underlying two units by an unconformity. Both geological and geochemical data indicate that karstic mixed sulphide mineralization is largely restricted in the Kamareza and Plaka units. An area of approximately 65 square kilometres was chosen for detailed stream sediment, soil, rock and bigeochemical studies. Digestion of 0.2 gms. Of minus 80-mesh material in 25% (HNO3 at 90°C) for 4 hours appeared to provide the optimum technique for dissolution of elements such as Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Fe and Ni. Analysis was performed by AAS for all these elements. Arsenic was also determined by the cold extraction method (James, 1957). The data obtained were treated by graphical, univariate and multivariate statistical techniques including histograms, bar-diagrams, graphs, frequency distribution analysis, moving averages, correlation coefficient, factor and regression analysis. Other properties including pH, conductivity, organic matter content and CaCO3, and both Fe-and Mn-oxide concentrations, were also investigated in order to establish their influence on the distribution patters of the various elements. It was demonstrated that within the study area mechanical dispersion dominates over chemical. In spite of contamination from extensive past mining activity, geochemical stream and soil surveys produce reliable distribution patterns in the Mediterranean environment of Lavrion. The occurrence of previously unknown mineralization was proven by trenching in target areas indicated by geochemical patterns. Biochemical surveys were also found to yield useful information, although they are time consuming and suffer from problems associated with the uneven distribution of plant species.

Le sujet de cette thèse est le traitement des problèmes de traduction du bengali en français d'une œuvre dramatique de Tagore, et de sa réception en pays européen. Ce traitement tient compte de la distance des civilisations et des différences linguistiques qui peuvent séparer une œuvre littéraire bengalie d'un public français. Il s'oriente, en outre, sur les exigences scéniques de l'œuvre ainsi que d'après les traits pertinents de de la pensée de Tagore. La première partie de ce travail apporte des solutions concrètes aux problèmes de traduction rencontres dans "Le Laurier-sang" (Roktokorobi) la deuxième partie situe Tagore dans la continuité du théâtre indien et fait l'étude de la composition du "Laurier-sang" en relation avec les traditions théâtrales, classiques et populaires. La symbolique de la pièce est élucidée notamment à la lumière de deux courts textes de l'auteur, traduits également dans la première partie. Enfin elle fait l'exégèse des chants de la pièce définissant leur rôle et leur sens symbolique. La troisième partie fait l'analyse et le commentaire d'une sélection représentative des problèmes résolus dans la première partie selon la classification suivante : problèmes relatifs aux faits de civilisation, problèmes à dominante linguistique, problèmes relatifs à une intention particulière de l'auteur. Dans la conclusion sont apportés des éléments de réflexion sur l'actualité de cette pièce écrite en 1923 à la suite d'un voyage de l'auteur en Europe et sur les champs de bataille de la Première guerre, ainsi qu'aux Etats-Unis des années vingt. Ce fait est décisif pour interpretation du "Laurier-sang"
The present thesis treats the problems of translation from Bengali into French with reference to the translation of a Tagore play and its reception in European countries. This treatment takes into account the cultural distance and the linguistic differences separating a Bengali literary work from the French public. It is also directed by the criteria of scenic necessities as well as by some fundamental currents of Tagore’s thought and poetry. "Le laurier-sang", French translation of the play "Roktokorobi" is the first part in which the problems have found real solutions. The second part situates Tagore in the continuity of the Indian theatrical traditions, classical as well as popular. The symbolic dimension of this play is elucidated mainly in the light of two short texts of the author, also translated in the first part. The second part contains also an interpretation of the seven songs of the play, defining their role and their symbolic significance. The third part analyses and comments a representative selection of translation-problems resolved in the first part. This analysis is accompanied by the following classification: problems related to cultural facts and phenomena, problems of mainly linguistic character, problems related to a particular intention of the author. The conclusion brings some elements of reflexion on the visionary character of this play written in 1923 following Tagore’s visit to European countries, to the battlefields of the first war and to the United States in 1920-21. His impressions of this voyage played a decisive role in the conception of this play and are of importance in its interpretation

Abstract (sommario):

Childhood sexual violence (CSV) is a pressing public health priority, but limited data on such violence is available in low and middle income contexts. This mixed methods study in Indonesia assessed prior research and asked children for advice on how best to study CSV. The results suggest that CSV is a problem in Indonesian children's lives, but insufficiently addressed in prevention programs. Challenges to researching CSV in Indonesia include methodological, sociocultural and geographical factors. The Indonesian government should invest in a broad research agenda, including gathering nationally representative data, to help reduce violence and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The morphology (noun and adjective) of the Laurynas Bortkevičius book „Kiales krizaus...“ (1819) Summary “Kiales krizaus…”, written by Laurynas Bortkevicius, was published in 1819 in Vilnius. It, as well as many other works of authors from Eastern Lithuania, is a religious book containing fourteen scenes of the stations of the Cross or Calvary. There are prayers, canticles and the descriptions of the stations of the Cross in it. The major part of the book is translated from Latin. “Kiales krizaus…” is written in the Eastern language script variant. There is huge variety of phonetic, morphological, syntactic peculiarities and archaic forms of the Eastern Aukštaičiai dialect in it. This book enables us to acquire more knowledge of the specific Eastern script of the beginning of 19th century. It also helps to understand the peculiarities of its grammatical structures, the situation of the Eastern dialects and the changes of the nouns and adjectives forms during the process of the language standardization. After the thorough analysis of nouns and adjectives made on this religious publication, the conclusions can be drawn as follows: 1. The book is written in the eastern Aukštaičiai dialect. However phonetic, morphological and lexical peculiarities as well as peculiarities of spelling are not consecutively used in the authors publication. 2. Dėmesys skiriamas ir romano sakinių įvairovei: aiškinamasi, kokiomis laiko formomis konstruojamas pasakojimas, kokios struktūros sakiniai dominuoja, kaip jie siejami, aptartos ir sintaksinės figūros. Romano tekstas yra ne tik prasmiškai ir formaliai siejamas, bet ir skaidomas – aptariama kompozicinė ir stilistinė teksto segmentacija.
Linguistic expression of the novel Kvėpavimas į marmurą (Breatning into Marble) by Laura Sintija Černiauskaitė analyzed from various aspects which presented in the thesis. The relation of the title and separate part of the novel are analyzed, the vocabulary, semantic stylistic devices, linguistic means used synonymously are discussed. The attention is paid also to variety of the novel sentences: the tenses constructing the narration are analyzed, the dominating sentence structures, their relation, syntactical figures are discussed. The text of the novel is related not only meaningfully and formally, but is also separated – compositional and stylistic segmentation of the text is discussed.

O grupo Characidium lauroi pertence ao gênero Characidium e é formado por seis espécies, C. lauroi, Characidium sp. piabanha, C. japuhybense, C. oiticicai, C. schubarti, e Characidium sp. iguaçu, que se distribuem nas bacias do Rio Paraíba do Sul, Drenagens Costeiras da Baía de Ilha Grande, Rio Tietê, Rio Paranapanema e Rio Iguaçu, respectivamente. Os estudos disponíveis sobre as relações evolutivas entre as espécies que compõem esse grupo baseiam-se em dados morfológicos que, entretanto, não foram suficientes para resolver as relações entre C. oiticicai, C. schubarti e Characidium sp. iguaçu. Estudos citogenéticos ou moleculares não foram aplicados até agora às espécies do gênero Characidium com o intuito de verificar a existência do grupo C. lauroi. Técnicas que envolvem o uso de DNAmt, como PCR-RFLP, DNA barcoding e sequenciamento podem auxiliar na resolução dessa questão, uma vez que as espécies do gênero Characidium formam um grupo interessante para a aplicação dessas técnicas, principalmente por apresentar algumas espécies com limites taxonômicos muito próximos, como as espécies que compõem o grupo C. lauroi. No presente estudo, técnicas de citogenética clássica e molecular, assim como a técnica de PCR-RFLP, o uso do DNA barcoding e sequenciamento foram utilizados na tentativa de analisar e elucidar as relações filogenéticas entre as espécies do gênero Characidium, principalmente com enfoque nas relações entre as espécies do grupo C. lauroi. Os resultados citogenéticos encontrados indicam que esse grupo de espécies pode ser definido pela presença de cromossomos sexuais diferenciados do tipo ZZ/ZW portadores de cístrons ribossomais e pela presença de um cariótipo relativamente estável. No entanto, essas características não estão restritas ao grupo C. lauroi. Os resultados de PCR-RFLP, assim como os resultados obtidos por meio do DNA barcoding e sequenciamento, indicam que as espécies C. lauroi e C. sp. piabanha podem formar uma única espécie, da mesma forma que as populações de C. schubarti. No entanto, as espécies do grupo C. lauroi não formam um grupo monofilético. A relação entre as espécies do grupo C. lauroi com C. pterostictum e C. lanei pode indicar que essas espécies tenham passado por uma separação recente e que, não necessariamente essas duas espécies façam parte do grupo C. lauroi, mas sim que fazem parte de um grupo maior de espécies do gênero Characidium, o que é corroborado até por dados citogenéticos. Comparações entre as topologias encontradas com base em dados morfológicos e moleculares e suas implicações na delimitação e nas relações encontradas entre as espécies do grupo C. lauroi são discutidas.
The group Characidium lauroi belongs to the genus Characidium and consists of six species, C. lauroi, Characidium sp. piabanha, C. japuhybense, C. oiticicai, C. schubarti and Characidium sp. iguaçu; which are distributed in the basins of the Paraiba do Sul River, Drainage Coastal Bay of Ilha Grande, Tietê River, Paranapanema River and Iguaçu River, respectively. Available studies on the evolutionary relationships between species that make up this group are based on morphological data, however, were not sufficient to address the relationship between C. oiticicai, C. schubarti and Characidium sp. iguaçu. Cytogenetic and molecular studies have not been applied so far to the species of the genus Characidium in order to verify the existence of group C. lauroi. Techniques that involve the use of mtDNA, such as PCRRFLP, DNA barcoding and sequencing may help in resolving this issue, since the genus Characidium form an interesting group for the application of these techniques, mainly for some species with taxonomic boundaries very close, as the species that make up group C. lauroi. In this study, techniques of classical and molecular cytogenetics, as well as PCR-RFLP, the use of DNA barcoding and sequencing were used in an attempt to analyze and elucidate the phylogenetic relationships among species of the genus Characidium, mainly focusing on relations between species of group C. lauroi. The cytogenetic results obtained indicate that this group of species can be defined by the presence of sex chromosomes differentiated ZZ / ZW carrying ribosomal cistrons and the presence of a relatively stable karyotype. However, these features are not restricted to the group C. lauroi. The results of PCR-RFLP and the results obtained by barcoding DNA and the sequencing, indicate that C. lauroi and Characidium sp. piabanha may form a single species, in the same way that populations of C. schubarti. However, the species of group C. lauroi not form a monophyletic group. The relationship between species of group C. lauroi with C. pterostictum and C. lanei may indicate that these species have experienced a recent separation and, not necessarily these two species are part of group C. lauroi, but they are part of a larger group of species of the genus Characidium, which is supported even by cytogenetic data. Comparisons between the topologies found based on morphological and molecular data and its implications for delimitation and relationships found between species of group C. lauroi are discussed.
