Testo completoThe thesis was divided in three parts, the first is theoretical as for second and third parts are practical. The first part divided in six chapters, it processes characteristics and covers it the two languages since the rebirth until the modernisation. In following chapters, we have studied the similarity and differences in the evolution of the two languages and the linguistic situation in Israel. The second part is composed of four chapters, they study the different loanwords introduced in Hebrew, with a semantic, phonetic and morphological analysis. The third part is reserved to Hebrew words in Arabic. After the Hebrew words study that are find in the Koran, We divide the loanwords in Arabic in several semantics fields and analyzed it semantically, phonetically and syntactically
Tran, Thanh Binh Minh. "Façons de parler bilingue franco-vietnamien dans les conversations quotidiennes au sein des familles vietnamiennes immigrées en France". Nice, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006NICE2013.
Testo completoLinguistic and cultural inter-generational transmission is particularly present in the Vietnamese families who have emigrated to Nice, Lyons and Paris in France. Therefore, transmission has been the subject of an investigation where the investigator also belongs to the group Transmission was studied by means of recorded informal conversations. What was privileged was the communicative skill of the speaker. The analysis of conversations shows that on the qualitative level, the Vietnamese language is altered in its contacts with the French language. This results in loanwords, loan translation and code-switching, which in turn create new linguistic forms, structures and features. An effective transmission of the Vietnamese language to the younger generations was observed and assessed. It namely appeared under teknonymy. This revealed the existence of a strategy to maintain practices and values that are at the root of the Vietnamese identity. Transmission resurfaces in speeches that take into account combinations of both systems, at the linguistic and the cultural levels. Last, but not least, restructuring due to contact between the languages and linguistic practices that are contextualised by and in a “grammar-of-interaction” generate a bilingual, French-Vietnamese speech. This will be defined by such notions as repertoire-in-progress and layering

Testo completoThe subject of this thesis concerns the comparison of modern Arabic and modern Hebrew only in the domain of lexicography. In our study, we have analyzed - we hope- the formation of nouns of instrument and instrument from the point of morphological pattern, phonological and less etymological criterions. We have discussed the lexical patterns, the syllabic structure, the stress, compounding, arabicuzation and hebraicization in the two Semitic languages. We have concluded that the identification of the borrowing and the calque can be reached if we take -on the same level- the consonants and the vowels in modern Arabic and Modern Hebrew. In order to have the attitudes of Arabic and Hebrew speakers about our corpus, we have conducted a questionnaire in Paris and Cairo. A great number of Arabic scholars don't know the Arabic corpus. This result concerns the lexico- graphical method of Arabic, and not Arabic itself

Testo completoThis thesis is primarily a critical edition of Isaac Magriso's MEʿAM LOʿEZ on PIRQEY ʾAVOT (Constantinople, 1753). The MEʿAM LOʿEZ is a large biblical commentary in Judeo-Spanish initiated by Rabbi Jacob Huli in the 1720s in Constantinople, PIRQEY ʾAVOT is included in the commentary on Leviticus. The commentary is written in a peculiar Judeo-Spanish and printed in rashi Hebrew script. The thesis establishes the text, making it readable and comprehensible thanks to adapted spelling, restored punctuation, and a detailed final glossary. The text is accompanied by a critical apparatus (sources, variants) and a study of the author's Judeo-Spanish language; an in-depth study of the place and role of Hebrew in the commentary (borrowings, calques and quotations) and a study of the author's particular style, the means he employs and the effects he aims to achieve
Lecaudé, Peggy. "La notion de puissance : les équivalents latins du grec dynamis". Thesis, Paris 4, 2010. http://www.theses.fr/2010PA040210.
Testo completoDynamis is a key word in the Greek thought, not only in philosophy, in which it has assumed a particular significance since Aristotle, but also in medicine, the natural sciences and mathematics. The present work aims to present the translation equivalents adopted by the Latin authors and translators in classical antiquity and in late or medieval Latin, according to a twofold approach. First, from an onomasiological perspective, we try to identify and analyse the different ways dynamis (as well as the words semantically connected to it) appears in a corpus of Latin texts, from Plautus’ comedies to Boethius’ translation of Aristotle’s Organon : as a loan word, a formal neologism, a transposition or, as in most cases, a translation. Second, from a semasiological perspective, we focus on the impact of the translation from Greek on a lexical group made of Latin words frequently used to translate dynamis, namely potestas (“possibility, power”), potentia (“potentiality, potency”), uis (“strength, violence”) and uirtus (“value, quality, virtue”). The uses of these words in a corpus of literary and scientific texts are examined, and the question is raised of how far they may be considered as semantic calques from the Greek term dynamis. The work thus aims to reconstruct a moment in the history of the Greek notion : that of its “conversion” into Latin, which was decisive for its expression in modern languages, in French as puissance, potentialité, vertu, virtualité, etc., in English as potency, potentiality, virtue, virtuality, etc
Sebotsa, Mosisili. "La contribution de la traduction à l'expansion lexicale du sesotho". Thesis, Lyon, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016LYSE2121/document.
Testo completoWhilst translation is simply defined as a communication process whose main objective is to reproduce in the target language a text that is functionally equivalent to the source text (Reiss 2004: 168-169), the approach taken in this study views translation as an intercultural and systematic operation whose objective is to capture the message from the foreign language, to decrypt it taking into account cultural nuances or those inherent in the field at hand and to render it in the clearest possible manner using linguistic and extra linguistic elements which are comprehensible to the speaker of the target language. This study is aimed at determining the contribution of translation to the lexical expansion of Sesotho, an area which has been little explored by specialists of the language. The core issue is centred on the observation that Sesotho neologisms are not well documented, so that it is hard to measure the contribution of translation towards the lexical expansion of Sesotho. Analyses of morphology, derivation, compounding, borrowing and denomination are mainly focused on productivity in order to determine whether translation as a discipline contributes towards the creation of new words in the language. The study begins by positing the hypothesis that the interaction with the Western world necessitated the translation of numerous concepts which were absent from the then existing Sesotho systems. This process of interaction contributed a new dynamism that helped the language to bridge the terminological gap, to open up and adapt to new realities. In order to put this hypothesis to the test and arrive at well-researched and reliable conclusions, I attempt to probe three issues of concern: firstly, what is the structure of the Sesotho language compared to that of the English language as the source language of most translations into Sesotho and compared to that of the French language as the language in which this study is presented? Secondly, considering that Sesotho is used simultaneously with English even though it is not a techno-scientifically inventing language, what is the role played by the processes of borrowing in the lexical expansion of Sesotho? Thirdly, from the word-formation point of view, how does Sesotho respond to the terminological deficiencies in various fields of specialisation? To address these issues, Doke (1954) and Matšela et al. (1981) serve as references to situate Sesotho among the Bantu languages, to highlight the functions of the class prefix and to establish the difference between Sesotho and English and French compounding. Secondly, the theory advanced by Lederer (1990) serves as a springboard to analyse the syntactic, semantic and morphological influences that English has on Sesotho and to present the different borrowing processes. The third issue is addressed based on the theories presented by Diki-Kidiri (2008) while the theories proposed by Dispaldro et al. (2010) and Baboya (2008) led to the decision to call upon specialist informants to confirm the original hypothesis. The results obtained provide evidence that translation has, in fact, contributed to the lexical expansion of modern Sesotho, even though this has not been well documented. The study recommends collaborative work between Lesotho, Botswana, Namibian and South African linguists in order to open new avenues of linguistic studies on Sesotho with the aim to measure and monitor the evolution of the language
Thévenon, Patrick. "Vers un assistant à la preuve en langue naturelle". Chambéry, 2006. http://www.theses.fr/2006CHAMS036.
Testo completoThis Thesis is the conclusion of three years of work in a project named DemoNat. The aim of this project is to design a system able to analyse and validate mathematical proofs written in a natural language. The general scheme of the system is the following : 1. Analysis of the proof by means of linguistics tools ; 2. Translation of the proof in a restricted language ; 3. Interpretation of the translated text in a deduction rules tree ; 4. Validation of the deduction rules with an automatic prover. This project envolved teams of linguists and logicians, the first two phases being the task of the linguists, and the lasts ones being the task of the logicians. This thesis presents in more details the project and develops mainly the following points: - Definition of the restricted language and its interpretation ; - proprerties of the principal type of terms of a typed λ-calculus with two arrows, part of a linguistic tool, the ACGs ; - Description of the automatic prover
Nicolas, Christian. "Recherches sur les calques sémantiques de termes grecs en latin". Paris 4, 1993. http://www.theses.fr/1993PA040010.
Testo completoLatin writers often used the process of semantic calque (or semantic borrowing), more or less consciously, namely in technical texts. A latin term gains thus in meaning, the way its semantic greek counterpart once had. The thesis starts with theoretical, terminological and methodological chapters ; then it deals with concree examples : casus-ptosis, natura-physis, ratio-logos, causa-aitia and gratia-kharis, before opening on to a conclusive and prospective chapter
Peña, Marcela. "Rôle du calcul statistique dans l'acquisition du langage". Paris, EHESS, 2002. http://www.theses.fr/2002EHESA069.
Testo completoIn order to learn a language it is necessary to discover the words and the manner in which they are combined while also respecting grammatical rules. In this thesis, I study the role of the calculations of the transitional probability to segment continuous speech, to discover word-candidates and to infer structures. The results confirm that statistical calculations carried out between adjacent and not-adjacent syllables, and between consonants contribute to segment the continuous speech and could play a role in the lexical acquisition the lexicon. I also show that the generalization of the word's structure cannot be based exclusive on this type of calculations. However, the discovery of the structure can be triggered by not-statistical cues such as pauses. My results suggest that the analysis of the statistical pattern and the not-statistical cues (probably prosodic) of the speech contribute to different aspects of the language learning
