Landskabet som iscenesætter er et essay af Christine Fentz som omhandler Secret Hotels Vandrefore- stilling A WAY, Mols (2016). Under titlen ”Landscape Dialogues” undersøger Secret Hotel i disse år krydsfeltet mellem deltagerinddragende scenekunst og relationel kunst, bæredygtige tilgange, landskaber og interdisciplinære samarbejder. Vandreforestillingen A WAY blev skabt som en del af denne fortløbende undersøgelse i et samarbejde med den tyske instruktør og teaterpædagog Uta Plate.

Denne artikel tager udgangspunkt i udtalelser om Grønlands hovedstad Nuuk som ”et stykke Danmark på klipper”. Formålet er at vise, hvordan og hvorfor Nuuk er omstridt, og hvordan synet på byen har ændret sig over tid. Ved hjælp af landskabsbegrebet defineret som en relation mellem det sociale livs forgrund (os som vi er nu) og baggrund (os som vi kunne være) påvises en sammenhæng mellem synet på byen og den politiske udvikling i Grønland. Hvor den anti-urbane fortælling var fremherskende fra sidst i 1960’erne, hvor byerne var associeret med danskhed og fremmedgørelse, og grønlænderen og byen blev set som uforenelige størrelser, blev den fra 2000 i stigende grad afløst af en mere inkluderende og kompleks grønlandskhed. I landskabsterminologi var situationen den, at folk levede et utilpasset, danskpræget dagligliv i byen, men drømte om et andet liv i pagt med grønlandske traditioner og værdier. Hvor forgrund og baggrund lå meget langt fra hinanden, er der sket en tilnærmelse ved, at byen er blevet approprieret som et grønlandsk landskab. Nuuks status har således ændret sig i retning af stigende anerkendelse. Men Nuuk beskyldes samtidig for at videreføre en dansk centraliseringspolitik og kan i den forstand stadig ses som ”et stykke Danmark på klipper”. ENGELSK ABSTRACT: Bo Wagner Sørensen and Søren Forchhammer: The Town and the Settlement – Landscapes of “Greenlandicness” This article analyses statements about the Greenlandic capital Nuuk as being “a piece of Denmark on rocks”. The purpose is to show how and why Nuuk is contested and how this perspective has changed over time. Using the concept of landscape defined as a relation between the foreground (the way we are now) and background (how we could be) of social life, the article demonstrates how this perspective of the town is connected with the political development in the country. The anti-urban narrative was dominant from the late 1960s when towns were associated with “Danishness” and alienation, but it was increasingly replaced by a more inclusive and complex “Greenlandicness” from around 2000. In landscape terminology it appeared that people lived incompatible “Danish” everyday lives in towns, but dreamt about another life more in agreement with Greenlandic traditions and values. While foreground and background used to be far apart, they have come closer as the town has been appropriated as a Greenlandic landscape. Thus the status of Nuuk has changed towards increasing approval. However, Nuuk is also criticized for carrying on a Danish policy of dominance and centralizing. The article constitutes an attempt at developing a new approach to Icelandic national art, supported by an analysis of its role in the process of constructing “Icelandicness” and the Icelandic identity. It enters a dialogue with the study Kryptokoloniale landskaber: tid, sted og rum i billeder af islandsk landskab 1874–2011 by Ann-Sofie Nielsen Gremaud, with a concurrent focus on Icelandic landscape painting of the period 1874–1944 and its relation to Danish art. The Nordic, and especially the Icelandic art was routinely overlooked in the European artistic and historical narration, including the Polish scholarly environment, but it is well worthy of a closer scrutiny. Two fundamental assumptions that define the analysis presented herein are that the modern national art of Iceland derives from the Academic tradition in Denmark and that, concurrently, Icelandic artists participated in the process of developing national identity in opposition to the Danish model. In order to find confirmation for the posed theses, methodologies close to post-colonialism and crypto-colonialism have been used, as well as ones inspired by imagology and based on interdisciplinary research in the fields of art history, history, anthropology and cultural studies.

På grundlag af den eksisterende forskningslitteratur præsenterer artiklen et overblik over unge danskeres seksuelle liv. Unges livsbetingelser trækkes op, og vilkårene for deres seksuelle relationer og identitetsdannelse gennemgås. Det vises, at flertallet af seksuelt aktive unge er veltilfredse med deres aktuelle sexliv, og at den brede ungegruppe håndterer senmodernitetens udfordringer med stor pragmatisk sans. Samtidig er forskellige typer risikoadfærd dog udbredt blandt teenagere, og en mindre gruppe unge synes at have vanskeligt ved at honorere drømmesamfundets krav om refleksivitet, foranderlighed og navigation i komplekse sociale landskaber. Af samme grund argumenteres der for mere systematiske forskningstiltag samt for tidssvarende forebyggelse og sundhedsfremme blandt unge.

Frilandsmuseer og historiske oplevelsescentre er som en slags tidsmaskiner, der formidler kulturhistorie gennem genstande, bygninger, landskaber og en række andre elementer. Men hvilken rolle spiller planter på sådanne besøgssteder? Vi mennesker er planteblinde i mange sammenhænge, er vi det også når vi går på besøg i udendørs, rekonstruerede og levendegjorte fortidsmiljøer? Hvordan kan man arbejde med at tydeliggøre plante-menneske relationer gennem tiderne på sådanne besøgssteder, og hvilke effekter har forskellige formidlingsgreb i denne sammenhæng? I artiklen undersøges publikums oplevelser af planter på et frilandsmuseum og et historisk oplevelsescenter og de måder som planterne tillægges betydning og inddrages i museumsbesøget identificeres og diskuteres.

Åbningen af Nationalpark Thy i 2008 var en skelsættende begivenhed i Thy. I årene op til og efter åbningen af Nationalparken udviklede der sig en ny idé om ”Smagen af Thy”, en eufemisme for Thy som ”terroir” og hjemsted for en særlig stedbundet fødevare- og madkultur. Denne artikel undersøger ”Smagen af Thy” ved at fokusere på plantearter, som indgår i nogle af de mest velkendte produkter associeret med Smagen af Thy, og som samtidig har en lang historie i Thy. Ud fra bl.a. interviews med udvalgte fødevareproducenter analyserer vi, hvordan planterne på forskellig vis indgår i skabelsen af Thy som terroir – som råvarer, produktionsmåder eller fortælling. Vi argumenterer for, at planternes roller og betydning i det nye terroir indebærer adskillige paradokser i forhold til deres historiske betydning. I Thy som terroir mødes lokale og globale kulturelle strømninger, og planternes traditionelle brug og betydninger genopfindes på nye måder. På den baggrund diskuterer vi udviklingen af ”Smagen af Thy” som både natur- og kulturarvsliggørelse af visse af landsdelens planter og i videre forstand de landskaber, de vokser i.

Denne artikel giver en historisk gennemgang af, hvordan og hvorfor den danske folkeskolelærer Hans Dragehjelm (1875-1948) introducerede Danmark for sandkassen i 1907. Artiklen bidrager særligt med en indsigt i hans pædagogiske forståelse og overvejelser om sandkassens betydning for byens børn og deres leg, som han fremlægger i sit første værk, Barnets leg i sandet fra 1909. Hans ambition var at bringe naturen ind til storbyen København ved at skabe børnevenlige rammer med sandlegepladser, som kunne rumme børns leg. Han argumenterede for, at alle børn nærede et stærkt behov for leg og syssel med materialer skabt af naturen selv og for leg i naturrige arealer som afgørende grundlag for at børn kunne vokse op og blive til sunde og fornuftige voksne. Han så leg som en helhedsorienteret læringsform, der udviklede både krop og psyke, hvilket bidrog positivt til børns naturlige modningsproces og opdragelse. Sand var særligt pædagogisk velegnet for alle børns legeudfoldelser, fordi sandleg understøttede et samspil mellem det enkelte barns hånd og ånd med et naturligt legetøjsmateriale, der hverken kunne gå i stykker eller var dyrt at anskaffe. Dragehjelms ambition var at give alle byens børn plads og mulighed for en sund opdragelse i samtidens voksende urbane landskaber ved hjælp af naturens legetøj: sand.

ABSTRACT: Previous studies of the dísir have tended to focus on either their links with fertility or use of the term to designate a wide range of supranatural female figures. This study reassesses the textual evidence for the nature of these beings, applying Jens Peter Schjødt’s notion of “discourse” to argue that we should not be searching for a single coherent category of beings. Rather, it argues, our sources depict three semidistinct “dísir” discourses: a group of prosperity-focused female figures with strong links to local landscapes worshipped during the late pagan Iron Age; the use of the signifier “dís” as a poetic synonym for a range of female figures in verse; and a medieval textual discourse of “martial dísir” construed on the basis of poetic texts, but which has no basis in pre-Christian religion. RESUME: Tidligere studier af diserne har haft en tendens til at fokusere enten på deres forbindelse til frugtbarhed eller på brugen af termen til at beskrive en bred vifte af overnaturlige kvindeskikkelser. Dette studier revurderer tekstgrundlaget for disse væseners natur og benytter Jens Peter Schjødts begreb ”diskurs” til at argumentere for, at der ikke er tale om én standardiseret kategori af væsener. I stedet argumenteres der for, at kilderne afslører tre mere eller mindre særskilte diskurser om ”dísir”: En gruppe kvindefigurer med fokus på velstand med stærke bånd til lokale landskaber, som blev dyrket i den sene jernalder; brugen af termen ”dís” som et poetisk synonym for diverse kvindeskikkelser i digte; og en middelalderlig tekstdiskurs omkring ”krigeriske dísir” konstrueret ud fra poetiske tekster, men uden understøttelse in førkristen religion.

The article discusses matters concerning place by way of three prose poems byDanish writer Louis Jensen. The readings understand place by way of the neighbouring concepts of landscape and space. They set out from a phenomenological understanding of place, presenting basic insights of this approach (especially using the works of Edward S. Casey) and proceeds by way of the challenges given by the prose poems to a critique of phenomenological place theory. The critique points out that it tends to marginalize historic and semiotic aspects of place and questions its insistence on continuity between experience and knowledge. Instead the article suggests that a global sense of place involves discontinuity between place and space, and further more it is argued that the idea in Casey that place has been overruled by space in the modern era, might by correct from the point of view of philosophy, but it is not in accordance with the history of art and literature.

Roskilde Festival is the largest Danish music festival and provides an empirical basis for a discussion of the relationship between the social and aesthetic in contemporary cultural events. With the unfolding of the concept of social aesthetics, it becomes clear that the aesthetic potential of the festival is not limited to what is going on “on-stage”, but unfolds throughout the festival landscape. Based on ethnographical observation and phenomenological analysis of two different experience positions: “the panorama” and “the performative mass”, it is discussed how participation unfolds in the socio-aesthetic landscape of the festival. Through a review of the mass as an aesthetic phenomenon it is discussed how the aesthetic of participation succeed in transcending the dichotomy between subject and object ultimately leading to an aesthetic of dissolution.

The article explores how nurses form their professional identity through orientations in and out of different communities of practice that they encounter during their basic education and first encounters with the labour market. Inspired by Wenger-Trayner and Wenger-Trayner (2015), professional identity is understood as subjective orientations in the landscape of communities of practice that constitute the nursing profession. The analysis is empirically grounded in qualitative, longitudinal studies of a group of nurses who have been ethnographically followed for seven years so far. The analysis shows how nurses' professional identity in 2023 develops as movements through a landscape of communities of practice. The analysis shows how professional identity is shaped by participation within the individual community of practice, and that this participation involves both engaging and disengaging learning processes.

Artiklen baserer sig p&aring; unders&oslash;gelser af Turistforeningen for Danmarks virke med hovedv&aelig;gt p&aring; perioden 1923-1945. Neds&aelig;ttelsen af &bdquo;Udenrigsministeriets Udvalg for Turistpropaganda i Udlandet" i 1934 bet&oslash;d en gennemgribende forandring, hvor staten for f&oslash;rste gang involverede sig aktivt i Turistforeningens organisation<br />og arbejde. Turisme blev herved i h&oslash;jere grad opfattet som et eksporterhverv og indrettet efter sit &oslash;konomiske indtjeningspotentiale. Hermed lagdes grunden til den organisation og den turismeopfattelse, som kom til at dominere efterkrigstidens danske turisme, mens tidligere, konkurrerende syn p&aring; turismen p&aring; sigt marginaliseredes. Overordnet bet&oslash;d mellemkrigstiden b&aring;de i organisation og repr&aelig;sentation en forskydning af turistarbejdet fra provinsens lokale, folkelige forankring til byernes, prim&aelig;rt k&oslash;benhavnske, erhvervsinteresser.<br /><br />Abstract: A Happy Marriage of Convenience?<br />The Danish National Tourist Organization c.1888-1967<br />Turistforeningen for Danmark was the Danish National Tourist Organization from 1923-1967. It replaced Den danske Turistforening which dissolved in the turmoil following World War I, and was itself replaced in 1967 by Danmarks Turistr&aring;d. This article offers an outline of the development of Turistforeningen for Danmark with a main focus on the interwar-period 1923-1939. Through an analysis of the organization's activities to attract foreign visitors as well as to<br />&bdquo;enhance"the travel of Danes within their own country it is shown, how two distinct understandings of &bdquo;tourism" co-existed, and was balanced against each other, within the organization. Commercial interests, primarily based in Copenhagen and the larger tourist destinations, saw tourism as an economic activity and an &bdquo;exporting trade" to be exploited in an ever-increasing international tourism<br />market. On the other hand were the more than 100 local tourist associations, to a large degree non-commercial, which saw tourism as an educational or &bdquo;ideal" activity, meaning cultural and educational where visiting scenery, prehistoric sites, historic town centres and seeing local customs should teach locals and visitors alike about the region and the nation at large. The basic partnership<br />between commercial interests and local tourism was maintained throughout the period, but government involvement in 1935 made Turistforeningen for Danmark a state-sponsored organization, dramatically increasing the available funding, but also shifting the balance within the organization in favour of commercial interests.<br />It also meant noticeable changes in the representations of Denmark through brochures and guidebooks and the beginnings of a modern tourism discourse of 'fairy-tale Denmark', stressing tranquillity, laid-back city-life, social welfare and design. This development was halted by World War II, but though co-operation (as well as organizational debate) persisted throughout the 1950's and 1960's, the commercial and professional understanding of tourism became increasingly dominant, thereby pushing different ways of managing and thinking about tourism to the margins.<br />

Denne artikel fokuserer på de mange ruiner af bunkers fra Anden Verdenskrig, som stadig sætter deres præg på den jyske Vesterhavskyst. Dens anliggende er at undersøge denne tunge, komplekse og uafklarede kulturarv, der i dag er vokset sammen med kystlandskabets natur, i en nutids- og efterkrigsoptik. Empirisk materiale fra et nyligt forsknings- og udviklingsprojekt, der søgte at udnytte et af de tidligere tyske forsvarsanlæg på nye måder, suppleres med historiske eksempler og diskuteres i lyset af kulturteoretisk litteratur, der ikke alene ser bunkerne som historiske spor, men også som æstetisk-arkitektoniske strukturer med fortsat appel og fascinationskraft.

Formålet med denne artikel er at give et aktuelt billede - baseret på for- holdene i 1993-94 - af udenlandsk TV´s rolle i Danmark gennem en kvantitativ beskrivelse af "TV-landskabet" og udbudet og forbruget af TV, totalt, fordelt på programkategorier og på national oprindelse. Artiklen er i helt overvejende grad faktuel. I Sepstrups "Udenlandsk TV" (1995) forsøges resultaterne relateret til periodens mediepolitik og ak- tuelle kulturpolitiske problemstillinger, mens der her alene er tale om en begrænset påpegning af resultater, der er specielt relevante for aktuelle kultur- og TV-politiske problemstillinger.

Med afsæt i forarbejdningen af kartofler til avanceret kartoffelstivelse i et område af Jylland, der tidligere lagde grund til udvinding af brunkul, udforsker vi i denne artikel former for liv på en stærkt industrialiseret jord. Gennem en kulturanalyse i jordhøjde i et særligt menneskeskabt landskab viser vi, at jyske kartofler har alt muligt at gøre med vingummi, brunkulsudvinding, hjorte, asiatiske nudler, parmesanost og frembringelsen af nye forbindelser i verden. Ved at rette blikket mod sådanne forbindelser i et landskab gennemgribende formet af ressourceudvinding, diskuterer vi muligheder for forskellige arters sameksistens og retter blikket mod både monstrøse og vidunderlige effekter af industriel virksomhed. Begrebet antropocæn bruger vi til at undersøge det menneskeskabte brunkulslandskab som en mangetydig økologi sammensat af både planlagte og løbske elementer.

Fintech – teknologier for finansielle tjenester – har blitt et begrep. Sjelden har et teknologiområde skapt så mye interesse, så mange muligheter, så vel som utfordringer og konkurranse som nettopp fintech. Årsaken er sammensatt, men det dreier seg hovedsakelig om en utjevning av styrkeforholdet mellom etablerte og nye aktører innen finansielle tjenester og de endringer dette medfører i landskapet. I 2015 begynte ting å endre seg i det nordiske landskapet. De store bankene og de store teknologiaktørene innen denne sektoren begynte sakte, men sikkert å åpne opp for at innovasjon og nyskapning måtte opp og frem på agendaen. Utviklingen har vært formidabel, fra en total oversikt som viste et 30-talls fintech-oppstartsselskaper i Norge i 2015, til en oversikt som viser 130+ oppstartsselskaper i 2019.Samtidig ser vi at utviklingen går vel så raskt i våre naboland, som også satser hardt på utviklingen og skaleringen av nye teknologier innen finanssektoren. Konkurransen tilspisser seg, og artikkelen ser nærmere på hvilke områder Norge har best forutsetninger for å konkurrere, og hva som må til for at Norge henger med som fintech-nasjon.

National Landscape as a Medium of Cultural Memory in Snoilsky’s Svenska bilder: The aim of this article is to illuminate, from an ecocritical perspective, the spacial aspect of cultural memory in Carl Snoilsky’s cycle of poems Svenska bilder (Swedish Pictures). According to Jan Assmann, cultural memory locates its signs in a natural space, whereby whole landscapes can also function as a medium of cultural memory. Consequently, they become semanticised, elevated in their entirety to the status of a sign. Thus, a landscape becomes a topographical text of cultural memory, a place of memory that Assmann calls mnemotopos. Drawing on one of the most important tropes of ecocritical thought, i.e. the pastoral, the article examines how Snoilsky’s collection of poems presents the Swedish landscape and how this landscape becomes a vehicle of cultural memory.

Med baggrund i dét, vi ved om de danske moskéer, fra henholdsvis Religion i Aarhus (2013), Moskeer i Danmark (2006) samt Moskeer i Danmark II (udkommer efteråret 2017), vil denne artikel mere specifikt præsentere resultaterne af en eksplorativ og kortlæggende undersøgelseaf moské-landskabet på Facebook. Spørgsmål som ’Hvor mange moskéer bruger Facebook?’, ’Er der forskel i repræsentation af anerkendte trossamfund og ikke-anerkendte trossamfund?’, ’I hvor høj grad bruger moskéerne mediet?’, ’Hvad opdaterer de generelt om?’ og ’Hvordan vil degerne fremstå?’ vil blive forsøgt besvaret. Resultaterne vil efterfølgende tolkes i lyset af ovenstående problemstilling, dog mere specifikt: mediernes enten komplementerende eller begrænsende effekt på moskéernes autoritet og autenticitet.

Barrows, Landscape and SettlementField surveys at the Tobøl-Plougstrup barrow groupA group of barrows located between the villages of Tobøl and Plougstrup in the parishes of Føvling and Jernved in Ribe County has on several occasions been the object of intense archaeological interest. The group consists of 26 burial mounds all situated close to or in some cases almost directly on the eroded banks of the Kongeå river meadows (fig. 1). Extraordinarily lavish grave goods together with conspicuously large mounds have contributed to an impression of an area of special significance in prehistory. It is, however, the recovery of well-preserved oak log coffins from the Early Bronze Age in three different mounds, which in particular has drawn attention to the locality. The coffins were in every case uncovered under adverse circumstances leaving only scattered information on find circumstances and grave goods. As part of a larger research program the Tobøl-Plougstrup area was revisited in 1999 where a number of drillings were carried out in selected mounds. The aim was to obtain knowledge on prehistoric soil development, principles of barrow construction and preservation of organic matter in the mounds. In the core of several mounds the presence of an iron pan encapsulation was detected. These iron pans facilitate the preservation of organic matter and have been observed in connection with almost all discoveries of oak log coffins. Recent investigations suggest that the iron pans have developed because of special constructionmethods. This has added to the impression of the special role of the barrow group. In the period 2002-2004 the five ­metre-high Skelhøj mound will be excavated. With an iron pan encapsulated core the excavation opens the possibility of improved insights into a variety of aspects of Early Bronze Age society. Furthermore, soil analyses of sod material from the other mounds throw light on long-term cultural exploitation of the areas in the vicinity of the individual mounds. Existing information on Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age finds suggests that settlement was restricted to the southern side of the Kongeåen, opposite the mounds (fig. 1). This leaves an impression of a secluded ritual landscape on the northern banks of the river. Focusing on the overall role of mound building and its effect on the development of settlement and landscape it was decided to carry out a systematic field survey of the area. The applied survey strategy had to enable studies of both regular occupation sites and patterns of “off-site” land use. Based on this demand and a wish to preserve the compatibility of the collected material it was decided to apply a strategy of adaptive cluster sampling. Adaptive cluster sampling is a recently developed statistical sampling procedure intended for clustered populations. It is based upon an initial randomised or systematic distribution of sample units in a regular grid. If a predetermined critical value is exceeded in a unit, its neighbouring units are also sampled (fig. 2). The method in this way focuses on the relatively most informative clusters of the material without losing the statistical properties. This makes it well suited for archaeological field surveying.In practice, the sampling at Tobøl-Plougstrup started out with a systematic grid of 20x20 m squares in which every 9th square was initially subjected to a 20 min. single person survey. The total sample area covers five square kilometres (fig. 3). It was decided to collect all artefacts, estimated to be more than 200 years old. If a square exceeded a critical value of artefacts four of the adjacent squares were surveyed. The method proved very effective for sampling and delimiting, even in connection with small concentrations of cultural remains (fig. 4). Information on all collected material is contained in a digital database (fig. 5 gives a schematic description of the database in Danish). The survey is still preliminary and the results should be treated accordingly. However, some overall tendencies are observed. The distribution of four chronologically significant categories of ceramics reveals tempo-spatial patterning (fig. 6). Flint of good quality is very scarce in the area, which is reflected in several aspects of the flint assemblage, for instance the size and exploitation of the cores (fig 7). As regards the production of larger tools like thin-butted flint axes, only the last stages of reduction are present suggesting that these implements entered the area almost completed (fig. 8). The distribution of formal flint tools is to a large extent in accordance with the distribution of ceramics. Two early/ Neolithic/early middle Neolitihic concentrations on the southern side of the Kongeå stand out in particular (fig. 9). Bifacial tools from Late Neolithic and Early Bronze Age are found primarily at three different locations. In the central part of the barrow group, between two concentrations of barrows, some scattered finds of bifacial tools are present (fig. 10). This distribution of finds is compared to the evidence of prehistoric soil development as attested by the drillings in the mounds. Based on this comparison a zoning of the landscape exploitation is hypothesised (fig 11). In conclusion, as regards methodology, adaptive cluster sampling has been quite manageable in the field and must be recognised as a preferable alternative to conventional sampling and surveying. Med udgangspunkt i konceptet retten til byen bidrager denne artikel til at forstålokalsamfundets forandringskapacitet i forhold til at bremse markedsstyreturbanisering. Retten til byen forstås som en kollektiv ret til indflydelse på,hvordan byen udvikler sig. Samtidig er det også en ret til at gentænke voresforhold til byen og dens landskab. På den måde handler retten til byen både omat forsvare byen mod gentrificering, men også om retten til at forestille sig enby med flere urbane og grønne fælleder. Artiklen præsenterer et case-studiefra Chile, hvor lokale borgere bekæmper gentrificeringen af et historisk kvarteri Valparaíso. Ved at frame privatejede grønne områder som urbane fællederudfordrer beboerne det skarpe skel mellem private og offentlige rum i byen,hvilket stiller spørgsmål ved den aktuelle byudvikling i Chile. Casen viser,hvordan kampen for bevarelse af stedets natur- og kulturarv er forbundetmed en stærk lokal identitet og en forståelse af byens landskab som værdifuld.Vi kan i en dansk kontekst lære af den chilenske case, at det er muligt atbremse gentrificering af byen, hvis der opbygges en bred politisk konsensusblandt borgere og lokalpolitikere for at beskytte grønne områder som urbanefælleder.

Vi viser korleis synleggjering av ulike spr&aring;k p&aring; UiT er eit resultat av spr&aring;kpolitikk p&aring; ulike niv&aring;, men ogs&aring; er p&aring;verka av meir implisitte faktorar som lokale og nasjonale spr&aring;khierarki og, ikkje minst, konstruksjonen av ein regional institusjons&shy;identitet som blir uttrykt gjennom det semiotiske landskapet meir generelt. Som ramme rundt denne analysen gjer vi dessutan ein ekskurs til det som i 2011 utl&oslash;yste ein intens debatt i Troms&oslash; kommune, nemleg sp&oslash;rsm&aring;let om kommunen burde eller ikkje burde bli innlemma i forvaltningsomr&aring;det for samisk spr&aring;k. Den m&aring;ten denne problemstillinga er blitt takla p&aring; av politiske organ i kommunen, og ikkje minst debatten om den i medieoffentlegheita, st&aring;r i skarp kontrast til den fleirspr&aring;klege freden som omgjev universitetet og universitets&shy;sjukehuset.</span><!--EndFragment-->

Artiklen tager udgangspunkt i bogen, The Troubles in Ballybogoin fra 2003, hvor William F. Kelleher undersøger, hvordan det nordirske grænselands beboeres hverdagspraksisser – fra hvem de interagerer med til deres fysiske bevægelser i landskabet – er styret af en ”social hukommelse” omkring adskillelse og politisk identitet, der har rødder i den nordirske konflikt og den britiske imperiale fortid. Ved hjælp af Michel de Certeaus begreb om rumlige, kulturelle praksisser viser Kelleher, at hverdagspraksisser stabiliseres af, at udformningen af byrummene i grænselandet er forankret i en allestedsnærværende fysisk adskillelse af befolkningsgrupper, som hele tiden bliver italesat af befolkningen. I yderligere dialog med Sarah Greens begreb om linjer som ”spor” og ”tidevandsmarkeringer” og igennem sine feltstudier i grænselandet, særligt i og omkring den nordirske by Derry, genbesøger forfatteren disse hverdagspraksisser for at illustrere, hvordan grænselandet gennemsyres af linjer, der deler ”de to sider af huset”.
