Testo completoJewelry designers might not be as customer-centered as Kotler recommend. Additionally, they are not constantly seeking to grow and make the most profit out of satisfying consumer needs better than competitors. However, it is imperative even for an individual designer to examine what the customers want and demand as well as think of a plan to satisfy this demand. Consequently, the purpose of this study is to create a guideline for a marketing plan for a beginning jewelry designers using jewelry designer Anniina Dunder as an example. A qualitative method was chosen for this study in form of interviews and observation. Moreover, secondary data was collected in order to gain a wider and clearer picture of the subject.
Based on this study an individual actor has every possibility to reach the desired level of profit in the jewelry market in Helsinki by designing and producing jewelry. Reaching this level of profit requires activeness, customer-centered view and productivity from the designer. Consequently, individual designers should start paying more attention to potential customers’ needs and wants even when designing collection jewelry and be constantly aware of changes in these wants in order to satisfy customers even in the future.

Testo completoLocal retail jewelry leaders of Saudi Arabian (S.A.) small to medium enterprises (SMEs) have struggled to survive through declining profits and increasing business foreclosures, thus threatening the sustainability of the Saudi retail sector and the Saudi economy. A globalization strategy to enhance profitability for jewelry retail SMEs in S.A. is needed, given the limited options for improving profitability. Despite this acknowledged need, leaders in S.A. have refrained from such a strategy because they lack knowledge of economic attraction features to target in the globalization process. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study using discriminant analysis was to examine specific countries' economic attraction features in the historical globalization strategy of a leading U.S. global jewelry company that could facilitate the implementation of a successful globalization strategy for a local Saudi jewelry SME retail company. The study addressed the effects of 6 independent predictor variables of 25 target countries' economic attractions on the dependent grouping variable, which distinguished among 3 order-of-entry groups according to the U.S. company's date of entry in each country between 1972 and 2009. Results indicated that except for the Hofstede index, no other variable had a significant role in the classification of the target countries. Because there was a scarcity of research on this topic, the study is beneficial for its theoretical and academic value, and may be practical for the derivative benefits of catalyzing business growth by empowering leaders of local, successful luxury brands in S.A. to implement their own globalization expansion process and increase employment in the Middle East.

Throughout history jewelry has been worn to meet the needs of different occasions and classes. Moreover, the divergent backgrounds and mainstream aesthetic tastes of different eras mean that jewelry always showcases the unique aesthetic view of a specific period in time and space. The artist crafts a brand new visual language for jewelry that combines ancient and modern methods, aesthetics, semiotics and visual elements, so that when viewers glance at the work they immediately grasp its sense of balance. However, when looked at in more detail the contrast that comes from those conflicting elements becomes more apparent, forcing viewers to ask how they can be combined in perfect balance. The artist attempts to create something new by using a collage, combination or refinement of ancient and modern elements to express “ancient forms and modern ideas” and “integrating ancient and modern approaches.” In this way, although the superficial form of the jewelry appears to belong to a fixed time and culture, the deeper interplay of elements allows the piece to wander between “past” and “present,” “China” and the “West,” showcasing the paradoxical appearance of newly combined elements.

Composite material creation is done through the careful selection of materials, numerous experimentations, trial and errors, and finalized by deciding what type of feelings the creator wishes to transfer to the viewers. For this creativity project, the main material is “strings”. Strings can be seen in our everyday lives and are used vastly. They come in different width and length, with different arrangements there are limitless possibilities. This series of work utilizes the collocation of metal working and strings to investigate the different forms of “string”, and what special effects can be achieved to allows “strings” to be viewed differently. “Now”, I’ll be narrating the emergence of this moment. The terms presented during this time are from the process of my creation, forming puns with the theme “String Presence. Limited presence”. String is the main material for my work. “Limit” means the removal of limitations, because I want to separate the term “limit” from the way it’s being defined by people. When “limit” transforms into “limitless” its space is free. This is the idea that I wish to incorporate in to my works to diversify the forms in which metal and string can be presented and to allow strings to keep on circulating in the space that I have created.

Everyone is in pursuit of a successful life. In the process of pursuit, there are different views. And at different stages of growth, a different definition of life will also be given. Every stage of schooling, work, leisure and health has a close relationship with future life planning. Human life is limited. To find a source of happiness in life, one needs to reach the power of self-understanding and self-realization, so one can make the most of one’s life. Life is a series of decisions and choices. At different times there is only the present decision that can be made. People must focus on their own personality traits, interests, and abilities to find a suitable path of their own. The career development scholar Super (1990) divided lifetime career development into five stages: growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and decline, which also represent infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, and middle-aged period. From the five periods, the small objects representative of each of the five periods are identified in the creations. This thesis would like to apply Super’s views of life’s five stages to metal jewelry for creation and use the spoon as the starting point for the design of life’s expectations in five stages. In the Chinese saying, “Born with a golden spoon in the mouth,” the spoon symbolizes the good or bad of a person’s background at birth. According to the Super’s career development theory, every stage of life stories and expectations echoes all those living in this world and their own hopes given in each period. There are many stages in life, and different stages have different encounters. This creation represents some of the small things in every stage of their expectations in life. And it is hoped through these images will make people think and attract the public to a better life in the planning study and blessing of every life process.

In the 21st century, technological development has become the focus of society. In such an era, the development of Internet, IT, and electronics has become a target valued by the people. In such a background, science and technology bring to people a convenient life, in addition to letting people live more enriched lives filled with brilliant colors. But when people enjoy better lives, they forget about a lot of things. That is, the development of technology is built on nature that people rely on for subsistence. The natural environment was damaged by science and technology, ecology was seriously contaminated, and the nature that gave birth to life began to wither and become neglected by the majority. In view of this, as the objectives of the study, I hope to use the metal jewelry that has a feel of technology that will re-evoke people’s concerns about nature, and use the wonder of technology built on the destruction and rebirth of the ecology as the two themes. The idea echoes metal jewelry creations as the objects most close to people to remind people the importance of nature. This research will be using technology and nature as two design themes. Through technology, the things destroyed under the beautiful surface are expressed, and the beauty of nature itself given to people as interpretation. Thus, the jewelry pairs are made up of two themes to achieve a contrast effect. And finally, the TOPSIS expert questionnaire was used to do validation analysis, to understand which of the two jewelry sets has the highest appraisal, and further analysis and resolution of this outcome were conducted to understand the advantageous and disadvantageous factors of the research work. Keywords: technology, nature, metal jewelry

Abstract In developing and designing background images for jewelry, different techniques in computer synthesis and photography are used to give the images a unique touch. To achieve the best visual effect, computer software is then used to perfect computer synthesized or photographed images. Therefore, jewelry background images will likely see even more diversified development and design. To fully convey designer’s creativity, this study employs multiple layered background images in image creating the image. As background images are in high demand, the focus of this study is on developing creative background images. In this study, both the image and the message are combined through computer synthesis for faithfully conveying the creativity of the designer. Scenario tableau method and jewelry-oriented techniques are used in photographing the images. Every step in designing the background image for jewelry is highly correlated. This study first analyzes and categorizes background images used by jewelers. The effect achieved by each image is further explored to help develop new designs. Methods used by world-renowned jewelers’ are also examined and used as reference for classification. Factors influencing the background image of jewelry are also explored to establish the connection among the diversified jewelry background image designs. In addition to offering information on the formation, the designing method and the creative model for jewelry background images, this study also provides a series of background images for the jewelry industry. Invites the expert to confirm. These images are then used in designing different pieces of jewelry to demonstrate their practicality and effectiveness.

In one of its research reports, entitled “Global gemstone and jewelry market outlook and opportunities,” Research and Markets, a world market research institute, predicts an optimistic prospect of the global jewelry industries for the year of 2017, expected to reach 257 billion in US dollars. Owing to the awakening of consumer insight, the rising Asian jewelry market underscores the originality of consumer goods, which has giving rise to many customized products that have been designed and made to match consumers’ preferences when they purchase jewels and precious stones, and has rolled out optimal product portfolios for consumers. Therefore, it has become an important design demand to elevate the professional competence of jewelry designers, enable them to refer to the needs for jewelry attributes, and establish an effective evaluation model so as to inspire designers’ creativity. The objective of this study is to investigate, from the perspective of consumers, jewelry attributes that they really care about so as to offer drawings that can help consumers to choose jewelry and precious stones. The present research uses diamond rings, a category of jewelry accessories, as the objects of study. Fifty exemplar jewelry consumers and five jewerlry designers with jewelry design experience of at least eight years and three inlay designers with jewelry work experience of at least twenty years were invited. Then, use of conjoint analysis was used to conduct research on attributes and standards of diamond rings. The four attributes that mainly form diamond rings refer to the main stone shape, the main stone inlay method, the main stone and with stone, and the main stone and corner stone. The four attributes comprise a total of 500 design options, from which 25 jewelry design attribute portfolios are selected by using the orthogonal method. The drawings of these 25 portfolios would be given preference questionnaire ratings to finally produce the study findings. The research findings show the relative importance of the main stone shape is 31.8%, the main stone inlay method is 27.7%, the main stone and with stone is 26.2%, and the main stone and corner stone 15.1%. This research, by using conjoint analysis, investigates their shape preferences when consumers purchase jewelry products and aims to establish the optimal product portfolios preferred by consumers. The study findings can elevate the professionalism of jewelry design and assist designers in identifying combinations of elements of optimal patterns preferred by consumers. Then by using computer graphics, we can match the most preferred product portfolios with attribute standards, and the outcome would be able to help consumers select their preferred attributes of rings and also narrow gap between design and the preferences of consumers. The study findings can provide designers with valuable information that will help them to swiftly and accurately grip consumers’ needs and thus convert this knowledge into design ideas and shape elements. By using auxiliary software of optimal design of rings in designing customized rings in the future, designers will be able to come up with more creative ring shape concepts that answer to consumers’ needs.

Ernst Grosse, in his book The Beginnings of Art , said: The affection for jewelry is the earliest and most strong desire of human being. From ancient to modern times, jewelry, as an important decorative object, has been playing an important role in expressing the self-emotion, as well as the practical function. Females are the embodiment of it. Being a carrier of the affection, the research of Kansei image of jewelry becomes increasingly important. However, fewer researches have been done to focus on the Kansei image of jewelry based on the current literature on jewelry. Therefore, the objectives of this study are as follows: (1) to classify female jewelry lovers into different groups based on HEXACO model ; (2) to investigate the Kansei image of jewelry of different ethnic groups and find the corresponding relation of personality traits and jewelry images. The research process is divided into three stages. (1) The first stage is to screen the experimental samples and words related to jewelry. Ten types of Pandora charms and 12 words have been sorted out as the experimental sample eventually through the KJ Method. (2) The second stage is to do the Likert scale investigation based on the HEXACO model and charms image. (3) The third stage is the data analysis. On the basis of analyzing the result of the HEXACO model, the females have been divided into different groups in terms of personality by Cluster Analysis. By doing the Factor Analysis, the kinds of image factors which are corresponded to different personality traits will be discussed. In addition, the impacts of image factors on jewelry characteristics will also be discussed by ANOVA. In view of the analysis presented above, the study aims to construct a female perceptual image of jewelry, develop the image table of jewelry corresponding to different female ethnic groups, and build up the systematic impression between designers and users. The experimental results can be used as the reference for the jewelry-related manufacturers in jewelry design, sales, and use.
De, Beer Marlene. "Journey of awareness : an exploration of identity through design". Thesis, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10321/348.
Testo completoMy journey of awareness which is an exploration of my identity through design has resulted in a body of artefacts presenting as sculptures and various pieces of jewellery and a written dissertation. The sculptures include bronze castings as well as stoneware ceramic pieces. I produced silver jewellery and vitreous enamelled pieces which include some gold and glass bead detail. Although my sculptures could be considered as fairly small, working on this scale was a new experience to me as a jewellery designer who is used to working on an even smaller scale. I found it challenging to express the necessary emotion and meaning in my work while creating on such a relatively small scale. The body of artefacts is a concrete manifestation of my exploration of identity and was produced as an intuitive expression of memories and emotion. My memories are of personal experiences within a specific cultural and historical context, and the exploration forms part of a critical transformative inquiry. The motivation for this transformative inquiry forms part of a holistic de-fragmentation of my personal and cultural identity in an attempt to construct meaning and authenticity through design. The artefacts were produced in holistic cycles presenting in two distinct phases which are discussed chronologically. I recorded the process and my thoughts and feelings in a reflective journal which included a visual journal in my studio and served as a reference for my discussion of the cycles. I experienced the process of making as a ritualistic enactment of healing and the construction of meaning. In the written and illustrated submission for the award of this degree, I have endeavoured to offer an explanation of my professional and emotional development that formed part of the transformative process. I have chosen not to separate my explanation of my development as a designer and my personal development as it occurred concurrently. Digital imagery of my body of artefacts forms a record of my work offered for exhibition purposes and is included with the written dissertation.
