Abstract (sommario):
This paper explores how Mary, Queen of Scots and Elizabeth i utilized jewelry in political settings to construct meaning, represent themselves, and negotiate personal and political relationships. Studying the complexities of jewelry’s exchange and circulation between the courts of England and Scotland provides a more nuanced picture of early modern diplomacy and material culture. Jewelry provided a valuable resource from which rulers and diplomats regularly drew when framing their political discourse. Jewels used in diplomacy were as politically meaningful as the gestures and rituals of formal diplomatic audiences and domestic ceremonies. As an object of exchange with a variety of functions, jewelry was absorbent of meaning and memories. Thus, jewelry could forge bonds between those who exchanged it, and also bring about hostilities and complications.

Abstract (sommario):
The tradition of using jewelry has always preserved its importance as a means of adornment. The most precious metals and gemstones have been used in the making of jewelry for a long time, and they have been produced by developing special techniques. Gemstone and precious metal processing started in ancient times as well as in every period with the aim of providing faith, fertility, magic, and good luck; In addition to these meanings from time to time, religious rituals also included purposes such as presenting gifts to the gods or the dead, an indicator of social privilege and status, an expression of wealth and of course looking beautiful, according to the beliefs of the period. Our museums, which are active in preserving and preserving the artifacts of Anatolian civilizations today, are also home to jewelery with or without stones from all times, which were removed from our country. With this study, it is planned to determine the metal and stone types of jewelery with or without gemstones brought to the Niğde Museum during archaeological excavations or by confiscation, and to update them in the museum inventory. It is aimed to emphasize the importance of examining other antique period jewelery with or without stones, which are kept and exhibited in museums in our country, in terms of jewelry and gemology. Considering the existence of the remains of ancient civilizations in our country and the state and private history museums that have increased in recent years, the contribution of this study to our cultural tourism will be important. Abstract (sommario):
Gold is a precious metal that plays an important role in people's daily lives. People use gold jewelry as a dowry so that gold is sought after, such as earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, rings and others. However, buying and selling gold jewelry at a gold jewelry store has a different strategy. Gold sellers must carry out the gold jewelry production process to meet gold jewelry supplies and market demand. The results of the sale of gold jewelry sometimes increase and decrease every day which cannot be predicted every day, so this can affect the store to find out the profits and losses that will be obtained in the future. The purpose of this study was to determine the results of forecasting sales of gold jewelry at the Yoga Gold Shop using the single exponential smoothing method in the coming month. The results of this study resulted in March 2022 9 carat gold jewelry totaling 4191.16 grams with a 3.01% MAPE, 10 carat gold totaling 2095.53 grams with a 3.01% MAPE, Surabaya gold 1047.76 grams with a 3.03% MAPE and london gold jewelery 523.83 grams with a MAPE of 3.41%. So it can be concluded that applying the single exponential smoothing method can help in predicting the sales results of gold jewelry.

Abstract (sommario):
Jewelry in the Classical era in Indonesia, especially in the Late Classic era, occupies an important position in society. Apart from being a symbol of a person's status and position, when discussing the depiction of jewelry on a statue or relief, the jewelry worn by a character is also an indication in determining the identity of the character. Jewelry in the Late Classical era was made of gold, which was considered to have high material, symbolic, and religious value in society at that time. Based on the findings of jewelry in the Late Classic era, especially the Majapahit era, there is an interesting phenomenon, namely the depiction of animal figures as decorations or ornaments. This phenomenon is seen in the crown, earrings, and shoulder harness, as found in Trowulan. In some jewelery, the form of kalamakara (kalamakara) is displayed, which is usually depicted on the gate of the temple, as a repellent to disaster. The depiction of kalamakara in jewelry raises questions about the background behind the depiction. This research was conducted using qualitative methods through observation of four samples of Majapahit era jewelry found in Trowulan, the collection of the Jakarta National Museum. It can be concluded that the existence of kalamakara as a motif in jewelry is related to the meaning of kalamakara in Javanese society, namely as a repellent for disaster. Abstract (sommario):
The Primary objectives of this creative project were the exploration of well-known fairy tales (such as Snow White), and the process of creating interactive jewelry based on my own personal interpretation of these stories. I designed and constructed seven jewelry pieces using traditional metal working techniques along with innovative contemporary surface treatments such as etching, sandblasting and colored pencil decoration. Each piece contained a "surprise" interactive element - some pieces contain moving parts, while others contain small pieces of fabric tape on which sentences are written. These tapes are mechanized to wind up into the ring or pendant. This body of work required a variety of metalsmithing techniques including complex constructions, copper forming, casting, lathe turning, and stone setting.

Abstract (sommario):
On the base of cultural norms, it seems that it is commonly accepted that one animal is considered 'friend', while the other 'food'. Even though people's opinion may differ in regards to the world's largest animal rights organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal) (Kulkarni, 2009), the organization asks a relevant question: “ If your cat tasted like chicken would you eat her?” As I work within the contemporary art jewellery field, it is through the body, jewellery, and the conscious act of wearing it, that I would like to encourage consumers to reflect on their personal meat consumption and to connect the packaged meat to the animal it comes from: what is it that we are eating? Where does it come from? Through this essay and my work/practice, I aim to critically reflect on the different existing values between animals in our society and to inspire more conscious and well informed decisions concerning meat. This essay is a research project prior to my practical exam work at the Jewellery + Corpus Master program at Konstfack and will serve as a basis for my artistic exam work. Against this background, I look at relevant literature and case studies representative of the field of contemporary art jewellery, in order to research/address the following question in this essay: -          Is it possible to discuss complex questions within society though the media of contemporary art jewellery?  Within the field, opinions differ between art historians as well as makers; it seems that the framework of contemporary art jewellery provides the medium, on one side, with great potential to speak of issues within society, although, on the other side, the same frame work commonly hinders the medium’s ability to reach out to the general public, in order to generate a wider discussion.

Abstract (sommario):
This article consists of a survey of forms of discontinuity in jewelry design, from ecodesign and design for sustainability concepts, with the objective of contributing to the search for the reduction of the environmental impacts generated by this chain, in addition to disseminating what been carried out in different contexts of the country. For this, a bibliographic review and a systemic survey were carried out in publications of a magazine and annals of a meeting on sustainability from 2018 to 2022, in addition to the annals of the last International Symposium on Goldsmithing, Jewelry and Design (II SIDGEM) in order to seek reports and research on discontinuities in jewelry design, through the keywords: jewelry design, jewelry, sustainability, jewelry and gems. From the survey, fourteen articles were selected that served as a basis for the selection of relevant cases for this article and the construction of the summary table presented at the end.

Abstract (sommario):
Nowadays more and more computer-aided technologies and computational techniques are applied to product design. Jewelry belongs to those products. Jewelry is considered as part of human civilization and adopted to human’s needs. In recent years, computational design is applied in order to overcome the limitations of traditional CAD systems, when reaching an increased level of complexity and geometrical controls. Computational design supports the evolution of creative design and develops models as a form of the computational exploration. Furthermore, additive manufacturing (AM) pieces of equipment are widely used to create models and prototype parts in various applications. AM plays an important role, when developing jewelry models, as it is utilized with an aim to produce high-quality models in rather reduced numbers and complex shapes. In the current paper, a computer-based design tool was applied in order to develop algorithms for the generation of new artistic forms for the design of a set of jewelry. Then, Stereolithography (SLA) technique is chosen for the prototype models construction.

Abstract (sommario):
Our projects talk about knowledge and experience accumulated through time, so they work like powerful memory boxes. All that information reappears when we start sketching our first exploratory drawings. Architecture always influenced the way we see and understand the world and things in general, the “real” architecture which surrounds us every day, but maybe in a particular way the imaginary one that we can discover through set design projects, ephemeral exhibition design, even visionary drawings related to unbuilt ideas. We aim to demonstrate that jewels and architecture can share fundamental principles. When we look at a jewellery piece, we can observe its volumetric, how does light and shadow model the piece, the scale, the contrast between full and empty spaces, the composition, the sense of horizontality or verticality, its symmetry or asymmetry, its ergonomics, among other aspects but how can we relate to this intriguing object, what kind of emotions can it arouse in us? Perhaps we can play with similar feelings in other scales. In this perspective, our article focuses on the relation between architecture and jewellery applied research considering the philosophy “learning-by-doing” pursued by Charles and Ray Eames, inspiring and timeless references from the past. We follow a design methodology that implies continuous research about other authors and movements, the continuous selection of waste objects and materials, the development of sketches along with all the processes, and experimental prototyping. On the other hand, we incorporate specific goals related to product sustainability since the beginning of the present projects, namely upcycling. The main goals transversal to these experimental series consists of exploring space as a concept, interaction, and, at last, wearability. The jewel itself can have a strong presence in a certain way very close to the artwork but it is created and materialized for real people so we prefer to think about it as design because it is supposed to be owned and appropriated by someone and to contribute simultaneously to communicate their personality, to break with typified and mass fashion design, to conquer an immaterial dimension, to provoke emotion the moment we “dress” it.

Abstract (sommario):
We will discuss not only the use of diamonds in jewelry but also their significance in industry. Diamonds are not just ornaments, it is engineering marvels. The chapter will explore the application of diamonds in the industrial sector, including their use in material processing, the creation of high-precision medical equipment, and even in the aerospace industry. We will delve into the use of diamonds in drilling, cutting, grinding, and the development of high-tech materials. Diamonds, often associated with luxury and jewelry, also hold significant importance in engineering and industry. Thanks to their unique physical and chemical properties, diamonds are used in various fields where high hardness, thermal conductivity, and wear resistance are required.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper aims to shed light on changes in the saving behavior of microentrepreneurs in response to improved access to credit. This paper argues that it is necessary to extend the analysis to the shifting of assets between different forms of savings. The econometric analysis in this paper, which is based on data from IDB evaluations of its Micro and Small Enterprise Global Programs in Ecuador, El Salvador and Paraguay, concludes that increased access to credit induces borrowers to shift their savings from livestock, jewelry and other assets with low or negative returns into deposit accounts with positive returns. This shift takes place as microentrepreneurs develop an understanding of, and confidence in, the various operations and services of the financial sector. As a result of this shift, borrowers tend to achieve a better return on their savings.
