Abstract Indonesia is the country with the largest archipelago in the world, with a total of seventeen thousand islands. The term ‘maritime nation’ has actually been surging through stories of local wisdom (culture), but during the colonial period, the term lost its original significance and Indonesia came to be treated as if it were an agrarian country. This paper shows that Indonesian maritime society contains various inherited values of religiosity, including myths, legends, folklore, and oral traditions about marine cosmology. Folklore, myths, and legends have an important position in society, not only referring to cultural traditions but also containing religious or theological values that are closely related to the identity of the Indonesian nation. This paper studies the mythical figure of Nyi Roro Kidul who is considered the sea guardian. The legend surrounding the figure of Nyi Roro Kidul can serve as an important trope to develop a contextual Javanese eco-pneumatology [Holy Spirit] and help address some of the contemporary ecological issues.

AbstrakIndonesia menempati urutan ke-74 dari 79 peserta pada tes PISA yang didalamnya memuat tes literasi. Hal ini berbanding terbalik dengan kenyataan bahwa Indonesia kaya akan keberagaman termasuk keberagaman bahasa sebagai dasar literasi. Keberagaman bahasa yang memuat folklor di dalamnya nyatanya mulai tergerus zaman. Pergeseran budaya menjadikan anak-anak tidak lagi mendengar ataupun mengetahui legenda (folklor) dari masing-masing wilayahnya. Hal ini menjadi pemantik peneliti untuk mengangkat Kembali folklor untuk lebih dalam dideskripsikan struktur dan fungsinya dalam sastra lisan. Peneliti mengambil legenda Joko Satriyan dari desa Sadang, Kec. Jekulo, Kab. Kudus dengan harapan terdapat manuskrip legenda tersebut untuk dapat ditelisik, dibaca, terjaga, dan tersimpan warisan budaya Jawa. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan metode etnografi. Data penelitian diperoleh menggunakan Teknik observasi, wawancara, perekaman, transkrip, terjemahan, dan disertai dengan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian analisis struktur naratif menggunakan teori ala Maranda terdapat 8 terem dan fungsi legenda dari teori ala William R Bascon adalah empat fungsi yang tersirat dalam pembentukan cerita. Dari hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa cerita Joko Satriyan masuk ke dalam unsur legenda yang memiliki terem dan fungsi sebagai folklor yang harus dilestarikan keberadaannya, salah satunya melalui penyimpanan manuskrip dalam riset ini.Kata kunci: struktur, fungsi, folklor AbstractIndonesia ranks 74th out of 79 participants in the PISA test which includes a literacy test. This is inversely proportional to the fact that Indonesia is rich in diversity, including the diversity of languages as the basis for literacy. The diversity of languages that contain folklore in them is starting to erode with time. The cultural shift made children no longer hear or know the legends (folklore) of their respective regions. This has become a trigger for researchers to bring back folklore to deeply describe its structure and function in oral literature. Researchers took the legend of Joko Satriyan from the village of Sadang, Kec. Jekulo, Kab. Kudus with the hope that there will be a manuscript of the legend so that it can be investigated, read, preserved, and stored as Javanese cultural heritage. The method in this study is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic method approach. Research data were obtained using observation techniques, interviews, recordings, transcripts, and translations, and accompanied by documentation. The results of the analysis of the narrative structure using Maranda's theory show that there are eight terms and the functions of the legend from William R Bascon's theory are the four functions implicit in story formation. The results of the research prove that Joko Satriyan's story includes elements of legend which have a term and function as folklore that must be preserved, one of which is through the storage of manuscripts in this research.

Tulisan ini membahas situs-situs Candi Agung, Tiang Mahligai Junjung Buih, dan Pertapaan Pangeran Suryanata di Taman Purbakala Candi Agung, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memahami akulturasi budaya asli dan asing yang telah terjadi pada ketiga situs tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan arkeologi dan semiotika budaya dengan mengelaborasi aspek-aspek kualitatif datanya. Aspek-aspek yang dibahas adalah bentuk dan fungsi candi, nama dan fungsi situs pemandian dan pertapaan, nama-nama tokoh legenda yang terkait dengan keberadaan candi, dan peristiwa-peristiwa dalam legenda. Subjek kajian terdiri atas dua aspek dokumentasi, yaitu visual (foto-foto situs) dan verbal (legenda). Subjek visual berupa dokumentasi pribadi pada tahun 2010. Subjek verbal terdiri atas buku-buku dan jurnal-jurnal yang membahas subjek penelitian, yaitu Hikayat Banjar, Hikayat Lambung Mangkurat, dan Tutur Candi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya akulturasi budaya Jawa dan Kalimantan, baik dalam bentuk bangunan candi, keberadaan situs pertapaan, nama-nama tokoh legenda, dan juga peristiwa.This paper discusses the sites of Candi Agung, Tiang Mahligai (bathing) Junjung Buih, and Pertapaan (hermitage) Pangeran Suryanata in the Archaeological Park of Candi Agung, South Kalimantan Province. The purpose of this study is to understand the acculturation between native and foreign cultures that had occurred at the three sites. This research uses the archaeological and cultural semiotics approach by elaborating the qualitative aspects of the data. The aspects discussed are the form and function of the temple, the name and function of the bathing and hermitage sites, the names of the legendary figures associated with the existence of the temple, and the events mentioned in the legend. The subject of the study consists of two aspects of documentation, i.e. visual (photos of the site) and verbal (legends). Visual subjects were of personal documentation obtained in 2010. Verbal subjects consist of books and journals that discuss the research subject, i.e. Hikayat Banjar, Hikayat Lambung Mangkurat, and Tutur Candi. Research results showed the occurrence of acculturation of Javanese and Kalimantan cultures, both in the form of temple buildings, the existence of hermitage sites, names of legendary figures, and cultural events.

Inscription Plumpungan and Plumpungan which is the origin story of Salatiga. Salatiga community later made into an icon inscription plumpungan the name of Batik Plumpungan. Plumpungan batik is batik drawing pattern is a form of inscription Plumpungan. As one of cultural studies, this research is very important because Inscription Plumpungan used as an icon with the name of Salatiga batik “Batik Plumpungan”. Legends and inscriptions Plumpungan in Salatiga a local cultural heritage that should be preserved and conserved as an effort to increase the cultural richness of Indonesia. The existence of legends and inscription Plumpungan used as a traditional batik icon Salatiga have an impact for the improvement of people's income Salatiga and also support an increase in the arrival of tourists both local, domestic and foreign so salatiga tourism sector in the city has increased. Small industrial centers established Batik Plumpungan together in one container that Joint Business Group. Joint Business Group is a group of batik artisans who make batik and obtain capital loans to both individuals and groups. In addition to their capital loan craftsmen also have no trouble selling the results because the centers adannya Batik buyers usually consists of tourists, both domestic, local directly come to the center of batik.

Understanding how stories of human-elf marriages are portrayed is very crucial because such stories can influence the public’s opinion regarding people who claim to have such relationships. Therefore, a study on human-elf marriage as a formula in popular fantasy contributes to a better understanding of the function and role of popular fantasy in society. Using Cawelti’s theory of formula (Cawelti, 1977) as starting point, this study tries to see how human-elf marriage as a formula may be portrayed differently in English fantasy works and popular Javanese stories. Several English fantasy works are presented as data for this study, along with Javanese stories collected from social media, television, and the box office that have strong influences from urban legends. Stories from the Arabian peninsula are also considered for their strong affinity to the predominantly Islamic society of Java. Miles & Huberman (1992) qualitative methods are applied interactively and continuously to optimize the data collection and analysis. The analysis shows that the portrayal of marriages between humans and Other beings, such as elves, fairies, or jinns, hugely depends on the manner of the depiction of Other beings involved. The elves of Tolkien are strongly associated with the heavenly light that humans long for, while the jinns in the Islamic and Javanese traditions are generally considered bearers of turmoil in human society. Consequently, the human-elf marriages of Tolkien are celebrated. All kinds of contact between humans and the jinns, however, fairy-like they may be, are avoided and even condemned in Javanese stories. This conclusion confirms that the formula in popular fantasy serves as both an endorsement or a condemnation of certain notions a particular society upholds.

The tourism industry is one of the primary needs for the life of modern society today. Because of these factors, it makes the need for recreation or tourism increases. East Sakerta Tourism Village is one of the leading tourist destinations in the Kuningan Regency. This village has a long history and interesting community culture, but not many people know about it. This study aims to investigate the history of the East Sakerta Village as a popular tourist destination in West Java. The research method used is a qualitative method. This data collection method is carried out using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. Primary data collection was carried out directly and purposive sampling by interviewing key people, namely the village government apparatus, tourism community leaders (kompepar), and the community. FGD method was used to find out about the history, legends, and culture of the East Sakerta Village. The results of FGD findings consist of the religion, the history of the village, the local culture, the historical sites, the myths and legend, and the philosophy of Sakerta Timur Village. The philosophy concept is "Tumaritis" which is a village in the Sundanese and Javanese puppet which has a philosophy of mutual protection, security, and prosperity.

<p>Kethoprak is a folk art that tells about life stories that are stories of legends that existed in society with the background of Javanese kingdom life. Ketoprak was born as a habit of society playing musical instruments, singing, and dancing. The purpose of this research is to describe or explain about, the existence of the Ketoprak Balekambang as one form of preservation of Javanese culture in Surakarta, factors that encourage and inhibit the player Ketoprak Balekambang survive in the art Ketoprak And the strategy of maintaining the art of Balekambang Ketoprak in the era of modernization as it is today. Data collection methods are done by observing, interviews and documentation. Data validity is done with the triangulation technique, i.e. data triangulation, source triangulation, methodological triangulation, research triangulation, and triangulation theory.</p><p>The results showed that to maintain the existence of Ketoprak in order not to be lost, carried out various efforts: the participation of the young generation who participated in the play of Ketoprak, the Ketoprak Balekambang as a livelihood despite the inappropriate payment and is preserving Javanese culture. The strategy to maintain the art of Ketoprak Balekambang in the modernization era, is to promote through advertising in the mass media that can be reached by the wider community. The driving factor of the existence of Ketoprak because of the taste of culture and efforts to keep exist by involving young people as a form of regeneration. Conclusion of the research results that the art of Ketoprak until now still in the midst of modernization era especially in Surakarta.</p>

Abstract: Every group of people, ethnicity, or tribe must possess cultural richness in the form of medical tradition. In the scientific world, this tradition is called ethnomedicin. In terms of therapy, etnomedicin is divided into two, namely herbal therapy and zoo theraphy. Herbal therapy is an attempt to treat an ethnic group using plant materials, while zoo theraphy is a traditional treatment using ingredients from animals. This research determines the object in the form of Javanese manuscripts which contains knowledge about zoo practices in Javanese manuscripts. The approach used is an exploratory approach by trying to make a qualitative description. In addition, this study also uses an ethnographic research approach to see animal medicine practices in the community. Treatment with zoo therapy is generally related to myths, rituals and legends. In general, manuscripts date from the 19th century, especially the Mataram Mataram era. One of the manuscripts that has become the source of the implementation of zoo theraphy is the Suluk Tambangraras script, also known as Serat Centhini. Other sources include primbon manuscripts, and practices of therapy zoos in the community. --- Abstrak: Setiap kelompok masyarakat, etnis, atau suku pasti memliki kekayaan budaya berupa tradisi pengobatan. Dalam dunia ilmiah, tradisi tersebut disebut etnomedisin. Dalam hal therapy, etnomedisin dibagi menjadi dua, yaitu herbal therapy dan zoo therapy. Herbal therapy adalah usaha pengobatan suatu etnis dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan tumbuhan sedangkan zoo therapy adalah pengobatan tradisional dengan menggunakan bahan-bahan dari binatang. Penelitian ini menentukan objek berupa naskah-naskah Jawa yang mengandung pengetahuan tentang praktek zoo dalam naskah-naskah Jawa. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan eksploratif dengan berusaha membuat deskripsi kualitatif. Di samping itu, penelitian ini juga menggunakan pendekatan penelitian etnografis untuk melihat praktik pengobatan hewan di masyarakat. Pengobatan dengan zoo therapy pada umumnya berkaitan dengan mitos, ritual, dan legenda. Pada umumnya naskah-naskah berasal dari abad ke 19, khususnya zaman Mataram Surakarta. Salah satu naskah yang banyak menjadi sumber pelaksanaan zoo therapy adalah naskah Suluk Tambangraras atau dikenal dengan nama Serat Centhini. Sumber lain berupa naskah-naskah primbon, serta praktek-praktek pelaksanaan zoo therapy di masyarakat.

Before my performance of wayang golek menak (a rod-puppet performance of Islamic legends) Pak Narto, my teacher in Central Java, was trying to dress me for the role of a dhalang, the puppeteer of a wayang. He tugged down on the batik sarong, already wrapped low about my waist, and pulled at the dress hat and jacket that pinched my head and bound my shoulders, as if he could have concealed that I was anything more or less than a large American in Javanese dress. That evening, in the village of Gombong on the South coast of Central Java, I would perform a demonstration of wayang golek menak. I had only arrived a few months before to undertake my research with Pak Narto and was hastily prepared to perform for a celebration surrounding the wedding of his wife's cousin. After my brief demonstration, there would be an all night wayang performance by Pak Narto's brother, Pak Kuswanto.

Video games are a means of entertainment for everyone, from children to adults. The genre of games now is also very diverse, ranging from adventure, puzzles to storytelling, and even many folk stories have been made into video games by several developers in Indonesia. Starting from folk tales with horror themes such as kuntilanak, legends such as cucumber mas, to folk tales that rarely sound like golden oranges. The folklore video game of buah jeruk emas is a video game that tells of a king who gets a whisper from the gods to get golden oranges. The king then held a competition to get the golden orange fruit. The player must be able to take the golden orange fruit from the enemy in the form of a Non Playable Character (NPC) who will chase the player. In making NPCs, algorithms are used to help play video games. Therefore, the author wants to apply the A * algorithm in the game of golden oranges so that npc can catch up to players according to the planned system. The main method used is A * and then the addition of the FSM method for other methods. The golden orange fruit is a video game using the A * algorithm and the FSM method after testing it can be concluded that it is enough to make the game run. With the results according to the planned system.

However, the leading Tourism Village of East Sakerta has the disadvantage of not having a thematic sign system that can provide a brand image and facilitate tourists who will visit the area. This study has the following objectives to find out a thematic concept for sign system at the East Sakerta Tourism Village. The research method used is a qualitative method. This data collection method is carried out using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. Primary data collection was carried out directly and purposive sampling by interviewing key people, namely the village government apparatus, tourism community leaders (kompepar), and the community. FGD method used to find out about the history, legends, and uniqueness of the East Sakerta Village to support the realization of thematic sign system design. The results of the FGD research show that the agreed thematic concept is "Tumaritis" which is a village in the Sundanese and Javanese puppet which has a philosophy of mutual protection, security, and prosperity

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk melakukan penelusuran apa saja oronim pegunungan dan bagaimana asal mula terbentuknya oronim pegunungan di kawasan Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode dari Sudaryanto (2015 : 201-203) dan Lauder (1990: 66-67), yaitu teknik simak libat cakap, teknik rekam, teknik catat, mengumpulkan keterangan-keterangan lain yang tidak tercatat dalam panduan wawancara yang diperkirakan dapat melengkapi bahan, seperti mitos, legenda, dan cerita rakyat, serta menelusuri data tambahan seperti pemetaan dan perkamusan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan 61 Oronim di Kawasan tersebut dan 16 diantaranya dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini, Bahasa Jawa dialek Tengger merupakan Bahasa yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Tengger yang digunakan untuk sehari-hari, penelusuran melalui peta diakronik wilayah Jawa Timur menghasilkan perubahan penulisan yang merupakan hal yang paling ditekankan dalam penelitian Toponimi, dan masyarakat Tengger memaknai nama gunung berdasarkan bentuk gunung yang menyerupai suatu benda, berdasarkan apa yang diceritakan oleh leluhur mereka, dan berdasarkan hal-hal yang berkaitan dengan spiritual mereka.Kata Kunci: etimologi, toponimi, oronim, semantik AbstractThis study aims to investigate what mountain oronyms are and how the formation of mountainous oronyms in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area. The research method used in this research is the method of Sudaryanto (2015: 201-203) and Lauder (1990: 66-67), namely the skillful listening technique, recording technique, note taking technique, collecting other information that is not recorded in the guide. Interviews are thought to complement material, such as myths, legends, and folk tales, as well as explore additional data such as mapping and reading. The results showed that there were 61 Oronyms in the area and 16 of them were explained in this study, Javanese Tengger dialect is the language used by the Tengger community that is used for everyday life, searching through the diachronic map of the East Java region results in a change in writing which is something that is most emphasized in Toponymy research, and the Tenggerese interpret the name of a mountain based on the shape of a mountain that resembles an object, based on what their ancestors told them, and based on matters related to their spirituality.Keywords: etymology, toponymy, oronym, semantics

They are usually represented as having charm that allures men.</p><p>This study explores a Javanese well known legend of Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan Using feminist theory as a framework, this study addresses the female opression in a patriarchal society through the portrayal of the heroine Dewi Nawang Wulan, a celestial nymph with supranatural power, who is trapped and deprived of her power by Jaka Tarub. The narrative of Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan represents women as the involuntary victims of socializing mechanisms, and the ‘otherness’ of woman in a male-oriented culture. The story challenges the commonly held notion that happiness for women is dependent on men’s protection. In many fairy tale, marriage is the ultimate goal that will end the female heroine’s misery like in cinderella. However in Jaka Tarub and Nawang Wulan the marriage is just the beginning of an oppression and suffering.The male protector only brings distress and suffering. This research includes qualitative research with descriptive method of analysis. Data collection techniques are test techniques. Data analysis technique used in research that is percentage and analytic descriptive. The technique of data validity uses triangulation. The results are divided into three forms, namely: 1) the form of writing error of legend as much as 12 cases or 9.5%; 2) form of misstatement as much as 80 cases or 67,5%; 3) the form of writing error handling as many as 28 cases or 23%.

Abstract. The relation between Islam and Javanese tradition is seen at a case of a pilgrimage and ritual of Labuhan at a beach of Parangkusuma, Yogyakarta. This ritual is well-known, and even became a tourism agenda, so is tha pilgrimage. The legend of a myth character like Kanjeng Ratu Kidul was engaged firmly with the kings and citizens of Mataram, specially Yogyakarta palace. In the ritual of Labuhan and pilgrimage (usually holds on Tuesday and Kliwon of Friday) in Parangkusuma showed two interested phenomenons about Islam and Kejawen interaction. There was an opinion that Islam and Kejawen interaction is a parallelism. This article used a descriptive method to explain that phenomenon. The conclusion is, the relation occurred in the practice of ritual of Labuhan and pilgrimage is a parallelism, what brought a certain understanding about Javanese, spesifically in relation with religion.Abstrak. Hubungan Islam dan Kejawen terlihat pada kasus perziarahan dan upacara labuhan di pantai Parangkusuma, Yogyakarta. Upacara labuhan cukup dikenal banyak orang bahkan menjadi agenda wisata untuk menarik wisatawan, demikian pula perziarahan. Legenda tentang tokoh mitos Kanjeng Ratu Kidul sangat erat hubungannya dengan para raja dan rakyat Mataram, khususnya keraton Yogyakarta. Dalam upacara labuhan dan perziarahan (yang biasanya dilakukan pada setiap malam Selasa dan Jumat Kliwon) di Parangkusuma memperlihatkan fenomena yang menenarik untuk melihat interaksi yang terjadi antara Islam dan Kejawen. Ada pendapat yang mengatakan bahwa interaksi yang terjadi antara Islam dan Jawa pada perhelatan tersebut adalah sebuah parallelisme. Artikel ini menggunakan metode deskriptif pada fenomena yang ada di Parangkusuma Kesimpulannya adalah, interaksi yang terjadi merupakan sebuah parallelisme, yang membawa pemahaman tertentu tentang Jawa, khususnya dalam hubungan dengan agama.

The purpose of this study to enhance the activity and achievement in the Javanese language for the reading material of legend using cooperative learning methods Numbered Heads Together (NHT). This study used a two-cycle classroom action research. Subjects in this study were 32 students of class VIII E SMPN 8 Surakarta in the 2015/2016 school year, consisiting of 18 girls and 14 boys. The research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle has four phases: planning, implementation, observation and reflection. In the first cycle the researcher used NHT without media and in Cycle II, NHT was used with instructional media. Results of the study showed increased percentage of the motivation to learn the Javanese language to read the Legend. Description of the achievement included: listening and attention to the teacher's explanations was 34.38%; encouragement to ask and express opinions was 31.25%; and the ecouragement to present results of group discussions in class was 59.38%.l

Nyi Roro Kidul, Nyai Loro Kidul, or Nyai Ratu Kidul is a character of folk legend which has existed all along south coast of Java land: from East Java, to Middle Java and Jogjakarta, then to West Java and Banten. People along the south coast of Java island believe to myth of this legendary character as a beautiful and supernatural woman who has authority of devil realm in Indonesian Ocean (Indian Ocen) or Segoro Kidul (South Sea). The popularity of Nyi Roro Kidul has also become motivation for national film-making and TV media to produce many films and drama about this character. Although there are many similarities about the revelation, among regions, legend and mass culture (film, TV); the representations of Nyi Roro Kidul show differences in theme emphasis. In East Javanese people, Nyi Roro Kidul is emphasized on the intention of people seeking wealth pesugihan (with the helping from devils) by sacrificing human soul for antidote. In Middle Javanese people, Kanjeng Ratu Kidul is representated as the take turn-wife of Sultans from Mataram, Sultan Panembahan Senopati to Sultans of Jogjakarta in the present time. The west Javanese people represents this figure as the princess of Pakuan Pajajaran Kingdom who is betrayed and abused, and throw away herself to jump into South Sea, then she incarnates as a beautiful and undefeated supernatural queen. On film and television, Nyi Roro Kidul is presented as a beautiful, sexy, cruel and sexual adventurer woman.

The large number students of elementary or islamic elementary school who think that Javanese language material is material that is difficult to understand because of its diverse forms is the background for this research. This research aims to improve the ability and skills to write the Javanese Legenda script for class III students at MI Darul Huda 02 Karanggondang using the Javanese script Flashcard learning media. The research method that researchers use is descriptive quantitative research method. The research subjects were 27 class III students at MI Darul Huda 02 Karanggondnag. The research instruments used by researchers included 2 tests, namely Pre-Test and Post-Test and analyzed student score data using SPSS 20.0. The research results prove that there is a significant increase in value when conducting research. When the Pre-Test obtained an average score of 69.62, there were 16 students whose scores were above the KKM (Minimum Completeness Criteria), namely 70. Meanwhile, in the Post-Test, they obtained an average score of 91.29. According to the research results, it can be concluded that the Javanese script writing skills for Class III Islamic Elementary Scool Darul Huda 02 Karanggondang have increased by an average score of 21.67 from meeting 1 to meeting 4. It can be concluded that the use of Javanese script Flashcard learning media is very effective in improving the Javanese script writing skills of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah students or other equivalent education.

This design aims to make games not only for entertainment but also as a means of education, especially for the younger generation. Therefore, this design focuses on game design by incorporating historical elements such as Javanese script. Javanese script lessons have been taught to us since we were in elementary school, but unfortunately it is almost forgotten. In this modern era, information technology is not only used in the educational aspect, but also as entertainment in cyberspace. Many people like games which have several positive benefits and impacts, such as memory skills, practicing problem-solving skills, relieving stress, and increasing happiness. As in the process of designing the game "Return of the Aji Saka" is an approach tool for learning about culture, especially Javanese script. The inclusion of Javanese script into the design of this game can cause players to absorb cultural elements in it. In designing this game an initiative was taken to make all the characters in it like in the folklore "Legend of Javanese Script" so that it can make this game easier to understand as an educational game. This design method uses a sequential approach, in which a progress is seen as water flowing through the phases of planning, gathering the necessary requirements, identifying, conceptualizing, and designing. The results of this design can be in the form of promotional media such as artbooks, exhibition booths, online advertising as top line media (Above the line) and posters, X-banners, stickers, T-shirts, mugs, pins, key chains as lower line media (Below the line). The game design is expected to increase the younger generation's sense of concern for cultural preservation, especially Javanese script. In addition, it is hoped that it can become an alternative for teenagers to learn Javanese Script culture in the digital era like today.

Learning legend is learning that provides knowledge to students about an event that is considered really happened in ancient times. Legend stories contain good exemplary values ​​such as religious, social, and cultural values ​​that can serve as examples to better shape student personalities. Therefore, important legend learning is taught to students at school, but the learning of the legend at SMP 2 Dawe Kudus is of less interest to the students. The problem is because of the teaching and learning activities during this run in conventional and not varied and less use of LCD facilities that have been installed in each class. In addition, the learning of the legend in SMP 2 Dawe Kudus using the material Legend Bulusan from LKS in the form of text that is less contextual. Therefore, innovation is required to develop a more creative learning media such as flash media in the form of animated films in order to increase student interest in learning. The approach used in this research was Research and Development (R&D) which conducted with five stages, including potential and problem analysis, data collection, product design, design validation, and product testing. The subjects of this research were teachers of Javanese subject, students of grade VIII SMP 2 Dawe Kudus, interpreters of legend story, material expert, media expert, and media user. Data collection used in this research is questionnaires, interview guides, tests, and observation. The data was analyzed in qualitative-descriptive. The results showed students the experimental class that performed higher learning outcomes than the control class.

The folklore of the Salatiga legend needs to be disseminated in the archipelago so that these cultural values ??can be understood by people from various ethnic groups in Indonesia using Indonesian. In the process of translating the legend (from Javanese Krama into Indonesian) it is necessary to have an appropriate translation method so that the message to be conveyed in the source language (BS) matches the target language (BT). This research aims to investigate the translation method used in the Salatiga Legend and explore the cultural ideology that affects the translator in translating the Salatiga Legend. In this research, only the translation of the word or phrase which is related to the translation is examined. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with content analysis method. Data processing techniques using literature study, see, and note. To test the validity of the data in the study used triangulation models, namely data triangulation, theory triangulation, and expert triangulation. The results of the research are the dominant translation methods used are equality and borrowing, while the transposition method is not found. The finding, translation methods used by translators in the Salatiga Legend story, especially those relating to the translation units of words and phrases of objects, are dominated by the equality method. In this study also no transposition method was found.

In the Mandhasiya ceremony there are also four universal cultures, namely the religious system and religious ceremonies of the Pancot people who believe in the existence of the sanctity and truth of the legend in the presence of watu gilang; social organization system, which is a kingdom in the presence of kings and people; tangible arts performing reyog.In the Mandhasiya ritual, one of the components is offering rice cone, rice cone, fruit, flowers, air and incense. This has the meaning of being a citizen of Pancot and the surrounding area expressing gratitude, and pleading for Krincing Wesi to remain safe.For Javanese who are familiar with the science of kejawen, reading the Mandhasiya sentence is no longer, because in the kejawen tradition the contents of the meaning of the sentence contain a prediction, which explains the character of a person with the time of Mandasia or Mondosiyo.

The existence of Javanese novels in Javanese literature learning has a standard thickness of novels (more than 100 pages) with various themes. Not all novels that have been published can be used as study material in literature learning. Literary works that can be used as teaching material with the theme of Semarang history. There are various values ​​of life that can be learned, such as religion and tolerance, openness, and discipline, and hard work. There are two main objectives of the research, namely (1) the characteristics of the needs of teachers and students and (2) the draft novelet in Javanese with the theme of Semarang history. This development research was carried out with a research and development (R&D) design developed by Borg and Gall (2003) and modified into two stages, namely (1) preliminary studies and (2) draft development. The characteristics of the needs of teachers and students are seen from the four aspects of book feasibility, namely material, language, presentation, and graphics. The novelet draft consists of the beginning, the content, and the end. The initial section consists of the title page, the publication page, the table of contents page, and the foreword page. The contents of the novelet draft consisted of four short novels with historical themes in the city of Semarang, such as Ki Ageng Pandanaran, Admiral Cheng Ho, the legend of Gua Kreo, and the Five Days Battle in Semarang. This article discusses historical construction of Baron Sakendher manuscripts in the collection of Yogayakarta Sonobudoyo Museum. Serat Baron Sakendher (SBS) was written in the main frame of Babad Tanah Jawi. Various stories frame SBS distinctively based on each manuscript. This study proposes to explain the position of SBS in the Javanese authority domain under the Colonial—which was increasingly entrenched. The study used historical philological research methods, namely by selecting manuscripts and tracing their historical backgrounds to discuss the contents. The results point out that there are six manuscripts containing SBS stories. Four are included in the big frame of Babad Tanah Jawi, one is in Babad Selahardi, and one is in Pakem Ringgit. None of the six was written as a single stand; they were always integrated with the monumental Javanese genealogical story and believed by the Javanese people. As a means of cultural arrangement, stories in SBS are incorporated in the midst of Javanese legendary figures or rulers with different secondary stories. Conquest and cultural approach through genealogy pedigree are crucial in babad (chronicle stories). --- Artikel ini membahas konstruksi historis naskah-naskah Baron Sakendher koleksi Museum Sonobudoyo Yogyakarta. Naskah SBS ditulis dalam bingkai utama yakni naskah Babad Tanah Jawi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan posisi naskah SBS dalam lingkaran kekuasaan Jawa di bawah bayang-bayang Kolonial yang semakin kuat mengakar. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, penelitian dilakukan dengan metode penelitian filologi historis, yaitu pemilihan naskah, kemudian penelusuran latar belakang sejarah naskah untuk membahas isi teks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat enam naskah yang memuat cerita SBS. Empat naskah masuk dalam bingkai besar Babad Tanah Jawi satu naskah Babad Selahardi dan satu naskah masuk dalam bingkai Pakem Ringgit. Kelima naskah tidak ada yang ditulis berdiri tunggal tetapi, selalu menyatu dengan cerita genealogi Jawa yang monumental dan dipercaya kebenarannya oleh masyarakat Jawa. Sebagai sarana penataan kultural, cerita SBS dimasukan dalam lingkaran tokoh legenda penguasa Jawa dengan cerita penyerta yang berbeda-beda. Penaklukan dan pendekatan kultural melalui silsilah genealogi menjadi penting dalam cerita babad.

Lampahan Juměněngipun Nata Dewi Kancana Wungu (LJNDKW) is a fragment of the legend of Damarwulan. It presents Kancana Wungu, a royal female figure who is represented in a more superordinate position than most of female characters in stories revolving around Javanese court life. The primary objectives of this study are: firstly, to explore the reason why this form of narrative becomes paradoxical and secondly, to find the meaning of it within its historical context. In order to achieve a more profound understanding of the narrative, a review of the positioning of women will be based on theories proposed by Sylvia Walby. By applying philological methods in collecting and providing readable narrative, this study then finds its interpretation of the narrative that “superordinate” position of the seemingly empowered queen is a form of segregation.

Exploitation of language in commercial sector is inexorable. Language does not only work to articulate meaning but also to send and build image. In this sense, language has been commodified. This fact becomes more obvious in tourism industry in which language plays vital role to construct brand as well as to reach targeted profit. Based on these premises, this research aims to unravel the phenomenon of language commodification in Baturraden Tourism areas within the framework of Linguistic Landscape. The descriptive qualitative research was conducted through observation, documentation and interview. Data in the forms of photographs were gathered to be analyzed and interpreted to capture the language commodification manifested in the selected areas. The analysis shows that language commodification is materialized through the use of Indonesian, English and Javanese. English serves a dominant language in this tourism industry. Most tourist destinations prefer using English to Indonesian as national language to label their place. The issue of branding therefore becomes obvious to elevate the market and effectively attract the visitors. English, rather than functions as referential meaning, serves economic functions. Here, English is more powerful than other given languages. English offers higher prestige, modernity and promising brand to be beneficial for this industry. Then, Javanese is maintained to introduce the history or local legend as well as to bring the sense of authenticity.

Narrative is understood as the record of human activities which relate strongly to a cultural matrix. Narrative, in terms of story or story telling, is representative of factual and fictional achievement placed in a chronological or causal order. Therefore, narrative and narratology have an important function in understanding cultural activities. Some structuralist scholars, especialy those living during 1960-1980, created a special theory on narratology. There are four specialists of narratology; they are: Vladimir Propp, Claude Levi-Strauss, Tvsetan Todorov, and A. J. Greimas. They claimed the same perspective, that all narrative (such as folktale, myth, and legend) in fact share the same fundamental structure (i.e grammar, syntactical structure, semantics axes, actantial structure, or logical structure). Panji Story is one of Indonesian heritage stories popular during the rule of Madjapahit Kingdom. The narratives were transmitted into folktales, oral literature, written literature, hikayat, or engraved as the reliefs at ancient temples. The narrative which was originated from Singasari Kingdom was so pervasive in East Javanese culture, as it created a Panji Culture (Nurcahyo, 2016). The spread of the narratives was so extensive, reaching Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sumatra, Borneo, Papua, and to neighbouring countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. This paper aims at revealing narrative sequences of Panji Narratives in line with Todorovs narrative theory, especially in relation to his narratology theory of equilibrium. Abstrak Penelitian pengembangan materi ajar ini bertujuan untuk: (a) mengetahui kebutuhan siswa dan guru mengenai buku cerita rakyat di Jepara sebagai pengayaan materi ajar legenda kelas VIII SMP, (b) mengembangkan prototipe buku cerita rakyat di Jepara sebagai pengayaan materi ajar legenda kelas VIII SMP, dan (c) mengetahui hasil validasi oleh ahli dan perbaikan prototipe buku cerita rakyat di Jepara sebagai pengayaan materi ajar legenda kelas VIII SMP. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan pendekatan research and development (R&D) yang dilakukan dengan lima langkah, yaitu (1) potensi dan masalah, (2) mengumpulkan informasi, (3) penyusunan desain produk, (4) validasi desain/uji ahli, dan (5) perbaikan desain produk. Setelah penelitian dilaksanakan, diperoleh hasil penelitian sebagai berikut: (1) buku pengayaan cerita rakyat di Jepara yang disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan siswa dan guru dengan menggunakan bahasa Jawa ragam ngoko alus yang isinya disajikan secara rinci, jelas, runtut, dan komunikatif dengan disertai gambar ilustrasi, dan (2) penilaian yang diberikan ahli materi dan ahli media terdiri dari tiga aspek, yaitu pewarnaan font pada judul sampul depan buku, penggunaan tanda baca yang kurang tepat dan perbaikan pada aspek grafika. Perbaikan pada sampul buku yaitu warna pada judul buku yang terdapat di bagian sampul depan buku dibuat menggunakan warna yang lebih cerah. Perbaikan pada aspek kebahasaan yaitu penggunaan tanda baca yang kurang tepat. Perbaikan pada aspek grafika yaitu gambar awan pada background di setiap halaman direduksi, karena penggambaran awan kurang menunjukkan gambar awan, hanya berupa garis-garis awan lincar putih. Kata kunci: Materi ajar, buku pengayaan, cerita rakyat Abstract The material of this development research aims to: (a) determine the needs of students and teachers regarding folklore books in Jepara as enrichment of teaching materials for grade VIII SMP, (b) develop prototypes of folklore books in Jepara as enrichment of VIII grade junior high school teaching material, and (c) know the results of validation by experts and repairing prototypes of folklore books in Jepara as enrichment of teaching materials for grade VIII SMP. The research design uses the research and development (R & D) approach which is carried out in five steps, namely (1) potential and problems, (2) gathering information, (3) product design preparation, (4) design validation / expert testing, and (5) product design improvements. After the research was conducted, the results of the study were as follows: (1) folklore enrichment books in Jepara tailored to the needs of students and teachers using the Javanese language variety of ngoko alus whose contents were presented in detail, clear, coherent, and communicative with illustrations, and (2) the assessment given by material experts and media experts consists of three aspects, namely font coloring in the book's front cover title, inappropriate use of punctuation and improvements to aspects of graphics. Repair to the book cover, namely the color of the book title found on the front cover of the book, are made using brighter colors. Repair in linguistic aspects, namely the use of punctuation that is not consistent. Improvements in the aspect of graphics, namely cloud images in the background on each page is reduced, because the deciption of cloud shows less of a cloud image, only in the form of white clouds of light. In 2018, Mobile Legends launched animation of a hero Kadita which was inspired by the legend of Nyi Roro Kidul. Kadita’s design was adapted to popular culture, with a traditional Indonesian (Javanese-Balinese) aesthetic. In Kadita’s introduction animation, there were visual elements inspired by Indonesian culture with traditional background music. This study aimed to examine whether the visual elements of Indonesian culture were displayed correctly, alongside with the response of millennial and z generations toward the animation. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach through interviews with experts on Indonesian traditional culture and through focus group discussions with millennials and z generations to find out their responses toward traditional Indonesian culture displayed in popular media. Primary data collection was carried out through a literature review on traditional culture and popular media. The conclusion of this research, the animation of “Kadita the Ocean Goddess” succeeded in adapting traditional Indonesian elements in popular media. The results of the FGD showed that the target audience responded positively to the traditional culture displayed in popular media. This research can be used as a basis for thinking and designing strategies in an effort to introduce Indonesian traditional culture to the younger generation using popular media.

<p>Jogja Fashion Week Carnival (JFWC) is held in order to promote the development of costume creative industry in Indonesia, especially in Yogyakarta. Woven and <em>batik </em>(Javanese traditional fabric) as products of Indonesia is reproduced into art costumes. It may add the value of both the product and the price of the product itself as the core of the continuity of the creative industry economy in Indonesia. The eastern value of the costume design worn during the carnival may reflect the traditional value of society. The concept of the costume making is rooted from Indonesia folklores, legends and myths that are still being developed in present society. Throughout the event, exploration done by the artists is seen as a genuine attempt to support the Government in promoting costume industry both in national and international scale. Costumes worn in JFWC were analysed using aesthetic theory by adopting the point of view of DeWitt Henry Parker. The point of view comprises three main aesthetic principles, i.e.: an intact unity, thematic principle, as well as balance principle. Those three concepts can be used to find out the basic locality value of a costume that later can be used as the art education’s source of material. Finally, it is concluded that the theme of JFWC costume creation concept is sourced from the rich tradition of Indonesian society. </p>

Sebagai rangsang awal dalam karya ini adalah ide dari legenda Ajisaka tentang menciptakanhuruf Jawa Hanacaraka. Ketidakpastian dalam satu keputusan memunculkan keputusan baru adalah gambaran tatanan kehidupan dewasa ini oleh karena bahasa serta sikap dalam mengambil tindakan yang tumpang tindih. Dalam komposisi ini Hanacaraka yang terdiri dari 20 kata diaktualisasikan ke dalam beberapa instrumen musik dan sumber bunyi dengan karakter yang berbeda. Komposisi ini memadukan instrumen gong, bonang, pralon, othokothok, klonthongan sapi, serta pengolahan huruf Jawa Hanacaraka. Komposisi ini memperhatikan tiga elemen musik yakni ritme, melodi, dan harmoni dengan pola permainan sukat yang berbeda. Penyajian komposisi sebagai sebuah pertunjukan dapat dinikmati secara audio maupun visual. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan penggarapan baik penyajian musikal maupun non musikal. Dengan mengacu pada pertunjukan teater maka diperlukan stage, agar terjadi komunikasi antara penonton dengan pemain dalam satu arah pandang mata.Kata kunci: tumpang tindih, hanacarakaABSTRACTThe Tumpang Tindih: A Music Composition. Observing the current reality of twisted, overlap, and unstructured life becomes the theme of this composition. Music composition entitled “Overlapping” represents the part of the writer’srefl ective experience on his childhood when he must memorize Javanese letters of Hanacaraka. The diffi culty in learningand memorizing the Javanese letters becomes the basic idea of the birth of his composition. The Legend of Ajisaka aboutcreating the Javanese letters of Hanacaraka becomes the stimulus of an early idea in this composition. The uncertainty inone decision which emerges another new decision is a description of life arrangement nowadays because of the overlapping of the language and attitude. In this composition, Hanacaraka with 20 letters is actualized into some musical instruments and sound with different characters. This composition combines the gong instrument, bonang, “pralon”- hard pipe, othokothok – a traditional children’s toy, “klontongan sapi”- the bell horn by the ox, and also the Javanese letters of Hanacaraka arrangement. All the sound mentioned above; then is composed into three music elements, namely the existence of rhythm, melody, and harmony with different “sukat”- measure such as 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 7/4. This composition is presented as a performance, which can be appreciated through audio and visual. Therefore, a good musical and non- musical arrangement is necessarily used. Referring to the theatre performance, hence a stage is needed in order to be a direct communication media for the audience and players.Keywords: overlapping, hanacaraka

Painted glass can be protected bycoating on the back of glass surface.In the year of 70’s, many of Javanese traditional house are decorated by painted glass,but it decrease gradually. Recently, the painted glass is less because glass is fragile material,damaged with age, or sold to the art shop. Many people considered the old painted glass isoutdated, however today, painted glass becomes artwork media for modern artist. It is meansthat painted glass not a pheriperal artwork. At first glance that traditional painted glassappears made by ordinary people. It seem as a naïve form, wrong composition, andcontrasting color collide. View of mountain, wet rice field, house, and human being arecomposed as one scene pile, it is wrong in perspective law. Sebenarnya gambar kaca memiliki kedudukanyang penting dalam sejarah perkembangan seni rupa Indonesia. Pembuatan gambar kacadilakukan secara terbalik, yaitu dari belakang, inilah uniknya. Bidang gambar sebelah kananakan menjadi sebelah kiri, begitu juga sebaliknya. Warna pertama yang ditorehkan akanmenjadi warna paling depan, karena berada dibelakang kaca kualitas warna cat terlindungi,sehingga tetap cemerlang dalam waktu yang lama. Gambar kaca juga memiliki kelemahan,setelah 50-60 tahun cat akan mengelupas, hal ini dapat diatasi dengan memberi lapisanpelindung dari belakang.Era 70-an gambar kaca ini masih banyak menghiasi rumah tradisional Jawa, tetapisekarang jarang sekali dijumpai. Hal ini dapat dimengerti karena bahan kaca mudah pecah dankondisinya sudah banyak yang rusak dimakan usia, atau dijual ke art shop karena alasanekonomi, dan gambar kaca tempo dulu dianggap sudah ketinggalan zaman. Anggapan ini tidaksepenuhnya benar, era sekarang ini karya seni dengan berbagai media dapat digunakansebagai sarana berekspresi. Media kaca dapat dimanfaatkan oleh perupa modern menjadikarya seni visual, artinya sudah saatnya seni gambar kaca tidak dianggap sebagai karyapinggiran. Sekilas tampak bahwa gambar kaca tradisional dibuat oleh mereka yang tidakmengetahui seni. Bentuknya naif, olahan warnanya kontras sering bertabrakan, dan terutamakomposisinya salah. Pemandangan gunung, sawah, bangunan dan manusia disusun secarabertumpuk dalam satu skena, hal ini jika dilihat dari ilmu perspektif akan disalahkan olehmereka yang belajar disiplin ilmu seni, benarkah demikian?Gambar kaca, seperti halnya wayang beber, relief dinding candi, gambar anak, lukisantradisional Bali dibuat dengan susunan bertumpuk seperti itu. Mengapa mereka melakukan halitu? Hal ini jika dinilai dari ilmu perspektif Barat, memang salah. Tetapi demikianlah tradisimenggambar di Indonesia. March 2020 marks the coming of bad news to this country. COVID-19 pandemic began to strike and its domino impacts have affected almost all aspects of life, including academic and scientific writing on journal. In the midst of the spirit of working and researching from home, the International Review of Humanities Studies Journal is back to publish for July 2020 edition. The issues discussed are increasingly diverse, marked by the diverse expertises of the respective authors. Domestic contributions can be seen from the articles of the researchers from Universitas Indonesia, particularly from the Faculty of Humanities and the School of Strategic and Global Studies which are interconnected with the scholars from the Indonesian Police College and Al Azhar University.Since this journal is intended to be available internationally, it is also necessary to pay attention to the contributions of foreign authors. Researchers from the University of Uyo, the University of Ilorin, the University of Benin, the University of Lagos, and Delta State University provide interesting views on the issues of humanities in Nigeria. Five articles from various universities in Nigeria are interconnected with independent researchers from the People's Republic of China, who without links to universities or colleges have sent their own independent research articles.This edition begins with Darmoko's writing that discusses the moral complexities of Javanese in the Asmara Djibrat Ludira novel. Darmoko's research emphasises the spiritual role of knight figures who defended their territory and romance. The second article is from Letmiros who also discusses Java. Letmiros saw a mosque in Jogjakarta, namely the Jogokariyan Mosque, as an agent of change as well as a legend. Letmiros argued that by having activities – whether it is spiritual, economic, cultural, or politics – that are conducted in the mosque, mosque can be ordained as an agent of change and branded as legendary, especially in the city of Jogjakarta.The third article is a research carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fera Belinda saw how a new normality, in a tourist village in the Badung-Bali area, is interconnected with local wisdom and health protocols. Fera Belinda's study shows that health science on pandemic like COVID-19 can be analysed together using the humanities approach. Then in the fourth article, we are invited to take a walk to explore Nigerian drama. Inegbe and Rebecca see that a theatre, titled Cemetary Road, has a significant impact on Nigerian society; to the extent that it can be considered a radical impact. Inegbe and Rebecca's research provides new treasure of knowledge, especially for readers in the regions outside Nigeria.In the fifth article, we are invited to see how online studies, especially the use of video technology, are utilised by teachers. Silalahi and Halimi see how the use of two methods, namely the use of video teaching and the use of textual textbook teaching, are compared between the experimental class and the control class. In conclusion, they find that video-based teaching provides better results in the learning process. Okpevra's research discusses pre-colonial aspects in the Delta State, Nigeria. This research concludes that intergroup relations in the region are influenced by factors of origin, equality of geographical conditions, and similarity of cultural practices. The eighth article invites us to get acquainted with humanities research that is associated with psychological studies of the police. Mayastinasari and Suseno discussed how strengthening the current role of the police influences the public satisfaction, especially in North Sumatra where this research took place.The ninth article is an issue that has been discussed lately. Nwosu discusses the issue of homosexuality in the Catholic group in Nigeria which is interconnected with its society. Although the discussed issues are quite sensitive, the scientific explanation could vividly answers the questions regarding these issues. Next, the tenth article from Akpan and Edem discusses how a film, in this case Frozen, is examined from the perspective of digital technology and digital costumes which is a new contribution in analysing a child-friendly content. The eleventh article of Ademakinwa and Smith discusses a film adapted from a well-known Nigerian novelist in the United States, Chimamanda Adichie. Ademakinwa and Smith's findings state that collective memory, reconstructed through film, can have a more significant impact than that of novels. It can even create a crisis within society if not properly controlled.The twelfth article from Filia and Nurfitri invites us to explore the expression of confessions of love in Japanese. Data on love expressions from these researchers were collected via video interviews. It is interesting to find that the expression of love turns out to depend on the cultural context associated with togetherness and sustainability. The next article, the thirteenth, is a contribution of an independent Chinese researcher named Zhang Guanan. He analysed Chinese folklore, Pi Ying, with wayang kulit – leather puppet – stories. It is interesting to follow how Guanan managed to find the uniqueness of both in his research.The fourteenth article by Sugiharto and Puspitasari discusses the online stalking activities of urban millennial. It is their second research which found that cyber stalking is a natural thing for millennial generation living in urban areas, including following colleagues, friends, spouses, even ex-spouses and friends who have not been associated for a long time. The fifteenth paper from Guanah Akbanu and Obi discusses the practice of online journalism in Nigeria, using artificial intelligence. The case study they chose was how journalists in Edo, Nigeria, perceived the use of AI in their journalistic methods. It was found that the use of AI turned out to be more positive for journalism in the area.The sixteenth article by Sonya Suganda discusses how a commemorative object, stolperschwelle, is useful as an object for narrative of the death. The object that was initially used to commemorate Nazi victims has developed to be the object to commemorate those who are marginalized, including homosexuals, gypsies, and those who are exiled because of political differences. The next contribution, the seventeenth, comes from Zaqiatul, Al Azhar University who discusses how the functioning of suffixes and verbs is interconnected in the realm of Arabic conjugation. The eighteenth article by Hutapea discusses a quite sensitive issue, namely the conflict between the native people of Jogja and the Papuans living in Jogjakarta. This conflict was examined from the perspective of the police, especially how they controlled it. The nineteenth article from Arif Budiman discusses the strategy used by the French interpreter in the film Marlina Murder in Four Acts. The last article by Basuni discusses the problem of the Arabic-Indonesian translation, in the context of the increasingly contextual scripture.Hopefully, this current edition along with the entire articles can enlighten the readers and contribute significantly to the knowledge of humanities studies.
