Abstract (sommario):
After the Second World War, the militarist, corporatist system of the imperial Japan had collapsed. Since then, Japan adopted a democratic system centered around the Liberal Democratic Party. This paper analyzed the political situation of Japan after the Second World War by exemplifying and investigating Japans political Stagnation. By analyzing the political situation of Japan, this research reveals the significance of political reformation and progression. This study selected and analyzed 15 different sources including books, articles and videos Economically, post-war Japan had a heavy reliance on the United States since the Korean War. Although the bubble economy of Japan through the 1970s provided the Japanese population with political confidence to an extent, The collapse of the bubble economy stopped Japans economic growth. Since then, Japan had entered the lost thirty years. In addition to the reasons aforementioned, political bureaucratization, lack of actual changes and powerful implicit order caused changing the status quo harder. These are the main factors working behind Japans political stagnation.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACTThere has been little consensus on Japans welfare regime since Esping-Andersens [1990. The Three Worlds of Welfare Capitalism. Cambridge: Polity Press] unclear categorisation of Japan as his only non-Western welfare state. This article is the first attempt to analyse academic research published in both English and Japanese. It presents a review of 40 collected studies (including 15 Western, 6 Asian and 19 Japanese articles), reached a wide variety of conclusions, defining Japan as eight different types: We point out that while the majority of Western studies tend to run statistical models including Japan among otherwise Western welfare states with little theoretical justification, Japanese scholars tend to focus on Japan as a single case. The two very different approaches may have something to learn from each other, as in thesis antithesis synthesis. Now that we are aware of very different approaches to and conclusions about Japans welfare regime, the topic appears ripe for greater co-operation between scholars.

Abstract (sommario):
Japanese colonial migration in China is a significant component of Japans colonial movements in China between 1931 to 1945. Previous research shows that it may influence the post-war commercial cooperation between two countries This research is intended to explore the long-term effect of Japans colonial migration on Sino-Japan trade in different Chinese regions, thus partially filling the academic vacuum in related fields and possibly providing new ideas for macro strategies design. Methods of data analysis and graphing are implemented in the analysis process. The findings are Japans colonial migration mainly promotes Sino-Japan trade and the effect of promotion is positively correlated with migration scale. Export markets and regions less open to the world market are influenced by this effect most. However, in general, the influence of migration is limited because the major factors of trade are cost, profit and demand. In some regions, the violence of the migration leads to historic hatred, negatively impacting Sino-Japan trade.

Abstract (sommario):
After World War II, the bilateral relations between Japan and America has undergone ups and downs. In the early post-war period, the relationship between these two countries was very tense and unfriendly due to the hostile relation. However, after the policies of Japan and America changed when America started occupying and managing Japan, their relationship improved. Japan ushered in an economic miracle of 50 years after the war, one of the most essential reasons for it is the support of America. Also, the growth of the economy has brought Japan more opportunities to cooperate and negotiate with America, and the relationship between the two countries has shifted from unilateral support to competition through cooperation. This paper is mainly focusing on the Impact of Japan's Economy on Japan-US Bilateral Relations. In order to find out the process and changes of the Japan-US Bilateral Relations, this paper analyzed some references about this topic and found out that the economy has deeply influenced the relations between these two countries and Japan's economic miracle and stagnation made America restart locating the diplomatic relationship with Japan. This paper could help scholars have a better understanding of the influences of Japans economy on US-Japan Bilateral Relations.

Abstract (sommario):
The article analyses Japanese approach towards peacekeeping and issues associated with Japans participation in the peacekeeping operations (PKOs). It focuses on factors which influence shaping and transformation of Japans approach towards this sphere of UN activity. For the first time, Japan sent its Self-defense forces to participate in the PKO in the early 1990s and since then peacemaking has become one of the symbols of Japan's contribution to international security. Despite the significance of cooperation with the UN that the Japanese government has underlined, the indicators that characterize Japan's participation in peacekeeping remain at a low level. In the article, the author explores the causes of this phenomenon and identifies patterns that characterize the models of Japanese participation in PKO. Using the historical method and content analysis of official documents and speeches by Japans representatives the author explores the hypothesis that currently, from the point of view of the Japanese government, the issue of participation in the PKOs is important as a way to adapt the public to the expansion of the sphere of activity of the Self-defense forces, but in practice, the ruling circles seek to avoid the risks associated with the participation of the Japanese military in the PKOs, preferring to shift the focus on peace-building, financial, educational and technological contribution that Japan can make to UN operations. The concept of active pacifism promoted by Abe did not lead to a more extensive participation of the Japanese military in the PKOs. An analysis of current trends in peacekeeping suggests that the participation of Self-defense forces in PKOs will remain at a low level and will be offset by other opportunities for Japan to contribute to international peacekeeping.

Abstract (sommario):
In today's era of globalisation, East Asian popular culture has increasingly become an international craze that has garnered soft power disclosure for China, Japan, and Korea. Among them, Japan was the earliest to wield cultural soft power to gain significant benefits, namely through its anime industry, setting the example for China and Korea. Not only did Japan accumulate huge economic benefits through anime, but the soft power it gained through culture dissemination critically allowed Japan to reshape its national image in the western world and even across Asia,, where Japanese wartime aggression had remained an unsolved political issue over decades. This paper hopes to study the emergence, development and reception of Japanese anime and its impact on Japans international soft power disclosure, serving as a model for the current development of other East Asian popular cultures.

Abstract (sommario):
Japan faced racist issues and it impacts the society. Which is crucial since society play an important role in a country. Therefore are there any efforts coming from the government of Japan and NGOs to solve this problem? Knowing the efforts made by both governments and NGOs to combat racism could help increase accountability, transparency, and public trust in these organizations and the initiatives they undertake. The primary data in this study were obtained from the results of interviews conducted by the authors of the informants, while the secondary data was in the form of documents and journals that were relevant and could support the research. The government does provide facilities such as consulting services for foreigners to report racist acts they experienced. The government and NGOs initiate a campaign in the form of a billboard. It is considered not effective and has little impact. On the other hand, the Japanese government has begun to socialize by giving some advice to companies in Japan to provide a Japanese language learning medium to train foreign workers. Based on the results of the research, most of our informants stated that the efforts made by the Japanese government and NGOs aren’t enough. The Japanese government and NGOs should consider bigger efforts to eliminate racism in their society.

Abstract (sommario):

Abstract (sommario):
This study examines fishery trade flows between Japan and Turkey, in order to identify existing trade patterns and look for potential business opportunities. In 2011, the total fish trade from Japan to Turkey was at its highest value ever, approximately USD 49.6 million; this number represents impressive growth, given that the value in 2000 was just over USD 12 million. Turkey and Japan are each surrounded by water, and both possess rich inland water resources; both countries also have high catching and production capacities. By correctly using these resources and placing even more importance on marketing activities abroad, the exports of both countries can surely rise. According to the information captured during our interviews, pacific salmon, skipjack tuna, sardine, and yellowfin tuna sales may indirectly contribute to the creation of new jobs, by expanding Japans trade with Turkey; participants also said that trout, sea bass, sea bream, and mussel sales could expand Turkeys trade with Japan.

Abstract (sommario):
ABSTRACTIn 1549 Francisco de Xavier, a Catholic missionary, went to Japan, and from then on missionaries continued to arrive there throughout the 16th century. Notably Luís Fróis, who arrived from Portugal in 1563, lived in Japan for more than 30 years, and wrote “Historia de Japam” and other works comparing the cultures of Japan and Europe, considered invaluable historical materials for understanding the Japanese culture of that period: for example, pronunciation, music and theatre. In addition, European religious music was taken to Japan by missionaries. They founded theological schools called Seminarios or Correggios where Japanese boys were taught vocal and instrumental music. Later, a commission of four boys was dispatched to Rome, and they came back with some musical instruments and typographic machines. This paper focuses on the description by the missionaries of Japanese music and plays of that time in this intercultural setting, which enabled them to become acquainted with those concrete images.

Abstract (sommario):
Japan is the most developed economy in Asia. However, it has been on record for being the most heavily indebted country among OECD countries. In many circumstances, the high sovereign debt level indicates a high possibility of sovereign credit risks associated with investment in government bond. The high sovereign credit risk may also generate a number of negative externalities for private businesses operating in the host country. This paper investigates whether sovereign credit risk of Japan as measured by its sovereign credit default swap (SCDS) can better predict and commove with sovereign credit risk of selected ASEAN countries. The bivariate VAR model was used to test for Granger Causalities among these countries SCDS premiums and correlation analysis to investigate co-movements between SCDS of these countries. The results indicate that Japan’s sovereign credit risks do not co-move with those of ASEAN countries, Furthermore, Sovereign credit risks of ASEAN countries tend to lead those of Japan as evidenced by unidirectional causalities from these countries to Japan. The overall suggestion is that sovereign credit risk of Japan is not likely to influence those of ASEAN. The paper concludes with some implications for businesses.

Abstract (sommario):
Most global pharmaceutical companies, no matter where they are headquartered, are struggling to effectively integrate their Japanese operations into a new global structure. In the past, companies would have worked on development plans for the whole world ‘except Japan’. But those days are quickly evaporating and companies need to set out in a new direction. Japan is taking part in the trend for globalising clinical trials. Companies are working hard to leverage global operations and are quickly taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the Japanese government. Two typical approaches have emerged to address this emerging tide of globalisation. The first of these can be called, ‘mirror image myopia’ and the second, ‘Japan-centred syndrome’. Both of these approaches are attractive at first glance. However, the practicalities of the current environment demand that companies not try for a quick-hit, generic approach but rather a customised approach that matches their global strategy. Some practical ideas are presented to help avoid common pitfalls in globalisation relative to your Japan operations. In the end, by taking a balanced, strategic approach, companies can make the most of their global operations in Japan – whether these be Japan-based or globally based organisations.

Abstract (sommario):
The purpose of this paper is to analyze decentralized education reform in Japan in terms of School/Site-Based Management (SBM). In the literature, SBM embraces two major elements, namely, the devolution of decision-making authority to the individual school level and Shared Decision-Making (SDM). In Japan, school advisors and school management councils have been established with similar purposes with SBM since 2000. However, because the decision-making authority is not sufficiently devolved to each school and many groups of stakeholders are not significantly involved in decision-making processes, a SBM form of school governance has not been realized in Japan.
