Abstract (sommario):
Art historians have generally drawn sharp distinctions be-tween conceptual art and art-and-technology. This essay reexamines the interrelationship of these tendencies as they developed in the 1960s, focus-ing on the art criticism of Jack Burnham and the artists in-cluded in the Software exhibition that he curated. The historiciza-tion of these practices as distinct artistic categories is examined. By interpreting conceptual art and art-and-technology as reflections and constituents of broad cultural transformations during the information age, the author concludes that the two tenden-cies share important similarities, and that this common ground offers useful insights into late-20th-century art.

Abstract (sommario):
Poetic dwelling comes from an article by Friedrich Holderlin, and it is well known by interpretation of Heidegger. It has been discussed from a variety of angles for a long time. It is an ideal state for human existence. This idea pursues purity and briefness, people’s harmony with nature. However, the development of information technology makes this ideal become distant to some extent. How to realize the poetic dwelling in information age is worth considering. In this paper, contradictions and reunifications between information technology and poetic dwelling have been discussed. After discussing the meaning of poetic dwelling, this paper analyzes the influence on poetic dwelling brought by information technology and puts forward views on how to realize poetic dwelling in the age of information technology.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractFrom Karl Marx to Martin Heidegger, the dialectical relationship between technology and art has become an ontological question of social reality. Marshall McLuhan’s theory of cool-hot media provides an analytical framework for the information age. “Cool-hot media” is McLuhan’s truly original concept. However, while McLuhan determined electronic media to embrace printing media which was regarded as a typical representative of hot media, he could not foresee that electronic media is properly speaking the latest representative of the split type of hot media. Through Gödel’s Incompleteness Theorems which underlies formalization and Embodied Cognition Theory, this article argues that there exists an ontological difference between computers and human existence and explores the position of art from the contemporary cool media perspective. This contribution is not only intended to be a philosophical critique of the philosophy of technology of the media age, but also a repositioning of contemporary art and its function from the media perspective. The technological division and abstraction represented in hot media becomes the basic premise for a holistic approach to computer science and artificial intelligence. Their rich information context leads to multiple interpretations of meaning instead of a one-dimensional definition; the everyday actions of cold media have become a type of life art in a broad sense, and manifest their social function as an art of the information age, i.e. to balance the cognitive narrative of hot media and to ensure that its communication does not suppress the audience’s individual creativity, so that they can maintain their subjectivity by tracing the source of information. Art facilitates active audience participation and so allows participants to overcome a one dimensional way of thinking and promotes imagination and creativity in liberal arts education. Following the rules of art, cold media obtains its greatest significance as the guardian of the free subjectivity of all humans, which is alien to modern technology. Cold media and hot media balance each other to create a new way of producing and living that not only discovers but also safeguards the world.

Abstract (sommario):
This document summarizes the outcome of an Expert Meeting held jointly between the Science and Engineering Research Council and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, which brought together a multi-disciplinary group of experts from the information technology (IT) and product design communities. The meeting was held to review the state of the art of IT in design, to identify the technology gaps and development problems, to inform each community of the views and developments being undertaken by the other and to help identify the way forward in the British R&D effort to stimulate innovative product design. One of the important outcomes of the meeting was the identification of priorities for research and development in the application of IT in the design process which will be necessary if the United Kingdom is to remain competitive in design for manufacturing industry. The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of industrialists and academics drawn from the United Kingdom and overseas. In terms of priorities, the findings of the meeting were: 1. There should be a co-ordinated programme to determine the way in which designers carry out design when supported by computer-based tools. 2. There should be support for further research through demonstrator projects which help to provide the scientific understanding required in the construction of the next generation of design tools. 3. Forward-looking projects should be defined with, say, a ten year time horizon to develop prototypes of the design tools of the future.

Abstract (sommario):
In this study, the author puts forward the hypothesis that the representation of information of artistic type in art classes affects the formation of judgement of taste as one of the most important factors for intensifying and memorising the experience of artistic content. The function of art education is to enable an individual to „read“ the work of art, to supply him with skills and knowledge necessary to recognise formally significant determinants in art. Creation of new conceptual design, functional usage of visual information in communication process, individuality in shaping their own criteria, are just some of the determinants of artistic development. Art education accorded with development of technology and visual communication is necessary for human development of young individuals and improvement of their general level of culture. Conceptually – concrete art can uncritically be understood as direct and „comprehensible“. The observer with basic artistic education has no difficulties in expressing judgement about realistic work of art, because all mental functions, by analogy, occur with the experience. Art formed in the area of symbolic self-expression, areal structure, requires special knowledge and skills to overcome sensed and decorative levels when experiencing a work of art. The classes of art education should teach the students the methods of judging the artistic quality, to significantly influence their ability of critical analysis, interpretation and formation of judgement of taste

Abstract (sommario):
Libraries cannot any longer align themselves with their institutions’ priorities because public institutions in Canada are undergoing a fundamental restructuring, the outcome of which is unclear. Federal and provincial governments are transferring responsibilities to the municipal level, putting cultural funding in direct competition with schools, hospitals, social and emergency services. Multi-culturalism will alter the mandate, collections, programming and staffing of cultural institutions. Art librarians, lacking the ability to communicate with decision-makers, need a strategy to allow them to embrace new values and technology or they will be swept aside in the rapid change already evidenced daily which marginalizes the library and calls into question time-honoured traditions such as free access to information.

Art, architecture, and design curriculum in higher education has evolved in many ways over the past decade. While many universities and colleges still ascribe to the Bauhaus model as a core approach to instruction, shifts in technology, modes of making, global perspectives, and the professional landscape have required responsiveness on the part of these institutions. Today’s art, architecture, and design learners need to be equipped to navigate, evaluate, and ethically use vast quantities and varieties of information in their practices. As a result of these evolutions and the influence of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education, library pedagogy for these disciplines has accordingly shifted away from traditional bibliographic instruction and towards information literacy-based approaches.

Abstract (sommario):
New media art is different from ready-made art, installation art, body art, and land art. New media art is a new art subject category with “optical” media and electronic media as the basic language. And, because of the continuous development of computer networks, distributed database management systems are becoming more and more popular. This article aims to study the information security control problem in the distributed new media system. Through comprehensive access control, reliable support, and many-to-many random mutual encryption, it solves the security requirements of supporting mobile computing in a distributed network environment, communication, and hierarchical grouping. Group key management and other issues have studied some key security technologies for building secure distributed information systems. This article proposes covering the behavior-based access control model ABAC (operation-based access control model), the architecture of the new Trusted Platform Module, the architecture of multithreaded crypto chips, and their service methods, as well as distributed information systems and key management solutions. Approximately obeying the chi-square distribution with 2 degrees of freedom, when the significance level is taken as 5%, the chi-square value for the skin is 5.99. Different initial values are selected for the chaotic sequence, 200 groups of chaotic sequences with a length of 2000 are selected for sequence inspection, and the pass rate is 97.5%. It can be seen that the autocorrelation and cross-correlation characteristics of the improved spatiotemporal chaotic sequence are still relatively ideal, so the usability of the platform is relatively high.

Abstract (sommario):
Abstract The algorithmic turn in photography raises the question of whether an algorithmically generated image is even a photograph at all. This paradox is abundant on India's urban streets, where the pedestrian or road user is met with giant photo saturated flex hoardings printed with political and community messages and photo-shopped portraits of gods, chief ministers and party workers. In this article, attention to photo-based political posters alongside art practices sharing common elements of digital capture and postproduction contextualizes a reading of technologically produced visual landscapes in the South Indian city of Bangalore. Informed by Vilèm Flusser, the techno-materiality of hoardings are interpreted as visual practices whose reliance on Microsoft and Adobe softwares reveal more than the semiotic information that is ostensibly transmitted; in so doing the extent to which photography is a useful entry point for assessing the visuality in which we're currently living and how this gets locally inflected in the case of India is explored.

Abstract (sommario):
Modern teaching has undergone academic reform through information technology. Given the specificity of art design, this field requires the use of multimedia resources and the popularization of teaching courseware. However, the development of teaching courseware remain problematic. The academic research results in this field are still rooted on theories and lack practical significance. This study adopts the perspective of visual communication design technology and combines it with computer-assisted instruction technology to discuss art courseware design making. The teaching courseware is designed with art design history as an example. The experimental tests reveal the effectiveness of the method. Unlike those in a traditional classroom, the learning effects of the proposed method are greatly optimized and promoted. Hence, this method has high application value.

Abstract (sommario):
AbstractThere are conflicting studies associating twin pregnancies derived from assisted reproductive technology (ART) with preterm birth, low birthweight, and other negative outcomes. This work investigates whether ART is linked with any placental pathology, given that placentation significantly influences fetal development. A 5-year, retrospective cohort study was conducted on placentas from twin pregnancies. The placental information from 417 patients was divided into two groups: placentas derived from ART and placentas derived from spontaneous pregnancies (non-ART). Available clinical information and pathologic findings from both groups then were compared. There was no statistical difference in the prevalence of placental pathology between the non-ART and ART cohorts (i.e., cord insertion, single umbilical artery, cord knot, retroplacental hemorrhage, infarction, vasculopathy, vascular anastomoses, chorangiosis, villitis, deciduitis, chorioamnionitis, meconium staining). However, 8% of ART multiple pregnancies were monochorionic. While monochorionicity is a known risk factor for adverse obstetric and neonatal outcomes, the rate of monochorionic placentation did not increase as a result of ART. Nevertheless, it is interesting to note that this small percentage of monochorionic placentation occurred in the ART cohort despite the implantation of individual embryos. Overall, the data suggests that ART does not have a role in the pathologic placentation of twin pregnancies.

Abstract (sommario):
The advent of the digital age has given new forms and new connotations to artistic creation, and more and more digital media technologies have entered the stage of artistic creation and exhibitions. At present, holographic projection technology has become a hot application technology in the field of digital media art. The purpose of this paper is to explore the technical principles of holographic projection technology and its application in the field of digital media art, so as to provide suggestions for the application and promotion of holographic projection technology and the development and innovation of digital media art. First of all, this article understands the technical principles of holographic projection and its application status in various fields, especially in the field of digital media art, through relevant literature research. Then, this article introduces the digital holographic technology, virtual imaging technology, and computer simulation technology used in the realization of holographic projection technology. Then, based on the advantages of holographic projection technology in three-dimensional image recording and reproduction, this paper proposes to introduce holographic projection technology to digital art museums, digital art exhibitions, and other digital media art applications and to study the effect of holographic projection technology on art through simulation experiments, the effect of recording and reproducing the image of the work. Finally, the three-dimensional reconstruction image of the digital holographic projection experiment on the artwork is compared with the simulated image of the Contour GT profiler to verify the feasibility of applying the holographic projection technology to art exhibitions and the effect of three-dimensional image recording and reproduction. Research shows that the holographic projection technology can achieve 93.34% of the simulation effect of recording and reproducing 3D images of artworks. It is also found that 59.86% of the audience who pay attention to the art experience strongly support the application of holographic projection technology in digital media art fields such as digital art gallery. This fully proves the feasibility of applying holographic projection technology to digital art exhibitions and provides a full range of artistic experience for audiences who cannot be present.

Abstract (sommario):
Enterprise search is changing. The explosion of information within organizations, technological advances and availability of free OpenSource machine learning libraries offer many possibilities. Eighteen informants from practice, academia, search technology vendors and large organizations (Oil and Gas, Governments, Pharmaceuticals, Aerospace and Retail) were interviewed to assess challenges and future directions. The findings confirmed the existence of the ‘Google Habitus’, technology propaganda and a need to transcend disciplines for a Systems thinking approach toward enterprise search. This encompasses information management, user search literacy, governance, learning feedback loops as well as technology. A novel four-level model for enterprise search use cases is presented, covering search as a utility, search as an answer machine, search task apps and a discovery engine. This could be used to reframe enterprise search perceptions, expanding possibilities and improving business outcomes.
