Abstract (sommario):

The pressure infiltration process of porous preforms by molten metals was investigated numerically in this paper. The finite element model of heat and mass transfer of the infiltration in liquid infiltration extrusion process was founded by the introduction of a new continuum model of fluid in porous medium and a distribution resistance concept. The proposed model can describe the transient flow behavior of semisolid materials qualitatively. Numerical simulations were developed in particular for non-isothermal infiltrations which take into account the thermal aspects (the mould, the fibres and the metal are initially preheated at different temperatures). The temperature distribution, infiltration front and infiltration depth in the infiltration area were gained by the simulation of ANSYS／FLOTRAN code. It is shown that the fiber volume fraction and initial temperature have a strong effect on the infiltration process. The simulation results of axisymmetric infiltration have a good agreement with their experimental ones. In addition, the infiltration time was predicted to get the effective infiltration depth based on the simulation results.

The following paper deals with the production of Interpenetrating Phase Composites (IPC) using semi-solid forming technology. Therefore, adequate ceramic foams were selected and infiltrated by processing the aluminium alloy A356 in the semi-solid state. In the studies presented in this paper, the infiltrations of two ceramic materials (Al2O3 and SiC) with three different pore sizes (10, 20 and 30 ppi) were investigated. During the forming process the liquid phase fraction of the aluminium was varied to analyze infiltration effects in relation to the raw material´s liquid phase fraction. Afterwards, microsections of the produced specimens were analyzed in order to characterize their microstructure and the quality of infiltration. The results showed that completely filled composite components with good mechanical properties can be produced by infiltrating ceramic preforms with a semi-solid aluminium alloy.

Abstract (sommario):

Air infiltration into the combustion chambers of industrial furnaces is an unwanted phenomenon causing loss of thermal efficiency, fuel consumption increase, and the subsequent increase in operating costs. In this study, a novel design for a rotary tilting furnace door with improved construction features is proposed and tested experimentally in a laboratory-scale furnace, aimed at air infiltration rate reduction by decreasing the gap width between the static furnace door and the rotating body. Temperatures in the combustion chamber and oxygen content in the dry flue gas were measured to document changes in the combustion process with the varying gap width. Volumetric flow values of infiltrating air calculated based on measured data agree well with results of numerical simulations performed in ANSYS and with the reference calculation procedure used in relevant literature. An achievable air infiltration reduction of up to 50% translates into fuel savings of around 1.79 to 12% of total natural gas consumption of the laboratory-scale furnace. The average natural gas consumption increase of around 1.6% due to air infiltration into industrial-scale furnaces can thus likewise be halved, representing fuel savings of almost 0.3 m3 per ton of charge.

In the study of unsaturated soil slope stability under rainfall infiltration, it is worth continuing to explore how much rainfall infiltrates into the slope in a rain process, and the amount of rainfall infiltrating into slope is the important factor influencing the stability. Therefore, rainfall infiltration capacity is an important issue of unsaturated seepage analysis for slope. On the basis of previous studies, rainfall infiltration law of unsaturated soil slope is analyzed. Considering the characteristics of slope and rainfall, the key factors affecting rainfall infiltration of slope, including hydraulic properties, water storage capacityθs−θr, soil types, rainfall intensities, and antecedent and subsequent infiltration rates on unsaturated soil slope, are discussed by using theory analysis and numerical simulation technology. Based on critical factors changing, this paper presents three calculation models of rainfall infiltrability for unsaturated slope, including (1) infiltration model considering rainfall intensity; (2) effective rainfall model considering antecedent rainfall; (3) infiltration model considering comprehensive factors. Based on the technology of system response, the relationship of rainfall and infiltration is described, and the prototype of regression model of rainfall infiltration is given, in order to determine the amount of rain penetration during a rain process.

The research of cooling processes of a building, when heating system is operating in discontinuous mode, is carried out. Factors affecting temperature decrease rate are analyzed. Influence of cold air infiltration on heat exchange processes is shown. Methods of aerodynamic calculations of natural ventilation are specified. Method of pressure determination in-building, taking into account infiltrative air hydraulic loss, is proposed. Cooling process with air infiltration is calculated. Infiltration increases clinograde by 0.4-1°C per hour. Existing materials of heat transfer resistance through fiberglass windows constructions are compiled. Practical proposals for reducing of air infiltration and heat loss through openings are made.

Threshold pressure is a very important parameter for melt alloy successfully infiltrating into the porous preform. However, the precise measurement for threshold pressure is very difficult for the reason that infiltration process is undertaken very fast under extreme elevated temperature and high pressure without effective measuring devices to monitor it. A totally new measuring device was proposed and fabricated, which can be used to monitor the infiltration process “visually” and measure the threshold pressure directly at the same time. The infiltration speed can be controlled by adjusting the gas flow speed. The infiltration behavior of melt AZ91D alloy in Al2O3sf preform was researched at temperature of 800°C and pressure of 0.6 MPa. The optimized gas velocity was controlled at 25L/min. The degree of vacuum of the infiltration cavity was set 30kPa in experiments. The volume fraction of Al2O3sf was 10%. Under these conditions, the threshold pressure of melt AZ91D alloy into porous Al2O3sf preform was found to be related with vacuum degree in infiltration chamber, and it was about 30 kPa

As the primary ecological construction measure on the Loess Plateau, check dams play an essential role in developing agricultural production, improving people’s production and life, and replenishing groundwater. Soil water infiltration is the most important way to replenish groundwater in the dam land. In order to investigate the water infiltration process of check dams, an empirical model suitable for the simulation of the dam land infiltration process was selected. The soil water infiltration process of the check dam was studied by a field test and a model simulation. The results showed that there were few macropores in the dam, and the water mainly moved downwards in the form of matrix flow. Moreover, the stable infiltration rate of the dam site was low, and its infiltration process could be divided into three stages: rapid infiltration, fluctuating infiltration, and stable infiltration. In addition, the infiltration rate of a non-silted dense layer was 2.4~5 times that of a silted dense layer. The Horton model had a good fitting effect on the water infiltration process of the check dam and thus was suitable for the simulation and prediction of the water infiltration process of the dam. The results can provide a theoretical basis for efficient soil water utilization and infiltration simulation of check dam land.

Reactive infiltration is a manufacturing process of metal matrix composites with low cost and low environmental impacts. In this study, reactive infiltration of a NiO/Ti blended powder preform with molten Al was examined. Titanium powder as an infiltration aid was mixed with NiO powder by various blending ratios. The preform and the Al ingot were then heated together up to 1273K ~1673K and held at these processing temperatures for 60 minutes by an induction furnace in N2 gas atmosphere. After the heating process, the vertical cross section was observed to see whether the infiltration and the in situ reaction occurred successfully. Spontaneous infiltration of molten aluminum into the powder preform did not occur when either processing temperature or blending ratio of titanium was not sufficiently high enough. Spontaneous infiltration occurred when processing temperature and volume fraction of titanium were 1273K, 1373K and 15%, 20%. But when volume fraction of titanium was 25%, the preform exploded by an extremely high. It was confirmed that Al3Ti, Al3Ni2 and Al2O3 were formed after the infiltration.

The loading of the grinding wheel and adhesion of the workpiece material to the cutting edges of the grinding tool are among the main reasons which limit the process efficiency when grinding ductile materials. The micro topography of the grinding tool changes drastically as a result of loading. Higher grinding forces and temperatures, poorer surface quality and process accuracy are the consequences of the adhesion of the workpiece material to the grinding tool surface. A novel and promising technique to reduce the possibility of loading and adhesion in the grinding process is the infiltrating of the grinding tool. This study describes the results of infiltration of vitrified bonded conventional grinding wheels with graphite in the surface grinding process. The effects of infiltration have been studied for the first time on various grinding wheels with different grain materials, grit sizes, porosity and hardness. Two different types of steel which are very popular in the automobile industry, 100Cr6 and 16MnCr5, were chosen as the workpiece material by the surface grinding experiments. The selected cutting parameters cover a wide range of the practical surface grinding processes which are utilized generally in the industry. It has been experimentally shown that the type of infiltration plays an important role in reducing the loading of the wheel. Better surface quality and longer dressing intervals are the main results of the infiltration of the grinding tools.

According to the similarity of the infiltration continuous equation and the thermal conductivity differential equations, the infiltration model of molten salt to fiber porous ceramic is designed by using Fluent software. The results can reflect the actual process of melting infiltration. Furthermore, the influences of different infiltration ways on infiltration process, with the same volume but different radius pillar, are simulated. It is found that infiltration time can be shortened for pillar fibers porous ceramics with same volume. When increasing the radius, horizontal infiltration is superior to vertical infiltration for pillar fibers porous ceramics when <1 and vice versa.

Abstract (sommario):

Understanding the infiltration and solidification processes of liquid 5083Al alloy into Al2O3 three-dimensional reticulated porous ceramic (Al2O3(3D) RPC) is essential for optimizing the microstructure and properties of Al2O3(3D)/5083Al interpenetrating phase composites (IPCs) prepared by low-pressure infiltration process (LPIP). This study employs ProCAST software to simulate the infiltration and solidification processes of liquid 5083Al with pouring velocities (PV) of 0.4 m/s infiltrating into Al2O3(3D) RPC preforms with varying porosities at different pouring temperatures (PT) to prepare Al2O3(3D)/5083Al IPCs using LPIP. The results demonstrate that pore diameter of Al2O3(3D) RPC preforms and PT of liquid 5083Al significantly influence the of the infiltration. Solidification process analysis reveals that the Al2O3(3D) RPC preform with smaller pore diameters allows the lower pouring velocity of 5083Al to solidify faster compared to the preform with larger pore diameters. Al2O3(3D)/5083Al IPCs were prepared successfully from Al2O3(3D) RPC porosity of 15 PPI with liquid 5083Al at PV 0.4 m/s and PT 800 °C using LPIP, resulting in nearly fully dense composites, where both Al2O3(3D) RPCs and 5083Al interpenetrate throughout the microstructure. The infiltration and solidification defects were reduced under air pressure of 0.3 MPa (corresponding to PV of 0.4 m/s) during LPIP. Finite volume method simulations are in good agreement with experimental data, validating the suitability of the simplified model for Al2O3(3D) RPCs in the infiltration simulation.

Abstract (sommario):

313 Background: The reported aggregated PET/CT 18F-FDG radiotracer injection infiltration rate from 3 centers in 6 studies is 15.2% (425 infiltrations/2804 patients). Infiltrations can negatively affect cancer patient staging, therapy assessment, treatment planning, and can lead to unnecessary invasive procedures and patient radiation exposure. The radiotracer dose is essential to PET image quality and quantification. Efforts are made to ensure the exact dose administered is used to create the patient image; but, no measures ensure the administered dose completely enters the patient circulation. Our objective was to use new technology (Lara, Lucerno Dynamics) to assess our infiltration rate, determine potential causes, reduce our rate, and assess results sustainability. Methods: Our IRB determined the project did not meet the definition of research as defined by 45 CFR 46.102(d) and classified the initiative as “quality improvement”. In Phase 1, our PET/CT center monitored the injection process. Lara data were analyzed (SAS Enterprise Miner, v. 14.1 and v.9.4) and identified potential contributing factors. We then implemented a quality improvement plan to address these factors. In Phase 2 we remeasured our infiltration rate. After Phase 2, we assessed our rate over an extended period. Results: Lara added 30 seconds to patient imaging. In Phase 1, 263 injections were monitored, and 35 infiltrations were identified (13.3%). Five technologists’ rates ranged from 8%-19%. Patients less than 145lbs with non-antecubital fossa injection sites were highly associated with infiltrations. In Phase 2, 278 injections were monitored, and 8 infiltrations were identified (2.9%), a 78% decrease (p < 0.0001). The same technologists’ rates ranged from 0%-4%. Eight technologists performed the next 504 injections and six were infiltrated (1.2%). Conclusions: Our findings supported published PET/CT infiltration rates. Using new technology provided technologists with feedback on injections and lead to significant and sustainable improvements quickly, with minimal patient/procedure disruption. Infiltrations are a quality and safety issue. As a result, the injection process requires ongoing monitoring.

For the needs of this paper, certain area of issues associated with the infiltration process and neural networks were selected. In the scope of infiltration process, the measurements and analysis of air infiltration through the buildings have shown how difficult this process is in terms of strict mathematical models formulation. In the scope of neural networks, attention was given to multi‐layer perceptrons and systems composed of them. It must be noted that, due to the novelty of this method, a detailed description of the neuron network theory was presented in this paper as well as a thorough discussion of the neuron modelling process. The work was carried out in two stages, with the first stage covering the development of detailed methodology for the construction of neural model and the second stage in which a developed methodology was applied to modelling real objects.

In order to track the penetration distance of the metal melt infiltrate into the Al-B4C composite matrix when the infiltration is not obvious, element Si was added into the metal melt as the tracer agent. The changes of droplet bottom size, height, and contact angle during the spreading and penetration with Al-B4C composite substrate surface are investigated by infiltration experiment equipment. The process of the droplet infiltrating into the Al-B4C composite can be divided into two stages: (a) a slow infiltration stage that the contact angle changes slowly; (b) a quick infiltration stage with the rapidly-changed contact angle. The content of B4C and the pores in the composite plays an important role on the infiltration of the droplet. The higher the density, the easier the infiltration proceeds.

Abstract Ponding time is the period from the beginning of rainfall/infiltration until the occurrence of ponding. This paper aims to determine the infiltration rate and ponding time on different land uses, such as open fields, residential, agriculture, and vegetation. This research was conducted in one of the watersheds in the Brantas River Basin, namely the Lesti River Basin, which is administratively included in the Malang Regency, East Java. The Lesti River is one of the tributaries of the Brantas River, which originates around Mount Semeru, a very intensive area for planting rice, sugar cane, and coffee. Infiltration data were collected at 35 points using a double-ring infiltrometer spread across the Lesti watershed with Andosol, Mediterranean, and Regosol soil types. At the same time, ponding time was obtained from infiltration measurements in the field using the flooding method. The physical properties of the soils were tested in the laboratory to obtain water content, porosity, and bulk density values. This study resulted in the infiltration rate and ponding time for each land use and shows how the physical properties of the soil affect the ponding time.

Oxidation resistance of ceramic matrix composites (CMC) of SiC reinforced with C fibers (C/SiC) can be improved by filling the residual porosity. The aim of this work was to design and analyze a dipping infiltration process under ambient conditions (1 atm pressure and room temperature) with silica sol-gel solutions prepared from tetraethyl orthosilicate. Different substrates and solutions have been studied. Thermal treatments, i.e., curing or sintering between infiltrations, increase the efficiency of the process since the densification of infiltrated silica opens up the remaining porosity. Increasing viscosity and/or concentration of the solution lead to greater weight gains. Weight gains are higher in the initial stages of the process because larger diameter porosity remains unfilled. As the process advances, the average pore size decreases, and only the lower viscosity solution can enter the residual porosity.

The infiltration behavior of compacts of SiC particles in two surface conditions, as-received and thermally oxidized, was investigated by using pure Al and Al-12wt%Si as infiltrating metals. Analysis of the threshold pressure for infiltration revealed that the process is governed by the same contact angle for all different systems, no matter the metal or particle condition. This leads to the conclusion that oxidation does not modify the wetting characteristics of the particles, most probably because they are already covered by a thin native oxide layer that remains unaltered in processing routes involving short contact times and low temperatures, such as actual conditions of pressure infiltration at 700 °C.

A two-layer structure composite based on B4C/Al-B4C/TiB2was prepared using hot pressing and infiltration aluminum in vacuum. The results showed that the B4C porous layer in the two-layer preform looked like a three-dimensional network of interconnected capillaries which could promote the infiltration of liquid aluminum. In the B4C/TiB2layer the TiB2dispersed homogenously in B4C matrix. After infiltrating process the two-layer B4C/Al-B4C/TiB2composite with good interfacial bonding was obtained.

Residue cover is widely used for soil conservation after crop harvesting in the black soil region of the Northeastern China, which influences infiltration. It is necessary to optimize infiltration models for accurate predictions under bare and residue cover slope conditions. Rainfall simulation experiments were conducted to quantify the infiltration for the black soil under four rainfall intensities (30, 60, 90, and 120 mm/h), five residue coverage controls (15%, 35%, 55%, 75%, and bare slope), and two soil moisture (8% and approximately 30%) conditions. The observed data were used to fit and compare four infiltration models by Kostiakov, Mein and Larson (short for GAML, a modification of GreenAmpt model made by Mein and Larson), Horton, and Philip under the bare slope conditions. The residue cover infiltration factor (RCFi) was derived to predict the infiltration under the residue cover slopes, which was defined as the ratio of infiltration from residue-covered soil to that from bare soil. The results showed that the newly derived equation coupling the Philip model with the RCFi was the most accurate way of predicting the cumulative infiltration of black soil under various residue covers, and could be applied to the black soil region for residue cover infiltration predictions.

Fine sediment infiltration and subsequent clogging in a gravel bed affect several fluvial, ecological, and biological processes, resulting in the degradation of the river ecosystem. Despite many experimental and a few numerical studies, the process is yet to be entirely understood. We employed a pure Lagrangian framework, called the Discrete Element Method (DEM), to numerically investigate the infiltration process. Special attention is given to tackling the issue of non-spherical and irregular particle shapes and particle size distributions (PSDs) in numerical simulations. Due to computational limitations, these aspects were either not considered or simplified in previous numerical studies. We implicitly included non-spherical and irregular shape effects through rolling resistance models, which do not cause excessive computational overhead. Our study shows that rolling resistance models greatly influence packing and fine sediment infiltration. However, they may also lead to unphysical particle behavior; thus, they should be carefully used in numerical simulations. Oversimplified PSDs do not mirror natural systems, and full PSDs pose computational challenges. Sufficient grain classes are needed to mimic the non-homogeneity and poly-dispersity found in natural fluvial sediments. The infiltrating characteristics of sand concerning PSD and shape effects are linked to size ratio D15,Gravel/D85,Sand, assuring physical and realistic modeling of the infiltration process.

The effects of temperature on liquid infiltration of molten copper in W skeleton pores are investigated by numerical simulation. The unsteady state infiltration processes of molten copper in the same W skeleton pores are studied at the temperature of 1373K, 1473K and 1593K, respectively. The mobility of molten copper is affected by the temperature, which then lead to the different transport process. The infiltration velocity of molten copper in W solid is affected by viscosity, surface tension and contact angle of liquid copper, which indicates that higher temperature can accelerate the rate of the seepage. The velocity distribution drops down along the infiltration and displays parabolic trend along the position.

Using of numerical models of particle flow are based on discrete element theory, combining with the indoor infiltration clogging tests in the region of south mountain in Tibet, the whole development process of the infiltration clogging of loose foundation is simulated. The loss volume, fluid velocity，osmotic coefficient, porosity and moving track of particle samples are recorded and traced in the analytical model, which reveals the water-soil interaction throughout the whole process of the infiltration clogging. The results show that clogging often occurs in the upper soil. Particle trajectory is random reveals the certain randomness of formation of pores. Results of simulation are consistent with the indoor test, to some extent, which validate the feasibility of numerical method in infiltration clogging research. These results provide certain useful data for the further study of infiltration clogging, and also provide a new way for interpretation and analysis of penetration clogging phenomenon in micro-scale .

Metal matrix syntactic foams (MMSF) are foam composites obtained by filling hollow and/or porous particles into a metal matrix. MMSF are promising materials in defense, aerospace, automotive, marine and engineering applications. Mechanical and physical properties of MMSF can be tailored to reach better structural and/or functional behaviors by fitting processing and tailoring parameters. Some of these parameters are: reinforcement size, volume fraction, distribution of reinforcements and chemical composition. Three techniques are available to manufacture MMSF: Stir casting/vortex method (SC), powder metallurgy (P/M) and infiltration routes. Infiltration process is by far the main employed for making MMSF, it allows a large range of reinforcement (30 vol % to 78 vol %) and offers great advantages compared to other techniques. This paper reviews infiltration routes used to date, their advantages and drawbacks, the main processing parameters of each route, and a relation of representative studies developed to date on the synthesizing of MMSF by molten infiltration processes.

This paper try to discuss the technical method of improving the wettability of the composite material from the angle of the production process by increasing the infiltration area, gradually exhaust, increasing the total amount of the base material, pressure infiltration velocity difference and improve the shortcomings in the material production process review. This paper validates the methods useful and practical. It can get a better production effect of infiltration by increasing infiltration area, step by step exhaust, increasing the total matrix materials, speed difference infiltration, pressure type wait for infiltration. The rapid infiltration production technology not only improves the performance of composite materials, but also has important significance to improve the interfacial properties of the composites.

A theoretical model of infiltration kinetics based on the Darcy's law which was evaluated by W − Lambert function has been established for Cu-Ni-Mn alloy (grade MNMts 60-20-20) during melt infiltration into Cr3C2 porous skeletons with different morphology. It is shown, that theoretical calculations are in good correlation with experimental data obtained by pressureless infiltration of carbide preforms with open porosity 20-40 vol. % at 1200 °C. Calculations shows that infiltration height dependence on the average size of carbide particles is described by curves with a maximum which corresponds to~ 60 μm for specified system with carbide skeleton porosity of 40 vol. %.

A major limitation of existing operational systems when applied to forecasting or synthesizing streamflow from snowmelt on watersheds in many pans of central and northern Canada is that they are incapable of accurately simulating the process of infiltration into frozen soils. The results and discussion in the paper provide a method of overcoming the problem in areas of climatic and physiographic conditions similar to those of the Prairies.Details outlining the development of a model describing snowmelt infiltration into frozen soils are presented. The model is based on the concept that for practical purposes the infiltration potential of frozen soils may be generally categorized as (1) restricted: impervious; (2) unlimited: capable of infiltrating the snow-cover water equivalent; and (3) limited: infiltration is governed by the snow-cover water equivalent and the ice content of the soil at the time of melt. An empirical relationship for calculating infiltration into frozen soils of "limited" potential is given. The improvement in performance of the United States National Weather Service river forecasting system—Sacramento model (NWSRFS) in synthesizing streamflow from snowmelt on a small watershed in western Saskatchewan gained through the use of the infiltration model is demonstrated. Different procedures of interfacing an infiltration model with an operational system, the NWSRFS, are presented, discussed, and evaluated.

The SiC3D/Al composite with high SiC content were prepared by vacuum– pressure infiltration process, and the prediction model of infiltration pressure threshold involving capillary pressure and viscous resistance was established. The effects of model parameters on the critical infiltration pressure were analyzed. The results show that the main factors are the permeability coefficient of SiC performs and the temperature of molten aluminum alloy. Temperature affects the melt viscosity and the wetting angle between SiC and molten alloy. The ingiltration pressure threshold of the specific infiltration system had been calculated by this model, which is in agreement with experimental results.

Rainfall-runoff transformation on urban catchments involves physical processes governing runoff production in urban areas (e.g., interception, evaporation, depression, infiltration). Some previous 1D/2D coupled models do not include these processes. Adequate representation of rainfall–runoff–infiltration within a dual drainage model is still needed for practical applications. In this paper we propose a new modelling setup which includes the rainfall–runoff–infiltration process on overland flow and its interaction with a sewer network. We first investigated the performance of an outflow hydrograph generator in a 2D model domain. The effect of infiltration losses on the overland flow was evaluated through an infiltration algorithm added in a so-called Surf-2D model. Then, the surface flow from a surcharge sewer was also investigated by coupling the Surf-2D model with the SWMM 5.1 (Storm Water Management Model). An evaluation of two approaches for representing urban floods was carried out based on two 1D/2D model interactions. Two test cases were implemented to validate the model. In general, similar results in terms of peak discharge, water depths and infiltration losses against other 1D/2D models were observed. The results from two 1D/2D model interactions show significant differences in terms of flood extent, maximum flood depths and inundation volume.

The SiCp performing sample was made first then Al/SiCp (65%) was manufactured. Appropriate component and proportion of binder and process parameters were selected to control the porosity. Debinding has succeeded by extractive and thermal debinding processes. SiCp preforming samples with good appearance, enough strength, and right porosity were obtained by pre-sintering process at 1100°C. Composites with high density and homogeneous microstructure were manufactured by pressure infiltration under 1050°C and 15MPa. The distribution of aluminium and silicon elements was homogeneous. The primary components of materials are aluminium, β-SiC and α-SiC. The thermal expand coefficient of composites is 8.0×10-6/°C at room temperature, which increases with temperature and reaches to 11.0×10-6/°C at 300°C. The density is 2.92g/cm3, and relative density is more than 97 %. The strength is about 500MPa, approaching to the upper limit of the theoretical value.

Single grain YBCO bulk superconductors were prepared from different starting precursors. In the first case, Y2Ba1Cu1O5 (Y211) powder as the solid phase and the liquid phase of mixture of YBa2Cu3O7-x+BaCuO2+CuO powders were used. In the second case the solid phase was prepared from the mixture of Y2O3+BaCuO2 instead of the conventionally used Y211. The microstructure of samples was studied by polarized light microscopy and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The influence of different staring compositions on the final size of Y211 particles is shown. Also the influence of BaCuO2 concentration in the Y2O3+x·BaCuO2 (x=0.2; 0.5; 0.8; 1; 1.2; 1.5; 1.8) mixture on the Y211 size was studied.
