Este artículo demuestra como el uso de categorías como prostitución, turismo sexual y "tráfico", por parte de representantes de gobiernos, proyectos sociales y académicos, borra la diversidad entre las situaciones e impulsos de la gente que viaja, participa en redes que facilitan los viajes y vive del comercio sexual. Así se reproducen discursos estigmatizantes y controladores que justifican intervenciones de los que quieren "ayudar" pero que entienden muy poco de lo que pasa sobre el terreno. Estos discursos también esquivan la colaboración de los europeos en la problemática de la migración: turistas que quieren disfrutar de sus vacaciones, que pueden formar vínculos afectivos con "nativos" y que cada vez más quieren pagar a gente de fuera por servicios domésticos, de cuidado y sexuales en Europa.

Son numerosos los estudios empíricos sobre la prostitución en Nevada; pero la mayor parte analizan la prostitución legal o a las poblaciones autóctonas blanca y afroamericana. Las investigaciones sobre las mujeres migrantes conducidas por redes de polleros para el comercio sexual hasta Nevada son escasas. Este artículo, fundamentado en una metodología cualitativa que incluye entrevistas a tres reclutadores centroamericanos y quince mujeres de México y Centroamérica, tiene como objetivo examinar la situación de estas mujeres en la industria de la prostitución de Nevada. Esta investigación concluye que las redes de polleros no recurren a la violencia; pero generalmente trasladan a mujeres muy jóvenes, frecuentemente menores de edad, que no pueden abandonar a los dueños de centros nocturnos con quienes contrajeron una deuda. Como contraste, las mujeres migrantes que no fueron conducidas a Nevada por redes de polleros y se prostituyen de modo autónomo suelen mostrar cierto empoderamiento.

<p>La evolución de la ciudad de Quito tuvo su apogeo a mediados del siglo XX al romper su centro histórico estructurado y expandirse hacia sus bordes geográficamente delimitados. Es así como desde la década de los setenta, la infraestructura industrial que predomina en la zona norte de la ciudad se convirtió en un lienzo para la inclusión de la industria del sexo. La tipología del Motel como objeto mutable fue insertado en un entorno que le permitió adaptarse y transformar de manera peculiar la condición <br />del barrio industrial rodeado por contrastantes zonas residenciales. Se estudia así la interacción entre la forma urbana de este trozo de ciudad y la nueva vida de barrio que produce el Motel. En este artículo, el Barrio Motel es analizado desde sus cualidades históricas y normativas de desarrollo, así como a través de sus cualidades urbanas y morfológicas.</p>

El presente artículo analiza prácticas y discursos de la masculinidad hegemónica, especialmente en varones jóvenes y adultos argentinos, que consumen pornografía en sitios de internet reconocidos internacionalmente. Para lo cual, delimitamos un enfoque sobre sexualidad, erotismo y prácticas/discursos de la industria del sexo, especialmente en fenómenos como la pornografía mainstream. Partimos de reflexiones que se desprenden de las investigaciones doctorales (sobre industria del sexo) y posdoctorales (sobre configuración de las masculinidades hegemónicas y su relación con la violencia de género) de las autoras, desde perspectivas feministas latinoamericanas y decoloniales. Metodológicamente, analizamos datos de una incipiente etnografía virtual en foros de debate entre consumidores de pornografía en Argentina, información obtenida de páginas web de pornografía reconocidas y de investigaciones previas en la temática. Como resultado, comprendemos que la pornografía se constituye en un dispositivo pedagógico para los vínculos sexuales, especialmente para la sexualidad heteronormada masculina.

El intenso flujo migratorio que ha caracterizado a la industria del sexo europea durante las últimas dos décadas se ha visto recientemente afectado por la grave crisis económica que sufren algunos países como España. En este sentido, muchas migrantes extracomunitarias con permiso de residencia español se están desplazando cada vez más a otros países de la Unión Europea como Francia, Suiza, Reino Unido, Italia o Alemania, ampliando de esta forma su campo de acción (desempeño de plazas) para el ejercicio de la prostitución. Esta tendencia hacia una mayor movilidad de las migrantes se puede perfectamente contextualizar a partir del propio dinamismo de la industria del sexo en un mercado capitalista globalizado. Aún así, contrasta el hecho de que, con frecuencia, las migrantes viajen a lugares donde la prostitución se halla ampliamente criminalizada y perseguida, exponiéndose a sufrir las consecuencias de la violencia institucional. Es el caso, por ejemplo, de las migrantes latinoamericanas residentes en nuestro país que actualmente se dirigen desde España a Francia para trabajar allí. La existencia de un ordenamiento jurídico europeo muy contradictorio en torno a esta cuestión, a pesar de que el modelo sueco (abolicionismo radical) se está imponiendo en el resto de Estados de la Unión, dificulta mucho el estatus ciudadano de estas migrantes, oscilando su condición jurídica entre el rol de «víctima» y el de migrante «irregular». Al mismo tiempo, otros colectivos de migrantes se van sucediendo en la industria del sexo nacional en función de variables de carácter socio-estructural. Este trabajo pretende abordar estos movimientos migratorios, al margen del excesivamente manido enfoque trafiquista, y reparando, en cambio, en las causas/consecuencias de los fenómenos apuntados.

La interseccionalidad de género, etnia/raza, clase, lugar de origen, orientación y prácticas sexuales interviene en la moderna producción social del mercado del sexo y en la construcción de la ocupación de las trabajadoras sexuales. Este artículo da cuenta de la anterior situación a partir del caso de mujeres afrocolombianas y de otras mujeres inmigrantes que laboran en la industria del sexo en España, mostrando cómo estos elementos favorecen la segmentación socioocupacional en los lugares donde ejercen su trabajo. Para comprender esta realidad, incorporamos en el análisis la perspectiva de las trabajadoras y de otros actores sociales e institucionales involucrados.

Resumen Este es un estudio cuantitativo que tuvo como objetivo analizar las tendencias y los patrones de comportamiento de las trabajadoras sexuales con nacionalidad brasileña en un sitio web español. La muestra consistió en 486 anuncios tomados del sitio web Pasion.com entre 2018-2019. Se realizó una descripción estadística de los perfiles anunciados, seguida de un análisis de contenido utilizando la estrategia de minería de datos y el desarrollo de modelos predictivos de Poisson para datos contables. Los anuncios se distribuyen principalmente en zonas turísticas costeras. El análisis de contenido reveló códigos sobre servicios sexuales ofrecidos y prácticas de riesgo relacionadas con la salud y la seguridad. Entre los comportamientos de riesgo, se encontraron términos que se refieren al sexo sin protección y al uso ilícito de drogas. Las preferencias de los clientes incluyen mujeres de piel parda menores de 20 años y mayores de 40 años que ofrecen servicio de lluvia dorada, alcohol y trabajan de forma independiente.

Este estudio se centra en visibilizar las violencias perpetradas hacia las personas que ejercen la prostitución en la Región de Murcia (España), poniendo en relieve a los diferentes colectivos que las protagonizan. La hipótesis de partida es que la salud, las condiciones laborales y las relaciones interpersonales de los y las trabajadoras del sexo están determinadas por la articulación de una cadena de violencias ejercidas por diferentes agentes sociales. La metodología está basada en una serie de entrevistas semidirigidas en las que se han tenido en cuenta dos perspectivas: la de nueve personas que ejercen la prostitución y la de siete expertos/as en investigación e intervención directa con trabajadoras/es del sexo. Para el análisis de resultados el contenido se organizó atendiendo a los diferentes grupos que se identificaron como responsables de los actos violentos: profesionales sanitarios/as, trabajadores/as de los servicios sociales, políticos/as, cuerpos de seguridad estatal, entidades del tercer sector, secciones feministas, empresariado de la industria del sexo, clientela, investigadores/as vinculados a la academia, medios de comunicación, familiares, parejas, exparejas, amistades y otros/as responsables.

La globalización y el flujo de personas, ideas y mercancías han provocado la mundialización de la industria del sexo a través de cadenas/redes de prostitución y tráfico de personas cada vez más sofisticados, adaptándose a los significados y prácticas cambiantes del sexo. La dominación de los países del Norte sobre los países del Sur y del Este se manifiesta en múltiples formas, entre ellas el turismo sexual. Este artículo analiza algunos aspectos del turismo sexual en contextos nacionales e internacionales, y plantea la conveniencia y oportunidad de explorar lo individual y subjetivo, así como las temáticas sociopolíticas relacionadas.AbstractGlobalization, the flow of people, ideas and goods, generates a situation in which the sex industry has been globalized through increasingly sophisticated channels and networks of prostitution and human traffic. These are, adapting themselves to the changing meanings and practices of sex. The North domination of the South and East is manifested in multiple ways, including sex tourism. The text analyzes some aspects of sex tourism in different national and international contexts, and postulates the advisability and opportunity to explore both the individual and the subjective, as well as related socio–political dimensions.

Las pruebas de preferencia permiten estudiar la conducta alimentaria de perros domésticos; sin embargo, ciertas variables intrínsecas podrían afectar los resultados obtenidos. La presente memoria evaluó el efecto del sexo, raza, edad y peso sobre el consumo total, consumo por peso metabólico y preferencia de dietas preferidas en perros domésticos, y la posible relación de los componentes nutricionales de esas dietas con las preferencias observadas. El sexo, edad y peso de los perros mostraron tener un efecto sobre el consumo y consumo corregido por peso metabólico frente a dietas preferidas (P < 0,04). En relación a las preferencias, el sexo no mostró tener efecto (Beagle P = 0,370; Labrador P = 0,815), mientras que el peso influyó en las preferencias de todas las razas (P < 0,041) mostrando una correlación positiva en Beagle (r = 0,010; P = 0,050) y Bóxer (r = 0,183; P = 0,183) pero negativa en Labrador (r = -0,152; P = 0,011). Por otra parte, la edad solo tuvo efecto en las preferencias de perros Beagle (P = 0,005) mostrando una correlación positiva (r = 0,085; P = 0,003). La materia seca y el extracto no nitrogenado mostraron correlaciones negativas con las preferencias (r = -0,239; P = 0,008 y r = -0,188; P = 0,039) respectivamente. Al igual que algunos componentes de la dieta, el peso, la edad y la raza podrían afectar las preferencias alimentarias de perros domésticos siendo necesario considerar estas variables al momento del diseño y análisis de las pruebas.
Preference tests allow studying the feeding behavior of domestic dogs. However, dogs’ intrinsic variables may affect these preferences. In this study, it was analyzed the effects of sex, breed, age and weight of animals over their food intake, food intake corrected by metabolic weight and their preferences for preferred diets. Additionally, the possible relationship between the nutritional components of dog’s diets and their observed preferences were studied. The sex, age and weight of dogs presented an effect over animals food intake, and corrected food intake, of preferred diets (P < 0,040). Dogs sex did not affect their preferences (Beagle P = 0,370, Labrador P = 0,815), while animals weight influenced preferences in all breeds (P < 0,041), showing a positive correlation in Beagle (r = 0,010; P = 0,050) and Boxer (r = 0,183; P = 0,183) but not in Labrador (r = -0,152, P = 0,011). Moreover, animals age affected only food preferences of Beagle dogs (P = 0,005), showing a positive correlation (r = 0,085; P = 0,003). Dry matter and nitrogen-free extract showed negative correlations with preferences (r = -0,239; P = 0.008 and r = -0,188; P = 0,039) respectively. In the same way than some diet components, animal’s weight, age and breed could affect food preferences of domestic dogs requiring considering these variables when preference tests are designed and analyzed.

Esta pesquisa investigou os sentidos atribuídos ao trabalho por mulheres que atuam em um abatedouro avícola, localizado no interior de Santa Catarina. O trabalho foi compreendido a partir de uma dupla dimensão; de um lado, o trabalho concreto, que seria o modo do ser humano transformar os objetos, se realizando na atividade e, de outro lado, o trabalho inserido nas relações capitalistas. Para a análise do trabalho realizado pelas mulheres, essa compreensão foi complementada com a perspectiva de gênero e da divisão sexual do trabalho. A análise dos processos de produção de sentidos no cotidiano de trabalho foi fundamentada no construcionismo social, uma abordagem que compreende os sentidos como discursos construídos social e historicamente. Esta pesquisa consistiu em um estudo de caso, cujo principal instrumento empregado para a coleta das informações foi a entrevista, efetuada com oito trabalhadoras. As análises foram elaboradas a partir dos discursos das trabalhadoras, o material coletado foi organizado em categorias temáticas e relacionado com as teorias. Os resultados mostraram dois enfoques: o primeiro foi relativo às trajetórias das trabalhadoras, observando os motivos de ingresso das trabalhadoras no abatedouro, a configuração das relações cotidianas no trabalho e as perspectivas profissionais futuras. O segundo enfoque foi referente à divisão sexual do trabalho, na qual foi observada a presença da divisão tanto no âmbito produtivo, como no doméstico. Na produção, as trabalhadoras se ocupavam com tarefas repetitivas e distribuídas em poucos cargos. No espaço doméstico, as mulheres participavam da renda familiar, mas permaneciam com a responsabilidade exclusiva dos trabalhos domésticos não-remunerados. Estes dois enfoques de análises estavam constantemente imbricados, pois as trajetórias das trabalhadoras foram continuamente marcadas pela divisão sexual do trabalho. Este estudo ressalta a importância de haver continuidade nas investigações que relacionem trabalho e gênero neste setor produtivo. This research investigated the meanings attributed to work by women who work in a poultry slaughterhouse, located in the periphery of Santa Catarina. The work was comprised from a dual dimension; on one hand, the concrete work, which is the way humans transform objects, performing activities and, on the other hand, the work included in capitalist relations. For the analysis of work done by women, this understanding was supplemented with the perspective of gender and sexual division of labor. The analysis of the production of meaning in the daily work was based on social constructionism, an approach that understands the meanings and socially and historically constructed discourses. This research consisted of a case study, whose main instrument used for the collection of information was the interview, conducted with eight employees. The tests were prepared from the discourses of the workers, the material collected was organized in thematic categories and related theories. The results showed two approaches: the first was on the professional paths of the workers, noting the reasons for their entry into the slaughterhouse, the configuration of relationships in the daily work, and future career prospects. The second focus was on the gender-based division of labor, which was observed in the presence of division both within manufacturing, as well as in the home. In production, the workers are occupied with repetitive tasks and distributed in a few positions. In the domestic area, women are involved in family income, but remained with the sole responsibility of non-remunerated domestic work. These two approaches of analysis were constantly interlinked, because the paths of the workers were continuously marked by a gender-based division of labor. This study emphasizes the importance of having continuity in investigations related to work and gender.

Este proyecto aborda el tema de la significación de los objetos en el ámbito de lo sexual, y cómo éstos, desde su concepción pueden influir en la construcción cultural de lo que entendemos por erótica, cuerpo y deseo, en este caso, de personas en situación de discapacidad (diversidad funcional), las cuales históricamente han sido suprimidos de su identidad e interés sexual, dando lugar a mitos y prejuicios en torno a cómo viven su sexualidad y la relación con su cuerpo. Desde ese contexto sociocultural, se cuestiona si existe alguna dificultad o problemática en la realización de actos sexuales, ligados al estado físico y/o corpóreo de las personas, y cuál ha sido el rol de los objetos en la satisfacción de sus necesidades y deseos. Para dar respuesta a estas interrogantes, nos introducimos en los relatos y vivencias sexuales cotidianas de los futuros usuarios, considerándolos no solo una fuente de información, sino que colaboradores de vital importancia para iniciar el proceso de investigación y de Diseño de Producto. Desde esta aproximación, se sustenta la realización de una solución que apoye la ejecución de posturas sexuales, diversificando las experiencias y dando lugar a los cuerpos, su vinculación y su placer

El trabajo de investigación desarrollado en la presente tesis es fruto de un profundo análisis y revisión del estado de las operaciones de la Procesadora Industrial Río Seco S.A., que es una empresa subsidiaria de la Compañía de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A. El objetivo de este trabajo es diagnosticar las actividades operativas de la empresa y contrastarlas con las mejores prácticas y métodos para detectar oportunidades de mejora. Esto se logró mediante el uso de conceptos y técnicas aprendidos durante la maestría, tales como la comprensión de la cultura organizacional hasta el análisis contable de los estados financieros de la empresa. Gracias a ello, se identificaron puntos en los cuales el desempeño de la empresa es de gran nivel y puntos en donde aún puede mejorar. Las recomendaciones generadas tras este estudio buscan mejorar la rentabilidad de la empresa, así como su desarrollo competitivo y sostenibilidad. En el presente trabajo de investigación se describe a la empresa y su contexto con un especial énfasis en el proceso productivo de lixiviación de concentrado Pb-Ag-Mn, el cual es la razón de ser del negocio. A continuación, detallamos aspectos tales como los productos elaborados, dimensionamiento de planta, capacidad instalada, planificación, operación, cadena de suministro, costos operacionales y la gestión de mantenimiento. El análisis de cada uno de estos puntos se llevó a cabo haciendo uso de la bibliografía especializada en cada tema en cuestión. Al final, se determinan las buenas prácticas de la empresa, se calculan costos adicionales en los que incurren y las nuevas herramientas que deben emplear para lograr un desempeño de clase mundial. Por lo tanto, se señala que la implementación de las propuestas de mejora requiere una inversión de USD 1’693,425 y como resultado se puede obtener una rentabilidad estimada de USD 6’474,086 en cinco años.
In this thesis, we are presenting a business operating diagnosis of the Industrial Plant Río Seco after a rigorous data collection and analysis. The company is a subsidiary of Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, one of the biggest mining companies in Peru. The development of this diagnosis was possible because of the use of every concept learnt in our MBA, like leadership, financial analysis and organizational behavior. Due to the application of those concepts we were able to identify the critical points that generate economical losses to the company and, therefore, propose ideas to make Rio Seco profitable and sustainable across time. In the present research, the company and its context are described, with a special emphasis on the leaching of Pb-Ag concentrate, which is the core of the business. Then, we detail aspects such as the elaboration of products, plant dimensions, total capacity installed, planning, operation, supply chain, costs and maintenance management. The analysis of each of these points was carried out by using the specialized bibliography on each subject in question. At the end, the good practices of the company are determined and the additional costs incurred are determined. Finally, the tools that the company must use to achieve a world-class performance are proposed. Therefore, it is pointed out that the implementation of the improvement proposals requires an investment of USD 1’693,425 and as a result, an estimated return of USD 6’474,086 in five years can be obtained.

Resumo: O selo Som da Gente, ativo entre os anos de 1981 e 1992, foi criado e gerenciado pelo casal de compositores Walter Santos e Teresa Souza. A empresa produziu, ao todo, 46 discos exclusivamente instrumentais, que representam uma parte bastante significativa dos lançamentos daquele segmento, no período. A partir de um amplo levantamento bibliográfico e da realização de entrevistas com músicos e profissionais envolvidos na história do selo, procurou-se construir um extenso panorama da sua atuação, desde a escolha do cast até a divulgação e distribuição dos discos, no Brasil e no exterior, passando pela relação que se estabeleceu entre os artistas e os empresários. Analisando esses dados e incorporando-os em uma interpretação daquele momento específico do mercado fonográfico brasileiro, este trabalho pôde verificar o comportamento do selo num período de transição da estrutura de organização global desse mercado, no sentido da adoção de um sistema aberto de produção, em que a relação entre pequenas e grandes gravadoras tende a migrar de um cenário onde predomina a atuação autônoma ¿ a chamada produção independente ¿ para um cenário onde o predomínio é de uma atuação complementar entre elas ¿ as pequenas gravadoras produzindo estreitamente vinculadas às grandes

O objetivo geral desta pesquisa foi testar um modelo teórico multinível de predição da atuação gerencial percebida pelo subordinado. Esse objetivo foi destrinchado em três específicos. O primeiro foi analisar o estado da arte da produção científica brasileira sobre liderança. Para tanto, realizou-se, no Estudo 1, uma revisão sistemática de literatura. Os resultados apontam a defasagem da produção nacional em relação à internacional, com predomínio, aqui, de estudos transversais exploratórios. Recomendações foram levantadas para a construção de uma agenda nacional de pesquisa sobre liderança. O segundo objetivo específico foi desenvolver e fornecer evidências de validade de uma escala de atitudes frente à liderança. O relato do Estudo 2 apresenta os procedimentos de construção e validação fatorial da escala com uma amostra de profissionais de Brasília. Foram encontrados dois fatores: atitude frente à liderança transformacional e atitude frente à liderança transacional. Evidências indicam que a escala apresenta boas propriedades psicométricas. Por fim, o Estudo 3 visou atender ao terceiro objetivo específico: mensurar o efeito, sobre a atuação gerencial percebida pelo subordinado, de variáveis do nível do subordinado (valores organizacionais percebidos) e de variáveis do nível do gestor (atitudes, valores pessoais e sexo). Uma coleta de dados com líderes e liderados de uma organização pública brasileira, seguida de análise multinível, permitiu constatar que a percepção do subordinado sobre a atuação gerencial é influenciada por variáveis tanto do nível do subordinado, quanto do gestor. Em relação às primeiras, destaca-se o efeito negativo do valor organizacional percebido de hierarquia. Em relação às variáveis do nível do gestor, destaca-se o sexo, que apresentou tanto efeito direto, quanto efeito moderador da relação entre valores e atuação gerencial percebida. Os três estudos contribuem para o avanço das pesquisas sobre preditores da atuação gerencial. Implicações, limitações e sugestões de pesquisas futuras são apresentadas ao final desta dissertação. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
This research aimed to test a theoretical multilevel model for the prediction of the leader behavior perceived by subordinates. This general goal has been divided into three specific goals. The first was to analyze the state of the art of the Brazilian scientific production on leadership. To accomplish this, a systematic literature review was undertaken in Study 1. The results of this review indicate that the national production of literature on this subject lags behind compared to the international production. Based on these findings the construction of a national research agenda about leadership was recommended. The second specific goal was to develop a scale of attitudes toward leadership and to search for evidences of its validity. The report of Study 2 presents the procedures for the construction and factor validation of such scale with a sample of professionals from Brasilia. Two factors emerged: attitude toward transformational leadership and attitude toward transactional leadership. Evidences showed that the scale has adequate psychometric properties. Finally, Study 3 addressed the third specific goal: to measure the effect, on leader behavior perceived by subordinates, of subordinate-level variables (perceived organizational values) and leader-level variables (attitudes, personal values and gender). Data were collected from leaders and their subordinates of a Brazilian public organization. Multilevel analysis has shown that the subordinates’ perception of their leader’s behavior is affected by subordinate-level and leaderlevel variables. As for the former, we highlight the negative effect of the perceived organizational value of hierarchy. Among leader-level variables, gender stood out, since it had a direct effect, as well as a moderating effect on the relation between values and perceived leader behavior. The three studies contribute to advancing the knowledge on predictors of leader behavior. Implications, limitations and suggestions for future research are presented at the end of this dissertation.

This paper is about the new methods and metrics used in industry and business today striving for better revenues and larger market shares. It investigates the relations between the old fordistic and tayloristic way of manufacturing and compares it to the models used in industry today for being competitive, seeking to please customers and becoming more flexible. More specific the paper is about if Six Sigma and lean production are the key for succeeding these days. SKF:s factory in Gothenburg and other companies will make an example for how these methods are used in practice.

The aim is to try to answer if these systems with inherited tools and methods are the right way to get the flexibility that is needed for being able to deliver the right goods to customers and market. For a company to be flexible decisions must be made fast and needed changes must be able to be done easy and without too large costs and investments. Both in Six Sigma and lean production the total staff in a company is involved with quality matters and continuous improvements. This brings an atmosphere and a certain way to work that makes it possible to reach high defined goals and move towards a common vision. Flexibility can be reached in both production and in developing new products when a company has an atmosphere that makes it possible for all personnel to talk the same language and strive for the same thing. Six Sigma and lean production have the possibility to achieve a higher level of flexibility, that is, when being applied in right places in the right way.

Un gran problema para la minería son los contaminantes que se encuentran en los yacimientos de minerales. Las minas de plata contaminada con manganeso son penalizadas al comercializar el concentrado, lo que hace inviable la explotación de estas reservas. Tres procesos principales de lavado ácido (lixiviación), ácido sulfúrico y cristalización permiten separar el contaminante y hacerlo comercializable como sulfato de manganeso monohidratado para la agricultura o la fabricación de pilas. El objetivo de la investigación es desarrollar un plan estratégico para la Procesadora Industrial Río Seco 2016-2020, que pertenece a la Compañía de Minas Buenaventura S.A.A., para implementar los procesos innovadores tecnológicos de gestión de producción que cumplan los estándares medioambiental y social. Garantizar el incremento de la producción de sulfato de manganeso monohidratado, dar el valor agregado de alta calidad al mineral de plata de Uchucchacua, recuperar la plata en más del 5%, y ser el principal productor de manganeso monohidratado a nivel mundial.

L'etude de la colonia sedo a permis de decrire la genese et le developpement d'une colonie industrielle consacree a la production de tissus de coton (origine des entrepreneurs, motivations, raisons du choix d' implantation, conditions de la production, identification de la clientele. . . ). On a pu mettre en evidence la dependance de l'entreprise par rapport a la source d'energie et la recherche des moyens pour en augmenter la puissance. On a souligne les politiques d'attraction d'une main d'oeuvre, aussi bien d'origine industrielle que paysanne. On a pu suivre la conquete progressive d'un marche interieur de plus en plus etendu, seul debouche reel d'une production sensible aux crises et tres concurrencee sur le plan international. Enfin, l'etude de cas a pu mettre en evidence les strategies patronales vis a vis d'une main d'oeuvre revendicative, profondement travaillee par les mots d'ordre de la 1ere internationale. A la fin du siecle, le systeme des colonies industrielles porte ses fruits et aboutit a une veritable domestication de la population ouvriere.

This study examined the effects of listening quality, biological sex, and gender on leader-member exchange (LMX) relationships. Participants included 112 of 115 Resident Assistants (RAs) at Ball State University in Muncie, IN. RAs (i.e., members) were asked to complete a 13 5-item survey regarding their perceptions of the quality of their relationship with their leader, their leader's quality of listening, and their leader's gender characteristics. The leaders in this study were Residence Hall Directors (RHDs) and Assistant Residence Hall Directors (ARHDs). Results found that members (i.e., RAs) who felt they had high quality LMX relationships with their leaders (i.e., RHDs and/or ARHDs) also rated their leaders high in listening quality. Results also indicated that RAs who were of the same gender as their ARHDs, rated them higher in listening quality and perceived a higher quality LMX relationship. This significant difference was shown only in RA/ARHD dyads and not RA/RI1D dyads.

En este artículo se analizan las características del alumnado que propician una mayor o menor involucración emocional en un contexto de enseñanza semipresencial de posgrado en el ámbito de la industria. En particular se consideran la experiencia profesional, la formación previa en la materia, motivaciones de aprendizaje, experiencias previas en docencia semipresencial, edad y sexo. Para ello se obtiene un feedback del alumnado (N=74) mediante una encuesta con escala de Likert. Los resultados muestran que la experiencia profesional en el sector y la formación previa, así como las motivaciones de aprendizaje son las que condicionan de forma significativa la involucración emocional del alumnado en este contexto.

As Japan is surrounded by the ocean, it has always been one of the key strategies in the nation’s industrial policy making to take advantage of the ocean. The nation’s industrial structure has changed, however, and the emphasis has shifted from the heavy industries to the service industries. How to revitalize the activities related to the ocean and the coastal towns has become an extremely important task. In response to this need, a new development concept has attracted much attention, in which vitalization of a given local area is achieved through utilization of its own resources. Eco-tourism offers a new and sustainable tourism development, incorporating the philosophy of harmony with the indigenous nature and unique culture. The keyword of Sustainable Development is particularly important not only in the revitalization of local industries but also in the preservation of global resources. In this paper, Eco-tourism is considered to be a new tourism industry that gives vitality to local communities. To gain basic data, residents’ views on the local environmental factors are represented in concrete terms through Contingent Valuation Method (C.V.M.). The suburban town area of the Higashi-Geiyo Islands has been selected as the subject of the survey.

Introduction: Industrial working area pollutions are the reason for high incidence of work-related cardiovascular diseases among workers in metallurgical industries. Goal: Selenium oxide (SeO) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs) exposure effects to cardiovascular system of rats assessment. Methods: Suspensions of SeO NPs and/or CuO NPs synthesized by laser ablation were administered intraperitoneally to rats 3 times per week for 6 weeks. Electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure (BP) recorded non-invasively in animals. Biochemical parameters of blood serum were evaluated. Results: After NPs exposure, it was found the decrease of vasoconstrictor entotelin-1, which probably led to blood pressure parameters decrease. These changes were more pronounced after CuO NPs exposure than after SeO NPs exposure. ECG changes (heart rate decrease and duration of the QT interval due to the ST segment, pause between cardiac cycles increase - TP interval, T amplitude decrease) indicate the pacemakers activity weakening and myocardial repolarization processes violation. RSM analysis revealed that the type of combined cardiotoxic effect of SeO NPs and CuO NPs is ambiguous. Conclusion: SeO NPs and CuO NPs exposure led to heart and blood vessels functions weakening probably due to oxidative stress increased. Combined cardiotoxic effect of the studied NPs is characterized by typological diversity.

Software Ecosystems (SECO) are a set of actors and components that work as a unit, relating to each other based on the common interest of providing solutions or services to the software industry. For a better visualization and understanding of a SECO, recent studies propose the modeling of the formed network. However, there is still no formalized modeling standard for this area. The Software Supply Network (SSN) notation is a series of connected software, hardware, and services organizations that cooperate to meet market demands. In this context, this work aims to present an analysis approach and a study of the SECO evolution based on SSN models. This approach was implemented in a SECO modeling tool.

This research provides a qualitative, in-depth exploration of the content writing industry in Bangladesh, identifying prevalent trends, challenges, and growth potential. The study utilizes data from 44 participants, which include content writers and clients with diverse levels of industry experience, collected via online surveys and detailed interviews. Key findings suggest that while the industry is marked by a high demand for unique, engaging, and SEO-optimized content, issues pertaining to AI’s role, market saturation, and remuneration concerns persist. Despite these challenges, strategies for success emerged, such as continuous learning, effective client-writer communication, and strategic use of AI and social media tools. The study highlights the industry’s considerable potential for growth and recommends enhancing skill sets, promoting clear communication, creating unique value propositions, and encouraging supportive industry-wide policies. The study also signals future research directions, including the exploration of AI’s impact, pay practices, professional development programs, and the differential roles of social media platforms.

F-GC-02 Informe de Inteligencia Competitiva y de Mercado1 Introducción Este estudio permite desarrollar inteligencia de mercado, científica y tecnológica sobre el extracto de Cannabis sativa, específicamente del Cannabidiol, para mapear los avances científicos y tecnológicos que se han venido desarrollando en los últimos años, así como su aplicación y desarrollo de productos derivados. El CBD es un componente extraído de la planta de cáñamo, la cual se refiere específicamente a Cannabis sativa con un THC total inferior a 1% en peso seco en hojas y cogollos. La marihuana y el cáñamo pertenecen biológicamente al mismo género, su única distinción es su concentración de THC. Por su baja concentración de THC el cáñamo no es psicoactivo, a diferencia de la marihuana (Hilderbrand, 2018). El cáñamo es cultivado en aproximadamente 40 países, siendo Canadá, Corea, Francia y China los más grandes productores (ONU, 2022). En el caso de América Latina los países más avanzados en el cultivo son Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Chile y Colombia, esto debido a que fueron los primeros países en poseer acciones legislativas a favor de la producción y uso del cáñamo (LAIHA, s. f.). El cultivo de cáñamo se considera sostenible y versátil porque se aprovecha la totalidad de la planta, absorbe grandes cantidades de CO2 y se usa en productos alimenticios, biocombustibles, textiles y materiales de construcción. Este cultivo cumple con varios de los atributos demandados para las producciones agropecuarias actuales, se puede mencionar el aprovechamiento industrial de toda la planta y el alto potencial como cultivo orgánico. El mercado mundial del cáñamo, en su totalidad de industrias, podría alcanzar los 18 600 millones de dólares en 2027 (ONU, 2022)

Human trafficking, a form of modern slavery, is the recruitment, transport, and/or transfer of persons using force, fraud, or coercion to exploit them for acts of labor or sex. According to the International Labor Organization, human trafficking is the fastest growing organized crime with approximately $150 billion in annual profits and 40.3 million individuals trapped in slave-like conditions. While it is not compulsory to involve transportation for human trafficking, the transportation industry plays a critical role in combating human trafficking as traffickers often rely on the transportation system to recruit, move, or transfer victims. This multi-method study investigates the role of transportation in combatting human trafficking in California by conducting a survey followed up with semi-structured in-depth interviews with key stakeholders. The expert input is supplemented with labor violations and transit accessibility analysis. Experts emphasize the importance of education, training, and awareness efforts combined with partnership, data, and analysis. Screening transportation industry personnel for human trafficking is another step that the industry can take to combat this issue. Particularly, sharing perpetrator information and transportation related trends among transportation modalities and local groups could help all anti-trafficking practitioners. In addition, the transportation industry can support the victims and survivors in their exit attempts and post/exit life. Examples of this support include serving as a safe haven, and providing transportation to essential services. Transportation should ensure that all of these efforts are survivor-centric, inclusive for all types of trafficking, and tailored to the needs of the modality, population, and location.

Background Most of Australian prawn aquaculture production is based on P. monodon. However, the Australian industry is under intense competition from lower priced overseas imports. The availability of all-female monosex populations, by virtue of their large size and associated premium prize, will offer competitive advantage to the industry which desperately needs to counteract competitors within this market. As for the redclaw production in Israel, although it is at its infancy, the growers realized that the production of males is extremely advantageous and that such management strategy will change the economic assumptions and performances of this aquaculture to attract many more growers. Original objectives (as in original proposal) Investigating the sex inheritance mechanism in the tiger prawn. Identification of genes expressed uniquely in the androgenic gland (AG) of prawns and crayfish. The above genes and/or their products will be used to localize the AG in the prawn and manipulate the AG activity in both species. Production of monosex populations through AG manipulation. In the prawn, production of all-female populations and in the crayfish, all-male populations. Achievements In the crayfish, the AG cDNA library was further screened and a third AG specific transcript, designated Cq-AG3, had been identified. Simultaneously the two AG specific genes, which were previously identified, were further characterized. Tissue specificity of one of those genes, termed Cq-AG2, was demonstrated by northern blot hybridization and RNA in-situ hybridization. Bioinformatics prediction, which suggested a 42 amino acid long signal anchor at the N-terminus of the deduced Cq-AG2, was confirmed by immunolocalization of a recombinant protein. Cq-IAG's functionality was demonstrated by dsRNA in-vivo injections to intersex crayfish. Cq-IAGsilencing induced dramatic sex-related alterations, including male feature feminization, reduced sperm production, extensive testicular apoptosis, induction of the vitellogeningene expression and accumulation of yolk proteins in the ovaries. In the prawn, the AG was identified and a cDNA library was created. The putative P. monodonAG hormone encoding gene (Pm-IAG) was identified, isolated and characterized for time of expression and histological localization. Implantation of the AG into prawn post larvae (PL) and juveniles resulted in phenotypic transformation which included the appearance of appendix masculina and enlarged petasma. The transformation however did not result in sex change or the creation of neo males thus the population genetics stage to be executed with Prof. Hulata did not materialized. Repeated AG implantation is currently being trialed. Major conclusions and Implications, both scientific and agricultural Cq-IAG's involvement in male sexual differentiation had been demonstrated and it is strongly suggested that this gene encodes an AG hormone in this crayfish. A thorough screening of the AG cDNA library shows Cq-IAG is the prominent transcript within the library. However, the identification of two additional transcripts hints that Cq-IAG is not the only gene mediating the AG effects. The successful gene silencing of Cq-IAG, if performed at earlier developmental stages, might accomplish full and functional sex reversal which will enable the production of all-male crayfish populations. Pm-IAG is likely to play a similar role in prawns. It is possible that repeated administration of the AG into prawn will lead to the desired full sex reversal, so that WZ neo males, crossed with WZ females can result in WW females, which will form the basis for monosex all-female population.

Workplace inclusion is a core component of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Hong Kong. Workplace inclusion points to the need for employers to recognize diversity among employees, to acknowledge their contributions to the work environment and to raise professional standards for the work force. Diversity within a workplace indicates inclusion of persons with different backgrounds as in racial, ethnic, sex, health status, sexual orientation and gender identity. Women are already less represented at senior levels across various business sectors in Hong Kong. Lesbians and bisexual women face a double glass ceiling in the workplace as a result of both their gender and sexual orientation. Funded by Lingnan University’s Innovation and Impact Fund, and in partnership with Interbank Forum and Lesbians in Finance, Prof. Denise Tse-Shang Tang conducted an online survey and two focus groups targeting lesbians and bisexual women working in Hong Kong’s financial and banking industry. The aim of the study is to examine the specific challenges and barriers faced by lesbians and bisexual women in Hong Kong’s financial services industry. We found that only 37% of survey respondents were out at work, with 23% partially out to close colleagues. In other words, there are still key concerns with being out at work. On the issue of a glass ceiling for LGBT+ corporate employees, 18% of the survey respondents agreed and 47% somewhat agreed that such a ceiling exists. When asked whether it is harder for lesbians and bisexual women to come out in the workplace than it is for gay men, 32% agreed and 46% somewhat agreed. 27% agreed and 39% somewhat agreed with the statement that it is difficult for lesbians and bisexual women to climb up the corporate ladder. Other findings pointed to the low visibility of lesbians and bisexual women in corporate settings, lack of mentorship, increased levels of stress and anxiety, and the fear of being judged as both a woman and a lesbian. Masculine-presenting employees face significantly more scrutiny than cisgender female employees. Therefore, even though discussion on diversity and inclusion has been on the agenda for better corporate work environment in Hong Kong, there still remain gaps in raising awareness of lesbian and bisexual women’s issues.

[Extract from Foreword] This ‘cruise report’ is the first of a short series, reflecting the aspiration of the Clyde Fishermen’s Association to establish a rigorous sampling scheme to monitor changes in the abundance and distribution of cod (and later other gadoid species) within the Clyde area. The Scottish Oceans Institute was approached to provide independent scientific support in early 2016. A series of surveys was then conducted in 2016, 2017 and 2018. In each survey the SOI provided observers, collected data and wrote up a cruise report detailing the methods used and the location, numbers, weights, sex and maturity states of fish caught. Trials were halted after 2018 firstly because of pressing issues resulting from Brexit which absorbed any potentially available human and other resources, and secondly because of the COVID pandemic. The reports remained as unapproved and incomplete drafts until 2022. Picking up these reports again in 2022, we have responded to reviewers’ comments since made by Marine Scotland Science and have finalised all four reports in the 2016-2018 current series.

El presente documento recoge el primero de una serie de trabajos realizados por el equipo de investigación de la Cátedra de Energía de Orkestra, así como los promovidos desde la misma. Dichos trabajos se enmarcan en la nueva colección “Cuadernos Orkestra”, que pone a disposición de los stakeholders y del público en general una serie de trabajos realizados por Orkestra‐Instituto Vasco de Competitividad. Los trabajos que la Cátedra de Energía de Orkestra lleva a cabo ponen de manifiesto, por un lado, la importancia de la energía en la competitividad del tejido industrial y, por otro lado, las implicaciones del sector energético en la economía en general. Orkestra‐Insituto Vasco de Competitividad, es un centro para el análisis y debate sobre competitividad territorial, nacido en 2006 en el seno de la Fundación Deusto, como resultado de la convergencia entre diferentes iniciativas estratégicas, privadas y públicas. En el marco del Plan Estratégico 2010‐2013 se constituyó la Cátedra de Energía, orientada a reflexionar y a aportar elementos al debate sobre el logro de una energía eficiente, sostenible y competitiva. Es bajo este prisma que la Cátedra ha creado la serie de Documentos de Energía que se inician con este estudio sobre la “Transformación del sector energético del País Vasco. Aspectos relativos a la competitividad”. Este documento se organiza en torno a seis capítulos, el primero de los cuales ofrece una contextualización del sector energético. El segundo se basa en la consideración de la energía como input de la economía vasca. En el siguiente capítulo se analiza la estrategia energética vasca y la estrategia Energibasque. El capítulo cuarto analiza las diferentes fuentes de energía como factor de competitividad, describiendo las principales infraestructuras energéticas en el territorio. El capítulo quinto analiza el sector energético desde su perspectiva más restringida, realizando un análisis de la productividad y costes de la actividad, así como un análisis del sector desde la perspectiva clúster, debido a su efecto tractor sobre la actividad industrial, a la que plantea nuevos retos tecnológicos y empresariales. El último capítulo recoge una serie de conclusiones y recomendaciones fundamentales resultantes del análisis realizado.

Health and wellbeing and susceptibility to disease are causally linked to food and nutrition intake, an observation that has informed dietary advice for centuries. However, physiological response to different food types varies greatly by individual, meaning that a “one size fits all” approach to nutritional advice may be inadequate to ensure optimum health outcomes. Personalised nutrition (PN) services, operating at the intersection between health advisory, the wellness sector, and the food system, seek to address this through individualised targeted dietary advice focused on achieving lasting dietary behaviour change that is beneficial for health. In this report we specifically analyse the evolution of personalised nutrition defined as nutritional advice based on personalised analysis of scientific data obtained from the customers’ phenotype and the scientific knowledge base underpinning such advice. We will touch on technologies that enable the personalisation of food more generally only insofar as they might impact PN in the future through wider network effects within the food system. Personalised nutrition as a clinical and academic field of study has existed for at least four decades, however recent investor interest and cheaper direct-to-consumer (D2C) testing devices have enabled a growing commercial PN sector that has evolved over the past ten years. Commercial PN services provide mostly advice, which is claimed to be based on the latest scientific evidence showing the causal connections between certain individual phenotypic traits (genes, lifestyle factors, gut microbe, blood parameters, age, sex, etc.) and the physiological response to food. In addition to advice, providers increasingly offer personalised supplements and vitamins (which are within the FSA remit) as well as personalised, tailored subscription meal plans. The sector in the UK is currently still small but represented by a number of different business models serving increasing consumer interest in health-related offerings. Moreover, there are hopes that commercial PN might, in the longer-term future, contribute to public health. In this report we have analysed the specific input trends that have enabled the emergence of the sector with the drivers and challenges that are shaping its evolution today. This analysis included a thorough assessment of the science that underpins PN services, the role of technology trends and commercial activity including an overview of the current global and UK markets, wider social trends that impact consumer uptake of PN, and the existing regulatory environment that surrounds PN, a currently unregulated commercial activity. The potential impact on public health, food safety and consumer choice as the industry develops over the coming decade were also assessed.
