Abstract (sommario):
Single-phase induction motors are also used extensively for smaller loads. Speed control of induction motor has beenimplemented using PI (Proportional-Integral) controller and Fuzzy PI controller in Simulink MATLAB. The results showthat induction motor Fuzzy-PI speed control method results in a quicker response with no overshoot than the conventional PI controller. The settling time of induction motor Fuzzy-PI speed is better than the conventional PI controller. The integral time of weighted absolute error (ITEA) performance criteria also shows that the induction motor Fuzzy-PI speed control has better performance. Moreover, the induction motor Fuzzy-PI speed control has a strong ability to adapt to the significant change of system parameters.

Abstract (sommario):
This paper discusses the analysis of the performance of an induction motor using the motor current signature analysis (MCSA) technique. Induction motor is a type of electric machine that is widely used in industry. One of the industries that utilize induction motors is a steam power plant (SPP). The role of induction motors is very vital in SPP operations. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the performance, stability, and efficiency to anticipate disturbances that can cause damage or decrease the life of the induction motor. MCSA is a reliable technique that can be used to analyze damage to an induction motor. In this technique, the induction motor current signal is detected using a current transducer. The signal is then passed on to the signal conditioning and then into the data acquisition device. The important signal data is analyzed in adequate computer equipment. The results of this analysis determine the condition of the induction motor, whether it is normal or damaged. In this research, a case study was carried out at the Rembang steam power plant, Central Java, Indonesia. The results of the analysis of several induction motors show that most of them are in normal conditions and are still feasible to operate.

Abstract (sommario):
Many experiments have been conducted in this research work which is (i) connecting a zigzag transformer with an induction motor, (ii) connecting a zigzag transformer with multiple induction motors, and (iii) connecting multiple zigzag transformers with multiple induction motors. These experiments provide a thorough understanding of the sequence network connections under the single-phasing condition of a three-phase induction motor. Moreover, these experiments protect the three-phase induction motors from unbalancing voltage supply and allow the induction motor to start under unbalance voltage supply. Additionally, they keep the three-phase induction motor running even any one of the three phases disconnected from the power supply without creating excessive heat in the motor winding.

Abstract (sommario):
Three-phase induction motors are the most widely used type of motor in industry, induction motors are widely used as prime movers to turn loads on production machines in the industrial world. The output of a three-phase induction motor is the amount of torque to move the load. If the load torque carried by the three-phase induction motor is greater, then the three-phase induction motor will not rotate. And if the load torque carried by a three-phase induction motor is too small, this is considered excessive. In this analysis the method used by the author is the experimental method of analysis using the Power Simulator application with load data and induction motor data. Based on the analysis, it was found that Istart and Inominal on a 15 kW induction motor have different values according to the torque value used, so the torque value is directly proportional to the Istart value. Meanwhile, Istart induction motors 15 kW 894.324 (15 N.m), 894.149 (25 N.m), 894.159 (60 N.m) and 45 kW induction motors 355.15 (25 N.m), 355.172 (60 N.m), 355.172 (80 N.m) and induction motors 55 kW 337.743 (30N.m), 337.76 (50N.m) and 337.761 (100N.m) Reaches 80% of full speed, torque is at its highest “pull-out torque”) and current starts to fall and is at full speed, or synchronous speed, torque and stator currents drop to zero, it can be concluded that the greater the value of the stator resistance, the smaller the value of the starting current. Abstract (sommario):
Induction motors are alternating current motors that are most often used in the industrial world. Induction motors are used as pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors, and supporting other production propulsion equipment. The use of induction motors in industry is more profitable than DC motors or synchronous motors, one of the advantages is a strong and durable construction and easy maintenance and high efficiency. The problem of one of the open stator phases is one of the problems in the operation of an induction motor. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study in the form of analysis and research in the laboratory to see how the opening of one of the stator phases affects the performance and temperature rise of the induction motor. The test is carried out by overloading the induction motor by 0.5 Nm; 1.0 Nm; 1.5 Nm; 2.0 Nm; 2.5 Nm; 3.0 Nm. From the research conducted, it can be concluded that, among others, the opening of a single stator phase results in greater motor losses and an increase in motor temperature. Motor efficiency is better when the motor is in normal phase condition.

Abstract (sommario):
Electric motors are a very vital need in an industry, household and other needs. Electric motors that are often used in an industry are types of induction motors, where the induction machine is an electric motor that is very easy in its maintenance system so that this motor has the highest rating in its use system. In this study, using a single-phase induction motor as a maggot dryer is useful for making the maggot storage period longer and of high selling value. This study aims to protect the single-phase induction motor in the maggot drying system against temperature increase due to prolonged grinding using the DS18B20 sensor. So that the single-phase induction motor is able to work when the motor is unstable at the time of overcurrent. With the installation of the DS18B20 sensor, the single-phase induction motor will stop automatically when the given temperature setting has exceeded the limit set on the sonoff. With the protection system of this single-phase induction motor, it can maximize the performance of the electric motor in the maggot drying process and provide convenience in remote motor control and time setting on and off using the Internet of Things (IoT).

Abstract (sommario):
A three-phase induction motor absorbs the most electric power among other electrical loads. Therefore, three-phase induction motors are the primary electric motors used in industrial applications thanks to their simple construction and easy operation, as well as low cost and low maintenance costs. Efficiency is a critical parameter that characterizes an induction motor as a traction motor. The traction motor is defined as the engine's effectiveness in converting electrical power at its input into mechanical energy by rotating torque on its axis. One way to analyze the efficiency is to use test data obtained from laboratory tests in case-loaded and no-load tests. Calculations using several formulas on the efficiency of an induction motor as a traction motor produce the same result, namely the efficiency of 98.6% by applying variable frequency drive (VFD). The result of laboratory tests and their analysis can be used as a reference for designing three-phase induction motors for railway traction motors, especially traction motors for high-speed trains<em>.</em>

Abstract (sommario):
Induction motors are widely employed in a variety of sectors, from household gadgets to industrial machinery. This mandates the deployment of an effective and safe speed control device. Induction motors may also run in either direction, which is beneficial in a variety of applications. The Induction Motor Speed and Direction Controller Project are designed to regulate the induction motor's speed and direction. Induction motors run on straight AC lines, and the amount of power they receive determines how fast they revolve. Through AC driver circuitry, we may regulate the power of the AC line to change the speed of the induction motor. A microcontroller from the Atmega family is utilized to provide PWM power to an opto-coupler, which drives the TRIAC that supplies power to the induction motor. The microcontroller receives instructions via a mobile phone connection to the system. The mobile phone sends DTMF signals to the system, which the system recognizes and responds to appropriately. A button is used to raise the speed of the induction motor, a button to change direction, and a button to lower the speed of the induction motor, according to the video. On the LCD, the entire procedure may be observed in real time. In this way, this project demonstrates how to control the speed and direction of an induction motor.

Abstract (sommario):
Although three-phase induction motors are the most common motor type in industry, a growing interest has arisen in emerging electric motor technologies like synchronous reluctance motors and permanent magnet motors. Synchronous reluctance motors are a step forward compared to permanent magnet motors when the cost of the system is considered. The main focus of this study is low-power industrial applications, which generally use three-phase induction motors. In this study, the synchronous reluctance motor family is compared at three different power levels: 2.2 kW, 4 kW, and 5.5 kW. The aim of this study is to design and compare synchronous reluctance motors, which can be alternative to the reference induction motors. Finite element analysis is performed for the reference induction motors initially. Their stators are kept the same and the rotors are redesigned to satisfy output power requirements of the induction motors. Detailed design, analysis, and optimization processes are applied to the synchronous reluctance motors considering efficiency, power density, and manufacturing. The results are evaluated, and the optimized designs are chosen for each power level. They are prototyped and tested to measure their performance.

Abstract (sommario):
An organization or sector now needs to own a three-phase induction generator. The condition in which the factory was in operation forced the 3-phase scraper conveyor induction motor at PT Citra Sawit Lestari to continue to move the palm oil that is transported from the truck to the thresher. This process continues as long as the factory operates Under these conditions the load obtained by the 3-phase scraper conveyor induction motor affects the condition and performance of the induction motor This research was conducted on a 3-phase scraper conveyor induction motor using a quantitative approach that allowed the company to find out the causes of the reduced performance of 3-phase induction motors and find out the actions that must be taken so that the performance of 3-phase induction motors remains optimal Based on this research, it was concluded that changes in load could affect the performance of a 3-phase induction motor and the MAPE value of motor torque was 0.038%, motor power is 0.0008%, and rotational speed is 0.025%. With an average MAPE percentage value of less than 10%, this indicated that the performance of the 3-phase induction motor was still very good.

Abstract (sommario):
In the presented work a new identification method of difficult measured internal quantities of IM, such as components of magnetic flux vector and electromagnetic torque, is proposed. Commonly measurable quantities of IM like stator currents, stator voltage frequency and mechanical angular speed are used for identification to determine a feedback effect of the rotor flux vector on vector of stator currents of IM. Based on this feedback it is also possible to identify actual value of the rotor resistance, which can alter during IM operation. This has a significant impact on precision of identified quantities as well as on master control of IM. Stability of the identification structure is guaranteed by position of roots of characteristic equation of its linear transfer function. Results obtained from simulation measurements confirm quality, effectivity, feasibility, and robustness of the proposed identification method.

Abstract (sommario):
Operations in the industry today use induction motors. There are several types of induction motors, one of which is a 3-phase induction motor. In the use of a 3-phase induction motor, there are several problems at the beginning, one of which is that there is a current surge in the starting received by the windings or rotor of a 3-phase induction motor which will cause damage to the motor windings. In previous research, research has been carried out to reduce electric starting spikes in 3 phase motors by lowering the frequency in a study entitled "Adjusting the Speed of a 3 Phase Induction Motor by Changing the Frequency Using the ALTIVAR 12P Inverter" it was found that the frequency of the regulated voltage was low and stable to minimize inrush current in 3-phase motor starting. Therefore, research was conducted on a system that can reduce these problems, namely the use of a star-delta system on a 3-phase motor to reduce electrical starting spikes in a 3-phase motor. In this study, the electric current value was 0.59 A, the star-circuit voltage value was 219.65 V, and the short-circuit current value was 1.01 A.

Abstract (sommario):
The design of IOT technology is shown to monitor and diagnose the performance of a three-phase induction motor and record crucial operational characteristics. Today's technology is rapidly tied to the Internet of Things (IOT), keeping things connected efficiently. For the purpose of gathering and processing induction motor parameters, the solutions given include an IOT-based platform. The parameters are made up of sensors, including humidity, temperature, voltage, and current sensors. With the help of the pocket IOT application, this data may be shown on a smartphone, accessed via web sites, and stored in a cloud platform. It will be promptly informed if performance limits are exceeded. To prevent motor downtime, an induction motor can be checked and immediate action taken can save money and time. Utilising IOT to monitor induction motors has several benefits, including notification of problem alerts and historical data for preventative maintenance. Recent technological advancements have greatly improved the quality, speed, and ease of our lives. This article explains how to manage and control induction motors (IOT) using the Internet of Things. The IOT is more effective and convenient for controlling systems because it can be used from anywhere via Wi-Fi. This intelligent system's main objective is to prevent induction motor failure by taking preventive measures. Because of its many benefits, including their self-starting nature, low cost, high power factor, and robust construction, induction motors are utilised in a wide range of applications, including those for electric vehicles, businesses, and agricultural areas. In order to maximise motor efficiency and assure safe and reliable operation, it is crucial to identify defects in motors as soon as possible using the best smart protection approach currently available. Remote monitoring is possible for the induction motor's speed, voltage, current, temperature, humidity, and other electrical, mechanical, and environmental parameters because errors in these areas seriously damage the motors and have an impact on the induction motor's ability to function in other applications. In this system for monitoring and controlling Induction using IOT, a number of sensors are employed to acquire the motor data in real-time and a relay is used to control the motor. The proposed system will collect and analyse induction motor parameters in real-time using an IOT-based platform.

Abstract (sommario):
An asynchronous electric motor with a short-circuited rotor is the most common means of converting electrical energy into mechanical energy in the electric drive of working machines in industry and agriculture. Modern methods of increasing the energy efficiency of induction motors with short-circuited rotor are aimed at finding with the help of computer technology the optimal solutions in the processes of their design, production and operation using new high-performance materials in machines. Such methods do not change the physical processes occurring in the induction motor, ie are passive. However, despite numerous improvements and scientific achievements, technical and economic indicators of induction motors still do not meet modern energy requirements. It is necessary to use ways to increase the energy efficiency of induction motors while maintaining their simplicity and reliability. It is proposed to use internal capacitive compensation of reactive power of induction motors. The aim of the research is to develop a mathematical model of an induction motor with internal capacitive reactive power compensation in the MathLab Simulink software environment for the calculation of operating and mechanical characteristics. A mathematical model of an induction motor with internal capacitive reactive power compensation in the MathLab Simulink software environment using the theory of electric circuits has been developed. The developed mathematical model allows to study the working and mechanical characteristics of an induction motor with internal capacitive compensation of reactive power. Numerical researches of characteristics of the induction motor with internal capacitive compensation of reactive power are carried out and their comparison with corresponding characteristics of the basic induction motor is carried out.

AbstractA degradation of metallurgical equipment is normal process depended on time. Some factors such as: operation process, friction, high temperature can accelerate the degradation process of metallurgical equipment. In this paper the authors analyzed three phase induction motors. These motors are common used in the metallurgy industry, for example in conveyor belt. The diagnostics of such motors is essential. An early detection of faults prevents financial loss and downtimes. The authors proposed a technique of fault diagnosis based on recognition of currents. The authors analyzed 4 states of three phase induction motor: healthy three phase induction motor, three phase induction motor with 1 faulty rotor bar, three phase induction motor with 2 faulty rotor bars, three phase induction motor with faulty ring of squirrel-cage. An analysis was carried out for original method of feature extraction called MSAF-RATIO15 (Method of Selection of Amplitudes of Frequencies – Ratio 15% of maximum of amplitude). A classification of feature vectors was performed by Bayes classifier, Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) and Nearest Neighbour classifier. The proposed technique of fault diagnosis can be used for protection of three phase induction motors and other rotating electrical machines. In the near future the authors will analyze other motors and faults. There is also idea to use thermal, acoustic, electrical, vibration signal together.

Synchronous motors working at a capacitive power factor of 0.8 are obtained by providing a 0ver excitation, meaning operation at a capacitive power factor to improve the power factor of the system when connected to an inductive load, as is the case with an induction motor. A synchronous motor that is over-excitation will act like a capacitor and suck up the current that lead the voltage. A synchronous motor that works without a load that is given over excitation will function as a synchronous compensator whose capacitive value can be adjusted. The condition of this synchronous compensator is installed on a cage rotor induction motor as a power factor improvement. The results of this study showed that the power factor value of the induction motor before installing the synchronous compensator was cos φ = 0.88 and the reactive power was 132,84 VAR, after installing the synchronous compen sator, cos φ = 0.91 to 0.99 and the reactive power was 68 VAR to 28,2 VARs

Abstract (sommario):
The paper presents a traction induction motor with an innovative rotor winding design. The winding of the rotor is almost identical to the armature winding in the dc traction motors, with the exception of commutator. Winding is double layered. The bars are insulated. Along the iron core bars are secured with wedges and in the winding outhang with bandages. The bars of the bottom layer in the winding outhang part near the iron core are bent radially in the direction of the shaft axis. On the winding outhang of the bottom layer an inner bandage is applied. On the winding outhang of the top layer an outer bandage is applied. All the ends of the bottom and top layers bars, on both sides of the rotor’s core, are connected together by ferrule. There is a ring placed on the shaft or on the coil support on one side of the rotor’s core. It is best if this ring is made of copper. The ring is characterized by mp tongues, which are distributed evenly along its circumference (p is number of winding pole pairs and m is number of rotor winding phases). Tongues are connected to equally uniformly placed ferrules. Bandages are made of carbon fibre or glass fibre tape.

Abstract (sommario):
Power quality is an important aspect in electrical distribution and utilization systems. Variable frequency drive (VFD) controlled induction motors are widely used in industries. The output current of VFD which is nonsinusoidal is given to the induction motor. This paper proposes a motor side active power filter (MSAPF) so as to provide a pure sinusoidal current to the induction motor. An evaluation of two control strategies has been discussed in this paper i.e. Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory and Instantaneous Reactive Power theory (IRPT) in the generation of the reference signal. These techniques are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. These simulations demonstrate the reduction in total harmonic distortion (THD) in the motor current with active filter connected to the motor side.

Abstract (sommario):
Many authors have recently studied line start permanent magnet assistance synchronous reluctance. This paper presents a method to improve the electromagnetic torque and efficiency of induction motors of 7.5kW-4P (which consists of 36 stator slots and 40 rotor bars) by changing the design of the permanent magnet assistance synchronous reluctance rotors. This means that permanent magnets will be inserted to the squirrel cage induction motors (induction motors). The electromagnetic torque and efficiency of an induction motor is analyzed and compared with that of the line-start synchronous reluctance motor via a finite element analysis. In addition, the influence of position and length permanent magnets on the electromagnetic torque and efficiency of the line-start synchronous reluctance motor is also considered and simulated. The model of this motor Linh is finally designed with four U layered- magnet rotor to verify the developed method. The development of the method is also validated on the practical induction motor.

Abstract (sommario):
The most common kind of motor used in industrial applications is still the AC motor. In many applications, it is crucial to monitor and regulate the induction motor's settings, and there are numerous ways to guarantee dependable performance. This research focuses on the remote monitoring and management of a three-phase induction motor's numerous parameters using the Internet of Things (IoT). Short circuit motor temperature, current, and voltage are just a few of the characteristics that the sensor and sensor module keep track of and send to the processing unit, which displays the parameter on the server. To prevent system failures through the server gateway, the system also includes automatic and manual control methods to stop or start the short-circuited motor. With constant monitoring to detect failures and also to identify preventative maintenance, this system's adoption improves the machine's operational efficiency. The most prevalent type of motor in use today across all industries is the AC motor and the brilliant scientist Nikola Tesla's development of an induction motor. The induction motor is responsible for over 50% of the world's electricity consumption. 90% of industries utilize induction motors because they have the necessary properties like being naturally "self-starting" motors, and not requiring permanent magnets, brushes, commutator rings, or position sensors. Moreover, induction motors are more affordable and reliable than other types of motors, retain a strong power factor, require less maintenance, are extremely efficient, and are tiny in size.

Abstract (sommario):
Single-phase induction motors are widely used today. A single-phase induction motor is operated using a single-phase inverter. The Single-phase inverter consists of four MOSFETs, two for the high side and two for the low side. The Single-phase induction motors are a constant speed motor. As a corollary, the speed control of the Single-Phase Induction motor becomes a very important necessity. Speed control of the Single-Phase Induction motor can be done in many ways. The method followed in this paper is voltage control/ (V/F Control). By controlling the duty cycle of the MOSFETs, we can control the output of the inverter and there by control the speed of the Single-Phase Induction motor. The inverter has been interfaced with MATLAB, which generates pulses and sends them to the Digital Signal processor. Texas Instrument’s low-cost Piccolo F2802x MCUs are ideal for a variety of applications, such as washing machines, compressors, pumps, fans, electric bicycles, tools, treadmills, compact drives, sewing and textile machines, lifts and hobby motors. This paper focuses on closed loop control of single-phase induction motor using this Micro Controller, F2802x Digital Signal Processor using feedback obtained through a Hall Sensor.

Abstract (sommario):
Ensuring high power, efficiency and reliability of induction motor operation while providing small weight– size parameters represents an up-to-date problem. One of the factors limiting the reduction of weight–size parameters when increasing capacities of induction motors is the failure of the insulation system. Therefore, there is a strong need for studying the issues of slot fill when designing an induction motor, taking into account an increase in the heat resistance class of electrical insulation systems. The purpose of the present research is to develop a polymeric electrical insulation system of increased heat resistance for the modernization of an induction medium-capacity motor to reduce weight–size parameters and to evaluate the possible savings of winding material. The paper deals with an analysis on the stator–slot fill for the induction motor. Modern conductor and insulation materials were selected. The necessary calculations for a medium–power induction motor of different heat resistance classes were performed. The usage of the proposed electrical insulation system was substantiated. The analysis shows the possibility of increasing the heat resistance of the polymer electrical insulation systems to save winding material for induction motors without reducing the specified quality level.

Abstract (sommario):
Induction motors are the most electric motors widely used in the community, both in the industrial and in the household applications. The power and efficiency of the motors are determined by the type of ferromagnetic material used in the core of the motor. If a very good ferromagnetic material with high permeability is applied to the core of the induction motor, then both the energy conversion and the efficiency of the motor will increase. But, if the ferromagnetic material is not good with low permeability is used in the induction motor, of course, the conversion of energy generated by the motor will be low so that the motor efficiency becomes decreased. In other cases, when ferromagnetic materials with high permeability are used, these ferromagnetic materials will become more fragile than using ferromagnetic materials with lower permeability. Therefore, a good strategy is needed in designing the core material of the induction motor. This study was intended to provide an overview of the potential use of a composite material of Fe and ferromagnetic material that was made in the Graded Magnetostrictive Layers. This research was conducted using several studies of the results of research on the composite material of the magnet. The results of the study show that a composite material of Fe and ferromagnetic materials provided a great potential in applying to induction motors to increase power and efficiency of the motor.

Abstract (sommario):
One of the most popular electric motors used today is the 3-phase induction motor, which has a sturdy design, is less expensive, and is simple to use. Improvements to the materials used in the rotor or stator of induction motors, raising the number of motor phases, and employing a 3-phase induction motor for 1-phase power are just a few of the ways the motor is now being developed to perform better. These studies are all pricey, though. The goal of this study is to determine how to enhance the motor's performance at a reasonable cost. The suggested remedy was to create a 3-phase induction motor winding with a 1-layer design that resembled a symmetrical 6-phase winding. The primary study topics were the motor's rotor speed, mechanical torque, efficiency, and winding current when it was powered by a three-phase power source. The results of the study show that, although consuming less winding current, the 3-phase induction motor with a new winding design outperforms a traditional 3-phase induction motor in terms of rotor speed, mechanical torque, and efficiency.

AbstractA fault diagnostics system of three-phase induction motors was implemented. The implemented system was based on acoustic signals of three-phase induction motors. A feature extraction step was performed using SMOFS-20-EXPANDED (shortened method of frequencies selection-20-Expanded). A classification step was performed using 3 classifiers: LDA (Linear Discriminant Analysis), NBC (Naive Bayes Classifier), CT (Classification Tree). An analysis was carried out for incipient states of three-phase induction motors measured under laboratory conditions. The author measured and analysed the following states of motors: healthy motor, motor with one faulty rotor bar, motor with two faulty rotor bars, motor with faulty ring of squirrel-cage. Measured and analysed states were caused by natural degradation of parts of the machine. The efficiency of recognition of the analysed states was good. The proposed method of fault diagnostics can find application in protection of three-phase induction motors.

Abstract (sommario):
Induction motors are among the most important components of modern machinery and industrial equipment. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a fault diagnosis system that detects the operating conditions of and faults in induction motors early. This paper presents an induction motor fault diagnosis system based on a CNN (convolutional neural network) model. In the proposed method, vibration signal data are obtained from the induction motor experimental environment, and these values are input into the CNN. Then, the CNN performs fault diagnosis. In this study, fault diagnosis of an induction motor is performed in three states, namely, normal, rotor fault, and bearing fault. In addition, a GUI (graphical user interface) for the proposed fault diagnosis system is presented. The experimental results confirm that the proposed method is suitable for diagnosing rotor and bearing faults of induction motors.

Abstract (sommario):
A three-level neutral point clamped inverter with three phase legs is often used to power three-phase electrical motors. This type of multilevel inverter has its advantages over two-level inverters. The main advantages are lower harmonic distortion and less stress on motor windings. This three-level inverter can be also used as a power source for a two-phase induction motor. A one-phase induction motor with a starting capacitor and auxiliary windings is in fact a two-phase induction motor. In this article, we show that the switching number reduction method, previously presented for use with three-phase induction motors, can be used with two-phase motors as well, after some crucial modifications. The reduction of switching decreases the switching losses. The switching number reduction is obtained with modified space vector modulation using redundant voltage vectors. The method was simulated and then implemented on a prototype 3L-NPC inverter powering a one-phase induction motor with auxiliary windings. A switching number reduction of about 19% to 29% was obtained, depending on modulation parameters.

Abstract (sommario):
Recent research reveals that multi-phase motors in electric propulsion systems are highly recommended due to their improved reliability and efficiency over traditional three phase motors. This research presented a comparison of optimal model design of a six phase squirrel cage induction motor (IM) for electric propulsion by using Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). A six phase squirrel cage induction motor is designed and simulated by ANSYS Motor-CAD. In order to find the best fit method, simulation results are compared and applied to the motors for electric propulsion, considering the influence of design upon the motor performance. The six-phase squirrel cage induction motor is more energy efficient, reliable and cost effective for the electric propulsion compared to the conventional three phase motor. In this study, first the initial parameters of the six phase squirrel cage induction motor have been determined and then these parameters have been compared with optimized values by Genetic Algorithm (GA) and PSO optimization. The motor designed is optimized using efficiency and power losses as the fitness function. The six phase squirrel cage induction motor is designed using ANSYS Motor-CAD and the simulation results were also presented along with two-dimensional and three-dimensional geometry. The result shows that the weight and power loss are reduced to 161 kg and 0.9359 Kw respectively, while the efficiency and power factor are increased to 0.95 and 0.87 respectively when PSO is used. This shows that the result is promising.

Three phase induction motors are widely used in industries due to their various technical as well as economical advantages. About 60% of industrial electricity is consumed by these motors, but the heat generation inside the motor due to various losses is a critical factor which degrades the dielectric properties of insulation and shortening the lifespan of motor. This paper presents the capillary based water cooling method of three phase squirrel cage induction motor. In this method, a jacket of capillaries made of jute and cotton is used as a outer cover for the motor casing. A small air gap passage is provided in between motor casing and inner surface of jacket. Natural Water Cooling Capillaries (NWCC) method is used to lower down the surrounding temperature of motor which reduces heating limitations of motor. For this purpose we select a 1.1kW three phase, 50Hz squirrel cage induction motor. Heat run test is performed on this motor to determine the total loss of energy dissipated as heat on three phase squirrel cage induction motor with and without adopting capillary based water cooling method. Comparison is done on the basis of experimental result which shows that the temperature withstanding capacity of induction motor will increase by 15.5 % after adopting capillary based water cooling method. This is an economical method and no external energy is required for cooling purpose.

The performance evaluation of cage induction motor continues to receive tremendous attention because of its vital effect on the overall system stability. The model has predicted the behavior of cage induction motor under different operating conditions and in selecting the appropriate motor for a specific load application. There is often a challenge when a squirrel cage induction motor is connected to a time-varying load, particularly when the motor is selected without considering the effects of pulsating torques. The usual method used for steady state analysis of induction motors is the equivalent circuit method. Using the per phase equivalent circuit of the induction motor, stator current and referred rotor current were computed using simple circuit analysis. Once the currents are available, then power can be computed because the voltage is already known.

In this paper, a fault detection and diagnosis system for induction motors using motor current signature analysis and the Fuzzy Min-Max (FMM) neural network is described. The finite element method is first employed to generate experimental data for predicting the changes in stator current signatures of an induction motor due to broken rotor bars. Then, a series real laboratory experiments is for broken rotor bars detection and diagnosis. The induction motor with broken rotor bars is operated under different load conditions. In all the experiments, the FMM network is used to learn and distinguish between normal and faulty states of the induction motor based on the input features extracted from the power spectral density. The experimental results positively demonstrate that the FMM network is useful for fault detection and diagnosis of broken rotor bars in induction motors.

Three-phase induction motors are the “workhorses” of industry; they are the most widely used electrical machine; because of its simple structure and high reliability. This paper proposes a new technique to model the stator winding of the induction motor in Matlab Simulink® software. This simulation of the induction motor would have the thermal behavior of its stator winding; to study the induction motor temperature estimation using motor parameter-based method. The modified model is used to validate a remote and Sensorless stator winding temperature estimation technique; therefore a thermal protection is obtained for soft-starter-connected to induction motors. The soft-starter is used to inject a DC signal in the induction motor terminal voltage and current. The stator winding resistance/temperature is estimated from DC signal injection by changing the gate drive signals of the Thyristor in the soft starter. The level of the injected DC signal is adjusted by the value of the delay angle. The accuracy of stator winding temperature estimation increased with the increase of DC signal level; however the pulsation of the output torque increased also. The thermal behavior is simulated utilizing a thermal resistor block from the Matlab Simscape™ software. It is used to replace the fixed resistor value of the induction motor model in the Matlab Simulink. The thermal monitoring scheme has been validated from the simulation results of a 7.5 kW induction motor under various loading conditions.

Purpose. Correction of the mathematical model of electromagnetic processes in a two-pole induction motor with a short-circuited rotor, taking into account static rotor eccentricity to identify diagnostic correlations. Methodology. Analytical modeling using the method of specific magnetic conductivity, mathematical modeling of electromagnetic fields in a three-phase induction motor with a short-circuited rotor using methods of electromagnetic field theory and finite element methods. Obtained results. The necessity of improving mathematical models for induction motors with short-circuited rotors to establish new or refine connections between diagnostic features and diagnosed defects has been demonstrated. Refined mathematical expressions for calculating the specific conductivity of non-uniform air gaps in induction motors with static eccentricity are provided. Modeling was performed using the FEMM environment for a statically eccentric two-pole induction motor with a short-circuited rotor. It has been proven that the harmonic order values obtained using the numerical-field method are consistent with those obtained analytically. Findings. Based on the field approach and using the finite elements method, an analysis of the distribution of magnetic field in a two-pole induction motor with a short-circuited rotor was conducted. Harmonic analysis of the magnetic field in the air gap was performed to identify the fundamental harmonic and higher and lower-order harmonics when eccentricity occurs. The influence of static rotor eccentricity on the electromagnetic processes of the induction motor was analyzed. Practical value. The results of the study can be utilized for functional diagnosis of the rotor winding of induction motors based on the radial component of the magnetic field. This will contribute to enhancing the reliability of induction motors and enable the prevention of failure in induction motors with short-circuited rotors.
